"How have you been?" — "Tired." It is the kind of answer delivered with a chuckle that quietly covers something much heavier underneath. Over ten years of interrupted sleep, four boys who simply do not sleep well in their early years, the exhaustion of pregnancy layered on top of toddler wakings, and a midnight prayer offered somewhere between one waking and the next: God, I know he is a gift — please help me. It is one of the most honest and most human prayers imaginable. And yet, what follows that midnight prayer is something remarkable: a morning realization that weakness has a way of producing what strength never could. When the flesh is genuinely humbled, dependence on God stops being a spiritual discipline and becomes the only option. Fruit grows in that place. The Spirit moves more freely there. Psalm 30:4-5 does not minimize the night of weeping — it simply refuses to let it be the final word. His favor lasts a lifetime. A shout of joy comes in the morning. For those in a season of great difficulty right now, that promise may feel impossibly far away. But the invitation of this episode is urgent and tender all at once: cry out to the Lord, lean on His grace, trust that He is working in the middle of the trial for your good and for His glory, and lift your gaze long enough to choose worship — not because the pain is gone, but because He is faithful even while it remains. Today's Bible Verse "Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning." — Psalm 30:5, NASB Ponder Today • Suffering has a way of producing what ease never could. When the flesh is genuinely weakened and we are humbled to our knees, dependence on God becomes not a discipline but a necessity — and in that place, fruit grows and the Spirit moves freely. • His favor lasts a lifetime — even when the night feels unending. Psalm 30:5 does not promise a short night. It promises that the night is not the final word. Joy is coming in the morning, in His time and according to His purposes. • Cry out to God in the middle of the trial, not just before and after it. The midnight prayer offered in exhaustion — God, I know he is a gift, please help me — is exactly the kind of prayer He is near to and ready to meet. • The purpose of pain is often to draw us back to our Father. When life becomes too heavy to carry alone, we are reminded of what was always true: He is near, He is worthy of our praise, and He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). • Choose worship before the circumstances change. Praising God in the weary season is not denial — it is one of the most powerful acts of faith available to us. He is faithful whether or not our circumstances shift, and our worship declares that truth out loud. A Prayer for You Today Heavenly Father, I am so weary and weighed down by my current life circumstances. It is difficult for me to see the gift in this trial, but I trust You are using it for my good and for Your glory. Help me to have eyes to see that You are working in my life. My circumstances may not change anytime soon, but please change me in my circumstances to look more like Jesus. Strengthen my faith so that I can lift my voice and praise You, trusting that joy is coming in Your perfect timing. I may be weary, but I choose to worship You because You are forever faithful to me. Help me to look to You and point others to You in this season. You are good. In Jesus' name, Amen. [0:52] Speaker 1: A Prayer for the Weary Hearted.
[0:54] Speaker 2: And Hurting written by Emily Rose Massey, read by Kirie Eichberger.
[1:01] Speaker 2: Seeing praise to the Lord you his godly ones, and
[1:04] Speaker 2: give thanks to his Holy name. For his anger is
[1:07] Speaker 2: but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime.
[1:11] Speaker 2: Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of
[1:14] Speaker 2: joy comes in the morning, Psalm thirty, verse four and five.
[1:19] Speaker 2: How have you been tired? I responded with a chuckle.
[1:24] Speaker 2: But on the inside, I know that I am struggling
[1:26] Speaker 2: deeply from what seems to be one very long season
[1:30] Speaker 2: of sleep deprivation. I am convinced that sleep deprivation from
[1:35] Speaker 2: the baby toddler phase is the mom version of fasting.
[1:39] Speaker 2: My flesh becomes so weakened and my reliance upon God
[1:43] Speaker 2: becomes absolutely everything. I cannot help, but rely on His
[1:47] Speaker 2: grace to do pretty much anything. You see, the Lord
[1:51] Speaker 2: has blessed me with four precious boys who simply do
[1:55] Speaker 2: not like sleep. For at least the first threach to
[1:57] Speaker 2: four years of life, when I had the difficulty of
[2:01] Speaker 2: sleeping and pregnancy and having children every two to three years,
[2:05] Speaker 2: I haven't had uninterrupted sleep in over ten years. I
[2:10] Speaker 2: don't share all of this to complain or receive sympathy
[2:14] Speaker 2: or ask for advice. I share to remind you and
[2:17] Speaker 2: myself that the Lord is near to those suffering and
[2:21] Speaker 2: walking through a difficult season that may have you feeling
[2:25] Speaker 2: so incredibly incapable and discouraged. What I was praying last
[2:29] Speaker 2: night in the midnight hours during the on and off wakings,
[2:34] Speaker 2: awakened every one to two hours because of my youngest
[2:37] Speaker 2: teething pain and what I can assume is another sleep regression,
[2:41] Speaker 2: I said, God, I know.
[2:43] Speaker 1: He is a gift. Please help me.
[2:46] Speaker 2: And this morning, as I reflect, I'm realizing the ways
[2:49] Speaker 2: my son is a gift from the Father. When my
[2:52] Speaker 2: flesh is weak and I am humbled to my knees,
[2:55] Speaker 2: I'm able to bear fruit and walk in the spirit
[2:58] Speaker 2: in a way that pleases the Lord Lord, so I
[3:01] Speaker 2: find myself thanking God through tears for his sleep deprivation.
[3:05] Speaker 2: Suffering is a gift, and with it comes joy and
[3:08] Speaker 2: praise to God for his faithfulness. These verses in Psalm
[3:12] Speaker 2: thirty command us to sing praises to the Lord, even
[3:16] Speaker 2: in the midst of our suffering and weeping. Sing praise
[3:19] Speaker 2: to the Lord you his godly ones, and give thanks
[3:22] Speaker 2: to His Holy name.
[3:24] Speaker 1: For his anger is but.
[3:25] Speaker 2: For a moment, his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping
[3:29] Speaker 2: may last for the night, but a shout of joy
[3:32] Speaker 2: comes in the morning.
[3:33] Speaker 1: Psalm thirty, verse four and five.
[3:36] Speaker 2: Are you currently in a season of great difficulty and trial?
[3:40] Speaker 2: Cry out to the Lord. His grace is sufficient in
[3:43] Speaker 2: your weakness. Lean upon him and He will strengthen you
[3:47] Speaker 2: and transform you in your suffering to look more like him.
[3:51] Speaker 2: He is faithful in every season. His ways may seem
[3:54] Speaker 2: confusing to you, but trust that He will turn your
[3:58] Speaker 2: weeping into great joy.
[4:00] Speaker 1: In his time.
[4:01] Speaker 2: There is purpose in the pain you may be experiencing,
[4:05] Speaker 2: and one of the purposes is to remind you that
[4:07] Speaker 2: your heavenly Father is near and is truly worthy of
[4:11] Speaker 2: our adoration and praise. He is working things out for
[4:15] Speaker 2: your good, which is to make you look more like Christ.
[4:19] Speaker 2: I know it may be difficult to see your trial
[4:21] Speaker 2: as a gift or reason to praise God. It's hard
[4:25] Speaker 2: for our minds to fully comprehend how pain can be
[4:29] Speaker 2: called good. But we must trust that His ways are
[4:33] Speaker 2: higher than ours, and he uses everything for his plans
[4:37] Speaker 2: for our lives so that he would receive the most glory.
[4:40] Speaker 2: And then through us, do you remember to lift your
[4:44] Speaker 2: gaze and call out to him when life seems too much.
[4:48] Speaker 1: To bear and the hurt is too heavy.
[4:51] Speaker 2: He wants you to lean upon him in all things,
[4:55] Speaker 2: draw near to him, and he will draw near to you.
[4:59] Speaker 2: Let's pray heavenly Father. I am so weary and weighed
[5:03] Speaker 2: down by my current life circumstances.
[5:06] Speaker 1: It is difficult for.
[5:07] Speaker 2: Me to see the gift in this trial, but I
[5:10] Speaker 2: trust you are using it for my good and for
[5:12] Speaker 2: your glory. Help me to have eyes to see that
[5:16] Speaker 2: you are working in my life. My circumstances may not
[5:20] Speaker 2: change anytime soon, but please change me in my circumstances
[5:24] Speaker 2: to look more like Jesus. I ask you to strengthen
[5:28] Speaker 2: my faith so that I can left my voice and
[5:31] Speaker 2: praise to you, trusting.
[5:33] Speaker 1: That joy is coming in your perfect timing.
[5:36] Speaker 2: I may be weary, but I choose to worship you
[5:39] Speaker 2: because you are forever faithful to me, help me to
[5:42] Speaker 2: look to you and point others to you in this season.
[5:46] Speaker 2: You are good in Jesus' name.
[5:49] Speaker 1: Amen.
