Life has a way of surprising us with journeys we never quite planned for. Many of us intend to stay in one place permanently, and then circumstances shift — a job opportunity, a growing family, a door that opens in an unexpected direction — and suddenly we are packing boxes and asking God what comes next. Moving ranks among the top three most stressful life events, which is precisely why prayer needs to be at the center of every step. Abram was seventy-five years old when God told him to leave everything he had ever known and go to a land He would show him — with no map, no destination specified, and no U-Haul. He went anyway. And when he arrived in Canaan, the land was already inhabited. What awaited him was not a simple, obstacle-free welcome. But it was exactly where God had called him, and a promise of breathtaking proportion met him there. Isaiah 46:10 frames the whole story: God declares the end from the beginning. His purpose will stand, and all His good pleasure He will accomplish. That truth belongs to every family loading a moving truck today. Just because a new place comes with complications, unknowns, and an inhabited landscape does not mean God is absent from the plan. What matters most is not how the circumstances appear upon arrival, but what God will say and do next. Those who move with the Lord move with His hand upon them every step of the way — and the impact of their obedience reaches further than they can currently see. Today's Bible Verse "I declare the end from the beginning, and ancient times from what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and all my good pleasure I will accomplish.'" — Isaiah 46:10, ESV Ponder Today • God is intentional about location. He directed Abram's path with purpose, and He is equally intentional about where He places His people today. A move made in obedience to His leading carries the weight of His purpose behind it. • Obstacles upon arrival do not mean the move was a mistake. When Abram reached Canaan, the land was already occupied. God's plan was not derailed — it was unfolding. Complications do not cancel calling. • The promise awaits at the destination, not before departure. Abram received God's word of assurance after he arrived, not before he left. Faithfulness in the going often precedes clarity about the purpose. • A move made with God impacts generations beyond your own. The promise God made to Abram in Canaan still holds weight in the Holy Lands today. Our obedience in the present shapes what comes after us in ways we may never fully see. • You do not walk the path of a move alone. God's hand accompanies every step — the packing, the farewell, the unfamiliar streets, the search for a new church family. He is present in all of it and He is providing for all of it. A Prayer for You Today Father God, we lift up today every family and individual who is planning a move. We know that even a move across town can have a domino effect on the lives of those around them and on generations to come. Lord, You see the whole plan from start to finish. We pray for assurance for those taking leaps of faith that they will be met with solid ground that can only come from You. We pray for conviction that they know You sent them, and for provision through every step from packing to finding a new home to building new community and connecting to a new church body. May each member of the moving family know within themselves that You have a purpose for this move in their lives and in their story. May this experience glorify Your name and serve as a testimony of Your creativity, goodness, and faithfulness. In Jesus' holy name, Amen. [0:16] Speaker 2: help you find the words you need to connect to
[0:19] Speaker 2: your Father in Heaven. No matter what is happening in
[0:22] Speaker 2: your life today, you can trust that God wants to
[0:25] Speaker 2: hear from you. Right after this short word from our sponsors,
[0:28] Speaker 2: we'll pray for today's prayer for Moving Families. A Prayer
[0:51] Speaker 2: for Moving Families written by Callie Logan, read by Kerrie Iiberger.
[0:58] Speaker 2: I declare the from the beginning and ancient times, from
[1:02] Speaker 2: what is still to come, I say, my purpose will stand,
[1:07] Speaker 2: and all my good pleasure I will accomplish, I say
[1:11] Speaker 2: forty six, Verse ten. Life has a way of surprising
[1:16] Speaker 2: you with journeys you would never quite expect. For many,
[1:21] Speaker 2: the intention is to stay in one place permanently, but
[1:24] Speaker 2: as life has a way of unfolding, those plans can change.
[1:29] Speaker 2: According to University Hospitals, moving is among the top three
[1:33] Speaker 2: most stressful events in life, which is why it is
[1:37] Speaker 2: vital to be rooted in prayer throughout a move. When
[1:40] Speaker 2: God is at the center of an action, even when
[1:43] Speaker 2: it's intense, there is a security in knowing that you
[1:47] Speaker 2: do not walk that path alone. Location is important to
[1:51] Speaker 2: the Lord, for he is intentional with all that he
[1:55] Speaker 2: instructs and moves us to do. And Genesis twelve, the
[1:59] Speaker 2: Lord can man Abram, who would later be named Abraham,
[2:03] Speaker 2: to leave the land he had known for all of
[2:06] Speaker 2: his life. Scripture tells us, Now the Lord said to Abram,
[2:11] Speaker 2: go from your country and your kindred and your father's
[2:14] Speaker 2: house to the land that I will show you. Can
[2:17] Speaker 2: you imagine the questions that arose from family members or neighbors.
[2:22] Speaker 2: We must also consider that you Paul did not exist,
[2:26] Speaker 2: and Abram was not a young man, but he still obeyed,
[2:30] Speaker 2: were told Genesis twelve four. So Abram went as the
[2:34] Speaker 2: Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram
[2:38] Speaker 2: was seventy five years old when he departed from Heron.
[2:41] Speaker 2: And Abram took Syra his wife, and Lot, his brother's son,
[2:45] Speaker 2: and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the
[2:48] Speaker 2: people that they had acquired in Heron, and they set
[2:51] Speaker 2: out to go to the land of Canaan. This was
[2:54] Speaker 2: not a temporary move for them. They left nothing behind
[2:57] Speaker 2: but the days gone by when they obeyed what the
[3:00] Speaker 2: Lord told them to do, despite not knowing what awaited
[3:04] Speaker 2: them in Canaan. When Abram and his family at last
[3:07] Speaker 2: arrived in Canaan. They were met with unexpected company, for
[3:11] Speaker 2: the land was already inhabited. It did not matter how
[3:15] Speaker 2: the circumstance appeared at the time, but rather what mattered
[3:19] Speaker 2: most was what God would say instruct or assurer next.
[3:24] Speaker 2: In the same way, believers today may find that when
[3:28] Speaker 2: they do move as God instructs, or when He opens
[3:32] Speaker 2: a door for a move, what awaits them can at
[3:35] Speaker 2: first appear counterintuitive. Just because something is not simple or
[3:40] Speaker 2: free of obstacles does not mean it is not from God,
[3:44] Speaker 2: nor does it mean He does not have a greater
[3:46] Speaker 2: plan moving forward. What is vital is to listen for
[3:50] Speaker 2: his voice, to be aware of his guiding hand, and
[3:54] Speaker 2: to rest in his provision for every step. Abram did
[3:58] Speaker 2: as God instructed. When he arrived in the new land.
[4:02] Speaker 2: A promise awaited him as a welcome gift, and Jesus
[4:05] Speaker 2: is twelve seven we are told. Then the Lord appeared
[4:08] Speaker 2: to Abram and said, to your offspring, I will give
[4:11] Speaker 2: this land. So he built an altar there for the
[4:14] Speaker 2: Lord who had appeared to him. From there he moved
[4:17] Speaker 2: to the hill country on the east of Bethel and
[4:20] Speaker 2: pitched his tent from Bethel on the west and I
[4:24] Speaker 2: on the east. This promise was not something given lightly,
[4:28] Speaker 2: for its impact and legacy still hold weight to this
[4:32] Speaker 2: very day in the Holy Lands. God did indeed fulfill
[4:35] Speaker 2: his promise to Abram, but the road to that destination
[4:39] Speaker 2: would require patience, trust, endurance, and loyalty to the Lord.
[4:44] Speaker 2: In the same way, those who are moving today must
[4:48] Speaker 2: recognize that these actions are not solely for the present day,
[4:52] Speaker 2: but impact generations to come. When the big picture lens
[4:57] Speaker 2: is used, there is also a sense of hope to
[5:00] Speaker 2: keep going when things do indeed become stressful or uncertain.
[5:05] Speaker 2: Know that when you move with the Lord, you move
[5:08] Speaker 2: with His hand upon every step of the way. Let's pray,
[5:14] Speaker 2: Father God, we lift up today families or individuals who
[5:18] Speaker 2: are planning a move. We know that even a move
[5:21] Speaker 2: across town can have a domino effect on the lives
[5:24] Speaker 2: of those around them, future generations, and those making them
[5:29] Speaker 2: move themselves. Lord, we know that you see the whole
[5:33] Speaker 2: plan from start to end. With that in mind, we
[5:36] Speaker 2: pray Lord for assurance for those taking leaps of faith
[5:40] Speaker 2: that they will be met with solid ground. They can
[5:43] Speaker 2: only come from You, And we pray for conviction of
[5:46] Speaker 2: spirit that they know full well that you sent them.
[5:50] Speaker 2: We pray Father for all that will be required of
[5:53] Speaker 2: them in the process, from packing to finding a new dwelling,
[5:58] Speaker 2: to making new friends to connected to a new church body. Lord,
[6:02] Speaker 2: May they be met not only with assistance from You,
[6:05] Speaker 2: but may each member of the family moving know within
[6:09] Speaker 2: themselves that You have a purpose for the smooth in
[6:11] Speaker 2: their lives and in their stories. May this experience you
[6:15] Speaker 2: one that glorifies your name and serves as a testimony
[6:19] Speaker 2: of your creativity, goodness and destiny for them, lifting up
[6:24] Speaker 2: others to trust you in the same way as well.
[6:27] Speaker 2: We thank you for all that you are doing in
[6:30] Speaker 2: the lives of your children in Jesus Holy Name. Amen.
