The calendar is about to fill back up. New school schedules, new work projects, church commitments, and the steady accumulation of fall's demands are just around the corner. Autumn is an exciting season, but it also carries a real risk of losing peace of mind to stress if we enter it without intentional preparation. Right now, before the rush arrives, there is a sacred window of time available — and the wisest thing we can do with it is pull away to a quiet place. Isaiah 26:3 connects perfect peace directly to a mind that is steadfast in trusting God. Without regular quiet time to reset that focus, the mind becomes like a fallen leaf tossed around by the wind — distracted by the present and anxious about the future. Going into a busy season with a mind in that state means being easily overwhelmed by demands that would otherwise feel manageable. Quiet time with God is not a luxury for special occasions. It is how we build the spiritual reservoir we draw from when the harder days arrive. Filling ourselves with His love and wisdom now means that when the pressure of a full fall schedule hits, we will not have to scramble for peace. It will already be there, steady and available, because the foundation beneath us is strong. Choosing to pull away to a quiet place is itself an act of trust — a declaration that we believe God will meet our needs even when we stop driving ourselves relentlessly forward. Bible Verse "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." — Isaiah 26:3, NIV Ponder Today • A steadfast mind is a prepared mind. When quiet time with God becomes a regular practice, the mind grows calm and focused. When it is neglected, the mind grows anxious and easily overwhelmed. The difference shows up most clearly in the busiest seasons. • Choosing rest is an act of trust. The belief that we cannot afford to stop is rooted in the fear that our life depends entirely on our own effort. Pulling away to a quiet place tells God we trust Him to hold things together while we rest in His presence. • Build the spiritual reservoir now so you can draw from it later. The peace, wisdom, and renewal you receive in quiet time with God do not disappear when you return to a busy schedule. They carry you through it. A Prayer for You Today Dear God, I can feel the upcoming autumn season approaching, and I already want to race ahead into the busyness of it. I confess that I often let my mind get cluttered with worries about tasks I need to complete and problems I need to solve. But right now, I am choosing to stop worrying and start trusting You more. In this quiet place, please quiet the noise inside my soul. Send me Your peace. I want to live with a steadfast mind rooted in Your truth, not a mind constantly tossed around by changing circumstances. I surrender my need for constant productivity and choose to rest in Your presence. I trust You to meet all of my needs. As the seasons change outside, let Your unchanging peace keep me steady. [1:31] Speaker 2: where we hope you find the words you need to
[1:33] Speaker 2: connect to your Father in Heaven. No matter what's happening
[1:36] Speaker 2: in your life today that God wants to hear from you.
[1:40] Speaker 2: Right after this short word from our sponsors, we'll pray
[1:43] Speaker 2: through today's prayer to pull away to a quiet place
[1:47] Speaker 2: before autumn hits. A prayer to pull away to a
[2:08] Speaker 2: quiet place before Autumn hits, written by Whitney Hoppler, read
[2:13] Speaker 2: by Leah Gerard. You will keep in perfect peace those
[2:18] Speaker 2: whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you Isaiah
[2:23] Speaker 2: twenty six to three. Summer is winding down, and the
[2:28] Speaker 2: predictable rush of autumn will arrive soon. Your calendar will
[2:32] Speaker 2: fill up with activities like new school schedules, new work projects,
[2:37] Speaker 2: and church commune commitments. Fall is an exciting season, but
[2:41] Speaker 2: it's also a time when you risk losing your peace
[2:44] Speaker 2: of mind because of stress if you get too busy.
[2:48] Speaker 2: Right now, you're standing in a sacred window of time
[2:52] Speaker 2: just before the autumn rush hits. You can use this
[2:55] Speaker 2: time to pause, step back, and deliberately pull away to
[2:59] Speaker 2: a quiet place. It's easy to believe this. Fallen worlds
[3:04] Speaker 2: lie that rest is a luxury you only need it
[3:07] Speaker 2: on special occasions instead of on a regular basis. You
[3:12] Speaker 2: may tell yourself that it's more reasonable to just push
[3:15] Speaker 2: through this time before fall starts and be as productive
[3:18] Speaker 2: as possible rather than to rest. But if you neglect
[3:23] Speaker 2: your God given need for regular rest, your well being
[3:26] Speaker 2: will suffer. God has designed you to rest as well
[3:30] Speaker 2: as to be active. When you rest, you can connect
[3:34] Speaker 2: with God more clearly than you can otherwise, since rest
[3:38] Speaker 2: clears your mind of distractions Isaiah twenty six to three
[3:43] Speaker 2: points out that God gives perfect peace to those whose
[3:46] Speaker 2: minds are steadfast in trusting God. If you want to
[3:50] Speaker 2: prevent yourself from becoming burned out from stress when your
[3:53] Speaker 2: fall schedule hits, you need to spend quiet time with
[3:56] Speaker 2: God right now. Having a steadfast mind means having calm,
[4:03] Speaker 2: focused thoughts. If you don't take time to pull away
[4:08] Speaker 2: and rest with God, your mind becomes like a fallen
[4:11] Speaker 2: leaf tossed around by the wind, distracted by the present,
[4:15] Speaker 2: and anxious about the future. Going into autumn with a
[4:19] Speaker 2: mind like that can leave you easily overwhelmed by all
[4:22] Speaker 2: the demands that will come your way. Then, pulling away
[4:26] Speaker 2: to a quiet place is an important spiritual practice to
[4:30] Speaker 2: include regularly in your schedule. It's how you reset your focus.
[4:36] Speaker 2: When you quiet the noise around you, you finally give
[4:39] Speaker 2: yourself permission to hear the powerful yet gentle voice of
[4:44] Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. During quiet times, God's spirit reminds you
[4:49] Speaker 2: of who He is and who you are to him.
[4:54] Speaker 2: Quiet time with God can help you build a spiritual
[4:57] Speaker 2: reservoir to draw from during your busy autumn season. Filling
[5:01] Speaker 2: yourself with God's love and wisdom now can give you
[5:04] Speaker 2: the spiritual renewal and revival you need. Then, when the
[5:09] Speaker 2: busier days arrive and you feel the pressure of a
[5:11] Speaker 2: busy fall, you won't have to scramble for peace. Your
[5:14] Speaker 2: mind will stay steady because your foundation, which is a
[5:19] Speaker 2: relationship with God, is strong. It's important to notice that
[5:24] Speaker 2: Isaiah connects perfect peace to trusting God. If you don't
[5:29] Speaker 2: want to spend enough quiet time with God, it's because
[5:32] Speaker 2: you believe that your life depends on your own efforts.
[5:35] Speaker 2: You can stress yourself out from being busy because you're
[5:39] Speaker 2: afraid that if you take a break, your life will
[5:41] Speaker 2: fall apart. But choosing to pull away to a quiet
[5:46] Speaker 2: place to spend time with God shows God that you
[5:50] Speaker 2: really trust him to meet your needs. So let go
[5:55] Speaker 2: of the pressure to jump into the next demanding season
[5:58] Speaker 2: without catching your breath. Look at your calendar this week
[6:02] Speaker 2: and protect a window of time just for you and God.
[6:08] Speaker 2: Step away from your to do list and go to
[6:11] Speaker 2: a quiet place to pray and meditate. Sit in God's presence,
[6:18] Speaker 2: Breathe deeply, and allow God to steady your mind with
[6:23] Speaker 2: peace for whatever lies ahead. Let's pray, Dear God. I
[6:30] Speaker 2: can feel the upcoming autumn season approaching, and I already
[6:34] Speaker 2: want to race ahead into the busyness of it. I
[6:38] Speaker 2: confess that I often let my mind get cluttered with
[6:41] Speaker 2: worries about tasks I need to complete, problems I need
[6:44] Speaker 2: to solve in other concerns. But right now I'm choosing
[6:49] Speaker 2: to stop worrying and start trusting you more. In this
[6:54] Speaker 2: quiet place where we're together now for prayer and meditation.
[7:00] Speaker 2: Please quiet the noise inside my soul, send me your peace.
[7:06] Speaker 2: I want to live with a steadfast mind that's rooted
[7:09] Speaker 2: in your truth, not a mind that's constantly tossed around
[7:14] Speaker 2: by changing circumstances. I surrender my need for constant productivity
[7:21] Speaker 2: and choose to rest in your presence. I trust you
[7:26] Speaker 2: to meet all of my needs. God, thank you for
[7:29] Speaker 2: taking good care of me so I won't have to
[7:32] Speaker 2: worry about taking the time I need to rest in
[7:35] Speaker 2: quiet with you. As the seasons change outside, let your
[7:41] Speaker 2: unchanging peace keep me steady. Thank you God. Amen. Your
[7:59] Speaker 2: daily prayer is a production of Life Audio and Salem Media.
