[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome to it. It is your Saturday double. Double classics.
[0:04] Speaker 1: Saturday double.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Here we go.
[0:05] Speaker 1: Yep.
[0:05] Speaker 3: Let's do it.
[0:06] Speaker 4: A double header. It's like sports.
[0:07] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Exactly right, Jose.
[0:09] Speaker 4: Let's go.
[0:09] Speaker 6: Yep.
[0:10] Speaker 1: If dating were a sport, this would be where you'd
[0:12] Speaker 1: want to be. Yep.
[0:13] Speaker 6: It is Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And before
[0:15] Speaker 6: we get to our back-to-back classics, what do you got
[0:16] Speaker 6: in comments?
[0:17] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[0:17] Speaker 7: Hannah, you said, I'm listening through this show from the start,
[0:21] Speaker 7: and I'm currently in January 2020. Everyone's talking about how
[0:25] Speaker 7: good they feel and excited 2019 is over and all
[0:28] Speaker 7: your resolutions. I feel like I'm watching the beginning of
[0:31] Speaker 7: a horror movie where the family first.
[0:33] Speaker 8: Arrives to the haunted house.
[0:34] Speaker 7: They're super excited about the house, but I saw the
[0:37] Speaker 7: trailer and I know that Ish is about to go down.
[0:40] Speaker 3: Oh, so well explained.
[0:42] Speaker 8: They're like, who knew this house was only $ 20, 000 and
[0:45] Speaker 8: it's eight bedrooms?
[0:46] Speaker 1: Oh my God. That would be wild.
[0:48] Speaker 6: I haven't gone back and re-listened to our shows from
[0:51] Speaker 6: January of 2020. But I distinctly remember having a conversation
[0:55] Speaker 6: with Jose in the studio being like, oh, China shut down.
[0:58] Speaker 1: That could never happen here, huh, Jose? Yeah, it's weird.
[1:02] Speaker 4: Anyway, I'm going to book a flight for next week.
[1:04] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[1:05] Speaker 3: But we made it.
[1:06] Speaker 1: We made it. We made it.
[1:09] Speaker 2: Okay.
[1:09] Speaker 1: I can't wait till you get to 2026. All right,
[1:11] Speaker 1: here we go. What are we doing this for? We're
[1:14] Speaker 1: doing the double header, Brooke. Oh, the classics. Get with it.
[1:17] Speaker 1: It starts now.
[1:19] Speaker 8: Is it okay to do the same thing or the
[1:22] Speaker 8: same activity twice in one date?
[1:26] Speaker 4: I guess it depends. I can't think of. I can
[1:29] Speaker 4: think of one thing.
[1:30] Speaker 8: Not the activity. Get your minds out of the gutter here.
[1:35] Speaker 8: Come on.
[1:36] Speaker 1: How about three times, Jeff?
[1:39] Speaker 8: I'm talking about going someplace or doing something in public.
[1:43] Speaker 1: So am I.
[1:44] Speaker 4: So am I.
[1:47] Speaker 8: Because one of our listeners did something three separate times,
[1:51] Speaker 8: not that, during their hangout.
[1:53] Speaker 6: Good job.
[1:54] Speaker 8: By the end, we finally heard the reason why they
[1:58] Speaker 8: kept repeating the same activity. And it made total sense.
[2:02] Speaker 8: You're going to hear it in a second date update.
[2:04] Speaker 2: Next.
[2:05] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[2:06] Speaker 3: Second date update.
[2:09] Speaker 8: Brooke, I don't know how you feel about meeting guys
[2:12] Speaker 8: at the gym.
[2:13] Speaker 1: The gym?
[2:14] Speaker 8: Yeah, are you worried about that? Because it's usually pretty
[2:17] Speaker 8: loud in there, and you're sweating. And we know, Brooke,
[2:21] Speaker 8: that you don't wear deodorant. Or at least not deodorants
[2:24] Speaker 8: that work. You like to do that organic stuff.
[2:26] Speaker 6: I mean, how else do you send your pheromones out
[2:28] Speaker 6: into the world, Jeffrey?
[2:30] Speaker 8: A.K.A.
[2:30] Speaker 4: Hot guy deterrent.
[2:31] Speaker 8: Is that what that smell is when I go in
[2:33] Speaker 8: the gym?
[2:34] Speaker 1: Pheromones?
[2:35] Speaker 8: I don't know. It might not be the cutest look sometimes, but...
[2:38] Speaker 8: That's where one of our listeners, Vanessa, says she ended
[2:40] Speaker 8: up meeting a guy over at her local gym. And
[2:43] Speaker 8: it seems to work out okay for her until it didn't.
[2:47] Speaker 5: Nice.
[2:47] Speaker 1: Maybe I need to get her a deodorant brand.
[2:49] Speaker 8: Maybe. Vanessa, what type of deodorant do you use?
[2:52] Speaker 2: I'm a Dove girl.
[2:54] Speaker 4: Dove? That's a good one.
[2:56] Speaker 8: Is that okay for you, Brooke?
[2:57] Speaker 6: Eh.
[2:57] Speaker 1: I like to go a little more natural.
[2:59] Speaker 4: Maybe just give it a try. I'm pretty sure Brooklyn
[3:01] Speaker 4: uses mayonnaise and lemon juice.
[3:03] Speaker 8: Unless it's an actual dove, a live dove that she
[3:07] Speaker 8: can rub.
[3:07] Speaker 4: Underneath her arms.
[3:08] Speaker 1: It's like a cave.
[3:09] Speaker 4: Once the dove is dead, it's time to change it out.
[3:13] Speaker 8: Thank you for the recommendation on the deodorant, but let's
[3:15] Speaker 8: focus on your love life here. Tell us about the
[3:18] Speaker 8: guy that you met when you were at the gym.
[3:19] Speaker 2: Totally. I was working out the other day. You know,
[3:23] Speaker 2: across the room, I kind of saw this guy. He
[3:26] Speaker 2: was cute, of course, in really good shape. And I
[3:30] Speaker 2: kept glancing, but I was trying not to make it obvious.
[3:33] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[3:33] Speaker 2: I mean, it.
[3:34] Speaker 1: Can be so awkward if you get caught staring.
[3:36] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[3:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, no matter what side you're a guy or a girl.
[3:40] Speaker 1: I mean, nobody really likes that at the gym.
[3:43] Speaker 2: Or do they, I mean, some people are checking themselves
[3:45] Speaker 2: out the whole time.
[3:46] Speaker 8: Those are the people that are annoying. Sometimes it's kind
[3:49] Speaker 8: of like a confidence boost to notice somebody glancing at you.
[3:53] Speaker 1: How'd you get his attention?
[3:54] Speaker 2: Well, it wasn't on purpose, but we kind of like
[3:56] Speaker 2: locked eyes through the mirror, you know?
[3:58] Speaker 8: Oh.
[4:00] Speaker 2: Yeah. So in order to make it not be super
[4:03] Speaker 2: awkward since he knew now I was looking at him,
[4:05] Speaker 2: I went over and I asked if he would spot
[4:08] Speaker 2: me to do some squats.
[4:09] Speaker 8: Oh, that's nice.
[4:11] Speaker 3: That's forward. That's good.
[4:13] Speaker 1: The trip's risky because you can't tell who's single or
[4:15] Speaker 1: not sometimes.
[4:16] Speaker 4: That's true, but if you're just asking for a spot,
[4:18] Speaker 4: you're just asking, like, hey, come and share my space.
[4:21] Speaker 8: Did you get this guy's name during this whole encounter?
[4:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, his name is Alex.
[4:25] Speaker 8: Okay.
[4:26] Speaker 1: And how'd the spotting go?
[4:28] Speaker 9: Really well.
[4:29] Speaker 2: Like, he was supporting me and encouraging and just super
[4:32] Speaker 2: nice and sweet.
[4:33] Speaker 1: That's awesome.
[4:34] Speaker 4: Some good vibes.
[4:35] Speaker 1: So you were able to turn that into something else?
[4:38] Speaker 2: Well, yes. So the rest of the workouts, we kind
[4:41] Speaker 2: of were just like near each other doing our own thing.
[4:44] Speaker 2: And then we kind of finished around the same time.
[4:47] Speaker 2: So when we were leaving, he asked if I wanted
[4:50] Speaker 2: to go across the street and get some coffee.
[4:52] Speaker 1: Oh, that's cute.
[4:54] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[4:55] Speaker 2: I didn't have plans. So we went and got some
[4:58] Speaker 2: coffee and it just felt so like natural and comfortable.
[5:02] Speaker 6: And it's so awesome to have like an impromptu date
[5:05] Speaker 6: on that because no one.
[5:06] Speaker 1: Can cancel, you know, like there's no lead up. It's
[5:09] Speaker 1: just happening.
[5:10] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[5:11] Speaker 1: What did you guys connect over besides working out?
[5:14] Speaker 2: Well, like our jobs are somewhat similar. We talked about family.
[5:18] Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, we talked about everything really.
[5:20] Speaker 1: How long did you hang out?
[5:21] Speaker 8: No, no, no one cares about any of that. Let's move.
[5:25] Speaker 2: On.
[5:25] Speaker 8: What happened after coffee? Was that the end of it?
[5:28] Speaker 7: It was not.
[5:28] Speaker 2: So it was like a super nice day out. And
[5:32] Speaker 2: I feel like neither of us wanted it to end.
[5:34] Speaker 2: So we ended up going to the park and like
[5:36] Speaker 2: walking around.
[5:37] Speaker 1: Oh, dang.
[5:38] Speaker 4: A workout, then a walk.
[5:40] Speaker 1: Sounds like Jose's nightmare.
[5:42] Speaker 4: Oh my god, can we just lay down?
[5:44] Speaker 8: You guys are both in good shape, at least.
[5:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, but this time you're like dried sweaty, you know?
[5:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, sweaty, dry, maybe sweaty.
[5:52] Speaker 8: That's a good point. Was there anything weird that was
[5:53] Speaker 8: happening during this encounter, like at coffee or at the park?
[5:57] Speaker 2: No, the park was actually so fun. We were walking
[6:00] Speaker 2: and I mentioned how I also do yoga and I
[6:04] Speaker 2: ended up showing him some yoga poses in the park.
[6:07] Speaker 6: You guys are that fit couple in the park. Spandex
[6:12] Speaker 6: looking great doing yoga poses.
[6:15] Speaker 8: Oh, God.
[6:16] Speaker 1: Did he like that?
[6:17] Speaker 2: He seemed to, because then we kind of finished our
[6:20] Speaker 2: walk around the park, and he was like, I'm kind
[6:24] Speaker 2: of a coffee addict. Do you want to go get
[6:25] Speaker 2: another coffee?
[6:26] Speaker 7: What?
[6:27] Speaker 4: More coffee.
[6:28] Speaker 6: I mean, do you think at this point you should have, like,
[6:30] Speaker 6: bowed out? Like, the momentum's good. That's when you leave.
[6:33] Speaker 1: Leave him wanting more.
[6:34] Speaker 2: But we had more momentum.
[6:36] Speaker 8: What, you did a CrossFit class next? Yeah, exactly.
[6:39] Speaker 1: I feel like it's just the caffeine.
[6:40] Speaker 8: If you go to coffee, he's going to be like,
[6:42] Speaker 8: you want to go back to the gym now?
[6:43] Speaker 1: Is he just not very creative?
[6:47] Speaker 4: Coffee, park, gym.
[6:49] Speaker 8: Me, big bro.
[6:50] Speaker 1: How was second coffee?
[6:53] Speaker 2: Also amazing.
[6:54] Speaker 4: Okay.
[6:55] Speaker 8: I'm seeing a pattern here.
[6:57] Speaker 10: Okay.
[6:58] Speaker 4: You want to go look into some mirrors?
[7:02] Speaker 8: Or is he still there with you?
[7:03] Speaker 2: I mean, I hate to just put this out on
[7:06] Speaker 2: the radio, but I ended up staying the night.
[7:09] Speaker 1: What?
[7:10] Speaker 8: Oh, so we did it.
[7:11] Speaker 1: Did you get to shower at any point?
[7:13] Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, there was some food. There was some shower.
[7:15] Speaker 2: I couldn't have, like, subsided totally on just coffee alone.
[7:20] Speaker 1: And I bet you guys stayed up late after all
[7:22] Speaker 1: that coffee.
[7:22] Speaker 8: Brooke told me.
[7:23] Speaker 4: Another workout session.
[7:26] Speaker 8: How did you leave it?
[7:27] Speaker 3: Everything stayed awesome.
[7:29] Speaker 2: Like he was really sweet the next morning. He walked
[7:32] Speaker 2: me out. We ended up walking down the street to
[7:34] Speaker 2: Starbucks and had our morning coffee together.
[7:38] Speaker 8: Oh my God.
[7:38] Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
[7:40] Speaker 8: And so was that the end of the date?
[7:42] Speaker 5: Yes.
[7:43] Speaker 8: Okay.
[7:44] Speaker 3: I'm exhausted.
[7:46] Speaker 8: It was like a whole relationship.
[7:47] Speaker 4: She's like, then we went to a roastery.
[7:50] Speaker 8: Okay.
[7:51] Speaker 2: We did a whole week's worth in one day.
[7:54] Speaker 8: Oh, well, that's nice.
[7:55] Speaker 1: And you haven't heard anything.
[7:56] Speaker 9: Exactly.
[7:57] Speaker 2: This is why now I have to call you. It's
[7:59] Speaker 2: been a few days. Suddenly you were cold. So, like,
[8:03] Speaker 2: I literally know nothing.
[8:05] Speaker 4: Well, this is a good thing. Sometimes one date can
[8:08] Speaker 4: turn into a whole weekend. You know, it's a good
[8:10] Speaker 4: thing if you were both on the same page. Who
[8:12] Speaker 4: are we to say this is bad?
[8:13] Speaker 8: But sometimes hanging out too much, that's like the kiss
[8:16] Speaker 8: of death.
[8:17] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[8:18] Speaker 2: Could be.
[8:18] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[8:19] Speaker 8: Let's find out. Sit tight. We'll come back. We'll call
[8:22] Speaker 8: Alex for you and try and get you your second
[8:23] Speaker 8: date update right after this, okay?
[8:25] Speaker 2: Perfect. Thank you, guys.
[8:26] Speaker 8: Hold on.
[8:27] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[8:28] Speaker 3: Second date update.
[8:31] Speaker 8: It's a date that started off amazing. They locked eyes
[8:36] Speaker 8: across a crowded gym, had an instant vibe going, decided
[8:41] Speaker 8: to hang out.
[8:42] Speaker 4: Okay.
[8:42] Speaker 8: But 14 hours and 200 cups of coffee later, they're
[8:48] Speaker 8: not speaking to each other anymore. Yeah. Our listener Vanessa
[8:52] Speaker 8: doesn't blame Brooke for that.
[8:54] Speaker 1: Good. Why would she?
[8:55] Speaker 8: I do.
[8:56] Speaker 5: What?
[8:56] Speaker 2: Why do you blame me?
[8:58] Speaker 8: I don't know. It just feels right.
[8:59] Speaker 6: Okay.
[9:00] Speaker 8: But we don't know what the reason is, actually, for
[9:03] Speaker 8: why her date Alex isn't calling her back.
[9:06] Speaker 1: Maybe he just hasn't had his coffee yet, you know?
[9:08] Speaker 4: Or maybe he's finally asleep after seven days of his coffee.
[9:12] Speaker 1: You mean a caffeine coma.
[9:13] Speaker 5: Yes. Possibly.
[9:14] Speaker 8: But it is odd because she ended up spending the
[9:16] Speaker 8: night over at Alex's place.
[9:18] Speaker 1: And they went to coffee afterwards.
[9:20] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[9:20] Speaker 1: Like, usually if it's going to be weird and awkward...
[9:24] Speaker 1: There's a reason that you have to go.
[9:25] Speaker 8: You're going to have to leave. I got to get
[9:26] Speaker 8: ready for work. So we have a mystery on our hands.
[9:29] Speaker 8: We're going to get to the bottom of it. How
[9:31] Speaker 8: are you feeling here, Vanessa? Do you need some coffee?
[9:35] Speaker 2: No, I am good. I'm confident. I'm ready for you
[9:38] Speaker 2: guys to help.
[9:39] Speaker 1: What do you think it is? Just any guesses before
[9:41] Speaker 1: we call?
[9:43] Speaker 2: No, I really had so much fun. I just don't
[9:45] Speaker 2: even know.
[9:46] Speaker 5: Okay.
[9:46] Speaker 1: I'm wondering what her coffee order is. Is it weird?
[9:48] Speaker 1: You guys, she stayed the night and he took her
[9:50] Speaker 1: out to coffee again this morning.
[9:52] Speaker 4: Oh, maybe you were Big Spoon.
[9:55] Speaker 8: And he didn't enjoy that. Some guys love it, some.
[9:57] Speaker 4: Guys hate it.
[9:57] Speaker 1: Maybe he wanted to be Sir Stick.
[9:59] Speaker 5: No.
[10:00] Speaker 4: That's a good coffee joke. Come on, guys.
[10:03] Speaker 2: Give her a laugh.
[10:04] Speaker 8: That was fun.
[10:04] Speaker 4: Thanks, Jose.
[10:05] Speaker 8: I don't know what that even means, but we're gonna,
[10:09] Speaker 8: on that note, call Alex for you and try and
[10:12] Speaker 8: get your second date update, okay? Okay, I'm ready. Us two,
[10:17] Speaker 8: I think. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Alex?
[10:31] Speaker 5: No, this is Alan.
[10:33] Speaker 4: Alan.
[10:33] Speaker 6: Alan?
[10:34] Speaker 1: Do you know Alex?
[10:36] Speaker 10: No.
[10:37] Speaker 5: This is Alan. I'm pretty sure I know my name.
[10:40] Speaker 4: Is that another radio show calling him? I'm going to
[10:42] Speaker 4: be so mad.
[10:42] Speaker 8: You didn't have a roommate named Alex or something? Or
[10:44] Speaker 8: someone who shares his phone?
[10:45] Speaker 2: No.
[10:46] Speaker 8: Who is this?
[10:47] Speaker 6: Whoa.
[10:48] Speaker 5: What's going on?
[10:49] Speaker 8: You were a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey
[10:51] Speaker 8: in the morning.
[10:51] Speaker 1: Did we get the name wrong?
[10:53] Speaker 5: Wow.
[10:53] Speaker 8: I don't think so. I thought we heard it right.
[10:55] Speaker 4: She said it in a I don't know.
[10:57] Speaker 1: We get names wrong a lot.
[10:58] Speaker 8: One of our listeners is a girl that says that
[11:00] Speaker 8: she went on a date with you. Did you go
[11:03] Speaker 8: out with someone recently that you met at a gym?
[11:06] Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about. Vanessa?
[11:08] Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
[11:10] Speaker 8: Yeah. Okay, so this is the right guy.
[11:11] Speaker 1: Oh, no. Did she get your name wrong?
[11:14] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[11:15] Speaker 5: I mean, honestly, the date was going great, but she
[11:17] Speaker 5: just kept calling me all these different names. She called
[11:19] Speaker 5: me Andrew. She called me Andy. She called me Alan
[11:24] Speaker 5: at one point. She got my name right at one point.
[11:27] Speaker 4: By accident?
[11:28] Speaker 11: Yeah.
[11:28] Speaker 5: Then she called me Aaron like a second later.
[11:31] Speaker 1: I don't get it, though.
[11:31] Speaker 6: It sounds like you're mad at her, but I mean,
[11:34] Speaker 6: this is the woman that stayed the night at your house, right?
[11:37] Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, it was crazy. I kept taking us
[11:40] Speaker 5: to Starbucks because they would call my name out. I
[11:43] Speaker 5: was trying to get her to.
[11:46] Speaker 8: Oh, my God.
[11:47] Speaker 1: Brilliant, bro.
[11:49] Speaker 8: Wait, she mentioned going to the coffee shop a bunch
[11:51] Speaker 8: of times during your date, but she said it's because
[11:53] Speaker 8: you were a coffee addict. That's what you told her.
[11:55] Speaker 5: I was just trying to be subtle, and this is
[11:58] Speaker 5: my name.
[11:58] Speaker 2: Oh.
[12:00] Speaker 8: Oh my God, so you.
[12:01] Speaker 6: Were only taking her so that the barista would call
[12:04] Speaker 6: out your.
[12:04] Speaker 8: Name, Alan.
[12:05] Speaker 5: Yeah, so they're yelling my name over and over.
[12:07] Speaker 1: Oh, that is so uncomfortable. Why didn't you tell, why
[12:11] Speaker 1: weren't you just more direct?
[12:13] Speaker 5: I did, I did correct her, but after the second
[12:16] Speaker 5: time of correcting her, I just thought Starbucks would fix it.
[12:20] Speaker 1: But you corrected her twice?
[12:21] Speaker 11: Of course.
[12:23] Speaker 6: What did she say when you told her, that's not
[12:25] Speaker 6: my name, my name's Alan?
[12:26] Speaker 5: She just smiled and said, okay.
[12:30] Speaker 4: She wasn't even embarrassed?
[12:32] Speaker 8: I would have been mortified. She just had hearts in
[12:34] Speaker 8: her eyes looking at him like, whatever you say.
[12:36] Speaker 4: Sure, Alakazam.
[12:38] Speaker 8: Amos.
[12:38] Speaker 5: I was ready to suggest like tattoos that we could
[12:41] Speaker 5: get over each of our names.
[12:43] Speaker 8: Oh my God. But you know, I'm willing to bet
[12:46] Speaker 8: that if we talk to her randomly right now, that
[12:49] Speaker 8: she would get your name right.
[12:51] Speaker 1: I hope.
[12:52] Speaker 10: Randomly?
[12:53] Speaker 8: And we should put it to the test because... She's
[12:56] Speaker 8: randomly on the phone right now listening and wanting to
[12:59] Speaker 8: talk to you, Alan.
[13:03] Speaker 2: Hi.
[13:03] Speaker 6: Hi.
[13:04] Speaker 5: I don't really know what to say.
[13:06] Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. I'm so embarrassed. I listened to your
[13:10] Speaker 2: whole thing. I just kind of have a bad memory sometimes.
[13:13] Speaker 2: Like if I'm wrapped up in the moment. I don't
[13:16] Speaker 2: pay attention to the details.
[13:17] Speaker 4: Oh, you're just awful with names.
[13:19] Speaker 8: I get that for a moment, but for a 14-hour date,
[13:21] Speaker 8: it's a little longer than a moment.
[13:25] Speaker 6: You know, details is like what color shirt he's wearing,
[13:27] Speaker 6: not what his name is.
[13:30] Speaker 2: But like, just because we're in Starbucks, I mean, I'm
[13:31] Speaker 2: not like staring at his cup to see what was
[13:34] Speaker 2: written or we're talking, having fun. I'm not listening to
[13:37] Speaker 2: hear what his name is when they call it out.
[13:39] Speaker 5: Okay.
[13:40] Speaker 8: We're still waiting for that, that I'm sorry for getting
[13:43] Speaker 8: your name wrong. If you want to throw that in there,
[13:45] Speaker 8: that's okay.
[13:46] Speaker 2: Alan, I am so sorry. I feel foolish. I was
[13:50] Speaker 2: having so much fun, though.
[13:53] Speaker 5: Look, I don't know what to tell you. I mean,
[13:57] Speaker 5: it was just very awkward. You couldn't remember.
[14:00] Speaker 8: I don't know.
[14:00] Speaker 5: Why can't you remember my name? Why is it so hard?
[14:03] Speaker 2: Alan is a pretty common name. It doesn't stand out.
[14:08] Speaker 5: It's my fault.
[14:09] Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's your fault. I mean, maybe we
[14:12] Speaker 2: can blame whoever named you a little bit. They could
[14:15] Speaker 2: have been a little more creative.
[14:18] Speaker 8: Alan, is it your mom or your dad that we should....
[14:23] Speaker 6: There's no way you're an Allen without being a junior
[14:27] Speaker 6: or a second or something.
[14:28] Speaker 2: I feel like I would have remembered it better if
[14:30] Speaker 2: you were like Felix or Spud. Like just something that
[14:33] Speaker 2: really kind of stands out. Spud? Spud?
[14:36] Speaker 8: Spud.
[14:36] Speaker 1: Wait, spud like a nickname, like a potato?
[14:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, like a tater.
[14:39] Speaker 2: See, you remember. You can do that association.
[14:43] Speaker 8: It stands out.
[14:44] Speaker 6: Well, I mean, that could be a positive. Maybe you
[14:47] Speaker 6: could come up with a cute pet name for him.
[14:49] Speaker 8: Oh, good idea, Brooke.
[14:50] Speaker 1: And then you never have to call him Alan.
[14:52] Speaker 4: Call him Bean, like Coffee Bean.
[14:54] Speaker 5: My name is Alan. I just like to be called that.
[14:57] Speaker 8: Yeah, but it's not working for you, is it?
[14:59] Speaker 4: Not for any of us.
[15:00] Speaker 6: My uncle's name was Alan, and he went by Lan,
[15:03] Speaker 6: like the second half of Alan.
[15:04] Speaker 1: I think that's kind of cool, yeah.
[15:06] Speaker 8: You could go like A-train or something like that.
[15:11] Speaker 4: Yeah, atrium.
[15:12] Speaker 1: A to the double L, A-N.
[15:14] Speaker 4: Sorry, that's a.
[15:16] Speaker 8: Spot off the roof.
[15:17] Speaker 5: I don't like any of these ideas.
[15:18] Speaker 4: Maybe it's only one L.
[15:20] Speaker 8: I just want to be Alan.
[15:21] Speaker 5: I'll give you this, right? If you can spell my
[15:23] Speaker 5: name right now, then I will go out with you again.
[15:27] Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
[15:27] Speaker 8: Is that a challenge to Vanessa? It's a good point.
[15:31] Speaker 8: At this point, she's seen it written out three times
[15:33] Speaker 8: at three different Starbucks stores.
[15:35] Speaker 1: I mean, and all you can really screw up is
[15:36] Speaker 1: the L's on this one.
[15:37] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[15:38] Speaker 8: Nowadays, you can have an I in there.
[15:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, there's E-N, there's A-N.
[15:42] Speaker 2: You want me to spell your name? Like I said,
[15:44] Speaker 2: I wasn't staring at the coffee cups the whole time.
[15:47] Speaker 2: I was staring at you.
[15:49] Speaker 6: Maybe if she could just tell you what your eye
[15:51] Speaker 6: color is, it could prove that she really was paying attention.
[15:54] Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
[15:55] Speaker 5: No, we're not changing the test. You have to spell
[15:57] Speaker 5: my name.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Okay, well, this should be.
[15:59] Speaker 8: It's a good opportunity for you, Vanessa. If you get
[16:02] Speaker 8: his name spelled correctly, then we will send you guys
[16:05] Speaker 8: out on a date and pay for it.
[16:06] Speaker 1: Do we have one of those, like, game show timers
[16:08] Speaker 1: to put on? Yeah, I feel like I'm on Jeopardy.
[16:11] Speaker 8: Just go with your gut. If you really want him,
[16:15] Speaker 8: you're going to spell it. If it's meant to be.
[16:17] Speaker 1: This is, like, the best Spelling Bee Championship ever.
[16:19] Speaker 8: All right, here we go.
[16:20] Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Okay, deep breaths. I'm going to go
[16:25] Speaker 2: with A-L-L-A-N.
[16:27] Speaker 4: Oh, it's an A or an E. I feel like
[16:32] Speaker 4: it's only.
[16:32] Speaker 1: One L when there's an A, but the two L's
[16:34] Speaker 1: with an E.
[16:35] Speaker 8: Was it right?
[16:37] Speaker 5: No, there's only one L.
[16:39] Speaker 6: Ah!
[16:40] Speaker 9: Oh, my God.
[16:42] Speaker 4: Oh, darn it.
[16:44] Speaker 1: Well, Vanessa.
[16:45] Speaker 2: You said I was cute and you had a good time.
[16:47] Speaker 2: We cannot ruin the whole thing just based on this
[16:50] Speaker 2: mistake I'm making.
[16:51] Speaker 4: She does have a point there. Other than that, there
[16:54] Speaker 4: was nothing crazy that happened, right?
[16:56] Speaker 1: That's pretty crazy. There's no red flag.
[16:59] Speaker 2: You're like crazy good.
[17:02] Speaker 6: I mean, you liked her so much you gave her
[17:04] Speaker 6: one last shot at the coffee shop.
[17:05] Speaker 5: I can't go back on the test, okay? I'll give
[17:08] Speaker 5: you one more shot.
[17:09] Speaker 8: What?
[17:09] Speaker 5: One more chance to spell it.
[17:11] Speaker 1: You just told me. Oh, yeah.
[17:12] Speaker 8: Well, this should be easy.
[17:13] Speaker 6: Go ahead.
[17:13] Speaker 4: There you go.
[17:14] Speaker 5: It's just a layup right now.
[17:15] Speaker 2: I wasn't really listening to how you spelled it in
[17:17] Speaker 2: the end. I was just listening to your voice.
[17:20] Speaker 8: Oh, my God. Come on.
[17:21] Speaker 3: Just do it.
[17:22] Speaker 1: Spell it.
[17:23] Speaker 8: Just spell it different than the way you did the
[17:25] Speaker 8: first time.
[17:25] Speaker 2: Yes. Okay, I'll change from what I did. I'm going
[17:28] Speaker 2: to go with A-L-L-E-N.
[17:29] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
[17:34] Speaker 4: That's actually worse.
[17:36] Speaker 2: I got it wrong again? How is this even possible?
[17:43] Speaker 1: If only he went by Al.
[17:48] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[17:51] Speaker 8: Man, if I had a nickel for every second date
[17:53] Speaker 8: that didn't happen because somebody failed a spelling test live
[17:57] Speaker 8: on the air.
[17:58] Speaker 4: That's like, what.
[18:00] Speaker 8: The sixth or seventh time that that's happened to us?
[18:02] Speaker 4: I can't recall that, Jeff.
[18:04] Speaker 1: What is her? I mean, like, I'm terrible at names.
[18:06] Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
[18:07] Speaker 4: Oh, so am I. But how?
[18:09] Speaker 1: How is that even possible?
[18:11] Speaker 8: I don't blame her.
[18:11] Speaker 4: I told you how to spell it.
[18:13] Speaker 8: Alan is such a rare exotic name. I doubt anybody
[18:16] Speaker 8: could spell it right. Even Alan himself probably messes it
[18:19] Speaker 8: up on his own tax forms.
[18:20] Speaker 3: You think that?
[18:20] Speaker 1: Maybe he spelled it wrong?
[18:21] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[18:22] Speaker 4: Is it four or five A's?
[18:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, let's blame him, Jeff.
[18:24] Speaker 8: I mean, everybody else did.
[18:26] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[18:26] Speaker 4: I don't think so.
[18:28] Speaker 8: No second date. And honestly, I don't think anybody was
[18:30] Speaker 8: that sad about it.
[18:31] Speaker 6: I like how Jose didn't think that not knowing his
[18:34] Speaker 6: name was a big red flag.
[18:35] Speaker 8: Did you know that? One tiny thing.
[18:40] Speaker 1: I forget names all the time.
[18:44] Speaker 8: That was funny. But yeah, no date for them. Doesn't
[18:47] Speaker 8: mean we can't get a date for you, though. If
[18:48] Speaker 8: you ever want to email the show, we'll call the
[18:50] Speaker 8: person who isn't calling you back. You can check out
[18:51] Speaker 8: all of our podcasts up wherever you get yours at
[18:54] Speaker 8: Brooke and Jeffrey.
[18:55] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[18:59] Speaker 8: They say people do stupid things in the name of love.
[19:02] Speaker 1: Oh, isn't that true, Jeff?
[19:04] Speaker 8: But normally, that's referring to after you've been dating them
[19:07] Speaker 8: for a while. You say something crazy or chop off
[19:10] Speaker 8: a body part and mail it to them, Vincent Van
[19:13] Speaker 8: Gogh style.
[19:14] Speaker 10: Dang!
[19:14] Speaker 5: Dang!
[19:15] Speaker 4: Would that fly nowadays?
[19:16] Speaker 1: I mean, just one ear.
[19:18] Speaker 8: Might as well try. But one of our listeners admits
[19:21] Speaker 8: she did something stupid just to meet a guy.
[19:25] Speaker 1: Oh.
[19:26] Speaker 8: Was it her idea?
[19:28] Speaker 9: No.
[19:29] Speaker 8: Was it embarrassing? Yes. Was it effective in getting the
[19:34] Speaker 8: guy's attention? I guess you'll have to find out when
[19:37] Speaker 8: you hear what she did in your Second Date Update. Next.
[19:41] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[19:42] Speaker 3: Second Date Update.
[19:44] Speaker 8: Oh. I want to ask Alexis a dating question. But
[19:49] Speaker 8: I know that she would never do this, so I'll
[19:52] Speaker 8: ask a more uninhibited person. Brooke, in your single days,
[19:57] Speaker 8: if there was a cute guy, how many times would
[19:59] Speaker 8: you attempt to get his attention before you finally gave
[20:03] Speaker 8: up and settled for his dad? what's the maximum number
[20:08] Speaker 8: of times that you would go in.
[20:09] Speaker 6: I'm not a subtle person so normally I would just
[20:12] Speaker 6: approach the dude and start chatting with them and then
[20:15] Speaker 6: if they've push me off, then I move on to
[20:17] Speaker 6: the next dude.
[20:18] Speaker 1: Physically have to push you off.
[20:18] Speaker 6: I mean, if the next dude at the bar happened
[20:21] Speaker 6: to be his dad, then so be it.
[20:22] Speaker 8: Okay. You're a one strike and it's done type of policy.
[20:26] Speaker 1: I mean, I take the hint.
[20:27] Speaker 8: Okay.
[20:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the best way to put it.
[20:29] Speaker 8: Well, you're different than one of our listeners who admits
[20:32] Speaker 8: that she had to try multiple times to get a
[20:35] Speaker 8: cute guy's attention until it finally worked.
[20:39] Speaker 5: Oh.
[20:39] Speaker 8: So maybe we can all learn a lesson from her.
[20:41] Speaker 8: Her name is Angie. So Angie, welcome to the show.
[20:44] Speaker 10: Hi, thank you.
[20:45] Speaker 1: It sounds like you're a more subtle lady than I.
[20:47] Speaker 8: Or she's not.
[20:49] Speaker 4: We're idiots. Like, you've really got to spell stuff out
[20:51] Speaker 4: for us.
[20:52] Speaker 8: Yeah, we don't know anything about this guy or how
[20:54] Speaker 8: you met him, so tell us the whole story. Like,
[20:56] Speaker 8: what's his name?
[20:58] Speaker 10: His name's Jason, and I met him, like, just out
[21:01] Speaker 10: at the bars with my friend a little while ago.
[21:04] Speaker 8: Okay, and was his father with him, too, or was
[21:08] Speaker 8: it just like a guy's night?
[21:10] Speaker 10: It was a girl's night for me. I was there
[21:11] Speaker 10: with a bunch of my girlfriends, but he was just
[21:13] Speaker 10: there with like one other buddy of his.
[21:16] Speaker 8: So you saw Jason come into the bar or how
[21:18] Speaker 8: did it work?
[21:19] Speaker 10: Yeah, I like noticed him come in. And when he did,
[21:22] Speaker 10: I turned to my girlfriends and I was like, oh
[21:23] Speaker 10: my gosh, he's so cute. They were like giving me
[21:26] Speaker 10: suggestions on what I should do. So they were like,
[21:29] Speaker 10: go order a drink like over near where they're at
[21:32] Speaker 10: the bar.
[21:32] Speaker 4: Maybe like if you can catch his eye.
[21:34] Speaker 1: Or you can get a free drink. That's what I mean. Yeah,
[21:36] Speaker 1: you gotta be in range. Yeah, yeah. That's what I mean.
[21:38] Speaker 8: A lot of options for you.
[21:39] Speaker 5: Okay.
[21:39] Speaker 10: So I went up and I ordered like Right next
[21:42] Speaker 10: to him, and I even, like, bumped into him so
[21:46] Speaker 10: that I could apologize.
[21:47] Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
[21:48] Speaker 6: I mean, I would guess, I don't know because I'm
[21:51] Speaker 6: not a dude, but I would guess that no matter what,
[21:54] Speaker 6: he'd be flattered by all.
[21:55] Speaker 1: Of this, right?
[21:56] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
[21:57] Speaker 10: Well, I would think so, but I guess he thought
[21:59] Speaker 10: it really was an accident.
[22:00] Speaker 8: Yeah, okay.
[22:01] Speaker 1: Or he's not single.
[22:03] Speaker 6: Like, you don't know that some random person across the
[22:05] Speaker 6: bar is single.
[22:06] Speaker 8: Okay, so that was strike number one, the attempt that
[22:09] Speaker 8: didn't work.
[22:10] Speaker 10: So I went back to my friends, and I was like, well,
[22:12] Speaker 10: I guess he's not interested.
[22:14] Speaker 8: I did all of what you said. I went to
[22:15] Speaker 8: order a drink. I bumped him from behind, made him
[22:18] Speaker 8: spill everywhere. Nothing's working.
[22:19] Speaker 4: Get in the line. All of us bump into him.
[22:21] Speaker 8: One after another. Okay. So what was your next try?
[22:25] Speaker 10: Okay, so their next suggestion was, like, to go back
[22:28] Speaker 10: up when I finish my drink and order another one,
[22:30] Speaker 10: but this time order, like, next to his friend and
[22:33] Speaker 10: start talking to his friend to see if I could
[22:35] Speaker 10: make him jealous.
[22:37] Speaker 1: Oh, you make him jealous. What are your girlfriends saying? Like,
[22:40] Speaker 1: it sounds like an empty bar, and you're the only
[22:43] Speaker 1: one going back. The empty bar visual does not help.
[22:45] Speaker 4: After, like, the third time, they're like, this girl is
[22:47] Speaker 4: a drinking problem. She should only order by herself.
[22:50] Speaker 10: Well, the second time, the friend actually did start talking
[22:53] Speaker 10: to me, but then I started to feel like he
[22:54] Speaker 10: was interested in me.
[22:55] Speaker 1: Backfiring.
[22:57] Speaker 8: But maybe that would have made him a little bit
[22:59] Speaker 8: more jealous if you had started making out with his friend. No.
[23:03] Speaker 10: I don't want to get in a situation where I'm
[23:05] Speaker 10: breaking bro code, you know?
[23:06] Speaker 8: Yeah, totally.
[23:07] Speaker 4: You're thinking right, actually. I like this.
[23:09] Speaker 8: I mean, at what point do you ever get to
[23:11] Speaker 8: a conversation with him, or does that even happen?
[23:15] Speaker 10: Yeah, we're getting there. So I go back to the
[23:18] Speaker 10: table and I'm like, okay, I really think he's like,
[23:21] Speaker 10: doesn't care. And I'm drinking my drink and I'm getting
[23:24] Speaker 10: a little tipsy because I drank the first one a
[23:26] Speaker 10: little fast. And then they were like, okay, this is
[23:28] Speaker 10: a dumb idea, but we think you should go up
[23:30] Speaker 10: and fall.
[23:31] Speaker 1: Fall?
[23:32] Speaker 10: Like pretend to trip and fall next to him.
[23:35] Speaker 6: Why are not any of your girlfriends just walking up
[23:37] Speaker 6: for you and saying, look at that cute girl.
[23:40] Speaker 1: She likes you.
[23:41] Speaker 5: No, no, no.
[23:42] Speaker 8: Have 20 drinks and fall in front of him.
[23:44] Speaker 9: Then he'll love you.
[23:46] Speaker 10: I'm not saying it was the best idea, but it
[23:48] Speaker 10: was the one we.
[23:49] Speaker 5: Came up with.
[23:50] Speaker 8: Okay.
[23:51] Speaker 4: Here we go.
[23:51] Speaker 10: So I did that.
[23:53] Speaker 8: And so did he notice you then?
[23:54] Speaker 1: Or did he turn back around and just keep drinking.
[23:57] Speaker 8: While you're on the floor?
[23:58] Speaker 10: No, that time it worked. He noticed and he like
[24:01] Speaker 10: got up and helped me up.
[24:03] Speaker 4: I was going to ask if he helped you.
[24:05] Speaker 8: What a hero.
[24:05] Speaker 10: Yeah, he did.
[24:06] Speaker 5: He did.
[24:07] Speaker 8: He's a good guy.
[24:08] Speaker 4: All right. So now this is your end. What do
[24:10] Speaker 4: you say? What was your line?
[24:12] Speaker 10: I was like, oh, sorry. I think I'm just a
[24:14] Speaker 10: little bit tipsy. Like, I really need to sit down.
[24:17] Speaker 10: Would you mind like walking me to a table? And
[24:22] Speaker 10: he sat down with me just to like make sure
[24:24] Speaker 10: I was OK. And we ended up talking for like
[24:26] Speaker 10: 30 minutes. And by the end, we like had exchanged numbers.
[24:30] Speaker 10: And I was like, yeah, I'm free next Friday. And
[24:32] Speaker 10: he was like, OK, cool. I'll like text you.
[24:35] Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
[24:36] Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
[24:37] Speaker 8: OK.
[24:37] Speaker 4: Worked.
[24:39] Speaker 10: Well, I thought it did. But then I never.
[24:42] Speaker 5: Got a call.
[24:45] Speaker 1: I still think that he could be in a relationship.
[24:47] Speaker 4: No, you're right. He could have just done it to
[24:49] Speaker 4: get her out of his way and he's never going
[24:50] Speaker 4: to answer that.
[24:50] Speaker 1: Like she said, she was a drunk girl falling in
[24:52] Speaker 1: the bar.
[24:53] Speaker 8: Brooke, do you give out your numbers to guys who
[24:55] Speaker 8: ask for it drunkenly just out of kindness? No.
[24:58] Speaker 4: If you're drunk, text right now, Brooke.
[25:01] Speaker 1: I mean, it's so easy to block a number.
[25:03] Speaker 4: Why not?
[25:03] Speaker 6: I just think that if he's in a new relationship
[25:07] Speaker 6: or something and whatever.
[25:08] Speaker 4: No, you're right.
[25:09] Speaker 1: And he doesn't call back.
[25:10] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good point.
[25:12] Speaker 8: And sorry. How long did you say it's been since
[25:14] Speaker 8: this bar interaction?
[25:16] Speaker 10: I think it's been like a week and a half.
[25:17] Speaker 4: Still hazy.
[25:18] Speaker 1: Still hazy.
[25:19] Speaker 4: She may have got a concussion when she fell.
[25:20] Speaker 8: Right, that hangover plus the bruising. You needed time to
[25:24] Speaker 8: get yourself back together. So we'll get ourselves together. We'll
[25:28] Speaker 8: come back. We'll call Jason for you, and we'll try
[25:30] Speaker 8: to get you your second date update, even if we
[25:33] Speaker 8: have to try three, four, 700 times to get him
[25:35] Speaker 8: on the phone. He's willing to fall down. One of
[25:39] Speaker 8: us will right after this.
[25:40] Speaker 5: Hold on.
[25:40] Speaker 9: Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
[25:42] Speaker 3: Second date update.
[25:45] Speaker 8: There's a reason they call it falling in love.
[25:48] Speaker 6: Oh.
[25:48] Speaker 8: Because sometimes you literally have to fall down in a
[25:51] Speaker 8: bar to get a guy's attention.
[25:53] Speaker 6: Wow.
[25:54] Speaker 8: And that's what our listener Angie did on purpose to
[25:57] Speaker 8: strike up a conversation with a guy named Jason.
[25:59] Speaker 4: And it worked. Like, I'm laughing, but it worked. It did.
[26:02] Speaker 8: It was actually her friend's idea to fake a tumble, but...
[26:06] Speaker 8: It ended up starting the connection. He helped her up.
[26:08] Speaker 8: They sat together for a while, just chatting and getting
[26:11] Speaker 8: to know each other and checking for concussion symptoms. Wow.
[26:15] Speaker 1: Let me check your pupils one more time.
[26:17] Speaker 8: So romantic. After they exchanged numbers, there's really been no
[26:21] Speaker 8: contact between Angie and Jason.
[26:23] Speaker 1: God, he hasn't even called to check up on her.
[26:25] Speaker 8: I know, what a jerk. And here's the thing, my
[26:27] Speaker 8: plan going into this is not to tell him that
[26:30] Speaker 8: the fall was just a ruse designed to get his attention.
[26:34] Speaker 1: Duh, Jeff.
[26:34] Speaker 8: I like being on the same page with you about
[26:36] Speaker 8: this stuff.
[26:37] Speaker 6: Yes.
[26:38] Speaker 8: Okay?
[26:39] Speaker 7: Nobody was going to mention it.
[26:40] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[26:41] Speaker 8: I'm just clarifying.
[26:42] Speaker 1: I know, but it's weird that you have to even
[26:43] Speaker 1: say it out loud.
[26:44] Speaker 8: Angie, are you okay with us not bringing up that
[26:46] Speaker 8: it was done on purpose?
[26:48] Speaker 5: I didn't even think that was an option.
[26:51] Speaker 4: It wasn't.
[26:51] Speaker 3: It wasn't.
[26:51] Speaker 2: Don't worry. Okay.
[26:53] Speaker 8: All the options are on the table. It's good that
[26:55] Speaker 8: we're all on the same page, though, that we're not
[26:57] Speaker 8: going to say that.
[26:58] Speaker 5: Yes.
[26:58] Speaker 8: You're not still hung up on one of your ex-boyfriends, right?
[27:00] Speaker 8: Because I won't bring that up either.
[27:01] Speaker 4: We don't bring it up.
[27:03] Speaker 5: Okay.
[27:03] Speaker 8: You're really lucky that I'm the one driving the car
[27:05] Speaker 8: on this one because we're going to stay right in
[27:08] Speaker 8: between those two lanes.
[27:09] Speaker 1: I'm close to crashing into your car. Jeff's like, so
[27:12] Speaker 1: should we bring up childhood traumas now?
[27:14] Speaker 8: We always can.
[27:16] Speaker 10: Only if I get a second date.
[27:18] Speaker 8: That's a good stipulation.
[27:21] Speaker 1: It's shocking that people still call it for our help.
[27:24] Speaker 3: I know.
[27:24] Speaker 4: It's got to be entertaining.
[27:25] Speaker 8: We just know how to do this.
[27:27] Speaker 5: Okay.
[27:27] Speaker 8: I'm going to dial Jason. Let's see if he answers.
[27:29] Speaker 8: Here we go.
[27:37] Speaker 5: Hello?
[27:38] Speaker 8: Hey, is this Jason?
[27:40] Speaker 1: This is him.
[27:41] Speaker 11: Who's this?
[27:42] Speaker 8: Hey, man, we're actually a radio show called Brooke and
[27:45] Speaker 8: Jeffrey in the morning.
[27:45] Speaker 1: Hey, Jason. Hi.
[27:47] Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
[27:48] Speaker 8: I'm Jeff.
[27:49] Speaker 4: Yes. He's not Jason.
[27:52] Speaker 1: So strong, Jeff.
[27:52] Speaker 8: Of Brooke and Jeffrey.
[27:53] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[27:56] Speaker 5: Hello? Yeah.
[27:58] Speaker 8: Okay.
[27:59] Speaker 2: Sorry.
[28:00] Speaker 8: You're weird.
[28:01] Speaker 10: My bad.
[28:01] Speaker 8: Let me just tell you what we're calling about because
[28:03] Speaker 8: this is a segment we do called A Second Date Update.
[28:06] Speaker 8: We're trying to help out one of our listeners get
[28:08] Speaker 8: in touch with you after you met recently at a bar.
[28:12] Speaker 2: Okay.
[28:13] Speaker 8: Girl named Angie.
[28:14] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[28:14] Speaker 1: There was never any real first date.
[28:16] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[28:16] Speaker 8: You like helped her.
[28:19] Speaker 11: I helped her get up off of the ground.
[28:22] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[28:22] Speaker 1: Right.
[28:23] Speaker 6: That's the one.
[28:27] Speaker 4: Ground girl.
[28:29] Speaker 8: We're just calling her Angie. Cause that's her name. And, um,
[28:33] Speaker 8: we know you didn't hang out for too long, but
[28:34] Speaker 8: there was a little bit of a connection romantically, maybe
[28:37] Speaker 8: between the two of you that night, maybe a little
[28:40] Speaker 8: bit of a spark.
[28:40] Speaker 1: Wait, did you just laugh?
[28:43] Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, I did laugh a little bit there.
[28:46] Speaker 8: Okay.
[28:47] Speaker 1: Oh, like a good laugh?
[28:49] Speaker 8: Yeah. Why are you laughing?
[28:51] Speaker 4: Romantic laugh?
[28:53] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[28:53] Speaker 11: Yeah, I don't know about having a romantic connection there.
[28:56] Speaker 8: Okay, well, maybe that was a little bit strong, but
[28:58] Speaker 8: she felt like that you guys were hitting it off,
[29:01] Speaker 8: and there could be, and you exchanged numbers. She's a
[29:04] Speaker 8: little bit confused that afterwards you haven't reached out to
[29:08] Speaker 8: her at all. Um.
[29:11] Speaker 11: I don't know what she remembers.
[29:15] Speaker 5: Oh.
[29:16] Speaker 4: She mentioned she had a couple drinks. Yeah.
[29:17] Speaker 1: What did she do?
[29:20] Speaker 2: Well, she fell.
[29:21] Speaker 1: Well, I know that part.
[29:22] Speaker 8: Yeah, we heard that.
[29:23] Speaker 1: I'm talking about, it sounds like something embarrassing happened.
[29:26] Speaker 4: That is embarrassing, Brooke.
[29:27] Speaker 8: To most people. Brooke's like, I do that every time
[29:31] Speaker 8: I walk in a restaurant. Was there more than the falling?
[29:34] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[29:34] Speaker 8: You know what it was?
[29:37] Speaker 11: She was interested in me, and that's... interesting. So I
[29:43] Speaker 11: was asking her questions about herself because I was open
[29:47] Speaker 11: to the possibility.
[29:48] Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
[29:50] Speaker 8: There you go. So, I mean, it sounds like something
[29:53] Speaker 8: changed your mind?
[29:54] Speaker 11: Yeah. When I asked her, what makes you laugh? It
[29:58] Speaker 11: took her a while to think of the answer.
[30:01] Speaker 1: Well, that's a hard question. I wouldn't even know what
[30:03] Speaker 1: to answer.
[30:04] Speaker 11: Yeah, but I was helping her. I was giving her suggestions,
[30:07] Speaker 11: different movies, TV shows.
[30:10] Speaker 4: Oh, just list anything.
[30:12] Speaker 8: And what did she say?
[30:14] Speaker 11: Well, what makes her laugh is videos of little children
[30:19] Speaker 11: falling down and getting hurt.
[30:21] Speaker 8: No!
[30:21] Speaker 1: No!
[30:23] Speaker 8: I'm sorry.
[30:24] Speaker 7: Isn't that what America's Funniest Home Videos used to be?
[30:27] Speaker 4: One of the best Instagram pages is called The Kids
[30:29] Speaker 4: Getting Hurt. Yeah. But not like really hurt.
[30:32] Speaker 1: Was that a red flag to you?
[30:35] Speaker 11: Yeah, that's a pretty strong red flag.
[30:39] Speaker 6: And maybe she was trying to be funny because she
[30:41] Speaker 6: had just fallen down, right?
[30:44] Speaker 8: Let's not make excuses for her. Let's hear what is
[30:48] Speaker 8: it about children falling down that's so off-putting.
[30:50] Speaker 11: It wasn't just that she said, yeah, sometimes on Instagram
[30:54] Speaker 11: I might see videos of kids falling down. It was
[30:57] Speaker 11: that she had saved in her phone compilations.
[31:00] Speaker 4: Oh, wait.
[31:01] Speaker 11: And anytime she's got a bad day or had a
[31:03] Speaker 11: long day, she comes home and opens these videos of
[31:07] Speaker 11: kids falling down.
[31:08] Speaker 6: Come on, I'm a mother of two and I approve.
[31:13] Speaker 8: Jason, why is that like a big red flag to
[31:16] Speaker 8: you that she finds humor in children falling?
[31:20] Speaker 11: It's not one video. It's not a couple of videos.
[31:23] Speaker 11: She has dozens of videos.
[31:26] Speaker 1: Did you give the videos a chance? Did you watch
[31:29] Speaker 1: any yourself? Yeah.
[31:30] Speaker 11: I mean, she was trying to show them to me,
[31:32] Speaker 11: but she couldn't get to them wherever they were. She
[31:35] Speaker 11: had a head injury.
[31:38] Speaker 8: From falling.
[31:38] Speaker 4: She's laughing, trying to find him even.
[31:40] Speaker 1: I think she was more drunk than concussed.
[31:43] Speaker 8: Also drunk.
[31:44] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[31:44] Speaker 4: The fall wasn't like.
[31:46] Speaker 8: Jason, the good news is it sounded like you were
[31:47] Speaker 8: genuinely concerned about Angie's well-being.
[31:50] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[31:50] Speaker 8: Checking in on her. And I'm happy to inform you
[31:54] Speaker 8: that Angie is fully recovered, doing really well. In fact,
[31:58] Speaker 8: she's on the other line of this phone call right now.
[32:01] Speaker 8: Probably just laughing at the idea of children falling all
[32:04] Speaker 8: over the place. But.
[32:05] Speaker 10: I don't like them getting in. I'm not saying the
[32:07] Speaker 10: injury part is funny, but like people falling is funny.
[32:11] Speaker 10: And when they're little kids, like they're just more awkward.
[32:15] Speaker 11: Yeah, but why do you have so many of them?
[32:18] Speaker 11: You told me you have over a hundred videos.
[32:22] Speaker 10: I mean, I just, if I see one and it
[32:24] Speaker 10: makes me laugh, I save it for a bad day.
[32:27] Speaker 10: And I just like, I don't know, they build up.
[32:29] Speaker 10: It's not like I've been, that's the only thing I collect.
[32:32] Speaker 10: It's just like one of the things that I will save.
[32:35] Speaker 11: Yeah, but that's different than what you told me. You
[32:38] Speaker 11: told me, The only thing you save are videos of
[32:42] Speaker 11: them falling. You even said kids falling down stairs cracks
[32:46] Speaker 11: you up the most.
[32:47] Speaker 8: Oh, wait a minute.
[32:49] Speaker 4: That's a gauge.
[32:50] Speaker 1: That is such a niche genre.
[32:53] Speaker 10: I mean, you asked me what made me laugh and
[32:56] Speaker 10: I told you and now you're being super judgy about it.
[32:59] Speaker 11: Well, I wasn't going to call back a monster who
[33:01] Speaker 11: sits at home watching these videos.
[33:04] Speaker 5: Oh, monster.
[33:05] Speaker 6: Jason, you are not sounding very funny right now.
[33:07] Speaker 10: Don't knock it till you try it. You wouldn't even
[33:09] Speaker 10: watch one, so.
[33:10] Speaker 2: How do you know?
[33:11] Speaker 8: That's true, dude.
[33:12] Speaker 4: You should go to their page. Go follow it.
[33:14] Speaker 10: Like, I have this video of this little kid in
[33:16] Speaker 10: his little ranger car, and he, like, drives into, like,
[33:18] Speaker 10: this little ravine, and he.
[33:20] Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
[33:20] Speaker 10: Like, it's so funny.
[33:22] Speaker 5: Okay.
[33:23] Speaker 11: Driving a monster truck into a ravine. That's sick.
[33:27] Speaker 1: Oh, come on.
[33:29] Speaker 10: Well, I think I have my answer here.
[33:32] Speaker 8: Yeah. I mean, just to be totally fair on this,
[33:37] Speaker 8: we do need to offer Jason, we would send you
[33:40] Speaker 8: on an official first date with Angie and we would
[33:43] Speaker 8: pay for it if you're willing to give her a chance.
[33:45] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[33:46] Speaker 11: I don't think we're going to get along very well.
[33:48] Speaker 1: Okay.
[33:49] Speaker 8: Wow. I mean, what makes you laugh?
[33:51] Speaker 11: Oh, I like classic clowns from the 70s.
[33:54] Speaker 1: What?
[33:55] Speaker 8: Clowns from the 70s?
[33:58] Speaker 1: 1970s clowns?
[33:58] Speaker 10: You mean those things that terrorize children?
[34:02] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[34:03] Speaker 8: I mean, look, maybe you guys have more in common
[34:05] Speaker 8: than you realize, Jason.
[34:07] Speaker 1: I mean, there is a lot of slapstick and clown work.
[34:09] Speaker 8: You see a kid get squirted in the face with
[34:10] Speaker 8: a flower?
[34:11] Speaker 11: Those aren't true clowns. That's sort of the downfall of clowns.
[34:17] Speaker 6: Sounds like you like the French clowns.
[34:19] Speaker 8: Well, if this whole thing is finished and you two
[34:21] Speaker 8: aren't going to be going out, then I'm just going
[34:24] Speaker 8: to come out and say it just so you know, Jason,
[34:26] Speaker 8: Angie really is into falling, not just kids falling, but
[34:30] Speaker 8: adults too. Because she orchestrated the whole falling thing just
[34:33] Speaker 8: to meet you.
[34:34] Speaker 11: Why would you do that?
[34:35] Speaker 8: It's over. It's over. He's already said that he's not
[34:38] Speaker 8: into it.
[34:38] Speaker 1: What point are you trying to make?
[34:40] Speaker 8: I'm just saying, she's really liking falling. That's her love language.
[34:43] Speaker 11: That just adds another layer of weird to the whole thing.
[34:46] Speaker 1: Don't say that.
[34:49] Speaker 4: It got you two together for a little bit.
[34:50] Speaker 1: She's the one who listened to our show, Jeff.
[34:53] Speaker 8: Okay, let's bring a child in here and have them
[34:55] Speaker 8: fall over to get you back on my side.
[34:57] Speaker 3: I don't mind.
[34:57] Speaker 10: I'm not interested in him anymore anyway. So yeah, I
[35:00] Speaker 10: fell for you and I regret it.
[35:03] Speaker 5: I think the question.
[35:04] Speaker 8: That we really need to ask ourselves here is, How
[35:14] Speaker 8: many videos of children falling can you save in your
[35:18] Speaker 8: phone until it becomes a red flag? Is it 10 children,
[35:22] Speaker 8: 100 children, 1,000 children falling?
[35:25] Speaker 6: I think it's only a red flag if it's the
[35:27] Speaker 6: same child falling over and over.
[35:29] Speaker 1: Again and that child isn't yours.
[35:31] Speaker 8: That's the only red flag.
[35:32] Speaker 4: A child needs help.
[35:33] Speaker 1: And it's all that you have on your phone.
[35:35] Speaker 6: Right.
[35:35] Speaker 4: You don't have any selfies.
[35:37] Speaker 1: If it's different children, you're cool, man.
[35:39] Speaker 8: That's a good point. I mean, it sounds like most
[35:41] Speaker 8: people in this room were on Angie's side saying, it's funny.
[35:45] Speaker 8: It shouldn't really be that big of a deal. It
[35:47] Speaker 8: doesn't need to be a red flag.
[35:49] Speaker 6: Jose took the time to look up the account he
[35:51] Speaker 6: follows and over seven million.
[35:53] Speaker 1: People follow the account about.
[35:55] Speaker 4: Kids being hurt. Yeah, it is very popular.
[35:57] Speaker 8: That's true.
[35:58] Speaker 1: It was funny. I watched quite a few videos with Jose.
[36:00] Speaker 8: I agree. I think they're all really funny. But maybe
[36:03] Speaker 8: he had some sort of experience in his past where
[36:05] Speaker 8: he fell as a child, drove his power wheels into
[36:08] Speaker 8: like a koi pond. And that memory has stuck with
[36:11] Speaker 8: him forever.
[36:12] Speaker 1: Until the creepy clown cheered him up. Yes.
[36:14] Speaker 3: Which made sense.
[36:15] Speaker 4: He seems like a serious guy.
[36:16] Speaker 7: I know.
[36:17] Speaker 8: Thank God for Bozo and all of his weird clown antics.
[36:20] Speaker 5: Oh, man.
[36:20] Speaker 1: Makes sense that his buddy's name was Gary.
[36:22] Speaker 8: Yeah. That checks out. So it didn't work out for
[36:25] Speaker 8: the two of them. But it doesn't mean it can't
[36:27] Speaker 8: work out for you and whoever you meet in the world.
[36:29] Speaker 8: You can always email the show. We'll call that person
[36:32] Speaker 8: who's not calling you back. And go check out all
[36:34] Speaker 8: of our second dates. They're up online wherever you get
[36:36] Speaker 8: your podcasts at Brooke and Jeffrey.
