[0:35] Speaker 5: Mike Holmgren has made his return to the airwaves with
[0:39] Speaker 5: us after a week off on a river cruise somewhere
[0:41] Speaker 5: at least that's what he said he was doing who
[0:44] Speaker 5: knows what he was up to people flocking to mike
[0:46] Speaker 5: autograph seekers looking for photographs with the potential down the
[0:51] Speaker 5: road eventually will be hall of famer but mike we're
[0:54] Speaker 5: going to give you the floor here because we have
[0:55] Speaker 5: a very special guest joining us right now on the
[0:58] Speaker 5: radio show so why don't you introduce our next guest
[1:00] Speaker 5: and that's all.
[1:01] Speaker 6: Yours well when you when you said that Chris was
[1:04] Speaker 6: coming on the show. I was really on the river cruise,
[1:07] Speaker 6: and I was going to stay. And then I came
[1:09] Speaker 6: back so I could talk to him, you know. Chris, hi.
[1:14] Speaker 7: I thought once you heard I was going to be
[1:16] Speaker 7: on the show, you were going to stay.
[1:18] Speaker 6: No. No, I'll tell you what. And something we haven't
[1:22] Speaker 6: talked about. Actually, my first foyer into TV, Chris was
[1:28] Speaker 6: my coach. It was at a Super Bowl, and I
[1:30] Speaker 6: was one of the guys. I didn't know anything. and
[1:33] Speaker 6: he kind of coached me through that, so I've always
[1:36] Speaker 6: appreciated that. Thank you very much.
[1:40] Speaker 2: I didn't coach you into anything. You know better.
[1:45] Speaker 6: Well, listen, there's a lot of stuff going on here
[1:47] Speaker 6: in Seattle, and you know it. The Seahawks are 3-3,
[1:51] Speaker 6: and there's a lot of surprises in the league. You know,
[1:55] Speaker 6: the Rams, the records, there's a lot of surprises. How
[1:58] Speaker 6: do you view the Seahawks, where they are right now,
[2:01] Speaker 6: and People here are a little disappointed they're 3-3. How
[2:06] Speaker 6: do you look on that?
[2:08] Speaker 7: Yeah, I understand that. I mean, you're Super Bowl champs.
[2:12] Speaker 7: The expectations are high. No Kenneth Walker, and we've already
[2:16] Speaker 7: seen the impact that Kenneth Walker is having on the
[2:19] Speaker 7: team you're going to be playing, the Kansas City Chiefs.
[2:22] Speaker 7: But when you take the grand total of what they've
[2:25] Speaker 7: lost by a combined eight points.
[2:27] Speaker 2: In three games, something like that. So I.
[2:31] Speaker 7: Tend to look at football season anymore as like back
[2:35] Speaker 7: in the day, you played four, you played six preseason games.
[2:39] Speaker 7: And opening day, people were ready for battle. Now I
[2:42] Speaker 7: kind of think of preseason as whatever for rookies. And
[2:46] Speaker 7: then September is for the veterans. And then we're ready
[2:49] Speaker 7: to play in October.
[2:50] Speaker 2: So yeah.
[2:51] Speaker 7: I kind of start taking it seriously right about now,
[2:54] Speaker 7: but I do think that there are at least a
[2:57] Speaker 7: few questions about this Seattle team, and this is going
[3:02] Speaker 7: to be a great matchup.
[3:03] Speaker 2: It really is.
[3:04] Speaker 7: Kansas City is a really good team offensively, defensively. Quarterback
[3:10] Speaker 7: position can really play, and so it's going to be fun.
[3:14] Speaker 6: Well, you know, the big question is, and you know this,
[3:17] Speaker 6: having played with good quarterbacks and Sam Darnold, I think,
[3:24] Speaker 6: is a very good quarterback, but he's doing some things
[3:28] Speaker 6: now that have people worried. When you watch Sam play,
[3:33] Speaker 6: I'd like your opinion.
[3:34] Speaker 2: Of how he's doing.
[3:37] Speaker 7: Well, you know, I knew going into studying him that
[3:42] Speaker 7: He had turned.
[3:43] Speaker 2: It over, right? And you never want that out of
[3:46] Speaker 2: your quarterback.
[3:47] Speaker 7: I do think that they've got a few issues in protection.
[3:52] Speaker 7: They've spread it out a little bit more this year.
[3:56] Speaker 7: Bradford's obviously not been in the game. But as far
[4:01] Speaker 7: as just watching Sam... Donald throw the ball, I thought
[4:05] Speaker 7: he was slinging it in that game against Denver. And
[4:08] Speaker 7: of course, he came up with the two interceptions late
[4:11] Speaker 7: in the game, and that's all anybody's.
[4:13] Speaker 2: Going to remember.
[4:14] Speaker 7: But I don't think there's anything wrong with what he's doing,
[4:17] Speaker 7: but you just can't turn the ball over the number
[4:20] Speaker 7: of times that they've turned it over. And the three losses,
[4:23] Speaker 7: they've turned it over at least three times in every
[4:26] Speaker 7: one of those games. And, you know, you can make
[4:29] Speaker 7: football out to be anything you want it to be,
[4:31] Speaker 7: you know, and there are three wins they've turned it
[4:34] Speaker 7: over no more than once. And the three losses, they
[4:37] Speaker 7: turned it over at least three times in each of those.
[4:39] Speaker 7: So I've seen Sam Darnold given up on before. I
[4:45] Speaker 7: can remember in Minnesota when everybody was so down on
[4:50] Speaker 7: him for the last two games, the final and then
[4:52] Speaker 7: the first playoff game. And he really didn't play very
[4:55] Speaker 7: well and came back the next year, won the Super Bowl.
[4:57] Speaker 7: So You know what it is, especially with young quarterbacks
[5:02] Speaker 7: and developing teams and change offensive coordinators. Everything's just different.
[5:09] Speaker 7: But I know one thing. That team plays defense with
[5:13] Speaker 7: the heart of a lion. And what they did in
[5:16] Speaker 7: the second half against Denver, I mean, it was explosive.
[5:20] Speaker 7: I mean, if they play like that, that's the way
[5:22] Speaker 7: they were playing in the playoffs and the Super Bowl
[5:26] Speaker 7: and whatever. If they play more games like that, they're
[5:30] Speaker 7: going to be really tough to beat.
[5:31] Speaker 6: No, and we're talking with Chris Collingsworth. I know he's
[5:35] Speaker 6: got a very unique voice, so I know you didn't
[5:37] Speaker 6: have to have me tell you that because you recognize
[5:40] Speaker 6: his voice. But thank you for being with us today. JSN,
[5:46] Speaker 6: you played the position. I'm thinking if I'm coaching against JSN,
[5:53] Speaker 6: I go into my defensive coordinator and go, look, I
[5:56] Speaker 6: don't care– Who else you cover? Who else you stop?
[6:00] Speaker 6: You've got to stop him. He's an amazing young receiver,
[6:05] Speaker 6: isn't he?
[6:07] Speaker 2: He really is.
[6:08] Speaker 7: And I really have a hard time comparing him to
[6:12] Speaker 7: anybody because he's like, I don't know, the first time
[6:17] Speaker 7: you ever saw a sports car drive, you know, a
[6:20] Speaker 7: Porsche or Lamborghini or something, and watching it. you know,
[6:24] Speaker 7: just smoothly take the turns, and it looks so effortless.
[6:28] Speaker 7: And sometimes you can look at him because he's not
[6:31] Speaker 7: a big guy. He doesn't have any incredibly, you know, outstanding,
[6:35] Speaker 7: you know, feature where you go, oh, yeah, he's 6'4,
[6:38] Speaker 7: or he weighs 220 pounds, or he runs a 4'2,
[6:42] Speaker 7: or any of that sort of thing. And then I
[6:45] Speaker 7: started thinking about it a little bit, and I go, hmm,
[6:47] Speaker 7: who else was like that that really didn't have any
[6:50] Speaker 7: incredible features? Oh, yeah, Jerry Rice was kind of like that.
[6:54] Speaker 7: And just the ability to, I don't know, to look
[6:59] Speaker 7: the same and to look so smooth. And the way
[7:02] Speaker 7: he cuts off his inside foot. I could never cut
[7:06] Speaker 7: off my inside foot. I'd fall on my face every time.
[7:09] Speaker 7: But he can just kind of glide and take the
[7:12] Speaker 7: turns like a sports car. And I don't think that
[7:16] Speaker 7: defenders know what he's going to do. Most receivers have
[7:21] Speaker 7: some kind of tell in their route running. and that's
[7:25] Speaker 7: how you can get a jump on him. But it's
[7:28] Speaker 7: like he never changes speeds.
[7:30] Speaker 2: He never changes gears.
[7:32] Speaker 7: No matter if he's turning in or turning out or
[7:35] Speaker 7: going deep or a comeback or whatever it is, he
[7:38] Speaker 7: can just do it so smoothly. And I think if
[7:43] Speaker 7: you can be the leading receiver in the National Football
[7:46] Speaker 7: League a couple years in a row and still be underrated,
[7:49] Speaker 7: I kind of feel like he's still a little bit underrated.
[7:53] Speaker 2: You know what?
[7:53] Speaker 6: That's well said. He is so smooth, and he's not
[7:57] Speaker 6: a big guy. And he's taken some hits now, and
[8:00] Speaker 6: he bounces up. I think he's tough. So, no, we're
[8:04] Speaker 6: very lucky to have him in Seattle. Now I'm going
[8:07] Speaker 6: to put your general manager's hat on, okay?
[8:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[8:12] Speaker 6: Ken Walker. I know I can't let you go without
[8:16] Speaker 6: an opinion on if you were the general manager, would
[8:20] Speaker 6: you have signed him last year?
[8:24] Speaker 7: Well, I've got a little bit different theory than maybe some.
[8:32] Speaker 7: You know, there's– you think of like Jameer Gibbs. I
[8:38] Speaker 7: think that running backs.
[8:40] Speaker 2: In general are way underrated.
[8:43] Speaker 7: At this point in the NFL's cycle of life.
[8:48] Speaker 2: You know, like– So we.
[8:50] Speaker 7: Went from, I can remember when I first got in
[8:53] Speaker 7: the league, everybody was 6'4, and playing against zone defenses,
[8:58] Speaker 7: and you were throwing those kind of things. And then
[9:02] Speaker 7: Duper and Clayton came along because everybody started playing more
[9:05] Speaker 7: man coverage, and then those guys were eating up the
[9:07] Speaker 7: man coverage. And then it just kind of goes in
[9:10] Speaker 7: a big cycle. And right now we're in a cycle
[9:15] Speaker 7: where everybody's playing at least two deep, if not four deep,
[9:18] Speaker 7: on the back end. They're protecting against the big plays.
[9:22] Speaker 7: They've got six in the box instead of seven in
[9:24] Speaker 7: the box. And so now running the football is almost
[9:29] Speaker 7: given to you.
[9:30] Speaker 2: It's almost given to you.
[9:32] Speaker 7: So now so many of the big plays in the
[9:35] Speaker 7: NFL are coming from running backs.
[9:38] Speaker 2: You know, Jameer Gibbs, B. John Robinson, you go right
[9:41] Speaker 2: down the list.
[9:41] Speaker 7: I mean, these guys, if they break a tackle and
[9:44] Speaker 7: they get into the secondary, they're you're seeing these guys
[9:48] Speaker 7: go for really big runs. And Kenneth Walker, with this
[9:52] Speaker 7: outside zone, which is what everybody's doing at least 35%
[9:56] Speaker 7: to 40% of the time, is a play in which.
[10:00] Speaker 7: If you have power to cut back, which Kenneth Walker
[10:04] Speaker 7: certainly has, you can run over people because everybody's on
[10:07] Speaker 7: the move. But what his secret sauce is, that ability
[10:11] Speaker 7: to bounce out and hit the gears. And, Mike, I'm
[10:16] Speaker 7: telling you, we did the Super Bowl last year. Yeah.
[10:19] Speaker 7: We went to practice, and I'm watching him. And, you know,
[10:23] Speaker 7: he was kind of just another player to me at
[10:26] Speaker 7: that point in time. And I'm watching him in practice,
[10:30] Speaker 7: and this is that last practice, that last hard practice
[10:35] Speaker 7: before the Super Bowl.
[10:37] Speaker 2: And everybody's amped up. I mean, everybody.
[10:40] Speaker 7: And Kenneth Walker was running– two ticks faster than everybody
[10:46] Speaker 7: on the field. I'm talking about everybody, the corners, the
[10:48] Speaker 7: wide outs than everybody. And I was like, Oh my gosh,
[10:52] Speaker 7: I had no idea. This kid had this in him.
[10:56] Speaker 7: And I started, I walked over to the rest of
[10:59] Speaker 7: our crew who was at practice with me. And I said,
[11:02] Speaker 7: I think Kenneth Walker is going to be the MVP
[11:04] Speaker 7: of this game and Seattle is going to win.
[11:07] Speaker 2: And out of practice.
[11:10] Speaker 7: Now, I don't know if I've ever said anything close
[11:13] Speaker 7: to that, watching practice.
[11:15] Speaker 2: And I'll be darned, we got in the game.
[11:17] Speaker 7: And he looked exactly how he looked in practice. You know,
[11:20] Speaker 7: they always say you practice how you play and all that.
[11:25] Speaker 7: He was the exact same way. In that game, he
[11:28] Speaker 7: beat everybody to the edge. And when he got to
[11:30] Speaker 7: the edge, he was turning it upfield, and he was
[11:33] Speaker 7: making somebody miss. It was really exciting. to see somebody
[11:37] Speaker 7: who distinguished themselves in practice like that and then came
[11:42] Speaker 7: back and showed it in the game. And when I
[11:44] Speaker 7: talked to the Chiefs guys today, they were saying the
[11:49] Speaker 7: exact same thing. Because, Chris, this guy never takes a
[11:53] Speaker 7: second off in practice. He plays in practice exactly like
[11:59] Speaker 7: how he would do it if it were in a game.
[12:02] Speaker 7: And so the timing that we can create with our
[12:04] Speaker 7: running game and with the passing game with them is
[12:07] Speaker 7: second to none. So, yeah, I was pretty strong on
[12:12] Speaker 7: Kenneth Walker at the time.
[12:13] Speaker 2: So, yeah, probably.
[12:15] Speaker 7: And I think running backs are coming off a little
[12:19] Speaker 7: cheap right now because of the fact that we haven't
[12:22] Speaker 7: transitioned because of the way the defenses are playing into
[12:25] Speaker 7: that two deep. So I think that running backs.
[12:29] Speaker 2: Are– growing in importance in the league with the way
[12:31] Speaker 2: we're playing defense.
[12:33] Speaker 6: Yeah, we're talking to Chris Collingsworth now, and listening to
[12:38] Speaker 6: him talk about Kenneth Walker and his predictions, now you
[12:42] Speaker 6: see why he coached me up in that Super Bowl
[12:46] Speaker 6: that we were, I had the privilege of being with him. Now,
[12:51] Speaker 6: having said that about running backs and throughout the league,
[12:54] Speaker 6: the Seahawks are struggling right now, and The offensive line,
[13:01] Speaker 6: you've seen film. Is the offensive line, because they were
[13:05] Speaker 6: solid in that Super Bowl and at the end of
[13:08] Speaker 6: last season. They're struggling a little bit now. What's going on?
[13:12] Speaker 6: Do you have an idea?
[13:13] Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah, I think that they've got the right guard
[13:19] Speaker 7: positions obviously been a little bit of an issue. And
[13:24] Speaker 7: now I don't know if Anthony Bradford comes back this
[13:28] Speaker 7: week or not, but it sounds like he may be
[13:29] Speaker 7: getting close. And then they just are going to have
[13:33] Speaker 7: to be able to find some pop. out of that
[13:37] Speaker 7: running back position, somebody that can still take that outside
[13:41] Speaker 7: zone and get it around the edge. And, you know,
[13:45] Speaker 7: who knows who it's going to be. I mean, it
[13:47] Speaker 7: might be Bayless Jones had a couple of nice runs
[13:50] Speaker 7: in that game the other day and managed to get outside.
[13:54] Speaker 7: You know, it could be Rashid Shaheed that they lined
[13:58] Speaker 7: up in the backfield a couple of times and they'll handle.
[14:00] Speaker 2: The ball or reverses.
[14:02] Speaker 7: But they've got to find a way to stretch those
[14:04] Speaker 7: defenses the way that they did.
[14:06] Speaker 2: Last year with K-9.
[14:08] Speaker 7: And if they do, I think they're going to be
[14:12] Speaker 7: fine anyway. Honestly, this is a really good team with
[14:15] Speaker 7: an outstanding defense, a really good offensive line. So I'm
[14:20] Speaker 7: not worried about them.
[14:21] Speaker 2: I'm really not. You know what?
[14:24] Speaker 6: And I have to do this. Dave and Dick don't
[14:28] Speaker 6: want me to do this, but My daughter wanted me
[14:31] Speaker 6: to ask you a question, so.
[14:32] Speaker 2: I'm not going to ask you.
[14:34] Speaker 4: Okay, that's fine. Do it. Go for it.
[14:35] Speaker 6: No, they're big football fans, and the injuries seem to be,
[14:41] Speaker 6: you know, and I would agree. They don't play any
[14:46] Speaker 6: of the guys in the preseason, and then there just
[14:49] Speaker 6: seems to be a bigger, bigger, the Rams, injuries. How
[14:56] Speaker 6: do you look at that? Do you have any feelings
[14:58] Speaker 6: about the injury situation?
[15:01] Speaker 7: Mike, these guys are so big and so fast right now.
[15:05] Speaker 7: I'm not sure I could outrun the defensive linemen that
[15:08] Speaker 7: are playing out there right now. It's almost like you
[15:13] Speaker 7: need to expand the size of the field. They are
[15:16] Speaker 7: going so fast into each other. I watched some of
[15:19] Speaker 7: these new kickoffs that they have. And, you know, everybody
[15:23] Speaker 7: that's running down there now used to be defensive backs and,
[15:27] Speaker 7: you know, maybe linebackers. Now they've got huge people running
[15:31] Speaker 7: down there and big 220-pound running backs running it back
[15:35] Speaker 7: the other way.
[15:36] Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, my.
[15:37] Speaker 7: I mean, some of the collisions on those kickoffs are
[15:40] Speaker 7: downright frightening. So I think it's the way they train.
[15:45] Speaker 7: You know, I mean, somebody that would be 6'2, 200
[15:49] Speaker 7: pounds back in my day is probably 6'2, 220 pounds
[15:54] Speaker 7: of muscle in today's game. And the guys play their
[15:58] Speaker 7: guts out. I mean, the one thing you have to
[16:00] Speaker 7: say about watching them play, they're amazing. It's like they
[16:04] Speaker 7: have no fear. And they just play so hard. I
[16:10] Speaker 7: really admire the game. You know, I never like to
[16:13] Speaker 7: say that, you know, Their error was better than my.
[16:17] Speaker 2: Error or anything like that.
[16:18] Speaker 7: But I watch them, and sometimes I just shake my
[16:20] Speaker 7: head and go, oh, my gosh, I'm so glad I
[16:23] Speaker 7: don't play in this error. Because, one, I think I
[16:26] Speaker 7: would have about 150 fumbles if I played the way
[16:29] Speaker 7: they punch the ball out now. I mean, it's an
[16:32] Speaker 7: incredible brand of football right now.
[16:34] Speaker 2: It really is.
[16:35] Speaker 6: No, you know, I was on the competition committee for
[16:38] Speaker 6: a number of years, and I will tell you, I
[16:41] Speaker 6: would have voted no. on the new kickoff rules wow
[16:45] Speaker 6: i don't they're saying they're saying there's less they did
[16:50] Speaker 6: it for so to avoid collisions and there's i don't
[16:54] Speaker 6: see that at all i.
[16:58] Speaker 7: I don't you know what i'd rather have them do
[17:00] Speaker 7: i i would say we're going to give you the
[17:03] Speaker 7: ball on whatever yard line you want to and you
[17:06] Speaker 7: do the math for whatever the percentage of success you
[17:09] Speaker 7: want it to be but it's now fourth and 12,
[17:12] Speaker 7: let's say. If you want to go for it, run
[17:15] Speaker 7: your offense out there and go for it. If you
[17:18] Speaker 7: want to kick it, send the punter out and punt it.
[17:22] Speaker 7: But then it turns into a punt instead of a
[17:24] Speaker 7: kickoff if you're going to kick, but you can go
[17:27] Speaker 7: for it at any time. So you eliminate the onside kick,
[17:31] Speaker 7: bring your quarterback, bring your wide receivers out there, fourth
[17:34] Speaker 7: and 12. You want to play make it, take it,
[17:36] Speaker 7: go for it. If not, we're going to punt the
[17:38] Speaker 7: football and we're going to have two people running down
[17:40] Speaker 7: the field instead of 11 lunatics trying to kill each
[17:43] Speaker 7: other and try and keep these guys alive a little longer.
[17:47] Speaker 4: No, I love that.
[17:47] Speaker 5: Well, Chris Collinsworth is with us, and Chris, it's Softee
[17:50] Speaker 5: real quick. And just going back to what Mike was
[17:53] Speaker 5: asking about with Sam, and I asked Mike earlier kind
[17:55] Speaker 5: of what his rope would be like with Darnold. You know,
[17:58] Speaker 5: is there a point you would get to with these interceptions?
[18:01] Speaker 5: He's got seven the last four games. He's on pace
[18:03] Speaker 5: for 20. He's been sacked 13 times the last three games,
[18:07] Speaker 5: by the way. I mean, are you telling yourself that, hey,
[18:10] Speaker 5: this is my guy for the entire year, and there's
[18:13] Speaker 5: nothing he can do to get benched, or is there
[18:15] Speaker 5: a limit for you before you would consider giving the
[18:17] Speaker 5: ball back to Drew Locke?
[18:21] Speaker 7: Well, I mean, Drew Locke was really good, right? He's
[18:23] Speaker 7: still ranked as one of the top quarterbacks in the league,
[18:26] Speaker 7: so I think it would be It would be crazy
[18:28] Speaker 7: to totally dismiss that, but I think that you tied
[18:32] Speaker 7: together the two right things, and that is that he's
[18:36] Speaker 7: been getting hit a lot, and he's been under pressure
[18:39] Speaker 7: even when he hasn't been getting hit. And I just
[18:43] Speaker 7: don't think that works for almost any quarterback. There may
[18:46] Speaker 7: be five or six quarterbacks in the entire NFL that
[18:49] Speaker 7: can function when they're getting under pressure. So I don't
[18:53] Speaker 7: know what the solution is. It may be leaving more
[18:56] Speaker 7: people in the block. maybe running the football more, but
[19:00] Speaker 7: they've got to find a way to get him comfortable.
[19:03] Speaker 7: And whether it's bootlegs, max, max protection, whatever it is.
[19:08] Speaker 2: They've got it.
[19:09] Speaker 7: They've got to make him confident because he has taken
[19:12] Speaker 7: a lot of shots with free runners, you know, with
[19:17] Speaker 7: people that have had pretty clean paths to the quarterback. So,
[19:23] Speaker 7: anytime a quarterback has bad numbers, whether it's sacks, interceptions, fumbles,
[19:28] Speaker 7: whatever it is, I tend to go back to the
[19:31] Speaker 7: source of, okay, how are they doing running the football?
[19:35] Speaker 7: Not as well, right, as they were last year. How
[19:38] Speaker 7: are they doing with their pass protection? Not as well
[19:41] Speaker 7: as they were last year. So I'd like to see
[19:44] Speaker 7: them with those two things a little more solid, and
[19:48] Speaker 7: then I'll give you a final judgment and tell you
[19:50] Speaker 7: whether or not I'd make that move.
[19:52] Speaker 2: Got it.
[19:53] Speaker 4: Well, Chris, we appreciate you joining us again. This is Dick.
[19:55] Speaker 8: You know, the under-talked about part of this team is
[19:58] Speaker 8: the defense. I mean, almost all of the metrics say
[20:01] Speaker 8: that this Hawks D is even better than last year's
[20:03] Speaker 8: Hawks D.
[20:03] Speaker 4: Some, they're as good as any team.
[20:05] Speaker 8: Yards per play, they're as good as any team since
[20:07] Speaker 8: the 08 Steelers right now through the first six games.
[20:10] Speaker 4: But numbers can lie. So what you're.
[20:13] Speaker 8: Seeing on film, is that what the numbers are saying
[20:16] Speaker 8: or are the numbers lying a little bit?
[20:19] Speaker 7: No, I think this team is phenomenal on the defensive side.
[20:23] Speaker 7: I just, I really do. There's some really special players
[20:28] Speaker 7: over there. Demarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams, those two old
[20:32] Speaker 7: guys make me proud, man. I'm glad I'm an old
[20:35] Speaker 7: guy watching them play football over there. It's incredible. I mean,
[20:39] Speaker 7: the hustle and the effort they put forth. Ernest Jones,
[20:43] Speaker 7: a great you know, guy in the middle to lead
[20:46] Speaker 7: this team. Byron Murphy's on his way to being a star.
[20:50] Speaker 7: I mean, he really is. That guy's an amazing athlete inside.
[20:54] Speaker 7: Devin Witherspoon, I can watch play all day. I mean,
[20:57] Speaker 7: he plays like a lunatic out there. And, oh, by
[21:00] Speaker 7: the way, he may be the best cover guy in football.
[21:03] Speaker 7: And Nicky Emanwuri, when we were watching him in the
[21:05] Speaker 7: playoffs and getting.
[21:06] Speaker 2: Ready for the Super Bowl last year.
[21:08] Speaker 7: I just kept shaking my head. I'm like, how is
[21:10] Speaker 7: this guy human?
[21:12] Speaker 2: He's that big.
[21:13] Speaker 7: He looks like a linebacker out there playing DB, flying
[21:16] Speaker 7: around and just crushing people. Julian Lowe's playing well. I mean,
[21:20] Speaker 7: this is a first-class defensive football team that if they
[21:25] Speaker 7: really get it right, if they really get on their
[21:28] Speaker 7: game the way that they were in the second half
[21:30] Speaker 7: of that Denver game, I honestly believe that they're going
[21:33] Speaker 7: to become the force that they were at the end
[21:35] Speaker 7: of the year, too.
[21:37] Speaker 6: Well, Chris, I can't thank you enough for coming on.
[21:39] Speaker 6: It was really nice talking with you and You know what?
[21:42] Speaker 6: I watch you, and you just get better and better
[21:45] Speaker 6: and better every year. And so I wish I would
[21:49] Speaker 6: have stayed in TV.
[21:50] Speaker 4: You know? Really.
[21:53] Speaker 2: We got a spot for you, my man. Come on up.
[21:56] Speaker 6: No, but, hey, thank you for coming on. We really
[21:58] Speaker 6: appreciate it. And good luck the rest of this season, okay?
[22:02] Speaker 4: Thanks, Chris. Thank you.
[22:04] Speaker 2: Pleasure, guys. Thank you.
[22:06] Speaker 4: All right, good stuff, man. That was great.
[22:07] Speaker 7: See?
[22:08] Speaker 4: I mean, you don't need us. It's unbelievable.
[22:11] Speaker 5: I thought maybe you kind of needed us to babysit
[22:13] Speaker 5: you a little bit, but.
[22:15] Speaker 4: You really don't. You've really grown into this role. Yeah,
[22:18] Speaker 4: he's graduating. Why don't you try doing 3-7 one day
[22:20] Speaker 4: by yourself?
[22:21] Speaker 7: How's that sound?
[22:21] Speaker 4: That's a great idea.
[22:22] Speaker 5: Hey, listen, before you go, we've got some news here.
[22:26] Speaker 5: I think it's great. I think it's been a long
[22:28] Speaker 5: time coming that you deserve it. You've done it before,
[22:32] Speaker 5: but you're going to get quite an honor here. Monday
[22:34] Speaker 5: night game against the Chicago Bears.
[22:38] Speaker 4: Tell people what you're doing before the game.
[22:41] Speaker 6: Well, Seahawks, it was nice. They asked me if I'd
[22:45] Speaker 6: raise the 12-man flag.
[22:46] Speaker 2: All right.
[22:47] Speaker 6: You know, Monday night football.
[22:49] Speaker 4: I love it.
[22:50] Speaker 6: And now I just have to make sure I can
[22:52] Speaker 6: walk up the stairs to get up there high enough. But, no,
[22:56] Speaker 6: it is quite an honor. And I hope I can
[23:01] Speaker 6: do it with dry eyes.
[23:02] Speaker 5: Yeah, no, that's great, man. You deserve it. You deserve it, man,
[23:05] Speaker 5: no doubt. Do Dick and I get to go up there.
[23:07] Speaker 4: With you, by the way?
[23:08] Speaker 2: Sure.
[23:08] Speaker 4: That'd be fun, actually.
[23:10] Speaker 2: Why not?
[23:10] Speaker 4: That'd be really cool.
[23:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:11] Speaker 4: I mean, you know, what do you think of us
[23:13] Speaker 4: for once in your life? No, I know.
[23:15] Speaker 6: I'll ask, and we'll see if they'll let you.
[23:17] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:17] Speaker 4: Jackson, you want to come? You want to go walk
[23:19] Speaker 4: up there with Mike? The heck? Why not?
[23:21] Speaker 5: How about we do a contest? Invite the KJR listeners
[23:23] Speaker 5: to come up there as well. Well, that's a great honor.

[23:29] Speaker 5: 12-man flag for the Bears game.
[23:30] Speaker 2: Yes.
[23:31] Speaker 4: That is awesome. All right, you're the best. Great stuff.
[23:33] Speaker 4: Good to see you.
[23:34] Speaker 6: Thanks, guys.
[23:34] Speaker 4: Great job with Collinsworth, and we'll talk in a week,
