[0:23] Speaker 3: All right, we're back on a Friday night right here
[0:24] Speaker 3: on 93.3 KJR FM. It is our pleasure to welcome
[0:28] Speaker 3: a little live at five with our friend Hugh Millen
[0:31] Speaker 3: joining us on the radio program.
[0:33] Speaker 2: Hughie, how are you, man?
[0:34] Speaker 4: I'm doing great. What's happening, boys?
[0:36] Speaker 2: Jeez, we're good. We're good. Yeah, good, good. Yeah, Jackson,
[0:38] Speaker 2: we can bring that down a little bit there, big boy.
[0:40] Speaker 3: Uh, let's start off with some Seahawks conversation and let's
[0:44] Speaker 3: just give you the floor. There's a lot of thoughts,
[0:46] Speaker 3: a lot of tentacles to this talk about Kenny Walker.
[0:49] Speaker 3: I mean, you got one team that can't run the ball,
[0:52] Speaker 3: one team that's phenomenal at running the ball. And the
[0:54] Speaker 3: reason why the team that's phenomenal at running the ball
[0:56] Speaker 3: is good at it is because they have the other
[0:58] Speaker 3: team's guy and that's why they're bad. And now they're
[1:01] Speaker 3: meeting in week seven on Sunday night football. This is
[1:03] Speaker 3: an amazing story, incredible sidebar to this game on Sunday night.
[1:08] Speaker 3: What's your take on the way of the hole? Kenny Walker,
[1:10] Speaker 3: canine thing has transpired, man.
[1:12] Speaker 4: Well, I certainly think there's a long game vision of
[1:14] Speaker 4: this where a couple of years from now, even later
[1:17] Speaker 4: this year, Jadarian Price, maybe he's got the juice. Maybe
[1:21] Speaker 4: he can stay healthy. Maybe he can hang on to
[1:22] Speaker 4: the football. And, you know, certainly canine could be declining
[1:26] Speaker 4: at some point in a couple of years. So there
[1:28] Speaker 4: could be a date. where we say, hey, the Seahawks
[1:31] Speaker 4: made the right decision, but coming off of a Super
[1:34] Speaker 4: Bowl and certainly feeling like your defense is in a
[1:37] Speaker 4: Super Bowl window now, these decisions for the 2026 season
[1:43] Speaker 4: We're very vital. I mean, the inner softies coming out
[1:45] Speaker 4: of me, Dick, you know, like, like, like make decisions
[1:48] Speaker 4: for today. Now, you know, forget tomorrow.
[1:51] Speaker 1: Right. Right.
[1:52] Speaker 2: And, you know, so I learned by the way.
[1:55] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:55] Speaker 4: So look, I'm not, I'm not all in on your, but,
[1:59] Speaker 4: but we're like a Venn diagram and our circles are
[2:01] Speaker 4: getting closer, but, but, you know, from a cap standpoint,
[2:03] Speaker 4: the CRX at 12.7 million under the cap right now.
[2:07] Speaker 4: So they could have had Shahid and canine. I don't
[2:11] Speaker 4: understand how, People don't separate them. To me, they are linked.
[2:16] Speaker 4: And the cap value for Shaheed this year is basically
[2:21] Speaker 4: $ 7 million. Canine is $ 5. 8 million. Next year, Shaheed is
[2:24] Speaker 4: $ 16. 5 million. Canine is $ 18.
[2:25] Speaker 2: 7 million.
[2:27] Speaker 4: Then Shahid goes back ahead at $ 19. 5 million the following year,
[2:30] Speaker 4: and K-9, $ 18. 7 million. After three years, they're both at
[2:34] Speaker 4: $ 43 million and change on the cap. But the following year, 2029,
[2:39] Speaker 4: there's a voidable year. Seattle's going to absorb $ 8 million
[2:42] Speaker 4: right in. His contract's going to void. He's not going
[2:45] Speaker 4: to play for the Seahawks necessarily, and that $ 8 million
[2:48] Speaker 4: is going to accelerate into Seattle's cap. Seattle right now
[2:52] Speaker 4: at just $ 5. 1 million dead cap over all their players,
[2:56] Speaker 4: not one. Excuse me, not one player over a million,
[2:59] Speaker 4: only one player over 400,000. And they are the best
[3:04] Speaker 4: at the dead cap. But then they're going to have
[3:06] Speaker 4: one player in 8 million. Now, as a percentage, that's
[3:09] Speaker 4: going to dwindle. But my point in saying all of
[3:13] Speaker 4: this is I just look at the finances. I look
[3:15] Speaker 4: at the decision, the window. That was a lot to
[3:20] Speaker 4: expect of Jadarian Price. And he's a guy we had
[3:24] Speaker 4: concerns about his weight, his durability. The fumbling and right now,
[3:28] Speaker 4: if you had to just say the date right now,
[3:30] Speaker 4: it feels and looks like a big mistake. I mean,
[3:34] Speaker 4: for crying out loud, how about this? You're trying to
[3:37] Speaker 4: run the wide zone. This new stat, expected points added,
[3:42] Speaker 4: that has a high correlation to winning, by the way.
[3:44] Speaker 4: Google it if you're interested in it. B. John Robinson
[3:49] Speaker 4: is third in the NFL with 7.4. These aren't outside runs.
[3:53] Speaker 4: James Cook is second at 8.4. Kenneth Walker is first
[3:58] Speaker 4: at 22.1. Wow. And I could keep throwing these stats out.
[4:05] Speaker 4: I watched the tape. I watched what's included all 19
[4:09] Speaker 4: of his runs over 10 yards, including seven over 20 yards.
[4:13] Speaker 4: I was thinking, well, I'm going to look for an
[4:15] Speaker 4: angle to bring to KJR. No, there's no angle. It's left, right.
[4:19] Speaker 4: It's inside, outside. It's zone scheme, inside zone. Hell, his
[4:23] Speaker 4: success rate on inside zone, is 61%. It's gap scheme,
[4:28] Speaker 4: running power, what have you. And, you know, it's breaking tackles.
[4:32] Speaker 4: It's running away from people. It's a hell of a tape. And,
[4:36] Speaker 4: you know, that's why some of these numbers emerge.
[4:39] Speaker 5: Well, I don't think it's going to take much for
[4:41] Speaker 5: Charbonnet and Price to eclipse what we've gotten so far
[4:44] Speaker 5: from Wilson and Helani, but that's not our goal, right?
[4:47] Speaker 5: Our goal is to have the running game that we
[4:49] Speaker 5: had at the end of last season. And for that
[4:51] Speaker 5: to happen, Hugh, Charbonnet's got to look like he did
[4:54] Speaker 5: last year, pre-injury.
[4:56] Speaker 4: Price has got to get healthy.
[4:57] Speaker 5: He has to hang onto the ball and he's got
[4:59] Speaker 5: to be the guy that we thought he.
[5:00] Speaker 4: Was going to be in the first round.
[5:02] Speaker 5: I think that's slim pickings to expect all four of
[5:04] Speaker 5: those things to happen. So do you go and get
[5:07] Speaker 5: a guy to give you some insurance here at the
[5:11] Speaker 5: trade deadline? So you don't have to worry about all
[5:13] Speaker 5: four of those things happening.
[5:14] Speaker 4: Well, I don't go get Jonathan Taylor at 27 years old. Um,
[5:19] Speaker 4: why not? Well, I just think, I think that he's
[5:23] Speaker 4: shown some wear. I think he's declining. This year, Kenneth,
[5:28] Speaker 4: I hate always going to pro football focus because I
[5:31] Speaker 4: make my decisions just watching the tape. But they're one
[5:34] Speaker 4: outfit that does subjective grading, right? And they have certain
[5:38] Speaker 4: rubrics that they use to categories each play, whether they're
[5:43] Speaker 4: going to give it a. 5, a 1, a 1.5,
[5:44] Speaker 4: or a 2, and what have you. So right now,
[5:45] Speaker 4: K-9 at 90.8%. is the highest rated running back in
[5:53] Speaker 4: the NFL. Jonathan Taylor, uh, he, uh, he has a
[5:57] Speaker 4: 66 grade, which is 37th. Last year, K-9 had 91.4,
[6:02] Speaker 4: number one in the NFL halfback. Jonathan Taylor, his grade
[6:08] Speaker 4: was 78. He was the 19th. The year before, K-9
[6:11] Speaker 4: had 88.5. He was the seventh. Uh, Jonathan Taylor was 108.
[6:16] Speaker 4: And the year before that, uh, K-9, that was 2023,
[6:20] Speaker 4: K-9 ninth, Jonathan Taylor 39. You have to go back to,
[6:24] Speaker 4: you know, like 20, was it, I think 2020 or
[6:27] Speaker 4: 2021 when he led the league in rushing. I think
[6:31] Speaker 4: there's a lot of miles on that tire. And I just,
[6:35] Speaker 4: to my eye, I do not think Jonathan Taylor is a,
[6:39] Speaker 4: Hall of Famer, I wouldn't bet my life on it.
[6:41] Speaker 4: But if I had to bet one way or another,
[6:43] Speaker 4: I don't think he's in the Hall of Fame. I
[6:44] Speaker 4: think he's a declining player and I'm not giving up
[6:47] Speaker 4: a one.
[6:47] Speaker 1: Right.
[6:49] Speaker 4: You know, maybe a four or maybe a five. But
[6:53] Speaker 4: I'm not I'm not giving up a high draft choice there.
[6:55] Speaker 4: And I think he's substantially inferior to canine. in recent years.
[7:01] Speaker 2: What would you give up for him, honestly?
[7:03] Speaker 4: You know, I'd have to study the tape more. But,
[7:06] Speaker 4: you know, getting back to the current situation we are, K-9,
[7:12] Speaker 4: on the wide zone this year, when he actually takes
[7:15] Speaker 4: it outside where his key, which is, are you hooking
[7:18] Speaker 4: the end man on the line scrimmage? When his key
[7:21] Speaker 4: out of 38 wide zones, when his key says, take
[7:25] Speaker 4: it wide, He averages 6.9 yards per carry. But on
[7:30] Speaker 4: the others where they say, no, cut it back north
[7:33] Speaker 4: and get in the briar patch, that's 7.03. It's essentially
[7:37] Speaker 4: the same. When you call wide zone, whether he takes
[7:39] Speaker 4: it wide or whether he takes it back up, he's
[7:43] Speaker 4: giving you seven yards per attempt. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Wilson, when
[7:48] Speaker 4: you run wide zone for him, he gets 3.2 yards total.
[7:51] Speaker 4: But on the times the green light says take it outside,
[7:54] Speaker 4: he's only 2.1 yards per attempt. Think about that 6.9
[7:58] Speaker 4: versus 2.1 and Holani for what that's worth. He he's
[8:01] Speaker 4: taking it outside on, on wide zone, six times, six yards.
[8:06] Speaker 4: We can do that math 1.0. And so, you know,
[8:09] Speaker 4: that just, those are numbers that show you exactly what
[8:14] Speaker 4: your eyes tell you that, that you don't have the
[8:18] Speaker 4: dude for the scheme. And I would just say this,
[8:20] Speaker 4: Emmanuel Wilson, there's a scheme called duo and the football
[8:23] Speaker 4: coaches out there. They know what that, that is perfect.
[8:26] Speaker 4: that it's always a strong side play. It is down blocking.
[8:29] Speaker 4: It's like called power without the pulling guard. But, but
[8:32] Speaker 4: basically Dave Dick, if you're going, let's say dual, you're
[8:35] Speaker 4: going right in the gap between the garden, the center,
[8:39] Speaker 4: everybody on the right side is blocking down. You're getting
[8:41] Speaker 4: a duo. It depends on the fronts, but you're usually
[8:43] Speaker 4: going to get an over front. Let's say you get
[8:45] Speaker 4: an over front. You're getting double teams between the center
[8:48] Speaker 4: and guard and the garden to tackle. And then they,
[8:50] Speaker 4: they go up to the next level. That, that is
[8:52] Speaker 4: a downhill play. And that's what you got to do
[8:55] Speaker 4: with Emmanuel Wilson. I think his success on duo is 46%.
[9:06] Speaker 4: But his success on, well, I already told you the
[9:09] Speaker 4: number on a wide zone. So I think that that's
[9:13] Speaker 4: part of what you have to get from Brian Flory
[9:17] Speaker 4: on Sunday night. is, hey, get to the stuff. If
[9:21] Speaker 4: Wilson's going to be the guy running the rock, forget
[9:25] Speaker 4: what you want to be. You got to be what
[9:27] Speaker 4: you can be. And I think that they're better off
[9:31] Speaker 4: just trying to really just plunge the ball up there
[9:34] Speaker 4: in the middle with Emmanuel Wilson as the guy in
[9:36] Speaker 4: the back.
[9:37] Speaker 5: So Hugh, I know Softie and I were talking about
[9:39] Speaker 5: Jonathan Taylor, but when I asked you the question, I
[9:40] Speaker 5: didn't ask you if they should go get Jonathan Taylor.
[9:42] Speaker 5: I asked you if they should go get a running back,
[9:45] Speaker 5: a running back to support this group. Do you still
[9:48] Speaker 5: think that's a good plan over the next three weeks?
[9:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd have to be presented. Yes, I think right now,
[9:56] Speaker 4: and primarily given how good your defense is, And. and
[10:01] Speaker 4: Darnold needs some help. He needs help in a lot
[10:04] Speaker 4: of areas. They need a number two receiver. Actually, the
[10:08] Speaker 4: Bronco game is the first sign. If I was quarterback
[10:12] Speaker 4: coaching Sam Darnold, the first interception that he had against
[10:18] Speaker 4: the 49ers, was dual speed outs, and he threw it
[10:23] Speaker 4: over to JSN, forced it, where I'd say, hey, look,
[10:25] Speaker 4: you've got to speed out to the left where the
[10:27] Speaker 4: corner is way off. Had you thrown it to... To Shahid,
[10:33] Speaker 4: that's wide open. And then in the Bronco game, there's
[10:36] Speaker 4: a number of routes for the first time since he's
[10:39] Speaker 4: been a Seahawk where I could be there in a
[10:41] Speaker 4: meeting and saying, look, we have got multiple opportunities here.
[10:46] Speaker 4: So I think that we might be on the verge
[10:48] Speaker 4: of cracking something there with Shahid and getting something out
[10:51] Speaker 4: of this. So there's that point. But, Dick, the running back, yeah, yeah,
[10:57] Speaker 4: please give me running back help. I don't know what
[11:00] Speaker 4: you're going to have to give up. Uh, I'll think
[11:03] Speaker 4: more along the lines of softy in terms of, of
[11:05] Speaker 4: play for the now and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Uh,
[11:08] Speaker 4: we all know that and love him for it, but, but, um,
[11:11] Speaker 4: you know, I'd have to have the details of that,
[11:12] Speaker 4: but something's got to change.
[11:14] Speaker 2: Right.
[11:14] Speaker 3: Well, I mean, just think about, you know, like, but
[11:17] Speaker 3: the wide receivers, for example, I mean, the running game
[11:20] Speaker 3: is obviously a problem. You've all, you've also talked a lot, Hugh,
[11:23] Speaker 3: about not having a number two. And I'm glad that
[11:26] Speaker 3: you mentioned Shahid. I mean, I've been pissed off for
[11:29] Speaker 3: a month and a half, uh, that Rasheed Shaheed is
[11:31] Speaker 3: not getting the ball more. He had eight targets in
[11:33] Speaker 3: the Thursday night game, and he had three catches, including
[11:36] Speaker 3: the fumble. So I was glad to see them at
[11:38] Speaker 3: least try to get him involved. But Jackson Smith and
[11:41] Speaker 3: Jigba is No. 2 in the NFL with 65 targets.
[11:45] Speaker 3: Let's just consider two top wide receivers on each team.
[11:48] Speaker 3: That's 64 players. Our next best player as far as
[11:52] Speaker 3: targets is Shahid, and he's 79th in the NFL with
[11:57] Speaker 3: only 27. So when somebody asks you, Hugh, do they
[12:01] Speaker 3: have a legitimate number two behind Jackson Smith and Jigba,
[12:05] Speaker 3: I'm expecting you to say, hell no.
[12:08] Speaker 4: No, they don't. And the few times that they have
[12:12] Speaker 4: run wide receiver screens for him, I don't think he
[12:17] Speaker 4: has a great feel for the opening, which is odd
[12:19] Speaker 4: because he has a great feel for punt return windows
[12:22] Speaker 4: and to a lesser extent from an application standpoint, kickoff return.
[12:28] Speaker 4: So it's kind of Odd that we haven't got any
[12:32] Speaker 4: explosive plays that way. You know, put him in the backfield,
[12:34] Speaker 4: the fly sweeps. If you can manufacture that, I like that.
[12:38] Speaker 4: But I'll give you one more idea because this emerged
[12:41] Speaker 4: from the tape against the Broncos. So I think I
[12:44] Speaker 4: can paint this picture. So K-9 gets double covered, which
[12:48] Speaker 4: means they put a safety over the top on his side.
[12:50] Speaker 4: Let's say he's lined up to the left side. And
[12:53] Speaker 4: whether they play zone and jam him or whether they
[12:56] Speaker 4: play man, the point is there's a safety over the
[12:59] Speaker 4: top of JSN. Meanwhile, on the other side, teams may
[13:02] Speaker 4: not want to go play with a, what's called a
[13:05] Speaker 4: cover to safety and, and, and do the same thing
[13:07] Speaker 4: over to Shahid. So they may want to be in
[13:09] Speaker 4: what's called a quarters look, which is the corners off
[13:13] Speaker 4: and the safety's off, but the safety's in a, in
[13:15] Speaker 4: a better position to trigger on the run game in
[13:17] Speaker 4: this particular alignment, even though it's a too high structure, but,
[13:20] Speaker 4: but it's different on JSN. It's truly rolled on JSN.
[13:24] Speaker 4: And then that quarters look and, What you're seeing with Shahid,
[13:28] Speaker 4: he can sprint down the field, and this particularly showed
[13:30] Speaker 4: itself after he caught that go route against the Broncos.
[13:33] Speaker 4: He can sprint down the field right in between them.
[13:36] Speaker 4: And then they're both hauling ass out of there. Like, Whoa,
[13:39] Speaker 4: this is too much heat for us. Like, like this
[13:42] Speaker 4: cat can go. And, and then if he just does
[13:45] Speaker 4: a deep curl at 17, 18 yards, you just stab
[13:48] Speaker 4: it on. And that's an easy throw from a accuracy standpoint,
[13:51] Speaker 4: because it's static accuracy on a, on a button hook,
[13:54] Speaker 4: as opposed to dynamic accuracy, like on a crossing route
[13:57] Speaker 4: where you have to lead a guy running full speed
[13:59] Speaker 4: to your eye, you're basically throwing to a guy who's
[14:01] Speaker 4: standing there. And so it's, those opportunities were there plural.
[14:06] Speaker 4: And that's an example of what I would say if
[14:10] Speaker 4: I'm in that meeting with Darnold and we're formulating a
[14:13] Speaker 4: game plan like, hey, for the first time, we're seeing
[14:16] Speaker 4: some bone, some meat on that bone for receipt and
[14:20] Speaker 4: we're not chewing on that bone. Let's get that thing
[14:23] Speaker 4: and get everything we can out of it. So somehow
[14:26] Speaker 4: I feel like we're close to to Shahid becoming a No. 2,
[14:31] Speaker 4: but he was acquired November 24th of 2025, and he
[14:34] Speaker 4: has not been a No. 2.
[14:36] Speaker 5: So, Hugh, let's talk about the degradation of the offensive line.
[14:41] Speaker 5: How far have we dropped from Anthony Bradford, who's only
[14:44] Speaker 5: played 50 snaps this year, compared to Christian Haynes and
[14:48] Speaker 5: Bo Stevens? And then how far have the tackle play
[14:51] Speaker 5: dropped with Abe Lucas versus what we're used to seeing him?
[14:55] Speaker 4: Well, I'm never going to... be, uh, you know, all in, uh,
[15:01] Speaker 4: and plant any flags about Anthony Bradford is going to
[15:04] Speaker 4: be the key to turning things around.
[15:05] Speaker 1: Right.
[15:05] Speaker 4: Cause you, you, you know how I feel, but, um,
[15:09] Speaker 4: I think Bradford is a better choice among the three
[15:13] Speaker 4: for now. Uh, you know, his best, uh, attribute is that,
[15:18] Speaker 4: that when in a, in a tight space and he
[15:22] Speaker 4: doesn't have to go on to the second level, if
[15:23] Speaker 4: he's got a guy in front of him and he won't,
[15:25] Speaker 4: you want a mall, he can, he can really move
[15:27] Speaker 4: with some power. Now, if he has to, on a
[15:31] Speaker 4: zone blocking, get a linebacker, he ain't exactly twinkle toes
[15:34] Speaker 4: at the second level. He's going to get beat. There's
[15:37] Speaker 4: not athleticism. And there's not a hell of a lot
[15:42] Speaker 4: of finesse and skill in his pass blocking. But if
[15:45] Speaker 4: you want to get him in a phone booth, he
[15:47] Speaker 4: can maul you in the run game. So if that helps,
[15:50] Speaker 4: then great. As for the protection, this should be a
[15:54] Speaker 4: time where Abe Lucas is reaching his prime of his career. And,
[15:59] Speaker 4: and he's dropped off. I mean, there, there's a, there's
[16:02] Speaker 4: a play, you know, two, three jet is, is a
[16:05] Speaker 4: common West coast terminology of a basic, protection where the
[16:12] Speaker 4: center goes one way, the back goes another, it's a
[16:14] Speaker 4: six man protection. So as a quarterback, you go, I
[16:17] Speaker 4: got three, three block to my left, three block to
[16:19] Speaker 4: my right. I, all I got to worry about is
[16:21] Speaker 4: a fourth. And, and the other night you've got Abe Lucas.
[16:26] Speaker 4: Hey dude, you just got blocked the end. He starts
[16:28] Speaker 4: blocking the end. And then the linebacker comes from depth
[16:31] Speaker 4: from like five yards. This is like walkthrough level simplicity, right?
[16:36] Speaker 4: George Alani was coming over to get the linebacker coming
[16:39] Speaker 4: from depth. Why Abe Lucas dropped the end and felt
[16:44] Speaker 4: like he needed to block the linebacker. This was like
[16:49] Speaker 4: minicamp stuff. And it makes you wonder from– look, everybody's accountable.
[16:55] Speaker 4: And if Abe Lucas– if he had the missed assignment,
[16:59] Speaker 4: then that's on him. But, you know, there's enough of
[17:02] Speaker 4: these things where you start to say, hey, who is
[17:04] Speaker 4: coordinating the offense? Well, he's called the offensive coordinator. And
[17:08] Speaker 4: I think I think there's just like little chinks in
[17:10] Speaker 4: the armor that you see like that's that can't happen.
[17:13] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[17:14] Speaker 4: What I just described. That's a no bueno.
[17:16] Speaker 2: Let me do this.
[17:17] Speaker 3: Let me jump in because we will we'll continue next segment.
[17:21] Speaker 3: I mean, we've spent a lot of time talking about
[17:22] Speaker 3: kind of like what the Seahawks are, what they aren't.
[17:25] Speaker 2: What Kenny Walker is.
[17:26] Speaker 3: We've got to get into this matchup, right, on Sunday
[17:30] Speaker 3: night and.
[17:30] Speaker 2: Talk about what we think is going to happen.
[17:32] Speaker 3: And, you know, people tend to forget the Chiefs have
[17:34] Speaker 3: a pretty damn good defense as well on that side
[17:37] Speaker 3: of the ball.
[17:38] Speaker 2: So let's get into all that.
[17:39] Speaker 3: Also want to ask you, if we have time, would
[17:42] Speaker 3: you name a starting quarterback today? If you were Jed
[17:44] Speaker 3: Fish for Nebraska, or do you maybe wait and make
[17:47] Speaker 3: him prepare for both?
[17:48] Speaker 2: We'll get more with you next on 93.3 KJRFM.

[18:53] Speaker 3: All right, Hugh Millen rejoins us on the radio show. Hugh,
[18:56] Speaker 3: let's get into the matchup, man, on Sunday night.
[18:58] Speaker 2: No.
[18:59] Speaker 3: 1 total offense versus the No. 1 total defense in
[19:03] Speaker 3: the National Football League. What strikes you as important when
[19:07] Speaker 3: it comes to the matchup on Sunday night, man?
[19:09] Speaker 4: Well, I think important for Seattle, you just look at–
[19:13] Speaker 4: The Chiefs, their left tackle, Josh Simmons, went on IR.
[19:18] Speaker 4: Khalil Benson, he has been starting all year. That is
[19:22] Speaker 4: an undrafted free agent. He is 72nd out of 74
[19:28] Speaker 4: in terms of pass-blocking grade. He's allowed 12 pressures. On
[19:33] Speaker 4: the other side, Jalen Moore, their right tackle, he looks
[19:35] Speaker 4: to be out with a concussion. Joshua... Eze Ude, he
[19:43] Speaker 4: had three snaps at right tackle before last week. It's
[19:48] Speaker 4: his first start of the season. So those tackles, the
[19:52] Speaker 4: defensive ends for Seattle cannot be quiet. We have to
[19:56] Speaker 4: hear from Odoo, and we have to hear from Derek Hall.
[20:04] Speaker 4: and Demarcus Lawrence, right? And so all of those guys.
[20:09] Speaker 3: Two of those guys you just mentioned are questionable with injuries,
[20:11] Speaker 3: by the way.
[20:12] Speaker 4: I know, yeah, but whoever's at edge, whoever's got the matchup.
[20:16] Speaker 4: I mean, Nuoso had the strip sack against Justin Herbert
[20:20] Speaker 4: to end that game, but that was one of only
[20:23] Speaker 4: three sacks that Seattle edge players have. They have 16
[20:26] Speaker 4: to the Seahawks on the season. That's ninth in the league,
[20:29] Speaker 4: only three from the edge, so they cannot be quiet.
[20:32] Speaker 4: That's a big part of it.
[20:34] Speaker 5: What has happened to Derek Hall, if anything? Maybe he'll
[20:36] Speaker 5: tell me he's playing exactly how he did last year.
[20:40] Speaker 4: Well, I think he's playing pretty good. I think he's
[20:44] Speaker 4: creating havoc. It's not always just, okay, are you getting
[20:49] Speaker 4: the sacks? I think you're fine there, but he's got
[20:53] Speaker 4: to be more than fine. You've got to find some examples.
[20:56] Speaker 4: I mean, A couple thoughts, Dave, since you asked about
[21:00] Speaker 4: that side of the ball. Pat Mahomes, his average depth
[21:02] Speaker 4: of target, these are all out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks.
[21:06] Speaker 4: He's only 30th out of 33, right? His short percentage
[21:11] Speaker 4: is third. His tight window is only 7.6% of his
[21:17] Speaker 4: throws are into a tight window. That's 32nd out of 33. Now,
[21:22] Speaker 4: here's a big thing that's changed. A year ago, Under
[21:26] Speaker 4: center play action, you had Mahomes in 14 games at
[21:32] Speaker 4: 151 yards. This year in six games, he's got 368 yards.
[21:37] Speaker 4: And K-9, when he runs with Pat Mahomes under center,
[21:44] Speaker 4: 65 out of his 106 attempts, 7.1 average. Shotgun, it
[21:50] Speaker 4: drops down to 5.5. and pistol down to 3.2. So the,
[21:54] Speaker 4: the chiefs have found a way to marry what they
[21:57] Speaker 4: have in Kenneth Walker, get under center. My homes is
[22:00] Speaker 4: thriving and play action under center, obviously canines thriving. And, and, and,
[22:05] Speaker 4: you know, there, therein lies a big part of the challenge.
[22:08] Speaker 4: Now they don't have Rashid Shahi. Um, you can't let, uh, uh,
[22:12] Speaker 4: Travis Kelsey block you on the wide zone, that old man,
[22:17] Speaker 4: and somehow you've got to cover him. He's got some moxie,
[22:20] Speaker 4: but I think that other than Xavier Worthy and the
[22:23] Speaker 4: speed that you worry about, I think Seattle catches a
[22:26] Speaker 4: break here because I think that depleted the receiver core.
[22:29] Speaker 4: is something that Seattle Secondary should be able to take
[22:31] Speaker 4: advantage of.
[22:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt. Well, look, I mean, obviously this is
[22:34] Speaker 3: a pretty damn big one. Niners have Atlanta in Atlanta
[22:38] Speaker 3: on Sunday. I know Dick likes the Falcons to maybe,
[22:41] Speaker 3: just maybe, right, Dick? Get the upset against San Francisco,
[22:44] Speaker 3: but part of that recipe would be us beating the
[22:46] Speaker 3: freaking Chiefs on Sunday night. I threw this out there
[22:49] Speaker 3: this morning on social media, Hugh. Are you starting to
[22:52] Speaker 3: kind of lose hope that this team can win the
[22:55] Speaker 3: NFC West? Do you still feel there's a decent chance
[22:59] Speaker 3: of that? Or is that ship starting to either sail
[23:01] Speaker 3: or has sailed for you?
[23:03] Speaker 4: Well, I think the probability has notched down each week
[23:06] Speaker 4: that Seattle, you know, I mean, the math is the math, right?
[23:10] Speaker 4: But I do think this feels like a bigger game
[23:13] Speaker 4: than one game. It almost feels like the fork for
[23:15] Speaker 4: the 2026 Seahawks. get the win here, four and three.
[23:20] Speaker 4: San Francisco has been known to have the injuries.
[23:22] Speaker 2: They're older.
[23:23] Speaker 4: They could fall apart. Of course, you still get a
[23:25] Speaker 4: chance to play them. So I wouldn't say the NFC
[23:28] Speaker 4: West is lost, but it would seem real grim if
[23:33] Speaker 4: you can't win Sunday night. But I still have good
[23:36] Speaker 4: hope for this team. Obviously, the things they need to fix,
[23:39] Speaker 4: I love that they had the three days. Seattle go
[23:41] Speaker 4: back to a year ago. I'm not going to give
[23:43] Speaker 4: the examples due to time, but when they had... The break,
[23:47] Speaker 4: whether it's the mini buy-off off a Thursday game or
[23:49] Speaker 4: whether it's the full buy, Seattle tends to play really well,
[23:53] Speaker 4: and they really go to school on self-scouting, and they
[23:56] Speaker 4: come out and they give lockdown performances. Let's hope we
[23:59] Speaker 4: see that Sunday. Hugh, let's move to the dogs.
[24:02] Speaker 5: So we still have eight more days until they take
[24:04] Speaker 5: on Nebraska, but talk to me about the quarterback situation,
[24:07] Speaker 5: not only when you determine a starter, but who that
[24:11] Speaker 5: starter should be in your mind.
[24:13] Speaker 4: Well, I think it should be Elijah Brown. I think
[24:15] Speaker 4: he's done enough and not just his performance, but watching
[24:20] Speaker 4: how the team responded. And, uh, you know, the, the, um,
[24:24] Speaker 4: percentage of, of times the ball got out in under
[24:27] Speaker 4: two and a half seconds, uh, with the mind, it
[24:30] Speaker 4: was for exactly 40%. And with Elijah Brown, it's exactly 60%.
[24:34] Speaker 4: I mean, it's literally a 20, the math is so easy, 20%, um, faster.
[24:38] Speaker 6: Right.
[24:39] Speaker 4: Um, as for the timing of it, right. Uh, Here's
[24:43] Speaker 4: a thought, guys. I think that the sooner the better. Okay.
[24:48] Speaker 4: Because as you're practicing, Deadfish has a choice. He can
[24:54] Speaker 4: either split the reps, in which case you can continue
[24:59] Speaker 4: to try and provide that deception or that lack of
[25:03] Speaker 4: clarity for Nebraska, and there is a tactical advantage. But
[25:07] Speaker 4: in so doing, you're getting whoever's going to start, who
[25:11] Speaker 4: I would argue should be Brown, you're getting him less reps.
[25:15] Speaker 4: So as soon as they switch it and they say, hey,
[25:18] Speaker 4: Brown is getting 95% or 98% of the reps, all
[25:21] Speaker 4: the players know it. and then what happens is all
[25:26] Speaker 4: the players, somebody's going to leak it. Or one of
[25:28] Speaker 4: the players is going to tell his dad, and guess
[25:30] Speaker 4: what the dads do? The dads leak it. Right.
[25:33] Speaker 3: But that doesn't mean Jed has to disclose it, right?
[25:36] Speaker 3: He could give Elijah Brown 90% of the reps and
[25:40] Speaker 3: still wait to make an announcement until Friday before the
[25:43] Speaker 3: Nebraska game.
[25:44] Speaker 4: He could, but I wouldn't want him to, you know,
[25:47] Speaker 4: in an effort to stymie Nebraska, I wouldn't want him
[25:53] Speaker 4: to give fewer reps to Elijah Brown. Now a thought here, guys,
[25:59] Speaker 4: you throw on the tape, Elijah Brown went on into
[26:02] Speaker 4: that Iowa game when the Huskies were down 27 to nothing.
[26:06] Speaker 4: And then when you throw on the Purdue tape, like
[26:09] Speaker 4: my eyebrows went up like, Oh my God, these guys
[26:12] Speaker 4: are putrid on defense. And in, in a rare way,
[26:16] Speaker 4: it seemed like they had nine guys. They couldn't run
[26:19] Speaker 4: the ball. They, they couldn't communicate. They, They were terrible tackling,
[26:24] Speaker 4: terrible physicality, their angles. They were bad in every way.
[26:29] Speaker 4: Nebraska's a lot better on defense, so I won't be
[26:32] Speaker 4: surprised if there's a big-time come-to-earth performance by Elijah Brown. Now,
[26:40] Speaker 4: if there's not, and the Huskies' offense is cooking with gas,
[26:47] Speaker 4: that will impress me because I think Nebraska playing at
[26:50] Speaker 4: home still with a lot to play for with just
[26:53] Speaker 4: two losses, I think it's going to be a lot
[26:56] Speaker 4: more formidable than what I've seen on tape. So what
[26:58] Speaker 4: I'm saying, I'm not integrating Elijah Brown. I'm just saying,
[27:02] Speaker 4: for me, I'm withholding the judgment because of the Iowa
[27:05] Speaker 4: circumstances and because of the Purdue circumstances I just described.
[27:09] Speaker 3: You're talking about the 11th best defense in football. number
[27:12] Speaker 3: one on third down defense. I mean, this is not
[27:14] Speaker 3: even close to what you had in Purdue. This is
[27:16] Speaker 3: like going from the freshman to the varsity, for God's sakes,
[27:19] Speaker 3: when it comes to defense.
[27:20] Speaker 2: So total difference. All right. Enjoy the game Sunday night.
[27:23] Speaker 2: We'll talk Monday.
[27:23] Speaker 1: Thanks, man.
[27:24] Speaker 2: Hammer down.
[27:24] Speaker 1: Go on.
[27:24] Speaker 4: We got you tonight on Sunday night.
[27:26] Speaker 1: Sunday night. Yep. Let's do it.
[27:27] Speaker 2: I love it.
[27:27] Speaker 3: After the game, tune in to the postgame show. We're
[27:29] Speaker 3: going to break. A little fun with audio next on
