[0:20] Speaker 2: All right, we're back at Jimmy's. We're getting closer, under
[0:22] Speaker 2: an hour away from Seahawks Patriots. Kevin Harlan joins us
[0:25] Speaker 2: at 5 o'clock. He'll be on the call tonight for
[0:27] Speaker 2: Westwood 1 with Kurt Warner.
[0:30] Speaker 3: We got a lot more to get to.
[0:31] Speaker 2: The postgame show as well coming up tonight after the
[0:34] Speaker 2: game with Dick and Hugh. But today was also a
[0:36] Speaker 2: big day for the ownership group, the Kosla family. Vinod, Niru,
[0:41] Speaker 2: and Neil all announcing today their intentions with the football team.
[0:47] Speaker 2: They had about a 45-minute press conference. Dick over at
[0:49] Speaker 2: Lumen Field this afternoon announcing they're bringing back the white
[0:53] Speaker 2: throwback uniforms for 2011. It's been a whirlwind. I mean,
[0:56] Speaker 2: the process was incredibly fast. I think my dad talked
[0:59] Speaker 2: about that. Like, you know, I don't think we really knew.
[1:19] Speaker 4: NFL assets are incredibly, anything NFL, like it could be
[1:23] Speaker 4: a shirt, it doesn't matter what it is, but if
[1:25] Speaker 4: it has the NFL on it, there's a lot of
[1:27] Speaker 4: people who want it. And so I don't think we
[1:30] Speaker 4: really knew this or believed this was.
[1:32] Speaker 5: Going to happen.
[1:33] Speaker 4: Until late June, early July. And so from then to
[1:42] Speaker 4: be where we are today, it's just been like a whirlwind.
[1:45] Speaker 4: And I think I mentioned to somebody that we haven't
[1:49] Speaker 4: had a ton of contact in the process.
[1:53] Speaker 5: With management.
[1:54] Speaker 4: It's started to ramp up over the last couple weeks,
[1:56] Speaker 4: so even just getting a little bit more of that
[1:59] Speaker 4: and having the chance to talk to John and Mike
[2:02] Speaker 4: and Chuck and the rest of the executive team, we're
[2:07] Speaker 4: drinking out of.
[2:07] Speaker 5: The fire hose right now. That's what it's been like,
[2:09] Speaker 5: but it's special. I think, I.
[2:12] Speaker 4: Was just saying to the group of reporters over there,
[2:16] Speaker 4: It's brought out a different side of my dad.
[2:18] Speaker 5: In what way?
[2:22] Speaker 4: He's not the effusive, smiley guy. He's a hard-nosed immigrant.
[2:29] Speaker 4: It's not his nature to be this happy and proud
[2:33] Speaker 4: of what he's accomplished. But I think this was really
[2:36] Speaker 4: one of those moments where he looks at, I came
[2:38] Speaker 4: to this country with nothing and like we're able to
[2:41] Speaker 4: be a part of this, it's just special. And my
[2:44] Speaker 4: sisters are here, and my whole family, my sister came
[2:47] Speaker 4: from Amsterdam, just to make the game, and it's special
[2:51] Speaker 4: for us.
[2:52] Speaker 5: It's really an honor and it's a privilege.
[2:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Neil Koestler with us. The story is phenomenal.
[2:57] Speaker 2: We'll learn more about that, obviously, as the years go by,
[2:59] Speaker 2: but I think the number one question that fans want
[3:01] Speaker 2: to know, how involved will you guys be? Will you
[3:04] Speaker 2: let John be John and Mike be Mike? Will you
[3:07] Speaker 2: be offering opinions on free agents and draft choices and
[3:10] Speaker 2: trade for this guy and go cut that guy? How
[3:13] Speaker 2: involved will this ownership in your family be in day-to-day
[3:16] Speaker 2: decisions for this football team?
[3:18] Speaker 4: I think that You know, my dad talked about it
[3:20] Speaker 4: in the press conference. I think our philosophy is just
[3:23] Speaker 4: ask good questions, be there, be a part.
[3:27] Speaker 5: Of the dialogue.
[3:28] Speaker 4: But those guys have to make the decisions. I mean,
[3:31] Speaker 4: we don't know how to scout a safety.
[3:33] Speaker 5: Or, you know, an offensive lineman.
[3:36] Speaker 4: And so, you know, we're there as a resource to them.
[3:41] Speaker 5: We are very, very competitive. We want to win. The
[3:44] Speaker 5: best way to win is to let John.
[3:48] Speaker 4: put the team together and let mike get them ready
[3:50] Speaker 4: to play on sundays like those two guys have proven
[3:53] Speaker 4: they know what they can do i i don't you
[3:56] Speaker 4: know we we'd be really dumb if we thought we
[3:59] Speaker 4: had something to to really change you know with that
[4:03] Speaker 4: that this this formula works and we we want to
[4:07] Speaker 4: win really badly yeah yeah well.
[4:09] Speaker 2: You'll fit right in that neil i think there's a
[4:11] Speaker 2: Anytime something new happens, there's always a fear of the unknown, right?
[4:15] Speaker 2: A lot of us did not know who you were,
[4:16] Speaker 2: who your mom and dad were until this transaction. So
[4:20] Speaker 2: when something new happens, people always wonder, will they want
[4:23] Speaker 2: a new stadium? Will they move the team down the road?
[4:25] Speaker 2: There is a little bit of scarring from the Sonics
[4:28] Speaker 2: from 2008, obviously, address those fans out there that just wonder...
[4:33] Speaker 2: Will they want a new stadium? Will they be asking
[4:35] Speaker 2: the community for money? Will they eventually, God forbid, want
[4:39] Speaker 2: to move this team out of Seattle?
[4:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I think we've been very direct about
[4:44] Speaker 4: all those things.
[4:45] Speaker 5: Like, we're here.
[4:47] Speaker 4: We've invested in this team as a part of the
[4:52] Speaker 4: Seattle community. That's a big part of our decision. We
[4:56] Speaker 4: talked about this throughout the process a lot. It's like,
[4:59] Speaker 4: you're investing in a community... which community.
[5:02] Speaker 5: Do you want to be a part of?
[5:04] Speaker 4: And I'm not going to name names, but we wouldn't
[5:08] Speaker 4: have done this in every community. And a big part
[5:12] Speaker 4: of it is this is close to where we live,
[5:16] Speaker 4: and so it allows us to set up a second
[5:19] Speaker 4: kind of home base here in Seattle and be members
[5:22] Speaker 4: of this community. I'm 33, so hopefully I'll be here
[5:27] Speaker 4: 50 years from now. And, you know, everything else as
[5:34] Speaker 4: far as, you know, I was just talking to you
[5:37] Speaker 4: about how awesome this stadium is and this fan base
[5:39] Speaker 4: and this crowd.
[5:40] Speaker 5: You know, Lumen is incredible.
[5:44] Speaker 4: We are coming in with the mindset of, like, what
[5:48] Speaker 4: does management want to do and how do we, you know,
[5:51] Speaker 4: how do we help them go do that? We're not
[5:54] Speaker 4: looking at the stadium and saying, we need to go
[5:57] Speaker 4: do this or that, like, Obviously, it's just an incredible building,
[6:02] Speaker 4: and so we're excited to just be a part of
[6:07] Speaker 4: that going forward.
[6:08] Speaker 2: Neil, I think you said it right there, and it's
[6:11] Speaker 2: probably an obvious question because you mentioned you're 33. You're
[6:14] Speaker 2: the youngest of the three that we saw on the
[6:17] Speaker 2: table there, obviously. There's an assumption that some people have made,
[6:20] Speaker 2: and I'm one of them, I guess, that this will
[6:22] Speaker 2: eventually kind of be your thing. This will be your show.
[6:26] Speaker 2: Is that the way that the family and you are
[6:28] Speaker 2: kind of approaching this?
[6:30] Speaker 4: I think you heard us talk about our philosophy, which is, like,
[6:33] Speaker 4: we do things as a family.
[6:34] Speaker 5: We're very close.
[6:37] Speaker 4: So... The idea that it's ever going to just be
[6:40] Speaker 4: one of us, I think, is false. I'm very close
[6:43] Speaker 4: to my sister. My dad talked about we talk every day.
[6:46] Speaker 4: I talk to all my sisters pretty much every day, too,
[6:48] Speaker 4: and my mom. My mom and I talk the most.
[6:52] Speaker 4: And so this will be a family thing for us
[6:55] Speaker 4: for now and for a long time.
[6:58] Speaker 5: My nephew's here, and he's three months old. And so
[7:02] Speaker 5: he'll be a part of it, too.
[7:03] Speaker 4: I love it.
[7:03] Speaker 3: I love it.
[7:04] Speaker 2: Well, the last time you were here, to wrap it up,
[7:06] Speaker 2: was a playoff game, right?
[7:07] Speaker 3: In this stadium?
[7:08] Speaker 1: Yep.
[7:08] Speaker 3: Niners got destroyed.
[7:09] Speaker 2: Right.
[7:10] Speaker 3: Your then-beloved Niners.
[7:12] Speaker 2: Will there be any problems flipping the switch and rooting
[7:15] Speaker 2: for the Hawks against them the next time they play?
[7:17] Speaker 5: We were financial investors.
[7:21] Speaker 3: Not emotional.
[7:23] Speaker 5: We're all in on the Hawks, and.
[7:26] Speaker 4: We're going to be riding and dying with this team.
[7:30] Speaker 4: I love it.
[7:31] Speaker 2: Hey, great to meet you. Welcome to Seattle. We'll talk
[7:33] Speaker 2: to you on the road.
[7:33] Speaker 5: Thank you, Safdie.
[7:35] Speaker 2: All right, Neil Kosla from the Kosla family, who obviously
[7:39] Speaker 2: just bought the Seahawks, in case you didn't know. Somebody
[7:42] Speaker 2: driving around going, who the hell is that guy? He
[7:43] Speaker 2: is going to be one of the new owners of
[7:46] Speaker 2: your Seattle Seahawks, and I think down the road will
[7:48] Speaker 2: be pretty much the face of this entire thing. He
[7:51] Speaker 2: talked about being in the stands last year for the
[7:53] Speaker 2: Niner game.
[7:54] Speaker 3: You see the photo, by the way, Dick?
[7:55] Speaker 6: Yeah, of him as dad.
[7:57] Speaker 2: He looks pretty ticked off. Yeah, Nehru was there as well.
[8:00] Speaker 2: All three of them were there.
[8:01] Speaker 3: For that game. You see that right there, his dad
[8:04] Speaker 3: eating some pizza.
[8:04] Speaker 6: Dad's eating nachos or pizza or something.
[8:06] Speaker 3: Well, he's just hanging out in the stands like a
[8:08] Speaker 3: regular schmuck.
[8:08] Speaker 6: Is that him right there?
[8:10] Speaker 3: No, that's... No, right there. That's Vinod, and to his
[8:12] Speaker 3: left is.
[8:13] Speaker 6: Yeah, he looks really upset that he's getting his ass
[8:15] Speaker 6: kicked by the Seahawks.
[8:16] Speaker 3: He is really bummed out. But you kind of like that, right?
[8:18] Speaker 6: Yes.
[8:19] Speaker 3: That's how emotionally invested he is.
[8:22] Speaker 2: In this thing and that first game with the Niners
[8:24] Speaker 2: is going to be a little weird I'm sure for
[8:26] Speaker 2: him and his family but look like I said I
[8:28] Speaker 2: like what I heard from these guys so far right
[8:30] Speaker 2: now there really is not.
[8:31] Speaker 3: A lot to do we'll see what happens and we'll.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Judge them obviously by the moves that they make down
[8:36] Speaker 2: the road but it should not take away anything I
[8:39] Speaker 2: think from tonight's game.
[8:41] Speaker 6: I have a zero percent fear that this team is moving.
[8:45] Speaker 7: Zero. Now, I had a 0% fear before the sale,
[8:50] Speaker 7: but if there's a negative from basically what I've heard,
[8:54] Speaker 7: there's a negative percent chance they are going to be here,
[8:57] Speaker 7: they're going to be owners of these teams forever.
[8:58] Speaker 6: They mentioned they've owned their house for like 40 years.
[9:01] Speaker 7: I mean, they don't move around, and I think that
[9:05] Speaker 7: was a question you had to ask.
[9:07] Speaker 6: And then the 49er question is another question you had
[9:09] Speaker 6: to ask. And I've got.
[9:11] Speaker 7: Zero worries that a 49er fan bought the Seattle Seahawks.
[9:15] Speaker 7: If you were a Seahawks fan and you placed a
[9:17] Speaker 7: $ 9. 6 billion wager on the 49ers, you'd root for the 49ers.
[9:22] Speaker 7: I mean, he is massively invested in this football team.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Well, let's do this. We're going to break. We'll make
[9:28] Speaker 2: some predictions. Where will this thing go? Who's playing for
[9:31] Speaker 2: the championship? Who's going to win the AFC? The NFC,
[9:35] Speaker 2: what does this thing look like? And then Kevin Harlan
[9:37] Speaker 2: at five.
