[0:01] Speaker 1: JJ, kids are wearing baggy clothes. There's a new Double
[0:05] Speaker 1: O seven video game out in my New York Knicks
[0:09] Speaker 1: or in the NBA finals. The nineties are back, baby,
[0:12] Speaker 1: and we all know the nineties is the goat decade.
[0:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, great movies in the nineties, including the Mighty Ducks. Right,
[0:20] Speaker 2: you had D one that came out, the original Mighty Ducks,
[0:23] Speaker 2: which was a good movie. Solid, Right you had D two,
[0:27] Speaker 2: which was the better movie. Kind of like becoming a
[0:29] Speaker 2: Best ball bro where Season one pretty good season, but
[0:32] Speaker 2: then season two happens, and you know, I had a
[0:35] Speaker 2: great finish in the Millie. We had great results in
[0:37] Speaker 2: Best ball last year. Let's just hope that season three
[0:40] Speaker 2: doesn't go like D three. I'm JJ, and over the
[0:43] Speaker 2: last couple of years, I've been doing everything I can
[0:46] Speaker 2: to be a best ball bro. And last season things
[0:49] Speaker 2: finally fell into place. I got fortieth in the DraftKings
[0:52] Speaker 2: MILLI Contest, taking home twenty thousand dollars. Maybe I became
[0:56] Speaker 2: a best ball bro, but I'm still looking to learn
[0:58] Speaker 2: more about this game, and I still want others to
[1:01] Speaker 2: come on this ride with me. So even if you
[1:04] Speaker 2: consider me a best ball bro, this could be your year.
[1:07] Speaker 2: This could be the year that you officially become a
[1:10] Speaker 2: best ball bro. This episode is sponsored by DraftKings. We've
[1:29] Speaker 2: partnered up with DraftKings again this year for best Ball

[2:01] Speaker 2: one only on draftks. The crown is yours. Welcome into
[2:07] Speaker 2: another episode of becoming a Best ball Bro. I'm JJ Zachariason,
[2:12] Speaker 2: joined as always by Rich Ryan Rich. Great to see
[2:16] Speaker 2: your face. How's it going, buddy?
[2:17] Speaker 1: Likewise, Buddy, things are amazing. The World Series of Poker
[2:20] Speaker 1: started last week. As we said at the top, where
[2:22] Speaker 1: As I said at the top, the Knicks here in
[2:24] Speaker 1: the NBA Finals. I literally can't believe it. And it's
[2:27] Speaker 1: best Ball season. I could not ask for anything else.
[2:30] Speaker 2: It is funny every time we do, because this is
[2:32] Speaker 2: season three. For those of you who have not been
[2:34] Speaker 2: following the becoming a Best ball Bro journey, and hopefully
[2:37] Speaker 2: you heard from the intro that this is a little
[2:39] Speaker 2: bit different because I don't want to frame this show
[2:42] Speaker 2: as you know, I don't want to say I've officially
[2:45] Speaker 2: become a best ball Bro. I don't think that's happened,
[2:47] Speaker 2: per se. I don't think anyone really has officially become
[2:51] Speaker 2: a best ball Bro, just because you're always iterating, you're
[2:53] Speaker 2: always trying to get better. But it would be kind
[2:55] Speaker 2: of disingenuous for me to just say, like I'm still
[2:57] Speaker 2: going on this adventure of I've now Max and multiple
[3:01] Speaker 2: years now, and then last year I had good success
[3:04] Speaker 2: over on DraftKings, you know advanced. I think, what was
[3:06] Speaker 2: it like forty eight out of one hundred and fifty
[3:08] Speaker 2: MILLI lineups that I that I drafted and was able
[3:12] Speaker 2: to get fortieth in the MILLI in the final, and
[3:14] Speaker 2: so like it would just it seems a little weird
[3:16] Speaker 2: if I'm just just kind of framing this show the
[3:18] Speaker 2: same way. So instead, let's just keep doing this show
[3:21] Speaker 2: because number one, a lot of people were asking for it,
[3:23] Speaker 2: and a lot of people dig it. And I dig
[3:25] Speaker 2: it too because I like learning from some of the
[3:27] Speaker 2: best in the business that are doing and drafting, you know,
[3:31] Speaker 2: these these Best Ball teams. But like, let's see if
[3:33] Speaker 2: others that are listening wanna wanna, you know, take the
[3:37] Speaker 2: next step in in drafting a few more teams and
[3:40] Speaker 2: doing a little bit more. Maybe you've entered fifty MILLI
[3:43] Speaker 2: lineups in the past and you want to do one
[3:45] Speaker 2: hundred this year. Whatever the case may be. Uh, you know,
[3:48] Speaker 2: I'm just I'm just very excited to be behind the
[3:50] Speaker 2: mic for this specific show once again.
[3:52] Speaker 1: And Bestball itself is ever changing. The strategies with which
[3:56] Speaker 1: people deploy in that season are going to differ from
[3:59] Speaker 1: the year before because the NFL is changing. I think
[4:02] Speaker 1: that's one of the things we'll get into today. At
[4:04] Speaker 1: least I want to bring up with one of the
[4:06] Speaker 1: position groups. And I mean, just during this show. The
[4:10] Speaker 1: one thing that has been a revolutionary change for me
[4:13] Speaker 1: is the approach of fading zeros. That's been like a
[4:16] Speaker 1: big thing that I've had to learn, and it's like
[4:19] Speaker 1: the vegetables that I've had to eat where like in
[4:21] Speaker 1: the past, I'm like just hunting spike weeks and max
[4:26] Speaker 1: points at all times. But there's a little bit of
[4:30] Speaker 1: we don't have the ability like we do in season
[4:33] Speaker 1: long to make any transaction, so you better be fading
[4:36] Speaker 1: the guys who are going to give you absolutely nothing
[4:39] Speaker 1: throughout the season.
[4:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like I think that that last year
[4:42] Speaker 2: in particular, because again year one, I didn't have the
[4:45] Speaker 2: best season in the world, but last year had a
[4:47] Speaker 2: great season. And last year and having a good season,
[4:49] Speaker 2: you have a lot more teams in the playoffs that
[4:51] Speaker 2: you're tracking, you know, a lot more that you're you know,
[4:55] Speaker 2: cross referencing as you get into two weeks fifteen, sixteen,
[4:57] Speaker 2: and seventeen, and when i'm when you're going going through
[5:00] Speaker 2: in the playoffs, because we always talk about how in
[5:03] Speaker 2: best Ball, you know, it's like a quarter of the
[5:05] Speaker 2: season is really weeks one through fourteen, Like that's a
[5:08] Speaker 2: it's a giant part of the season, but that's serious,
[5:10] Speaker 2: it's just a quarter of the pie because then you
[5:12] Speaker 2: advance or you hope to advance, and then week fifteen happens,
[5:15] Speaker 2: you hope to advance sixteen and seventeen. But with that
[5:17] Speaker 2: being said, like, when you have those teams in the
[5:19] Speaker 2: playoffs and you're staring them at the face, you do
[5:22] Speaker 2: see firsthand very clearly how important it is to not
[5:25] Speaker 2: have dead assets on your team. Now injuries are gonna happen.
[5:28] Speaker 2: I get all of that, but there is a very
[5:30] Speaker 2: clear difference in the way that you should be drafting
[5:33] Speaker 2: that the players on your in your best ball lineups,
[5:36] Speaker 2: versus how you might approach things from a season long perspective.
[5:38] Speaker 2: It's just a completely different mindset. And of course there's
[5:41] Speaker 2: gonna be plenty of overlap. A guy that I generally
[5:44] Speaker 2: like in fantasy football this year, I'm probably gonna like
[5:45] Speaker 2: in both formats. But there are some players, you know,
[5:48] Speaker 2: maybe like an early down grinder at running back that
[5:52] Speaker 2: is a twelfth round pick that I'm not gonna care
[5:54] Speaker 2: about at all from a season long perspective because I
[5:57] Speaker 2: don't think the predictability is going to be there. I
[5:59] Speaker 2: don't think this ceiling is super super massive for that player.
[6:02] Speaker 2: You know, I'm thinking about like the Jordan Masons of
[6:04] Speaker 2: the world, the Chris rodriguez Is of the world. I
[6:06] Speaker 2: don't love them in season long, but I will draft
[6:09] Speaker 2: them much more frequently in Best Ball because the spiked
[6:12] Speaker 2: week appeal is certainly there. Now it's a little bit
[6:14] Speaker 2: more difficult on a platform like draftings, we're getting a
[6:16] Speaker 2: full point perception. But regardless, like the season long, you know,
[6:20] Speaker 2: the spike week appeal is still there because they can
[6:22] Speaker 2: follow the en zone a couple of times or break
[6:24] Speaker 2: off a decent chunk run and be able to score
[6:26] Speaker 2: some fantasy points for that week and you don't have
[6:28] Speaker 2: to predict it right, and your your games, you know
[6:30] Speaker 2: your team stacking, and maybe I drafted Trevor Lawrence and
[6:33] Speaker 2: I just want to get more Jags, or maybe I
[6:34] Speaker 2: got Kyler and Justin Jefferson and I want some more Vikings.
[6:37] Speaker 2: And so I do think that like we you and
[6:40] Speaker 2: I both have learned a lot from you know, I've
[6:42] Speaker 2: been interviewing folks you know on the show. We've talked
[6:45] Speaker 2: about it. Every episode is going to be formatted the
[6:47] Speaker 2: same this year, where Rich and I open up the
[6:50] Speaker 2: show to just have a conversation, talk about what's going
[6:52] Speaker 2: on and what we're seeing in drafts at the moment,
[6:54] Speaker 2: and then I'll interview some best ball, like true best
[6:57] Speaker 2: ball bro in the space, which today not doing that.
[7:00] Speaker 2: We're just kind of introing all of this. But next
[7:02] Speaker 2: week I'll kick it off with I think the same
[7:04] Speaker 2: person that I've kicked off every season of becoming basketball
[7:08] Speaker 2: brow with Pat Kurin, you know, who's had a lot
[7:10] Speaker 2: of success playing best ball. But you know, I'll talk
[7:12] Speaker 2: to Krain next week and we'll dig into things and
[7:15] Speaker 2: such and hopefully all of us kind of learn and
[7:17] Speaker 2: we are successful, and most importantly, we just enjoy the
[7:20] Speaker 2: heck out of it. It's a very fun time of
[7:23] Speaker 2: year to be, you know, into fantasy football, to be drafting,
[7:26] Speaker 2: to have the camaraderie to you know, agree and disagree.
[7:29] Speaker 2: I'll be doing live streams again very very soon on
[7:32] Speaker 2: the YouTube channel, you know where I'll be. I'll be
[7:35] Speaker 2: drafting teams. And I think that alone, for me is
[7:40] Speaker 2: kind of everything with what this is all about. You know,
[7:43] Speaker 2: it's like the having having people jumping in consistently on
[7:46] Speaker 2: the live streams and having conversations with them and you know,
[7:49] Speaker 2: we're talking like retro video games sometimes sometimes we're talking
[7:52] Speaker 2: about you know, whatever the case may be, but we're
[7:54] Speaker 2: talking ball along the way, and uh and it's fun.
[7:57] Speaker 2: And actually the coolest thing about that was last year
[8:00] Speaker 2: the team that I found a lot of success with
[8:03] Speaker 2: was live streamed like it is. It is literally on
[8:06] Speaker 2: YouTube and you can watch it if you want, but
[8:09] Speaker 2: you can see the logic. And there were some clicks
[8:11] Speaker 2: that I made where I'm like, like, I had Dereck
[8:13] Speaker 2: Henry in that lineup, but I think I was at
[8:15] Speaker 2: like six percent seven percent Derek Henry last year, and
[8:18] Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I guess I'll take Henry. I
[8:19] Speaker 2: need a little bit more exposure. Well, he was the
[8:21] Speaker 2: reason why I won twenty thousand dollars in that lineup,
[8:23] Speaker 2: you know, And so you can kind of see the
[8:25] Speaker 2: thought process behind it all, and I think that's what's
[8:27] Speaker 2: most important, you know, with this, with this whole thing.
[8:30] Speaker 1: Bestball is also great exercise for your fall drafts as well,
[8:35] Speaker 1: because you get to use those muscles, you get to
[8:37] Speaker 1: feel the board, you get to see how drafts are coming,
[8:39] Speaker 1: right like mock drafts when we get closer to it.
[8:42] Speaker 1: If you get into a mock draft lobby, it's going
[8:44] Speaker 1: to be complete chaos, right, Like people are just gonna
[8:47] Speaker 1: do random things because there's nothing at stake, there's no
[8:50] Speaker 1: skin in the game for them to take it seriously.
[8:52] Speaker 1: But yeah, through best ball, which is a sharper market anyway,
[8:55] Speaker 1: Like it is a really good way to exercise those
[8:58] Speaker 1: muscles and get an understanding of how drafts are gonna flow.
[9:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think back. I remember when I first started
[9:03] Speaker 2: as like a fantasy analyst. I would you know, like
[9:06] Speaker 2: twenty this is back you know, I started in like
[9:08] Speaker 2: twenty twelve, twenty eleven. This would have been back in
[9:10] Speaker 2: like twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen. I used to go to
[9:12] Speaker 2: ESPN and just drop a mock draft lobby link for
[9:16] Speaker 2: people to join me in a mock draft, right, And
[9:19] Speaker 2: I think back to that, I'm like, the landscape has
[9:21] Speaker 2: evolved so much. Like that was like the way that
[9:24] Speaker 2: we would practice having drafts that we would like experience,
[9:26] Speaker 2: and then we could share lineups and stuff like that.
[9:28] Speaker 2: And now it's really just best ball. It's best ball
[9:31] Speaker 2: because we're again we're putting money on the line skin
[9:34] Speaker 2: in the game. We know that other people are doing
[9:36] Speaker 2: the same, but fortunately there are still people out there
[9:39] Speaker 2: that are drafting that don't necessarily know exactly what's going on,
[9:43] Speaker 2: and that's helpful for us to increase our win rates.
[9:46] Speaker 2: So I like, this is a game where if you
[9:48] Speaker 2: put in some research and if you you know, see
[9:50] Speaker 2: what's going, like you really understand the landscape and how
[9:53] Speaker 2: to build lineups, like you can have an edge. This
[9:56] Speaker 2: is not a throw a dart and let's pray you know,
[9:59] Speaker 2: there's obviously going to be some of that involved with
[10:01] Speaker 2: like late round picks and stuff like that. But team
[10:04] Speaker 2: composition is is unbelievably important. You know, some of the
[10:07] Speaker 2: things that I go back to that lineup because that
[10:09] Speaker 2: is the lineup that you know, allowed me to have
[10:11] Speaker 2: success last the most success last year obviously in Best Ball.
[10:15] Speaker 2: But like there was a play like I had DJ
[10:17] Speaker 2: Moore on that team. I didn't draft much Dj Moore
[10:20] Speaker 2: at all, but it was a game stack situation because
[10:22] Speaker 2: I drafted you know, Christian McCaffrey earlier in that draft,
[10:26] Speaker 2: and I wanted to bring back you know in that
[10:29] Speaker 2: and that's the main reason why I had DJ Moore
[10:31] Speaker 2: and then DJ Moore was helpful in advancing et cetera. Right,
[10:35] Speaker 2: I think that that understanding that team composition side of things,
[10:38] Speaker 2: still there's still a pretty big edge to be had
[10:41] Speaker 2: based on some of the experiences that I've had.
[10:43] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, my welcome back to Best Ball this summer
[10:46] Speaker 1: was having Tedoro McMillan and Jalen Coker and someone taking
[10:49] Speaker 1: a naked uh right, So yeah, we.
[10:53] Speaker 2: Are, we are. We will be tilting as well all
[10:55] Speaker 2: summer long, all summer long. But yeah, I mean, like
[10:58] Speaker 2: the the landscape oneings. I wanted to get to this
[11:01] Speaker 2: on today's show because I think at a high level
[11:05] Speaker 2: now i've been drafting. I think I've drafted like probably
[11:08] Speaker 2: ninety five to one hundred teams at this point, not
[11:11] Speaker 2: all in the millie. I think I've done fifteen million teams,
[11:13] Speaker 2: so I'm still not close to them, to the one
[11:15] Speaker 2: fifty there, but I drafted some some pre NFL draft teams,
[11:19] Speaker 2: and then I've been drafting, you know, ever since, did
[11:22] Speaker 2: a lot of slows. At one point, I think I
[11:24] Speaker 2: was in like fifty five slows at once, which was
[11:27] Speaker 2: you know, I I timed it right because I'm going
[11:29] Speaker 2: on a trip this week and I don't want to
[11:30] Speaker 2: have to worry about drafts, and they're all ending right now,
[11:33] Speaker 2: which is great, so I don't really have to worry
[11:34] Speaker 2: about keeping up with the slows, those slow drafts, because
[11:38] Speaker 2: it can be daunting whenever you're in you know, more
[11:39] Speaker 2: than fifty But and then there's people out there shout
[11:42] Speaker 2: out Davis Mattock, who will be on late round perspectives
[11:44] Speaker 2: this week. But Davis Mattock, who's in like three hundred
[11:47] Speaker 2: slows at a time like this, is the way that
[11:49] Speaker 2: that his his brain has been. He's trying to draft
[11:51] Speaker 2: more teams than anyone else in the world this year.
[11:54] Speaker 2: That's his goal. But you know, I'm looking at the
[11:56] Speaker 2: landscape right now over on DK I can't help but
[12:01] Speaker 2: notice and think that I think what we're seeing this
[12:04] Speaker 2: year is not that dissimilar from last year, where you know,
[12:08] Speaker 2: I do think that there's a little bit more of
[12:10] Speaker 2: a running back, there's a little bit more running back
[12:12] Speaker 2: love in general. But I think you and I both
[12:15] Speaker 2: and especially talking to people, last year, we pivoted more
[12:19] Speaker 2: off of the zero are the consistent zero RB builds
[12:23] Speaker 2: from two years ago had a lot more RB RB
[12:26] Speaker 2: type type starts, or like heavier running back starts. I
[12:29] Speaker 2: think we're looking at the same thing. Maybe some more
[12:31] Speaker 2: of those running backs are being pushed up a little
[12:33] Speaker 2: bit further, but it all makes sense intuitively in my opinion,
[12:37] Speaker 2: just based on what we know about season long and
[12:39] Speaker 2: how that would probably translate to best ball and similar
[12:43] Speaker 2: to last year, you have that like round four to
[12:45] Speaker 2: five pocket at wide receiver where you just have breakout potential,
[12:49] Speaker 2: breakout potential, breakout potential, Like just so many players that
[12:52] Speaker 2: I think are massive values, whether you're talking about Luther
[12:55] Speaker 2: or massive their values, but there they have massive upside,
[12:59] Speaker 2: you know, a Luther Burden type, a Lad McConkey type.
[13:03] Speaker 2: I really like both of them a lot this year.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Terry McLaurin, I've talked about liking, you know, a decent bit.
[13:09] Speaker 2: I think Jalen Waddles in a good spot. I think
[13:11] Speaker 2: Roma Dunza is a good value in round five. Despite
[13:14] Speaker 2: liking both Colson Lovelan and Luther Burden, Everyone's like, you
[13:17] Speaker 2: got to choose one of them, And I'm like, well,
[13:18] Speaker 2: if you're making multiple line and drafting multiple lineups, get
[13:21] Speaker 2: exposure to all of them. Because we think very highly
[13:23] Speaker 2: of Ben Johnson and what this offense could do. So
[13:26] Speaker 2: I think that that round four to five wide receiver
[13:29] Speaker 2: range maybe starts early or you know, early four or
[13:32] Speaker 2: late three around that range. It was nice whenever DeVante
[13:35] Speaker 2: Smith was going in the early fourth. That's not happening anymore.
[13:38] Speaker 2: That's a really nice prime spot for these wide receivers,
[13:40] Speaker 2: which makes it easier to go running back running back
[13:43] Speaker 2: as like sort of the meta, right, and then what
[13:46] Speaker 2: I am seeing now Last year, I feel like when
[13:49] Speaker 2: we were drafting these teams, we were noticing in real
[13:53] Speaker 2: time the quarterbacks being drafted earlier and earlier, right, And
[13:57] Speaker 2: I'm talking about like the mid to low NQB twos
[14:01] Speaker 2: and maybe even the low ENQB ones to some degree,
[14:03] Speaker 2: but the low end QB ones were generally in that
[14:06] Speaker 2: like late single digit round range for most of the year.
[14:09] Speaker 2: It was really we started seeing like the Bryce Young's,
[14:13] Speaker 2: like the the random you know, low ENQB two types
[14:16] Speaker 2: in the QB three range being drafted a lot earlier
[14:19] Speaker 2: and early and earlier, and a lot of that was
[14:21] Speaker 2: the scarcity issue of them like drying up and then
[14:24] Speaker 2: you being afraid, oh if the meta is a three
[14:26] Speaker 2: quarterback build now, which is generally especially in draftings where
[14:29] Speaker 2: you get twenty rounds, you know, other platforms you don't.
[14:32] Speaker 2: When you get those extra rounds, it makes it a
[14:33] Speaker 2: lot easier to just have three quarterbacks. You know, on
[14:36] Speaker 2: your roster. That's more outs for stacking, it's more outs
[14:39] Speaker 2: for injury. You know, it's more outs just for that
[14:42] Speaker 2: general upside. And so if more teams are drafting three quarterbacks,
[14:45] Speaker 2: that means the position just drying up faster because there
[14:48] Speaker 2: are not thirty six starters in the NFL. There's thirty
[14:51] Speaker 2: two and we don't even know who some of the
[14:52] Speaker 2: starters are right now, right, and so, and we probably
[14:54] Speaker 2: won't until like mid August for some of these teams,
[14:58] Speaker 2: Like I don't I don't know what, Like when do
[15:00] Speaker 2: you think we're going to learn who Cleveland's starter is
[15:02] Speaker 2: going to be? You know, like realistically, like it could be,
[15:06] Speaker 2: it could it could realistically be mid August when we
[15:10] Speaker 2: learn who the actual starter of that team is.
[15:13] Speaker 1: And similar to Arizona, even when we're armed with that information,
[15:19] Speaker 1: when will there be a switch?
[15:20] Speaker 2: Right?
[15:21] Speaker 1: Like if they go to Shaun Watson and the Browns
[15:24] Speaker 1: predictably stink, when do they take another look at Shadoor
[15:28] Speaker 1: Sanders the Cardinals? When do they pull the ripcord and
[15:32] Speaker 1: go Carson back?
[15:33] Speaker 2: So, yeah, what's what's the what's the Michael Pennock's timeline
[15:36] Speaker 2: look like, you know truly you know, So there's there's
[15:39] Speaker 2: there's plenty of these quarterback situations that are up in
[15:42] Speaker 2: the air, which you know, you might feel comfortable in
[15:45] Speaker 2: may being like, yeah, I'll just get to in round
[15:48] Speaker 2: eight seventeen or something like that, or Michael Pennox in
[15:50] Speaker 2: round eighteen, whatever the case may be. But there's a
[15:53] Speaker 2: real risk of those guys just not doing anything just
[15:55] Speaker 2: because we don't know when those guys are gonna be playing.
[15:58] Speaker 2: And so what I've seen happening, and it's kind of
[16:01] Speaker 2: a continuation of last year, is that's pushing up the CJ.
[16:05] Speaker 2: Strouds of the world. The you know, cam Ward's, the
[16:08] Speaker 2: Bryce Youngs, and I don't mind some of those guys,
[16:09] Speaker 2: like cam Ward's one of my highest rostered players right now,
[16:13] Speaker 2: you know, just in general, because I think the upside's
[16:14] Speaker 2: really interesting. But like it's pushing those guys up, and
[16:18] Speaker 2: what that does from a value perspective at quarterback, it
[16:21] Speaker 2: makes the round six to round eight quarterback range much
[16:25] Speaker 2: more appealing because the opportunity cost isn't as significant when
[16:30] Speaker 2: you are then going to have to spend a lot
[16:33] Speaker 2: on those lower tier guys where the opportunity costs would
[16:35] Speaker 2: be increasing, right, And so when you get that sort
[16:39] Speaker 2: of like truncated range of where quarterbacks are going, it
[16:43] Speaker 2: makes the higher end quarterbacks a little bit more. I'm
[16:45] Speaker 2: not necessarily talking about Josh Allen here just because he
[16:47] Speaker 2: kind of goes in his own tier. It's a different
[16:49] Speaker 2: opportunity cost equation in total. But once you get into
[16:52] Speaker 2: round five, when Lamar starts going, and then you know,
[16:55] Speaker 2: the the Klebs status and the bear Stacks start going,
[16:58] Speaker 2: and Drake May gets drafted and Jade Annuals and then
[17:00] Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts in round seven, when all of that starts
[17:03] Speaker 2: going on, you say to yourself, huh, you know I
[17:06] Speaker 2: could get like today. I did a Milli draft and
[17:08] Speaker 2: I drafted Caleb Williams in round six to stack with
[17:10] Speaker 2: Luther Burden and Romadoon Day, and then I got Jalen
[17:14] Speaker 2: Hurts because I stacked him with Devonte Smith and the
[17:17] Speaker 2: finished team. I haven't done the discord. It didn't look
[17:19] Speaker 2: bad at all, right, because.
[17:21] Speaker 1: It's fine, that's right, fine, I'm I'm finding myself's go
[17:24] Speaker 1: quarterback quarterback back to back and being one hundred percent
[17:27] Speaker 1: comfortable with it right right.
[17:28] Speaker 2: And it's it's wild because you know, early best ball
[17:32] Speaker 2: days at least, you know, definitely the last two years
[17:34] Speaker 2: we've seen the evolution. But even before that, before we
[17:36] Speaker 2: started doing the show, that was just not a common
[17:38] Speaker 2: thing to have happened, like you would you wouldn't be
[17:41] Speaker 2: double tapping quarterback in that way. But I think it's
[17:43] Speaker 2: more applicable right now and easier to swallow because the
[17:49] Speaker 2: other quarterbacks are going like three rounds later that are
[17:52] Speaker 2: significantly worse from a projection standpoint, and once you're in
[17:55] Speaker 2: that round six range, there's a pretty clear drop in
[17:59] Speaker 2: a lot of the upside cases at wide receiver, especially,
[18:03] Speaker 2: you know, running back, especially once you get past like
[18:05] Speaker 2: the really sexy Year two running backs that were you know,
[18:09] Speaker 2: interested in, but it could go south, but there's still
[18:11] Speaker 2: that upside case for them, you know, once you get
[18:13] Speaker 2: into like where remandres going and stuff and whatnot, you're like, yeah,
[18:17] Speaker 2: I mean he's fine, Like I'm drafting him. But it's
[18:20] Speaker 2: it's a lot more appealing to just get the quarterback
[18:23] Speaker 2: a Jalen Hurts type where we know the upside's pretty
[18:25] Speaker 2: crazy because he's shown that upside and then not having
[18:28] Speaker 2: to worry about that three rounds later, where there's still
[18:31] Speaker 2: not horrific running back and wide receiver options. So that's
[18:34] Speaker 2: been something that's very very real. I think in this
[18:37] Speaker 2: year's landscape at quarterback is what it's really a continuation
[18:41] Speaker 2: from last year where we're gonna have to be reaching.
[18:44] Speaker 2: We're gonna feel like we're reaching a quarterback. But I
[18:46] Speaker 2: don't think it's really reaching as much as you think,
[18:48] Speaker 2: because as much as you would think, because those other
[18:52] Speaker 2: quarterbacks are also going earlier. It's not like you're reaching
[18:55] Speaker 2: for Caleb Williams, but then you can get Bryce Young
[18:57] Speaker 2: and round eighteen, that would be totally different, right, Getting
[19:00] Speaker 2: Bryce Young not that like realistically, given their upside cases
[19:04] Speaker 2: and their floorcases, You're getting him not that much after
[19:08] Speaker 2: where some of these really good quarterbacks go. So I'm
[19:11] Speaker 2: I'm very firmly you know, in Beastball, I always say that,
[19:15] Speaker 2: like my quarterback exposure is generally just tied to the
[19:18] Speaker 2: pass catchers that I'm getting anyway, It's not like I'm
[19:20] Speaker 2: you know, singling out certain guys. I think that the
[19:22] Speaker 2: one exception this year is probably like Malik Willis, because
[19:25] Speaker 2: there are no pass catchers that you're really feeling great about,
[19:27] Speaker 2: you know, before you would draft Willis other than like
[19:29] Speaker 2: maybe Devin h Chan. But yeah, that's kind of the
[19:32] Speaker 2: the overall vibe though, at quarterback is that don't be
[19:35] Speaker 2: afraid to just get them when you need to get
[19:37] Speaker 2: them or else, like you said, you know you'll you'll
[19:39] Speaker 2: have that double stack and someone will take them from it.
[19:41] Speaker 1: Quarterback is generally an exercise with stack fulfillment. Right, You've
[19:45] Speaker 1: set up these pieces, and a lot of times the
[19:48] Speaker 1: final piece or at least like the secondary piece is
[19:50] Speaker 1: going to be slotting in that quarterback in so it
[19:53] Speaker 1: makes sense that when people are drafting receivers that they like,
[19:56] Speaker 1: they then want to connect it with that quarterback, which
[19:59] Speaker 1: is then in inflating quarterback of inflating quote unquote quarterback
[20:03] Speaker 1: a little bit. And what's challenging is is if you
[20:05] Speaker 1: do are waiting on quarterback and you don't have pieces
[20:09] Speaker 1: in that offense already, there's a lot there's it's very
[20:12] Speaker 1: challenging to find a break glass in case of emergency stack.
[20:15] Speaker 1: Once you start nearing like the eighth ninth round, like
[20:19] Speaker 1: there's not like the only the only one that kind
[20:22] Speaker 1: of makes sense, And I think I'm gonna have a
[20:23] Speaker 1: discussing amount because I'm a biased loser. Is some sort
[20:28] Speaker 1: of geno Cooper cidik action because that's kind of an
[20:31] Speaker 1: easy break glass, grab them all late and stick them together.
[20:35] Speaker 1: But outside of the Jets, it's it's challenging to like
[20:38] Speaker 1: pivot in the middle of the draft and build the
[20:41] Speaker 1: plane while you're flying it.
[20:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like even a team like the Steelers, Right,
[20:47] Speaker 2: you can maybe make the argument of like a like
[20:49] Speaker 2: I've done, like the Rogers, Pat Fryarmuth sometimes Jeremy Bernard
[20:53] Speaker 2: kind of look more so Pat Fryarmuth in that case,
[20:56] Speaker 2: but like, yeah, it's still not even like a very
[20:59] Speaker 2: appealing situation. It's not like a very obvious stack that
[21:02] Speaker 2: you can go to, you know, late not that there
[21:04] Speaker 2: would be a ton of like really high upside late
[21:07] Speaker 2: round stacks. But you're right, I think that the Jets
[21:10] Speaker 2: are are an interesting case. You know. But you run
[21:13] Speaker 2: into the same thing with Geno Smith arguably, you know
[21:15] Speaker 2: you I mean close your ears rich as a Jets fan,
[21:18] Speaker 2: but you you you you run into the same thing
[21:21] Speaker 2: with Geno Smith arguably as you might with Jacoby Brissett.
[21:24] Speaker 2: Like there's a very real possibility that the Jets are
[21:26] Speaker 2: bad and that they want to just see what they
[21:28] Speaker 2: have and other players down the stretch.
[21:31] Speaker 1: Maybe, I mean, there's no other quarterback on the like
[21:35] Speaker 1: it's going to come down to.
[21:36] Speaker 3: Whether you're not a Clubnick guy. You know, you know
[21:39] Speaker 3: it comes it's going to come down to whether or not.
[21:41] Speaker 1: So if Club Nick again, this is where we can
[21:43] Speaker 1: learn something over the summer, but we won't learn it
[21:45] Speaker 1: until closer to the end of the summer. If if
[21:47] Speaker 1: Club Nick is the bang on number two, you're right
[21:50] Speaker 1: there are out.
[21:51] Speaker 2: That's yes, that's that would be the assumption in this case.
[21:54] Speaker 3: Yes, yeah.
[21:55] Speaker 1: But if like if he and it's it's it's actually
[21:58] Speaker 1: good the way it's set up, because I mean, if
[22:00] Speaker 1: you can't beat out Bailey's appy, like what are we
[22:02] Speaker 1: doing here, then you're like you're never gonna have a
[22:04] Speaker 1: chance to play. But yeah, to your point, even that
[22:10] Speaker 1: it's disgusting, like get your quarterbacks, guys, that's the only
[22:14] Speaker 1: thing that agreed.
[22:15] Speaker 2: I want you do have to think about that stability though,
[22:18] Speaker 2: is really the greater point. Like I don't want to
[22:21] Speaker 2: make it seem like I feel like Geno it equals
[22:24] Speaker 2: Jacoby Brissett, because I think the the Arizona situation is
[22:26] Speaker 2: a lot more fragile than the jet situation. I'm just
[22:30] Speaker 2: saying there's an out here where Gino does not necessarily
[22:35] Speaker 2: play like weeks sixteen in seventeen eighteen, right, Like, there's
[22:38] Speaker 2: there's like a possibility of that happening where you don't
[22:41] Speaker 2: have that, Like I feel less of that happening with
[22:44] Speaker 2: a cam Ward type where they're gonna just need to
[22:47] Speaker 2: give them the full season. They need to see what
[22:49] Speaker 2: they have to be able to make a decision after
[22:52] Speaker 2: this year, and there's obviously more upside with a guy
[22:54] Speaker 2: like Ward than there would be Geno. But yeah, it's
[22:56] Speaker 2: it's a it's a really really tough thing to find
[22:59] Speaker 2: those late stat but I would roll that into it's
[23:02] Speaker 2: hard in general to find, Like this is the last
[23:04] Speaker 2: thing I wanna talk about about the landscape right now.
[23:06] Speaker 2: It's really hard to find good late round picks. I'm
[23:09] Speaker 2: going to talk about some players later on in the
[23:12] Speaker 2: show in just a minute. But I might be hyperbolic
[23:16] Speaker 2: in a way here when I say this, but it
[23:18] Speaker 2: does feel like the round seventeen to twenty players are
[23:23] Speaker 2: worse this year than in previous years, and I think
[23:25] Speaker 2: a lot of that probably has to do with the
[23:28] Speaker 2: comfort of the rookie class. It just it's a class
[23:32] Speaker 2: where I mean, I said it during prospecting season. I
[23:35] Speaker 2: said it after the draft. We have a lot of
[23:38] Speaker 2: wide receivers that are viable, but they are very mid
[23:43] Speaker 2: as the kids say, right, they're just there's just not
[23:46] Speaker 2: a lot of like stand out obvious. I love this,
[23:50] Speaker 2: you know, day two wide receiver type players and I'm
[23:52] Speaker 2: gonna draft a lot. There's some I'm gonna talk about one,
[23:55] Speaker 2: but there aren't a ton of them that I feel
[23:58] Speaker 2: super super great about. And then at running back, it
[24:01] Speaker 2: was arguably the weakest class that we've seen. I mean
[24:04] Speaker 2: at least since that one a few year or a
[24:06] Speaker 2: couple of years ago. But even when you look at
[24:08] Speaker 2: the landscape over the last like fifteen years, those two
[24:11] Speaker 2: are are two of the worst that we've that we've seen.
[24:13] Speaker 2: If not for Jeremiah Love, this clas would be even like,
[24:16] Speaker 2: like way way more putrid. And we saw that through
[24:19] Speaker 2: draft capital. We just didn't see the same amount of
[24:21] Speaker 2: running backs, you know, drafted early or drafted in general.
[24:24] Speaker 2: And then you get guys like Kylon Black, who you know,
[24:27] Speaker 2: like is it gets the draft capital, but has question
[24:30] Speaker 2: marks as a profile as a from a from an
[24:33] Speaker 2: analytics standpoint and from a profile standpoint. So my general
[24:36] Speaker 2: stance is that it's pretty difficult to rely on some
[24:39] Speaker 2: late round picks. So that being said, I think if
[24:41] Speaker 2: there's one position that you can rely on very late
[24:43] Speaker 2: right now, my feeling is probably tight end. I don't
[24:47] Speaker 2: mind some of the high upside late round darts. And
[24:50] Speaker 2: you can go with four tight end builds on DraftKings,
[24:53] Speaker 2: which makes it nice, like you can you can go
[24:55] Speaker 2: that route if you do indeed, you know, don't invest
[24:59] Speaker 2: in the position unto like round fifteen, you can just
[25:01] Speaker 2: get four tight ends and there are you know, some
[25:03] Speaker 2: viable guys up through round twenty that you that you
[25:06] Speaker 2: can go after.
[25:06] Speaker 1: This is one hundred percent And this is what I
[25:08] Speaker 1: was alluding to at the top. We've seen the NFL
[25:12] Speaker 1: change its focus to the tight end position with a
[25:15] Speaker 1: lot more twelve and like in the Rams case, running
[25:18] Speaker 1: a bunch of thirteen. And what I'm feeling in these drafts,
[25:23] Speaker 1: these running backs and receivers in the late double digit
[25:26] Speaker 1: rounds are They're just disgusting.
[25:28] Speaker 3: And there are.
[25:31] Speaker 1: So many outs to you not getting any production from
[25:35] Speaker 1: these players, like even before we bring in injury, right,
[25:39] Speaker 1: like will these guys see the field? And if they
[25:41] Speaker 1: do see the field, can they even be good? Enough
[25:43] Speaker 1: to be productive in the NFL. Couple that with the
[25:46] Speaker 1: increase of tight end usage, and then even before this season,
[25:51] Speaker 1: we see a massive dedication of draft capital throughout the
[25:55] Speaker 1: draft from multiple teams to this position, which lead led
[25:58] Speaker 1: me to the same after like my first half dozen
[26:01] Speaker 1: drafts of I'm going to be very comfortable waiting on
[26:05] Speaker 1: tight end and then just at the end, just sprang
[26:08] Speaker 1: a bunch of picks at tight end because we're getting
[26:12] Speaker 1: this combination of guys that are going to see the
[26:13] Speaker 1: field because teams are rolling out twelve and then there's
[26:17] Speaker 1: also pathways through injury or through production for some of
[26:20] Speaker 1: these guys to just have really good seasons too, Like
[26:23] Speaker 1: the type of draft capital that was just put in
[26:25] Speaker 1: Eli Stowers, like and the AJ Brown departing, Like there's
[26:31] Speaker 1: a path to him being very useful for the Eagles
[26:33] Speaker 1: this season, and you can get him in the seventeenth
[26:36] Speaker 1: round right now.
[26:37] Speaker 2: Right right. It's crazy because, like I mean, if you
[26:39] Speaker 2: guys listen to my stuff during the pre draft process,
[26:42] Speaker 2: you know that, like Zacharia Branch was someone that I
[26:44] Speaker 2: was not super super into because of the way that
[26:47] Speaker 2: he was deployed and his production profile really wasn't that great.
[26:50] Speaker 2: He falls into a pretty good spot in Atlanta where
[26:52] Speaker 2: I think something can happen, and I basically ended up
[26:56] Speaker 2: at market with Zacharia Branch at the end of the day,
[26:58] Speaker 2: which is why sometimes I regret having super strong takes
[27:02] Speaker 2: pre draft, because I know there's gonna be someone out
[27:04] Speaker 2: there that's like, oh, you hated this guy. Yeah, I
[27:06] Speaker 2: didn't like him as a prospect, that's for sure, but
[27:09] Speaker 2: you know, situation in landing spot still matter. But it's
[27:12] Speaker 2: crazy that a player like that that I objectively think
[27:15] Speaker 2: is a very average to blow average prospect for where
[27:18] Speaker 2: he was drafted is someone that I'm still taking in
[27:21] Speaker 2: Best Ball and the nineteen twentieth round because that's just
[27:25] Speaker 2: how weak that whole. You know, I'm drafting like Jalen
[27:28] Speaker 2: Tolbert right now. You know, it's it's just gross at
[27:31] Speaker 2: the non tight end positions. But we'll talk about some
[27:34] Speaker 2: players late that I am going after in just a second.
[27:38] Speaker 2: The one thing I do want to touch on is
[27:40] Speaker 2: how I've approached thing so far, and I'm gonna hear
[27:43] Speaker 2: sort of if you have seen things similarly and you're
[27:45] Speaker 2: drafting things similarly similarly, I think we're back to it
[27:49] Speaker 2: like a three quarterback, five or six running back, eight
[27:52] Speaker 2: or nine wide receiver, three tight end build as sort
[27:55] Speaker 2: of the meta, the baseline, the go to. The thing
[27:58] Speaker 2: is I'm getting a lot of five running back teams
[27:59] Speaker 2: because I'm investing in running back early, like I'm I'm
[28:03] Speaker 2: often going running back running back or you know, it
[28:05] Speaker 2: was I was drafting some Josh Jacobs, you know, in
[28:07] Speaker 2: round three he was like the most the easiest in
[28:10] Speaker 2: my opinion to get at that point. Obviously things have
[28:14] Speaker 2: changed a little bit with his ADP and and the
[28:15] Speaker 2: off the field stuff. But regardless, like I think that
[28:18] Speaker 2: a running back running back start is intuitive, makes a
[28:21] Speaker 2: lot of sense, and then you can kind of choose
[28:24] Speaker 2: your own adventure in round four and five, Like you
[28:26] Speaker 2: could realistically get a third running back as early as
[28:28] Speaker 2: round four in that In that case, whether it's like
[28:30] Speaker 2: a Javante for some stability, or David Montgomery or Cam
[28:35] Speaker 2: Skataboo if you want to risk the injury or you know,
[28:37] Speaker 2: then you get into that five to six range, there's
[28:40] Speaker 2: nothing better than having Trayvon Henderson or bay Shall Tuton
[28:46] Speaker 2: as an RB three on your team. Like that, that's
[28:48] Speaker 2: gonna be the case. In season long. But that's also
[28:50] Speaker 2: the case in best ball, where that's like the perfect scenario. Now,
[28:53] Speaker 2: if you do that, then you have to adjust and say, Okay,
[28:56] Speaker 2: I won't get Tyler Warren in the sixth, I'll pound
[28:58] Speaker 2: wide receiver because I don't want to fall behind a
[29:00] Speaker 2: wide receiver. All that stuff, right, Like, we will get
[29:02] Speaker 2: into that as the summer goes on about how you know,
[29:04] Speaker 2: balancing your team and you know, investments early mean less
[29:07] Speaker 2: investment late, all that kind of stuff. But I do
[29:09] Speaker 2: think a five running back build is gonna be a
[29:12] Speaker 2: little bit more common for me this year than it
[29:13] Speaker 2: was last year, even probably half and half, five and six,
[29:16] Speaker 2: just depending on how I'm investing at the run in
[29:18] Speaker 2: the running back position. But it's more of like a three,
[29:21] Speaker 2: five or six, eight or nine and then three build
[29:24] Speaker 2: and then, like I said, feeling okay about some of
[29:26] Speaker 2: those late round tight ends, which makes going three or
[29:29] Speaker 2: four sometimes a little bit easier.
[29:31] Speaker 1: When you run up four tight ends, I kind of
[29:33] Speaker 1: had a I got excited. That's something I haven't even
[29:36] Speaker 1: played around with. But the thing about going early running
[29:39] Speaker 1: back and then going fewer running backs is again, I
[29:43] Speaker 1: don't want to be in round eighteen looking at Chris
[29:45] Speaker 1: Brooks and James Connor and being like, I need to
[29:48] Speaker 1: throw somebody in my running back room, Like I don't
[29:51] Speaker 1: think that is a wise way to approach this.
[29:53] Speaker 2: Right Yeah, And I'm still doing it because you sometimes
[29:56] Speaker 2: you're forced to, you know, like some like sometimes you're like, oh, well,
[30:00] Speaker 2: I didn't address this as much as I should have
[30:01] Speaker 2: earlier on, and so oh, all of a sudden, I've
[30:04] Speaker 2: got a draft and take a chance that Josh Jacobs
[30:07] Speaker 2: doesn't play, or in that they don't because like even
[30:09] Speaker 2: in these scenarios, right, like for James Connor to hit,
[30:13] Speaker 2: for instance, you probably like ideally need a trade, right
[30:16] Speaker 2: Like that's or like a serious injury or two. But
[30:20] Speaker 2: like that's that's the way that that pans out for
[30:22] Speaker 2: Chris Brooks to really pan out. It's Josh Jacobs gets
[30:25] Speaker 2: suspended and they don't sign it, or you trade for somebody,
[30:28] Speaker 2: which I think they would in the in the scenario
[30:31] Speaker 2: if Josh Jacobs were to be sidelined anyway, because it's
[30:33] Speaker 2: obviously a competitive team and they have one of the
[30:35] Speaker 2: worst depth charts behind their starter in the NFL right now,
[30:38] Speaker 2: it's just there's there's not much going on there at all.
[30:41] Speaker 1: All these running backs and receivers in the late double
[30:43] Speaker 1: digeer rounds need a parly to have any type of success,
[30:46] Speaker 1: whereas the tight ends are gonna be on the field
[30:49] Speaker 1: and could just fall in the end zone.
[30:51] Speaker 2: You can make the argument that this is something that
[30:53] Speaker 2: we will see every year and that it's but I
[30:55] Speaker 2: don't agree totally, Like I think this year's worse, Like
[31:00] Speaker 2: there have been other seasons where we at least knew
[31:03] Speaker 2: some of these wide receivers were going to be out
[31:06] Speaker 2: there in two wide receiver sets, or some of these
[31:09] Speaker 2: running backs had like a very clear backup role, you know,
[31:13] Speaker 2: that that we felt strongly about and that that we
[31:15] Speaker 2: could that we could go after that player. I just
[31:18] Speaker 2: don't feel that way at all right now. And maybe
[31:21] Speaker 2: maybe we get some more clarity as the summer goes on.
[31:23] Speaker 2: Maybe maybe it is just the timing of it. You know,
[31:25] Speaker 2: we're recording this on June and second it's going on
[31:27] Speaker 2: on June third, and so you know, maybe maybe that's
[31:30] Speaker 2: all going to play some role in making us feel
[31:32] Speaker 2: more comfortable. But right now today I think that you
[31:35] Speaker 2: do need to feel a little more stable, Like if
[31:38] Speaker 2: you can get to round eighteen. That's what I kind
[31:40] Speaker 2: of felt like today with the draft that I had
[31:41] Speaker 2: posted on discord. If you can get to round eighteen
[31:45] Speaker 2: and be like this is a complete team, I can
[31:47] Speaker 2: just do whatever I want in the last two or
[31:50] Speaker 2: three rounds, that's where you need to be.
[31:51] Speaker 1: I think this time of year, I think your point
[31:53] Speaker 1: about a trade, I think we just need to be
[31:55] Speaker 1: prayer circle. We need we need Tank Dell to get traded.
[31:59] Speaker 1: We need j Connor to get traded. We need these
[32:02] Speaker 1: guys that Kaishan Boody come out. Where's he going like?
[32:05] Speaker 1: We need these guys to go to some exciting teams.
[32:08] Speaker 2: By the way, but those players, like I think Stefan
[32:10] Speaker 2: Diggs right now is a great pick because anywhere Stefan
[32:13] Speaker 2: Diggs goes, he's going to see an upticking ADP. We
[32:15] Speaker 2: see this all the time, right So, draft Stephan Dicks.
[32:18] Speaker 2: I've been throwing darts at Kaishan Boudy because what if,
[32:21] Speaker 2: like Booty goes almost anywhere he probably is is going
[32:26] Speaker 2: to be drafted higher than where he's being drafted right now,
[32:28] Speaker 2: more than likely.
[32:29] Speaker 1: Uh.
[32:30] Speaker 2: And I think there's some spots like a Washington for instance,
[32:32] Speaker 2: where we're all assuming that that there are other perimeter
[32:35] Speaker 2: guy's gonna be like Ayuk and maybe even like a Dig's.
[32:38] Speaker 2: But what if it is Kaishan Boudy. I think Booty
[32:41] Speaker 2: works really well with what they need like that, that's
[32:43] Speaker 2: kind of the perfect type of player to add to
[32:46] Speaker 2: their arsenal, to just have something which would hurt a
[32:49] Speaker 2: guy I'm going to talk about here in a second,
[32:50] Speaker 2: maybe we should just kick that off right now and
[32:52] Speaker 2: just talk about some some players that I've been I mean,
[32:54] Speaker 2: I feel like this is what we do to start
[32:56] Speaker 2: becoming a basketball bro every year, just to give you
[32:58] Speaker 2: guys a little sneak peak as to what my exposure
[33:02] Speaker 2: looks like right now. But I'm talking about Washington. I'll
[33:05] Speaker 2: just talk about Antonio Williams. Like I have a lot
[33:07] Speaker 2: of Antonio wills I got a lot of them pre draft.
[33:10] Speaker 2: He was one of the players in the when I
[33:12] Speaker 2: talked on the Late Round show about rookies to get
[33:16] Speaker 2: invest ball based on my rankings and what ADP was saying,
[33:20] Speaker 2: Antonio Williams was the biggest gap at that point pre
[33:23] Speaker 2: draft because I don't think that the market at that
[33:26] Speaker 2: time realized that he was going to get good draft capital.
[33:29] Speaker 2: But Antonio Williams himself wasn't a bad prospect. I don't
[33:32] Speaker 2: think he was like phenomenal, but he had a pretty
[33:35] Speaker 2: decent age adjustin production profile where he got production immediately
[33:40] Speaker 2: in college. It just didn't give us. He never gave
[33:43] Speaker 2: us that like Spike season. You know, it never got
[33:46] Speaker 2: tremendously better. But his top comp in the ZAT model
[33:49] Speaker 2: was Lad mconkie. A lot of that had to do
[33:51] Speaker 2: with the fact that McConkie. I don't use yards perout
[33:53] Speaker 2: run for various reasons in the in the ZAPP model,
[33:56] Speaker 2: but McConkie was a good per route run guy and
[33:59] Speaker 2: Antonio Williams was not that to nearly do that degree.
[34:02] Speaker 2: So take that with a grain of salt. But the
[34:05] Speaker 2: you know, breakout score stuff looked relatively similar. They have
[34:08] Speaker 2: a versatile profile where I value players who get a
[34:11] Speaker 2: little bit of rushing work and you know, are deployed
[34:14] Speaker 2: in different ways. And then post draft they talked about
[34:17] Speaker 2: Antonio Williams, like a lot of people were like, oh,
[34:19] Speaker 2: he's just a slot, but he got good like decent
[34:21] Speaker 2: Draft Capital Day two, Draft Capital and Washington talked about
[34:25] Speaker 2: using Antonia Williams as their Z and so right now today.
[34:29] Speaker 2: You know, we're making the assumption they're gonna like change
[34:32] Speaker 2: something and add something. We just did that a second
[34:35] Speaker 2: ago and talking about Kisham Boudi. But there's a real
[34:38] Speaker 2: chance that Antonio Williams is just their number two wide
[34:41] Speaker 2: receiver this year, and even if he gets competition like
[34:45] Speaker 2: Ayuk or something goes there. Not only is there like
[34:48] Speaker 2: a lot of variance and volatility with a player like
[34:50] Speaker 2: Brandon Ayuk because we haven't seen him playing so long
[34:52] Speaker 2: and he's had some off the field stuff, but there's
[34:55] Speaker 2: that going on. We have no idea how good or
[34:58] Speaker 2: bad he would be. But even if he's like decent,
[35:00] Speaker 2: there's still some room for Antonio Williams to give us
[35:02] Speaker 2: some production in some spiked weeks.
[35:04] Speaker 1: Washington fun too, because you can go naked Jayden in
[35:07] Speaker 1: the sixth and then just kind of pump the brakes
[35:09] Speaker 1: a little bit if you want, and then you can
[35:12] Speaker 1: just grab Antonio and chig right there in the mid
[35:15] Speaker 1: double edged rounds. So that's one of those where you
[35:18] Speaker 1: can be a little bit more flexible if you do
[35:20] Speaker 1: go naked.
[35:21] Speaker 3: Jayden who fingers crossed.
[35:22] Speaker 1: I mean, from a watching football perspective, I think we
[35:24] Speaker 1: all want him to have a bounce back third season
[35:26] Speaker 1: because he's the electrics for sure.
[35:29] Speaker 2: Next guy, I'm going to talk about Lad McConkey. This
[35:32] Speaker 2: isn't surprising anyone who's been listening to the show. We're
[35:34] Speaker 2: gonna see non eleven personnel more frequently in LA. Even
[35:39] Speaker 2: though Greg Roman, you know, is a power guy. We
[35:42] Speaker 2: still if you look at Mike McDaniel's offenses, historically, he'll
[35:45] Speaker 2: use you know, some two tight end sets and you know,
[35:49] Speaker 2: heavier personnel from that perspective, but he's a big fullback guy,
[35:51] Speaker 2: and so you're going to see more and more two
[35:55] Speaker 2: and even one wide receiver looks from the Chargers. And
[35:59] Speaker 2: I've refed the Ryan Heath article that I had tweeted
[36:02] Speaker 2: out like a couple of weeks ago when he wrote that,
[36:04] Speaker 2: But there's a really good stat in there about how
[36:06] Speaker 2: Lad McConkie ran very few routes with one or two
[36:11] Speaker 2: wide receivers on the field, including him, whereas Jalen Waddle
[36:14] Speaker 2: saw that on like forty five to fifty percent of
[36:17] Speaker 2: his routes run last season. And so I think that
[36:19] Speaker 2: there's a very real chance that we see McConkie, you know,
[36:23] Speaker 2: just just get more directed targets in this offense, and
[36:28] Speaker 2: it's an offense that's going to be getting back their
[36:30] Speaker 2: offensive lot. You know, they are two tackles that are
[36:32] Speaker 2: it's huge for what they could do offensively. I mean
[36:35] Speaker 2: the splits, it's a small sample, but the splits with
[36:38] Speaker 2: with them without Ault last year for Justin Herbert incredibly insane,
[36:43] Speaker 2: absolutely crazy, right, And so I think that the Chargers, Like, yes,
[36:49] Speaker 2: it's kind of a bandwagony thing and like a chalky
[36:51] Speaker 2: thing to say and do, But I don't really think
[36:54] Speaker 2: ADP is reflecting it enough. I have a ton I.
[36:57] Speaker 1: Remember it's still in the seventh the Qj's in the Like,
[37:00] Speaker 1: I feel like we should be Mike McDaniel what he
[37:04] Speaker 1: did with a flawed quarterback into a takaovlaalaa and having
[37:07] Speaker 1: the most efficient offense in the sport for a season,
[37:11] Speaker 1: probably multiple seasons. Like, I don't think it's reflected whatsoever
[37:15] Speaker 1: in eighties.
[37:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, like, and I'm not saying that, like, like I
[37:18] Speaker 2: understand why Lad is going where he's going, but I
[37:20] Speaker 2: like him at the top of that tier versus more
[37:22] Speaker 2: in the middle of that tier or like Qj's fine.
[37:24] Speaker 2: I have a ton of Trey Harris right now, because
[37:27] Speaker 2: I think there's a chance that he just sees some
[37:29] Speaker 2: work and he's he's one of the few like eighteen
[37:33] Speaker 2: eight eighteenth round guy wide receivers that I actually think
[37:36] Speaker 2: is gonna see some production for us that like, I
[37:39] Speaker 2: feel good about a floor for him this year because
[37:42] Speaker 2: I think he'll get like something in what is a
[37:44] Speaker 2: good offense. And then I'll just I'll just move this
[37:47] Speaker 2: to Keaton Mitchell because he's another guy in this list. Now.
[37:50] Speaker 2: Obviously Mitchell is a probably a betteran best ball guy
[37:53] Speaker 2: because he you know, has the big playability that he has.
[37:57] Speaker 2: I don't know if his receiving upside is immense just
[38:00] Speaker 2: in general. And obviously a Marion Hampton's there. I like Hampton.
[38:03] Speaker 2: I'm not overweight or underweight on Hampton just because I
[38:05] Speaker 2: like some of the other running backs that go in
[38:07] Speaker 2: that range. But Keaton Mitchell have a ton of Keithon
[38:10] Speaker 2: Mitchell because the fit with them. With McDaniel who loves speed,
[38:14] Speaker 2: I mean we saw that with the Brendon Thompson pick
[38:16] Speaker 2: and you know him going out. There was even the
[38:18] Speaker 2: video that the Chargers posted afterwards of Mike McDaniel saying
[38:21] Speaker 2: we need to get Brennan Thompson. Can I get Brendan Thompson?
[38:24] Speaker 2: And they went and drafted him. Keaton Mitchell's a speed guy,
[38:27] Speaker 2: and he, to me, is a perfect compliment to Marion Hampton.
[38:30] Speaker 2: I mean, it's a it's a crazy one two punch.
[38:33] Speaker 2: And I know Kamanie videll is still there, who had
[38:35] Speaker 2: a great season last year, and I've been someone who
[38:37] Speaker 2: who likes videll As as a player. But Keaton Mitchell
[38:41] Speaker 2: and his speed behind a good offensive line when healthy
[38:44] Speaker 2: in a really elite offense potentially could bring us like multiple,
[38:49] Speaker 2: multiple spiked weeks. And so when I am looking for that,
[38:53] Speaker 2: just like fun random upside running back where obviously, if
[38:57] Speaker 2: an injury happens with Marion Hampton, Keaton Mitchell wouldn't become
[39:00] Speaker 2: the bellcow, but he would see a little bit more work.
[39:02] Speaker 2: I'm just attaching the running back to a really good offense.
[39:05] Speaker 2: So I have a ton of Keat and Mitchell right
[39:06] Speaker 2: now too.
[39:07] Speaker 1: The other thing about the Chargers is with them playing
[39:09] Speaker 1: the Chiefs in Week seventeen, nobody wants to touch Rashi
[39:12] Speaker 1: Rice with a fifty foot poll. True, everybody's worried about
[39:16] Speaker 1: Mahomes off the ACL everybody thinks Travis Kelce is completely washed.
[39:21] Speaker 1: So like Chiefs, Chargers is one of the most affordable
[39:24] Speaker 1: stacks right now and it could be an electric game with.
[39:27] Speaker 2: Two Yes, yeah, absolutely, another later round guy. I've been
[39:33] Speaker 2: drafting Jonah Coleman, JK. Dobbins, frequently injured. Jonah Coleman's solid prospect.
[39:39] Speaker 2: He's doing all. RJ. Harvey has some question marks. I
[39:42] Speaker 2: think it's a good environment. I'm not gonna be surprised
[39:44] Speaker 2: if this is a three headed backfield. I think RJ.
[39:46] Speaker 2: Harvey is the most upside still in the backfield. Oddly,
[39:49] Speaker 2: I've kind of, you know, I've been like very anti RJ.
[39:52] Speaker 2: Harvey throughout the offseason and calling him a cell and
[39:55] Speaker 2: such like back in January. But I actually don't think RJ.
[39:58] Speaker 2: Harvey is like that horrific of a click right now,
[40:00] Speaker 2: given the drop that we see in running back and
[40:03] Speaker 2: just given that range. Like I said, I like some
[40:05] Speaker 2: of the quarterbacks in that range in general, and just
[40:07] Speaker 2: kind of like building that way. But I don't think RJ.
[40:09] Speaker 2: Harvey is that bad of a pick. I'm more afraid
[40:11] Speaker 2: of JK. Dobbins. Where Dobbins is obviously hurt a lot.
[40:15] Speaker 2: He's more of the early down guy, and Jonah Coleman
[40:17] Speaker 2: can play that. I mean, Jonah Coleman's the biggest running
[40:19] Speaker 2: back on that team now and I think that he
[40:22] Speaker 2: can play that role be a goal line back as
[40:23] Speaker 2: well potentially. You know, And where is dobbins upside really
[40:27] Speaker 2: coming from? Is my question? Like he had a four
[40:29] Speaker 2: percent target share last year, He's not He's not deployed
[40:32] Speaker 2: as a receivers and this is a full PPR platform.
[40:35] Speaker 2: So I've mostly you know, I was in on Dobbins
[40:38] Speaker 2: last year at his cost, but I've I've faded Dobbins
[40:41] Speaker 2: this year because of all of that. It's just a
[40:43] Speaker 2: very scary profile in my opinion. So Jonah Coleman as
[40:47] Speaker 2: a later round pick I do like a decent bit.
[40:51] Speaker 2: I'll move on to another running back that I think
[40:53] Speaker 2: everyone should be clicking more of. That's Sean Tucker in
[40:56] Speaker 2: the late rounds. Bucky Irving has the question marks that
[40:58] Speaker 2: he has. You know, no one on that roster in
[41:00] Speaker 2: that backfield is quite like Sean Tucker in terms of
[41:03] Speaker 2: being more of a between the tackles bruiser. You know,
[41:05] Speaker 2: I think that he can be a pass catcher. He
[41:07] Speaker 2: actually did that in college quite well, but he was
[41:10] Speaker 2: an all around back, one of the best. Sean Tucker
[41:12] Speaker 2: is one of the best Zap model running backs for
[41:14] Speaker 2: an undrafted guy, and the reason he went undrafted is
[41:16] Speaker 2: because he had that heart condition, and so he's done
[41:18] Speaker 2: well at times throughout his career when he's gotten more work.
[41:22] Speaker 2: Towards the end of last year, he was their goal
[41:24] Speaker 2: line guy, which I think could happen again this year
[41:27] Speaker 2: with Bucky Irving having question marks health wise and Kenneth
[41:30] Speaker 2: Gainwell just not being that kind of player. So I
[41:33] Speaker 2: think Sean Tucker again one of the very very few
[41:37] Speaker 2: running backs you can get very late that should give
[41:40] Speaker 2: you some sort of floor. You know, in that offense.
[41:42] Speaker 2: The biggest question mark is that they have Zach Robinson
[41:45] Speaker 2: now and who knows what that offense is truly going
[41:48] Speaker 2: to look like. But you know, there is still some
[41:50] Speaker 2: stability with the coaching staff there and they might have
[41:54] Speaker 2: some input on what they should be doing with with
[41:56] Speaker 2: Sean Tucker.
[41:57] Speaker 3: Shawn Tucker has proof of concept.
[41:59] Speaker 1: The running backs around him are all mid rookies who
[42:01] Speaker 1: were going to be grasping for straws to see what
[42:04] Speaker 1: their productivity is going to be in their offenses, right,
[42:07] Speaker 1: Nick Singleton, Emma Johnson, Mike Washington, Kateron Allen, what are
[42:11] Speaker 1: these guys going to be?
[42:12] Speaker 3: We don't know. So at least a Tucker, we have
[42:14] Speaker 3: proof of concept.
[42:15] Speaker 2: Realistically, maybe I shouldn't because this is off the dome, okay,
[42:19] Speaker 2: but realistically I feel like Sean Tucker's like sixtieth and
[42:24] Speaker 2: seventieth percentile outcome is k Tron Allen's like ninetieth percentile outcome? Right,
[42:29] Speaker 2: Because it's the same kind of kind of use case
[42:31] Speaker 2: here where you are looking at an early down bruiser,
[42:35] Speaker 2: and yes, there's an easier depth chart to climb for
[42:39] Speaker 2: k Tron Allen than Sean Tucker, and maybe it ends
[42:42] Speaker 2: up being a better environment. But we do have that
[42:44] Speaker 2: proof of concept, like you're saying, you know, for Tucker
[42:47] Speaker 2: in the NFL, and already are already having proven that.
[42:50] Speaker 2: So yeah, it's an interesting discussion to have for sure.
[42:52] Speaker 2: The other thing I want to talk about is another
[42:55] Speaker 2: player is Tyler Warren, who I didn't really expect to
[42:58] Speaker 2: be in on this year, But you get to that
[43:00] Speaker 2: sixth round range and there's a drop off at basically
[43:03] Speaker 2: every position and if you're not stacking at quarterback right there,
[43:06] Speaker 2: then in there then it's really easy to get the
[43:09] Speaker 2: tight end, and you know, get a guy who really
[43:12] Speaker 2: there's not many alternatives in Indianapolis. I like Josh Downs
[43:15] Speaker 2: a lot too. I don't mind Alec Pierce, which I
[43:17] Speaker 2: thought I was gonna be out on Alec Pearce, but
[43:18] Speaker 2: his price has been totally reasonable, surprisingly this offseason. But
[43:22] Speaker 2: those are the only three guys that were really worried
[43:24] Speaker 2: about from a pass catching standpoint in Indianapolis right now.
[43:28] Speaker 2: Tyler Warren should get a lot of manufacturer touches. You know,
[43:30] Speaker 2: his splits with him without Daniel Jones were massive last year.
[43:33] Speaker 2: He was great with Daniel Jones. So I like Tyler
[43:36] Speaker 2: Warren in that sixth round range.
[43:37] Speaker 1: Realistically, shouldn't him and Colson lovel be closer in ADP Probably?
[43:42] Speaker 2: I look, I have a hard time with Loveland from
[43:45] Speaker 2: not from the stand like. He's one of the hardest
[43:47] Speaker 2: players to rank for me. So I don't mean a
[43:49] Speaker 2: hard time drafting him. I mean a hard time like
[43:52] Speaker 2: knowing exactly where he should go. It's difficult because the
[43:56] Speaker 2: upside is crazy for Colson Lovelin. I I think Colston
[44:01] Speaker 2: Lovelan could very easily be like the next big fantasy
[44:06] Speaker 2: you know, like the next Travis Kelsey type player, you know,
[44:09] Speaker 2: the breaking fantasy football type guy. And I don't want
[44:13] Speaker 2: to miss out on that. So I'm not gonna be
[44:14] Speaker 2: below market on Colson Lovelan. I don't think this year,
[44:16] Speaker 2: or at least, you know, like like immensely below. The
[44:19] Speaker 2: environment's great. We saw, I mean, his usage down the
[44:22] Speaker 2: stretch and in the playoffs was crazy, right, and so,
[44:25] Speaker 2: but I do agree that Tyler Warren is undervalued and
[44:28] Speaker 2: should be closer to that Loveland ADP. It's just that
[44:31] Speaker 2: I think Loveland could even go higher realistically, depending on
[44:34] Speaker 2: how you want to build the problem is that we've
[44:36] Speaker 2: talked about tight ends already, and why maybe going elite
[44:40] Speaker 2: tight end isn't as easy in this scenario right now,
[44:43] Speaker 2: just because we don't have as much information about the
[44:45] Speaker 2: late round guys, about the late round running back and
[44:47] Speaker 2: wide receivers.
[44:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, the difference with Colson, you're competing like are you
[44:50] Speaker 1: going to take Karl Wilson or team act there whereas
[44:54] Speaker 1: you're competing, like you said, with a lot less down
[44:56] Speaker 1: with Tyler Warren.
[44:58] Speaker 2: Yes, all right, I'll go through a few more and
[45:00] Speaker 2: then we got to get out of here. Chris Godwin,
[45:03] Speaker 2: I've been drafting a lot of him coming off that
[45:04] Speaker 2: brutal injury last year. It's expected that he wasn't gonna
[45:08] Speaker 2: have crazy great numbers, but that the Zach Robinson tie
[45:12] Speaker 2: to Gobham potentially playing the slot and that being a
[45:15] Speaker 2: pretty favorable area for Robinson wide receivers, and it being
[45:19] Speaker 2: kind of a dead area in the draft at running
[45:21] Speaker 2: back and wide receiver. I think Godwin's gonna be able
[45:24] Speaker 2: to give us some love. I mean, we're seeing understandably,
[45:27] Speaker 2: so Abuka has been rising even more. He's like the
[45:30] Speaker 2: a Mecca. Buka is like the guy in drafts, for
[45:34] Speaker 2: whatever reason, is the one in round four who was
[45:38] Speaker 2: in round four who's risen the most from all of
[45:41] Speaker 2: the chaos going on with Rashid Rice, Josh Jacobs, the
[45:44] Speaker 2: AJ Brown stuff all that. For some reason, the Mecca
[45:47] Speaker 2: Buka is the one that's been rising the most from
[45:49] Speaker 2: an ADP perspective. And maybe it's a little bit of
[45:51] Speaker 2: the coach speaks stuff or what have you, and maybe
[45:54] Speaker 2: it's a group thing thing. But I don't want to
[45:56] Speaker 2: forget about Chris Godwin through all that. You guys know
[45:58] Speaker 2: that I'm a big a Mecca Buka fan, but I
[46:00] Speaker 2: don't want to lose sight of the fact that Godwin
[46:02] Speaker 2: is playing without Mike Evans this year, Like Mike Mike
[46:04] Speaker 2: Evans is gone, and Godwin has a very reasonable ADP,
[46:09] Speaker 2: even considering he might not blow up, he might not
[46:12] Speaker 2: be incredible, but two years ago, before that devastating injury,
[46:16] Speaker 2: he was a top three wide receiver in the NFL.
[46:19] Speaker 2: He was going nuts. He was blowing up himself as
[46:22] Speaker 2: a player before the leg did. And so I'm really
[46:27] Speaker 2: hoping that that Godwin has a nice little bounce back.
[46:29] Speaker 2: So I've been drafting him. I got DeVante Smith pretty
[46:32] Speaker 2: high right now. I was drafting him a lot before
[46:34] Speaker 2: the AJ Brown thing. I'm shocked that AJ Brown has
[46:37] Speaker 2: been moving as much as he has post trade already,
[46:40] Speaker 2: and this is twenty four hours basically after that trade
[46:43] Speaker 2: was announced. But I've seen him go in the in
[46:45] Speaker 2: round two, you know, like mid round two consistently, some
[46:48] Speaker 2: people have said they draft him over Drake London. I'm
[46:51] Speaker 2: shocked by that, Like I just didn't. I didn't think
[46:54] Speaker 2: that is Like I knew his ADP would move just
[46:56] Speaker 2: because that's the way that Drafters draft, I just didn't
[46:58] Speaker 2: think it would move that significantly. I do have Ma
[47:01] Speaker 2: Tier ahead of Devonte Smith, but I love Devonte Smith
[47:04] Speaker 2: as a player, and I think that he can easily
[47:05] Speaker 2: take a step forward without a J. Brown. His splits
[47:08] Speaker 2: without either God or Goddard or a J. Brown historically
[47:11] Speaker 2: have been great. And I'm really a fan of what
[47:13] Speaker 2: this new offense.
[47:14] Speaker 1: Like.
[47:14] Speaker 2: We can't under sell how bad Kevin Patula was last year,
[47:17] Speaker 2: right like, we just it's just it was really really bad.
[47:20] Speaker 2: So DeVante Smith is one. Two more, I'll give you
[47:23] Speaker 2: two late round tight end darts. I did mention Pat Fryarmouth.
[47:27] Speaker 2: I don't have him listen on here. The two that
[47:29] Speaker 2: I've been going to most are Greg Dolcic, who market score.
[47:33] Speaker 1: If you guys, listen to the league's favorite target.
[47:37] Speaker 2: Apparently League willis his favorite receiver right now. Greg Dolcers
[47:40] Speaker 2: had a really really efficient twenty twenty five season. He
[47:44] Speaker 2: was not a bad prospect at one point three years ago.
[47:47] Speaker 2: I think I was I was in on him as
[47:48] Speaker 2: a late round tight end.
[47:50] Speaker 3: I think the first short I ever made for you,
[47:53] Speaker 3: was it? Gregson?
[47:54] Speaker 2: Was it? Yeah? That's a big l on my behalf.
[47:58] Speaker 2: But regardless, we're back, baby, We're back on Greg Dolstich.
[48:02] Speaker 2: When it's a seventeenth to twentieth round pick, you know,
[48:05] Speaker 2: why not whenever there's an open room, like we should
[48:07] Speaker 2: be looking for open pass catching rooms for our tight end.
[48:10] Speaker 2: So that's one, and I can't quit Terrence Ferguson. I
[48:13] Speaker 2: think Max Claire is a really good tight end prospect.
[48:16] Speaker 2: But the way that Sean McVay has historically slow played
[48:20] Speaker 2: as rookies, what they did with Terrence Ferguson even last year,
[48:23] Speaker 2: and Ferguson was good last year when he when he
[48:26] Speaker 2: got some opportunity, I think Ferguson makes more sense over
[48:29] Speaker 2: Colby Parkinson when when Parkinson often has the higher it
[48:34] Speaker 2: will go earlier and has the higher ADP. So I'm
[48:36] Speaker 2: going after Ferguson because I think the the athleticism profile,
[48:39] Speaker 2: the athletic profiles there, the athleticisms there, the production was
[48:42] Speaker 2: fine enough last year for rookie tight end, and they
[48:45] Speaker 2: you know, they're they're a heavy team. They will There's
[48:48] Speaker 2: no wide receiver three on that team that we feel
[48:51] Speaker 2: concerned about or worried about taking some of these looks.
[48:53] Speaker 2: And I think Ferguson's probably the most natural, like young,
[48:56] Speaker 2: up and coming athletic tight end pass catcher that they
[48:59] Speaker 2: have on that team right now. So I'm going after
[49:01] Speaker 2: Ferguson and just attaching him to one of the best offenses,
[49:04] Speaker 2: I mean, probably the best team now in football after
[49:07] Speaker 2: that Miles Garrett trade.
[49:08] Speaker 3: Yeah, insane stuff.
[49:09] Speaker 1: It's it's I love that all four Rams tight ends
[49:12] Speaker 1: are being drafted because yeah, I mean, nobody wants to
[49:16] Speaker 1: put any faith in either Winningham or or Mumpfield having
[49:21] Speaker 1: any impact.
[49:21] Speaker 3: If there's a receiver injury, They're like, they're just going
[49:23] Speaker 3: to bring in another type.
[49:24] Speaker 2: They're just gonna use tight I mean, look McVeigh, I've
[49:27] Speaker 2: said this a lot with the twelve personnel discussion, but
[49:29] Speaker 2: like the genius of what the Rams were able to
[49:31] Speaker 2: do last year not is this is not a just
[49:35] Speaker 2: put tight ends on the field and everything will be fine.
[49:38] Speaker 2: This is a you're putting versatile tight ends on the
[49:41] Speaker 2: field so that they're able to do things pre snap
[49:44] Speaker 2: and they're able to like they'll run Terrence Ferguson as
[49:47] Speaker 2: the X at times, you know, like they'll they'll do
[49:49] Speaker 2: crazy stuff and that's why he's valuable. You know, Max
[49:52] Speaker 2: Claire is a really good all around tight end who's
[49:55] Speaker 2: going to allow them to have that versatility. And that's
[49:58] Speaker 2: what really makes the transition to heavier personnel so effective
[50:02] Speaker 2: against defenses these days. It's not simply like we're gonna
[50:05] Speaker 2: just this is just smash mouth football and we're gonna
[50:08] Speaker 2: beat you with this. You know this is a no.
[50:10] Speaker 2: The teams that are doing it effectively are doing it
[50:12] Speaker 2: effectively with very specific personnel. And I am a believer
[50:15] Speaker 2: that Terrence Ferguson is a player who fits that personnel.
[50:19] Speaker 2: If things hit right, it might not hit right, like
[50:22] Speaker 2: Jesus are won't Like there's better odds that he doesn't
[50:24] Speaker 2: hit than does right. But I do think that intuitively
[50:27] Speaker 2: he is a player that fits this mold of this
[50:30] Speaker 2: new wave in the NFL very very well.
[50:32] Speaker 3: He passed the eye test last year.
[50:34] Speaker 1: Every time he was targeted, it was like, man, why
[50:36] Speaker 1: can't they get Terrence?
[50:37] Speaker 2: Excitmar Yeah, But anyway, all right, that's it for the guy.
[50:42] Speaker 2: That's it for the show. Rich for episode one of
