[0:10] Speaker 3: pie a j What about you?
[0:12] Speaker 1: Nice? Mine was great? Pretty similar. We went to the pool.
[0:15] Speaker 4: I had this American flag themed, you know, red white

[0:20] Speaker 1: I had American flag swimsuit.
[0:22] Speaker 4: I had this like, you know, sort of button up
[0:25] Speaker 4: American flag, you know, red white and blue shirt going on.
[0:29] Speaker 4: And then I was wearing a hat, a red, white
[0:31] Speaker 4: and blue hat. And as I was at the pool,
[0:34] Speaker 4: I got a couple people commenting saying, man, I really
[0:36] Speaker 4: like your hat, and it was red, white and blue.
[0:39] Speaker 4: But I thought about it and I realized I was
[0:42] Speaker 4: wearing a Quebec nor Deeke's hat. I was wearing a
[0:45] Speaker 4: Canadian hat on.

[2:16] Speaker 4: Zacharies and joined as always by Rich Ryan Rich.
[2:19] Speaker 1: What's going on, Buddy?
[2:20] Speaker 2: Doing good? Buddy, you weren't far off.
[2:23] Speaker 3: Canada Day is July first, and the only reason I
[2:26] Speaker 3: know that is because my son was born on July first,
[2:30] Speaker 3: and my brother lives in Ontario, so they thought it
[2:34] Speaker 3: was hilarious that I had a child on Canada Day.
[2:38] Speaker 4: Canada feeling just as bad as we are about the
[2:41] Speaker 4: World Cup result.
[2:42] Speaker 1: I told my wife this morning.
[2:44] Speaker 4: I was like, because she fell asleep, didn't watch, didn'
[2:46] Speaker 4: end up watching the game, which I mean, smart decision
[2:49] Speaker 4: in the end. But I was like, yeah, that was
[2:51] Speaker 4: the worst soccer game that I've ever watched. And I've
[2:54] Speaker 4: watched a dozen of them, you know, I'm I've watched
[2:58] Speaker 4: so many soccer games.
[2:59] Speaker 2: This man, that was that was brilliant.
[3:03] Speaker 3: It's just emblematic of just the difference in class between
[3:07] Speaker 3: the American players and players abroad, guys that have been
[3:10] Speaker 3: in European academies and systems, and man, they really clapp
[3:15] Speaker 3: well as soon as they didn't start Kevin de Bryna.
[3:18] Speaker 3: It kind of said everything that they thought about us
[3:21] Speaker 3: as a soccer nation.
[3:23] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, rough, rough rough night for for Americans.
[3:27] Speaker 4: Uh, you know, but it's nice that we can all
[3:29] Speaker 4: commiserate together, like you're used to commiserating only with other
[3:32] Speaker 4: Jets fans, and that's all you can do is, uh
[3:37] Speaker 4: is go to that fan. I mean as as a
[3:39] Speaker 4: born and raised yinser, you know, it hasn't been that
[3:42] Speaker 4: that long, not not quite as long as you've been
[3:44] Speaker 4: you've been dealing with the the ls.
[3:46] Speaker 1: But anyway, we're gonna talk a little best ball today.
[3:49] Speaker 4: I don't really have that much from a game theory
[3:52] Speaker 4: what I'm seeing perspective right now. I've still kind of
[3:56] Speaker 4: been approaching drafts with the mentality of mixing things up
[4:00] Speaker 4: from a structural perspective, Like I don't want to only
[4:04] Speaker 4: go running back running back and then have these teams
[4:06] Speaker 4: that are structured the exact same way, because then I'm
[4:08] Speaker 4: not getting the right.
[4:09] Speaker 1: Exposure for certain players and such.
[4:12] Speaker 4: But I also think that, like we shouldn't assume that
[4:15] Speaker 4: there's only one optimal way to draft these things. I
[4:17] Speaker 4: think that it could very easily be a year where
[4:19] Speaker 4: we get better wide receiver production, you know, especially at
[4:22] Speaker 4: the top, or you know, could be a year where
[4:24] Speaker 4: we get you know, some of these like middle round
[4:26] Speaker 4: running backs who have good pass catching profiles, Like I
[4:28] Speaker 4: don't want to just dismiss them because I'm going after
[4:30] Speaker 4: quarterbacks so frequently. So I've really been mixing up, mixing
[4:34] Speaker 4: it up quite a bit. If you guys want to
[4:35] Speaker 4: check out a draft that I actually did today. This
[4:38] Speaker 4: is on Tuesday, we're recording this. I ended up liking it.
[4:41] Speaker 4: Did you did you watch that?
[4:42] Speaker 1: By chance?
[4:43] Speaker 3: I got about halfway through, honestly, I got to say.
[4:46] Speaker 3: My favorite part of the draft, and it's something I've
[4:47] Speaker 3: I've wanted to do this entire summer, but I've not
[4:50] Speaker 3: had the chance. Is the dude that went McBride Bowers
[4:54] Speaker 3: Week seventeen matchup. I think that is a very fun
[4:58] Speaker 3: galaxy brain tight end in the flex, Like, yeah, that's
[5:02] Speaker 3: the kind of thing that I wish I could make
[5:04] Speaker 3: that click, but it just never I never get the
[5:05] Speaker 3: chance to.
[5:06] Speaker 4: I think that that it's it's one of those things
[5:08] Speaker 4: that like I wouldn't do consistently, but I would do.
[5:11] Speaker 4: I think I said it on the stream, like I'll
[5:12] Speaker 4: try to do that maybe two or three times in
[5:15] Speaker 4: you know, my one to fifty that I'm doing, just
[5:18] Speaker 4: to have that exposure to those guys because obviously, like
[5:20] Speaker 4: you said, they play each other week seventeen. You also,
[5:23] Speaker 4: you know in those situations like I'm not the kind
[5:26] Speaker 4: of drafter that believes in sort of cannibalizing the one
[5:31] Speaker 4: position like that, and sort of like take like just
[5:34] Speaker 4: like holding on to the tight end advantage.
[5:36] Speaker 1: In that way.
[5:37] Speaker 4: You know, you could make the argument that in doing so,
[5:40] Speaker 4: that means that other people in your league are then
[5:42] Speaker 4: kind of chasing that position, which I get, and I understand.
[5:46] Speaker 4: The issue that I run into with that is that
[5:48] Speaker 4: you're almost doing some other teams more of a favor
[5:51] Speaker 4: because if they're the team that ends up getting you know,
[5:54] Speaker 4: Colson Lovelin or Tyler Warren, especially past adp or something,
[5:58] Speaker 4: then then they're sitting pretty. They're sitting fine because they
[6:01] Speaker 4: can still match that tight end production to a degree,
[6:03] Speaker 4: and so you know, you're you're almost like it's it's
[6:06] Speaker 4: like the people who hoard quarterbacks, you know, and want
[6:08] Speaker 4: to go that route because I think quarterback is a
[6:10] Speaker 4: little bit easier to wrap your head around. But they
[6:12] Speaker 4: hoard quarterbacks and they say, oh, well, I'm gonna like
[6:15] Speaker 4: destroy it this position. Sure you probably will, and then
[6:18] Speaker 4: other people are not going to have very good quarterback rooms,
[6:21] Speaker 4: and therefore you know they're not they're gonna have a
[6:23] Speaker 4: harder time advancing out of out of their pod. And
[6:27] Speaker 4: I just think it's just not an optimal way to
[6:29] Speaker 4: do things, just because once you if you.
[6:31] Speaker 1: Were to get out of the pod.
[6:32] Speaker 4: First off, you're not necessarily set up to be optimal,
[6:37] Speaker 4: you know, moving forward, you know in playoff weeks because
[6:40] Speaker 4: you have really weak running backs and wide receivers and
[6:42] Speaker 4: that's very important to be good at. And I think
[6:45] Speaker 4: people kind of galaxy bring that side too much. It's
[6:48] Speaker 4: it's more defensible in my opinion, at tight end because
[6:52] Speaker 4: you can flex the tight end right where quarterback. You
[6:56] Speaker 4: know this is this is the argument too against Josh
[6:59] Speaker 4: Allen early in Best Ball, in the third round in
[7:01] Speaker 4: Best Ball, is that you know I've heard, I've seen
[7:03] Speaker 4: the argument of well, Josh Allen has the highest ceiling
[7:06] Speaker 4: in fantasy football on a week week basis, and what
[7:08] Speaker 4: if he's the guy that you need in week fifteen, sixteen,
[7:11] Speaker 4: and seventeen. Sure, you could definitely make that argument, but
[7:14] Speaker 4: I would argue very strongly and very easily that there
[7:18] Speaker 4: are late round quarterbacks who can match Josh Allen's weekly
[7:20] Speaker 4: upside and a given we see it all the time.
[7:22] Speaker 4: I mean the team that I got fortieth last year
[7:25] Speaker 4: in the in the Millie had brock Perty in it,
[7:27] Speaker 4: and he was like, what do he score like forty
[7:29] Speaker 4: to forty five points in the in the championship, you know,
[7:32] Speaker 4: And so I don't think that it's as applicable to
[7:35] Speaker 4: the quarterback position as it would be at tight end,
[7:38] Speaker 4: where yeah, like Brock Bauers and Trey McBride.
[7:42] Speaker 1: They're weekly ceiling.
[7:43] Speaker 4: From a probability driven of course, like a Kyle Pitts
[7:46] Speaker 4: game can happen, or you know, you'll see a randomly
[7:48] Speaker 4: round tight end, but from just strictly like a probability
[7:51] Speaker 4: driven perspective, it's much more predictable that it would happen
[7:55] Speaker 4: with one of the elite tight ends as opposed to
[7:57] Speaker 4: one of the late round tight ends. And that that
[7:59] Speaker 4: dichotomy with the quarter position.
[8:01] Speaker 3: So you said you liked the draft after you were
[8:03] Speaker 3: in the eleven spot, after last night the night prior
[8:06] Speaker 3: not liking your.
[8:07] Speaker 2: Draft out of the eleven spot. So so what was
[8:09] Speaker 2: the difference there? Why'd you like this draft so much?
[8:11] Speaker 4: Yeah, I like this one. I ended up getting a
[8:14] Speaker 4: Minnesota stack. So I got Justin Jefferson at the one eleven,
[8:17] Speaker 4: which was a nice little fall, a little like a
[8:19] Speaker 4: slight fall, you know, I'll usually get like one oh nine,
[8:21] Speaker 4: one ten.
[8:22] Speaker 1: So I got Justin Jefferson.
[8:23] Speaker 4: There the problem in the one to eleven spot in
[8:25] Speaker 4: the one twelve is that you have to make a
[8:26] Speaker 4: decision as to which running back you're going to take.
[8:29] Speaker 4: If you do go wide receiver first, or you know,
[8:31] Speaker 4: you could maybe see de Lamb or Justin Jefferson falls,
[8:34] Speaker 4: but if they don't, then you know, I'm not really
[8:36] Speaker 4: taking Drake London in that area. I see Brock Bauers
[8:39] Speaker 4: fall too often into the more later parts of the
[8:41] Speaker 4: second round to really go Bauers. So the decision really
[8:44] Speaker 4: comes down to taking a running back, and I'm trying
[8:46] Speaker 4: to you know, I was really heavy on Chase Brown
[8:48] Speaker 4: earlier in uh in May, and so I have a
[8:51] Speaker 4: decent amount of Chase Brown. I'm not just clicking the
[8:54] Speaker 4: same guys over and over again. So I ended up
[8:56] Speaker 4: taking Mario and Hampton, and then with taking Mario and
[8:59] Speaker 4: hamon the nice party, Islad Mconkee often finds himself in
[9:02] Speaker 4: that three four turn area, so.
[9:03] Speaker 1: I got Lad.
[9:04] Speaker 4: So I started that Chargers stack a little bit, and
[9:07] Speaker 4: then I got Bashall Tuton and Parker Washington as a
[9:10] Speaker 4: jag stack.
[9:11] Speaker 1: And then I realized very quickly that they have the same.
[9:13] Speaker 4: Buy as the Chargers, so I couldn't double tab Justin
[9:17] Speaker 4: Herbert with Trevor Lawrence, which telaw almost made it back
[9:20] Speaker 4: to me again in the ninth round, which would have
[9:22] Speaker 4: been crazy because that's a huge value.
[9:24] Speaker 1: It was only two picks away.
[9:25] Speaker 4: But I got Justin Herbert, and then Jalen Warren also
[9:29] Speaker 4: fell to the late seventh, so the team was like
[9:31] Speaker 4: looking good from just like a CLV, you know, ADP
[9:34] Speaker 4: value perspective, and then I ended up getting Kyler, which
[9:37] Speaker 4: was really nice to get that Minnesota stack, and then
[9:39] Speaker 4: the rest of the draft I think kind of fell
[9:40] Speaker 4: into place. It was a good, strong, structural draft the
[9:44] Speaker 4: one that I did last night. From the eleventh spot,
[9:46] Speaker 4: it was just one of those drafts were like one
[9:48] Speaker 4: or two picks away from so many guys that would
[9:50] Speaker 4: have made it great. And then I kind of had
[9:52] Speaker 4: to force a Green Bay stack and I got Matthew Golden,
[9:55] Speaker 4: who I'm not like super super high on and I'm
[9:57] Speaker 4: not low one necessarily at his price, but I'm definitely
[10:00] Speaker 4: on high on he's a really bad market score two.
[10:02] Speaker 4: So it's just that kind of thing where where you know,
[10:04] Speaker 4: it fell into place a little bit more than what
[10:06] Speaker 4: I saw today. And really like today's draft, like getting
[10:10] Speaker 4: some of these values because there were some really weird
[10:12] Speaker 4: things going on in the front half of the draft,
[10:15] Speaker 4: like really weird stuff like the two three turn was
[10:19] Speaker 4: Josh Allen, Malik Neighbors, right, And so I hated that
[10:23] Speaker 4: I wasn't on that side of the board because usually
[10:25] Speaker 4: when you're on that side of the side of the
[10:27] Speaker 4: board where like weird things are happening, that's what we.
[10:29] Speaker 3: Can immediately poun your right, you don't get like the
[10:32] Speaker 3: wave of value, like the immediate exactly.
[10:36] Speaker 4: So like I knew that as guys would fall, because
[10:38] Speaker 4: guys were gonna fall if Moliku Neighbors and Josh Allen
[10:40] Speaker 4: were going a little bit earlier, but I wasn't gonna
[10:42] Speaker 4: benefit from that, probably because I would hit that wall.
[10:44] Speaker 4: But I think the biggest value was probably Jalen Warren.
[10:46] Speaker 4: He usually goes in that like six seven area. I
[10:48] Speaker 4: got him in the seven eight area, which which was
[10:50] Speaker 4: really nice. Then, like I said, I almost got Trevor
[10:52] Speaker 4: Lawrence even later. But yeah, check out that that draft.
[10:56] Speaker 4: You know see what I did. I think that from
[10:57] Speaker 4: like a structural perspective, it's what I tried to do.
[11:00] Speaker 4: You know, where I wasn't locked into an RB RB start.
[11:04] Speaker 4: I wasn't locked into any sort of particular strategy. It
[11:07] Speaker 4: just kind of fell into place, and I was thinking.
[11:09] Speaker 4: I do think in the eleven spot it's a lot
[11:11] Speaker 4: easier to think one pick ahead than another spots, just
[11:14] Speaker 4: because you can you can look at what the one
[11:17] Speaker 4: twelve is doing and know that, like in the one
[11:21] Speaker 4: twelve in this case, took Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow right,
[11:25] Speaker 4: so that like I'm like, oh, well, then I could
[11:27] Speaker 4: I could get Jalen Warren in this spot where I
[11:29] Speaker 4: was going to get Justin Herbert, because if this team
[11:32] Speaker 4: that drafted Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrows Justin Herbert, that's
[11:35] Speaker 4: just a bad beat, you know. That's just that's just
[11:36] Speaker 4: not something that I'm gonna predict or like think that
[11:39] Speaker 4: that someone's gonna be that irrational.
[11:40] Speaker 1: And they didn't, you know.
[11:41] Speaker 4: So I was able to push Justin Herbert a couple
[11:43] Speaker 4: of picks while still getting a running back, a player
[11:47] Speaker 4: in that upper tier. So I think that is the
[11:50] Speaker 4: advantage usually of like the ten eleven. But overall, I'm
[11:54] Speaker 4: not like in love with with that, you know, draft
[11:56] Speaker 4: slot in general, I don't know, I think, what do
[11:59] Speaker 4: you think the worst draft slot is? Do you have
[12:01] Speaker 4: Do you have any take on that, like maybe the
[12:02] Speaker 4: one ten, one oh nine.
[12:05] Speaker 3: Yeah, I do think towards the end of the first
[12:07] Speaker 3: round there is is a little bit worse because you
[12:10] Speaker 3: don't get the benefit of picking one of the elite
[12:12] Speaker 3: players right off of the top right. And this is
[12:15] Speaker 3: the pocket we talked about last year. What that beginning
[12:17] Speaker 3: of the second round where it's just kind of like
[12:21] Speaker 3: very flat until the third round, and you're just you're
[12:25] Speaker 3: making a bet that isn't very certain, right, so at
[12:30] Speaker 3: least you get to you can randomize a lot, right,
[12:32] Speaker 3: You can get a lot of exposure to a lot
[12:34] Speaker 3: of different players at the start of the second round.
[12:36] Speaker 3: But it doesn't feel like whenever you make that bet,
[12:38] Speaker 3: it doesn't feel like the best bet.
[12:40] Speaker 4: You know, well, it's because that's because that same tier
[12:42] Speaker 4: player is falling to the middle and late second round,
[12:44] Speaker 4: you know, and so you're not getting like a tier
[12:47] Speaker 4: up with a lot of those guys. And if you're
[12:49] Speaker 4: in like the one oh three, you know, obviously one
[12:51] Speaker 4: on one, one oh two you get one of the
[12:53] Speaker 4: running backs. But even in those spots, you know, you
[12:56] Speaker 4: you can get following values into the two h two
[12:59] Speaker 4: or to a eleven range, let's say, and you might
[13:01] Speaker 4: get like a brock Bowers or Dereck Henry all the
[13:03] Speaker 4: way down there at times. And then in the third
[13:06] Speaker 4: round you might still be able to get like Nico Collins,
[13:08] Speaker 4: you know, like there's still so like there's a and
[13:11] Speaker 4: then in the fourth round in that area you could
[13:13] Speaker 4: get a falling value out of the great wide receiver
[13:15] Speaker 4: tier in double tap there. So like to me, there's
[13:18] Speaker 4: there's if you're in the one o two, there are magical,
[13:21] Speaker 4: magical drafts that can happen in my opinion, from like
[13:23] Speaker 4: a tiering standpoint and projection standpoint. But then it's a
[13:26] Speaker 4: lot safer for those things that happen in like the
[13:28] Speaker 4: you know, one oh four to one oh five range
[13:30] Speaker 4: or so, and then once you get past you know,
[13:33] Speaker 4: like I like am and Ross Saint Brown a lot,
[13:36] Speaker 4: so I think that that's fine if if you want
[13:37] Speaker 4: to say one o eight or whatever, even one o seven.
[13:40] Speaker 1: But you know, once you get into that like one
[13:42] Speaker 1: oh nine to one eleven one twelve range.
[13:44] Speaker 3: What's the mistake someone before you can make that you
[13:47] Speaker 3: can capitalize on, like we are we pumping our fists
[13:50] Speaker 3: when Jonathan Taylor falls to us, like.
[13:53] Speaker 1: Now you're you're really hoping.
[13:54] Speaker 4: I think I think the big thing is that you're
[13:56] Speaker 4: hoping for a Justin Jefferson or Cedde Lamb to fall,
[14:01] Speaker 4: because that's the one way to really differentiate your build,
[14:05] Speaker 4: right because otherwise you're just going running back, running back,
[14:07] Speaker 4: and that's what most people are doing from that area
[14:09] Speaker 4: of the draft. And so you know, you're not you're
[14:12] Speaker 4: not able to differentiate. But if you're in like the
[14:14] Speaker 4: one oh nine and you get Justin Jefferson and then
[14:16] Speaker 4: Ceedee Lamb falls to the to the you know, middle
[14:19] Speaker 4: parts of the second or your second round pick, that's where, oh,
[14:22] Speaker 4: now I have a different type of build. So I'm
[14:23] Speaker 4: just gonna naturally have different combinations than someone else would have.
[14:26] Speaker 2: Let's get up some risers and followers.
[14:29] Speaker 1: Let's do it. Let's look at it.
[14:30] Speaker 3: Let's start with Rashid Shaheed exiting the offensive coordinator from Seattle,
[14:37] Speaker 3: so a new look offense this year up in the
[14:41] Speaker 3: Pacific Northwest. But people are starting to latch on to Shaheed.
[14:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, look, I mean I think that Shaheed's a really
[14:49] Speaker 4: good best ball pick right now, and I've I'm ahead
[14:52] Speaker 4: of him in my rankings versus the market at the moment,
[14:55] Speaker 4: he was almost He's not gonna be a late round
[14:57] Speaker 4: dart throw in.
[14:57] Speaker 1: The guide, but he's so close.
[14:59] Speaker 4: Like he's one of those players that I could easily
[15:00] Speaker 4: envision myself writing him up, you know, in future weeks
[15:03] Speaker 4: after the Draft Guide releases, and because I do update
[15:06] Speaker 4: the Guide every week. You know, if you look at
[15:07] Speaker 4: his peripherals and his usage last year after the trade,
[15:12] Speaker 4: not fantastic. But I also think that we need to
[15:15] Speaker 4: be realistic about what happened. You know, Like he was
[15:17] Speaker 4: traded mid season, He's in a new offense. Even if
[15:20] Speaker 4: he was familiar with the offense, he's still in a
[15:22] Speaker 4: new offense. I mean, it's a different kind of situation.
[15:24] Speaker 4: I think Seattle and we even saw in the playoffs,
[15:26] Speaker 4: like Seattle added Shahed not just because Tory Horton was
[15:29] Speaker 4: banged up and they didn't want to necessarily rely on
[15:31] Speaker 4: him in that role, but special teams and that was
[15:34] Speaker 4: a huge part. Like he played a huge role on
[15:38] Speaker 4: their Super Bowl run, right, So, like it was a
[15:40] Speaker 4: massively favorable move that Seattle made to get Shahed. But
[15:45] Speaker 4: we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that not only
[15:49] Speaker 4: has Shahed had like not only has he had like
[15:52] Speaker 4: crazy yards per route run seasons historically.
[15:55] Speaker 1: But we saw a nice shift also in Chris A.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Lave's target share after she Shehed left, which means Shaheed
[16:02] Speaker 4: was taking targets away in a you know, in a
[16:06] Speaker 4: way from one of the better wide receivers in the
[16:08] Speaker 4: game in Chris Alave. And so, you know, you bring
[16:11] Speaker 4: all that together. I also have become more bullish on
[16:15] Speaker 4: the Seahawks throwing the ball a little bit more this
[16:17] Speaker 4: year because we know statistically that defenses tend to regress
[16:22] Speaker 4: year over years. It's essentially gonna be very hard for
[16:24] Speaker 4: Seattle to be as good, not that they have a
[16:26] Speaker 4: bad defense, it's just to be hard for them to
[16:28] Speaker 4: be as good as they were last year defensively. And
[16:30] Speaker 4: so you bring all that together and you're like, yeah,
[16:32] Speaker 4: she Hed in a range of the draft that just
[16:34] Speaker 4: kind of sucks in general. Why not throw that dart
[16:37] Speaker 4: and go after him?
[16:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, Seattle best defense across the board. You look at
[16:41] Speaker 3: any EPA DVOA metric. I don't know if you heard that,
[16:45] Speaker 3: but must have fit a goal in the World Cup game.
[16:48] Speaker 3: But yeah, even if they dip down to like a
[16:50] Speaker 3: top five, top seven defense, that increases the number of
[16:54] Speaker 3: opportunities for the offense and situations where they just need
[16:57] Speaker 3: to score more. Right, So, where a team that jsn's
[17:01] Speaker 3: going off the board obviously in the first round, daring
[17:04] Speaker 3: Price in the sixth, and then no Seahawk goes off
[17:06] Speaker 3: the board until Darnold in the twelfth. Like, again, who's
[17:10] Speaker 3: gonna score, Who's going to gain yards? Like somebody has
[17:13] Speaker 3: to do something you would think you would think switching
[17:16] Speaker 3: to running back. Jordan Mason moving up in drafts right now.
[17:20] Speaker 4: So there was a report that came out this week
[17:22] Speaker 4: about how Jordan Mason is essentially going to be like
[17:26] Speaker 4: like he's he's ahead of Aaron Jones, let's say in the.
[17:29] Speaker 1: You know, from a depth start perspective.
[17:31] Speaker 4: The thing that I caution people with every year is
[17:34] Speaker 4: that fantasy football is a different game in the way
[17:37] Speaker 4: that we're scoring things versus what beat reporters will generally report.
[17:41] Speaker 4: They focus a lot on ground game work and not
[17:46] Speaker 4: the stuff that we necessarily care about, which is the
[17:48] Speaker 4: receiving work.
[17:49] Speaker 1: Like we we.
[17:50] Speaker 4: Are going to weigh receive I talk, I mean Brandon
[17:52] Speaker 4: Godola brought this up on the show that we did yesterday,
[17:56] Speaker 4: But running back target is like two two and a
[17:58] Speaker 4: half times as valuable as a running back at temp
[18:00] Speaker 4: right in fantasy football, And so a B reporter is
[18:03] Speaker 4: not thinking that way. But regardless, there is some steam
[18:08] Speaker 4: behind Jordan Mason in that backfield. And I gotta say, Rich,
[18:12] Speaker 4: as someone who faded Mason hard last.
[18:14] Speaker 1: Year, you know he was a player to avoid. I didn't.
[18:17] Speaker 4: I was not into Jordan Mason. I have never been
[18:19] Speaker 4: into Doord Mason because he's not a pass catcher. But
[18:22] Speaker 4: I think at his ADP. I mean I've drafted I
[18:25] Speaker 4: draft him today on my on that on that Minnesota
[18:28] Speaker 4: Stack team that I that I had, And the reason
[18:30] Speaker 4: for that is this is one of those profiles that
[18:32] Speaker 4: oddly is better in best ball despite him not being
[18:36] Speaker 4: a pass catching back. And the reason for that is
[18:38] Speaker 4: I think there's gonna be some production. It's like Chris Rodriguez.
[18:41] Speaker 4: I think there's gonna be some production there for those guys.
[18:44] Speaker 4: I just don't know if the ceiling case is gonna
[18:46] Speaker 4: be insane because we haven't seen them be pass catchers.
[18:49] Speaker 4: But I don't want the the way that I viewed
[18:52] Speaker 4: season long to sort of like overshadow how we should
[18:57] Speaker 4: be building best ball rosters, which is, get guaranteed points
[19:00] Speaker 4: in the later rounds, Like you want those guaranteed points,
[19:03] Speaker 4: even if it's not necessarily especially in a full PPR
[19:06] Speaker 4: platform like DraftKings, even if it's not necessarily a you know,
[19:10] Speaker 4: fifteen point throughout the season outcome for Jordan Mason, which
[19:13] Speaker 4: I would be shocked by if he's a twelve point
[19:16] Speaker 4: per game player, which I think is possible in this
[19:19] Speaker 4: environment with Kyler Murray and him being a goal line
[19:22] Speaker 4: back and if you look at that backfield in general,
[19:25] Speaker 4: if we're being objective, Aaron Jones is older.
[19:28] Speaker 1: Okay.
[19:29] Speaker 4: I love Aaron Jones, and I at the beginning of
[19:31] Speaker 4: the off season, you know, I was way higher. When
[19:34] Speaker 4: I first did my my first iteration my redraft rankings,
[19:37] Speaker 4: I had a big gap between Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
[19:39] Speaker 1: But the more that I've thought about it, the.
[19:41] Speaker 4: More I'm like, all right, Aaron Jones is not Aaron
[19:44] Speaker 4: Jones is not young anymore.
[19:45] Speaker 1: Right, He's definitely on the wrong side of the age curve.
[19:47] Speaker 4: And then they draft him on Clayborne, who is a
[19:51] Speaker 4: smaller you know, it's like in the one eighties from
[19:54] Speaker 4: a wait perspective, speedy back who catches, who can catch
[19:57] Speaker 4: passes out of the backfield, which is more of an
[20:00] Speaker 4: Aaron Jones duplicate as opposed to a Jordan Mason one.
[20:03] Speaker 4: And so my thought process here is that I think
[20:05] Speaker 4: Mason could walk away from this season with two hundred
[20:10] Speaker 4: rush attempts realistically, just given the way that this backfield
[20:13] Speaker 4: currently sits. So do I think his ceiling is like crazy? No,
[20:17] Speaker 4: But there are definitely builds like the one that I
[20:19] Speaker 4: had today where Jordan Mason gives me a nice floor
[20:23] Speaker 4: when I when I needed that floor. And so I
[20:26] Speaker 4: think where he goes in like the one twenty five
[20:29] Speaker 4: to one thirty range, like, I'm totally fine with taking
[20:32] Speaker 4: him there. Remember last year he was going like round seven.
[20:36] Speaker 4: Like it's a completely different math equation that we're doing
[20:39] Speaker 4: here for Jordan Mason. So I'm now in on Mason.
[20:43] Speaker 4: There's a chance that he hands up as a player
[20:44] Speaker 4: to target, even though in the in the draft guide,
[20:47] Speaker 4: because of all the reasons I just talked about, and
[20:49] Speaker 4: there are some instances I'm not saying that this is
[20:52] Speaker 4: the way that I generally draft, But if you're in
[20:55] Speaker 4: a deep league. You know, if you're in a league,
[20:56] Speaker 4: there's a lot of starting lineup spots and you just
[20:59] Speaker 4: need some product. I think Jordan Mason can be okay
[21:01] Speaker 4: and those in those situations.
[21:03] Speaker 3: So the gap is narrowing between him and Jones. Right now,
[21:06] Speaker 3: there are eight spots in ADP between Jones and Jordan Mason.
[21:11] Speaker 3: Mason up three spots, Aaron Jones down half a spot
[21:15] Speaker 3: week over week. Are there any scenarios with which you
[21:19] Speaker 3: would click Mason over Aaron Jones just like to randomize,
[21:24] Speaker 3: or are you clicking Jones pretty much over Mason in
[21:28] Speaker 3: these spots.
[21:29] Speaker 1: I don't have a strong opinion.
[21:30] Speaker 4: I think that I'm just playing the ADP game right, Like,
[21:33] Speaker 4: like when one of them goes off the board, I
[21:35] Speaker 4: will click the other one within the next pick if
[21:38] Speaker 4: I need to go running back in that scenario. You know,
[21:41] Speaker 4: if I have to choose one of them, I would
[21:44] Speaker 4: say I think Jones still probably has a higher ceiling
[21:47] Speaker 4: because of the pass catching and if if my build
[21:49] Speaker 4: kind of calls for that, I'd go that direction.
[21:51] Speaker 1: Like it wouldn't chuck me at all. If Jordan Mason's
[21:53] Speaker 1: two hundred carries this year is what this really comes
[21:55] Speaker 1: down to.
[21:55] Speaker 4: You're buying that volume in even on a full PPR platform.
[22:00] Speaker 4: Chris Rodriguez is the same deal, except Rodriguez has a
[22:04] Speaker 4: much bigger hill to climb and beat right with be
[22:09] Speaker 4: shall touton where Jordan Mason doesn't have that at all.
[22:12] Speaker 4: And yes, Jacksonville's offensive environment should be better than Minnesota's.
[22:16] Speaker 1: But if you're relatively bullish.
[22:17] Speaker 4: On Kyler and what Minnesota's offense can do, then I
[22:21] Speaker 4: think that you could just argue that this backfield in
[22:23] Speaker 4: general is a little bit undervalued.
[22:24] Speaker 1: You know that we should probably be getting them a
[22:27] Speaker 1: little bit more than we are.
[22:27] Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know how everyone else is drafting.
[22:29] Speaker 4: Maybe I should be getting them a little bit more
[22:31] Speaker 4: than I am. And that's what I've been doing over
[22:33] Speaker 4: the last two weeks or so, especially with Jordan Mason.
[22:37] Speaker 3: Let's talk about some followers and a guy who just
[22:40] Speaker 3: can't seem to put his phone down needs to be
[22:43] Speaker 3: live at all times. Brandon Ayuk down a full round
[22:48] Speaker 3: week over a week now into Round eighteen, so you
[22:52] Speaker 3: had been getting some exposure on Ayyuk. Are you spooked
[22:56] Speaker 3: by what is going on?
[22:58] Speaker 1: Yeah? I haven't drafted Ayuk and know week and a
[23:00] Speaker 1: half at this part.
[23:01] Speaker 4: Two weeks since since we last talked, basically, there was
[23:03] Speaker 4: a tweet from my sports update Ari on Twitter that
[23:07] Speaker 4: said forty nine Ers wide receiver Brandon Nyuk says he
[23:10] Speaker 4: won't be filing for reinstatement because he doesn't want to
[23:13] Speaker 4: do business with the team. Okay, under the scenario, and
[23:17] Speaker 4: by the way, I don't think Ayuk has an agent.
[23:19] Speaker 1: Is that is that right?
[23:20] Speaker 2: That sounds right?
[23:21] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that he's doing this without an agent. So,
[23:22] Speaker 4: I mean, you guys can fact check me on that.
[23:24] Speaker 4: Under this scenario, the forty nine Ers can leave him
[23:28] Speaker 4: on the left squad list. He would remain on the team,
[23:32] Speaker 4: but wouldn't count against the roster or receive any pay.
[23:35] Speaker 4: So Brandon Nyuk's out there on on Instagram being like,
[23:38] Speaker 4: I'm not gonna file for reinstatement because then I have
[23:41] Speaker 4: to do business with the forty nine ers and I
[23:43] Speaker 4: hate the forty nine ers, but that's literally.
[23:44] Speaker 1: The only way he can play football.
[23:46] Speaker 4: The very next Instagram post, he's like, all I want
[23:49] Speaker 4: to do is get back on the field.
[23:50] Speaker 1: It's like, bro, this is what you gotta do to
[23:52] Speaker 1: get back on the field. You gotta sign, you got
[23:54] Speaker 1: you gotta talk to the team.
[23:55] Speaker 3: You have to send one email to right just press
[23:58] Speaker 3: at forty nine ers dot com.
[24:00] Speaker 4: Yeah, and then all the drama with Jayden Daniels that's
[24:02] Speaker 4: gone on. I mean, part of me wants to believe
[24:05] Speaker 4: that it was staged and it was like a way
[24:07] Speaker 4: for something, you know, for the for the commanders to
[24:09] Speaker 4: get him cheaper, whatever the case may be.
[24:11] Speaker 1: I'm hoping that that's the case, but I don't think.
[24:13] Speaker 1: I don't know, man, the.
[24:14] Speaker 4: Way that Ayuk's been acting, I don't know if he
[24:16] Speaker 4: could think that, I mean, just be that thoughtful about,
[24:21] Speaker 4: you know, scheming something. So yeah, I mean like it's
[24:23] Speaker 4: a really crappy situation all around. I'm avoiding Ayuk right
[24:27] Speaker 4: now because before I'm like, I think he's gonna play,
[24:30] Speaker 4: I just don't know where whether that's gonna look like
[24:32] Speaker 4: I would honestly say there's a better chance to not at.
[24:34] Speaker 1: This point that he's gonna play football ever again, right.
[24:36] Speaker 4: Like, maybe it's probably like a fifty to fifty shot. Right,
[24:39] Speaker 4: Like we've seen this happen before. Deontay Johnson was not
[24:44] Speaker 4: as out in the open with all of this and
[24:46] Speaker 4: like Aaron Grievances and et cetera. And he's I mean,
[24:49] Speaker 4: look what happened to with his career, right, He's not
[24:51] Speaker 4: as good as Ayuk, but he's not a bad wide
[24:53] Speaker 4: receiver and he's out of the league essentially. So I'm
[24:57] Speaker 4: I'm very nervous about Ayuk, and so are my dynasties.
[25:00] Speaker 4: Were my dynasty bags?
[25:01] Speaker 3: My gosh, we're a couple burned feet and a cryotherapy
[25:05] Speaker 3: chamber away from the Antonio Brown trajectory.
[25:09] Speaker 1: Honestly, screw hard knocks. You just just follow Brandon Idy.
[25:12] Speaker 3: Why why not at least through like many episodes his
[25:18] Speaker 3: perhaps presumed future teammates. Bringing up Jalen, Jayden Daniels k
[25:22] Speaker 3: Tron Allen is another fall of the rookie running back
[25:25] Speaker 3: out of Washington down another four spots this week in
[25:27] Speaker 3: the eighteenth round.
[25:29] Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know if this is like I think
[25:31] Speaker 4: this could be the result of like the Rashad White
[25:33] Speaker 4: jor Cory Krofsky merrit wars that are going on right
[25:35] Speaker 4: now where people are like kind of staking a claim
[25:38] Speaker 4: on one of those guys, which, by the way, I'm
[25:40] Speaker 4: on team Rashad White.
[25:41] Speaker 1: Between those two JCM just literally has never been a
[25:44] Speaker 1: pass catcher.
[25:44] Speaker 4: He was not a pass catcher in college, he was
[25:45] Speaker 4: an older prospect, he was not a pass catcher last year.
[25:48] Speaker 4: And in this kind of scenario, I'm gonna lean towards
[25:51] Speaker 4: the pass catcher more. This isn't a situation in my opinion,
[25:54] Speaker 4: that's like Jordan Mason Aaron Jones, because Rashad Whites lie
[25:57] Speaker 4: younger than Aaron Jones, and I don't one ground game
[26:01] Speaker 4: work to cloud my judgment about how good or bad
[26:04] Speaker 4: a player is, which is what the argument always is
[26:06] Speaker 4: with Rashad White because there's a lot of variance in
[26:08] Speaker 4: volatility with rushing numbers. But Kate tron Allen, I still
[26:12] Speaker 4: think he's a decent dart because if you look at
[26:14] Speaker 4: day three running back hits over the last decade or so,
[26:17] Speaker 4: they all come from ambiguous backfields.
[26:19] Speaker 1: It just depends on how you want to define that.
[26:21] Speaker 4: But there are b one on their team is typically
[26:23] Speaker 4: drafted after RB thirty and that's what we're seeing you
[26:27] Speaker 4: in Washington. It's an ambiguous backfield. So I think you
[26:30] Speaker 4: can still throw that dart at k tron Allen. But
[26:32] Speaker 4: again this is another reason though, why you know if
[26:35] Speaker 4: you go back to the Minnesota comparison, they each have
[26:38] Speaker 4: Day three rookies attached to their backfields. Kate tron Allen
[26:41] Speaker 4: is more of the Jacory krossky Merit replacement Slash would
[26:45] Speaker 4: dig into his role because Kate tron Allen's an early
[26:47] Speaker 4: down bruiser and can still some goal line work, but
[26:50] Speaker 4: he's not much of a pass catcher, whereas Debon Claiborne
[26:53] Speaker 4: is more of the Aaron Jones archetype, right, And so
[26:55] Speaker 4: that's why I was more attracted to a guy like
[26:57] Speaker 4: Jordan Mason than I would be Jacory krossky Merit. And
[27:00] Speaker 4: so yeah, I still think though that that k tron
[27:03] Speaker 4: Allen is is an interesting click given that he's going
[27:05] Speaker 4: as late as he is.
[27:06] Speaker 3: And then we'll move to Carolina where Tuba Hubbard is
[27:09] Speaker 3: seeing a dip down two spots this week in a
[27:12] Speaker 3: more consequential seventh round.
[27:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, I've I've gotten him in the eighth at times,
[27:16] Speaker 4: Like that's when I'm that to me, that's the sweet
[27:18] Speaker 4: spot for him, Like if you know that he's going
[27:20] Speaker 4: to fall in drafts at times because of the Jonathan
[27:22] Speaker 4: Brooks love, which look, I've drafted a lot of Jonathan Brooks, I'm.
[27:25] Speaker 2: In, we're all hoping, we're all we're all open.
[27:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, right, But Cuba.
[27:31] Speaker 4: I've had some hero RB builds or even zero RB
[27:34] Speaker 4: builds where I draft Tuba because I do think that
[27:36] Speaker 4: there's a floor, uh with with Hubbard, you know, generally speaking.
[27:40] Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean, like, Cuba is more volatile than
[27:44] Speaker 4: what the mark, especially in season long when we I know,
[27:46] Speaker 4: this is the best ball show. But when you get
[27:48] Speaker 4: to your season long drafts and people are drafting off
[27:50] Speaker 4: a projection a lot more than they probably should.
[27:52] Speaker 1: Cuba is one.
[27:53] Speaker 4: Of those players where he's gonna look a lot better
[27:56] Speaker 4: from a projection standpoint than like versus it capturing his
[27:59] Speaker 4: act volatility. Like he's in a backfield where quite literally
[28:03] Speaker 4: last year, we saw this coaching staff be okay with
[28:07] Speaker 4: replacing him, you know, with with another running back that
[28:10] Speaker 4: was just playing better at the time, and you know,
[28:12] Speaker 4: Rico Dowdell cooled down a little bit down the stretch.
[28:15] Speaker 4: But if Jonathan Brooks plays well and he's a good
[28:18] Speaker 4: prospect and there's a lot of upside attached to that profile,
[28:22] Speaker 4: Chuba Hubbard can lose his job, It can lose a
[28:24] Speaker 4: big workload in that backfield because we've seen it. There's
[28:27] Speaker 4: no attachment. And I give the Panthers credit for what
[28:30] Speaker 4: they did last year, right, Like, Hubbard was not playing
[28:32] Speaker 4: as well as Rico Dowdell was and they made the switch,
[28:34] Speaker 4: and then when Dowdell started to play, that's when Hubbard's
[28:37] Speaker 4: you know, Hubbard was healthier and he was starting to
[28:39] Speaker 4: get more work and he looked a little bit better
[28:40] Speaker 4: down the stretch. Like that's what a hot hand approach
[28:43] Speaker 4: really should be. When coaches just say, oh, we're gonna
[28:46] Speaker 4: go the running back with the hot hand the most carries,
[28:49] Speaker 4: they're really just saying we're going to give the running
[28:50] Speaker 4: back we like the most the most carries. But Carolina
[28:53] Speaker 4: actually went with a hot hand approach, and because of that,
[28:55] Speaker 4: we should be open to that when we're drafting those
[28:57] Speaker 4: running backs in that backfield.
[28:59] Speaker 3: Yeah, when we have of an asset like Jonathan Brooks
[29:02] Speaker 3: who is so extremely volatile, it is not only hard
[29:07] Speaker 3: to project him, but in the same backfield somebody who
[29:11] Speaker 3: is likely to get some work, it's terribly difficult to
[29:14] Speaker 3: also project Tuba Hubbard, right, because if Brooks goes super Saiyan,
[29:18] Speaker 3: like you said, that eats into Schubert Hubbard's ability if Brooks,
[29:22] Speaker 3: if the injuries are just too much for him to sustain,
[29:25] Speaker 3: then all of a sudden, Chuba Hubbard becomes a value
[29:27] Speaker 3: here in the seventh round.
[29:28] Speaker 2: So just a very volatile asset.
[29:30] Speaker 4: Remember Hubbard was Hubbard was a fade for this show
[29:32] Speaker 4: last year, and it's because he was a fifth round pick.
[29:36] Speaker 4: And there is a significant, significant opportunity cost difference when
[29:40] Speaker 4: you're talking round five to round eight.
[29:42] Speaker 1: That's a large one, especially if you look at it
[29:45] Speaker 1: this year.
[29:45] Speaker 4: You know you're passing on like Courtland Sutton types or
[29:48] Speaker 4: Michael Wilson types or whatever. It's a huge, huge difference
[29:51] Speaker 4: versus like Christian Watson or some of these year two
[29:54] Speaker 4: running backs.
[29:55] Speaker 1: Like that's a big, big deal.
[29:56] Speaker 4: That's why, like Trube but to me is not really
[29:58] Speaker 4: a fade, just simply because of that overall. But anyway,
[30:02] Speaker 4: we have a guest for today's show. Rich If you
[30:05] Speaker 4: guys have been following Pete overs that's so you think
[30:07] Speaker 4: you can tout, then you have seen the guys from
[30:10] Speaker 4: the Toxic Tower on that show, one of them being
[30:15] Speaker 4: Best Ball Guy BBG or Eric whatever you want to
[30:17] Speaker 4: call him. Actually I asked him in this interview what
[30:20] Speaker 4: he wanted to be called, and he said, BBG's fine,
[30:22] Speaker 4: so we'll go with BBG. But he's from the Toxic Tower.
[30:25] Speaker 4: You probably saw him on, so you think you can tout.
[30:28] Speaker 4: He's got a YouTube channel of his own as well
[30:29] Speaker 4: at Best Ball Guy.
[30:31] Speaker 1: It was a great conversation.
[30:32] Speaker 4: We talked about what people might misunderstand going from Season
[30:36] Speaker 4: long to Best Ball, the importance of rankings, to the
[30:39] Speaker 4: discussion that we had last week. We talked about that
[30:41] Speaker 4: on the show in the interview some recent big name risers,
[30:45] Speaker 4: so much more. It was a great, great conversation. I
[30:48] Speaker 4: hope you guys enjoy it. So, without further ado, here's
[30:50] Speaker 4: my chat with BBG. All right, BBYG, we have a
[31:09] Speaker 4: lot of people that are kind of coming into the
[31:12] Speaker 4: draft game and the fantasy football game right now.
[31:15] Speaker 1: You know, we're post fourth of July.
[31:16] Speaker 4: This is usually the timeframe when people start getting into
[31:19] Speaker 4: it more. What do you think for people who are
[31:22] Speaker 4: maybe getting into, you know, dipping their toes into Best
[31:25] Speaker 4: Ball a little bit, what do you think folks get
[31:28] Speaker 4: wrong when thinking about Season long and then going into Best.
[31:31] Speaker 1: Ball and what are some of the pitfalls there?
[31:34] Speaker 5: Yeah, so I was imagining someone coming over from you know,
[31:39] Speaker 5: a redraft landscape into best Ball for the first time.
[31:42] Speaker 5: And one of the things that I think that people
[31:47] Speaker 5: need to realize about Best Ball is you're you're playing
[31:49] Speaker 5: a massive tournament here. That is really the big difference
[31:53] Speaker 5: here is you have these tens of thousands to hundred
[31:56] Speaker 5: of thousand person contests and essentially you cannot add and
[32:02] Speaker 5: drop players, right, That's the major difference with best Ball.
[32:05] Speaker 5: So you need to plan your teams to have not
[32:11] Speaker 5: only the fire power for the late season, which can
[32:15] Speaker 5: come sometimes from those you know, handcuff running backs, rookie
[32:19] Speaker 5: wide receivers, stuff like that, but you also need to
[32:21] Speaker 5: be careful about the fact that you can't add and
[32:24] Speaker 5: drop players. You need to also try to not take
[32:27] Speaker 5: zeros on your roster. So it's really this game of
[32:31] Speaker 5: building teams that don't have zeros but also yet have
[32:36] Speaker 5: upside baked into some of these profiles that can break
[32:39] Speaker 5: out late and give you that like late season hammer.
[32:42] Speaker 5: You really want to look down at a team in
[32:44] Speaker 5: Best Ball that advances through the regular season into Week
[32:46] Speaker 5: fifteen that has like, you know, these really fun rookies
[32:50] Speaker 5: that are recently breaking out or you do have the
[32:54] Speaker 5: you know, the Bucky Irving of twenty twenty four who
[32:56] Speaker 5: has taken over the backfield that you got in the
[32:58] Speaker 5: fifteenth round and is starting now on your roster.
[33:01] Speaker 6: That kind of thing.
[33:02] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I was thinking about this.
[33:04] Speaker 4: I was actually doing a live stream last week, and
[33:07] Speaker 4: we always hear the phrase better in best ball, right,
[33:10] Speaker 4: where like these players are better in a best ball
[33:12] Speaker 4: environment than they are in a season long environment. And
[33:15] Speaker 4: I think that when people to your point, I think
[33:17] Speaker 4: that the way that people think about that is almost
[33:20] Speaker 4: backwards because they often think, oh, I need like, of
[33:23] Speaker 4: course you need spiked.
[33:24] Speaker 1: Spiked ceilings and weekly ceilings and such.
[33:26] Speaker 4: But I also think that like they're not thinking about it,
[33:29] Speaker 4: like like for instance.
[33:30] Speaker 1: Chris Rodriguez, right, or Jordan Mason types, like those those
[33:34] Speaker 1: types of like.
[33:35] Speaker 4: Early down grinders where they're they're ceiling from a receiving perspective.
[33:39] Speaker 4: Isn't that that crazy? I don't really mind, like a
[33:41] Speaker 4: Jordan Mason is whatever. I mean, it's late enough that
[33:43] Speaker 4: I'm not going to really like care if someone like
[33:45] Speaker 4: has like a really hardcore stance in these guys, But realistically,
[33:49] Speaker 4: like a Jordan Mason type, I'm probably gonna like more
[33:52] Speaker 4: in a best ball environment than I am in a
[33:54] Speaker 4: season long environment because because there's going to just be
[33:58] Speaker 4: some production from those but we might not know when
[34:01] Speaker 4: that production is going to come. And so I think
[34:03] Speaker 4: that there's also like to your point of not taking
[34:05] Speaker 4: zeros like those players that we typically are like, oh,
[34:09] Speaker 4: I don't really care about that guy, because like even
[34:11] Speaker 4: in my draft guide every year, I'm just like, get
[34:13] Speaker 4: the guys that have ceiling. Only worry about ceiling, and
[34:15] Speaker 4: that's what you should be doing. But you actually do
[34:17] Speaker 4: have to think about the floor for these players and
[34:19] Speaker 4: not just draft you know, Nick Singleton over and over again,
[34:22] Speaker 4: because there's a chance that Singleton's is zero this year,
[34:25] Speaker 4: Like that's a very distinct possibility.
[34:26] Speaker 1: Not to say that he can't be something.
[34:28] Speaker 4: I still have drafted him, but you have to check
[34:30] Speaker 4: yourself a little bit and make sure that you're not
[34:33] Speaker 4: overweight on some of those players.
[34:34] Speaker 1: That's the way that you kind of see things too.
[34:36] Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, and I'm fine if you want to
[34:39] Speaker 5: be overweight on Nick Singleton, like call your shot on
[34:42] Speaker 5: these laid round guys, of course. But absolutely, I think
[34:45] Speaker 5: every single year, the staple of having good advance rates
[34:49] Speaker 5: are the middle round running back hits, like they could
[34:53] Speaker 5: be Jordan Mason, Chris Rodriguez this year, I mean we
[34:55] Speaker 5: saw it with like Etn. I don't know if we
[34:58] Speaker 5: want to say eight Chan Junior, but yeah, you know
[35:00] Speaker 5: Etn Javonte Williams last year. These guys were the same
[35:04] Speaker 5: exact bets, right, kind of grinder backs on kind of
[35:08] Speaker 5: ambiguous backfields away, I guess those Yeah, they are ambiguous. Yeah,
[35:12] Speaker 5: I would say Tooton is an ambiguous you know player
[35:15] Speaker 5: right now. So yeah, it's like these guys can be
[35:18] Speaker 5: massive advance rate pieces, so absolutely, But and then the
[35:22] Speaker 5: same in the same right, you can still mix in
[35:24] Speaker 5: a really fun upside pick like a Nick Singleton at
[35:27] Speaker 5: the end of your drafts.
[35:29] Speaker 4: Yeah, so I always try to like balance the all right,
[35:32] Speaker 4: how how risky was I in some of these profiles
[35:35] Speaker 4: earlier on in terms of getting guys that might be
[35:38] Speaker 4: zeros And then you know, late like there was a
[35:40] Speaker 4: draft I drafted Zach Charbonnet, which I haven't gotten a
[35:42] Speaker 4: lot of Sharbonet, but it was a you know, he
[35:44] Speaker 4: fell whatever. And then I was contemplating, I was in
[35:46] Speaker 4: chat and actually Emo was watching, so shout out toxic tower.
[35:50] Speaker 4: But Emos was watching the stream and it was the
[35:53] Speaker 4: twentieth round, and I'm sitting there and I'm like, should
[35:55] Speaker 4: I go running back or wide receiver? And Emo is like,
[35:57] Speaker 4: you should go running And he made a great point,
[35:59] Speaker 4: like because I let the chat kind of vote which
[36:02] Speaker 4: direction I go in, and he's like, you gotta get
[36:04] Speaker 4: running back because we can't assume that Sharboney, you know,
[36:07] Speaker 4: is healthy.
[36:08] Speaker 1: You know, he could be a zero realistically.
[36:10] Speaker 4: And so I ended up going running back in that case,
[36:12] Speaker 4: just to get a little bit more beef, you know,
[36:14] Speaker 4: at the position after potentially taking some of those zeros.
[36:17] Speaker 4: All right, With that being With all that being said,
[36:20] Speaker 4: what's one of the more overlooked thoughts or strategies you
[36:24] Speaker 4: think that more people should be aware of?
[36:26] Speaker 1: With best Ball?
[36:27] Speaker 5: Yeah, so this one, I wanted to relate it to
[36:31] Speaker 5: my DK Millie Maker Finals team last year, and I'm
[36:35] Speaker 5: just gonna say it's unique pairings, I think last year
[36:39] Speaker 5: in this this sometimes the unique pairings come in two ways.
[36:42] Speaker 5: Sometimes it's a forced unique pairing where I go gent
[36:47] Speaker 5: at the turn, but I pull up Nico Collins or
[36:49] Speaker 5: something like something where the ADPs don't line up whatsoever,
[36:53] Speaker 5: or if you're in a spot. And this actually happened
[36:55] Speaker 5: to me in a draft last night. But last year
[36:57] Speaker 5: I was able to go aman raw and then Puka
[37:00] Speaker 5: fell back to me. I don't remember if this was
[37:02] Speaker 5: during the Matt Stafford back problem kind of thing, but
[37:05] Speaker 5: the Amanra Puka combo last year accelerated that entire team
[37:10] Speaker 5: into the finals.
[37:11] Speaker 6: So I think having that.
[37:13] Speaker 5: Unique pairing can be a big lever to pull once
[37:16] Speaker 5: you get to the finals. So and this is kind
[37:21] Speaker 5: of a there's two ways to think about this, right
[37:23] Speaker 5: you can either force the unique pairing, or if you're
[37:26] Speaker 5: in the middle rounds, like if you get picked six
[37:29] Speaker 5: through nine, kind of you can almost go off of
[37:32] Speaker 5: the top of ADP. And last night I was doing
[37:35] Speaker 5: a Milli maker and I got Amanra at nine and
[37:39] Speaker 5: or ten, and then Lamb fell all the way back
[37:42] Speaker 5: to me, And in my head, I was like, that
[37:44] Speaker 5: is the exact almost the exact same feeling is how
[37:47] Speaker 5: it felt when Puka fell back to me with Amanra
[37:49] Speaker 5: on that team that got me there. So I would
[37:52] Speaker 5: say that or one other thing would be winning the
[37:56] Speaker 5: flex And I think this month might be more actionable.
[38:00] Speaker 5: But I think I think people take quarterback and tight
[38:03] Speaker 5: end too early, to be honest with you, and I
[38:05] Speaker 5: think grabbing the strongest possible wide receiver running backs oftentimes
[38:12] Speaker 5: make the strongest teams winning the flex. Those those those
[38:16] Speaker 5: two positions up at the top of the board, those
[38:20] Speaker 5: guys have the best chance of breaking out. Whereas you
[38:23] Speaker 5: can find later round quarterbacks, later round tight ends that
[38:28] Speaker 5: can be the big hits for the season.
[38:30] Speaker 4: So when you when you talk about unique combos and
[38:32] Speaker 4: specifically with the Millie, is that something that you're doing
[38:35] Speaker 4: immediately now or are you waiting maybe until like August
[38:38] Speaker 4: to make sure that ADP's settled.
[38:40] Speaker 1: A little bit.
[38:40] Speaker 6: I'm waiting till August.
[38:42] Speaker 5: Great question. Yeah, definitely waiting till August. We know news
[38:45] Speaker 5: can move stuff around. I would say maybe, you know,
[38:50] Speaker 5: if you're running, if you're doing all one hundred and fifty,
[38:53] Speaker 5: you know you get that inch during the summer, you
[38:56] Speaker 5: know it mix it up a little bit because you
[38:58] Speaker 5: don't think Nico Collins is going to move anywhere or whatever.
[39:01] Speaker 5: But as we know, guys get in legal trouble, they
[39:04] Speaker 5: get injured. You know, there's not really too many reasons
[39:08] Speaker 5: why guys rise all that much, but they can definitely fall,
[39:12] Speaker 5: So I do like to wait till August. I think
[39:14] Speaker 5: doing the majority of my expensive drafts, I like to
[39:17] Speaker 5: do them in August in general.
[39:19] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, do you find another thing that I and
[39:22] Speaker 4: this is completely like it's kind of related.
[39:24] Speaker 1: But if you get that like amen, ra ceedee, lambs.
[39:27] Speaker 4: Start okay, and you're like you're like, oh, this is sick,
[39:30] Speaker 4: Like this could go really really well, and like let's
[39:32] Speaker 4: say round three falls into place too, do you find
[39:36] Speaker 4: yourself and this is a completely subjective, opinionated thing, like
[39:38] Speaker 4: I don't think there's a real answer. Maybe you feel
[39:40] Speaker 4: like there is a real answer, But do you feel
[39:42] Speaker 4: like when you get a start like that, you then
[39:45] Speaker 4: force the issue and just get your favorite plays from
[39:48] Speaker 4: then on out because you really want that lineup to
[39:51] Speaker 4: like like you're like, all right, I already hit the
[39:53] Speaker 4: jackpot early on with these first three rounds. I'm just
[39:56] Speaker 4: gonna get the dudes that I think are gonna hit
[39:58] Speaker 4: because obviously we have our favorites, right, I'm just gonna
[40:00] Speaker 4: get the dudes that I think are gonna hit. Therefore,
[40:03] Speaker 4: this could just be the lineup that that I'm gonna
[40:06] Speaker 4: sort of like hold on to and say this could
[40:08] Speaker 4: be the one that that brings it home this year.
[40:11] Speaker 6: Definitely.
[40:11] Speaker 5: I mean I think more through a like a structure standpoint.
[40:17] Speaker 5: So I'm like, Okay, I have almanrae CD Lamb, I
[40:20] Speaker 5: have the wide receiver one and two on the season, Like,
[40:23] Speaker 5: think about it like that. So then then I start
[40:26] Speaker 5: building my draft backwards. In my head, it's like, this
[40:29] Speaker 5: team obviously is gonna need running back points. Let's it's like,
[40:32] Speaker 5: let's just make sure this team advances because you don't
[40:34] Speaker 5: screw this up because people don't have Almanra Lamb in
[40:38] Speaker 5: the finals. They like that that combo is so rare
[40:41] Speaker 5: and unique. Like I said, it's such a big lever
[40:43] Speaker 5: that I'm pulling that. And you know, maybe it is
[40:46] Speaker 5: different on DraftKings. Maybe that is common. Sorry if it's not,
[40:49] Speaker 5: I've only done fifteen DK Millie Makers, but.
[40:51] Speaker 4: No, no, look it's not. It's not a very super
[40:53] Speaker 4: super common thing. I mean, like Lamb will fall at
[40:56] Speaker 4: times just because people on DK will be pretty wild,
[40:59] Speaker 4: you know, okay, once to turn, but it's not I
[41:02] Speaker 4: would not call it a common start.
[41:04] Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, well I would just say once you get it,
[41:06] Speaker 5: just make sure you can advance it. From there, So
[41:08] Speaker 5: back to let's make sure we get running back points.
[41:10] Speaker 5: I think in the third I went with maybe ETN
[41:16] Speaker 5: or something, just trying to get.
[41:17] Speaker 6: Some starting running back points like that.
[41:19] Speaker 5: Yeah, like ETN scat a bow in the fourth whatever,
[41:22] Speaker 5: But yeah, that's all I'm thinking through. I'm also thinking,
[41:25] Speaker 5: like it would be super ideal to get Dak or
[41:27] Speaker 5: Golf on this team, maybe even both, like just fully
[41:31] Speaker 5: commit to those two offenses. But that's really all I'm
[41:34] Speaker 5: thinking is, let's let's get this team to the two
[41:37] Speaker 5: week fifteen where no one has this combo and I'm
[41:40] Speaker 5: gonna have it.
[41:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, let's not screw it up. And I think
[41:43] Speaker 4: like it's it's also just like, let's make sure we
[41:46] Speaker 4: don't get screwed at quarterback, right and like just like
[41:48] Speaker 4: reach a little bit just to make sure that when
[41:51] Speaker 4: that quarterback run inevitably happens, that we don't screw ourselves over.
[41:55] Speaker 1: Which is my gosh, just a side rant.
[41:57] Speaker 4: I had Puoka and Devonte last night, and someone took
[42:01] Speaker 4: naked Stafford way above ADP.
[42:03] Speaker 1: And it's the most tilting thing on the planet.
[42:06] Speaker 6: It is, it absolutely is.
[42:07] Speaker 5: And to speak to your point, someone took Dak one
[42:10] Speaker 5: pick before me with no with no cowboy just on
[42:14] Speaker 5: that team in the seventh round.
[42:16] Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, although the great Adam Adam Levitan
[42:20] Speaker 4: has noted that. As tilting as those instances are, it's
[42:23] Speaker 4: great that we're drafting with people that do that because
[42:25] Speaker 4: that means that that rooms aren't a sharp right, So
[42:28] Speaker 4: it's yeah, when you think about that, it stings, it sucks,
[42:31] Speaker 4: But then you know, you fall back on that idea
[42:34] Speaker 4: and you're like, all right, I'll take it over the
[42:36] Speaker 4: long run.
[42:36] Speaker 6: Yeah, it's my earlier point.
[42:38] Speaker 5: It's also like it opened up this ability to be like,
[42:41] Speaker 5: all right, it's still the seventh round, Like, let me
[42:43] Speaker 5: take another usable running back here. I can get Jalen Warren,
[42:46] Speaker 5: who might be this year's Kenneth Gainwell on this thin instead,
[42:49] Speaker 5: So let's go that route one hundred percent.
[42:51] Speaker 4: I had this discussion last week on becoming a best
[42:54] Speaker 4: ball brow with Rich Ryan to open up the show,
[42:57] Speaker 4: and I want to hear your thoughts because you know,
[42:59] Speaker 4: in fantasy football space, especially as touts and as analysts,
[43:03] Speaker 4: everyone wants rankings and we know that, and so we
[43:05] Speaker 4: produce them and we you know, give them out and whatever.
[43:09] Speaker 1: And in my opinion with Best Ball.
[43:12] Speaker 4: My opinion was Bestball rankings are generally probably a little
[43:16] Speaker 4: bit overrated in the way that the average player looks
[43:20] Speaker 4: at them. Would you agree with that statement or do
[43:22] Speaker 4: you think that they might be underrated.
[43:25] Speaker 6: I wouldn't say they're underrated.
[43:26] Speaker 5: I do think they can be useful though, because I
[43:29] Speaker 5: think what rankings allow you to do is see who
[43:33] Speaker 5: people are really out on more so that people are into.
[43:36] Speaker 5: I think that's a good way to look at it,
[43:38] Speaker 5: because you know, I don't really want to take a
[43:40] Speaker 5: guy fifteen spots ahead adp if I don't have to,
[43:42] Speaker 5: especially in the early rounds, like we can push the
[43:45] Speaker 5: guy to his regular spot most of the time.
[43:47] Speaker 6: But like.
[43:51] Speaker 5: You know, I've seen rankings that worked really well. I
[43:53] Speaker 5: think like twenty twenty four, Michael Pittman was like, you know,
[43:58] Speaker 5: a fourth round pick, but a lot of people's rankings
[44:01] Speaker 5: had him as like a seventh round pick. It's like, okay,
[44:03] Speaker 5: that's a good like full fade, Like that's you know,
[44:06] Speaker 5: So I think rankings work really well for fading, and
[44:10] Speaker 5: I think they work well for maybe later round guys
[44:13] Speaker 5: that you should be getting a bag of.
[44:15] Speaker 6: Yeah, really is kind of view them but he should
[44:18] Speaker 6: be tiered.
[44:18] Speaker 5: If they could be perfect, they would be tiered, right,
[44:21] Speaker 5: Because it's like I try to do rankings one time
[44:23] Speaker 5: and I was just like, well, yeah, I have Hampton
[44:27] Speaker 5: like or whatever. You know, It's like, yeah, I like
[44:30] Speaker 5: Hampton over Derrick Henry. But at the same time, I'm like, dude,
[44:33] Speaker 5: Derrick Henry could bury you.
[44:34] Speaker 4: So yes, yeah, right, it's a fifty one to forty
[44:36] Speaker 4: nine type thing if yact.
[44:38] Speaker 5: But how do I articulate that in this ranking that
[44:40] Speaker 5: you're downloading?
[44:41] Speaker 4: Yes, yes, I mean tiers are huge for my process
[44:44] Speaker 4: for sure, especially like the fourth round wideouts this year,
[44:49] Speaker 4: Like they're all to me.
[44:50] Speaker 1: There's just so much upside.
[44:51] Speaker 4: Like I am a like a Luther Burden Truther, so
[44:54] Speaker 4: I'm getting him every time he falls for the most part. Right,
[44:56] Speaker 4: But like regardless, like I U, I don't have like
[45:01] Speaker 4: insanely strong opinions. My opinion is, if you're in like
[45:03] Speaker 4: an auction draft for season long, just just completely gobble
[45:08] Speaker 4: up a lot of those dudes and and don't worry
[45:10] Speaker 4: about the early run guys, because you can just get
[45:12] Speaker 4: so much value with that that tier of wide receiver.
[45:15] Speaker 4: A question that I get very frequently by best ball
[45:18] Speaker 4: bro Listeners is how to determine exposure to players.
[45:22] Speaker 1: Do you personally set a hard cap.
[45:24] Speaker 4: Do you think that there's like a general like formulaic
[45:27] Speaker 4: way to do this or do you think it's more
[45:29] Speaker 4: of like a case by case how you are individually
[45:31] Speaker 4: from a risk tolerance perspective.
[45:33] Speaker 5: Well, it's definitely a risk tolerance thing, right, Like if
[45:36] Speaker 5: you and like you know, this is one of those
[45:39] Speaker 5: years that you could do something like this, Like if
[45:42] Speaker 5: you wanted thirty percent Puka Nakua because you think he's
[45:45] Speaker 5: the best wide receiver in the NFL and you want
[45:47] Speaker 5: to have that lever on most of your teams.
[45:50] Speaker 6: You can take him at.
[45:50] Speaker 5: The one oh one, one oh two, one oh three,
[45:52] Speaker 5: one oh four, so you can you can do something
[45:54] Speaker 5: like that. That is crazy risk tolerance though, because you're
[45:57] Speaker 5: fading gives Beijan Jamar chase, right. So the main thing
[46:00] Speaker 5: I would say is, once again, I think I think
[46:03] Speaker 5: having in the early rounds, I think for me personally,
[46:07] Speaker 5: it's about a twenty percent cap on certain players I
[46:11] Speaker 5: think would be realistic if I had to guestimate. But
[46:14] Speaker 5: I think as you get later into the drafts, I
[46:16] Speaker 5: think I think if you believe in a Jeremy Bernard
[46:20] Speaker 5: or something like that. With these lower cost guys, you know,
[46:23] Speaker 5: back to that auction thing. These guys only cost you
[46:25] Speaker 5: a dollar or two. So if they flop, who cares.
[46:28] Speaker 6: Kind of a thing.
[46:28] Speaker 5: But if you really believe in them, yeah, take them
[46:30] Speaker 5: on half your teams if you want. It's not going
[46:32] Speaker 5: to kill you, even if they're a zero. But if
[46:35] Speaker 5: if you have a full stance on whatever, I don't
[46:39] Speaker 5: even know you're taking Rashie Rice in the second round
[46:41] Speaker 5: every time and he gets hurt or whatever, like, yeah,
[46:44] Speaker 5: there goes most of your season.
[46:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, do you have Do you have like how
[46:49] Speaker 4: many guys over twenty percent? Do you think you'll be
[46:51] Speaker 4: at this year like or per season, like just.
[46:54] Speaker 1: Just generally at all positions? Yeah, yeah probably.
[47:00] Speaker 6: Or like two tight ends, three or four.
[47:03] Speaker 5: It's probably like almost ten, So not like a crazy amount,
[47:06] Speaker 5: but yeah, that's pretty standard for me.
[47:08] Speaker 6: I do build, you know, I do.
[47:11] Speaker 5: I definitely believe that this This is such a crazy
[47:14] Speaker 5: game of variants and stuff, so I don't course, I
[47:16] Speaker 5: don't flag plant too much, but I have like a
[47:20] Speaker 5: grouping of guys that I really like. At the end
[47:22] Speaker 5: of drafts, and I'll have, you know, a nice twenty
[47:24] Speaker 5: percent of all of them or whatever.
[47:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
[47:27] Speaker 4: There have been some players recently overrun DraftKings that have
[47:31] Speaker 4: been steamed up a good bit in ADP, and I
[47:34] Speaker 4: want to go through them. There's four guys I want
[47:35] Speaker 4: to talk through and hear your take on them. The
[47:38] Speaker 4: first one is Jay Flowers, who you know, a month
[47:41] Speaker 4: ago you could get pretty frequently in round four or
[47:43] Speaker 4: at least at the three four turn.
[47:45] Speaker 1: But now he goes at the two three turns sometimes.
[47:47] Speaker 1: I mean people will bring him up.
[47:48] Speaker 6: There.
[47:48] Speaker 1: Are you in or out on Zay this year?
[47:50] Speaker 6: Yeah?
[47:51] Speaker 5: I know, I mean I've definitely seen that man. I
[47:55] Speaker 5: he I'm like, I want to say neutral because he's
[47:57] Speaker 5: such a good talent. I love Decklan Doyle coming over
[48:01] Speaker 5: to the Ravens offense. I think we're gonna get like
[48:03] Speaker 5: this new revamped Lamar jackson S season could be an
[48:07] Speaker 5: MVP type season. But at the end of the day,
[48:11] Speaker 5: I mean, we still have Derek Henry scoring most of
[48:13] Speaker 5: the touchdowns. You have Lamar rushing in the touchdowns. You
[48:16] Speaker 5: have Mark Andrews who's a red zone threat. They do
[48:18] Speaker 5: bring in some competition. I would just be hesitant at
[48:21] Speaker 5: these prices. One thing that happens in Best Ball every
[48:24] Speaker 5: single year is sometimes T Higgins and Jalen Watta will
[48:28] Speaker 5: be like two three turn picks, and DeVonta Smith will
[48:30] Speaker 5: be too, and then they fall down to the.
[48:32] Speaker 6: Fourth round, late fourth round.
[48:34] Speaker 5: Like these guys move up and down the board really
[48:36] Speaker 5: heavily based on how they performed the prior year. And
[48:40] Speaker 5: Flowers did have a great twenty twenty five season. But
[48:43] Speaker 5: I would say I like him as an upside play
[48:46] Speaker 5: or like a like a weekly upside play, but as
[48:49] Speaker 5: a season long advance rate piece, I actually think it's
[48:52] Speaker 5: probably not that strong because I don't really I don't
[48:57] Speaker 5: personally see how he can go too much higher than
[48:59] Speaker 5: what he did last year. I think he has to
[49:00] Speaker 5: kind of repeat what he did last year to be
[49:04] Speaker 5: viable with that price.
[49:05] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean to me, it's like I I almost
[49:08] Speaker 4: feel like like that some of the fourth round picks
[49:10] Speaker 4: are just as good as the third round picks, Like
[49:12] Speaker 4: like it's it's there's just not such a significant so
[49:15] Speaker 4: I can like understand pulling him up. But I yeah,
[49:18] Speaker 4: I mean like there's definitely especially like the touchdown stuff
[49:20] Speaker 4: because he's not been an end zone threat, Like he
[49:22] Speaker 4: doesn't get any end zone targets, doesn't get any red
[49:24] Speaker 4: zone targets. You gotta hope that it changes. And I'm
[49:27] Speaker 4: higher than the market on Zay in general this year.
[49:29] Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean like there's definitely some like red
[49:32] Speaker 4: flag type stuff, you know, with his profile overall.
[49:34] Speaker 1: Let's let's move on to AJ Brown, who went from
[49:38] Speaker 1: being a.
[49:40] Speaker 4: Like mid third round pick often to then being traded,
[49:43] Speaker 4: which we all knew was gonna happen. Like I wish
[49:46] Speaker 4: I would have gotten way more. I did not read
[49:48] Speaker 4: that room well at all, even though I knew it
[49:50] Speaker 4: was coming.
[49:51] Speaker 1: Like I knew that he was going to rise a
[49:53] Speaker 1: little bit.
[49:53] Speaker 4: I just didn't expect him to rise to sometimes the
[49:56] Speaker 4: early second round from that third round price.
[49:59] Speaker 1: So are you enter out on AJ Brown right now?
[50:02] Speaker 5: It's so weird you think the market bakes it in
[50:04] Speaker 5: and they never do. They never do, So I yeah,
[50:08] Speaker 5: I did luckily grab a ton of AJ Brown while
[50:12] Speaker 5: I could. He's, yeah, the second round pick, and I
[50:14] Speaker 5: think I'm in. I want to find a guy that
[50:17] Speaker 5: I like enough to break up that running back cluster.
[50:20] Speaker 5: And I saw him at ADP sixteen when I did
[50:22] Speaker 5: that Millimaker last night, and you know, I was like,
[50:25] Speaker 5: I think it makes sense. I think you lose to
[50:27] Speaker 5: Von Diggs. I think Drake May is one of the
[50:30] Speaker 5: best passing quarterbacks in the NFL, hands down, and I
[50:34] Speaker 5: think the target volume could be there, the efficiency of
[50:37] Speaker 5: the offense could be there. And you know, I do
[50:40] Speaker 5: have this fundamental belief that people are taking too much
[50:44] Speaker 5: early running back this season. I think, so pulling these
[50:48] Speaker 5: these strong wide receiver levers once again, I do think
[50:51] Speaker 5: is a is a fine option. It's your point about like,
[50:54] Speaker 5: you know, people getting him in the third before and
[50:56] Speaker 5: now he's in the second. I don't think that really
[50:58] Speaker 5: matters too much on the you know what, maybe ten
[51:02] Speaker 5: to fifteen percent of the contest was drafted when he
[51:04] Speaker 5: was a third round pick. And also he probably wasn't
[51:07] Speaker 5: falling to the late third. So all the teams that
[51:10] Speaker 5: have like, you know, a gentee starter or a CD
[51:12] Speaker 5: LAMB start probably don't have AJ Brown on them for
[51:15] Speaker 5: the most part.
[51:16] Speaker 4: So yeah, I was also I also think like when
[51:18] Speaker 4: it comes to that kind of thing, and I know
[51:20] Speaker 4: that people have stronger opinions than I do on this,
[51:22] Speaker 4: but I also think, like when AJ Brown had a
[51:26] Speaker 4: decreased cost when he was a third round pick. At
[51:28] Speaker 4: that point in time, we also didn't necessarily have as
[51:31] Speaker 4: much information as what we're going to have in August
[51:33] Speaker 4: to like boost up some other players, So like you
[51:35] Speaker 4: really have to have had I mean, look, you can
[51:37] Speaker 4: you can draft some crazy teams in May, right, like
[51:39] Speaker 4: you can you can draft some crazy teams in early June.
[51:43] Speaker 4: I get all of that, but I don't want to
[51:44] Speaker 4: overstate what that means because you you you have to
[51:47] Speaker 4: actually do that, and it's not the easiest thing in
[51:49] Speaker 4: the world, and there's some luck involved right in doing that.
[51:52] Speaker 1: So it's not the easiest thing in the world to do. So.
[51:55] Speaker 4: Admittedly with AJ Brown, like I'm not against drafting him,
[51:59] Speaker 4: I often am gravitating towards the running backs. But to
[52:02] Speaker 4: your point, I'm trying hard to differentiate my my structures,
[52:08] Speaker 4: my roster construction this year because a lot of people
[52:11] Speaker 4: are just kind of like an autopilot just going like
[52:14] Speaker 4: RBRB in that area of the draft, and that that
[52:16] Speaker 4: I think is the way to not do.
[52:18] Speaker 1: It right is to just to get AJ Brown.
[52:20] Speaker 5: So and I don't want it to be overlooked, like
[52:22] Speaker 5: AJ Brown could have one hundred and sixty targets this season, right,
[52:26] Speaker 5: they really could feed him and he's he has not
[52:29] Speaker 5: slowed down whatsoever in that Mett. I think people are
[52:31] Speaker 5: really traumatized from the Eagles experience with him.
[52:34] Speaker 4: Oh yes, yes, you're seeing it with with Jalen Hurts,
[52:37] Speaker 4: ADP and stuff right now.
[52:38] Speaker 6: That's what is crazy too. It is way too cheap.
[52:41] Speaker 6: He's way too cheap.
[52:42] Speaker 5: Like I understand if you don't like that he doesn't
[52:44] Speaker 5: throw over the middle of the field or whatever.
[52:46] Speaker 6: But take Jalen Hurts in the seventh round when you
[52:49] Speaker 6: see him.
[52:49] Speaker 1: Agreed, how about Bashall Tuton?
[52:53] Speaker 4: He's rising a little bit because of the Chris Rodriguez stuff,
[52:56] Speaker 4: are you? I mean, I feel like this is the
[52:57] Speaker 4: great divide of the of fantasy football in twenty twenty.
[53:01] Speaker 1: Are you in or out on Bashall?
[53:02] Speaker 5: I'm I want to be in, but I'm kind of
[53:06] Speaker 5: out for the most part. I mean, I'm looking at
[53:08] Speaker 5: Trevion Henderson, Quinn, Shawn Judkins, Bucky Irving, there's even another
[53:13] Speaker 5: DeAndre Swift. All these guys go right around where he goes,
[53:17] Speaker 5: and I prefer all of those guys to him. So
[53:19] Speaker 5: it's gonna be hard for me to get to Baychell Tuton.
[53:22] Speaker 5: You know, I get it. We really like the Jaguars offense.
[53:25] Speaker 5: But I think you're paying this premium price right now
[53:29] Speaker 5: based on the Chris Rodriguez foot injury thing we saw. Well,
[53:34] Speaker 5: for one, there's a report that he's gonna be totally
[53:35] Speaker 5: fine for training camp, so he might Tuton might literally
[53:38] Speaker 5: fall back to the five to six turn or even
[53:40] Speaker 5: the sixth round. Then you just factor in that he
[53:43] Speaker 5: just couldn't get himself on the field last season, Like
[53:45] Speaker 5: that's that's not good for me. I don't view etn
[53:49] Speaker 5: as like this guy that you can never take off
[53:52] Speaker 5: the field, and Tuton couldn't even do it last year,
[53:55] Speaker 5: So I don't love that. So I think you're paying
[54:00] Speaker 5: a premium and you're really hoping for this mega efficiency
[54:05] Speaker 5: and touchdowns. But I think I think he's gonna get cheaper.
[54:11] Speaker 5: So from a market based game, I think you know
[54:14] Speaker 5: draft him in August when he's a six round pick.
[54:17] Speaker 5: I don't see how he keeps moving up, but if
[54:19] Speaker 5: he does, I probably won't have much of him. As
[54:21] Speaker 5: much as I want the Jaguars running back, I think
[54:23] Speaker 5: I just I'd go somewhere else with it.
[54:25] Speaker 4: It feels like there's a better chance than not that
[54:27] Speaker 4: Chris Rodriguez is like, we're not going to get to
[54:29] Speaker 4: training camp, and Chris Rodriguez is like, oh, his foot's
[54:32] Speaker 4: falling like a Joe Mixon situation or something like that.
[54:35] Speaker 4: Right where it's like, like, so, I think, probability wise,
[54:38] Speaker 4: you're probably right that Tutin could then just immediately see
[54:43] Speaker 4: a lower price. And if you're playing the long game here, right,
[54:46] Speaker 4: if if you're drafting in May through August and you
[54:48] Speaker 4: want to just capture as much CLV as possible, then
[54:51] Speaker 4: it would make sense to just kind of wait on
[54:53] Speaker 4: bashall if you're not if you're not d like I liked,
[54:56] Speaker 4: like I was a Tootin' truth through as it from
[54:57] Speaker 4: him as a prospect, I think that in season long
[55:00] Speaker 4: he's a target because of the way that other platforms
[55:03] Speaker 4: have him ranked stuff, because Bestball ADP is.
[55:05] Speaker 1: Not the same as season long ADP.
[55:06] Speaker 4: It's just like, go look at what's going on over
[55:08] Speaker 4: at ESPN, et cetera.
[55:10] Speaker 6: It's differ where do they got him.
[55:11] Speaker 4: He's more of like closer to like the twenty five
[55:15] Speaker 4: to thirty range running back, whereas here he's more of
[55:17] Speaker 4: like the twenty to twenty three ish range, right, And
[55:21] Speaker 4: that to me is enough of a difference to be like, yeah,
[55:24] Speaker 4: I mean, like now you're almost definitely getting him as
[55:26] Speaker 4: a as an RB three type in season long, which
[55:29] Speaker 4: I think is perfect for a player like Tuton. Like
[55:31] Speaker 4: if you go running back, running back, that's where I
[55:33] Speaker 4: feel more confident in getting a player like base All Turton,
[55:36] Speaker 4: because now you have that installation. But if you're not
[55:38] Speaker 4: going that direction, it's a little bit more difficult to
[55:41] Speaker 4: you know, rely on him in that way, especially in
[55:42] Speaker 4: basketball with what we had just talked about, you know,
[55:44] Speaker 4: and wanting to to not have take Zeros, et cetera.
[55:48] Speaker 4: And so yeah, I mean there's just different prices, you know,
[55:50] Speaker 4: in these different platforms and stuff.
[55:51] Speaker 1: And right now I'm a I'm a toutin truther and
[55:54] Speaker 1: I'm not even going like ham with this price right now.
[55:57] Speaker 5: Yeah, I like and I like the profile, like you said, right,
[55:59] Speaker 5: And I'll say this much, I wish I took a
[56:02] Speaker 5: lot more when he was in that like seventh eighth
[56:05] Speaker 5: round in the pre draft stuff.
[56:06] Speaker 6: That was the that was the time to buy.
[56:08] Speaker 5: But they also came out and there was a giant
[56:10] Speaker 5: report about how they wanted JK. Dobbins this offseason, and
[56:13] Speaker 5: the Broncos swooped in first and got him, So clearly
[56:15] Speaker 5: they're like looking for other running back help. They were
[56:18] Speaker 5: not planning on giving this guy, you know, two hundred
[56:22] Speaker 5: and eighty carries this season.
[56:23] Speaker 6: I don't think so.
[56:24] Speaker 1: But what do you think of this take? I had
[56:25] Speaker 1: this take with the JK.
[56:27] Speaker 4: Dobbins thing where everyone has tied Chris Rodriguez to Liam
[56:31] Speaker 4: Cohen because they have a history, right because he played
[56:33] Speaker 4: with him in Kentucky, and Chris Rodriguez was hand picked.
[56:36] Speaker 1: But doesn't the JK.
[56:37] Speaker 4: Dobbins report say the opposite of that that he wasn't
[56:40] Speaker 4: that Chris Rodriguez like wasn't there because they were, look,
[56:42] Speaker 4: they were gonna add somebody, and maybe JK. Dobbins was
[56:45] Speaker 4: the top guy that they wanted to add, And I
[56:47] Speaker 4: think that that would obviously impact, like maybe the way
[56:50] Speaker 4: they viewed twotant. But overall I'm reading this report, the
[56:52] Speaker 4: natural response is like, oh, they don't like Beasehall Tuton.
[56:55] Speaker 4: But I'm like, I think the response might be that, like,
[56:57] Speaker 4: they don't really like Chris Rodriguez the way that Peopothy.
[57:01] Speaker 6: You know, in the sad part is is like.
[57:06] Speaker 5: The fact that I am saying not to take Tuton
[57:09] Speaker 5: because of Chris Rodriguez really upsets me, honestly, because, like
[57:12] Speaker 5: I think Chris Rodriguez is very good whatsoever. Right, I
[57:16] Speaker 5: just worry because Trevor Lawrence had like nine rushing touchdown.
[57:18] Speaker 5: I just want yeah, yeah, I like that. Yeah, I
[57:22] Speaker 5: just worry that Tuton won't score that much. But maybe
[57:25] Speaker 5: he will.
[57:26] Speaker 6: I you know, it's a fair.
[57:27] Speaker 2: Look.
[57:28] Speaker 5: I like your third, your third running back. Take that's
[57:31] Speaker 5: a fun get him as your third. Yeah, that seems fun.
[57:34] Speaker 4: That's what I've been trying to do mostly. And then
[57:36] Speaker 4: obviously I'm doing enough drafts that I can just wait
[57:38] Speaker 4: till he falls. You know, I'm not I'm not at
[57:39] Speaker 4: the four like I'm still in the wide receiver tier
[57:42] Speaker 4: at that four or five turn area.
[57:43] Speaker 6: Yeah right, Yeah, we're taking Adda.
[57:46] Speaker 4: Into Jaalen Waddle and these guys who we know are
[57:48] Speaker 4: just good, especially on a full PPR platform. But if
[57:51] Speaker 4: he's like five six turn then yeah, like I'll especially
[57:55] Speaker 4: because in that area you're typically going running back, running
[57:58] Speaker 4: back or oftentimes you're going running back back, and so
[58:00] Speaker 4: he is your RB three and it's a lot easier.
[58:02] Speaker 4: Not only that, but if you get Touton in the
[58:04] Speaker 4: back half of the fifth and into the sixth, that's
[58:06] Speaker 4: also Trevor Lawrence Range in the in the seventh and
[58:09] Speaker 4: eighth like where he will generally go. So you can
[58:11] Speaker 4: like start Stack and Jags getting Parker Washington or Brian Thomas,
[58:14] Speaker 4: however we want to do it. So like that's kind
[58:16] Speaker 4: of the approach I've taken with Tooton is that I'm
[58:19] Speaker 4: not fading him by any means.
[58:20] Speaker 1: I'm just kind of picking and choosing where I end
[58:23] Speaker 1: up getting him.
[58:23] Speaker 6: That's fair.
[58:24] Speaker 5: I do the same thing with Trevon Henderson, who have
[58:26] Speaker 5: a huge stand on this year. So and I do
[58:28] Speaker 5: like him when he is my third running back. I
[58:30] Speaker 5: think he has that hammer ability to win you any
[58:34] Speaker 5: week possible. And so as a third, you know, maybe
[58:37] Speaker 5: maybe more up and down throughout the season, though with
[58:39] Speaker 5: Ramandre still there of course.
[58:41] Speaker 4: All right, the last guy I want to touch on,
[58:43] Speaker 4: I don't know if it's like like an etr effect
[58:47] Speaker 4: or something, because I think Silva's high on or like
[58:50] Speaker 4: moved him up his rankings a whole lot. But Quentin
[58:53] Speaker 4: Johnston was, like I swear, like a ninth or tenth
[58:56] Speaker 4: round pick one day, and then the next day he
[58:59] Speaker 4: on draftings with a six seven turn player out of
[59:02] Speaker 4: like literally in like a forty eight hour period. So
[59:05] Speaker 4: where are you at with QJ right now?
[59:08] Speaker 5: I was shocked. I saw him go in the sixth
[59:10] Speaker 5: round yesterday.
[59:11] Speaker 6: I'm out. I'm out on that price. I don't I
[59:14] Speaker 6: don't get it. He's not.
[59:17] Speaker 5: He doesn't have the full PPR kind of scammy thing
[59:20] Speaker 5: to him, so he's not gonna be this dominant target earner.
[59:24] Speaker 5: His whole thing is based on like his yak ability.
[59:26] Speaker 5: I guess, but no, I am. I'm out on the
[59:29] Speaker 5: sixth round. I don't think you're gonna I don't think
[59:31] Speaker 5: he's better than lad. I don't think you're ever gonna
[59:33] Speaker 5: be the wide receiver one on the Chargers. I think
[59:35] Speaker 5: the Chargers inherently also want to run the absolute crap
[59:39] Speaker 5: out of the ball. They have everything in their power
[59:42] Speaker 5: to do that. Blocking full back, blocking tight end, one
[59:46] Speaker 5: of the best of lines in the league, two really
[59:48] Speaker 5: good running backs. I think you're just paying for a
[59:51] Speaker 5: very expensive, inconsistent spike week guy like I dare to say,
[59:57] Speaker 5: I'd like take Rashid Shahi or something.
[1:00:01] Speaker 4: Yeah, The interesting thing with QJ is that if you
[1:00:04] Speaker 4: want to, like I try to like arbitrage a little
[1:00:07] Speaker 4: bit with season long right where sure, if I'm out
[1:00:10] Speaker 4: on a guy in Best Ball or if I don't
[1:00:12] Speaker 4: like his price, you can look at season long and
[1:00:14] Speaker 4: see his price totally different in season long with QJ.
[1:00:16] Speaker 4: If you guys want QJ exposure, my recommendation would be dry.
[1:00:20] Speaker 4: He's gonna be a tart. He's actually a dart throw
[1:00:22] Speaker 4: in the draft guy this year spoiler alert because he
[1:00:25] Speaker 4: goes after wide receiver fifty on an ADP, on all
[1:00:28] Speaker 4: these other platforms. And so if you want to get
[1:00:31] Speaker 4: QJ exposure, do it in season long. I think he's
[1:00:33] Speaker 4: a great season long pick because there's some outs for him,
[1:00:36] Speaker 4: and there's especially if you're in more of a half
[1:00:38] Speaker 4: PPR environment, like you said, like I, I like the
[1:00:40] Speaker 4: fit from a yact perspective all of that.
[1:00:42] Speaker 1: But if you're taking QJ in the.
[1:00:44] Speaker 4: Same range as these elite quarterbacks and like somebody like,
[1:00:47] Speaker 4: it's it's crazy to me, it's wild, and maybe maybe
[1:00:50] Speaker 4: we're idiots at the end of the year, but I
[1:00:51] Speaker 4: just I don't I don't see it right now.
[1:00:54] Speaker 6: You know, through week five. Last year, I felt like
[1:00:56] Speaker 6: an idiot.
[1:00:57] Speaker 5: Son, dude, I've been burned by QJ so bad I had.
[1:01:01] Speaker 5: He was my most drafted player, one of my most
[1:01:03] Speaker 5: drafts players his rookie season. Yeah, and then I was
[1:01:06] Speaker 5: so burned. I was like, I'm never drafting you again.
[1:01:08] Speaker 5: And then sophomore year just goes off as a fifteenth
[1:01:11] Speaker 5: round pick. So yeah, I feel yah, I don't want
[1:01:14] Speaker 5: to be chasing the dragon there.
[1:01:16] Speaker 4: Speaking of fades, do you have any pretty hard fades
[1:01:19] Speaker 4: in the in the early rounds this year?
[1:01:21] Speaker 6: I do.
[1:01:22] Speaker 5: I have a I have a pretty strong fade on
[1:01:25] Speaker 5: Jonathan Taylor right now, which does freak me out because
[1:01:28] Speaker 5: we know, yeah, he's got he has the ability to
[1:01:31] Speaker 5: drop forty every single week. He is one of the
[1:01:34] Speaker 5: most talented running backs in the NFL. But I'm I
[1:01:38] Speaker 5: have the same feeling that this is kind of what
[1:01:41] Speaker 5: happened with like Saquon last year. You know, Saquon in
[1:01:44] Speaker 5: twenty twenty four had like six or like five sixty
[1:01:48] Speaker 5: yard touchdown runs. It was the the Eagles franchise record
[1:01:52] Speaker 5: of fifty yards or maybe the NFL record honestly, of
[1:01:56] Speaker 5: these touchdown runs, and I feel like Taylor did that
[1:01:59] Speaker 5: you did great last year with that, but you're coming
[1:02:02] Speaker 5: into an offense that has a quarterback with a torn achilles.
[1:02:05] Speaker 5: The backup is Riley Leonard, who I don't think is
[1:02:07] Speaker 5: very good. Or maybe it's Richardson. I'm not even sure there,
[1:02:10] Speaker 5: but either way, I don't think it's a great situation.
[1:02:13] Speaker 5: And I also think the Colts just got off to
[1:02:15] Speaker 5: this extremely hot start that is not going to be
[1:02:18] Speaker 5: repeatable for the most part, I think, and he could
[1:02:21] Speaker 5: bury me like he could you need Jonathan Taylor against
[1:02:24] Speaker 5: the Browns week seventeen potentially. Yeah, So that's where I'm like,
[1:02:29] Speaker 5: you know, I'm definitely going to mix in some Taylor
[1:02:32] Speaker 5: at the end of my maybe at the end of
[1:02:34] Speaker 5: August once I can see how many Taylor teams I
[1:02:36] Speaker 5: have basically, but yeah, from an advance rate perspective, I
[1:02:41] Speaker 5: don't think that I'm gonna want Jonathan Taylor.
[1:02:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, if you look at his splits from week one
[1:02:49] Speaker 4: to week ten last year, which is when he like
[1:02:51] Speaker 4: everyone is sort of like anchored to what he did.
[1:02:53] Speaker 4: You know, during that stretch, he averaged like twenty seven
[1:02:56] Speaker 4: and a half PPR points per game. It was crazy,
[1:02:58] Speaker 4: like he was he was going absolutely nuts. And I
[1:03:00] Speaker 4: think that people look at like the other split you know,
[1:03:02] Speaker 4: out of this, you know, past week ten, and they
[1:03:05] Speaker 4: assumed that, oh, that was just because Daniel Jones was out,
[1:03:08] Speaker 4: but even the next three games after that split, because
[1:03:10] Speaker 4: I think it was that Falcons game that was overseas
[1:03:12] Speaker 4: where he like went nuts, went absolutely ham Jonathan Taylor did.
[1:03:15] Speaker 4: And then after that game he averaged like twelve PPR
[1:03:19] Speaker 4: points per game for three weeks, and then Daniel Jones
[1:03:21] Speaker 4: went down and he averaged thirteen point three PPR points
[1:03:24] Speaker 4: per game down the stretch, which really like, again, we
[1:03:28] Speaker 4: know the ceiling is there, but also I'm not sitting here.
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: I don't want to bet on Indianapolis.
[1:03:34] Speaker 4: Literally, they were the best team in touchdowns per game
[1:03:37] Speaker 4: through that the first ten weeks last year.
[1:03:39] Speaker 5: And that's crazy, right, Like they were the best team
[1:03:42] Speaker 5: in the NFL. Like, if you had a through Week eight,
[1:03:44] Speaker 5: if you had the Super Bowl odds, it was probably
[1:03:46] Speaker 5: Colts to go to the Super Bowl.
[1:03:48] Speaker 4: Right, right, And and Daniel Jones now coming off the
[1:03:51] Speaker 4: Achilles and you know, just general regression, Like I think
[1:03:55] Speaker 4: Jonathan Taylor's a general fade this year just because he's
[1:03:58] Speaker 4: placed in a tear, you're above the Gentes and even
[1:04:02] Speaker 4: like the James Cooks, if you want to throw him
[1:04:03] Speaker 4: in there, if if he does end up catching more
[1:04:05] Speaker 4: passes like the reports are saying or whomever, I think
[1:04:08] Speaker 4: he's just in the same tier as these guys, even
[1:04:10] Speaker 4: like a like, are you going to be shocked if
[1:04:12] Speaker 4: like Chase Brown outscores Jonathan Taylor this year in full PPR.
[1:04:15] Speaker 5: NO, I think after CMC goes, I think you kind
[1:04:18] Speaker 5: of enter a very flat tier honestly, all the way
[1:04:21] Speaker 5: down to Chase Brown. Henry yeaheah, totally agree, totally agree.
[1:04:25] Speaker 5: When you're looking late in drafts, who are who are
[1:04:27] Speaker 5: you targeting frequently? Right now, my most drafted player actually
[1:04:31] Speaker 5: is a late round quarterback. So it's Fanda Mendoza. I
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: don't know if this because it is late, but oh,
[1:04:38] Speaker 5: that's late any anytime. We've basically found out over the
[1:04:42] Speaker 5: last few seasons that the sims absolutely agree with three quarterbacks,
[1:04:47] Speaker 5: especially on the twenty round DraftKings. We so it's like,
[1:04:52] Speaker 5: let's pull the lever of rookie mystery box Mendoza. But
[1:04:56] Speaker 5: also the mystery box isn't much of a mystery. This
[1:04:59] Speaker 5: is like the Heisman winner, Championship Indiana quarterback who is
[1:05:04] Speaker 5: you know, he's a beast. Like physically, he's huge, which
[1:05:07] Speaker 5: I love. He's got all the quarterback skill sets for
[1:05:10] Speaker 5: the physical aspect, but he also has a rushing side
[1:05:14] Speaker 5: to him, which I think people underestimate.
[1:05:16] Speaker 6: I think his ability.
[1:05:17] Speaker 5: He's like maybe not like obviously Lamar or anything like that,
[1:05:22] Speaker 5: but he's got like a Trevor Lawrence in him where
[1:05:24] Speaker 5: you get around the goal line, and this guy's got
[1:05:26] Speaker 5: a nose for the end zone. So when I can
[1:05:28] Speaker 5: take that third quarterback who I know is going to
[1:05:31] Speaker 5: be starting at the end of the season. Yes, I
[1:05:33] Speaker 5: do not think Kirk is playing the whole season. You know,
[1:05:35] Speaker 5: I don't know if there are Kirk Truthers out there
[1:05:37] Speaker 5: that think he is. But you factor Clint Kubiak to
[1:05:41] Speaker 5: absolutely elite, elite weapons with Bowers and Gentee that you
[1:05:45] Speaker 5: can throw the ball to, and his ability to run
[1:05:48] Speaker 5: in touchdowns at after pick one P seventy right now
[1:05:52] Speaker 5: is a fantastic lever to pull in my opinion. And
[1:05:55] Speaker 5: then on top of that, Week sixteen he plays the
[1:05:58] Speaker 5: Titans in a dome, and in Week seventeen he plays
[1:06:01] Speaker 5: the Cardinals in the dumb. So if you have Mendoza
[1:06:04] Speaker 5: by week sixteen on a playoff best ball team, you
[1:06:08] Speaker 5: are I think you're feeling so good about your chances.
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that call.
[1:06:14] Speaker 4: I think that that's one of the uh you know,
[1:06:17] Speaker 4: in going three quarterback if you get two pretty established
[1:06:19] Speaker 4: guys where you're like, I could just settle here and
[1:06:21] Speaker 4: be done. That quarterback like he's been one that I
[1:06:24] Speaker 4: just kind of tag on, especially if I got Bauers early,
[1:06:27] Speaker 4: it's easy or.
[1:06:28] Speaker 6: Just a cardinal. If you took Jeremiah Love for McBride,
[1:06:30] Speaker 6: just have the bringback.
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, totally agree. That's a great call. Love that all.
[1:06:34] Speaker 4: Right, Before I let you go, give me give me
[1:06:36] Speaker 4: a bold take for this twenty twenty six season.
[1:06:40] Speaker 5: Bold take for this twenty twenty sixth season. I'm I'm
[1:06:43] Speaker 5: going to say, man, yeah, it's like you can go
[1:06:46] Speaker 5: a bunch of different directions. You do a player take,
[1:06:48] Speaker 5: do a macro take. Let's do a macro take. I'm
[1:06:50] Speaker 5: going to say wide receivers matter. I think people are
[1:06:54] Speaker 5: completely out of the loop with what they're doing at
[1:06:57] Speaker 5: wide receiver. I think the fact that people can look
[1:07:01] Speaker 5: down at a roster and think that Jalen Cokers your
[1:07:05] Speaker 5: wide receiver four, but I have all these awesome quarterbacks,
[1:07:08] Speaker 5: and running backs is not the way to play. People
[1:07:11] Speaker 5: are overdrafting quarterback early. They're even taking potentially too many
[1:07:16] Speaker 5: running backs if you hit on the mid the ambiguous
[1:07:19] Speaker 5: round running backs, Like every single year there is Washington, Minnesota,
[1:07:24] Speaker 5: Tennessee a bunch of different ambiguous running back rooms this season,
[1:07:28] Speaker 5: to where you can just take your anchor early, maybe
[1:07:30] Speaker 5: double anchor if you want, and then wait a little bit.
[1:07:33] Speaker 5: That is the way to play. Even Broncos. Now, the
[1:07:35] Speaker 5: first Broncos running back goes off round eight. That's an
[1:07:38] Speaker 5: awesome running back room. So there's that, and I would
[1:07:41] Speaker 5: just say get your strong wide receivers early. They do matter.
[1:07:44] Speaker 5: When you are looking down at a team in week fifteen,
[1:07:47] Speaker 5: Week sixteen, you don't want to see Jalen Cokers, your
[1:07:49] Speaker 5: wide receiver four that you need a big game out
[1:07:51] Speaker 5: of that week when you have to beat one in
[1:07:53] Speaker 5: fifteen people in the pot or whatever you want to.
[1:07:56] Speaker 5: You want to look down and see like, okay, sick,
[1:07:59] Speaker 5: maybe this team barely advanced at a heart of time,
[1:08:01] Speaker 5: but now I'm looking down at Jamar Chase Nico Collins, Rice,
[1:08:06] Speaker 5: and my running backs are still good enough to where
[1:08:08] Speaker 5: they can they're they're obviously good enough because this team
[1:08:10] Speaker 5: advanced kind of thing.
[1:08:11] Speaker 6: So yeah, that's that's what I that's what I would say.
[1:08:14] Speaker 1: I love that.
[1:08:15] Speaker 4: I also think that, like this is a really good
[1:08:17] Speaker 4: year to mix up your structural drafting and like don't
[1:08:21] Speaker 4: be super rigid with like just doing the same thing
[1:08:24] Speaker 4: over Not only have I learned through doing this that
[1:08:27] Speaker 4: that's just a really easy way to like get your
[1:08:29] Speaker 4: exposure in a good place right by not just doing
[1:08:32] Speaker 4: the same thing over and over again. Because if you're
[1:08:34] Speaker 4: just drafting running backs early over and over again, you're
[1:08:36] Speaker 4: gonna have zero AJ Brown. You're gonna have zero Drake London.
[1:08:38] Speaker 4: You're gonna you're just not gonna have these guys who
[1:08:40] Speaker 4: we know objectively are real. Like I even look at
[1:08:43] Speaker 4: my portfolio sometimes I'm like, oh crap, I don't have
[1:08:45] Speaker 4: nearly enough Drake London right now, even though I don't
[1:08:47] Speaker 4: like love London this year in a situation compared to
[1:08:50] Speaker 4: other guys, but I'm like, I understand that he has
[1:08:53] Speaker 4: that outcome of just destroying in a playoff week because
[1:08:56] Speaker 4: it's Drake freaking London, right, especially in a full PPR platform,
[1:08:59] Speaker 4: And so.
[1:09:00] Speaker 1: I think it's just really it's a great call out.
[1:09:02] Speaker 4: Like it's very easy to listen to shows like this
[1:09:05] Speaker 4: and be like, all right, it's optimal to go running back,
[1:09:08] Speaker 4: running back and then to you know, do whatever you
[1:09:10] Speaker 4: want with these middle round quarterbacks and stuff. But like
[1:09:13] Speaker 4: you you can't let wide receiver fall aside because it
[1:09:16] Speaker 4: is still a very very important position.
[1:09:18] Speaker 6: Exactly. Yep, that's that's really about it.
[1:09:20] Speaker 5: Yeah, and then back to the earlier point is like
[1:09:23] Speaker 5: you know, put put Drake London on a gent team.
[1:09:25] Speaker 5: I'm not saying you have to start wide receiver, wide receiver,
[1:09:28] Speaker 5: take an anchor running back, and then pound wide receiver
[1:09:31] Speaker 5: like have have your wide receiver five or six or sorry,
[1:09:36] Speaker 5: wide receiver five be something really fun, like maybe it's
[1:09:38] Speaker 5: a Makai Lemon in the eighth round. Yeah, so you're
[1:09:41] Speaker 5: looking down down the stretches, getting more targets than than
[1:09:45] Speaker 5: Smith or whatever, like in you you're advancing that team
[1:09:48] Speaker 5: that could be that could be a really fun squad
[1:09:50] Speaker 5: for you.
[1:09:50] Speaker 4: So yeah, love that call out, BBG man. Let everyone
[1:09:53] Speaker 4: know where they can find you and and what you
[1:09:55] Speaker 4: guys are doing. Over the Toxic Tower. What you're doing
[1:09:57] Speaker 4: on your YouTube channel, just just shout it all out.
[1:10:00] Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you JJ, thanks for having me. It's been great.
[1:10:03] Speaker 5: We are live on the Best Ball Guy YouTube channel.
[1:10:07] Speaker 5: Just type in best Ball Guy and you'll find it.
[1:10:09] Speaker 5: I go live twice a week where I do three
[1:10:11] Speaker 5: hours plus of live best ball drafting. I'm also on
[1:10:15] Speaker 5: a show that is I don't really know how to
[1:10:18] Speaker 5: even describe toalksower. Maybe JJ can do a better version
[1:10:21] Speaker 5: than me, but it's like a comedy show yet analytical show.
[1:10:26] Speaker 6: For Best Ball as well, called the Toxic Tower. It is.
[1:10:28] Speaker 5: It is a fantastic time. We do that show, one
[1:10:31] Speaker 5: public show a week and then also one member's only
[1:10:34] Speaker 5: show a week for five dollars. You can become a
[1:10:36] Speaker 5: member over there, So go check it out, man. Yeah,
[1:10:38] Speaker 5: if you search Toxic Tower on YouTube or Best Ball
[1:10:43] Speaker 5: Guy on YouTube, you should come across that.
[1:10:45] Speaker 4: I think that Toxic Tower is great because in the
[1:10:48] Speaker 4: fantasy football space, you don't find a lot of shows
[1:10:51] Speaker 4: where people are just like openly disagreeing with one another.
[1:10:54] Speaker 1: And you guys are all.
[1:10:55] Speaker 4: Buddies and like, you can you can do that openly
[1:10:57] Speaker 4: and not trash.
[1:10:59] Speaker 1: But just say like, you know, you're not being smart
[1:11:01] Speaker 1: with this.
[1:11:01] Speaker 4: Take whatever, and you guys can can you know, give
[1:11:04] Speaker 4: each other crap for it, but it allows the from
[1:11:07] Speaker 4: a user perspective and a watcher perspective, it's very entertaining.
[1:11:10] Speaker 4: But also like we need more of that, just general debate.
[1:11:14] Speaker 4: I think, like I'm guilty of it.
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: You know.
[1:11:16] Speaker 4: I have people on the show all the time where
[1:11:18] Speaker 4: they say something and I might disagree with it, and
[1:11:20] Speaker 4: I try to push back a little bit. But it's
[1:11:21] Speaker 4: not always the easiest thing to do. But when you're
[1:11:23] Speaker 4: comfortable with that person and those people, it's a lot
[1:11:26] Speaker 4: easier to do it and have fun with it. So
[1:11:28] Speaker 4: I would definitely check out the Toxic Tower. All great guy,
[1:11:32] Speaker 4: PPR Tyler, I'm.
[1:11:33] Speaker 1: Still kind of iffy.
[1:11:34] Speaker 6: We're still coming around to him.
[1:11:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll see.
[1:11:37] Speaker 4: As always, guys, make sure you check out Late Round
[1:11:39] Speaker 4: dot com. The Late Round Draft Guide will be out
[1:11:41] Speaker 4: on Friday, actually probably Thursday night, so if you go
[1:11:44] Speaker 4: pre order that now, you will get it. There's weekly updates,
[1:11:48] Speaker 4: you get rankings and tiers, there's tons of game theory stuff.
[1:11:50] Speaker 4: I'm finished writing it. We're in sort of the editing
[1:11:53] Speaker 4: phase right now. And it's going to be about three
[1:11:56] Speaker 4: hundred pages long. It is a is a very very
[1:11:58] Speaker 4: beastly guy. It's the longest and most in depth that
[1:12:01] Speaker 4: I've done, so check it all out lateround dot com. Otherwise, everyone,
[1:12:06] Speaker 4: thanks for tuning in.
