[1:06] Speaker 1: one only on Draftkacks, The crown is yours. I realized,
[1:12] Speaker 1: I think the last time we did a show together
[1:14] Speaker 1: genuinely was on Perspectives yep, like two and a half
[1:19] Speaker 1: years ago.
[1:20] Speaker 3: Was I sick? Then? Too.
[1:23] Speaker 2: No, we you know what we.
[1:24] Speaker 1: Opened up with was was an N sixty four discussion.
[1:27] Speaker 3: There we go, Oh, I need to show you. I
[1:29] Speaker 3: wish I had it here to follow along with that conversation,
[1:33] Speaker 3: have you ever heard of something called that a yan thoor? No,
[1:37] Speaker 3: I don't play it. You know, I don't have time
[1:39] Speaker 3: to play video games anymore. What is it?
[1:40] Speaker 2: A system?
[1:41] Speaker 3: It's a system that is basically like a three DS
[1:45] Speaker 3: on steroids that you can emulate basically anything from I
[1:49] Speaker 3: don't know, Super Nintendo to PS two and it plays
[1:53] Speaker 3: it like perfectly. So I have this thing and I
[1:56] Speaker 3: probably have like fifty games on it, and I've played
[1:59] Speaker 3: about an hour worth of Madden Era PS two and
[2:03] Speaker 3: that's it. But it's just cool that I have all
[2:05] Speaker 3: these things at my hands when I would have to
[2:07] Speaker 3: go to like electronics boutique in Charlotte to like buy
[2:10] Speaker 3: these games for forty bucks and then trade them in
[2:12] Speaker 3: for the next one all that stuff. So it's a
[2:14] Speaker 3: it's a much easier world.
[2:15] Speaker 1: Were you were you like me back in the day.
[2:17] Speaker 1: This is so we're talking like early two thousands, yep,
[2:20] Speaker 1: you know, so what we're like early high school, late
[2:23] Speaker 1: middle school, something around then and you open up Madden
[2:28] Speaker 1: and you're simply doing franchise and.
[2:31] Speaker 3: You're spending all of your time making sure that everyone
[2:34] Speaker 3: has the right equipment that they actually wear on game days.
[2:38] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and you gotta.
[2:40] Speaker 1: But like I would sit in my basement with my
[2:43] Speaker 1: boys and we would I say that, like they were
[2:46] Speaker 1: my children, but like we would we would be hanging out.
[2:49] Speaker 1: We would do We would draft teams back then, and
[2:52] Speaker 1: I remember that it was my way of like understanding
[2:55] Speaker 1: defensive players, especially because I started getting into like fantasy
[2:58] Speaker 1: around that time, and so like I remember, like it
[3:01] Speaker 1: was when Ed Reid was like a year one, year
[3:03] Speaker 1: two type player and he was like sickeningly good and mad,
[3:05] Speaker 1: and I'm like, who is this guy? And then we
[3:07] Speaker 1: would always be drafting him early on in these rafts,
[3:10] Speaker 1: and then he ended up being Ed Reid, who we know.
[3:11] Speaker 3: No. I mean, those are the days like you could
[3:13] Speaker 3: just go home and the hours were just burned by
[3:17] Speaker 3: and you would eat like you know, pizza, hut, drink
[3:20] Speaker 3: mountain dew. The world didn't matter. Calories and carbohydrates didn't matter.
[3:25] Speaker 3: And I mean sometimes I do wish like life is great,
[3:29] Speaker 3: but like give me twenty four hours back in that timeline,
[3:33] Speaker 3: and I would not sleep and I would take advantage
[3:35] Speaker 3: of every single minute of it.
[3:37] Speaker 2: Yes, I couldn't agree more.
[3:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, man, it's in like the soundtracks of those games
[3:42] Speaker 1: so good music, so memorable. I have a video game
[3:46] Speaker 1: soundtracks playlist on Spotify.
[3:49] Speaker 3: Like a bunch of good Charlotte and like pod and
[3:52] Speaker 3: all that stuff. Some random blank and I are like
[3:55] Speaker 3: the exact same era of everything when it comes to
[3:58] Speaker 3: the NFL, when it comes to video games, comes to.
[4:00] Speaker 2: Movie, like pop culture in general and stuff.
[4:02] Speaker 3: So I live in a neighborhood now that is like
[4:04] Speaker 3: you know, it has like a community pool and tennis
[4:07] Speaker 3: courts and yeah you know there are there are sidewalks
[4:10] Speaker 3: in every street and it's it's like its own little
[4:13] Speaker 3: cohesive environment. So I actually get like, you know, kids
[4:17] Speaker 3: walking to the end of the street to play with
[4:19] Speaker 3: their friends or like riding bikes and doing all that stuff.
[4:22] Speaker 3: And it does give me like this nostalgia of when
[4:25] Speaker 3: we grew up and like that was allowed versus yes,
[4:28] Speaker 3: yeah you know, I got to drop you off here
[4:29] Speaker 3: that's across town twenty minutes and you can't go anywhere
[4:31] Speaker 3: by yourself and all this type of stuff. So it
[4:34] Speaker 3: gets me excited now that I have a seven month
[4:35] Speaker 3: old that when they're seven, hopefully like their best friend
[4:39] Speaker 3: lives here and they can just go over there for
[4:41] Speaker 3: hours and hours and hours a day.
[4:42] Speaker 2: I got to tell you my daughter just turned eight.
[4:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, and she has now you know, now she's
[4:48] Speaker 1: in elementary school and stuff. We have friends in the
[4:50] Speaker 1: neighborhood that also go to her school and that are
[4:52] Speaker 1: in her class and such. We will get the random
[4:55] Speaker 1: kid ringing the doorbell frequently now just to say, hey,
[4:59] Speaker 1: is she them to play? I mean, and then they
[5:02] Speaker 1: go out and they ride their bikes because you can,
[5:04] Speaker 1: you know, you can have an idea, like I swear
[5:07] Speaker 1: back in the day, I would go out with my
[5:09] Speaker 1: friends in the neighborhood and my parents had no idea
[5:11] Speaker 1: where we none zero, there's no clue. They had no
[5:15] Speaker 1: clue what we were doing. And I want to be a
[5:17] Speaker 1: little bit more on top of that as a parent.
[5:19] Speaker 2: But you need to, you know, you need to.
[5:21] Speaker 1: You need to let them have a little bit of
[5:22] Speaker 1: freedom and know where they go. And as long as
[5:24] Speaker 1: you have a kid that you can trust, you know,
[5:25] Speaker 1: it's a it's it's an important part of childhood. But yeah,
[5:29] Speaker 1: we get the we get the doorbell ring, and it's awsome.
[5:30] Speaker 3: I mean that has to be the dream, right, Like, yes,
[5:33] Speaker 3: of it is because we all think that our our
[5:36] Speaker 3: childhood and hopefully everyone thinks this is exactly what you
[5:40] Speaker 3: want your kid's childhood to be in many ways, and
[5:42] Speaker 3: now it kind of feels almost impossible in some areas,
[5:45] Speaker 3: especially with how connected everything is and how they acquire
[5:48] Speaker 3: information and all that type of stuff. But just the
[5:53] Speaker 3: ability to do that is, uh, yeah, seems different than
[5:56] Speaker 3: how a lot of people have it have it these days? Yeah,
[5:59] Speaker 3: I mean I can't judge now that I'm a parent,
[6:02] Speaker 3: how anyone else has their parenting styles or any of that,
[6:06] Speaker 3: But man, I wish there was an easy way that,
[6:08] Speaker 3: like someone opened just a Blockbuster. I'm sure you've talked
[6:11] Speaker 3: about this with other people, and like that is the
[6:15] Speaker 3: memory that kids have on Friday evenings Saturdays as oh,
[6:18] Speaker 3: I walk in, hopefully they have my movie ready or
[6:20] Speaker 3: the video game and you have to look behind the
[6:24] Speaker 3: plastic boxes and all that type of stuff and oh, oh,
[6:27] Speaker 3: my parents are gonna allow me to buy a Magic
[6:29] Speaker 3: the Gathering pack this weekend if I plead enough, If I,
[6:32] Speaker 3: you know, break the leaves if I do all this stuff. Yeah,
[6:35] Speaker 3: and yeah, I mean I wonder what like the the
[6:38] Speaker 3: equal of that is now for kids. But it was great,
[6:41] Speaker 3: It was great. I loved it.
[6:42] Speaker 1: I mean, my daughter's into some like the squishies are
[6:45] Speaker 1: all the rage right now. Just think that you just
[6:47] Speaker 1: you just squished. Literally, she literally gave me she wants
[6:52] Speaker 1: me to have.
[6:52] Speaker 3: We didn't have many beanie babies, so I guess that's.
[6:54] Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it's it's a little bit like that.
[6:56] Speaker 1: But like right now, like this is it looks like
[6:58] Speaker 1: a piece of bread roll right, and it's a it's
[7:01] Speaker 1: a squishy that she gave me to just cut, and
[7:04] Speaker 1: it's it's just like a you know, a little stress reliever.
[7:06] Speaker 2: I hope it's not.
[7:07] Speaker 1: That's not why kids are collecting them. The way that
[7:09] Speaker 1: they are is to relieve stress. But it wouldn't shock
[7:12] Speaker 1: me if that's the case, because they're just inundated with someone.
[7:14] Speaker 3: Not to make this the entire show, But did you
[7:16] Speaker 3: ever consider when you finally showed her and you know,
[7:20] Speaker 3: your other kids like movies and TV shows, did you
[7:24] Speaker 3: ever think about going back to the start, like getting
[7:26] Speaker 3: a CRT TV that's like four x three and like
[7:31] Speaker 3: getting the actual VCR tapes and like starting with the
[7:34] Speaker 3: early Disney movies and that stuff versus.
[7:36] Speaker 2: I have not. But that's it. That's it. I mean, yeah,
[7:38] Speaker 2: it's so easy to.
[7:39] Speaker 3: Write versus like hitting Disney plus and boom, there's whatever
[7:42] Speaker 3: movie that you ever want, like actually having her have
[7:44] Speaker 3: to like pick out the one on the shelf and
[7:47] Speaker 3: that's what we're watching to.
[7:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, I haven't thought about that, but
[7:50] Speaker 2: it would be cool.
[7:51] Speaker 1: It'd be a fun a lot more work, speaking of
[7:53] Speaker 1: the speaking of the blockbuster thing, did you know? And look,
[7:56] Speaker 1: I understand if you're you know, not a millennial, then
[7:59] Speaker 1: you can fast forward to probably you know, three more minutes.
[8:02] Speaker 2: But did you know that?
[8:04] Speaker 1: So I'm assuming you played like Lion King on Sega
[8:07] Speaker 1: back in the day or.
[8:07] Speaker 3: Like, yeah, like the most difficult game ever.
[8:10] Speaker 2: Thank you?
[8:10] Speaker 1: Okay, did you know they made it that difficult on
[8:14] Speaker 1: purpose because they didn't want people to rent the game
[8:17] Speaker 1: for over the weekend and beat it and then not
[8:19] Speaker 1: purchase it.
[8:20] Speaker 2: Just just sickening, sickening stuff.
[8:23] Speaker 3: I'm disgusted, I know. Yeah, I mean again, just going
[8:27] Speaker 3: and now they're like these I don't know if you
[8:28] Speaker 3: get targeted on Instagram and all this stuff. But when
[8:31] Speaker 3: I'm just doom scrolling, every once in a while, I
[8:33] Speaker 3: get these reels that are AI generated and it's like
[8:36] Speaker 3: a Saturday morning in nineteen ninety eight and it's like
[8:39] Speaker 3: wintery and like you know, it's chips ahoy everywhere, and
[8:42] Speaker 3: it's like, again, exactly what your home that you grew
[8:45] Speaker 3: up in looks like, I'm like, and then it just
[8:46] Speaker 3: makes me think of it for an hour. Anyways, Toys
[8:49] Speaker 3: r Us was an experience like that too, Oh yeah,
[8:51] Speaker 3: where you had to like pull the slip from the
[8:54] Speaker 3: aisle and bring it to the kiosk.
[8:58] Speaker 2: My gosh, I.
[8:59] Speaker 3: Think I've told you the story before, but I mean
[9:03] Speaker 3: my biggest Toys r Us memory was right when Power
[9:05] Speaker 3: Rangers came out, and you know the badge thing that
[9:10] Speaker 3: they have, they that they go like it's morphin time
[9:12] Speaker 3: and then they turn into it. Anyways, I was, I
[9:15] Speaker 3: don't know, at age seven or eight at that time,
[9:17] Speaker 3: and walking up and down the aisles and I saw
[9:20] Speaker 3: the thing. I saw the belt or the badge or whatever,
[9:24] Speaker 3: and I was so scared to actually touch it because
[9:29] Speaker 3: I didn't want the responsibility that I would actually turn
[9:32] Speaker 3: into the power Ranger that for the next I don't know,
[9:34] Speaker 3: ten minutes. I just walked up and down the aisle,
[9:38] Speaker 3: just like giving it the side eye and looking at
[9:40] Speaker 3: it and be like, okay, and do I have the
[9:41] Speaker 3: courage to do this? And I didn't. And I never
[9:43] Speaker 3: bought them.
[9:44] Speaker 2: Oh that's incredible. That is incredible.
[9:46] Speaker 3: I thought I'd have to save the world if I
[9:48] Speaker 3: bought it.
[9:48] Speaker 2: It's that.
[9:49] Speaker 1: I mean, look, that's the way that like, like my so,
[9:51] Speaker 1: my son's three and a half and he's starting to
[9:53] Speaker 1: get into like he's like his whole personality is Spider
[9:55] Speaker 1: Man at this point, right, and so like and it's
[9:57] Speaker 1: it's fantastic, it's so much fun.
[9:59] Speaker 2: But like he has that mentality too.
[10:01] Speaker 1: He took a we have like a little play kitchen
[10:03] Speaker 1: in our playroom, and he took a pot and a
[10:05] Speaker 1: lid to the pot and that's his Captain America shield,
[10:08] Speaker 1: you know, like like that kind of stuff, and like
[10:10] Speaker 1: I could see him having that kind of reaction. But yeah, man,
[10:13] Speaker 1: I'm a big I'm a big nostalgia guy as well.
[10:15] Speaker 3: Feel very fortunate that that we loved our childhood so
[10:17] Speaker 3: much that exactly look on those things fondly.
[10:20] Speaker 2: I think that, yeah, you can't take that for granted,
[10:22] Speaker 2: for sure, for.
[10:23] Speaker 3: Sure, and then now that's all we want to do
[10:24] Speaker 3: for our kids.
[10:25] Speaker 1: I know, I know, Christmas time, especially when was your
[10:28] Speaker 1: son born again, uh the.
[10:30] Speaker 3: Week before Christmas, So this one would be like the
[10:32] Speaker 3: real the next one. Yeah, yeah, that's.
[10:36] Speaker 2: All right, let's talk. Let's talk some football. I guess,
[10:38] Speaker 2: I guess, I guess we can do that.
[10:39] Speaker 3: We have to.
[10:40] Speaker 1: We're in the like the thick of it right now
[10:42] Speaker 1: in terms of camp news and such, and I know,
[10:46] Speaker 1: I personally i'd love to hear your take on this too.
[10:48] Speaker 1: You know, this is just a subjective thing, but I
[10:51] Speaker 1: don't really remember a year where we've seen and maybe
[10:53] Speaker 1: it's just like the the way that the wide receiver
[10:56] Speaker 1: class was this year in general, and that it was
[10:58] Speaker 1: like kind of you know, pick your own flavor, you know,
[11:01] Speaker 1: whatever you like. You know, there's a lot of flatness
[11:04] Speaker 1: to it, aside from some of the top guys. But
[11:06] Speaker 1: it seems like we're just seeing like so much positive
[11:09] Speaker 1: hype and favorable hype for so many guys that we
[11:13] Speaker 1: know the hit rates of even day two wideouts and
[11:16] Speaker 1: then into day three of course you know, and we're
[11:18] Speaker 1: seeing all of this like just camp pipe with these guys.
[11:21] Speaker 1: So my question is like, are you feeling that way
[11:23] Speaker 1: a little bit? And then my bigger question that I
[11:26] Speaker 1: really want to hear your thoughts on is like how
[11:27] Speaker 1: you stay level headed with all the camp news and
[11:30] Speaker 1: how you sift through it.
[11:31] Speaker 3: I think there's so much of it this year, JJ,
[11:33] Speaker 3: that I haven't even gotten all of it like into
[11:35] Speaker 3: my brain and seen it all. Maybe that's a good thing,
[11:38] Speaker 3: maybe that's a bad thing. We'll check in at the
[11:40] Speaker 3: end of the season to find out. This kind of
[11:44] Speaker 3: goes not just with training camp, but also if you
[11:48] Speaker 3: want to use it for the NFL draft cycle. I
[11:51] Speaker 3: think you're kind of the same way where you can't
[11:53] Speaker 3: believe everyone you know, you kind of have to pick
[11:56] Speaker 3: out which people you actually trust. And with a lot
[11:59] Speaker 3: of this stuff that is writers, and while they all
[12:02] Speaker 3: might report and post the same things doing this for
[12:06] Speaker 3: like a decade, there are like certain ones that you
[12:09] Speaker 3: actually trust, right And I don't want to name them
[12:12] Speaker 3: all sure or not named enough, but like Nick Underhill
[12:17] Speaker 3: with the Northern Saints is one, Jordan ron On with
[12:19] Speaker 3: the Giants, Joe Person with the Panthers, like you can
[12:22] Speaker 3: tell that these people have done it long enough that
[12:24] Speaker 3: they can tell when something looks different, when something pops,
[12:28] Speaker 3: when they have you know, the coach's ear on certain things.
[12:31] Speaker 3: And so it's kind of like the drum beat with
[12:34] Speaker 3: those people as it continues, the more and more I
[12:37] Speaker 3: buy into it. But I'm like you, it's when these
[12:42] Speaker 3: videos are kind of aggregated and posted, you don't even
[12:44] Speaker 3: have time to like, look, okay, is this one on ones?
[12:47] Speaker 3: Is it seven on seven? Is it eleven on eleven?
[12:49] Speaker 3: Is it versus a guy in the practice squad that
[12:52] Speaker 3: might not even make the roster and all that type
[12:54] Speaker 3: of stuff. So I think I read into actual preseason
[12:57] Speaker 3: games and the pecking order and the divvy of touches
[13:00] Speaker 3: and that more than anything else in the preseason.
[13:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you.
[13:03] Speaker 1: And like there's some stuff like again the reporters that
[13:07] Speaker 1: have been right in the past that that seemed to
[13:10] Speaker 1: have a real like you know, ear within the organization
[13:14] Speaker 1: and such like one that's that really caught my eye
[13:17] Speaker 1: over the last two weeks or so, is is been
[13:19] Speaker 1: standing in the way that he's been talking about the
[13:21] Speaker 1: Washington backfield right where Yep, you know, I was heavier
[13:24] Speaker 1: on Rashad White thinking that it would go that direction.
[13:27] Speaker 1: And I'm still look, I still have my hesitations in saying, like,
[13:30] Speaker 1: oh no, Jacry Krosky America can certainly be an eight
[13:33] Speaker 1: to ten percent target chair player. I don't know if
[13:35] Speaker 1: that's the case, because he really wasn't that in college either,
[13:37] Speaker 1: Like he was never you know, a spectacular pass.
[13:39] Speaker 3: I think it's seven catches during his entire career in college.
[13:42] Speaker 1: Right right, and so like I definitely have had and
[13:45] Speaker 1: he wasn't. He wasn't a young prospect either. You know,
[13:46] Speaker 1: this isn't like a Braylan Allen situation where maybe it's
[13:49] Speaker 1: learned a little bit, you know, just through through that
[13:51] Speaker 1: you know, natural progression. But it is an eye opening
[13:55] Speaker 1: thing whenever, like a beat reporter who's generally on point
[13:58] Speaker 1: is saying something that makes you question junior priors a
[14:00] Speaker 1: little bit, I think you should be doing.
[14:02] Speaker 3: That one hundred percent. Uh. That's a fascinating backfield. And
[14:07] Speaker 3: to zoom out with it, I think we can get
[14:08] Speaker 3: so focused on, well, the passing game and the receptions
[14:12] Speaker 3: are they going to go to one player? Right right?
[14:15] Speaker 3: That's not true? You know, all that we need from
[14:17] Speaker 3: Bill is to just not be a total liability in
[14:20] Speaker 3: that area, to have like some level of trust to
[14:22] Speaker 3: stay in on a certain number of those situations. And
[14:25] Speaker 3: that's a big thing, right Yeah. I actually have been
[14:28] Speaker 3: taking a lot of Bill this year for a number
[14:31] Speaker 3: of reasons, Like you know, you can turn whatever underlying
[14:34] Speaker 3: metrics you want into a positive for any player, Like
[14:37] Speaker 3: there's enough of a sample that these guys play that
[14:40] Speaker 3: you can dig through something of a four game or
[14:43] Speaker 3: one hundred snaps that look great for again, every single
[14:46] Speaker 3: player that we want to draft this year, but for Bill,
[14:48] Speaker 3: like I remember, I think it might have been Standing
[14:50] Speaker 3: or JP Finley, both great on the Washington beat talk
[14:55] Speaker 3: to Josh Connery, the now second year right tackle and
[14:58] Speaker 3: him saying, Hey, in this offense, we're going to lead
[15:00] Speaker 3: more and more into wide zone. And then you read
[15:03] Speaker 3: that per I think it was fantasy points. Last year,
[15:07] Speaker 3: the Commanders were best in the NFL and outside zone
[15:09] Speaker 3: at six point one yards per carry, and then again
[15:12] Speaker 3: Bill led the NFL and yards per carrying outside zone
[15:14] Speaker 3: at seven point six. Now, that might not be a
[15:16] Speaker 3: large sample, It might just be really skewed from that
[15:18] Speaker 3: one Chargers game where he was fantastic, And at the
[15:21] Speaker 3: same time, I think he's going much later this year
[15:23] Speaker 3: than he did last year when he kind of became
[15:24] Speaker 3: a meme of the entire thing. So it's not I
[15:27] Speaker 3: think out of the realm of possibility that you know,
[15:29] Speaker 3: the second year, seventh round rookie who had some moments
[15:33] Speaker 3: last year but couldn't carry it for seventeen games, just
[15:36] Speaker 3: has more experience the game has slowed down for him
[15:38] Speaker 3: and has earned more trust kind of on the team
[15:41] Speaker 3: going into year two.
[15:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, agreed, And I think that that archetype of
[15:46] Speaker 1: running back in general is one that I traditionally have
[15:49] Speaker 1: like arbitraged a little bit, you know, where if it's
[15:52] Speaker 1: not a ten percent plus target share and you're looking
[15:54] Speaker 1: at an early downrunner, you know, and there's obviously, you know,
[15:57] Speaker 1: there's more that he could build off of that, But like,
[15:59] Speaker 1: I don't necessarily want to pay a premium on like
[16:02] Speaker 1: a Dobbins type if he goes earlier in a draft
[16:04] Speaker 1: or something like that, versus just waiting a couple of
[16:06] Speaker 1: rounds and going like Jordan Mason or Jacry Krossy Merrit
[16:09] Speaker 1: or what have you.
[16:10] Speaker 3: You know, I'm a little nervous that the Commander's backfield
[16:14] Speaker 3: turns into the Minnesota Vikings backfield.
[16:16] Speaker 2: I think too easily.
[16:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, easily. And you know, as much as we
[16:21] Speaker 3: have seen the Vikings backfields or i should say team score,
[16:25] Speaker 3: top six, top eight, and we love KOC and all
[16:29] Speaker 3: that stuff, like, in the end, their backfields just don't matter.
[16:31] Speaker 3: You know. They pass a lot near the red zone
[16:33] Speaker 3: and the running back someone get a lot of receptions
[16:36] Speaker 3: and they divvied up like perfectly for again these guys
[16:38] Speaker 3: to kind of be irrelevant. And I'm a bit nervous
[16:40] Speaker 3: that as much as we like to battle for three
[16:44] Speaker 3: months during the summer, in the end, no one wins.
[16:47] Speaker 3: Yeah with backfields like that.
[16:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, look, I've been talking ambiguous backfields from
[16:51] Speaker 1: a strategy perspective for like a decade now, right, and
[16:55] Speaker 1: people seem to think that, like and like it's a
[16:56] Speaker 1: better way to attack backfields than you know, take standalone
[17:00] Speaker 1: backs that have no running back competition ADP wise in
[17:04] Speaker 1: the middle rounds. Like there's hard data that says that
[17:06] Speaker 1: you would rather go after a middle round running back
[17:09] Speaker 1: who has other teammates in the middle rounds being drafted
[17:12] Speaker 1: around him than a standalone middle round running back with
[17:15] Speaker 1: no teammates, and the reason for that is likely situation, right,
[17:19] Speaker 1: because if there's multiple running backs being drafted in the
[17:20] Speaker 1: middle rounds, it means the situation is probably pretty good.
[17:22] Speaker 1: Whereas you have to ask yourself, why is this running
[17:25] Speaker 1: back being drafted isolated with no other teammates being drafted
[17:28] Speaker 1: near him? Why is he being drafted higher if he's
[17:30] Speaker 1: clearly looking like the bell cow in that backfield? Is
[17:33] Speaker 1: probably a situation based So I'm all about going after
[17:36] Speaker 1: these ambiguous backfields. But I think there's this notion out
[17:38] Speaker 1: there that there's a really really high hit rate of
[17:42] Speaker 1: players emerging from ambiguous backfields. But it's the opposite. It's
[17:45] Speaker 1: just that it's better odds. But you know, a lot
[17:47] Speaker 1: of these backfields just maintain, you know, ambiguity, and they
[17:51] Speaker 1: have a split backfield for most of the season.
[17:54] Speaker 3: First of all, I think you chose your packaging correctly,
[17:56] Speaker 3: because late round fantasy football rolls off the tongue a
[17:58] Speaker 3: lot better than ambiguous backfield fantasy. So definitely good job
[18:03] Speaker 3: with that choice. Yes, and yeah, I was looking at
[18:05] Speaker 3: some over performers last year based on where guys were drafted,
[18:09] Speaker 3: like Javonte kind of goes against a little bit what
[18:11] Speaker 3: you're saying in that he was drafted as running back
[18:14] Speaker 3: thirty eight last year finished as running back twelve in
[18:16] Speaker 3: points per game. Travis H. Chan was running back thirty three,
[18:19] Speaker 3: finishes running back thirteen in points per game. But you know,
[18:22] Speaker 3: you can kind of dive into why those things are
[18:26] Speaker 3: the case pretty easily in that, like Javonte was coming
[18:29] Speaker 3: off a down season owning the backfield in Denver, and
[18:32] Speaker 3: we weren't really drafting any of the other guys in
[18:34] Speaker 3: that backfield. And then you know, Travis A. Chan was
[18:36] Speaker 3: also coming off an injured season that was down, and
[18:39] Speaker 3: then you know, we get a little hyped with again
[18:42] Speaker 3: a large person of summer was Tank Bigsby and also
[18:44] Speaker 3: Bachil Tuton, and then it's kind of like a three
[18:46] Speaker 3: person and.
[18:47] Speaker 1: Jayden Blue if we're being like he had, he had
[18:49] Speaker 1: a pretty decent ADP and it wasn't like so so
[18:52] Speaker 1: far off of Javante.
[18:53] Speaker 3: You know.
[18:54] Speaker 1: But yeah, I agree, I do think, you know, loping
[18:57] Speaker 1: back to the news items stuff, I do think that
[18:59] Speaker 1: unders standing which beats you can you can trust and
[19:02] Speaker 1: not just like be wary of the aggregators too.
[19:06] Speaker 2: I think that's that's important, you know, when they're not.
[19:08] Speaker 3: I say one more thing on this too, Like, I
[19:10] Speaker 3: think the other difficult aspect of this time of the
[19:13] Speaker 3: year is figuring out which injuries matter and which ones don't.
[19:16] Speaker 3: And that is goes all through the summer too, Like
[19:19] Speaker 3: we get hyper fixated on certain injuries like Malik Davers. Yeah,
[19:24] Speaker 3: and every report and every sentence, I mean I would
[19:28] Speaker 3: even say sentences get aggregated. Yes, that maybe the person
[19:32] Speaker 3: who's writing them didn't want us to read into the
[19:34] Speaker 3: exact words that we're used precisely. But then, you know,
[19:39] Speaker 3: I don't think anyone talked about the Stanley Porta injury
[19:42] Speaker 3: as much, and like now both are fine, you know.
[19:45] Speaker 3: Like again, listing all the neighbor stuff in the timeline
[19:49] Speaker 3: was awful, but then it just switched on like a
[19:51] Speaker 3: Sunday and run on and company all said, oh, actually
[19:54] Speaker 3: he's not even going to start the preseason on the
[19:57] Speaker 3: pup list. Yeah, yeah, this shock my world. And that
[20:00] Speaker 3: is one of those cases where for us trying to
[20:05] Speaker 3: send information to the people out there, I feel like
[20:10] Speaker 3: we were in the right to kind of interpret again
[20:14] Speaker 3: the timeline, the clean up surgery, all that type of stuff,
[20:17] Speaker 3: and share a warning, but then as soon as oh,
[20:20] Speaker 3: he's actually practicing and he's practicing at nearly top speed,
[20:23] Speaker 3: you then have to totally change your tune. Yeah, and
[20:27] Speaker 3: it sounds like a double standard or talking out of
[20:29] Speaker 3: both sides of your mouth. But at the same time,
[20:32] Speaker 3: like I'm trying to update my opinion and yes, it's
[20:34] Speaker 3: in real time. And then now, I hope you don't
[20:36] Speaker 3: go watch this video I made seven weeks ago and
[20:38] Speaker 3: now just do the one that I did seven hours again.
[20:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, but I think it's important though, to
[20:43] Speaker 1: like establish that with your audience too, of like, I mean,
[20:45] Speaker 1: they know that with you at this point that we
[20:48] Speaker 1: get new we get more information, we change our priors,
[20:51] Speaker 1: you know, we change the way that we feel about
[20:53] Speaker 1: about players and situations and such. That's what scientists do,
[20:56] Speaker 1: That's what that's what smart people do. You're open to
[21:00] Speaker 1: changing your opinion, and you, unfortunately on social media see
[21:04] Speaker 1: people doing the opposite all the time, and it just
[21:07] Speaker 1: gets obnoxious. And I don't think you know, I think
[21:09] Speaker 1: that people listen to you and Hayden hopefully are listening
[21:11] Speaker 1: to me because you know, we're just being truthful. You know,
[21:14] Speaker 1: it's just the honest take that we have at that moment,
[21:17] Speaker 1: and we can only work with what we're working with.
[21:19] Speaker 1: But speak of neighbors, like, yes, I was cautious, of course,
[21:24] Speaker 1: you know, we had no idea what the heck was
[21:25] Speaker 1: going on, and I didn't want to say, yeah, draft
[21:27] Speaker 1: them where you would draft neighbors, because obviously there's there's
[21:31] Speaker 1: this knee issue, But where are you at with neighbors,
[21:34] Speaker 1: because it's obviously impacted as ADP. Where are you at
[21:37] Speaker 1: with neighbors? Are you in or you out? Where he's now,
[21:41] Speaker 1: let's say like mid third if he goes mid third
[21:43] Speaker 1: or early third.
[21:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, and even on Yahoo he's so late third. Yeah,
[21:47] Speaker 3: So there's still some diary to be had there. Yeah. Previously,
[21:51] Speaker 3: when we didn't know what the injury timeline was going
[21:53] Speaker 3: to be, he was going in I think the most
[21:56] Speaker 3: exciting area of wide receivers in the draft exactly, you know,
[22:00] Speaker 3: it was that Jalen Wattle in Mecha Buka, Save Flowers,
[22:04] Speaker 3: Lad Maconakie, Garrett Wilson, whatever order you want to do,
[22:06] Speaker 3: even like Terry McLaurin and all that stuff. And so
[22:10] Speaker 3: it's almost easier for me to draft him now than
[22:12] Speaker 3: it was then even though that price was later Yes,
[22:15] Speaker 3: because I was so excited about all those other names
[22:18] Speaker 3: and could easily tell myself the story of oh, it's
[22:22] Speaker 3: all positive buzz and this is why they can be
[22:26] Speaker 3: this year's X y Z. Versus Malik Dahbors, he's injured,
[22:30] Speaker 3: we don't know the timeline and now that he's not,
[22:32] Speaker 3: even if he's going earlier on clicking his name much
[22:34] Speaker 3: more often, and I'm kind of deciding how to rank
[22:37] Speaker 3: him versus Rare she Rice for example, and you know
[22:40] Speaker 3: where she Rice has just been unbelievable whenever he's on
[22:42] Speaker 3: the field and he's kind of doing his rehab in
[22:44] Speaker 3: real time. Goes back to the clips thing that you
[22:46] Speaker 3: said at the top. Not so great so far, but
[22:48] Speaker 3: again we have to realize he was in freaking jail
[22:51] Speaker 3: and rehabbing in jail. It doesn't seem real as well, well,
[22:55] Speaker 3: I mean it's but yeah, I mean, Molik Daghbors is
[22:59] Speaker 3: legit one of the top five to seven wide receiver
[23:01] Speaker 3: talents in the league. And getting that in the middle
[23:03] Speaker 3: of round three, early part of round three, the late
[23:05] Speaker 3: part of round three is exceptional. I know you can say,
[23:09] Speaker 3: like Jackson Dart had what forty eight percent something like that.
[23:12] Speaker 3: Of his production fantasy points last year were on the
[23:15] Speaker 3: ground or in the air. I can't remember what the
[23:17] Speaker 3: other side of it is anyways, I mean he only
[23:20] Speaker 3: played two quarters with with Miligue Gabers, so like, how
[23:23] Speaker 3: much can we lean on, Well, that's the only way
[23:25] Speaker 3: he can generate fantasy points, I would hope, and I
[23:27] Speaker 3: would assume that, you know, the more Mileague Neighbors is
[23:30] Speaker 3: out there, the more passing points Jackson Dart's gonna happen.
[23:34] Speaker 1: Yeah, I would imagine I've kind of drawn the line
[23:36] Speaker 1: with neighbors at like Drake London, Like I'm taking London
[23:39] Speaker 1: over Neighbors, you know.
[23:41] Speaker 3: Of course, and that means you're taking him over Nico
[23:43] Speaker 3: and picking.
[23:45] Speaker 1: I'm at least considering him, and you know what I mean,
[23:48] Speaker 1: Like it's not like a ranking him that way. I
[23:50] Speaker 1: think I still have him below a Nico, who I
[23:53] Speaker 1: think is just a stud player in general. And then
[23:55] Speaker 1: you know, Rashi Rice is one of the more difficult
[23:58] Speaker 1: things I think for fantasy analy because I don't think
[24:01] Speaker 1: he's nearly as good as he is in fantasy in
[24:03] Speaker 1: real life, you know, as an actual player, like very
[24:05] Speaker 1: limited player versus what he does for fantasy, right, but
[24:09] Speaker 1: we're playing the game, you know in the end, like, yes,
[24:12] Speaker 1: we're trying to win here, and we know how good
[24:15] Speaker 1: he is whenever, you know, he's active in playing, and
[24:17] Speaker 1: so like I do think that's the range where you know,
[24:20] Speaker 1: like I'll do the thing if I'm in like the
[24:22] Speaker 1: one oh two, you know, in Best Ball or something
[24:24] Speaker 1: like late second round and the two eleven, I'll click
[24:26] Speaker 1: neighbors to catch up a little bit because I'm with
[24:29] Speaker 1: you the you know, I know this is more of
[24:30] Speaker 1: a Best Ball take, but like I wasn't taking much
[24:32] Speaker 1: in the fourth round, which was a mistake in hindsight
[24:34] Speaker 1: obviously because he's going on higher now. But I also
[24:38] Speaker 1: see that like third and fourth round range is very
[24:40] Speaker 1: flat anyway, So I don't think the opportunity cast like
[24:43] Speaker 1: if you're missing out on Chris A Lave, you know,
[24:46] Speaker 1: it's like a it's like a chrysal Lave versus Luth
[24:48] Speaker 1: Burden type question, Like there's a very real scenario where
[24:52] Speaker 1: Luther Burden outscores Crystal Lave this year. You know, there's
[24:54] Speaker 1: a very real scenario where Tedero McMillan goes bonkers on
[24:58] Speaker 1: a thirty percent target chair in the off something and
[25:00] Speaker 1: he outscores a guy like a Lave And so I'm
[25:04] Speaker 1: not like as upset about like playing at Casious because
[25:06] Speaker 1: I think it was flat there. We just you know,
[25:08] Speaker 1: if you haven't been drafting Neighbors, you just really need
[25:11] Speaker 1: to hope that you can continue to get him at
[25:13] Speaker 1: like the two three turn instead of him going at
[25:15] Speaker 1: the one two turn or something like that, where a
[25:18] Speaker 1: healthy Neighbors probably would.
[25:19] Speaker 3: Go, you know, and I doubt he climbs much more,
[25:22] Speaker 3: yeah than like that three two three oh three area,
[25:25] Speaker 3: because I highly doubt he plays a single snap in preseason, Yeah,
[25:28] Speaker 3: you know exactly. So you know, the practice stuff can
[25:31] Speaker 3: only go so far versus someone seeing you know, a
[25:35] Speaker 3: forty yard catch and run touchdown. And if if that happens,
[25:38] Speaker 3: then you know, we're back into round two. Baby. Yeah. Yeah,
[25:41] Speaker 3: maybe I'm wrong, but I just think that that's where
[25:43] Speaker 3: the narrative plays out where he's gonna still settle in
[25:45] Speaker 3: the third round. And yeah, like the A Lave, aj Brown,
[25:50] Speaker 3: DeVante Smith area, as we're going to wind up with
[25:52] Speaker 3: Molie Giagbors for sure.
[25:54] Speaker 1: Another big thing happened this past week. Ricky piersoll out
[25:56] Speaker 1: for the year and once again doesn't hurt or doesn't
[26:00] Speaker 1: help me, that's for sure, because I was I was
[26:02] Speaker 1: into Pearsall and what he could do.
[26:04] Speaker 2: This season given situation. I thought he was.
[26:07] Speaker 1: I mean, I think Pearsall is a good player. I
[26:09] Speaker 1: thought that he you know, looked good last year, had
[26:13] Speaker 1: good peripherals last year.
[26:14] Speaker 2: But he's now done for the year.
[26:16] Speaker 1: So the obvious question is we have this age Deebo
[26:19] Speaker 1: Samuel coming in, and we have design strippling most one
[26:23] Speaker 1: of the more controversial rookies in this year's class, who
[26:26] Speaker 1: is going to more than likely get opportunity.
[26:28] Speaker 2: Where are you at with those wide receivers?
[26:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, just my final comment on Ricky Pearsall because you know,
[26:35] Speaker 3: the day before that came out, Harmon and I and
[26:38] Speaker 3: Hayden Yes recorded a thirty year wide receiver video where
[26:42] Speaker 3: we asked, are we going to be the boys who
[26:44] Speaker 3: cried wolf again on Ricky Pearsall and then Lily, Yeah,
[26:47] Speaker 3: we're telling people to do it to get and then
[26:49] Speaker 3: he gets injured. Yeah, well he didn't get injured. He
[26:51] Speaker 3: just you know, has to have surgery on what he
[26:53] Speaker 3: should have had surgery on before. Yeah. Anyways, I'm not
[26:56] Speaker 3: allowed to talk about Ricky pearsall until August tenth next year.
[26:58] Speaker 3: I've put my I think it's a good my cap
[27:00] Speaker 3: on that. Ye, okay, unstribbling, I'll ask you this. Yeah,
[27:04] Speaker 3: if it was let's say, any other draft fast that
[27:06] Speaker 3: just came into the league and the thirty third overall
[27:10] Speaker 3: pick was thrust it into a possible starting job and
[27:13] Speaker 3: his competition was a thirty two and thirty year old
[27:16] Speaker 3: wide receiver, like the Fantasy football bubble would be losing
[27:19] Speaker 3: their ADP minds. Yeah, and they're not on Deshawn's ribbling.
[27:23] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[27:23] Speaker 3: And it kind of goes back to as soon as
[27:25] Speaker 3: he was drafted thirty third to overall and shocked many
[27:27] Speaker 3: people because of that. I mean we even posted a
[27:30] Speaker 3: Dynasty rankings video and I was stunned to see he
[27:35] Speaker 3: was like the two o seven or the two of five.
[27:37] Speaker 3: And I don't want to like talk over you if
[27:38] Speaker 3: you had him in that area. Yeah, But like I
[27:41] Speaker 3: just didn't understand how like Nick Singleton was going at
[27:44] Speaker 3: the twelfth pick of the first round over someone like
[27:46] Speaker 3: Deshaun's tribling, And to me, that was like real anchoring
[27:50] Speaker 3: bias of well, this guy was productive in his first
[27:53] Speaker 3: stop in his all decline since then with Nickola Singleton
[27:56] Speaker 3: in his first year at Penn State versus Shribbling who
[27:58] Speaker 3: was an older prospect and travel to bed And at
[28:02] Speaker 3: the same time, man, I don't want to say, let's
[28:05] Speaker 3: just implicitly trust Kyle Shanahan, but at least the dude's
[28:08] Speaker 3: gonna get an opportunity. And I remember when Branda Yuk
[28:12] Speaker 3: first got into leak and he was even the late
[28:14] Speaker 3: first round pick, and the reason he rode the bench
[28:16] Speaker 3: for so long was because, well, now maybe we see
[28:19] Speaker 3: with the attitude and his lack of blocking effort and
[28:22] Speaker 3: all that type of stuff, I thought Stribling has a
[28:25] Speaker 3: chance of being like the best blocker coming out of school,
[28:28] Speaker 3: coming into this class. And so if he like checks
[28:30] Speaker 3: these boxes and who knows, because he's injured on the
[28:32] Speaker 3: sideline at this point, I think I'm just way more
[28:36] Speaker 3: optimistic on Deshaun's ribbling than a lot of other people are.
[28:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'll say this analytically doesn't look great,
[28:41] Speaker 1: you know. You know, even if you just look at
[28:44] Speaker 1: like something as basic as like career yards per out run,
[28:47] Speaker 1: it's like well below any sort of threshold that you
[28:50] Speaker 1: would want for a typical guy to hit zap model.
[28:53] Speaker 1: Definitely didn't love him, like I was actually looking back
[28:56] Speaker 1: because Cyrus Allen's another guy who's getting a ton of
[28:58] Speaker 1: love right now, right. And I didn't actually do any
[29:01] Speaker 1: profile right up for Allan because he didn't get invited
[29:03] Speaker 1: to the Combine. He was a snub, right And I've
[29:05] Speaker 1: I've kind of limited myself for the Guide every year
[29:08] Speaker 1: to only write up players who get invited to Combine.
[29:11] Speaker 1: And so I actually still had Cyrus Allen ranked as
[29:14] Speaker 1: a top four round rookie pick after the draft was over.
[29:17] Speaker 1: I you know, you look at the prospect aid, like
[29:19] Speaker 1: you see his name there, but I gave his score,
[29:22] Speaker 1: but there's no profile right up for him. So I
[29:23] Speaker 1: didn't do the same kind of deep dive with Cyrus
[29:26] Speaker 1: Allen until you know, basically June, because there's a lot
[29:29] Speaker 1: of stuff going on in May, right after the draft
[29:31] Speaker 1: is over. And I actually think that like Cyrus Allen's
[29:34] Speaker 1: analytical profile, if you were to just look at it
[29:36] Speaker 1: straight up versus design striplings, is better than striplings, like
[29:39] Speaker 1: like there's better age justin production. You know, you can
[29:42] Speaker 1: at least like very clearly see how he was deployed
[29:45] Speaker 1: in college. You know, a lot of slot work for Allen,
[29:48] Speaker 1: but he got down the field and you could see
[29:49] Speaker 1: how that would mesh with Kansas City. Now, when Stripling
[29:53] Speaker 1: came out, I was trying to be a voice of
[29:55] Speaker 1: reason in like the middle shocker, but trying to trying
[30:00] Speaker 1: to not throw out you know, I'm trying to like
[30:02] Speaker 1: think through this and not wanting to like take a
[30:04] Speaker 1: crazy stand on something that I just don't think that
[30:07] Speaker 1: we should take crazy stands on.
[30:08] Speaker 3: You.
[30:08] Speaker 2: I feel like you're about to say something here about
[30:10] Speaker 2: about me here.
[30:10] Speaker 3: No, no, no, it's just you know, on the fence, Zacharison.
[30:13] Speaker 3: You know that we love him.
[30:16] Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
[30:17] Speaker 3: I'm just kidding.
[30:17] Speaker 1: But like I was doing, I was doing a lot
[30:20] Speaker 1: of analysis on like reaches, right like this isn't this
[30:24] Speaker 1: is objective data. This is not like some subjective like
[30:28] Speaker 1: I'm trying to like feel the vibes of what the
[30:30] Speaker 1: community was saying pre impost draft. No, I'm looking at
[30:33] Speaker 1: at hard data of mock draft aggregate data and saying
[30:36] Speaker 1: when we see reaches like this with the stribbling, that
[30:39] Speaker 1: the outcomes are generally pretty poor, like like you know,
[30:42] Speaker 1: it's it's not great and when you see the opposite
[30:44] Speaker 1: happen where a guy falls in the draft, that's also
[30:47] Speaker 1: not that great either, generally, because that's telling us that
[30:50] Speaker 1: multiple teams are passing on you know, Like Troy Franklin's
[30:52] Speaker 1: a really good example of that, where it's like he
[30:54] Speaker 1: was a mock draft second round pick and then he
[30:56] Speaker 1: goes Day three and all of a sudden, you know,
[30:59] Speaker 1: I think that you know, at this point in his career,
[31:01] Speaker 1: we're not sitting there being like eager to draft Troy Franklin. Right,
[31:05] Speaker 1: So with this un shribbling, you know, all of the
[31:08] Speaker 1: reach stuff was really unfavorable for him, The analytical profile
[31:11] Speaker 1: was really unfavorable for him. And I feel very similar
[31:14] Speaker 1: to like a because this wide receiver class, in my opinion,
[31:17] Speaker 1: was just not very good. And yeah, and there was
[31:20] Speaker 1: just a lot of guys instead of like a lot
[31:22] Speaker 1: of like guys that you could really latch onto and say, oh,
[31:25] Speaker 1: this guy's going to be a really like you know,
[31:26] Speaker 1: like I loved Luther Burden last year in round two.
[31:29] Speaker 1: There was no Round two or round three player that
[31:31] Speaker 1: like had this like can't miss profile. And as a
[31:34] Speaker 1: result of that, when I did my my rookie rankings,
[31:38] Speaker 1: it's just.
[31:38] Speaker 2: Like so much flatness.
[31:39] Speaker 1: It's just choose what you kind of want to do
[31:41] Speaker 1: and you can read the profiles that I wrote up
[31:43] Speaker 1: and kind of go from there. As I've been thinking
[31:46] Speaker 1: about Stribbling, though, the more the more I've thought about him,
[31:50] Speaker 1: the more I bought into this idea. Number One, I
[31:54] Speaker 1: agree him being a late round pick the way that
[31:56] Speaker 1: he is, why would you not take a chance regardless
[31:59] Speaker 1: of profile, you know, regardless of what. But you can
[32:02] Speaker 1: look at as you can see some of the physicality
[32:05] Speaker 1: even in the numbers with his profile, because he did
[32:09] Speaker 1: have some good yack ability, and that yak ability is
[32:12] Speaker 1: something that we've seen Shanahan's system receivers thrive in, right,
[32:18] Speaker 1: And I think that's what's been the turning point for
[32:20] Speaker 1: me over the last month with Stribbling. I was kind
[32:22] Speaker 1: of starting to draft him before the pearsall stuff started
[32:24] Speaker 1: to happen. And so there's like regrets on one end
[32:27] Speaker 1: for me of like, you know, going back to what
[32:28] Speaker 1: we were talking about earlier about changing opinions and stuff,
[32:30] Speaker 1: I wish I was a little bit higher on him
[32:32] Speaker 1: back in May, you know, wish I maybe got more
[32:34] Speaker 1: in rookie I got some more and rookie drafts, But
[32:36] Speaker 1: now I think he's actually a pretty good double digit
[32:38] Speaker 1: round dart throw Where go after it, see what happens
[32:42] Speaker 1: if you're wrong.
[32:42] Speaker 2: Not a big deal.
[32:43] Speaker 1: I probably wouldn't go crazy in dynasty just because the
[32:46] Speaker 1: you know, the backbone of the analytical profile is not fantastic.
[32:48] Speaker 1: But guys like this, even if he has like an
[32:51] Speaker 1: okay enough rookie season, you can see that value increasy
[32:54] Speaker 1: year over year.
[32:55] Speaker 3: Still number of things to hit on there, you know.
[32:58] Speaker 3: So often we hear the term upside talked about with
[33:00] Speaker 3: just best ball, and it's like you can take the
[33:02] Speaker 3: big swings because the best scar happens and is given
[33:05] Speaker 3: to you every single week, when in reality, I think
[33:08] Speaker 3: like swing for upside in your redraft leagues is equally
[33:11] Speaker 3: as important, if not more and more. Yeah, yeah, right,
[33:14] Speaker 3: because think about the end of your season, how much
[33:18] Speaker 3: roster turnover there is. You also like, don't get zero's
[33:22] Speaker 3: in redraftuh, you can put someone in instead. So yeah,
[33:27] Speaker 3: striggling to me is a great shout, and it's for
[33:29] Speaker 3: a lot of the reasons that you outlined. There were
[33:32] Speaker 3: so many occasions where it felt like two defenders had
[33:35] Speaker 3: to like be on his back for him to go
[33:37] Speaker 3: to the ground. It's exactly what you mentioned with the
[33:39] Speaker 3: yards of catch stuff. And then his final season played
[33:41] Speaker 3: at Ole Miss where it's kind of the same thing
[33:44] Speaker 3: with the Trey Harris profile where and that was with
[33:47] Speaker 3: Jackson Dart, you know, and I know Trinidad Chambliss is.
[33:50] Speaker 3: You know, he might not go exactly where Jackson Dart
[33:52] Speaker 3: did in the draft anyways, but that one, everything's like
[33:55] Speaker 3: so on a string and so on a line that
[33:57] Speaker 3: you don't get like the full route profile or even
[34:00] Speaker 3: that many inbreakers on top of it, and I think
[34:02] Speaker 3: like that can kind of distort some not just stats,
[34:05] Speaker 3: but eye tests and all that type of stuff. So
[34:07] Speaker 3: I'm definitely not sitting here and saying that deshauns Stribbling
[34:09] Speaker 3: is a flawless prospect. Ye, But like you said, everyone
[34:12] Speaker 3: that was drafted after Round one had flaws. It just
[34:16] Speaker 3: felt like those flaws were more accepting than Dejeon's stribblings
[34:20] Speaker 3: at the same time, like id Ricky Piersall's wide receiver
[34:22] Speaker 3: thirty five, Pardo's injury scribbling at wide receiver sixty. It's
[34:27] Speaker 3: not like I'm going to move Stribbling up to wide
[34:28] Speaker 3: receiver thirty five, right, you know I'm probably going to
[34:31] Speaker 3: move them up ten spots so around like watersever fifty.
[34:34] Speaker 3: And now that's battling like Xavier Worthy for example. Yep.
[34:39] Speaker 3: And this might be an outline of statement, and we'll
[34:42] Speaker 3: talk about it maybe later, but I want to take
[34:45] Speaker 3: the game on Deshaun' stribbling over Xavier Worthy this year.
[34:48] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I mean I can get behind it too.
[34:50] Speaker 1: I think that's at least like the grouping and the tier,
[34:52] Speaker 1: It's like, you know, there's there's other upside bets, but
[34:55] Speaker 1: those upside bets are are also very questionable because they
[34:58] Speaker 1: haven't really shown anything. I'm to this point, are you
[35:01] Speaker 1: debo over shribbling or are you fading debo?
[35:05] Speaker 3: Is it?
[35:05] Speaker 1: Like? I mean, like I ask, how do you see
[35:08] Speaker 1: him fit in? We've obviously seen it.
[35:10] Speaker 3: We've seen it.
[35:10] Speaker 1: He wasn't there, right, but you know he's not the
[35:12] Speaker 1: same debo that he was five years ago.
[35:15] Speaker 3: Yeah. Admittedly I was actually a big debo guy this
[35:17] Speaker 3: time last year, and I felt really good through the
[35:19] Speaker 3: first five games. Yeah, I mean he opened the season
[35:22] Speaker 3: in half PPR as waters here five twenty one, twelve
[35:25] Speaker 3: and six. Yeah, and for the opening five games, and
[35:28] Speaker 3: then I think he missed a contest and then just
[35:30] Speaker 3: went downhill from there. I have him like eight or
[35:34] Speaker 3: ten spots after shriveling here. It might be one of
[35:37] Speaker 3: those cases that we see again the peak of debot.
[35:41] Speaker 3: In the first five weeks, the veteran gets most of
[35:43] Speaker 3: the work, you feel like it's going really well, and
[35:46] Speaker 3: then once the bye week hits or as the season
[35:48] Speaker 3: goes along, that's when, like the Luther Burdens stuff last year,
[35:51] Speaker 3: that's when you know the the rookie emerges and settles
[35:55] Speaker 3: in and they figure out exactly how to use them
[35:57] Speaker 3: in what situations and all that type of stuff. So overall, though,
[36:00] Speaker 3: if we just keep moving all of these forty nine
[36:03] Speaker 3: ers down other than CMC, like what is that telling us?
[36:06] Speaker 3: Like I've moved Mike Evans down in the last couple
[36:08] Speaker 3: of weeks too.
[36:08] Speaker 2: The injury Like what.
[36:11] Speaker 3: That's not a good thing for our team. And at
[36:14] Speaker 3: the same time, you can say, well, they all get
[36:17] Speaker 3: injured last year and still look where brock Party played
[36:19] Speaker 3: and finished on a weekly basis. And obviously I was
[36:22] Speaker 3: a huge advocate for CMC last summer, but one of
[36:25] Speaker 3: the main reasons why I was drafting so many forty
[36:27] Speaker 3: nine ers last year is because they had the easiest
[36:30] Speaker 3: schedule across the league, like the easiest schedule. That's not
[36:33] Speaker 3: the case this year, right, So they'll probably run into
[36:37] Speaker 3: a lot more difficult matchups with maybe weaken talent. And
[36:41] Speaker 3: I still think Shanny is awesome, but it's gonna be
[36:45] Speaker 3: tougher this year than it wasn't.
[36:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I think it's a good take.
[36:49] Speaker 1: We also saw Stefan Diggs become a Washington Commander, which
[36:54] Speaker 1: wasn't really a shock reading between the lines. This was
[36:57] Speaker 1: more than likely coming. But where are you at with him?
[36:59] Speaker 1: I think this is one of the more interesting cases
[37:00] Speaker 1: in fantasy right now.
[37:03] Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean what he's coming off the thousand yard
[37:05] Speaker 3: season that he barely played half the offensive snaps with
[37:08] Speaker 3: the New England Patriots, and that was when he was
[37:11] Speaker 3: also rehabbing a torn acl all off season, and he
[37:15] Speaker 3: doesn't have any of those things now, like he's healthy
[37:16] Speaker 3: coming into this year. Yeah, I'm excited for what this
[37:19] Speaker 3: Washing Commander's offense can be. Everything we're hearing about David
[37:22] Speaker 3: Blow in comparison to Cliff Kingsbury are exact opposites like
[37:26] Speaker 3: Cliff and Jane Daniels had an awesome first season together.
[37:31] Speaker 3: But then as you know, like Terry played seventy four
[37:36] Speaker 3: percent of snaps as like a left wide receiver, they
[37:39] Speaker 3: were last in the league in motion or close to
[37:41] Speaker 3: it and play action, and so everything got stale in
[37:45] Speaker 3: year two and it just seems like they want to
[37:47] Speaker 3: be a bit more traditional, Like I hope they don't
[37:49] Speaker 3: totally lean into that because I think that'll you know,
[37:52] Speaker 3: massive with the great things that Jane Daniels does. But
[37:55] Speaker 3: I mean that's great news for someone like Stefan Dicks,
[37:57] Speaker 3: who's like an outside to inside type player. Some of
[38:00] Speaker 3: the best work that he did with the Houston Texans
[38:01] Speaker 3: was in the slot. The same thing with the Patriots,
[38:03] Speaker 3: all that type of stuff. So yeah, I mean, I'm
[38:07] Speaker 3: willing to draft steph On Dicks. I think I have
[38:08] Speaker 3: him as wide receiver forty yep now. But what it
[38:11] Speaker 3: made me do was actually dropped because I was super
[38:13] Speaker 3: high on Terry, like so high on Terry, yeah, I was,
[38:15] Speaker 3: And it made me drop him like two or three
[38:18] Speaker 3: wide receiver spots. But even in that area, man, like
[38:21] Speaker 3: every every ranking matters, yes, yeah, and that what fifth
[38:25] Speaker 3: from him.
[38:25] Speaker 1: I feel like I jumble those wide receivers up every
[38:28] Speaker 1: single week when I'm up here.
[38:29] Speaker 2: You know, it's like, oh, I can see the case
[38:31] Speaker 2: for you know, T Mac or whatever.
[38:33] Speaker 1: But yeah, I love I love digs in Washington, Man
[38:36] Speaker 1: because ye last year in New England, you know, like
[38:40] Speaker 1: you said, he barely played, like he didn't play a
[38:42] Speaker 1: normal you know, company of snaps, and you know, he
[38:45] Speaker 1: was like ranked seventieth ish, you know, sixty to seventieth
[38:48] Speaker 1: in route share, you know, like a seventy percent route
[38:50] Speaker 1: share across the season. And then when you would see
[38:53] Speaker 1: remember that game against Buffalo where he would just went nuts,
[38:56] Speaker 1: and it was a game where they finally unleashed him
[38:58] Speaker 1: and used him on a high num routes and he
[39:00] Speaker 1: just went absolutely bonkers because his targets per out run
[39:03] Speaker 1: rate was over twenty four percent, you know, depending on
[39:06] Speaker 1: your source, he was top ten in yards per out run.
[39:08] Speaker 1: I mean, like he was great when he was running
[39:10] Speaker 1: those routes. And I think the difference with New England
[39:13] Speaker 1: and Washington number one, you nailed it the ACL recovery,
[39:16] Speaker 1: which I feel like no one's talking about right now,
[39:18] Speaker 1: and that could play a role as to why he
[39:19] Speaker 1: wasn't playing as much. But number two I would argue
[39:22] Speaker 1: that New England at least had some interesting pieces other
[39:25] Speaker 1: wide receivers that certainly weren't like established by any means,
[39:29] Speaker 1: but could at least, you know, like you can use
[39:31] Speaker 1: Pop Douglas in the slot, and you could, you know,
[39:33] Speaker 1: throw Kyle Williams out there on the outside to stretch
[39:36] Speaker 1: the fielder Kaysehawan.
[39:36] Speaker 2: Booty or who you know, whatever the case may be.
[39:39] Speaker 1: And I look at Washington right now, and there is
[39:41] Speaker 1: such inexperienced slash question marks outside of Terry McLaurin that
[39:47] Speaker 1: I don't think we're gonna have the questions about route
[39:49] Speaker 1: share with Stefan Diggs there, you know, like and imagine
[39:52] Speaker 1: a world where he's running eighty ninety percent of the
[39:55] Speaker 1: team's a rout on ninety percent of the team's dropbacks.
[39:57] Speaker 1: I mean, he could go nuts, Like I I have
[40:00] Speaker 1: him thirty wide receiver thirty nine right now, and I
[40:03] Speaker 1: think the market I would anticipate Adp at least being
[40:07] Speaker 1: slow to catch up number one, But number two, I
[40:09] Speaker 1: don't think he's gonna end up in the home leagues
[40:10] Speaker 1: and stuff and season long leagues. I don't think he'll
[40:12] Speaker 1: end up going that high, you know, like I'm drafting
[40:14] Speaker 1: him over someone like Courtland Sutton right now. You know,
[40:16] Speaker 1: like I I think that it's a more intriguing situation
[40:20] Speaker 1: and there's less competition, and I don't you know, like
[40:23] Speaker 1: they're they're not that far off in age, and really,
[40:27] Speaker 1: Digs peripherals have been better than what we've seen from Sutton,
[40:30] Speaker 1: you know, sudden. Sutton to me has just been the
[40:31] Speaker 1: perennial like guy who doesn't have crazy upside. He's just
[40:35] Speaker 1: fine whatever. But Diggs, I can see a scenario where
[40:37] Speaker 1: like he does inch into wide receiver two range in
[40:39] Speaker 1: full PPR formats.
[40:41] Speaker 3: I just made that change. I had Sutton one spot
[40:43] Speaker 3: above and so I just moved.
[40:44] Speaker 2: Takes about we're both at wide receiver thirty nine.
[40:46] Speaker 3: It's perfect, Yeah, But then it gets to the interesting
[40:49] Speaker 3: territory of like the two names I have ahead of
[40:52] Speaker 3: Diggs right now are Jordan Addison and Jordan Tyson, right yeah,
[40:55] Speaker 3: and like you get you get the ass and stuff
[40:57] Speaker 3: with Kler Murray, the down for passing, getting back to
[40:59] Speaker 3: KOC you know, Jordan Tyson, Hey, what is he with
[41:03] Speaker 3: Tyer Shock? What is he with Kellen Moore? Who you know,
[41:06] Speaker 3: fastest paced in the league, most plays in the league.
[41:09] Speaker 3: Like that's that's really enticing. But then like behind him,
[41:12] Speaker 3: it's now Sutton and Chris Godwin among some other names. Yeah,
[41:16] Speaker 3: so yeah, it's it's it's the veterans to discuss. Yeah,
[41:19] Speaker 3: I just went through all the snap counts. Last season
[41:21] Speaker 3: for the Patriots, Mac Collins played more snaps than Stefan
[41:24] Speaker 3: Diggs in every single game. Yeah.
[41:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot.
[41:26] Speaker 1: I've totally for like, every time I talk about the Patriots,
[41:29] Speaker 1: always forget about Mac Collins being being part of that
[41:32] Speaker 1: every single game.
[41:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, every game.
[41:34] Speaker 2: It's crazy.
[41:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, this is the perfect spot. Now. I
[41:37] Speaker 3: was also drafting a ton of chig like I was. Yeah,
[41:42] Speaker 3: he was my most drafted player at points this summer. Yeah,
[41:45] Speaker 3: I mean I was talking to myself into, hey, can
[41:48] Speaker 3: he be David Blouse san Laporta. They're around the same size.
[41:51] Speaker 3: I thought Ben Johnson did an awesome job of kind
[41:54] Speaker 3: of masking some of the size and blocking deficiencies of
[41:57] Speaker 3: sand Laporta a little bit. And you know, I think
[42:00] Speaker 3: David Blow was the practice squad quarterback during that time
[42:04] Speaker 3: on the Lions. When Sam la Porta finishes the tight
[42:06] Speaker 3: end one. I could have my timelines wrong with something
[42:08] Speaker 3: like that. Yeah, and so might happen. It's just not
[42:12] Speaker 3: as possible for Chig to now be, you know, second
[42:16] Speaker 3: in targets on a team, which is like when we
[42:20] Speaker 3: talk about tight end breakouts so often, it's because those
[42:23] Speaker 3: guys become like the funnel second pass catcher on their roster,
[42:27] Speaker 3: and it just doesn't seem like that's the pathway.
[42:29] Speaker 2: Agreed.
[42:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I had him as a dart throw
[42:30] Speaker 1: in the guide this year, and I don't think that
[42:33] Speaker 1: I can necessarily have that anymore. It's funny because I
[42:36] Speaker 1: have McLaurin as a target and I'm gonna have Digs
[42:38] Speaker 1: as a target. And yeah, clearly there's you know, a
[42:40] Speaker 1: theme going on there. Speaking of players that are being
[42:44] Speaker 1: hyped right now, I guess that was a pretty bad
[42:46] Speaker 1: segue because weren't really talking about hyper player.
[42:48] Speaker 3: That the most vanilla segue I'd of my life.
[42:55] Speaker 2: Let's talk about Luther Birden. Yes, are you buying the coach? Like?
[43:00] Speaker 2: Where are you at with this? With this trio of
[43:03] Speaker 2: players in Chicago?
[43:05] Speaker 3: Well, I love them all, and so that makes it
[43:07] Speaker 3: difficult because you know the Twitter fights that happen all summer.
[43:12] Speaker 3: You have to pick one.
[43:13] Speaker 2: No, no, you have to. I like them all a
[43:15] Speaker 2: fantasy analyst.
[43:17] Speaker 3: I think I have them all ranked above ADP, but
[43:22] Speaker 3: that doesn't mean I have them ranked higher than any
[43:24] Speaker 3: other analysts. Does that make sense? Yeah, of course, Like
[43:27] Speaker 3: you know, Harmon and Hayden on the show this week
[43:30] Speaker 3: or last week are now ranking Rome with Dunesay ahead
[43:33] Speaker 3: straight up of Luther Burton, and I can't go there.
[43:35] Speaker 3: At the same time, I can say, hey, Rome, so
[43:39] Speaker 3: many of the downfield catches and every single like fifty
[43:44] Speaker 3: to fifty situation, it was like fingertips. The ball just
[43:47] Speaker 3: went off the variants wasn't on the side. I think
[43:50] Speaker 3: his body controls awesome out routes, the downfield routes, all
[43:53] Speaker 3: that type of stuff that if that hits and he's
[43:56] Speaker 3: on the right side of variants this year, then boom.
[43:58] Speaker 3: It's it's easy to see. At the same time, I
[44:01] Speaker 3: look at it and Luther Burton his a dots like
[44:04] Speaker 3: half that, and so often we think, oh, well, the
[44:07] Speaker 3: guy's running the big downfield posts and nine routes. That's
[44:11] Speaker 3: what we want in fantasy football, like those big explosive plays.
[44:14] Speaker 3: That's what we're chasing no, man, we want the gimmes, you.
[44:18] Speaker 2: Know what, the scammers man.
[44:19] Speaker 3: Yes, and especially we want the gimmes to the guys
[44:22] Speaker 3: that are like generational with the ball in their hands
[44:24] Speaker 3: exactly exactly, and that's Luther Burton. And we also want
[44:27] Speaker 3: that when it's tied to a coach that does probably
[44:31] Speaker 3: more than anyone else a better job of manufacturing space
[44:34] Speaker 3: or the players that are awesome with the ball in
[44:36] Speaker 3: their hands, and that is Luther Burton. So like, I
[44:39] Speaker 3: totally get that. Maybe we're drafting him at his quote
[44:43] Speaker 3: unquote you know, top price and that's the middle of
[44:46] Speaker 3: fifth round on Yahoo, and I know in Best Ball
[44:49] Speaker 3: what that's the mill of the fourth round basically. Yeah,
[44:52] Speaker 3: but when I'm on the clock, man, I'll still click
[44:54] Speaker 3: it every once in a while. Yeah, you know, it's
[44:57] Speaker 3: not a price tag. And we'll talk about some wide
[44:58] Speaker 3: receivers later on that. Like, yeah, I like him well
[45:01] Speaker 3: above everyone else in this tier. For him, I just
[45:04] Speaker 3: want pieces, I just want options, yeah, because he is
[45:07] Speaker 3: one of these players that has such stark and stand
[45:13] Speaker 3: out positives and where he wins elements to his game
[45:16] Speaker 3: on a coach that maximizes those exactly that if he
[45:19] Speaker 3: just improves the other aspects to him, like some of
[45:21] Speaker 3: the bad drops last year, or these digs and inbreakers
[45:25] Speaker 3: and winning in one on one isolation routes that he
[45:27] Speaker 3: grew into last year, and like, hey, if Kayleb Williams
[45:31] Speaker 3: doesn't become just a totally errant passer on these fifteen
[45:34] Speaker 3: twenty plus yards throws on the field and becomes like
[45:37] Speaker 3: average at that that we could be looking at like
[45:39] Speaker 3: a awesome, awesome player.
[45:42] Speaker 2: So does that model loved Luther Burden.
[45:44] Speaker 1: Like I even wrote in his profile when it came
[45:46] Speaker 1: out that if the ZA model had a baby, he'd
[45:48] Speaker 1: probably name it Luthor. Like it it was crazy, Like
[45:50] Speaker 1: his score even right now, I think, was.
[45:52] Speaker 3: I pitch it to my wife? She said no, yeah, yeah, yeah,
[45:55] Speaker 3: there you go.
[45:56] Speaker 1: Like even now I updated the model scores and stuff,
[45:58] Speaker 1: and like his score is ahead of despite draft capital,
[46:01] Speaker 1: which is obviously gonna get weight, is still ahead of
[46:04] Speaker 1: like T MAC and Abuka, and it likes T Mac
[46:06] Speaker 1: and Abuka. Like it just looked at Burden as like, oh,
[46:08] Speaker 1: you got like a ninety ninth percentile breakout scorer, and
[46:11] Speaker 1: like things just look so good analytically, you know, admittedly
[46:14] Speaker 1: I wish I was even more aggressive with them last year,
[46:17] Speaker 1: of course, just given where things are at right now.
[46:20] Speaker 1: But that's the thing with me, is that like there's
[46:21] Speaker 1: this backbone of him. This isn't like a random day
[46:25] Speaker 1: three wise. This isn't like if Cyrus Allen comes through
[46:28] Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six with a two and a half
[46:30] Speaker 1: yards per hour run rate.
[46:31] Speaker 2: You know, there's a player that was really really good.
[46:34] Speaker 1: As a prospect and was I think underdrafted because of
[46:37] Speaker 1: maybe some off the field concerns.
[46:39] Speaker 3: His final year at Missouri was was not consistent at.
[46:41] Speaker 2: All, right, right right, And I like, look, I found it.
[46:44] Speaker 1: I talked about this when he came out, Like I've
[46:46] Speaker 1: found that peak season is much more important than final season.
[46:49] Speaker 1: You know, Jackson Smith and Jigbo is the same way.
[46:51] Speaker 1: His peak season was much different than his final season,
[46:53] Speaker 1: you know, Juju Smith Schuster I think was another one.
[46:55] Speaker 3: But Tedora McMillan was like that too, yeah, right.
[46:58] Speaker 1: Right, And so like, I think that's an important like
[47:00] Speaker 1: if you see it in college at that kind of peak,
[47:02] Speaker 1: it's at a younger age, it's very very important.
[47:04] Speaker 2: And so I do remember and I said this on.
[47:07] Speaker 1: A show last night, and chat was was spamming me
[47:11] Speaker 1: nasty things because it's kind of an insane pig. But
[47:14] Speaker 1: every you know, every like January February, Harmon and I
[47:18] Speaker 1: do a lot of texting about wide receiver prospects. Of course,
[47:21] Speaker 1: you know, he's interested to see what a Z model
[47:23] Speaker 1: might be saying, and I'm interested to see what he's charting.
[47:25] Speaker 1: And I remember pulling up initial comps for Luther Burden.
[47:28] Speaker 1: This is before draft capital was really inserted, and he
[47:32] Speaker 1: was more of like a mid first round pick when
[47:34] Speaker 1: you know, like there weren't you know, like he started dropping,
[47:37] Speaker 1: you know, as the draft process went. And one of
[47:40] Speaker 1: his comps and it didn't end up as one of
[47:42] Speaker 1: his comps because I partially didn't want to have to
[47:45] Speaker 1: explain it because comps are loose and it's just more
[47:48] Speaker 1: of like an archetype thing for me, and like, you know,
[47:50] Speaker 1: like how guys matched up size wise, analytically and so on.
[47:55] Speaker 2: One of his comps was Molik Neighbors.
[47:57] Speaker 1: And it's not to say that like I think that
[47:59] Speaker 1: that's but I do think that Burden is in if
[48:03] Speaker 1: you were to really widen that archetype of player, because
[48:06] Speaker 1: Neighbors and Jamar Chaser in that that archetype. DJ Moore
[48:10] Speaker 1: is like on the lower end of that arch of
[48:12] Speaker 1: like the really good players, you know, like on the
[48:14] Speaker 1: Lord Brandon Ayuk kind of in that as well, you know,
[48:17] Speaker 1: like Peak Ayuk. I think Luthor Burden can make a genuine,
[48:21] Speaker 1: genuine impact. I'm not saying he's Malik Neighbors. That's why
[48:24] Speaker 1: I hesitate even bringing this up, but I do think
[48:27] Speaker 1: there is this ceiling that is just on, like just
[48:29] Speaker 1: not talked about nearly enough. And like you said, there's
[48:32] Speaker 1: this merging of like what he does well and what
[48:34] Speaker 1: Ben Johnson does well, which is why I think we're
[48:36] Speaker 1: hearing the quotes of Ben Johnson talking about Luthor burdon
[48:38] Speaker 1: like it's his son.
[48:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's an ideal fit. It really was
[48:42] Speaker 3: like if you had any concerns, which something we're probably
[48:45] Speaker 3: warranted of the tail off, didn't you know, because he
[48:50] Speaker 3: was a lot of a slot player. I wouldn't call
[48:52] Speaker 3: him a slot only player, and probably a lot of
[48:54] Speaker 3: a slot player. And so yeah, I mean I understood
[48:56] Speaker 3: the questions out there. I just loved him, like just
[48:59] Speaker 3: when people moved to diferently it just like gravitates because
[49:01] Speaker 3: we watched so many of these players and they just
[49:03] Speaker 3: like look the same. And yeah, I'm sure in the
[49:05] Speaker 3: zapmanl like kind of look the same, and he did
[49:07] Speaker 3: not look the same.
[49:08] Speaker 1: You mean, like this year's wide receiver class just everyone's
[49:11] Speaker 1: just completely mid.
[49:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, everyone's just Jeremy Gallon over and over and over, like.
[49:17] Speaker 2: Well, look at this class.
[49:18] Speaker 1: I'm just like, can someone just stand out plase like
[49:20] Speaker 1: I love doing something, please, Like I like the big
[49:23] Speaker 1: four in this class, you know, up to concepts you own, like,
[49:25] Speaker 1: I think all four of them are really good. But
[49:27] Speaker 1: then after that, I was just like, man, I just
[49:29] Speaker 1: need a little bit more from you know, Boston.
[49:31] Speaker 2: Was fine and Cooper was fine, but.
[49:33] Speaker 1: A lot of those like mid Day, two Day three
[49:35] Speaker 1: guys was just it's just the same kind of thing
[49:37] Speaker 1: over and over again. Man.
[49:38] Speaker 3: You know. Now, with all that said about Burton, I
[49:41] Speaker 3: also think Luther burn is on the fast track to
[49:43] Speaker 3: being the first or second or third best tied in
[49:46] Speaker 3: the NFL. And especially when they go heavier personnel looks,
[49:51] Speaker 3: I understand that a lot of it's going to be
[49:53] Speaker 3: with two wide receivers still in the field, right, But
[49:55] Speaker 3: and again, whatever underlying metrics you want to find you
[49:58] Speaker 3: can find them, especially in certain personnel gros whatever. They
[50:01] Speaker 3: did play three tight ends, and you know they go
[50:04] Speaker 3: out and draft a pure blocker basically, I think in
[50:07] Speaker 3: Sam Roush, so maybe they'll do more of that this year.
[50:10] Speaker 3: His his yards per route run were just it was
[50:14] Speaker 3: four point six to six and then had fifty three
[50:17] Speaker 3: percent of the receiving market share during that time. Crazy
[50:21] Speaker 3: when they were in thirteen personal looks crazy. Yeah, I
[50:23] Speaker 3: mean he is, and I know this is used frequently.
[50:27] Speaker 3: I'm going to do it again here. He moves like
[50:29] Speaker 3: a wide receiver in a tight end's body, and he
[50:32] Speaker 3: can be the focal point of a passing game. Now,
[50:34] Speaker 3: do I think that anyone's going to be like the
[50:37] Speaker 3: am Mon Ross Saint Brown who have Ben Johnson passing
[50:39] Speaker 3: attack in this one? I don't necessarily think so. But
[50:44] Speaker 3: you know, being a true difference maker at tight end
[50:47] Speaker 3: and tell me if your numbers say this, diff differently
[50:50] Speaker 3: can be easier than being like a true difference maker
[50:52] Speaker 3: at wide receiver. If we're talking like round three, round
[50:55] Speaker 3: four picks. So I'm drafting a lot of Colson live
[51:00] Speaker 3: them too. I'm not drafting them like on the same
[51:01] Speaker 3: team though, yeah, exactly right, what about you?
[51:04] Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, no, I agree.
[51:05] Speaker 1: I like if I were to order them in the exposure,
[51:08] Speaker 1: I will get it's like Burden is the one and
[51:11] Speaker 1: then the other two or like you know two A
[51:13] Speaker 1: to B. You know, and part of your Loveland is
[51:16] Speaker 1: just the position he's playing from a fan from like
[51:17] Speaker 1: a game theory perspective, and wanting to take on that
[51:19] Speaker 1: opportunity cost for a tight end. I'm certainly not fading,
[51:22] Speaker 1: and I still think that a Dounze goes a little
[51:24] Speaker 1: bit later. Like the one thing that I do think
[51:26] Speaker 1: that people should understand is that, you know, when I'm ranking,
[51:30] Speaker 1: it sounds like you're doing the same thing. We're ranking
[51:32] Speaker 1: them higher than market. Like you can rank all three
[51:34] Speaker 1: of them higher than market and still understand that you're
[51:37] Speaker 1: doing that because if one emerges, they could absolutely just
[51:40] Speaker 1: dominate in fantasy football, right, Like, It's not if you
[51:43] Speaker 1: were to just go by projection, it wouldn't look as clean,
[51:45] Speaker 1: it wouldn't look as good, you know, necessarily because you're
[51:49] Speaker 1: evening things out a lot more. But there's a very
[51:50] Speaker 1: real chance that someone or two of these guys end
[51:53] Speaker 1: up just having like monster seasons.
[51:55] Speaker 3: That there's I think two offenses this year and there's
[51:58] Speaker 3: probably more, but two at the top of my head
[52:00] Speaker 3: that I just want you all to have pieces of
[52:02] Speaker 3: and a piece from right, And that's why I'm ringing
[52:05] Speaker 3: them higher than consensus. One's the Bears and the other
[52:08] Speaker 3: ones the Chargers. Like I just want you guys to exit.
[52:10] Speaker 3: I knew you were with Yeah, a player on one
[52:13] Speaker 3: of those two teams.
[52:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, agreed. Another team I like is Jacksonville. You know,
[52:19] Speaker 1: there's a lot of fun pieces there. The guy. You know,
[52:22] Speaker 1: you can maybe argue Parker Washington's getting more hyph but
[52:25] Speaker 1: bay j'all, Tuton's getting a ton of steam right now.
[52:27] Speaker 1: So where are you at with the backfield there? With
[52:29] Speaker 1: with Tuton and c Rod.
[52:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Hey and I are on different ends
[52:33] Speaker 3: of this one, like stepping back. Okay, if Chris Rodriguez
[52:36] Speaker 3: is standing in the way of a player potentially having
[52:38] Speaker 3: a breakout season, I want to take that gamble every
[52:40] Speaker 3: sing day.
[52:41] Speaker 2: It's exactly O.
[52:42] Speaker 3: Yes, yes, you know now is it that simple? Because
[52:46] Speaker 3: of the history that Chris Orriguez and Liam Cohen have,
[52:49] Speaker 3: maybe not, you know, And then I don't know if
[52:52] Speaker 3: you saw this quote recently, from Liam Cohen. It did
[52:55] Speaker 3: not endear like a lot of optimism for me necessarily.
[52:59] Speaker 3: So he said, I've worked with Chris Rodriguez. What he
[53:01] Speaker 3: brings the table is efficiency. What we are hunting up
[53:05] Speaker 3: is efficiency. First of all, this hunting up thing that
[53:07] Speaker 3: James Gladstone like instilled. I mean, James Gladstone is a bit.
[53:11] Speaker 3: He's on my radar.
[53:12] Speaker 1: Oh, he's on my after this draft. Oh, he's definitely
[53:14] Speaker 1: on my radar after this.
[53:15] Speaker 3: And I even mean like every single one of his
[53:17] Speaker 3: phrases feels like it came from you know, a self
[53:19] Speaker 3: help up. Yeah, and he like topps his hands and.
[53:22] Speaker 2: He faked it to the to the top. Yeah.
[53:25] Speaker 3: Anyways, he might be really good. It's just his communication
[53:27] Speaker 3: style is very very scripted. It feels like, continue on
[53:31] Speaker 3: the quote. It's very difficult to create explosives in the
[53:34] Speaker 3: running game. So what we are hunting up is efficiency
[53:37] Speaker 3: for six eight ten. For six eight ten, we have
[53:42] Speaker 3: to evolve. I think that's aiming really low. To be
[53:45] Speaker 3: honest itself explode. You're Liam Cohen, Yeah, you're You're Liam Cohen.
[53:52] Speaker 3: You had Bucky Irving as the running back eleven when
[53:54] Speaker 3: he started games for you during his rookie season. Yea,
[53:57] Speaker 3: you had Travis a Chan last year as a running
[54:00] Speaker 3: ten in points per game when he started, and then
[54:03] Speaker 3: now you're like, well we only want six yard games. Yeah,
[54:06] Speaker 3: and over and over and over again.
[54:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[54:08] Speaker 3: And however, when you look at the efficiency metrics can
[54:11] Speaker 3: be success rate, it can be first down or touchdown
[54:14] Speaker 3: rate of runs and all that type of stuff, Chris
[54:16] Speaker 3: Rodriguez is like top five or top seven every single
[54:18] Speaker 3: one of those metrics, not far behind those.
[54:20] Speaker 2: Bachiel two exactly right, right, So it's.
[54:22] Speaker 3: Not like we're talking about guys on the polar extremes here. Yes,
[54:25] Speaker 3: it's they're very close. And when you go back and watch, like,
[54:30] Speaker 3: things just didn't work out for Bachiel twot in a
[54:31] Speaker 3: lot of ways where he would just trip over his
[54:33] Speaker 3: own feet, trip over an offensive lineman, maybe go the
[54:35] Speaker 3: wrong way.
[54:36] Speaker 1: Was it a Thursday night game where he ran into
[54:39] Speaker 1: it just in the back of the defender and whateverone felt,
[54:41] Speaker 1: And that was like the clip that everyone's like, oh,
[54:43] Speaker 1: he has no vision, he's terrible, you know, and he
[54:45] Speaker 1: just ran with that.
[54:45] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And there was one against the Cardinals where
[54:47] Speaker 3: like he jukes someone in the backfield and like gets
[54:50] Speaker 3: an open space and should take on a safety at
[54:52] Speaker 3: the third level and then just falls over himself, right,
[54:54] Speaker 3: So you know, maybe that is just him. Maybe he's clumsy,
[54:58] Speaker 3: or maybe he's you know, a sick athlete who had
[55:02] Speaker 3: cool underlying metrics coming out of Virginia Tech and just
[55:06] Speaker 3: improves in the second season. So I am, and I
[55:08] Speaker 3: know he's going much earlier, but I'm taking way more
[55:11] Speaker 3: batial tooting in the Dame Chris Roverguez.
[55:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I'm I'm I mean, look, I've I started
[55:15] Speaker 1: a meme last year with hashtag all roads for all
[55:19] Speaker 1: roads lead to bay Shall Tuton. So I'm most I
[55:22] Speaker 1: loved him as a prospect. That was the thing, like
[55:24] Speaker 1: that be like pre combined stuff. I do an episode
[55:26] Speaker 1: every year on running back and wide receiver prospects who
[55:29] Speaker 1: produced like studs in college, and this is pre combine
[55:32] Speaker 1: before he really shot up because of the forty. Obviously,
[55:35] Speaker 1: he was one of the guys that I called out
[55:37] Speaker 1: that checked every box that I'm looking for from a
[55:39] Speaker 1: production standpoint, and so that got me on him, and
[55:41] Speaker 1: then I was almost like upset that he ran such
[55:44] Speaker 1: a good forty because then you know, it made the
[55:46] Speaker 1: market jump in on him, you know, and so on.
[55:49] Speaker 1: I also think that coaches are starting to realize more
[55:51] Speaker 1: and more how important disguising what they're doing is. And
[55:54] Speaker 1: that's what the Rams have leaned into so much with
[55:56] Speaker 1: Kyrien and like quorum, And you know, they didn't really
[56:00] Speaker 1: do that last year in Jacksonville so much, because you know,
[56:03] Speaker 1: there were times where like they manufactured some receiving stuff
[56:06] Speaker 1: to Tutin, for sure. But I don't see why we
[56:10] Speaker 1: shouldn't or can't just project last year's backfield with this
[56:14] Speaker 1: year's players in Jacksonville and kind of work off of
[56:17] Speaker 1: that workload, like where Tuton's the Travis Chan and Chris
[56:21] Speaker 1: Rodriguez is the Tutin right, which kind of makes sense
[56:23] Speaker 1: because if you look at like they would sprinkle in
[56:25] Speaker 1: Tuton at the goal line last year for instance, which
[56:27] Speaker 1: by the way, I don't know why we're making the
[56:29] Speaker 1: assumption that Chris Rodriguez is automatically the goal line guy
[56:31] Speaker 1: when Tutin was great a total line last year.
[56:33] Speaker 3: You know, yeah he was. He was subbed in some
[56:35] Speaker 3: third and fourth down stuff, right and right wasn't getting there.
[56:39] Speaker 1: Right exactly, And so I kind of see it as like,
[56:42] Speaker 1: why can't Tuton just be that Travis Achan role and
[56:46] Speaker 1: potentially be even better in it because I think he's
[56:49] Speaker 1: more explosive than a Chan is at this point like
[56:53] Speaker 1: Travis Achan's. I guess I'm officially going with Ahan. I
[56:56] Speaker 1: talked about this on the podcast last week. I guess
[56:57] Speaker 1: I'm officially tough it.
[56:59] Speaker 3: I know I say both in a single episode.
[57:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, I did too, But I'm rolling with that again.
[57:03] Speaker 3: I'm on the fence, Zachariasin here.
[57:05] Speaker 1: Look, I'm feeling I'm feeling very very bold right now
[57:09] Speaker 1: to go with it.
[57:10] Speaker 2: So I'm gonna run with it.
[57:10] Speaker 1: But Travis a Chan's numbers last year and his actual
[57:13] Speaker 1: performance wasn't like stellar. It wasn't like he was out
[57:16] Speaker 1: of control great, And I know that. You know, Tutin
[57:19] Speaker 1: didn't have as many explosive runs last season, and you know,
[57:22] Speaker 1: at one point, you know, you can look at trends.
[57:24] Speaker 1: It's not a good trend whenever you don't have those
[57:26] Speaker 1: explosive runs. He had one in the you know, twenty
[57:28] Speaker 1: yard run in the playoffs. But to me, I'm just
[57:31] Speaker 1: trying to be like, I don't I don't want to
[57:32] Speaker 1: be so strict from a numbers perspective, and I need
[57:34] Speaker 1: to just be logical and say he was unbelievably explosive
[57:37] Speaker 1: in college, Like we know that he's explosive.
[57:40] Speaker 3: You know. Two things on that one, I think Zayan
[57:43] Speaker 3: made the comparison that is this similar to the Cincinnati
[57:47] Speaker 3: backfield when it was Chase Brown and Zack Moss. Yeah,
[57:50] Speaker 3: and like Scheltuton is the Chase Brown that wasn't a
[57:53] Speaker 3: first round pick, and then Zack Moss is the veteran
[57:56] Speaker 3: that comes in and you think is going to like
[57:57] Speaker 3: own the work, and I know that was an injury,
[57:59] Speaker 3: but he ended up not. And then Chase Brown just
[58:01] Speaker 3: got you know, kind of auditioned for every single role
[58:04] Speaker 3: until now he's one of the highest snap right players
[58:06] Speaker 3: in the league, you know. And I mean, I'm drafting
[58:09] Speaker 3: so much Chase Brown this year when I can, because
[58:10] Speaker 3: I think he has like the best running back environment
[58:13] Speaker 3: of any player out there.
[58:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, better offensive there too this year definitely.
[58:17] Speaker 3: And then the second part is, I mean I would
[58:20] Speaker 3: be shocked if we're out there in the first series
[58:23] Speaker 3: of the NFL season and that's not like a Bachel
[58:25] Speaker 3: Tuton drive or Bachel Tuton doesn't get the first crack
[58:27] Speaker 3: at it. And so I am just banking on Bachiel
[58:30] Speaker 3: Tuton not falling flat in his face for the first
[58:33] Speaker 3: two or three games, getting the first opportunity and make
[58:35] Speaker 3: the most of it. It's that simple.
[58:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I'm with you.
[58:39] Speaker 1: I think there's a very real chance that he's a
[58:41] Speaker 1: league winning player in fantasy Like it could very easily,
[58:44] Speaker 1: and this is the environment where that can happen, you know.
[58:48] Speaker 3: Yeah. We just did a show on our eleven players
[58:50] Speaker 3: that like we would term league winners that upside wins championships,
[58:54] Speaker 3: and he was one that I nominated.
[58:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're in the same I'm glad that you're
[58:57] Speaker 1: on the on the train maybe.
[58:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, man, we need as many as we can get,
[59:01] Speaker 2: all right.
[59:01] Speaker 1: I know that we've gone for about an hour, but
[59:04] Speaker 1: I do want to ask you a couple questions before
[59:07] Speaker 1: I let you go. Who are a couple guys that
[59:10] Speaker 1: you're targeting that you think are huge values, and then
[59:12] Speaker 1: two guys that you're avoiding who you think are big avoids.
[59:15] Speaker 3: Right now, I'm really drafting Christian Watson and he was
[59:18] Speaker 3: the player that had I hadn't mind when I said
[59:22] Speaker 3: I love all of like the third and fourth round
[59:24] Speaker 3: wide receivers and so I'll draft like each of them
[59:28] Speaker 3: in different spots as often as I can. Yep. But
[59:31] Speaker 3: kind of when we get to you know, Christian Watson's
[59:33] Speaker 3: now going in Round five in Best Ball, but like
[59:36] Speaker 3: on Yahoo, Christian Watson is a round six player. To me,
[59:40] Speaker 3: he just stands out of that group. Yeah, And I
[59:43] Speaker 3: think a lot of people still have early career Christian
[59:45] Speaker 3: Watson in mind that he lived in this high variance world.
[59:49] Speaker 3: That he ran super hot during his rookie year with
[59:51] Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers and it was pure goballs vertical routes when
[59:55] Speaker 3: they hit. That was great. I mean this time last year,
[59:58] Speaker 3: we didn't even know when Christian Watson going to play.
[1:00:01] Speaker 3: I want to put that on the record. And then
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: also when he got back on the field last year,
[1:00:05] Speaker 3: his game totally evolved totally, Like third and six, he
[1:00:10] Speaker 3: was the go to receiver second and nine, and like
[1:00:14] Speaker 3: you can see how his game evolved if you just
[1:00:17] Speaker 3: look at the routes that he ran. I believe last
[1:00:20] Speaker 3: year he had more out route catches than he ever
[1:00:22] Speaker 3: had targets in those other years combined. Like, his out
[1:00:27] Speaker 3: route rate went from seven percent in his career up
[1:00:30] Speaker 3: to thirty five percent last year. So it goes to
[1:00:33] Speaker 3: what we just talked about, the gimme stuff, right, and
[1:00:36] Speaker 3: now he's the route runner on this team to attack
[1:00:40] Speaker 3: like every blade of grass, and the frustrations hopefully are
[1:00:44] Speaker 3: no longer here with the packers just cycling all these
[1:00:47] Speaker 3: guys in and out. And then I love what Jordan
[1:00:49] Speaker 3: Love just put out there of Matthew Golden is the X.
[1:00:55] Speaker 3: You know, Jane Reid is mostly the slot, and Christian Watson,
[1:00:58] Speaker 3: despite being bigger than both, is going to be the Z. Yeah,
[1:01:01] Speaker 3: and that just gives us motion, It gives us into stacks,
[1:01:04] Speaker 3: it gives us free space that he's think going to
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: maximize even more so. Obviously the concern is always with
[1:01:11] Speaker 3: Christian Watson and he's not going to play a full season,
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: but to me, that's a major reason why we can
[1:01:15] Speaker 3: get him in the six rounds and we're aiming for upside.
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: He was another one of these players for me that
[1:01:20] Speaker 3: I think can be a league winner of the season.
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: Love the call He's a target in the draft guide
[1:01:24] Speaker 1: this year. You know, if you look last year too,
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: not only was he awesome and fantasy and really efficient
[1:01:29] Speaker 1: on a per route run basis, his route share was
[1:01:31] Speaker 1: lower than what we typically see from him. And now
[1:01:34] Speaker 1: you know it's like seventy one percent when it's typically
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: the last time we saw him healthy was closer to
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: like seventy eight to eighty percent. And now you don't
[1:01:39] Speaker 1: have Romeo Dobson on Tavian Wix like you said, and
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: so there's not going to be that rotation that's just
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: frustrated the crap.
[1:01:44] Speaker 2: Out of us over the last handful of years. So
[1:01:46] Speaker 2: I'm with you, give me another one.
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: I mean, can I do early picks?
[1:01:49] Speaker 2: Like you can do whatever you want?
[1:01:50] Speaker 3: Whoever is this is great value. This has changed, I think,
[1:01:54] Speaker 3: on every platform in the last week. And maybe I'll
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: take a little bit of credit for it. No, best
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: thought still this way, like why is Ashton gin going
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: ahead of Saquon Barkley? Yeah, big question. Yeah, I mean
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: we just saw him two years ago be the number
[1:02:06] Speaker 3: one player in fantasy football? And I know so much
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: of the conversation around the Eagles right now is well,
[1:02:13] Speaker 3: what is Sean Maniing going to pluck out of you know,
[1:02:17] Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts as a passer? How does DeVante Smith step
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: into the shoes of AJ Brown? What does Makayle Limon
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: and Eli Stowers bring to me, none of it matters
[1:02:25] Speaker 3: unless they get the rushing attack back to where it was. Yeah,
[1:02:28] Speaker 3: and it's not like we're talking going from like bad
[1:02:32] Speaker 3: to good. Just last year it was a bit too average, right,
[1:02:35] Speaker 3: like the yards before contact, which you know can be
[1:02:38] Speaker 3: a metric that we can debate. I firmly believe that
[1:02:41] Speaker 3: getting back to a successful rushing attack and explosive rushing
[1:02:46] Speaker 3: attack is what then changes the math for the passing
[1:02:49] Speaker 3: game to get easier. And so last season with a
[1:02:52] Speaker 3: very injured offensive line, I understand why that wasn't the case.
[1:02:56] Speaker 3: And then just from watching I don't think that Squon
[1:02:59] Speaker 3: has lost a step or we've gotten to the cliff
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: and all that type of stuff. So yeah, if if
[1:03:04] Speaker 3: the environment, and I understand Jeff Stoutlin is no longer
[1:03:06] Speaker 3: there as the offensive line coach in the Hall of
[1:03:07] Speaker 3: Famer at that, I just think it is critical for
[1:03:10] Speaker 3: this team to get back to Saque Barkley. I'm not
[1:03:12] Speaker 3: saying he's gonna get like the eighty five percent work
[1:03:15] Speaker 3: that he got when he was the number one scoring player,
[1:03:17] Speaker 3: because I think Tank Bigsby actually is quite good and
[1:03:20] Speaker 3: quite fun. And I'm drafting a lot of Tank two.
[1:03:22] Speaker 3: But uh, I just think people are kind of hoping
[1:03:25] Speaker 3: that Ashton genty has a season like Saque Barkley when
[1:03:27] Speaker 3: we can just draft Sake one Parky a bit.
[1:03:29] Speaker 1: Later, I'd said in my regression episode this week, Barkley
[1:03:31] Speaker 1: also won for fourteen in goal line.
[1:03:33] Speaker 2: Rushes last year. Yes, exactly, just just ridiculous.
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: I mean, obviously he's not seeing the super easy stuff
[1:03:38] Speaker 1: because Jalen Hurts gets the touch push.
[1:03:40] Speaker 3: But still even but are we doing the touch push
[1:03:42] Speaker 3: as much?
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[1:03:43] Speaker 3: Last year? Last year they didn't. They it was not
[1:03:46] Speaker 3: as successful and that's why Dallas Goddard got so many
[1:03:49] Speaker 3: touchdowns because they flicked it. Yeah, and now what if
[1:03:51] Speaker 3: those are just Saque Barkee runs.
[1:03:52] Speaker 2: A good point.
[1:03:53] Speaker 1: It's a good point, very good point, all right, real
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: quick two players that you're not into.
[1:03:59] Speaker 3: I also couldn't kin Walker on that last one too.
[1:04:01] Speaker 1: I like that tier of guys in general, like hard
[1:04:05] Speaker 1: not to but yeah, ken Walker I also think is
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: an incredibly good clicker right now, especially season long platforms.
[1:04:10] Speaker 1: I think on on Yahoo right now, isn't he like
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: twentieth overall or something like that? He goes a lot
[1:04:15] Speaker 1: like a decent bit later than some of the other
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: you know, just given where we're drafting in the in
[1:04:20] Speaker 1: the second round, Like then some of those other running backs.
[1:04:23] Speaker 3: Totally, I think I have kin Walker as my thirteenth
[1:04:25] Speaker 3: overall player. Yeah, I think it's one hangs up to
[1:04:28] Speaker 3: ninth overall with kin Walker the.
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: Thirty ooh okay, so yeah, he's very bolish. I like it.
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: I love the fit with Walker.
[1:04:35] Speaker 3: I mentioned Xavier Worthy earlier and like, look, we're talking
[1:04:38] Speaker 3: you know, further down the board with him. But I mean,
[1:04:41] Speaker 3: some of these numbers with Xavier Worthy are actually laughable,
[1:04:44] Speaker 3: and that like, this is someone a big number, but
[1:04:47] Speaker 3: he's only cleared eighty receiving yards three times in thirty
[1:04:50] Speaker 3: four career games. But then our buddy Nick Urkulano posted
[1:04:54] Speaker 3: that in games where where she Rice is played, Xavier
[1:04:57] Speaker 3: Worthy has averaged two point seven catches per game.
[1:05:00] Speaker 2: Wow, that's pretty crazy.
[1:05:03] Speaker 3: And then like I was somewhat optimistic of Xavier Worthy
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: coming into the league, but then watching him since I understand,
[1:05:09] Speaker 3: like you know, last year, after the first time he
[1:05:12] Speaker 3: touched the football, his shoulder exploded and we didn't we
[1:05:14] Speaker 3: don't know what we got with him. I'm just trying
[1:05:16] Speaker 3: to figure out, like what is he in the league now,
[1:05:19] Speaker 3: you know, and especially now tied to a quarterback who's
[1:05:23] Speaker 3: been one of the worst downs toward passers in the NFL.
[1:05:26] Speaker 3: I also think Xavier Worthy is the latest example of
[1:05:29] Speaker 3: just because you're fast, it doesn't make you a great
[1:05:31] Speaker 3: downfield player because you know, average to good corners that
[1:05:37] Speaker 3: might be slower but they're physical. Make him play at
[1:05:40] Speaker 3: their speed and then you can't really separate and go
[1:05:42] Speaker 3: up and get it and all that type of stuff.
[1:05:43] Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm just not drafting much Davior Worthy. And
[1:05:46] Speaker 3: I know that's like easy to say for eleventh round pick,
[1:05:48] Speaker 3: but yeah, the other one, can I just say like
[1:05:50] Speaker 3: all Cardinals And I don't want to do like a
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: sweeping thing here, and this is like the most basic
[1:05:56] Speaker 3: analysis I'm ever going to give. But it just feels
[1:05:58] Speaker 3: weird to have four Arizona Cardinals draft in the top
[1:06:02] Speaker 3: ninety five overall in your home leagues for a team
[1:06:05] Speaker 3: that is projected for the fewest amount of points in
[1:06:07] Speaker 3: the NFL this shit season.
[1:06:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, that has just just it's Jacoby Brissett and Slash
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: Carson Beck, like we you know, like it's crazy, it's crazy.
[1:06:17] Speaker 3: I would actually be more optimistic that they could hit
[1:06:20] Speaker 3: that mark if I knew Jacobs Set was going to
[1:06:23] Speaker 3: get seventeen games exactly. But I am certain we're not
[1:06:25] Speaker 3: going to get seventeen games at Jacob Set. We're going
[1:06:28] Speaker 3: to get some of Carson Beck and Garter Minshew and
[1:06:31] Speaker 3: an Ah that territory. So like I I'm like not
[1:06:34] Speaker 3: drafting Trey McBride where he's going. I can't do it. Yeah,
[1:06:37] Speaker 3: Jeremiah Love, I wish I could sprinkle it in. It's
[1:06:41] Speaker 3: even kind of rich to me, where like we're talking
[1:06:45] Speaker 3: about like the hot hand comments, I don't mind because
[1:06:50] Speaker 3: he should be the hot hand because he's that much better.
[1:06:52] Speaker 3: And like going back to you know, Breues Hall's rookie
[1:06:55] Speaker 3: season and Mike Lafloor, I think he had like nine,
[1:06:57] Speaker 3: twelve and thirteen touches his opening three games and then
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: was like the running back nine the rest of the
[1:07:01] Speaker 3: season because he earned it. But at the same time,
[1:07:04] Speaker 3: I'm just kind of nervous of the environment. And then yeah,
[1:07:06] Speaker 3: the Marvin Michael Wilson stuff, I'm just kind of not into.
[1:07:10] Speaker 1: I am lower than the market on all three when
[1:07:12] Speaker 1: I look at my rankings versus three as in the
[1:07:15] Speaker 1: pass catchers. When I look at my rankings versus what
[1:07:18] Speaker 1: is going on consensus, and then there's certain platforms where
[1:07:21] Speaker 1: like love go like like ESPN, he's like a really
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: really high pick like RB like six or something. It's crazy, really,
[1:07:28] Speaker 1: It's like it's just very very high, and I can't
[1:07:31] Speaker 1: get behind that at all. I think that he belongs
[1:07:33] Speaker 1: in like the Breese range from a yes, you know,
[1:07:36] Speaker 1: like a from like a rankings perspective, the Marv's like, look,
[1:07:39] Speaker 1: I think that Michael Wilson is good, but I also
[1:07:42] Speaker 1: have a lot of worry with what happened even with
[1:07:46] Speaker 1: Persett when Marvin Harrison Junior was running a normal complement
[1:07:49] Speaker 1: of routes and snaps and stuff. And then obviously I
[1:07:52] Speaker 1: still think Marv is gonna be on the field most
[1:07:54] Speaker 1: and you know, play that X role for them, and
[1:07:57] Speaker 1: you know, I still think that, like there's some upside there,
[1:07:59] Speaker 1: and I've I've drafted both a little bit more Marv
[1:08:02] Speaker 1: than than Michael Wilson in best Ball, but I'm a
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: little bit underweight still. And the Trey McBride thing that
[1:08:08] Speaker 1: I go back to, I wrote about this in the
[1:08:09] Speaker 1: in the Draft Guy this year. He ran like one
[1:08:12] Speaker 1: hundred and twenty more routes than I think Travis Kelsey
[1:08:14] Speaker 1: was second last year.
[1:08:15] Speaker 2: And even if you just go and you.
[1:08:17] Speaker 1: Regress that too, and you just just lower that to
[1:08:20] Speaker 1: where Travis Kelsey was at that number of routes that
[1:08:23] Speaker 1: he ran, so he would still rank first in the NFL,
[1:08:25] Speaker 1: tied for first in the NFL and routes run, And
[1:08:27] Speaker 1: if you maintained his fantasy points per route run Trey McBride's,
[1:08:31] Speaker 1: he would have scored three point two fewer fantasy points
[1:08:34] Speaker 1: per game, which, sure he'd still be good, he'd still
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: be over that fifteen mark, but it's not nearly as
[1:08:40] Speaker 1: dominants he was last year. And that's a fantasy points
[1:08:42] Speaker 1: per route run number where those fantasy points were on
[1:08:45] Speaker 1: an insane number of end zone targets that I don't
[1:08:47] Speaker 1: think we can just assume is going to be there
[1:08:48] Speaker 1: year over year. So I'm with you. I've had a
[1:08:51] Speaker 1: really really hard time with McBride. You know, I'm looking
[1:08:53] Speaker 1: at at rankings right now, and you know, to me,
[1:08:56] Speaker 1: he's like more mid to late like late third off
[1:09:00] Speaker 1: times for me, Like I'm not even that that far,
[1:09:02] Speaker 1: but I'm a little bit like you know, I just
[1:09:04] Speaker 1: it's how I look at tight ends in general. I
[1:09:05] Speaker 1: don't want to take on that opportunity. Cost is often
[1:09:07] Speaker 1: in season long than what the market generally does. Except
[1:09:10] Speaker 1: for brock Powers this year, I'm fine with with just Yeah.
[1:09:13] Speaker 3: If you look over the last like seven days, he
[1:09:16] Speaker 3: and brock Bowers actually on Yahoo are only like three
[1:09:18] Speaker 3: picks apart.
[1:09:19] Speaker 2: It's crazy to me.
[1:09:20] Speaker 3: Crazy to me insane. Isn't like the one hundred and
[1:09:22] Speaker 3: twenty routes in that like three games basically more than
[1:09:26] Speaker 3: the next Like that is nuts. I know he played
[1:09:29] Speaker 3: three more games then and for the rest ten.
[1:09:31] Speaker 1: For the record, the only guy who ran more routes
[1:09:33] Speaker 1: a wide receiver than Michael Wilson last year was Jamar
[1:09:35] Speaker 1: Chase and it was by one route. And if you
[1:09:37] Speaker 1: look at guys who runs six hundred and more routes
[1:09:40] Speaker 1: year over year, there's almost always a decline in routes
[1:09:42] Speaker 1: run because there's a natural regression of these teams not
[1:09:44] Speaker 1: throwing as much.
[1:09:45] Speaker 3: Yeah. Now, I can hear a lot of people say, well,
[1:09:50] Speaker 3: they're going to be so bad, that's just gonna be
[1:09:51] Speaker 3: garbage time all the time. That is one of those
[1:09:54] Speaker 3: like fantasy phrases. That gets thrown at me where I
[1:09:57] Speaker 3: want to push back on because garbage time means you
[1:10:01] Speaker 3: sucked for three quarters or three and a half quarters
[1:10:03] Speaker 3: and you didn't score enough points. So then you have
[1:10:06] Speaker 3: the confidence in the final six minutes ten minutes to
[1:10:11] Speaker 3: then say to yourself, oh yeah, now we flip the
[1:10:13] Speaker 3: switch on and now we're going to score, like have
[1:10:15] Speaker 3: a bunch of yards and score a bunch of points.
[1:10:17] Speaker 3: Like sometimes it worked, and it did for them last year,
[1:10:19] Speaker 3: which of Kobe and Petsing and all this type of stuff.
[1:10:22] Speaker 3: But now it's a new coach, it's potentially new quarterbacks
[1:10:26] Speaker 3: involved two and I don't think you can just like
[1:10:29] Speaker 3: bank on flipping that switch every single time here.
[1:10:31] Speaker 1: For the rec I like I've always said, it takes
[1:10:33] Speaker 1: a garbage performance to create garbage time, you know, and so.
[1:10:36] Speaker 3: So like it shout out fantasy douche. She used to
[1:10:38] Speaker 3: talk about this all the time.
[1:10:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, right right.
[1:10:40] Speaker 1: But the other thing, like I've comped Michael Wilson a
[1:10:43] Speaker 1: couple of months ago to last year's Jerry Judy where
[1:10:46] Speaker 1: it's a very very similar took an injury to Cedric
[1:10:49] Speaker 1: Tillman to open things up a little bit more. You
[1:10:52] Speaker 1: get a changing quarterback to Jamis where that opened things
[1:10:55] Speaker 1: up from a volume perspective and just kind of throwing
[1:10:57] Speaker 1: it down the field and giving me a high target share.
[1:10:59] Speaker 1: And then we saw what happened last year with the
[1:11:01] Speaker 1: Browns and with Judy. It's just hard to repeat that
[1:11:03] Speaker 1: kind of situational production, you know. And I have the
[1:11:08] Speaker 1: same concerns with Arizona. Couldn't bite us, sure because they
[1:11:11] Speaker 1: have a tough schedule this year. It's one of the
[1:11:12] Speaker 1: toughest in the league, and so they could see those
[1:11:14] Speaker 1: negative scripts and they could end up being really pass
[1:11:17] Speaker 1: heavy still, but I question what this will look like
[1:11:20] Speaker 1: with like not only three really good pass catchers now,
[1:11:22] Speaker 1: but now you have a legit pass catching threat out
[1:11:24] Speaker 1: of the backfield and Jeremiah Love, so it could you
[1:11:26] Speaker 1: know that the math is just not mathing as much.
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: With with Arizona. So I like the call out.
[1:11:31] Speaker 1: All right, last question, bold, take this of this of
[1:11:35] Speaker 1: this fantasy season. Give us some fire before I let
[1:11:37] Speaker 1: you go.
[1:11:38] Speaker 3: Okay, the Chargers are top three in overall points this year.
[1:11:44] Speaker 3: Ok right, Okay, is that not fire enough for you?
[1:11:47] Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's you know, a little I.
[1:11:49] Speaker 3: Mean, Okay, I'll give you another one. And this might
[1:11:51] Speaker 3: be even last year. You got to give me the
[1:11:53] Speaker 3: gauge here. I guess Brock Bowers is the player you need.
[1:11:58] Speaker 3: He is the player period.
[1:11:59] Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, there's a lot of players in the in
[1:12:01] Speaker 1: the league. That's that's fire, that's that's hot.
[1:12:03] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:12:03] Speaker 3: Yeah. On some platforms there are eighteen rounds you have
[1:12:06] Speaker 3: to make picks off. So yeah, him being one of
[1:12:08] Speaker 3: the player that you.
[1:12:09] Speaker 2: Need, I think that's the player. Then, Yes, that's bold.
[1:12:13] Speaker 3: We had Ryan Paganetti on the show. I'm sure everyone's
[1:12:16] Speaker 3: seen his tweets lately. He you know, worked for the
[1:12:18] Speaker 3: Eagles and then the Jaguars. In this past year worked
[1:12:20] Speaker 3: for Pete Carroll and the Raiders, and he said like
[1:12:23] Speaker 3: their organizational goal was to have Brock Bauers break the
[1:12:27] Speaker 3: NFL record in targets and catches. It kind of felt
[1:12:31] Speaker 3: like that was going to work through the first three
[1:12:34] Speaker 3: quarters of the season and then obviously injury struck. I
[1:12:37] Speaker 3: think Brock Powers might be the player other than Lad McConkey,
[1:12:41] Speaker 3: which is going to be my point here with the
[1:12:42] Speaker 3: Chargers that is going to see the biggest benefit with
[1:12:46] Speaker 3: the trend of heavier personnel looks okay, because in those situations,
[1:12:51] Speaker 3: the best pass catchers then get funneled the opportunities. And so,
[1:12:55] Speaker 3: like Ryan Heath has written about this where j ACX
[1:13:00] Speaker 3: Smith and Jigba's production last year came on the thirty
[1:13:03] Speaker 3: eight percent of the snaps where there were two or
[1:13:06] Speaker 3: fewer wide receivers on the field last year. And you know,
[1:13:10] Speaker 3: Clint Kuback, coming from that exact system, is bringing it
[1:13:13] Speaker 3: now to the Raiders. And then it's not just two
[1:13:15] Speaker 3: tight end looks that they can do with Brock Powers
[1:13:19] Speaker 3: and Michael Mayer. It's also he loves to use a
[1:13:21] Speaker 3: fullback and they just didn't do it as much last
[1:13:22] Speaker 3: year if Oot's being hurt. Yeah, and so they brought
[1:13:25] Speaker 3: in Connor Hayward to do that from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
[1:13:28] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:13:28] Speaker 3: And so while the positional titles might be different, I
[1:13:32] Speaker 3: think you can do very very similar things with Brock
[1:13:35] Speaker 3: Powers and JSN. And I mean this is obviously one
[1:13:38] Speaker 3: of those situations where he's going to be the funnel
[1:13:41] Speaker 3: player compared to like all the other pass catchers they
[1:13:43] Speaker 3: have on that team.
[1:13:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great analysis, and I couldn't agree more. He's
[1:13:46] Speaker 1: a to me, like you said, the gap between him
[1:13:49] Speaker 1: and McBride just does not make much sense on most
[1:13:51] Speaker 1: of these platforms. I think that especially in shallow leagues.
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: If you're like an eight or ten team league, where
[1:13:58] Speaker 1: you can get away with taking those onesies early because
[1:14:01] Speaker 1: the opportunity costs is in this high just smash brock
[1:14:03] Speaker 1: Bowers like he's the.
[1:14:04] Speaker 2: Onesie to take early, you know, in your draft.
[1:14:07] Speaker 1: So great call, Josh. This was fantastic. I always love
[1:14:10] Speaker 1: talking ball with you. It's good to do it over
[1:14:12] Speaker 1: the summer. I feel like we do a lot of
[1:14:13] Speaker 1: prospect stuff usually together, so it was nice to to
[1:14:16] Speaker 1: change that up a little.
[1:14:17] Speaker 3: I'll talk to you again in two and a half years,
[1:14:18] Speaker 3: I guess.
[1:14:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly exactly. We'll never know where they can find
[1:14:23] Speaker 2: you and what you've been working on.
[1:14:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going out Yahoo. Just you can search Josh
[1:14:29] Speaker 3: and Hayden Yahoo Fantasy Football on YouTube and right now
[1:14:33] Speaker 3: we're doing four videos a week and then that would
[1:14:36] Speaker 3: be even more pretty soon. So these are like our
[1:14:39] Speaker 3: favorite time of the year when these presecing games happened,
[1:14:41] Speaker 3: because we watch every single snap, well not every single snap,
[1:14:44] Speaker 3: I'll say, every single game and then give our analysis
[1:14:47] Speaker 3: and go throw the snap counts and change our rankings
[1:14:49] Speaker 3: and overreact and underreact and all that type of stuff.
[1:14:52] Speaker 3: So always always a good time to join you buddy.
[1:14:56] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, great chopping it up. Make sure you guys
[1:14:58] Speaker 1: are checking out late round dot com. Get the Draft Guide.
[1:15:01] Speaker 1: Uh it is on sale right now, it'll hit your inbox.
[1:15:04] Speaker 1: Updates happen every Friday, so that's rankings updates, market score updates,
[1:15:09] Speaker 1: you know, players of target players to avoid all that. Otherwise,
[1:15:12] Speaker 1: everyone enjoy your weekend and as always, thanks for tuning in.
