[1:12] Speaker 1: If you had to replace one hand with a kitchen utensil,
[1:16] Speaker 1: what would you choose?
[1:20] Speaker 3: I feel as if I use a wooden spoon or
[1:26] Speaker 3: spatula the most because it can both mix and flip.
[1:32] Speaker 3: Is there supposed to be a better answer than that? No?
[1:35] Speaker 1: I mean, like you got to think you're replacing your
[1:37] Speaker 1: hand with a utensil, So your your hand, like your
[1:41] Speaker 1: everyday life, would be replaced with this thing you're just
[1:45] Speaker 1: thinking about cooking.
[1:46] Speaker 3: I feel like, well, didn't you mention a kitchen utensil?
[1:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a kitchen utensil, but you gotta go through
[1:52] Speaker 1: life with this thing.
[1:53] Speaker 2: Whatever you want to choose.
[1:54] Speaker 3: What a fork be the most?
[1:56] Speaker 2: Obviously you can use maybe like a big fork.
[1:59] Speaker 3: What is your answer? Because no one asked this question
[2:01] Speaker 3: unless they're ready to give their answer.
[2:03] Speaker 1: If you had to teach a master class on something
[2:05] Speaker 1: completely random, what would it be.
[2:09] Speaker 3: About my passion or an expertise? I don't have, but
[2:13] Speaker 3: want to anything something random, gardening if it's my passion,
[2:19] Speaker 3: or cooking if I'm just gaining knowledge, a master class
[2:26] Speaker 3: on what's at the bottom of the ocean. Can I
[2:29] Speaker 3: just teach a class about what's in the ocean because
[2:31] Speaker 3: that's what I'm like most obsessed with.
[2:33] Speaker 2: That's a very boomer thing. What's your go to karaoke song?
[2:38] Speaker 3: It depends on the vibe there's there's like legitimately seven
[2:42] Speaker 3: of them. If it's a small room, I'll do Clint
[2:44] Speaker 3: Eastwood by Gorillas. If it's like a party where everyone's
[2:47] Speaker 3: ready to cheer, I'll do opp Naughty by Nature. I
[2:52] Speaker 3: rap a lot in karaoke because obviously, obviously this accident
[2:56] Speaker 3: is it's just great for rapping.
[2:58] Speaker 2: So so okay, So I had to do that.
[3:00] Speaker 1: I had to open that way because the last time
[3:02] Speaker 1: you're on perspectives, it was quite literally the worst cold
[3:05] Speaker 1: open in the history of cold opens.
[3:06] Speaker 2: You remember that.
[3:07] Speaker 1: No, literally, I literally open and hey, Dagiel, hey, Like
[3:15] Speaker 1: that's essentially what it was, just like hey, and then
[3:17] Speaker 1: there's just a very awkward pot.
[3:18] Speaker 2: So I needed to I need to come in with
[3:20] Speaker 2: some fire today.
[3:21] Speaker 1: So I used my handy AI to come up with
[3:26] Speaker 1: some questions.
[3:26] Speaker 3: And what's more fire than asking me if I would
[3:29] Speaker 3: like to fork attached to my hand for the rest
[3:31] Speaker 3: of my life. No, I'm just say does that? They
[3:33] Speaker 3: can't do that.
[3:34] Speaker 2: It's interesting content, it's just great content. It's good. Good
[3:38] Speaker 2: to see you, brother. I'm going to see you more
[3:40] Speaker 2: this weekend.
[3:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, you're gonna unfortunately see me a lot for the
[3:43] Speaker 3: next week. Yes, and and recall last year because we
[3:46] Speaker 3: lived two completely different lifestyles, especially when we get to
[3:49] Speaker 3: run our friends. More importantly, recall last year, I come
[3:53] Speaker 3: stumbling into the Hall of Fame and canton at like
[3:56] Speaker 3: I don't know eleven noon that that's the respectable part.
[3:59] Speaker 3: But you ask me about my what I did the
[4:01] Speaker 3: night before? I told you, and your response was, quote,
[4:05] Speaker 3: are you an adult? So that's what we were in
[4:08] Speaker 3: store for this weekend at the Fantasy Football Expo.
[4:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think you were up playing poker
[4:14] Speaker 1: until like five am or something.
[4:16] Speaker 2: The night before.
[4:17] Speaker 3: I know my red flag, by the way, I like,
[4:20] Speaker 3: no one has to tell me what it is. It's
[4:22] Speaker 3: for some reason I have controlled I have honed my
[4:24] Speaker 3: energy and a lot of circumstances in life. When I'm
[4:27] Speaker 3: around my friends, I cannot control it. I bounce everywhere.
[4:31] Speaker 3: I just go on their vibe, regardless if it's eight
[4:34] Speaker 3: am or ten PM. I wish I could do better,
[4:37] Speaker 3: but I'm thirty eight years old now and I haven't
[4:39] Speaker 3: been able to contain it.
[4:40] Speaker 1: I feel you, No, I'm actually I do feel you.
[4:42] Speaker 1: I get a lot of energy from like, like, when
[4:45] Speaker 1: I'm around people that I like being around. It's it's
[4:48] Speaker 1: just like infectious and I can't really like like like
[4:51] Speaker 1: I went to to New York City at the beginning
[4:53] Speaker 1: of June with my closest high school buddies and it
[4:56] Speaker 1: was just like like four hours of sleep at night
[4:58] Speaker 1: and you know, just so much fun just to be
[5:01] Speaker 1: with them.
[5:01] Speaker 3: So those kind of trips two are also more rare
[5:03] Speaker 3: as we get older, which is why it's exactly want
[5:05] Speaker 3: to make them happen. They just truly rejuvenate you even
[5:08] Speaker 3: for like we are grateful to do this for a career,
[5:12] Speaker 3: but it even rejuvenates us for the next six months
[5:15] Speaker 3: of our lives to see those group of people for
[5:18] Speaker 3: once a year in my case.
[5:19] Speaker 2: Agreed, Yeah, no, I agreed. Agreed.
[5:21] Speaker 1: That's the other thing too, Like I like, we are
[5:25] Speaker 1: we're lucky to do what we do just as like
[5:27] Speaker 1: a baseline, but it's also just cool that like we
[5:30] Speaker 1: get to do shows with and stuff with each other
[5:32] Speaker 1: all the time and like like just do that kind
[5:35] Speaker 1: of stuff like work together. But then we also get
[5:37] Speaker 1: to like we have this thing now every year we
[5:39] Speaker 1: get we at least get see each other at least
[5:41] Speaker 1: once a year, you know, through this and you know
[5:44] Speaker 1: you grow relationships through doing that. But it's also just like,
[5:47] Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't think a lot of industries
[5:49] Speaker 1: and jobs allow for those relationships to like blossom. And
[5:54] Speaker 1: it's like crazy to think about, but like we've literally
[5:57] Speaker 1: met like hundreds of people through doing this that were
[6:02] Speaker 1: like that we could probably just DM or just text
[6:04] Speaker 1: or something and and be like, hey, you want to
[6:06] Speaker 1: do X, y Z and then be like, yeah, I'm not.
[6:08] Speaker 2: It's just it's crazy that that's that's how this is
[6:10] Speaker 2: all has all come together.
[6:12] Speaker 3: Even two weeknds from now, I'm going to New York
[6:15] Speaker 3: for the Flex drafts that the Athletics Jake Seely host,
[6:18] Speaker 3: and we have tech stars going right now trying to
[6:21] Speaker 3: vote on what we're going to do Friday and Saturday evening.
[6:24] Speaker 3: That's that's how it just happens to happen. And uh,
[6:26] Speaker 3: you know, I've talked about this on other shows and
[6:28] Speaker 3: I don't know if I've mentioned this on with you ever.
[6:31] Speaker 3: But as someone who's adopted, found family is something I
[6:34] Speaker 3: not only believe in, but it's kind of happened everywhere
[6:36] Speaker 3: I've gone, like the city of Chicago. My parents adopted me.
[6:39] Speaker 3: The city of Chicago, adopted me. My friends in life
[6:41] Speaker 3: adopted me, and so I do sternly believe in that.
[6:45] Speaker 3: And that's kind of what's happened with you, richree Bar
[6:49] Speaker 3: like people who we all have our own, you know,
[6:51] Speaker 3: group of close friends we grew up with. But then
[6:53] Speaker 3: there's another group of people that I would still call
[6:56] Speaker 3: like my very good, if not best friends, And that's
[6:59] Speaker 3: what I consider. And we just happened to meet along
[7:01] Speaker 3: the way because of this lovely industry.
[7:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's great, and that's another reason why people
[7:06] Speaker 1: should head to the Fantasy Football Expo there if they're
[7:09] Speaker 1: able to.
[7:09] Speaker 2: All right, let's talk some ball. You've been on the
[7:11] Speaker 2: show plenty.
[7:12] Speaker 1: We don't need to talk about your past and all
[7:13] Speaker 1: that kind of stuff unless you want to get really
[7:15] Speaker 1: really deep.
[7:16] Speaker 2: I think you know, we're good, Yeah, exactly exactly.
[7:20] Speaker 1: We're about to get into training camp, which means we're
[7:23] Speaker 1: gonna get a lot of best shape of their lives reporting.
[7:26] Speaker 1: And the question though, that I think is important that
[7:29] Speaker 1: we get through and we talk about, is what are
[7:31] Speaker 1: the things that you are looking at this time of
[7:34] Speaker 1: year from beat, reports, from from anything out of camp,
[7:37] Speaker 1: you know, videos from camp? What have you uh that
[7:39] Speaker 1: that could end up being actionable that actually.
[7:42] Speaker 2: Might matter a little bit.
[7:43] Speaker 3: What I'm not looking for is what's happening right now
[7:46] Speaker 3: in this final loll week before all the veterans report,
[7:50] Speaker 3: and that is speculation. The most recent example is I'm
[7:53] Speaker 3: not saying names, but you know one one team's reporter
[7:57] Speaker 3: then has a report on the usage of the backfield
[7:59] Speaker 3: of an hirely different team just because they're in state,
[8:02] Speaker 3: not interested whatsoever, not going to move a single thing,
[8:05] Speaker 3: and wish it had not come on my timeline at all.
[8:07] Speaker 3: What I'm really looking for is actual usage from CAMP.
[8:10] Speaker 3: Personnel is a big one, but most importantly the actual
[8:13] Speaker 3: depth chart and that includes, for you know, zero or
[8:16] Speaker 3: B targets for wide receiver two. Since we're all speculating
[8:19] Speaker 3: and assuming there's going to be more multi tighten sets
[8:22] Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six, just given the death of the
[8:24] Speaker 3: wide receiver three. That's what I want. I want your
[8:26] Speaker 3: actual reports from CAMP. I do not care about guesses
[8:29] Speaker 3: about usage and speculation. I want the hard facts.
[8:33] Speaker 2: Yeah it's really hard right now.
[8:34] Speaker 1: I mean not only that, but like right now, there's
[8:37] Speaker 1: been reports coming out that just completely contradict other reports
[8:40] Speaker 1: that came.
[8:41] Speaker 2: Out a week prior, you know what I mean.
[8:42] Speaker 1: And you know, we have to at least be logical
[8:46] Speaker 1: that like the most recent report is not necessarily the
[8:48] Speaker 1: best report. And you know, I'm not saying that another
[8:51] Speaker 1: report is better necessarily. We just don't know right now,
[8:54] Speaker 1: but it's true, you know, like where guys.
[8:55] Speaker 2: Line up and where they're where they're getting reps.
[8:57] Speaker 1: You know, there's been some like Romeo Dobbs and the
[9:00] Speaker 1: type talk like that's important, Like that's something I care about,
[9:02] Speaker 1: you know, like I'm I'm interested in that. I'm interested
[9:04] Speaker 1: to see if Dontavian Wis is out there in two
[9:06] Speaker 1: wide sets consistently, you know, and it's you know, with
[9:09] Speaker 1: Mackay Lemon being healthy hopefully you know, be at full strength,
[9:13] Speaker 1: and if Wix is still playing ahead or whatever that
[9:15] Speaker 1: looks like as the as training camp goes like that's
[9:18] Speaker 1: that's signal. That's something. So do you think that you
[9:21] Speaker 1: follow victim because I mean, I think everyone probably does
[9:24] Speaker 1: to a degree of you know, just confirmation bias type
[9:28] Speaker 1: stuff that goes on in camp. And are there any
[9:31] Speaker 1: things that you do to like make sure you know
[9:34] Speaker 1: that doesn't happen, Like you know, for instance, there might
[9:37] Speaker 1: be a player that you like that's just like very athletic,
[9:40] Speaker 1: and we know that in this kind of environment, athleticism
[9:45] Speaker 1: might flash a little bit more, it might be a
[9:46] Speaker 1: little bit better. Are you in general ignoring the stuff
[9:51] Speaker 1: more than accepting it the reports or are you really
[9:54] Speaker 1: trying to accept a decent bit because there's just so
[9:57] Speaker 1: much variance in this game.
[9:58] Speaker 3: I'm sure I've unfortunately and stubborn with a handful of
[10:01] Speaker 3: players every year, But I do think there is some
[10:05] Speaker 3: type of intelligence in being stubborn for the right reasons,
[10:09] Speaker 3: as long as the process is correct, Because even something
[10:12] Speaker 3: as simple as this is just one example. But you
[10:14] Speaker 3: mentioned even if we get reports, which I'm even expecting
[10:18] Speaker 3: that Dontavian Wicks is initially in two wide receiver sets,
[10:21] Speaker 3: it's also hard for projections to capture that because the
[10:25] Speaker 3: way we grade out Makai Lemon his profile in this offense,
[10:29] Speaker 3: we also don't expect them to lose out to Dantavian
[10:32] Speaker 3: Wick's long term and so I'm then asking myself, how
[10:35] Speaker 3: can I take advantage of one month, if at all,
[10:38] Speaker 3: of Dantavian Wicks being in two wide receiver sets. So
[10:41] Speaker 3: there's a lot of nuance I think mostly though you
[10:44] Speaker 3: saw it in aj Brown's ADP and Bestball for example,
[10:47] Speaker 3: that although we knew all reports came in two months
[10:51] Speaker 3: prior that he was going to be traded on June first,
[10:54] Speaker 3: the market had not reacted. Maybe that's because I think
[10:58] Speaker 3: this year, actually people joined best fall outside of the
[11:00] Speaker 3: people who talk about it every single day a little
[11:03] Speaker 3: bit later in the season, and good for them. Go outside.
[11:06] Speaker 3: It's somewhere we get like three months of it because
[11:08] Speaker 3: our earth is dying, Go enjoy it. That's okay. But
[11:12] Speaker 3: we saw the market then react by like a two
[11:14] Speaker 3: round cost once he was actually traded, And so these
[11:19] Speaker 3: are just moves that happened that we can take advantage of.
[11:22] Speaker 3: But for the most part, I practiced Jomo the joy
[11:24] Speaker 3: of missing out. I don't have many strengths in life,
[11:27] Speaker 3: but one of them is making sure I take in
[11:29] Speaker 3: all the information and then somehow spitting ninety nine percent
[11:33] Speaker 3: of it out and knowing that this won't matter. So yeah,
[11:36] Speaker 3: like I said, I try not to be stubborn, but
[11:38] Speaker 3: there are times where I definitely purposely am.
[11:41] Speaker 1: You kind of mentioned Best Ball there. I have had
[11:44] Speaker 1: this sort of take. I kind of tweeted about it
[11:45] Speaker 1: the other day as well. But do you think that
[11:48] Speaker 1: that best Ball has sort of seeped into season long
[11:50] Speaker 1: analysis a little bit too much? And I guess my
[11:54] Speaker 1: follow up to that would be, what do you think
[11:56] Speaker 1: the key differences are between someone listening to this right
[11:59] Speaker 1: now who's old a season long player, which honestly is
[12:01] Speaker 1: the majority of people listening to this right.
[12:03] Speaker 2: Now not playing best ball?
[12:05] Speaker 1: What are the differences and what they can maybe even
[12:07] Speaker 1: listen to as we as we talk about or anyone
[12:10] Speaker 1: talks about this stuff on their podcasts, you know, like,
[12:13] Speaker 1: what are the key differences between best ball and season
[12:16] Speaker 1: long in your opinion?
[12:17] Speaker 3: I'm actually more excited to get your opinion on this,
[12:19] Speaker 3: given that you are now officially a Best Ball bro.
[12:22] Speaker 3: But I think the biggest one is usable weeks, usable scores,
[12:27] Speaker 3: whereas in season long really don't care about usable scores.
[12:30] Speaker 3: Like if I draft a player even from the third
[12:33] Speaker 3: round on, that simply meets expectations. I'm not happy with that.
[12:37] Speaker 3: I'm always trying to exceed the expectations that ADP has
[12:40] Speaker 3: set for that player. Whereas Best Ball, even Mike Leoni
[12:44] Speaker 3: wrote it in his Best Ball Manifesto, had established the
[12:46] Speaker 3: run the worst thing you can do is take a zero,
[12:48] Speaker 3: like with those last round picks that everyone's speculating on
[12:51] Speaker 3: sixth and seventh round players that most likely won't even
[12:54] Speaker 3: make special teams for their own organizations. The worst thing
[12:57] Speaker 3: you can do is lose out. And say that as
[13:00] Speaker 3: someone who had Roshawn Johnson over cal him Anong Guy
[13:02] Speaker 3: everywhere in Best Ball last year, and those zeros when
[13:05] Speaker 3: Manung Guy was getting the touches in the last month
[13:07] Speaker 3: of the season absolutely killed me. So that is the
[13:10] Speaker 3: thing that I am most cautious about in particular.
[13:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a great point. I've said this
[13:15] Speaker 1: before too, where I said it on the show I
[13:17] Speaker 1: just recorded. Actually, but like someone like Chris Rodriguez, I
[13:20] Speaker 1: actually care a lot more about him in Best Ball
[13:22] Speaker 1: than I do in season long. I don't want a
[13:25] Speaker 1: guy who I know more than likely, you know, ninety
[13:27] Speaker 1: percent outcome is more than likely not gonna be much
[13:30] Speaker 1: of a pass catcher or like a huge league winner.
[13:32] Speaker 1: But he can definitely beat costs, and he can definitely
[13:34] Speaker 1: get work, and it might be unpredictable work.
[13:36] Speaker 2: We don't have to worry about that in Best Ball.
[13:39] Speaker 1: And so like it's this really odd dichotomy where I
[13:41] Speaker 1: think the average basketball player, or at least like the
[13:44] Speaker 1: newer basketball player, assumes that when you're in the late rounds,
[13:47] Speaker 1: you're you're aiming for ceiling, like you're you're just throwing
[13:49] Speaker 1: these darts where you're like, I can see an outcome
[13:51] Speaker 1: where this guy really beast modes and he's he's awesome,
[13:54] Speaker 1: and he you know, you get a fifteenth round pick
[13:56] Speaker 1: that ends up being the equivalent of a fourth round pick.
[13:58] Speaker 1: But realistically, yeah, sure, I mean that would be great,
[14:01] Speaker 1: but you know that the odds of that happening is
[14:02] Speaker 1: so low. You should be doing that more in season
[14:05] Speaker 1: long because you can make up for that mistake, that
[14:06] Speaker 1: inevitable mistake with the late round pick. Versus in best ball,
[14:10] Speaker 1: you actually kind of just want to buy points late
[14:13] Speaker 1: in your draft, Like you just want guys who you know.
[14:15] Speaker 1: I'm not saying ignore all the handcuffs and ignore, but
[14:18] Speaker 1: what I am saying is, like, I do think it's
[14:20] Speaker 1: important to make sure that you are covering your bases
[14:23] Speaker 1: with each position, that you're getting some production from those
[14:27] Speaker 1: guys that you are drafting late.
[14:28] Speaker 2: It's a different game from that perspective.
[14:30] Speaker 1: I also though, think like like when you you know,
[14:33] Speaker 1: because like you kind of have to toe the line
[14:35] Speaker 1: where with what you do at ETR especially, But if
[14:39] Speaker 1: you're consuming content or seeing how people are talking about
[14:42] Speaker 1: season long on social media, are you like of the
[14:46] Speaker 1: belief that we have been too like best ball brained
[14:50] Speaker 1: at this point, Like it's too there's too much emphasis
[14:53] Speaker 1: on what's going on in the best ball markets, and
[14:55] Speaker 1: there's not enough emphasis of what's going on in like
[14:58] Speaker 1: the home.
[14:58] Speaker 2: League market or like the esp or the Yahoo market.
[15:01] Speaker 3: Yes, but I don't blame that on anyone. That's just
[15:06] Speaker 3: all we've had to react to so far. You even
[15:09] Speaker 3: see sleepers ADP, for example, finally starting to move as
[15:13] Speaker 3: people just begin their season long drafts. I am also
[15:18] Speaker 3: now have some late rookie drafts and startups going on,
[15:21] Speaker 3: so everyone's tuning back in. Now now we can finally
[15:24] Speaker 3: start talking about season long ADP, which is you know,
[15:27] Speaker 3: given best Ball, which you've talked about, I've talked about,
[15:29] Speaker 3: We've all talked about in another show's Best Ball. This year,
[15:32] Speaker 3: in particular, it continues the ADP to differ greatly every
[15:37] Speaker 3: single season, the margin comes much wider this year, it's
[15:40] Speaker 3: so much wider because of the surge and quarterback ADP,
[15:44] Speaker 3: whereas even the QB two sometimes the QB three is
[15:47] Speaker 3: like Fernanda Mendoza for example, and Aaron Rodgers, like they're
[15:51] Speaker 3: going in the you know, twelfth through fourteenth round. That's
[15:54] Speaker 3: just not going to happen in a one QB even
[15:56] Speaker 3: Super Flex league. So that's what makes it so different,
[15:59] Speaker 3: is that ADP now is wild. But again, that's all
[16:01] Speaker 3: we've had to talk about so far, at least with
[16:03] Speaker 3: f FPC and FFC finally rolling on and becoming more popular,
[16:07] Speaker 3: now we can start talking about the season long chase.
[16:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
[16:11] Speaker 1: I think it's on us though, too, to make sure
[16:13] Speaker 1: we're being clear, you know, and saying like, hey, this
[16:16] Speaker 1: is this is based on bestball ADP. But like I
[16:18] Speaker 1: saw your good example, I saw.
[16:19] Speaker 3: Your tweets storry to cut you off by the way,
[16:21] Speaker 3: and you know the ego, and all of us immediately
[16:24] Speaker 3: asked ourselves, is he talking about me? And I started
[16:27] Speaker 3: thinking about segments I've done in the last like month,
[16:30] Speaker 3: is like, did I did I differentiate ADP? I don't know.
[16:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love I love sending those vague tweets out
[16:36] Speaker 1: and then like like Harmon responded and was like you
[16:37] Speaker 1: could have just told me this through text or something
[16:40] Speaker 1: like that, but like like and it's it's fair, like
[16:43] Speaker 1: I'm not, I'm not. I'm quite literally and not calling
[16:45] Speaker 1: anyone out. Whenever I say that, I mean that as
[16:47] Speaker 1: in like I do it. Sometimes we all do it.
[16:49] Speaker 1: Sometimes we're like, like, if I'm going to talk about
[16:52] Speaker 1: a guy's price, I want to be sure that they're
[16:54] Speaker 1: being specific about where that price is because we have
[16:56] Speaker 1: so many game types now and even on the difference
[16:59] Speaker 1: between the platforms, like Sleeper is still very influenced.
[17:03] Speaker 2: By Dynasty right now.
[17:04] Speaker 1: If you look at their eight, like I've seen videos
[17:06] Speaker 1: from people like on TikTok or wherever.
[17:09] Speaker 2: Where they're talking about RJ.
[17:10] Speaker 1: Harvey being a round five pick, and it's like he's
[17:12] Speaker 1: not a round five pick in any normal league, Like
[17:16] Speaker 1: it's just not happening. And so you're straw manning this right,
[17:19] Speaker 1: like you're just you're making it like I don't like RJ.
[17:21] Speaker 1: Harvey in round five either, Like, but I don't mind
[17:23] Speaker 1: him in round eight because that I'm only looking for
[17:25] Speaker 1: upside there and the opportunity cost is the equation completely shifts,
[17:29] Speaker 1: you know, and so like those are the examples like
[17:31] Speaker 1: Devon A. Chan's another one where in Bestball he goes
[17:34] Speaker 1: later than where he's going to go in your home league,
[17:36] Speaker 1: you know, like you're home like ESPN.
[17:38] Speaker 2: I think he's ranked.
[17:39] Speaker 1: I think his ADP's RB five, right, and in Bestball
[17:42] Speaker 1: it's like RB ten, And so that is a significant,
[17:46] Speaker 1: significant difference when you're talking about the early parts of
[17:48] Speaker 1: your draft. And so if the fantasy analyst out there
[17:51] Speaker 1: is like, hey, everyone's calling, uh, Devon a Chan a fade,
[17:55] Speaker 1: but that's ridiculous because he's the you know, I just
[17:57] Speaker 1: got him at RB eleven, it's like okay, But there
[18:00] Speaker 1: are areas and platforms and you know, season long formats
[18:04] Speaker 1: and you know, home leagues and such, where he's gonna
[18:06] Speaker 1: go RB five, RB six, where like that's that's you know,
[18:09] Speaker 1: RB eleven short. Like I think I have him ranked
[18:11] Speaker 1: as like RB ten, and I still listed to him
[18:13] Speaker 1: as a player to avoid in the draft guide because
[18:15] Speaker 1: there are these places in these spots where he goes
[18:18] Speaker 1: RB five, and so I think that's where we as
[18:22] Speaker 1: a as a group of analysts, you know, just need
[18:25] Speaker 1: to be smart and smarter about how we talk about
[18:29] Speaker 1: the cost.
[18:29] Speaker 2: Of these guys. You know at least be a little
[18:31] Speaker 2: bit more detailed and nuanced with it.
[18:32] Speaker 3: I also think we we have a having done this
[18:36] Speaker 3: for first gosh so long, now we have a good
[18:40] Speaker 3: we have our finger on the pulse of guessing which
[18:43] Speaker 3: way ADP's will go, because home leagues in particular, like
[18:47] Speaker 3: the hate usually goes really far and the love it's
[18:51] Speaker 3: vice versa. So Christian McCaffrey, although its ADP, you know,
[18:54] Speaker 3: is five six, you could easily see situations where he's
[18:57] Speaker 3: drafted two or three over b John Robinson over Ukunukua.
[19:00] Speaker 3: And so I also do like playing the guessing game
[19:02] Speaker 3: in that to make sure when I write and talk
[19:04] Speaker 3: about players that, at least for home leagues, the people
[19:07] Speaker 3: that are listening are either ahead or behind based on
[19:09] Speaker 3: those guesses.
[19:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean this is why in the end,
[19:12] Speaker 1: like if I'm being totally transparent, like I don't love
[19:15] Speaker 1: the players to target and avoid areas of my draft
[19:18] Speaker 1: guide because I think every you know, you can look
[19:21] Speaker 1: at the rankings and come up with them yourselves, Like
[19:23] Speaker 1: you just look at where I have guys ranked and
[19:25] Speaker 1: tiered to see like who I generally am high or
[19:28] Speaker 1: low on. To me, it's just like extra content and
[19:30] Speaker 1: extra context for people to see how I feel about
[19:34] Speaker 1: certain players. But one platform to another, one draft to another.
[19:38] Speaker 1: I just think it's getting messier and messier every year,
[19:41] Speaker 1: with Best Ball becoming as big as it's gotten, and
[19:43] Speaker 1: with all these other iterations of games and all these
[19:46] Speaker 1: different platforms.
[19:47] Speaker 2: Like the other thing too, is that like these other.
[19:49] Speaker 1: Platforms like an ESPN will have other game types now too.
[19:52] Speaker 1: That's just making it more convoluted, you know. Where It's like,
[19:55] Speaker 1: it isn't as simple as there's a consensus ADP that
[19:59] Speaker 1: we even but if there's websites that are pulling consensus,
[20:02] Speaker 1: the sites themselves are getting their ADP information via different
[20:07] Speaker 1: game Like I said, a sleeper like, it's still like
[20:09] Speaker 1: seems like there's still a dynasty influence with a lot
[20:11] Speaker 1: of the way that that that ADP has shaped up
[20:14] Speaker 1: right and like or there could be some influence. I
[20:17] Speaker 1: have no idea with like some of these bigger platforms
[20:19] Speaker 1: and some of the other game types that they're throwing
[20:21] Speaker 1: out there, we have no like, we don't have the
[20:23] Speaker 1: transparency to that. So we're only working with what we
[20:26] Speaker 1: can work with and hopefully the context.
[20:28] Speaker 3: You know.
[20:28] Speaker 1: That's why I think there needs to be more context,
[20:30] Speaker 1: but hopefully that context can help people.
[20:31] Speaker 3: I think the you know, the way things go in
[20:34] Speaker 3: and clicks and views kind of deciding what we do.
[20:37] Speaker 3: I think it's going to differentiate mightily this year. Like
[20:40] Speaker 3: in August, if you put out a best Ball draft
[20:42] Speaker 3: versus a super Flex mock, you come back and you
[20:45] Speaker 3: tell me which one has fifty thousand more views, and
[20:47] Speaker 3: I guarantee you it's going to be the super Flex Mok.
[20:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're definitely not wrong.
[20:52] Speaker 1: There's also been some discussion recently on social media about
[20:56] Speaker 1: the running back dead zone.
[20:57] Speaker 3: Now.
[20:59] Speaker 1: I kind of RETI hired from talking about it last
[21:01] Speaker 1: year just because for me it became like became a
[21:06] Speaker 1: little bit too dumbed down.
[21:07] Speaker 2: In a way.
[21:08] Speaker 1: But I guess my question to you is do you
[21:10] Speaker 1: think that the dead zone right now is still alive
[21:13] Speaker 1: and well? And how are you defining that too? That's
[21:15] Speaker 1: always the part that gets me is that some of
[21:17] Speaker 1: these concepts and some of the reasons why I've kind
[21:19] Speaker 1: of like shifted away from them is because they've become
[21:23] Speaker 1: so watered down and how we define them. And so
[21:26] Speaker 1: I'm just curious how you're like viewing the running back
[21:29] Speaker 1: dead zone, like how you define it and if you
[21:30] Speaker 1: think it's it's alive and well.
[21:32] Speaker 3: Well I wish you came back to fighting the good fight,
[21:35] Speaker 3: because now I don't think i've seen anyone mention like
[21:39] Speaker 3: the premise, the statue that fution Sean Siegel ben Gretch
[21:45] Speaker 3: I believe was part of it too, once built the
[21:48] Speaker 3: running back dead zone on Now everyone just says, that's
[21:51] Speaker 3: a dusty veteran who we don't trust. That's where the
[21:54] Speaker 3: dead zone starts, whereas like we should be looking, the
[21:58] Speaker 3: dead zone started because hit were significantly less in that
[22:03] Speaker 3: range compared to later rounds. Thus the dead zone then
[22:07] Speaker 3: ended whenever the hit rates got higher. And you know,
[22:10] Speaker 3: for drafting on buckets as opposed to individually nitpicking, this
[22:14] Speaker 3: is a veteran who I don't trust. We're just going
[22:16] Speaker 3: to most likely do better because we're taking a big
[22:18] Speaker 3: picture outlook with our draft. And so the last couple
[22:22] Speaker 3: of years, ADP has actually been fairly accurate in points
[22:27] Speaker 3: per game, always points per game, by the way, and
[22:29] Speaker 3: that's just because running backs have stayed healthy, even like
[22:34] Speaker 3: Javonte Williams in the eighth round last year is the
[22:37] Speaker 3: only RB one he finished top twelve in points per game.
[22:40] Speaker 3: He is the only RB one who was drafted outside
[22:42] Speaker 3: the third round these last two years because again everyone
[22:45] Speaker 3: stayed healthy and twenty twenty three though, so you only
[22:47] Speaker 3: have to go back a couple seasons. The hits included
[22:50] Speaker 3: undrafted Kiren Williams as the RB two both Raheem Moster
[22:54] Speaker 3: and Devon a. Chen and the tenth round as the
[22:56] Speaker 3: RB four and RB five under Mike McDaniel, and over
[22:59] Speaker 3: the last two years the RB thirteen through twenty four.
[23:01] Speaker 3: So an RB two who you can start literally every
[23:05] Speaker 3: week consistently has averaged a sixth round ADP thirty eight
[23:08] Speaker 3: percent of RB two's drafted from the seventh round on
[23:12] Speaker 3: the past couple of years as well. So in my opinion,
[23:15] Speaker 3: just based on the last two years, and again maybe
[23:18] Speaker 3: the health of starting running backs pushed you out of
[23:20] Speaker 3: this conversation, it seems the line seems to be moving
[23:23] Speaker 3: every single year, but at least based on health in
[23:26] Speaker 3: the last couple of years, it does seem like rounds
[23:28] Speaker 3: two through six are kind of where we're out on
[23:31] Speaker 3: running backs. And that's not a hard plan, right, Like,
[23:33] Speaker 3: I still like players in that range, but really, maybe
[23:36] Speaker 3: we getting to this later too, like last year, where
[23:39] Speaker 3: I had a very good idea of how I wanted
[23:42] Speaker 3: to draft, again always taking a big picture outlook. This year,
[23:45] Speaker 3: I do believe that third tier of wide receivers is
[23:48] Speaker 3: how you win your fantasy leagues and so so personally, like,
[23:51] Speaker 3: if you're blocking me from grabbing four of those guys,
[23:55] Speaker 3: I don't want you anyhow. And the running backs just
[23:59] Speaker 3: happen to fit in that range this year that dead
[24:01] Speaker 3: zone quote unquote, Yeah.
[24:03] Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to I'm gonna try to explain how
[24:05] Speaker 1: I feel I'll do this because yeah, because like it's
[24:08] Speaker 1: it's hard for me to articulate this. But if you
[24:10] Speaker 1: think about draft strategy as like for the consensus and
[24:14] Speaker 1: for the masses as a on a scale from zero
[24:17] Speaker 1: to one hundred, where zero is like a very very
[24:21] Speaker 1: running back heavy approach and one hundred being zero RB, right,
[24:26] Speaker 1: and and and if you think year to year the
[24:28] Speaker 1: way that the consensus views things, Okay.
[24:31] Speaker 2: It'll be on a scale from zero to one hundred.
[24:33] Speaker 1: Like back in twenty sixteen, it was like ninety because
[24:36] Speaker 1: people were going zero RB. They were talking about it
[24:38] Speaker 1: a lot, and like it was a very you know,
[24:40] Speaker 1: more common type thing. But then this year, maybe it's
[24:42] Speaker 1: like ten to twenty because people are more running back
[24:46] Speaker 1: heavy and they're they're going that direction more frequently.
[24:48] Speaker 2: The way I always have viewed draft.
[24:50] Speaker 1: Strategy and fantasy football has been more so in like
[24:53] Speaker 1: the thirty to seventy range. You know, like every year
[24:57] Speaker 1: it's all it's it's never been so extreme because I
[24:59] Speaker 1: don't think that the even the.
[25:01] Speaker 2: NFL meta changes.
[25:03] Speaker 1: Yes, it's changing, Fantasy Football's changing the way we do things,
[25:06] Speaker 1: but I think it's just.
[25:07] Speaker 2: So easy to overstate what that all really means.
[25:11] Speaker 1: And like, you know, the way that people are talking
[25:12] Speaker 1: about how running backs are getting drafted so much earlier
[25:15] Speaker 1: this year, it's.
[25:16] Speaker 2: They're really not getting drafted that much earlier this year.
[25:19] Speaker 1: You know, like that notion has more to do with
[25:21] Speaker 1: the fact that analysts are out there who are typically
[25:24] Speaker 1: zero RB analysts and maybe they're coming and seeing the
[25:27] Speaker 1: light a little bit more and they're now drafting running
[25:30] Speaker 1: backs earlier. And maybe it's all about the one two turn,
[25:33] Speaker 1: and that's that's how people are really viewing this. Is
[25:35] Speaker 1: that you know, last year was all these wide receivers
[25:38] Speaker 1: of the one two turn, and we felt really good
[25:39] Speaker 1: about the upside case for a lot of these wide outs.
[25:42] Speaker 1: But this year it's all running backs, and so now
[25:44] Speaker 1: we're going running back heavy. But I have it in
[25:46] Speaker 1: the guide, like the first four rounds of drafts, we're
[25:48] Speaker 1: draftingly one more running back year over year based on
[25:50] Speaker 1: ADEP you know, like like the first two rounds, it's
[25:53] Speaker 1: like it's like one or two. Like it's just not
[25:55] Speaker 1: a significant enough difference, right, And so I try to like,
[25:59] Speaker 1: like I I do think draft strategy matters a ton,
[26:02] Speaker 1: but I think draft strategy matters a ton for you
[26:04] Speaker 1: to be nimble while your draft is happening, you know,
[26:06] Speaker 1: for you to understand, oh, this is the way the
[26:09] Speaker 1: draft is going down right now. Oh, I know that
[26:11] Speaker 1: zero RB is an approach that I can take. I
[26:13] Speaker 1: know that hero RB is an approach I can take.
[26:15] Speaker 1: I know that going robust RB is an approach I
[26:18] Speaker 1: can take. Brock Bowers here, And this is what this means.
[26:20] Speaker 1: It's understanding what those strategies do to your overall team
[26:25] Speaker 1: construction based on how the draft is going down. And
[26:28] Speaker 1: that's why stuff like the running back dead zone to me,
[26:32] Speaker 1: has like from my perspective and the kind of advice
[26:36] Speaker 1: that I'm giving. I've tried to push it away a
[26:38] Speaker 1: little bit more because number one, I do think the
[26:41] Speaker 1: dead zone is sort of an archetype zone. Like there
[26:43] Speaker 1: are guys that beat the dead Zone consistently, but they're like,
[26:46] Speaker 1: you know, the younger pass catchers that are more ambiguous
[26:48] Speaker 1: because we don't know how talented they are. You know,
[26:50] Speaker 1: like the year one, year two guys who find themselves
[26:52] Speaker 1: in that range, they're pretty good bets. Usually the older guys,
[26:56] Speaker 1: or like the unproven guys who are in like year
[26:57] Speaker 1: three or four, who just you know, the Alexander A.
[27:00] Speaker 2: Madison's of the world when he was in the Dead Zone.
[27:01] Speaker 1: Or like Zamir White, which you know we I remember
[27:05] Speaker 1: famously us just destroying Zamir White on this very show,
[27:09] Speaker 1: your first Perspective episode that you did a couple years ago.
[27:11] Speaker 3: You have to learn your lesson every everyone always does
[27:13] Speaker 3: those clean up episodes at the end of the year
[27:15] Speaker 3: where these are on missus. These are my hits, yeah,
[27:18] Speaker 3: and I don't do those. I just expect everyone to
[27:22] Speaker 3: trust me and understand that I will eventually talk and
[27:24] Speaker 3: write about where I went wrong and right, but mostly
[27:26] Speaker 3: where I went wrong. But honestly, like if you if
[27:28] Speaker 3: you chased Mike Davis, Alexander Madison, Kenyon Brake, Aaron Jones
[27:33] Speaker 3: last year, like you just hadn't learned your lesson from
[27:35] Speaker 3: one of the guys prior before. Like when when we
[27:38] Speaker 3: learn our lesson, that's what usually the next year we're like, Okay,
[27:41] Speaker 3: obviously we know what to look for. We know what
[27:43] Speaker 3: to look for in Jerry and Price. Now sorry, yeah,
[27:46] Speaker 3: I didn't have to knock him down there. No, Yes,
[27:48] Speaker 3: that's what we know. What we know the alarm that sounds, Yeah,
[27:52] Speaker 3: it's true.
[27:52] Speaker 1: And this is why, Like again going back to like
[27:55] Speaker 1: the running back dead zone conversation, it's it's historically been
[27:58] Speaker 1: this range. As you know, did that hit rates have
[28:02] Speaker 1: been weaker versus what you're gonna get two or three
[28:04] Speaker 1: rounds later, right, the two or three rounds later. The
[28:06] Speaker 1: hit rates for those guys are from a ceiling perspective,
[28:10] Speaker 1: basically the same as what's that's what we have seen.
[28:13] Speaker 2: And I'm seeing all this talk.
[28:15] Speaker 1: About how like base shall Tuton is a classic dead
[28:18] Speaker 1: zone running back, and I just don't totally agree because
[28:21] Speaker 1: that misses the point about the archetypes, right, and the
[28:24] Speaker 1: the the archetypes in that range that. Listen to all
[28:28] Speaker 1: the guys you just mentioned, none of them were like
[28:31] Speaker 1: year two year one, you know, just got a bigger workload.
[28:34] Speaker 2: Type of situation.
[28:35] Speaker 1: Like I would agree that like a base Shall Tutin
[28:38] Speaker 1: is going earlier than where he ever would have gone,
[28:40] Speaker 1: you know, in the past, in terms of like what
[28:43] Speaker 1: he is his situation like to me, base Shall Tutin
[28:47] Speaker 1: and Chris Rodriguez, this is Chase Brown Zach Moss part
[28:50] Speaker 1: two in my opinion, where like you could you could
[28:54] Speaker 1: choose it's it's an ambiguous backfield, but we're seeing the
[28:57] Speaker 1: bigger gap exist between the upside player and the floor player,
[29:02] Speaker 1: Whereas the floor player back then was Zach Moss and
[29:05] Speaker 1: the upside player was the day three Chase Brown, Right,
[29:09] Speaker 1: And so the difference to me is that the market's
[29:12] Speaker 1: gotten a little bit sharper with some of this stuff.
[29:14] Speaker 1: Like in my opinion, I think Remandre would be going
[29:16] Speaker 1: ahead of Trayvon Henderson three or four years ago, you know,
[29:18] Speaker 1: just just based on like general performance. But people are
[29:22] Speaker 1: understanding the upside cases, and it makes our jobs a
[29:25] Speaker 1: lot more difficult to sift through and find players that
[29:27] Speaker 1: we really don't like at ADP because the mark is
[29:31] Speaker 1: just generally getting sharper, and so when it comes to
[29:33] Speaker 1: the dead zone, I think that there are definitely some
[29:36] Speaker 1: players in there where I'm.
[29:37] Speaker 2: Like, eh, yeah, it's kind of the dead zone kind
[29:40] Speaker 2: of profile overall.
[29:41] Speaker 1: But then at the same time, I think two things
[29:43] Speaker 1: are happening where after the dead zone's over, we don't
[29:46] Speaker 1: have as quite as many choices of upside swings after that,
[29:51] Speaker 1: just based on you know, Brandon Goadula did some really
[29:53] Speaker 1: really great work about where running back targets are essentially
[29:57] Speaker 1: going and the loss of the satellite back. Basically the
[30:01] Speaker 1: PPR scammers that we used to be able to drive
[30:03] Speaker 1: Chris Thompson's of the world that we could just get
[30:05] Speaker 1: in round twelve and lean on them, they don't really
[30:08] Speaker 1: exist anymore. And so that's kind of made that range
[30:12] Speaker 1: of the draft not be as conducive to getting good
[30:14] Speaker 1: value at running back, and so that makes the RB
[30:17] Speaker 1: two range where the dead zone is like a little
[30:19] Speaker 1: bit more enticing. But also I think the guys in
[30:22] Speaker 1: the dead zone area are just not as dead zoning necessarily.
[30:25] Speaker 1: There's still some, but they're not as like as obvious.
[30:29] Speaker 1: Would you agree with that or do you still think
[30:32] Speaker 1: that it's no different than like other seasons.
[30:34] Speaker 3: I agree, because even the individuals who have been poking
[30:37] Speaker 3: holes in all off season, I obviously see away where
[30:41] Speaker 3: they're in RB one and we're starting them weekly. That's
[30:45] Speaker 3: where they don't drop out like the RB dead zone
[30:48] Speaker 3: in the past. Right. But at the same time, again,
[30:51] Speaker 3: when I'm looking at breakouts and those archetypes, I do
[30:55] Speaker 3: think again that third tier of wide receivers is looking
[30:58] Speaker 3: to target, and so these running backs are just kind
[31:00] Speaker 3: of in my way. Also, this is why I wanted
[31:03] Speaker 3: you to talk about this on this show with me
[31:06] Speaker 3: because and I don't I don't come on your show
[31:09] Speaker 3: to compliment you here, I'm doing this because I genuinely
[31:11] Speaker 3: think you're the best at breaking down like the archetypes
[31:14] Speaker 3: we chase. I'll happily make fun of you along the
[31:16] Speaker 3: way later, don't worry about it, but you are the
[31:18] Speaker 3: best at this. So I'm glad you input that inpay.
[31:23] Speaker 1: Let's talk about that that area, Like when you say
[31:25] Speaker 1: that there are players that you're poking holes in, but
[31:27] Speaker 1: you can still see the upside case, like who are
[31:28] Speaker 1: some of those players, some of those running backs in.
[31:30] Speaker 3: Terms of the consequential ADP Because no one cares if
[31:34] Speaker 3: I'm fading like a six to eight round running back. Whatever,
[31:36] Speaker 3: we can chase that later. I do think Kirin Williams
[31:40] Speaker 3: is one of them that stands out last year if
[31:42] Speaker 3: you look at just like the splits PREA and post
[31:45] Speaker 3: by because historically, remember Sean McVay has leaned on what
[31:48] Speaker 3: we've always said is, you know, running back with ninety
[31:50] Speaker 3: percent of the team's touches, and through Week seven he
[31:53] Speaker 3: did handle seventy four percent of the Rams backfield touches
[31:56] Speaker 3: eighteen per game. But then afterwards, in his last thirteen contests,
[32:00] Speaker 3: including the postseason, it was only sixty percent of the
[32:03] Speaker 3: team's touches. Not only that, but the guy behind him,
[32:06] Speaker 3: Blake corn he was then splitting with led all running
[32:08] Speaker 3: backs in success rate, and Kyra Williams, by the way,
[32:11] Speaker 3: finished second in success rate. That's Sean mcface that pretty much.
[32:14] Speaker 3: But also Blake Corum finished second only Devon h Chan
[32:17] Speaker 3: and their rates of ten yard carries. So if we're
[32:19] Speaker 3: talking about now backfield split and Kyra Williams is going
[32:22] Speaker 3: with the second third round turn, that's a player I
[32:24] Speaker 3: can easily just get away from personally. And then the
[32:27] Speaker 3: other one again when you talk about not necessarily dropping out,
[32:32] Speaker 3: but you know, pleasing myself in the corner with an
[32:35] Speaker 3: RB twelve that finishes an RB fourteen or vice versa,
[32:38] Speaker 3: Gavanti Williams. It's kind of that same argument for me,
[32:41] Speaker 3: the same argument I've been making for George Pickens too,
[32:44] Speaker 3: because they both hit career highs in practically every category.
[32:47] Speaker 3: Javanti Williams, it was his fifth year, but you would
[32:50] Speaker 3: not have won your league at his current cost the
[32:54] Speaker 3: third round, since he finished his last year's RB twelve
[32:56] Speaker 3: in points per game, and now he's being drafted five
[32:59] Speaker 3: rounds ear around elite players. So it's just a harder
[33:02] Speaker 3: pill to swallow since the last thing I'm trying to do,
[33:05] Speaker 3: we've discussed this already and season long, is draft a
[33:08] Speaker 3: player who will meet expectations.
[33:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[33:12] Speaker 1: I think that those are two very interesting callouts because
[33:16] Speaker 1: you can see the path. They're in good environments, like
[33:18] Speaker 1: like you noted, you can see the obvious like way
[33:21] Speaker 1: that that can go. And this is this is where
[33:23] Speaker 1: I was talking about it's hard to be a fantasy
[33:25] Speaker 1: and I mean, it's not hard to be a fantasy analyst,
[33:27] Speaker 1: but you know what I'm saying, Like we're not We're
[33:28] Speaker 1: not doing guys, trust me that we know that we're
[33:30] Speaker 1: not doing anything important here. But when it comes to
[33:33] Speaker 1: being an analyst and trying to point out players that
[33:36] Speaker 1: you're down on, Kien Williams and Javante Williams are scary
[33:41] Speaker 1: players for that to be the case, even if I
[33:45] Speaker 1: totally agree from a process standpoint, I've talked about Javante
[33:48] Speaker 1: in particular, where like, his receiving profile is horrendous. He
[33:53] Speaker 1: was horrible per route run last year, and historically that
[33:57] Speaker 1: carries over really poorly.
[33:59] Speaker 2: And it's one of those things where you sit here.
[34:03] Speaker 1: It's similar to like how any other dead zone type
[34:06] Speaker 1: discussion has gone in the past, where you sit there
[34:08] Speaker 1: and you're like, well, who else is going to touch
[34:10] Speaker 1: the ball? The instant you start doing that is the
[34:12] Speaker 1: instant that you start to make excuses for that player,
[34:16] Speaker 1: because everything you should be doing should be focused on
[34:20] Speaker 1: that player himself and how talented that player is. And
[34:23] Speaker 1: with Davonte Williams, you're sitting there like, well, Jayden Blue
[34:27] Speaker 1: didn't do anything last year. You know, Malik Davis didn't
[34:29] Speaker 1: do much last year, Like what is this going to
[34:30] Speaker 1: look like from a pass catching perspective. But then there
[34:33] Speaker 1: is like, on paper, he is a dead zone running
[34:37] Speaker 1: like he looks like it does a running Another guy
[34:39] Speaker 1: that I think looks like that is David Montgomery on paper.
[34:42] Speaker 1: I don't have him as a fade because, like, especially
[34:45] Speaker 1: when I look at certain platforms, I'm actually like right
[34:46] Speaker 1: in line with where they have him ranked.
[34:48] Speaker 2: So I can't call him a fade.
[34:49] Speaker 1: But certainly based on and we'll get to this in
[34:52] Speaker 1: a second two because of the wide receiver stuff, but
[34:55] Speaker 1: based on where he's going, I haven't drafted a ton
[34:56] Speaker 1: of him. I haven't drafted a ton of Jamonte Williams
[34:59] Speaker 1: and Kiren, as you noted, because they do have those
[35:04] Speaker 1: typical flags that we point out in the dead zone
[35:08] Speaker 1: where like the receiving profile isn't super strong. Even Kyron,
[35:12] Speaker 1: like the Rams s talking to Brandon Godula about this yesterday,
[35:15] Speaker 1: the Rams consistently over the last like seven or eight
[35:18] Speaker 1: years have been bottom three in running back targets here
[35:21] Speaker 1: year in and year out. They just do not use
[35:23] Speaker 1: their running backs through the air. And Kyen has been
[35:27] Speaker 1: you know, I know that the masses out there people
[35:30] Speaker 1: listening to this, They're like, you guys, talk down Kyron
[35:33] Speaker 1: every year and then he just comes out in these smashes. Well,
[35:35] Speaker 1: he wasn't smashing the way you think he was smashing
[35:37] Speaker 1: during the second part of the last season. It wasn't
[35:39] Speaker 1: like so unbelievable that he was like, must have our
[35:42] Speaker 1: top five running back. And so I do think that,
[35:45] Speaker 1: like the individual players here that we're talking about are
[35:49] Speaker 1: players that do fit the archetype of a running back
[35:53] Speaker 1: in the running back dead zone. The hard part is
[35:56] Speaker 1: they're in objectively pretty good environments.
[35:59] Speaker 3: You know.
[35:59] Speaker 2: That's the hard part for me to reconcile. But I
[36:02] Speaker 2: agree with you.
[36:03] Speaker 1: And but to that point, there is an opportunity cost
[36:06] Speaker 1: involved here. And this is where I think makes it
[36:08] Speaker 1: easier to fade or to be more on the fade side,
[36:11] Speaker 1: at least for me with with some of these guys,
[36:13] Speaker 1: is the wide receivers in that area we're looking at
[36:16] Speaker 1: this like third to fifth round wide receiver range. We'll
[36:20] Speaker 1: start with like we'll say, like Zay Flowers, you know,
[36:22] Speaker 1: like where Chris Alave around there all the way to
[36:24] Speaker 1: like Christian Watson. You seem to be into that range.
[36:27] Speaker 1: I'm into that range. It's like we had this range
[36:30] Speaker 1: last year too that I really were like Pickens was
[36:32] Speaker 1: going and stuff where I was into. But this year
[36:34] Speaker 1: it's even beefier, it's even it's even more amazing. And
[36:38] Speaker 1: so my question to you is, who are your favorites
[36:40] Speaker 1: from that range and why is it that you're willing
[36:43] Speaker 1: to take some of those guys over a Javante or
[36:46] Speaker 1: a you know, Montgomery if you're in the you know,
[36:48] Speaker 1: if you're in the same camp with Montgomery, or even
[36:50] Speaker 1: a Chiren if.
[36:51] Speaker 3: We're predicting twenty twenty seven ADP. It's mostly because these
[36:54] Speaker 3: third round guys I believe can exceed where they're being drafted,
[36:58] Speaker 3: and they've all flashed that ceiling for us. Gosh, how
[37:03] Speaker 3: much time do we have? But the list of these
[37:04] Speaker 3: wide receivers, which is why again I'm focusing my drafts
[37:07] Speaker 3: around it entirely. Let's start with Zay Flowers, so you
[37:10] Speaker 3: mentioned at the top there, who to this point hasn't
[37:13] Speaker 3: finished as a top twenty four wide receiver in points
[37:15] Speaker 3: per game, mostly because of how he's been used. He's
[37:18] Speaker 3: never had more than seven end zone targets in any
[37:21] Speaker 3: of his seasons in his career. Baltimore also averaged the
[37:25] Speaker 3: second US pass attempts the last decade twenty four point
[37:29] Speaker 3: eight last season, and the six teams to average fewer
[37:32] Speaker 3: than twenty seven attempts in that span the last ten
[37:35] Speaker 3: years collectively increase their passes per game by six point
[37:39] Speaker 3: one the following year. Also not to mention a young
[37:42] Speaker 3: and intuitive play caller we expect and Decklan Doyle who
[37:45] Speaker 3: comes from the Ben Johnson coaching trees. So I do
[37:48] Speaker 3: think Zay Flowers finally squinting and assuming I shouldn't just
[37:51] Speaker 3: put this on him, assuming a different route tree that'll
[37:54] Speaker 3: finally get used inside the red zone. I do think
[37:57] Speaker 3: there is a chance for Jay Flowers to also finally
[38:00] Speaker 3: have a ceiling and bounce back with Lamar Jackson, who
[38:02] Speaker 3: just had a seven year low in points per game,
[38:05] Speaker 3: not expecting that for them either. A Mecca Buka is
[38:09] Speaker 3: the big one I've been focusing my drafts around. You
[38:11] Speaker 3: don't average, you know, twenty points per game as the
[38:15] Speaker 3: top wide receiver for a six week stretch there unless
[38:18] Speaker 3: you unless you have a ceiling, it just doesn't go
[38:20] Speaker 3: away like it did last year and Godwin, Chris Godwin
[38:24] Speaker 3: and Buka shared the field for one hundred and thirty
[38:26] Speaker 3: five routes without Mike Evans last year, Evans, who has
[38:28] Speaker 3: since moved on to San Francisco, and Buka led the
[38:31] Speaker 3: team with a thirty one percent target share, you know,
[38:33] Speaker 3: despite the poor production in that opportunity. So I'm going
[38:36] Speaker 3: back to a healthy Baker Mayfield and in Mecca Bucha.
[38:39] Speaker 3: Ladi McConkie is a big one. Maybe we'll get to
[38:42] Speaker 3: the Chargers and Justin Herbert later on, but McDaniel's Dolphins
[38:46] Speaker 3: led the league in their rate of dropbacks that included
[38:49] Speaker 3: motion sixty nine percent of plays during his four year
[38:52] Speaker 3: tenure there, and Ladi McConkie for his career, has averaged
[38:55] Speaker 3: a twenty two and a half percent target share from motion.
[38:58] Speaker 3: For reference, heage a twenty two point nine percent target
[39:02] Speaker 3: share for fifteen points per game in twenty twenty four
[39:04] Speaker 3: his rookie year, which everyone then chased in the second
[39:07] Speaker 3: round at last year's ADP. So I'm just going right
[39:10] Speaker 3: back in a significantly improved offense. Terry McLaurin is another
[39:15] Speaker 3: one under David Blough who we now expect to go
[39:19] Speaker 3: more under center, pass heavy, and focus on Terry McLaurin.
[39:21] Speaker 3: But more importantly, in twenty twenty four, without Deebo Samuel
[39:24] Speaker 3: McLaurin had career high markson en zone targets and points
[39:28] Speaker 3: per game. Last year when Diebo was injured, McLaurin was
[39:31] Speaker 3: targeted on thirty percent of his routes, the eighth highest rate.
[39:34] Speaker 2: In the league.
[39:34] Speaker 3: From Jayden Daniels as well, So I'm backing on McLaurin.
[39:38] Speaker 3: Jaylen Waddle without Tyreek Hill from week five on, led
[39:42] Speaker 3: the league in air yards, was targeted on twenty eight
[39:44] Speaker 3: percent of its routes and was fifth in yards per
[39:47] Speaker 3: route run. Now I actually don't. I've seen we talk
[39:50] Speaker 3: about news that doesn't matter. The news aggregators are putting
[39:53] Speaker 3: out there that Sean Payton is called Jaylen Waddle as
[39:56] Speaker 3: Joker but like far for Peyton's ten yere and Denver
[39:59] Speaker 3: joker short for we won't give you the ball, So
[40:01] Speaker 3: I don't like that at all. But jayalen Walda on
[40:05] Speaker 3: a per route baso, so it's quite literally one of
[40:07] Speaker 3: the best wide receivers in the league. Everyone just forgets
[40:09] Speaker 3: because McDaniel was too busy scheming around all of two
[40:12] Speaker 3: of his weaknesses as he fell apart last year and
[40:15] Speaker 3: then finally just one more quick one because he's gonna
[40:17] Speaker 3: go a lot later than those guys. Mike Evans is
[40:19] Speaker 3: being drafted around DJ Moore, who I also I don't
[40:22] Speaker 3: mind as much as like public consensus drowns out DJ Moore.
[40:26] Speaker 3: But Mike Evans scored his fewest touchdowns in the last decade,
[40:29] Speaker 3: just three last year because he played a career low
[40:32] Speaker 3: eight games. Maybe that's happens again. But if healthy, at
[40:35] Speaker 3: least we know Kyle Shanahan's offense has finished top nine
[40:38] Speaker 3: and yards per attempt and every season since twenty nineteen
[40:41] Speaker 3: it's one of the best offenses in the league to chase.
[40:42] Speaker 3: So if Evans is healthy, he's one of those guys
[40:45] Speaker 3: like Will Fuller, I think, when on the field, will
[40:48] Speaker 3: compete weekly to be a top twelve wide receiver. Went
[40:50] Speaker 3: off the field, you at least know he tried to
[40:53] Speaker 3: win your league when he was healthy, right right.
[40:56] Speaker 1: The crazy thing is you just went through like six
[40:59] Speaker 1: or seven wider receivers and made the most obvious you know, Like,
[41:03] Speaker 1: I'm not saying that the case that you made was obvious.
[41:04] Speaker 1: I just mean that, like the cases that you made
[41:08] Speaker 1: showed that there's an obvious ceiling with each of those guys,
[41:11] Speaker 1: and there's still more in that range. Christian Watson obviously
[41:14] Speaker 1: has a high ceiling. Luther Burden obviously has a high ceiling.
[41:17] Speaker 1: Tedoro McMillan like the situation, I mean, situationally it's frightening,
[41:22] Speaker 1: but him himself is a beast, right, Like, there's all
[41:25] Speaker 1: of these Garrett Wilson's in that range, and maybe the
[41:28] Speaker 1: Jets are a lot. Like, there's just so many good
[41:30] Speaker 1: wide receivers in that area of your draft that it
[41:34] Speaker 1: makes it so much easier to go, especially if you're
[41:38] Speaker 1: in like the the middle of your draft or like
[41:40] Speaker 1: the bet wherever to go RBRB pound wide receiver, And
[41:45] Speaker 1: all of a sudden you're sitting with four really good
[41:47] Speaker 1: wide receivers that have legit wide receiver one upside, all
[41:50] Speaker 1: while not having to worry about hitting these potential land
[41:53] Speaker 1: mines in the dead zone of like, and we didn't
[41:54] Speaker 1: even talk about like Travis Etn either, where like there's
[41:57] Speaker 1: some concern with that and what that could look like,
[41:59] Speaker 1: but like, some of them will be fine, some of
[42:01] Speaker 1: the running backs will hit. I just have moved towards
[42:04] Speaker 1: more of the younger players in that range, the younger
[42:07] Speaker 1: running backs. If I'm going to get a running back,
[42:09] Speaker 1: the Tutans, you know who's going later in season long
[42:12] Speaker 1: than he is in Best Ball. Cam Skataboo, I think
[42:14] Speaker 1: is an interesting pick because I think if he weren't hurt,
[42:17] Speaker 1: he'd be like a two to three turn type player
[42:19] Speaker 1: instead of a round four type player. But like, it's
[42:22] Speaker 1: just so glaringly clear to me that those wide receivers
[42:27] Speaker 1: are such good high upside bets when especially like if
[42:31] Speaker 1: you're in an auction, you can just get those dudes, Like,
[42:35] Speaker 1: just get as many of those guys as you want
[42:37] Speaker 1: and then get an anchor at running back and you're
[42:39] Speaker 1: good to go.
[42:40] Speaker 2: You know.
[42:40] Speaker 3: I also naturally think the run on running backs that
[42:44] Speaker 3: usually happens in most home leagues will then force the
[42:48] Speaker 3: rest of the room to chase that position. And while
[42:50] Speaker 3: they're chasing again, whether it's hero zero, robust, if you're
[42:54] Speaker 3: at the back, whatever it is, then you just pick
[42:56] Speaker 3: apart those wide receivers while people are drafting these running
[42:59] Speaker 3: back that again can can meet their floors, can meet expectations,
[43:03] Speaker 3: but we question whether they can exceed it despite being
[43:06] Speaker 3: in good environments. That's kind of like the whole argument
[43:08] Speaker 3: I've been making for you know, I even I like
[43:11] Speaker 3: Dave Montgomery. It sounds like more than you. But also
[43:13] Speaker 3: I understand ADP and like, think about it, Dave Montgomery
[43:17] Speaker 3: and Chewba Hubbard are being drafted in the same round
[43:20] Speaker 3: as Jalen Hurts, And what effing world are you taking
[43:24] Speaker 3: a running back like those guys over Jalen Hurts the
[43:28] Speaker 3: QB one fantasy in the past. Yeah, I'm trying to
[43:31] Speaker 3: win the league. I'm not trying to find the RB
[43:33] Speaker 3: thirteen Like who cares?
[43:35] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[43:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, Like like again, I don't. I don't want anyone
[43:38] Speaker 1: to walk away thinking that. Like I have a firm
[43:40] Speaker 1: stance especially on like Montgomery because he's going later than
[43:42] Speaker 1: I expected.
[43:43] Speaker 2: On season long platforms.
[43:45] Speaker 3: Uh.
[43:45] Speaker 1: Just to be honest with you, the case is more
[43:48] Speaker 1: about the other players that go around these guys at
[43:50] Speaker 1: different positions, you know, Like that's where the target and
[43:54] Speaker 1: avoid stuff needs to be focused on a little bit
[43:57] Speaker 1: more at this point as opposed to like positional rank.
[43:59] Speaker 1: I don't know I have that big of a difference
[44:00] Speaker 1: in positional rank with like Kyron, for instance, But I'm
[44:03] Speaker 1: underweight on kyn because of the other positions that are
[44:08] Speaker 1: going around him and how good they look, you know,
[44:10] Speaker 1: So my overall rank with a player like Hyrien or
[44:13] Speaker 1: with a player like Javonte is lower than what other
[44:17] Speaker 1: sources or ADPs might look like. It's just because, like
[44:20] Speaker 1: you said, the wide receivers are so good, and then
[44:22] Speaker 1: eventually you get to that point where you're like, yeah,
[44:24] Speaker 1: I mean like, I'll take one of the elite quarterbacks
[44:26] Speaker 1: because if especially in Best Ball right now, with.
[44:28] Speaker 2: The QB two is being pushed up so much, it's.
[44:30] Speaker 1: Like you're gaining more value with the elite guys in
[44:34] Speaker 1: that range that they go in regular home lea drafts.
[44:36] Speaker 1: I think waiting on quarterbacks and me a little bit
[44:38] Speaker 1: easier than what it is in Best Ball right though.
[44:40] Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, Like as much as I love Jayde
[44:44] Speaker 3: Daniels and Jalen Hurts in particular, who I think, based
[44:48] Speaker 3: on ADP will probably get drafted after a pocket statue
[44:51] Speaker 3: like Joe Burrow. Not to say burrows range of outcomes
[44:53] Speaker 3: doesn't include outscoring them, but I just think it's a
[44:56] Speaker 3: bad bet to make based historically, especially the last few years,
[44:59] Speaker 3: given to edge on rushing quarterbacks and Daniels and Hurt's
[45:03] Speaker 3: performance in the past. But like in home leagues, it's
[45:06] Speaker 3: gonna be really hard for me not just to wait
[45:07] Speaker 3: on Malik Willis or Kyler Murray. Yeah, given that, I
[45:10] Speaker 3: know we're going to get the rushing floor. And I
[45:12] Speaker 3: do believe, like if you're talking about a one quarterback
[45:14] Speaker 3: fifteen round draft, which most home leagues are, they're going
[45:17] Speaker 3: to go in the fourteenth or fifteen round.
[45:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, one.
[45:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, trust me, I've talked. I've tried to preach my
[45:21] Speaker 3: friends on it. No one wants Kyler Murray except me
[45:24] Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six. That's okay.
[45:26] Speaker 2: And I think in those environments it's fine.
[45:27] Speaker 1: I've gotten this question plenty, but I think double tapping
[45:30] Speaker 1: quarterback that late is fine.
[45:32] Speaker 2: If you want to if you want to get both Kyler.
[45:33] Speaker 1: And Malik Willis to just you know, increase your odds
[45:36] Speaker 1: and hitting on one of them or Tyler Shuck or whoever. Right, Like,
[45:39] Speaker 1: it makes sense to to go that direction, you know,
[45:42] Speaker 1: because your goal is to match what some of the
[45:44] Speaker 1: highering quarterbacks are going to do, and you know one
[45:47] Speaker 1: way in doing that is to really increase your odds
[45:49] Speaker 1: by having multiple darts at the position. We talked about
[45:51] Speaker 1: so many wide receivers. Are there any wide outs of
[45:53] Speaker 1: you're fading this year?
[45:54] Speaker 3: You kind of hit on one. Actually that although I
[45:58] Speaker 3: like that entire block, it's not that I'm necessarily fading.
[46:00] Speaker 3: I like this conversation we're having, by the way I
[46:02] Speaker 3: should have expected from us. Shout out to us, But
[46:05] Speaker 3: we keep talking about players, but the other positions around them,
[46:09] Speaker 3: So good on us, rather than just saying, you know,
[46:11] Speaker 3: this wide receiver I don't have ranked as highly I
[46:15] Speaker 3: am looking at. You know, I keep looking at this
[46:17] Speaker 3: tier of wide receivers, all the guys I mentioned, and
[46:20] Speaker 3: so naturally then I move Tterrolla McMillan down. I understand,
[46:25] Speaker 3: you know, the bowal case. That makes me lose for that. Also, yeah,
[46:29] Speaker 3: if you're looking over when Jalen Coker became a starter
[46:32] Speaker 3: in the last five weeks of the season and including
[46:34] Speaker 3: the playoffs, Jalen Coker actually had a higher target share,
[46:38] Speaker 3: and you look at the postseason, even Coker doubled up
[46:41] Speaker 3: teterrollanmillan thirty percent target share, So it's fifteen percent. And
[46:45] Speaker 3: I'm not even saying like I'm going to draft Jalen
[46:48] Speaker 3: Cocher in his range. That's probably where I'll actually be
[46:50] Speaker 3: trying to grab upside running backs, even if they're handcuffs.
[46:53] Speaker 3: But I'm saying that Terroll McMillan, like that's his range
[46:56] Speaker 3: of outcomes, perhaps losing targets to a comp throughout the year.
[47:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the situation there sucks, Like Bryce Young.
[47:04] Speaker 3: Is the the situation sucks. You're right, that's the easier
[47:07] Speaker 3: way to say it. All.
[47:08] Speaker 1: It's like the least friendly fantasy environment from from like
[47:11] Speaker 1: a quarterback to wide receiver perspective that you can almost
[47:14] Speaker 1: you know, it's like a it's like a tenth percentile
[47:16] Speaker 1: type situation and we know they love to run the ball,
[47:19] Speaker 1: and so it's it's just and I think the defense
[47:21] Speaker 1: is gonna be better.
[47:21] Speaker 2: This year, which is a problem.
[47:22] Speaker 3: So I was Young at TB twenty nine and points
[47:25] Speaker 3: bring him back to back year is just like fodder
[47:27] Speaker 3: for super flex leagues Like yeah, yeahs situation.
[47:30] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[47:30] Speaker 1: I mean like t mac is a friend of the
[47:32] Speaker 1: show first off, but t mac is very much just
[47:35] Speaker 1: in a situational hell. I mean he checks every box
[47:39] Speaker 1: from a stand from like a first downs per route
[47:41] Speaker 1: run and all all all the route run per route
[47:43] Speaker 1: run stuff that we look at. But I think you
[47:45] Speaker 1: have to look at the fact that it's just a
[47:47] Speaker 1: rough environment and you're drafting him amongst wide receivers.
[47:50] Speaker 2: This is this is the reason that I've been lower
[47:52] Speaker 2: on Garrett Wilson than the Mark. I know.
[47:53] Speaker 1: I think ETR is really high on Wilson if I
[47:56] Speaker 1: recall correctly, And I know that some of the other
[47:58] Speaker 1: guys are too that respect, but I just I look
[48:02] Speaker 1: at the other like some of these environments for these
[48:05] Speaker 1: wide outs that are just in better offenses. And Garrett Wilson,
[48:11] Speaker 1: I think he's very talented, but at some point we
[48:14] Speaker 1: got to be like, are we doing this again?
[48:16] Speaker 3: You know?
[48:16] Speaker 2: Are we are?
[48:17] Speaker 3: We?
[48:17] Speaker 1: Are we hurting ourselves again by by doing this when
[48:20] Speaker 1: he's never had a season above a two yards per
[48:22] Speaker 1: route run. You know, he's playing with Geno Smith and
[48:26] Speaker 1: Frank Reich and like, we can make the Bowl case
[48:28] Speaker 1: for sure, and I see it and I understand it.
[48:31] Speaker 1: But you can do the exact same thing with so
[48:33] Speaker 1: many other wide receivers in that range.
[48:34] Speaker 3: You know.
[48:34] Speaker 1: That's that's the problem that I've run into with Wilson.
[48:37] Speaker 1: I haven't faded well. I'm actually even in best Bob
[48:39] Speaker 1: still at like six or seven percent. But I do
[48:42] Speaker 1: think that he's a He's a minor minor phage is
[48:44] Speaker 1: based on some of the other wide it's just all
[48:46] Speaker 1: all given situation.
[48:47] Speaker 2: It's a very similar thing to to TMAC.
[48:49] Speaker 3: For you, Garrett Wilson and Jamar Chase Jackson's the jigbu
[48:52] Speaker 3: the only three receivers in the league to finish with
[48:54] Speaker 3: thirty percent of their team's targets. But like you, I'm
[48:57] Speaker 3: also fading him and again per route basis totally fine
[49:00] Speaker 3: Creve be caon earn targets. But also when you mentioned
[49:03] Speaker 3: something like the improved situation with Gino Smith, Uh, there's
[49:07] Speaker 3: just there's no chance Gino Smith starts all seventeen games
[49:10] Speaker 3: for a losing T's just no chance. Yeah, So I'm
[49:13] Speaker 3: baking that in that the situation probably gets a lot
[49:15] Speaker 3: worse even if it starts out good.
[49:17] Speaker 1: Super super volatile situation and you know they added weapons there,
[49:21] Speaker 1: Like who knows what that looks like. I just I
[49:23] Speaker 1: you know, I think Gary Wilson's really really talented, And
[49:25] Speaker 1: it's one of those things it's just hard as an
[49:27] Speaker 1: analyst to be like, yeah, I like you know a
[49:30] Speaker 1: Mecca Buca more, or I like you know this wider
[49:33] Speaker 1: serial I like Luther Burden more than Garrett Wilson right now,
[49:36] Speaker 1: And people probably think that's like too hot of a take,
[49:39] Speaker 1: but I just see an insane ceiling for a player
[49:41] Speaker 1: like Burden, where I think the floors are worse for Burden.
[49:44] Speaker 1: But if I'm going with the typical draft that I
[49:47] Speaker 1: go with and Burden ends up as my two or three,
[49:50] Speaker 1: then it's a lot easier to swallow that, right. Similar
[49:53] Speaker 1: to base Shall Tuton. If Ba shall Tune's my running
[49:55] Speaker 1: back three, it is the greatest situation that is Toton
[49:58] Speaker 1: does an RB three is so beyond perfect, Like that
[50:01] Speaker 1: is exactly what you want to do in fantasy football,
[50:04] Speaker 1: you know, like get get three if you're getting them
[50:07] Speaker 1: in round six and season long leagues, which you will
[50:09] Speaker 1: be able to in a lot of home leagues, and
[50:10] Speaker 1: you go, you get two running backs early, you get
[50:13] Speaker 1: three wide receivers from the zone that we're talking about,
[50:15] Speaker 1: and then be shall Tooton is your RB three. I
[50:17] Speaker 1: can't think of a better start than that in terms
[50:20] Speaker 1: of weighing risk reward, understanding range of outcomes, and just
[50:24] Speaker 1: potentially having a super team in the end if things
[50:27] Speaker 1: really do hit.
[50:28] Speaker 2: For a player like that. That's just the way that
[50:30] Speaker 2: I think about fantasy football.
[50:31] Speaker 3: On the considering I'm going into most leagues prepared to
[50:33] Speaker 3: have Jalen Warren as about RB two. Given like where
[50:36] Speaker 3: I'm zooming back out after the wide receivers and the
[50:39] Speaker 3: elite quarterbacks. I would love tooton as my RB two
[50:42] Speaker 3: or three. That'd be incredible.
[50:44] Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of validity though, to going
[50:47] Speaker 1: hero RB this year, Like I go, I go here
[50:49] Speaker 1: RB a lot like it's a very frequent strategy that
[50:52] Speaker 1: I've gone through and used for for years and years,
[50:55] Speaker 1: and I think it's very valid again this year because
[50:57] Speaker 1: there are middle round running backs that I wrote, Warren
[51:00] Speaker 1: being one that.
[51:01] Speaker 2: I really really like.
[51:03] Speaker 1: The problem that I it's gonna be easier to do that,
[51:06] Speaker 1: I think in less sharp rooms because people are on
[51:11] Speaker 1: seemingly maybe you disagree with this, but on a lot
[51:14] Speaker 1: of the same middle round running backs like a Jonathan
[51:17] Speaker 1: Brooks or something for upside case purposes, right like, they
[51:21] Speaker 1: would be on those guys, so they might dry up
[51:23] Speaker 1: a little bit quicker than you would like and you
[51:24] Speaker 1: would get sniped. Then all of a sudden you're like, hey,
[51:27] Speaker 1: my RB two spot's not looking nearly as good as
[51:29] Speaker 1: I thought it might look. Just given if you look
[51:31] Speaker 1: at a ranking sheet and you're like, oh, yeah, Kenny
[51:32] Speaker 1: Gainwell is a decent enough like Dart to have as
[51:35] Speaker 1: like a floor kind of player in PPR formats. But
[51:38] Speaker 1: then if other people are also going about it that
[51:43] Speaker 1: way and sniping you, then you might walk away with
[51:46] Speaker 1: a less favorable running back room.
[51:48] Speaker 2: That would be my fear with it this year.
[51:50] Speaker 3: I would just blame you for ruining them like you
[51:52] Speaker 3: did with Luthor Burden. Notice, in like that entire list,
[51:55] Speaker 3: the scroll of players I gave you, I didn't even
[51:57] Speaker 3: mention Luther Burton because anyone who's listened to your show,
[52:00] Speaker 3: here's Burden every single week. There's no need for me
[52:02] Speaker 3: to also jime in and just say I like this player.
[52:06] Speaker 3: I'll tell you what.
[52:06] Speaker 2: I'll tell you what.
[52:07] Speaker 1: It's got to the point where last year and on
[52:09] Speaker 1: the Late Round discord, we had someone made an AI
[52:12] Speaker 1: image of like my cartoon face and Luther Burden as
[52:15] Speaker 1: a cartoon and he's like holding me, you know, and
[52:18] Speaker 1: like we're like celebrating, Like we've had the meme with
[52:21] Speaker 1: base Shall Tuton of hashtag all roads because all roads
[52:24] Speaker 1: lead to bay Shall Tuton as more of like a
[52:27] Speaker 1: kind of a joke thing, but I've believed in bay
[52:28] Speaker 1: Shall Tuton as a prospect for sure, like one hundred percent,
[52:31] Speaker 1: and so all I need this year.
[52:33] Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not the kind of analyst.
[52:35] Speaker 1: I'm the opposite of this that likes to hang my
[52:37] Speaker 1: hat on just like a couple of picks. But I
[52:39] Speaker 1: will say, if those two have a good season, I
[52:42] Speaker 1: will be doing some some victory laps around the house,
[52:45] Speaker 1: you know, whenever when when the season ends.
[52:48] Speaker 3: I am shocked that no one has remade the messy
[52:51] Speaker 3: yamal baby photo with you and Luther Burden. That is
[52:55] Speaker 3: that has to happen in the next forty eight hours.
[52:58] Speaker 1: It's true, there was there's been no better coach speak
[53:01] Speaker 1: this offseason that when Ben Johnson said that he was
[53:03] Speaker 1: buying Luther burdenstock.
[53:06] Speaker 2: Nothing better for one of them.
[53:07] Speaker 3: That's all I need, one of us, That's.
[53:09] Speaker 2: All I needed.
[53:11] Speaker 1: Let's really quickly go through some ambiguous backfields, because we're
[53:15] Speaker 1: now talking about some of those middle rounds. So I'm
[53:17] Speaker 1: curious where you stand on some of these players. Let's
[53:20] Speaker 1: start with Pittsburgh. Your your your team, Jalen Warren over
[53:23] Speaker 1: ric o'dowdle.
[53:24] Speaker 3: And it's based on what we've seen from both the
[53:26] Speaker 3: Steelers offense and Jalen Warren. Aaron Rodgers because he led
[53:31] Speaker 3: the league in time from snap the throw, because you know,
[53:35] Speaker 3: in his age forty two career, he does not want
[53:37] Speaker 3: to get hit at all anymore. I believe remember it
[53:40] Speaker 3: was Robert Jones whenever Aaron Rodgers went vintage last year
[53:43] Speaker 3: for one or two throws. He threw that massive, beautiful
[53:46] Speaker 3: touchdown a dk Metcalf on Prime Time, and Robert Jones
[53:49] Speaker 3: ran over and chest bump him and knocked him down,
[53:52] Speaker 3: and Rogers get off. Rogers got a pissed because again
[53:55] Speaker 3: he does not want to touch the ground at forty
[53:57] Speaker 3: two years old. But because of that, But the whole
[54:00] Speaker 3: point for fantasy is that he's led a offense that
[54:05] Speaker 3: targeted their running backs the seventh and second highest rates
[54:08] Speaker 3: the last couple of years he's played, going back to
[54:10] Speaker 3: the Jets. Jalen Warren's target share also literally doubled to
[54:14] Speaker 3: sixteen percent during the two hundred and ninety nine plays
[54:17] Speaker 3: with Kenneth Gainwell off the field last season, Gainwell who
[54:21] Speaker 3: is now with the Buccaneers. So I like Jalen Warren
[54:24] Speaker 3: to soak up that receiving role given that Rico Dado
[54:27] Speaker 3: hasn't earned a double digit target share in any season,
[54:29] Speaker 3: including if you want to isolate his workload after he
[54:32] Speaker 3: became Walter Payton and Chewba Hubbard returned to the lineup
[54:36] Speaker 3: last year.
[54:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Jalen Warren might be top three, if
[54:40] Speaker 1: not the one, most underrated real running backs in football.
[54:45] Speaker 1: All of his metrics are just like unbelievable, and he's
[54:49] Speaker 1: so consistent as a receiver.
[54:50] Speaker 2: So I'm with you.
[54:51] Speaker 1: I know that there's the McCarthy Dowdell connection. I don't
[54:54] Speaker 1: even think Dawdlell is necessarily a horrific pick, but it's
[54:58] Speaker 1: more so le I just lean Warren's.
[54:59] Speaker 2: I think he's a really good talent.
[55:01] Speaker 3: All right. I did all the team previews that established
[55:03] Speaker 3: a run or most of them, and that that was
[55:05] Speaker 3: my opinion too. I wrote that Dowdle's range of outcomes
[55:08] Speaker 3: includes leading the team in touches as an RB three
[55:11] Speaker 3: or weekly flex definitely, But more importantly, I want to
[55:14] Speaker 3: chase the arc type because again we're chasing upside in
[55:16] Speaker 3: that range, and I think Jalen Warren's ceiling is significantly high.
[55:19] Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Carolina.
[55:21] Speaker 1: Do you think that we're going to see a situation
[55:23] Speaker 1: in like mid August where Jonathan Brooks, maybe maybe not
[55:27] Speaker 1: on season low platforms, but like where Jonathan Brooks goes
[55:29] Speaker 1: ahead of Chuba Hubbard.
[55:31] Speaker 3: Yes, FFPC, especially the two thousand dollars Las Vegas drafts
[55:37] Speaker 3: are known to have some some big risers, and Jonathan
[55:40] Speaker 3: Brooks is definitely projected to be the biggest riser in
[55:42] Speaker 3: ADP by the time Week one kicks off. Chuba Hubbard
[55:46] Speaker 3: handled sixty one percent of the team's backfield touches through
[55:48] Speaker 3: week four, that's when he got injured with that calf strain,
[55:51] Speaker 3: and then came back to only thirty seven percent from
[55:54] Speaker 3: week seven on. More importantly, we already talked about Cheweb
[55:57] Speaker 3: Hubbard's being drafted around elite players who can literally lead
[56:01] Speaker 3: their position in scoring. I do not believe that's in
[56:03] Speaker 3: Chewba Hubbard's range of outcomes. Johnson Brooks is also going
[56:07] Speaker 3: three rounds later based on ESPN and Yahoo ADP. So
[56:10] Speaker 3: that's a much more inconsequential pick that I'm willing to
[56:13] Speaker 3: swing for the fences with rather than Chewba Hobbard. So
[56:16] Speaker 3: you know, when you tell me Jalen Hurts Justin Herbert
[56:19] Speaker 3: Parker Washington. The list goes on. I'm going to say
[56:21] Speaker 3: Jonathan Brooks three rounds later every time.
[56:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed. I'm really curious about how you feel about
[56:27] Speaker 2: Denver's backfield.
[56:28] Speaker 3: I have been calling RJ. Harvey the cam Ward of
[56:32] Speaker 3: running backs, because, as you know, when riding about them,
[56:35] Speaker 3: it's never good when you get to scroll to the
[56:36] Speaker 3: very last page. You got to hit that sideways toggle
[56:39] Speaker 3: four times to get to their stats. It was quite
[56:41] Speaker 3: literally one of the least efficient and inexplosive running backs
[56:45] Speaker 3: the entire league. Last year. Having said that, I did win,
[56:48] Speaker 3: you know, multiple championships, because if there's any skeleton key
[56:51] Speaker 3: in fans football, it's about touches. And so I dragged
[56:54] Speaker 3: the corpses of RJ. Harvey, Woody Martz, Devin Neil, and
[56:57] Speaker 3: Audrey Guest to may is my RB two with Christian McCaffrey.
[57:00] Speaker 3: Too many home league championships. But I say that because
[57:03] Speaker 3: they do now go up for Jonah Coleman, who does
[57:07] Speaker 3: fit the profile better. If you're into early breakouts. Coleman
[57:10] Speaker 3: to average six point eight yards per Carrey at twenty
[57:12] Speaker 3: years old at Arizona. If you're into receiving backs. He
[57:15] Speaker 3: has eighty catches over the last three years in college
[57:17] Speaker 3: and average one point seven yards per route run in
[57:20] Speaker 3: his final season, which was second in this class last
[57:23] Speaker 3: year behind only Jeremiah Love. And so given that they
[57:27] Speaker 3: went up for him, I do believe not a short burn,
[57:31] Speaker 3: like we're going to have to wait this one out,
[57:32] Speaker 3: most likely as an unusable player in Jonah Coleman on
[57:35] Speaker 3: the back of your bench. But I do believe that's
[57:37] Speaker 3: a swing I want to take at adp because he's
[57:39] Speaker 3: going from like the tenth, twelfth round in home leagues.
[57:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh my gosh, I have so much Jonah Coleman
[57:44] Speaker 1: and best Ball it's ridiculous.
[57:45] Speaker 2: Are you Are you out on JK. Dobbins?
[57:48] Speaker 3: No? No, and best Ball?
[57:49] Speaker 2: I have JK.
[57:49] Speaker 3: Dobbins and season long. That's just not the profile I chase.
[57:52] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[57:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, So that's the thing that I feel like too.
[57:55] Speaker 1: So I have to be honest with you. I want
[57:57] Speaker 1: to hear your take. I want your honest I mean,
[57:58] Speaker 1: we're pals. I want you to destroy this because it's
[58:02] Speaker 1: it's it's it's become a problem. Over the last couple
[58:04] Speaker 1: of weeks, I've kind of been RJ Harvey pilled. Okay,
[58:09] Speaker 1: let me let me, let me explain, let me explain. Okay,
[58:11] Speaker 1: this is not I entered this offseason not liking r J.
[58:15] Speaker 1: Harvey at all, calling him a cell. Did not understand
[58:18] Speaker 1: why people were boosting him up as much as they
[58:20] Speaker 1: were in Dynasty rankings. He had a very as you said,
[58:22] Speaker 1: he had like rushing hours over expected per rush, like
[58:25] Speaker 1: just a lot of the explosive run stuff wasn't totally there.
[58:29] Speaker 3: You know.
[58:29] Speaker 1: Obviously it depends on what kind of thresholds you're using
[58:31] Speaker 1: and stuff. But he did not have a good season
[58:34] Speaker 1: on the ground. However, However, if there's one process you
[58:40] Speaker 1: know that that has that has yielded really good results
[58:44] Speaker 1: historically from an ADP trends standpoint, it is drafting second
[58:49] Speaker 1: year running backs and ambiguous backfield to catch passes.
[58:53] Speaker 3: And r J.
[58:54] Speaker 2: Harvey is all of that, like one hundred percent is
[58:57] Speaker 2: all of that.
[58:58] Speaker 1: And so I've given where he falls and drafts often
[59:03] Speaker 1: now there's not nearly as much of an opportunity cast.
[59:06] Speaker 1: This is why I was like talking about earlier. How
[59:08] Speaker 1: Like when people say, like, oh, I'm not drafting RJ.
[59:11] Speaker 1: Harvey in round five, Yeah, I'm not either he's not
[59:13] Speaker 1: going in round five anymore, you know, And.
[59:14] Speaker 2: I have a feeling because I like Jonah Coleman.
[59:17] Speaker 1: He's actually Jonah Coleman's actually my highest rostered basketball player
[59:20] Speaker 1: right now. And that's kind of a kind of contrarian
[59:24] Speaker 1: because every time I bring that up, someone in chat
[59:27] Speaker 1: makes me feel like an idiot. But you know, main
[59:29] Speaker 1: reason is because I think he will get some work
[59:31] Speaker 1: like there, and then there's multiple outs for contingent upside
[59:34] Speaker 1: right for both Dobbins and RJ.
[59:35] Speaker 2: Harvey for him to get more work.
[59:37] Speaker 1: And then with Dobbins, my stance has kind of been
[59:39] Speaker 1: like why am I drafting and their ADPs have been
[59:43] Speaker 1: different in Best Ball, but in Season long and on
[59:45] Speaker 1: ESPN and such, there's like a fifty pick gap between JK.
[59:48] Speaker 1: Dobbins and Jordan Mason, you know. And if it's like,
[59:51] Speaker 1: if you're gonna get in season long a JK Dobbins type,
[59:54] Speaker 1: just draft Jordan Mason or even Chris Rodriguez or something
[59:57] Speaker 1: if you want to take a chance on that backfield.
[59:59] Speaker 1: But like Jordan Mason, to me is the clear arbitrage
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: off of JK. Dobbins on a platform like that where
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: they're more than likely not going to play a receiving role.
[1:00:07] Speaker 1: They're they're going to see some rushing work, and Mason
[1:00:10] Speaker 1: actually was kind of explosive last year. He actually didn't
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: look terrible from that perspective.
[1:00:14] Speaker 2: Now with r J.
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: Harvey, though, I just see it as I don't want
[1:00:19] Speaker 1: to be so blind to what happened his role. Like,
[1:00:24] Speaker 1: first off, I wasn't even that high on him as
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: a prospect. You guys can go read the prospect guy
[1:00:27] Speaker 1: like that model had him as a high risk prospect,
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: you know, just given where he was drafted. But I
[1:00:33] Speaker 1: don't want to overstate the rushing stuff because it's not
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: the stickiest in the world necessarily year over year, And
[1:00:42] Speaker 1: like the receiving work is still going to be there
[1:00:44] Speaker 1: for him, probably to some degree to start the season.
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, what.
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: If he's just a year two player that just looks
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: a little bit better. That's kind of where I'm coming from.
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: And you're getting a discount because of all this stuff
[1:00:54] Speaker 1: you talked about, and I agree with it.
[1:00:56] Speaker 2: I don't even disagree with you.
[1:00:57] Speaker 1: Because like you can take this kind of art, like
[1:00:59] Speaker 1: this is where where you can hear the pro and
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: con and you can literally go either direction with with
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: a player like this. But for me, I'm looking at
[1:01:06] Speaker 1: like what's going on around there, and typically my builds
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: are gonna be of that. Like if he's an RB
[1:01:12] Speaker 1: three for me, I don't I don't have to rely
[1:01:15] Speaker 1: on him, and I've I've gone wide receiver heavy already.
[1:01:18] Speaker 2: I don't necessarily need.
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: Like Jayden Reid right here or something like that, you know, yes,
[1:01:23] Speaker 1: and so like that's kind of where I'm coming from
[1:01:25] Speaker 1: with Harvey. Do you think it's a moronic take? Because
[1:01:28] Speaker 1: you will, you'll you'll keep me honest here.
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: No, If anything, you may have persuaded me more onto
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: RG Harvey. But but also again as you're talking about
[1:01:38] Speaker 3: that him, his ADP with Jackie Dobbins has gotten a
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: lot closer. Thus exciting on the second round player makes
[1:01:45] Speaker 3: a lot more sense, whereas it was. Actually while you're talking,
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: I was looking to double check here. Right now, I'm
[1:01:49] Speaker 3: at twenty two percent Jackie Dobbins in best ball versus
[1:01:53] Speaker 3: six percent RJ. Harvey. But that's been because the differential
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: was three two to three rounds, it was bigger. But
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: now that they're getting closer, Yeah, I could see myself
[1:02:01] Speaker 3: drafting Argie Harvey, just because he's one of those guys
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: who's like left over if you use tools, he's always
[1:02:06] Speaker 3: highlighting green as well. But yeah, to this point it's
[1:02:08] Speaker 3: been Dobbins. But again I'm still shocked about where because previously,
[1:02:13] Speaker 3: you know, we do chase the running backs we do
[1:02:16] Speaker 3: think have good enough profiles and ambiguous backfields, and so
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: I've been more shocked about Jonah Coleman and Nicholas Singleton.
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: Is ADP Singleton for the Titans really than you know,
[1:02:27] Speaker 3: being excited about drafting either Harvey or Dobbins. I just
[1:02:30] Speaker 3: do it.
[1:02:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, but both Coleman and Singleton for me,
[1:02:33] Speaker 1: and redraft and manage season long are our targets because
[1:02:37] Speaker 1: you can obviously don't.
[1:02:39] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah right, yeah, just throw that dart and see
[1:02:41] Speaker 2: what happens.
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: If you would consider him as part of the dead Zoner,
[1:02:44] Speaker 1: I don't think he quite is, but he might be
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: in more season long formats.
[1:02:47] Speaker 2: But like, I don't understand Tony Pollard. I can't bat.
[1:02:49] Speaker 2: I just can't get behind the Tony Pollard stuff.
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: And I know I know that's an anti ETR take
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: or some some folks at ETR seem to like Pollard
[1:02:57] Speaker 1: a lot, but like to me, that is like a quintessential.
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: If you were going around earlier, you could firmly call
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: him a dead a dead zone guy.
[1:03:04] Speaker 2: But like he to me is quintessential. Like just stay away.
[1:03:08] Speaker 1: Based on the receiving profile and his splits with Taj
[1:03:12] Speaker 1: Spears and the offense probably not being that strong, I'd
[1:03:15] Speaker 1: rather take a chance on a Nick Singleton and season long,
[1:03:19] Speaker 1: I'd rather take a chance, like I'm going to probably
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: have more Jonah Coleman in the Denver backfield that I
[1:03:24] Speaker 1: will RJ.
[1:03:25] Speaker 2: Harvey.
[1:03:25] Speaker 1: But that's been the that's been what's doing with me
[1:03:27] Speaker 1: with Harvey because I think in some like you're going
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: to find drafts where RJ. Harvey falls a lot because
[1:03:33] Speaker 1: people have a genuinely smart stance.
[1:03:37] Speaker 2: I was in that boat before too.
[1:03:39] Speaker 1: I just don't want to ignore cost, you know, and
[1:03:42] Speaker 1: like stick with the player take and not look at
[1:03:46] Speaker 1: the range of outcomes.
[1:03:46] Speaker 3: Is this does not fit the same mold because you mentioned,
[1:03:51] Speaker 3: you know, breakouts being your two running backs who earn targets.
[1:03:55] Speaker 3: That's also why while I'm in on Jacory Krossky merit
[1:03:59] Speaker 3: over Rashaun, I know he doesn't earn targets, but in
[1:04:03] Speaker 3: terms of ADP, you are getting a two to you know,
[1:04:06] Speaker 3: based on where you're going ESPN, Yahoo, you are getting
[1:04:09] Speaker 3: a two to three round discount based on last year.
[1:04:12] Speaker 3: And like he was still explosive, unlike RJ. Harvey, Like
[1:04:16] Speaker 3: his twelve percent rate of ten yard carries finished right
[1:04:19] Speaker 3: between Beijon and Derrick Henry, two guys we respect. Yes,
[1:04:23] Speaker 3: seven catches in college, nine catches in his rookie year
[1:04:26] Speaker 3: not great. Rashaud White comes over actually having that receiving profile,
[1:04:30] Speaker 3: but with an ambiguous backfield in the discount for a
[1:04:34] Speaker 3: year two running back, Yes, cost to me is most important,
[1:04:37] Speaker 3: So perhaps I should be more on RJ. Harvey As
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: he continues to ball.
[1:04:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, look, the the JCM thing.
[1:04:43] Speaker 1: You could argue that that's another arbitrage type player off
[1:04:46] Speaker 1: of a Dobbins. From a pass catching standpoint, probably not
[1:04:49] Speaker 1: a ton of upside. I think that we have more
[1:04:52] Speaker 1: of a floor with Dobbins because we just have seen
[1:04:54] Speaker 1: him be able to carry a workload and it's probably
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: a better environment.
[1:04:57] Speaker 2: But at the same.
[1:04:57] Speaker 1: Time, like I don't know, I just I don't get
[1:05:01] Speaker 1: moved by a guy who's going to see who saw
[1:05:03] Speaker 1: four percent target shair, which is what.
[1:05:05] Speaker 3: Complete I'm not trying to sell you to Hi'm just
[1:05:07] Speaker 3: letting you know I'll probably be into drafting him. I
[1:05:10] Speaker 3: am into drafting.
[1:05:11] Speaker 1: I think I think Bill is fine at his cost.
[1:05:14] Speaker 1: I've lean more towards the Rashad White.
[1:05:16] Speaker 2: Side a lot of people past catching. Yeah, all right,
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: what more I want to get to?
[1:05:20] Speaker 3: Uh?
[1:05:21] Speaker 2: In these backfields is New England? Are you? Are you
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: more in a cost at Trevion or Remandre?
[1:05:26] Speaker 3: So what happened last year was that Ramondo Stevenson missus
[1:05:30] Speaker 3: three games, Trevion Henderson finishes as the week's RB sixteen,
[1:05:34] Speaker 3: RB four and RB three, and that span they then
[1:05:37] Speaker 3: come back from their by and from week fifteen on,
[1:05:40] Speaker 3: including the Super Bowl run, Stevenson handled fifty five percent
[1:05:43] Speaker 3: of the team's backfield touches with a twelve percent target share,
[1:05:46] Speaker 3: And most importantly, because Henderson is is correctly but he's
[1:05:51] Speaker 3: mentioned as the more explosive back, Stevenson in that span
[1:05:54] Speaker 3: from week fifteen on had a higher rate of ten
[1:05:55] Speaker 3: yard harries than Henderson did. So I just think Stevenson
[1:05:58] Speaker 3: personally is a trusted running back under Mike Rabel, who's
[1:06:01] Speaker 3: also a better pass protector. And I'm also in the
[1:06:05] Speaker 3: minority of saying Trevion Henderson was a win in season
[1:06:07] Speaker 3: long football because you knew when to start him. He
[1:06:11] Speaker 3: wasn't bad from you know, after he won that job,
[1:06:13] Speaker 3: which again you knew to start him. Then he was
[1:06:16] Speaker 3: then also like averaging roughly top twenty four numbers. So
[1:06:20] Speaker 3: again he didn't lose your league you started him anyhow.
[1:06:23] Speaker 3: And also if you were to ever drop Travion Henderson,
[1:06:26] Speaker 3: which I know some people did, he would immediately pretty
[1:06:29] Speaker 3: much in every format be the best pickup you could
[1:06:31] Speaker 3: then make. And so I consider Henderson a season long
[1:06:34] Speaker 3: win last year. But they did prove at least in
[1:06:38] Speaker 3: Henderson's first year that they trust Stevenson more so. I
[1:06:40] Speaker 3: like Stevenson at cost a lot. I actually think I'm like, again,
[1:06:43] Speaker 3: this is a different conversation best ball to season long,
[1:06:46] Speaker 3: but in best ball I am roughly like thirty five
[1:06:48] Speaker 3: forty percent on Stevenson, and then season long I think
[1:06:51] Speaker 3: he's a guy at least based on ADP we're probably
[1:06:53] Speaker 3: gonna get later despite last year's results.
[1:06:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean like Stevenson's one of those like if
[1:06:58] Speaker 1: you do go hero RB or zero RB, He's got
[1:07:00] Speaker 1: a nice floor for you to just kind of get
[1:07:02] Speaker 1: by and then you know, ceiling outcomes can still hit
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: with injury or just with a bigger workload.
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: Than we expect.
[1:07:07] Speaker 1: I'm with you, I have Stevenson as a better value
[1:07:10] Speaker 1: right now. I think Henderson's fine where he goes. I
[1:07:12] Speaker 1: don't have you know again, if you're gonna get someone
[1:07:14] Speaker 1: in that range, you should be getting the explosive year
[1:07:17] Speaker 1: two guy. This is just going back to how I
[1:07:19] Speaker 1: feel about how the market's been behaving, is that we're
[1:07:22] Speaker 1: the market sharper like these two ADPs. I don't think
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: would be looking like this five years ago. I think
[1:07:27] Speaker 1: that people saw what happened in the playoffs and be like, oh,
[1:07:30] Speaker 1: I'm taking Rimandre Stevenson in round five and Trayvon in
[1:07:32] Speaker 1: round seven or something like that, and then that's where
[1:07:35] Speaker 1: we would be sitting here saying, oh, we're drafting Travion
[1:07:37] Speaker 1: this year, you know, because we want that upside. But
[1:07:39] Speaker 1: it's just not how the market has shown in what
[1:07:43] Speaker 1: the market's doing right now. Do you think that that
[1:07:45] Speaker 1: tight end is brock, Bauers or Bus this year or
[1:07:47] Speaker 1: are you are you in on some of the other
[1:07:50] Speaker 1: early round tight ends then if not, or regardless if
[1:07:53] Speaker 1: you are or not, throw me some some late round
[1:07:55] Speaker 1: darts that you're looking at.
[1:07:56] Speaker 3: So yes, for hours, I do think the way I'm
[1:08:00] Speaker 3: handling this season, and this is complete opposite of last season.
[1:08:03] Speaker 3: Last season because Trey McBride was going typically a full round. Later,
[1:08:10] Speaker 3: I even mentioned that that's the value I want understanding
[1:08:14] Speaker 3: that you know, in the last decade up until twenty
[1:08:17] Speaker 3: twenty five, tight end has only separated by more than
[1:08:20] Speaker 3: two points per game twice. In both times it was
[1:08:22] Speaker 3: Travis Kelcey, one of the greatest receiving tight ends of
[1:08:24] Speaker 3: all time. So Bowers truly had to separate in order
[1:08:27] Speaker 3: for that full round of value to make a difference
[1:08:31] Speaker 3: from McBride. So I went McBride everywhere last year, if not,
[1:08:34] Speaker 3: I waited on Tucker Craft, Jake Ferguson, and Dallas Goddard.
[1:08:39] Speaker 3: This season, though we're talking about that top tier of
[1:08:41] Speaker 3: tight ends, Bowers and McBride are a couple picks within
[1:08:46] Speaker 3: each other. They're just neck and neck in the second round.
[1:08:49] Speaker 3: And so to me, that screams to either draft Brock
[1:08:53] Speaker 3: Bowers or then wait at tight end. The way this loses,
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: by the way, is Colston Lovelin who's drafted two round
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: later than those guys. Like keeping it close with Bowers.
[1:09:03] Speaker 3: He doesn't have to beat him. If he keeps it close,
[1:09:04] Speaker 3: he's the best value on the board. And that's kind
[1:09:06] Speaker 3: of what I'm worried about. But again, when we're talking
[1:09:09] Speaker 3: about overall lineup building, I'm going to be in that
[1:09:11] Speaker 3: range of wide receivers instead, So I'm unfortunately just going
[1:09:15] Speaker 3: to miss out on leveland most likely, but really wanted
[1:09:18] Speaker 3: to remove from Bowers, you know, going full ether with
[1:09:20] Speaker 3: the most catches in any season by an NFL rookie,
[1:09:23] Speaker 3: and then last year we only got a one week sample,
[1:09:25] Speaker 3: but he was targeted on thirty five percent of his
[1:09:27] Speaker 3: routes in Week one before that PCL injury and bone
[1:09:29] Speaker 3: bruise really tanked his entire year. So I like Bowers
[1:09:33] Speaker 3: a lot. And then if you're moving on it kind
[1:09:35] Speaker 3: of goes in segments, honestly, because I'm curious to see
[1:09:38] Speaker 3: where Kyle Pitts falls and home leagues we've all been
[1:09:41] Speaker 3: burned by Kyle Pitts. Be four, So despite adp being seventh,
[1:09:44] Speaker 3: eighth round, I think there's a real good chance he
[1:09:46] Speaker 3: goes later and Kevis Stefanski's offense every year in Cleveland
[1:09:50] Speaker 3: finished top nine and tight end rate. I also know
[1:09:52] Speaker 3: there are some disastrous splits that Kyle Pitts basically only
[1:09:56] Speaker 3: broke out when drakelnd was injured. But since I drafted
[1:09:59] Speaker 3: a big pitch, I want to ignore all that from
[1:10:01] Speaker 3: last year, understanding different head coach, different quarterback, different play caller.
[1:10:05] Speaker 3: Don't care one to bet on Kyle Pitts. So let's
[1:10:07] Speaker 3: see where he goes. Dallas Goddard the past two seasons
[1:10:11] Speaker 3: without ag Brown in the field. If you look back
[1:10:13] Speaker 3: to last year, his rates without aj Brown second and
[1:10:17] Speaker 3: both target share and yards per route run among all
[1:10:19] Speaker 3: tight ends. I'm not saying he's going to finish as
[1:10:21] Speaker 3: a second tight end, but I'm saying that's a pretty
[1:10:23] Speaker 3: good value considering you can get him as a low
[1:10:25] Speaker 3: end tight end one, if not a tight end two
[1:10:27] Speaker 3: in your league. And then the last round, guys talking
[1:10:29] Speaker 3: about values, chick O Conquo just because well no Isaiah
[1:10:34] Speaker 3: Likely and chick Aconquo are the two guys. Let's see
[1:10:36] Speaker 3: where they fall. But really, all I look for in
[1:10:39] Speaker 3: a breakout tight end similar to chasing Tucker Craft last
[1:10:42] Speaker 3: year everywhere is I asked myself two questions, do you
[1:10:45] Speaker 3: break tackles and can you lead your team in targets?
[1:10:48] Speaker 3: Chick O Conco was tenth and miss tackles, force per reception,
[1:10:51] Speaker 3: never really had the opportunity, and a bad offense in Tennessee.
[1:10:54] Speaker 3: So I do like that outlook, considering they really don't
[1:10:57] Speaker 3: even have a strong wide receiver right now, and with
[1:11:00] Speaker 3: the Commanders and a good quarterback in Jane Daniels for
[1:11:02] Speaker 3: Oconquo and then for Isaiah Likely we're just talking about.
[1:11:06] Speaker 3: I think it was twenty four million, twenty six million
[1:11:08] Speaker 3: guaranteed going over with a quarterback that's very familiar with him,
[1:11:11] Speaker 3: one of the best athletes as a position, who also
[1:11:14] Speaker 3: without Malik Neighbors to talk about not having a wide
[1:11:16] Speaker 3: receiver two may not have a wide receiver one. So
[1:11:19] Speaker 3: I like those two guys a lot.
[1:11:20] Speaker 2: All Right, I'm gonna get you out of here with
[1:11:22] Speaker 2: a couple just two more questions.
[1:11:24] Speaker 3: Yeah on them really long, but you know whatever.
[1:11:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah whatever, I'm gonna you have children. I just
[1:11:30] Speaker 2: I'm gonna keep you for another three hours.
[1:11:32] Speaker 3: Uh.
[1:11:33] Speaker 2: People have said that.
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: I'm the Joe Rogan of that I want to be
[1:11:35] Speaker 1: the Joe Rogan of Fantasy football.
[1:11:37] Speaker 3: You don't you record once some of the shorter shows.
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: That's why someone someone, someone critiques me. Someone said that
[1:11:43] Speaker 1: I wanted to do that with late round perspectives. Is
[1:11:45] Speaker 1: that that's why I did Late Round perspective.
[1:11:47] Speaker 3: I don't get me wrong. He knows this. Like I
[1:11:48] Speaker 3: love Jacob Sanderson's work, but I also know if I
[1:11:51] Speaker 3: turn on his podcast, I'm in for a four hour novel,
[1:11:54] Speaker 3: and sometimes I just don't have time.
[1:11:55] Speaker 1: Well, shout out, shout out him and Gretch started a
[1:11:57] Speaker 1: new show, and uh so everyone should check that out.
[1:12:00] Speaker 1: But it's those are two of the long winded analysts
[1:12:03] Speaker 1: in the game. Like, yeah, yeah, it's gonna be a
[1:12:06] Speaker 1: three hour show. But that's why it's great. That's why
[1:12:09] Speaker 1: you know they're they're I mean, they're super sharp. Check
[1:12:11] Speaker 1: that out for the record. They have a new show.
[1:12:13] Speaker 1: Give me your three favorite values this season. Three guys
[1:12:15] Speaker 1: that that you're going to be drafting.
[1:12:16] Speaker 2: A lot of.
[1:12:17] Speaker 3: I hate this question because I know everyone's looking for
[1:12:21] Speaker 3: quote unquote sleepers. Okay, I think values not fun I know,
[1:12:27] Speaker 3: but second round, Saquon Barkley is a value considering his
[1:12:31] Speaker 3: range of outcomes, as he already showed just two years
[1:12:34] Speaker 3: ago is outscoring Christian McCaffrey, and again in home leagues,
[1:12:38] Speaker 3: He's literally going in the second round with a new
[1:12:39] Speaker 3: OC that is absolutely insane. I'm not going to count
[1:12:42] Speaker 3: this as one of my three, but I think in
[1:12:44] Speaker 3: Mecha Buka again is also an extreme value given that
[1:12:48] Speaker 3: he also can be a top three wide receiver in fantasy.
[1:12:51] Speaker 3: He already proved that last year with an improved situation.
[1:12:55] Speaker 3: I'm also drafting we didn't We didn't really, we kind
[1:12:58] Speaker 3: of talked about it. I do. I think Jonathan Brooks,
[1:13:01] Speaker 3: unless again JJ Zacharsa steems them up, is gonna be
[1:13:04] Speaker 3: like a tenth round pick in home leagues. So I
[1:13:06] Speaker 3: think I think he's a really.
[1:13:08] Speaker 1: Good He's an easy click right now, I'm like eight
[1:13:11] Speaker 1: running back spots ahead of season lone Mark.
[1:13:13] Speaker 3: I think he's a great value. And just the way
[1:13:15] Speaker 3: I'm drafting, I keep looking at when I talk about
[1:13:19] Speaker 3: my values, who I'm going to have the most of,
[1:13:22] Speaker 3: and I think, just based on how I draft, Jonathan
[1:13:24] Speaker 3: Brooks is always going to be on my rosters. So
[1:13:27] Speaker 3: I'm just gonna call him a value. And then in
[1:13:29] Speaker 3: terms of quarterback, yeah, I think last round Malik Willison
[1:13:34] Speaker 3: Kyler Murray's going to feed families given their situations.
[1:13:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, agreed on all counts. All right, one more, now,
[1:13:41] Speaker 1: give me give me your twenty twenty six hot take.
[1:13:43] Speaker 1: That's going to just blow me away. My air conditioning
[1:13:45] Speaker 1: is now working, so it was not working for a while,
[1:13:49] Speaker 1: so I was sweating from some of the hot takes
[1:13:51] Speaker 1: that that Todd Burrows threw my way on becoming a
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: best ball brow. But I won't be doing that here.
[1:13:57] Speaker 1: But give me a hot take for this this upcoming season.
[1:14:00] Speaker 3: And I have so many, So let's let's just start
[1:14:03] Speaker 3: really quickly from cold, not really quickly, but cold to hot.
[1:14:06] Speaker 3: I love it. So I think it's easy. It's not easy.
[1:14:10] Speaker 3: I shouldn't phrase it like that. If Ashton genty were
[1:14:13] Speaker 3: to outscore Christian McCaffrey, we would not be shocked. I
[1:14:17] Speaker 3: would not be shocked. So, but that's not hot, right,
[1:14:20] Speaker 3: that that can happen.
[1:14:21] Speaker 2: That's like a four out of ten.
[1:14:23] Speaker 3: It's a first round player versus a first round player
[1:14:25] Speaker 3: who cares.
[1:14:25] Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, if you're are you assuming health for CMC
[1:14:29] Speaker 1: or is that all part of the equation.
[1:14:30] Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of inefficiency baked in as well,
[1:14:33] Speaker 3: But uh yeah, I think Ashton genty given what he showed.
[1:14:36] Speaker 3: I don't know why it took until they healthy scratched
[1:14:38] Speaker 3: where he moster for him to have the sixth highest
[1:14:40] Speaker 3: target shares position, but the numbers last year, his inefficiency
[1:14:44] Speaker 3: was not on him. It was the offensive line and
[1:14:47] Speaker 3: play calling, which is entirely, entirely different this year. So yes,
[1:14:51] Speaker 3: Ashton gent Saquon Barkley, I'm probably double tapping that if
[1:14:53] Speaker 3: I'm at the one ten through one twelve, Tyler Schuck,
[1:14:57] Speaker 3: Malik Willis, Kyler Murray outscore Matthew St. But again not hot, right,
[1:15:02] Speaker 3: that's whatever like they most likely will happen given their
[1:15:04] Speaker 3: rushing scores. So I think the hottest one I can
[1:15:07] Speaker 3: give you is that a Mecca Buka outscores Jackson Smith
[1:15:12] Speaker 3: and Jigba and as a first round player this year.
[1:15:16] Speaker 1: Okay, okay, that's how I'm surprised that you didn't. You
[1:15:19] Speaker 1: didn't go with him that as like you're you mentioned
[1:15:21] Speaker 1: him as like an honorable mention from a value perspective, Buka.
[1:15:25] Speaker 3: But again, when we talk about values, people want like
[1:15:27] Speaker 3: the late round picks, they don't care about it.
[1:15:29] Speaker 1: You're just you're just playing into the audience here because
[1:15:31] Speaker 1: you know this is an Abuka podcast after after last
[1:15:34] Speaker 1: year's fiasco.
[1:15:35] Speaker 2: And yeah, and.
[1:15:37] Speaker 3: Buka is like the one player Silva and I both
[1:15:40] Speaker 3: agree on as well, Like the ETR Slack tried to
[1:15:43] Speaker 3: bring his projection downs a bit and Silva and I
[1:15:45] Speaker 3: were having none of it unanimously, like you are not
[1:15:48] Speaker 3: bringing down at Buka's ranking at all.
[1:15:51] Speaker 1: Well, by the time this publishes on on Friday, the
[1:15:54] Speaker 1: Draft guy will be updated as well, and he is
[1:15:56] Speaker 1: a a new.
[1:15:57] Speaker 2: Player to target and it's interesting.
[1:15:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, part of it is because I did the market
[1:16:02] Speaker 1: score comp stuff for Tuesday's episode, and I looked at
[1:16:06] Speaker 1: projections based on comps for market Score, and Abuka came
[1:16:10] Speaker 1: out as a top five wide receiver in those projections.
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: It's basically just looking at players that have similar market
[1:16:16] Speaker 1: scores and ADP and career years, and it just loves
[1:16:19] Speaker 1: a Mecca Buca, and I love a Mecca Buka, and
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: I don't want to miss out on what not. Only
[1:16:24] Speaker 1: that I've been watching Quarterback on Netflix while Peloton recently,
[1:16:29] Speaker 1: and I like forgot how good Abuka was to start
[1:16:32] Speaker 1: last season and how fun that whole thing was. I
[1:16:35] Speaker 1: just It's just one of those things where like it's
[1:16:36] Speaker 1: all coming together for me, like the universe is telling
[1:16:39] Speaker 1: me that I need to draft more a Mecca book.
[1:16:41] Speaker 3: It also reminds all of us how much hate Baker
[1:16:45] Speaker 3: Mayfield has in his heart if you play against him,
[1:16:48] Speaker 3: Like no one lives on doubt like self inflicted doubt. More. Yes,
[1:16:53] Speaker 3: in Baker Mayfield, he's one of those players who doesn't
[1:16:56] Speaker 3: happen anymore. Aaron Rodgers was like this too, where like
[1:16:59] Speaker 3: you speak out, speak up, Baker is becoming like all
[1:17:03] Speaker 3: of a sudden, Dan Marino.
[1:17:04] Speaker 1: That show has been great this season. It's been the
[1:17:07] Speaker 1: best season from my perspective. I didn't even like like
[1:17:10] Speaker 1: some of the earlier seasons.
[1:17:11] Speaker 3: The problem was like in past years it's been Kirk Cousins,
[1:17:15] Speaker 3: who who is a you know, self accounted d weed,
[1:17:18] Speaker 3: Like he knows that yeah he's good at what he does,
[1:17:20] Speaker 3: but he's not interesting. And the same thing for the
[1:17:22] Speaker 3: greatest quarterback we've ever seen, Patrick Mahomes. Everyone that knows
[1:17:25] Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes's life behind the scenes knows he's boring as hell.
[1:17:28] Speaker 3: All he does is where sandals and cook brisket, Like
[1:17:31] Speaker 3: no one wants to see that at all. So now
[1:17:33] Speaker 3: we get b Baker Mayfield, who is not scared to
[1:17:36] Speaker 3: speak his mind every single week. That's the kind of
[1:17:38] Speaker 3: players that they should be putting on those shows.
[1:17:40] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and I think like the Flacco stuff, he's
[1:17:42] Speaker 1: a duf. But it's been really fun to watch, like in.
[1:17:45] Speaker 3: That stuffs been I know why you're interested in that
[1:17:47] Speaker 3: because y'all are long lost twins.
[1:17:49] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:17:49] Speaker 1: Look, he's another friend of the show. Got to meet
[1:17:52] Speaker 1: him back in February, so I'm invested in that. That
[1:17:56] Speaker 1: Buccaneers passing attack as a rebound. It's it's fun and Baker.
[1:18:01] Speaker 1: Watching Baker on that show is also awesome. He's he's
[1:18:04] Speaker 1: he's incredible.
[1:18:05] Speaker 2: I mean, just great television, Like just phenomenal television.
[1:18:08] Speaker 1: The way they I mean they went to the New
[1:18:09] Speaker 1: York City Marathon during his bye week and just got
[1:18:11] Speaker 1: hammered while his brother in law's.
[1:18:14] Speaker 2: One of us, you know, Yeah, he's just a normal dude.
[1:18:17] Speaker 1: Anyway, DANGI oh, this is great. Let everyone know where
[1:18:19] Speaker 1: they can find you, what you're working on.
[1:18:21] Speaker 2: All that good stuff.

[1:18:56] Speaker 2: We'll give you give that yeah, interesting, who knows who
