[1:08] Speaker 2: Now back to the show.
[1:12] Speaker 1: Last night, Okay, I fell asleep right after I looked
[1:16] Speaker 1: at my calendar, okay, and on my calendar it said
[1:20] Speaker 1: that we were recording the show, you know, and I
[1:23] Speaker 1: fell asleep and I had a dream about you last night.
[1:26] Speaker 1: You were in you were in my dream. I missed
[1:29] Speaker 1: the I was a half hour late to this recording
[1:33] Speaker 1: for the show, and then in turn, I overcompensated.
[1:38] Speaker 2: I got in my car.
[1:39] Speaker 1: It is very rainy day in my dream, and I
[1:41] Speaker 1: drove to your house and we and we podcasted.
[1:44] Speaker 2: We podcasted from my car.
[1:47] Speaker 3: I got bad news for you because I recently moved.
[1:50] Speaker 3: We actually used to live pretty close to the so
[1:53] Speaker 3: in your dream, you drove a long way because I
[1:55] Speaker 3: live nearer to the beach now, So you drove a
[1:58] Speaker 3: long way in your dream.
[1:59] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, right right, we like they it could have happened,
[2:02] Speaker 1: you know, before all of that went down. But yeah,
[2:04] Speaker 1: it was a really I mean, I'm glad that that
[2:06] Speaker 1: didn't come to fruition today.
[2:08] Speaker 2: I'm glad that I was on time.
[2:09] Speaker 1: I like made sure that I was on time because
[2:12] Speaker 1: you know, you don't want you or you.
[2:13] Speaker 3: Didn't want to drive in my house.
[2:14] Speaker 2: That's right, It's exactly right, exactly right. I also was.
[2:18] Speaker 1: Thinking about this because uh again, like I always try
[2:21] Speaker 1: to like think about my history with whatever guest is
[2:23] Speaker 1: coming on.
[2:23] Speaker 2: Sometimes it's guests that I don't know at all.
[2:25] Speaker 1: I mean, obviously you and I know each other, but
[2:28] Speaker 1: I think that we have we done a show together.
[2:30] Speaker 1: Have we had more lunches slash dinners together than podcasts?
[2:35] Speaker 3: There's like a non zero chance, like for some of
[2:37] Speaker 3: the Rotal World stuff we do, like the yearly Rotal
[2:40] Speaker 3: World drafts, where like, yeah, it's segmented off, so maybe
[2:44] Speaker 3: I don't think so, but it's possible we're on something
[2:46] Speaker 3: that together.
[2:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all I could think of those.
[2:48] Speaker 3: It's probably unlikely. So we have definitely had probably one
[2:51] Speaker 3: of the very very few people we've had more face time,
[2:54] Speaker 3: like in person RL experience with than online experience. Because
[3:00] Speaker 3: most of my like most of my minutes spent with
[3:04] Speaker 3: anyone in the industry is online. I'm not sure there's
[3:08] Speaker 3: a person that's the answer is not yes for that
[3:10] Speaker 3: except for you and like Matt Harmon, who we hung
[3:12] Speaker 3: out with that same weekend, and Cana.
[3:14] Speaker 1: That's right, that's right, Yeah, we we we sat you
[3:16] Speaker 1: myself in Rotopad. We got like it was like an
[3:18] Speaker 1: early dinner and we did it while watching the gold
[3:21] Speaker 1: medal game for the USA team, the basketball team, and
[3:25] Speaker 1: we sat there and we talked and I ate a
[3:28] Speaker 1: salad I remember, and we watched you know, it was
[3:31] Speaker 1: it was. It was a really really high tea situation,
[3:33] Speaker 1: eating salads and watching watching basketball.
[3:36] Speaker 3: You know, at some point we're in there talking about like, yeah, man,
[3:39] Speaker 3: I don't eat meat and I have a gluten allergy,
[3:41] Speaker 3: and oh man, these athletes are so cool.
[3:44] Speaker 1: Exactly exactly yeah, although to be fair, to be fair,
[3:50] Speaker 1: everything did get picked up a lot when Steph just
[3:52] Speaker 1: kept hitting three after three. I think that that part
[3:55] Speaker 1: was fun. That part was fun. Said from that, it
[3:57] Speaker 1: was not the highest tee early. Not only that, but
[3:59] Speaker 1: we were eating dinner. It was like four thirty. It
[4:01] Speaker 1: was like five o'clock, like not even five, So it
[4:03] Speaker 1: was even even more insane of a situation. But Kyle,
[4:07] Speaker 1: it's great to have you on and finally do this.
[4:10] Speaker 1: Let's talk quickly. I like to do this with guests
[4:12] Speaker 1: that hop on. Let's talk about your past and how
[4:14] Speaker 1: you got to where you're at now with roat a world,
[4:18] Speaker 1: because I know that you've you spent time in a
[4:20] Speaker 1: lot of different spots before you know, ending up at
[4:22] Speaker 1: rodal World.
[4:24] Speaker 3: I mean you should know it's better than anyone. I
[4:26] Speaker 3: worked at Number five, not for long, and Number five
[4:28] Speaker 3: was probably one of the places I worked, I don't
[4:31] Speaker 3: want to say the least, but just there were some
[4:33] Speaker 3: places where they were like, we need work, and I
[4:35] Speaker 3: was like, I will do anything. I was in college
[4:39] Speaker 3: in like twenty eighteen, if I had to guess, I
[4:42] Speaker 3: was like nineteen or twenty years old, and I didn't
[4:44] Speaker 3: have like a lot to do. I like stacked my
[4:48] Speaker 3: early freshman and sophomore schedule, so I was like going
[4:51] Speaker 3: to class all day every day, and then my junior
[4:53] Speaker 3: and senior year I had nothing to do. I was like,
[4:55] Speaker 3: that was a pretty poor allocation of my time here.
[4:58] Speaker 3: So I had nothing to do. So I just like
[5:01] Speaker 3: cold call. Pitched Matt Kelly previously on this show, maybe
[5:05] Speaker 3: multiple times, if I remember correctly, some fantasy article. I
[5:09] Speaker 3: don't remember what the first one I pitched was. He
[5:11] Speaker 3: was like, oh, that's good, we'll work with you, and
[5:13] Speaker 3: he published some of my stuff. Then I ended up
[5:15] Speaker 3: working at Rodoviz, at Number Fire, at a few DFS places,
[5:20] Speaker 3: rote a World Pro Football Focus. Sorry if I'm forgetting,
[5:23] Speaker 3: If you're out there listening. You're like, I was your
[5:25] Speaker 3: boss at this random fantasy website. How could you forget me?
[5:28] Speaker 3: Worked at a lot of places, my apologies, and just
[5:32] Speaker 3: eventually ended up doing enough at Rotal World that they're like,
[5:35] Speaker 3: you're destroying our freelance budget. Can you just work full
[5:37] Speaker 3: time for us?
[5:37] Speaker 1: And I was like, there were a lot of people
[5:39] Speaker 1: that came through Number fire, right, And I actually was like,
[5:42] Speaker 1: like I wanted to like triple check myself and be
[5:45] Speaker 1: like Kyle wrote for us for a little bit. And
[5:48] Speaker 1: I actually messaged Brandon Gdula yesterday and I was like,
[5:50] Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not crazy, right, Like I remember
[5:52] Speaker 1: he was writing for us and doing stuff.
[5:54] Speaker 2: Has nothing to do with like you. Obviously, it's just
[5:56] Speaker 2: that number.
[5:57] Speaker 1: I mean I at that point too, it was very
[5:59] Speaker 1: my I was more hands off, and it was more I.
[6:02] Speaker 3: Was about to say, when I was going to describe
[6:03] Speaker 3: what I did at Number five, I wanted to describe
[6:05] Speaker 3: you as my boss, but you really would have been
[6:06] Speaker 3: like my boss's boss, because it was like a team
[6:09] Speaker 3: of really talented writers, most of which Cadula oversaw. You
[6:12] Speaker 3: would have been like somewhere above that, so we maybe
[6:15] Speaker 3: were on the same emails at some point, but I
[6:16] Speaker 3: doubt you even sent me personally an email at any point.
[6:19] Speaker 3: And I ended up that was probably the final year.
[6:21] Speaker 3: Maybe I worked at Number five for two years where
[6:24] Speaker 3: I was working so much as a full like as
[6:26] Speaker 3: a freelancer that it was a full time job. And
[6:29] Speaker 3: it was the season of twenty twenty, and I was like,
[6:31] Speaker 3: you know, it's going to be a stable, normal season
[6:33] Speaker 3: twenty twenty, and so I quit my day job to
[6:36] Speaker 3: work just a ton of freelance stuff. And at some
[6:39] Speaker 3: point they started delaying games, like they kicked a few
[6:41] Speaker 3: games to Tuesday, and I think we even had a
[6:43] Speaker 3: Wednesday game, And I was like, oh boy, bad time
[6:45] Speaker 3: to buy the top on them playing football every week.
[6:48] Speaker 3: Luckily they played football every week and after that, after
[6:51] Speaker 3: the season, I think that's what would hired me.
[6:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[6:54] Speaker 1: So I was glad that my memory like didn't completely
[6:57] Speaker 1: creator there and I did remember properly and correctly, but
[7:01] Speaker 1: it was a lot different like when I have like
[7:03] Speaker 1: Scott Barrett or grand Barfield on like I was, you know,
[7:06] Speaker 1: just doing everything on the editorial front and Number Fire
[7:09] Speaker 1: when they were writing back in like twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen,
[7:12] Speaker 1: and stuff like that, and then eventually Cadula took over
[7:16] Speaker 1: that like day to day role and I kind of
[7:18] Speaker 1: just like pushed aside and did more of the content,
[7:20] Speaker 1: you know, more of the podcasting and stuff on my
[7:23] Speaker 1: own before I ended up leaving.
[7:25] Speaker 2: But Cadula's still over there, you know, running running ship,
[7:27] Speaker 2: crushing it him and him and jim'snas.
[7:29] Speaker 1: So you know, I'm glad that that you were part
[7:31] Speaker 1: of that though in some way, because obviously you're a
[7:34] Speaker 1: great analyst. So let's talk about this this fantasy football
[7:38] Speaker 1: season so far. I'm curious what you think so far
[7:43] Speaker 1: through three weeks, and I mean, the overreactions are out
[7:46] Speaker 1: of control? Has it seemed like the overreactions have been
[7:48] Speaker 1: like crazier this year than other years from people? For you, yeah,
[7:51] Speaker 1: a little biting it's on part.
[7:53] Speaker 3: Well, I don't know, man. We love to overreact. It
[7:55] Speaker 3: is our favorite thing. And it's it's weird because also
[7:57] Speaker 3: as a content creator, like the smart thing to do
[8:00] Speaker 3: to be like, yep, these are all just pieces of
[8:01] Speaker 3: the puzzle. Like I can tell you what happened in
[8:03] Speaker 3: week one, like a big one is like the Rotor
[8:05] Speaker 3: World Social team clipped us saying me specifically, but all
[8:08] Speaker 3: of us were in agreement, like this is very very
[8:10] Speaker 3: bad for ken Walker when fewer carries than his teammate,
[8:15] Speaker 3: and he immediately goes out and crushes the next week
[8:17] Speaker 3: on fewer carries than his teammate. And the comments section
[8:21] Speaker 3: was just insane. But like I could either sit there
[8:24] Speaker 3: and say, like I still think ken Walker probably out
[8:26] Speaker 3: carries Zach Charbonay over the course of the season, like
[8:28] Speaker 3: we should hang to our priors because like one or
[8:31] Speaker 3: two games of data are important, but they do not
[8:34] Speaker 3: entirely describe what's going forward. But as content creators, like
[8:38] Speaker 3: this is what we're here to do, is like dissect
[8:40] Speaker 3: in detail what has happened so far. Instead of being like, yeah,
[8:44] Speaker 3: priors are important. We can still mention that, right, but
[8:46] Speaker 3: we're here to talk about what happened, And so it's
[8:48] Speaker 3: very hard to strike the appropriate tone of like this,
[8:51] Speaker 3: I'm very interested in what has happened through the first
[8:54] Speaker 3: two weeks, the first three weeks, but I need it's
[8:57] Speaker 3: hard to convey that those things, those are tons of men,
[9:00] Speaker 3: massive data points, but they're also just pieces of the puzzle.
[9:03] Speaker 3: And they're not massive pieces of the puzzle. Our priors
[9:05] Speaker 3: are still very impactful. I don't think the like just
[9:08] Speaker 3: fantasy points per game starts beating ADP and predictiveness to
[9:12] Speaker 3: like I want to say, it's like week five or six.
[9:13] Speaker 3: I've seen people post a good chart of that. So
[9:16] Speaker 3: at this point I do still think like priors are
[9:18] Speaker 3: going to matter a lot, and so it's a weird
[9:21] Speaker 3: balance to strike as a content creator. For me, the
[9:23] Speaker 3: biggest surprise in terms of a more like slightly broad
[9:27] Speaker 3: structural thing has been the round two wide receivers as
[9:30] Speaker 3: being terrible, and especially because the profiles to me were
[9:34] Speaker 3: pretty bulletproof last year. Is in twenty twenty four when
[9:38] Speaker 3: we were taking Marvin Harrison Junior at the one two turn,
[9:41] Speaker 3: Like I understood it. That was a pretty fragile bet.
[9:43] Speaker 3: Like I made that bet, Like, look, I stepped on
[9:45] Speaker 3: that rake, don't worry. But I was like, I understand
[9:48] Speaker 3: that not all rookies come in and look like we
[9:50] Speaker 3: expect them to. We were not taking a rookie who
[9:52] Speaker 3: we had never seen play a snap in the second round.
[9:54] Speaker 3: The second round picks late in the summer. You got
[9:56] Speaker 3: Pooka in there, I wouldn't really count him most It's like,
[9:59] Speaker 3: come on, guys, like imagine letting poock A fall at
[10:01] Speaker 3: the second but so the the late for the second
[10:04] Speaker 3: round picks wide receivers for the mostly the entirety of
[10:07] Speaker 3: the summer. Brian Thomas Jr. Oh terrible A. J. Brown
[10:10] Speaker 3: finally gets a good game last week, but he is
[10:12] Speaker 3: not living up till just purely based on positional ADP.
[10:16] Speaker 3: Lad McConkie not living up to positional ADP, Drake London
[10:19] Speaker 3: not living up to positional ADP. And none of those
[10:22] Speaker 3: bets to me looked like bad bets. In like, they
[10:25] Speaker 3: don't look like bad bets even in hindsight. I'm like, yeah,
[10:27] Speaker 3: I feel like we appropriately appropriately priced all these players.
[10:30] Speaker 3: They're young, super productive, great peripherals, and it is just
[10:35] Speaker 3: not mattering. I think there are some excuses and some
[10:38] Speaker 3: things that could change for all of them, and it's
[10:40] Speaker 3: not entirely their faults. The one that we'll talk about later,
[10:43] Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Junior is like the closest to being his fault.
[10:46] Speaker 3: I mean, but Lad too. Ladd is just like not
[10:49] Speaker 3: earning a ton of targets on a team that Keenan
[10:51] Speaker 3: Allen's fully revived on that. Quentin Johnson is taking another step.
[10:54] Speaker 3: He deserves credit for improving massively from his horrific rookie
[10:58] Speaker 3: year to a good second year to it looks to
[11:00] Speaker 3: be a really good third year. Drake London dominating targets
[11:03] Speaker 3: to terrible quarterback play and like you mentioned Aj Brown,
[11:05] Speaker 3: like that team just does not want to throw the
[11:07] Speaker 3: football and they don't have to they're winning. Yeah.
[11:09] Speaker 1: No, I like that answer a lot, because that's that's
[11:11] Speaker 1: basically been Like I did a mailbag episode technically will
[11:14] Speaker 1: have been released once.
[11:15] Speaker 2: This is released, but I recorded it before we recorded this.
[11:18] Speaker 1: Show, and I got a lot of questions about you know,
[11:21] Speaker 1: Brian Thomas and about Drake London. And you know, if
[11:24] Speaker 1: you look at history. I mentioned this on that show,
[11:26] Speaker 1: and you look at just wider rookie wide receivers who
[11:29] Speaker 1: scored fourteen or more PPR points per game as rookies,
[11:31] Speaker 1: right since twenty eleven, there's been twelve of them or
[11:34] Speaker 1: twelve of them that had next season data enough next
[11:36] Speaker 1: season data, So like Kelvin Benjamin didn't play year two,
[11:39] Speaker 1: so he gets thrown out. And then we had three
[11:41] Speaker 1: guys last year, you know, Molik Neighbors, Lad McConkey, Brian
[11:44] Speaker 1: Thomas who got there nine of the twelve scored fifteen
[11:47] Speaker 1: PPR points per game in their sophomore, you know, their
[11:50] Speaker 1: second season, which is an absurd hit rate, right Like,
[11:53] Speaker 1: that is an insane in fantasy football to find a
[11:56] Speaker 1: seventy five percent of a certain cohort, even though it's
[11:59] Speaker 1: just you know, not the massive, massive sample, like you
[12:01] Speaker 1: would lean into that, you know, nine times at twelve,
[12:04] Speaker 1: right like, you would lean into that frequently, like all
[12:07] Speaker 1: the time, because.
[12:08] Speaker 3: They don't worry. I did. I did, Like, But to
[12:11] Speaker 3: your point, the pipeline of really good rookies too, really
[12:16] Speaker 3: good throughout the rest of their career, it's a pretty
[12:19] Speaker 3: straight shot. It is hard to veer off course. I mean,
[12:22] Speaker 3: you just outline the data and it is not hard
[12:24] Speaker 3: to see that if you look at it and other
[12:25] Speaker 3: metrics to target earning a yards perd outrun as rookies,
[12:28] Speaker 3: every metric that like that we can say is like
[12:30] Speaker 3: something predictive when rookies do it. It is really predictive
[12:33] Speaker 3: going forward. And for some of these players, I think
[12:35] Speaker 3: they'll course correct, right It's but I don't know, it's
[12:38] Speaker 3: it's shocking truly that they are all underperforming, and not
[12:42] Speaker 3: just slightly like some of the second round running backs
[12:44] Speaker 3: two are underperforming slightly, like Josh Jacobs is like the
[12:46] Speaker 3: RB nineteen right now, and Win is the RB ten
[12:49] Speaker 3: good volume, he'll probably end up getting there. But the
[12:51] Speaker 3: wide receivers are just not even close to what we
[12:54] Speaker 3: paid for. And to me, that is why it's the
[12:56] Speaker 3: most shocking, is they're not just a little bit off.
[12:58] Speaker 3: It hasn't been a mile just appointment. They are so
[13:01] Speaker 3: far from what we paid for, and they historically have
[13:04] Speaker 3: been such good bets. And I, like I said, I
[13:07] Speaker 3: think some of them will bounce back, but at this point,
[13:09] Speaker 3: like you got to, the bounce back has to start soon, Like.
[13:12] Speaker 1: At some point, you know, going back to like the overreacting,
[13:14] Speaker 1: Like you can't not react, as you noted, you know,
[13:17] Speaker 1: like you have to react to some degree, and like
[13:20] Speaker 1: when I kind of like, I I've noticed that I
[13:23] Speaker 1: try my best to stay as level headed as possible.
[13:26] Speaker 1: And I think that people like often you know, like
[13:29] Speaker 1: if you have subscribers or if you have people that
[13:31] Speaker 1: are listening to your show, oftentimes the average fantasy football
[13:35] Speaker 1: consumer and player and listener of podcasts and consumer of content,
[13:40] Speaker 1: they're probably going to go through a larger roller coaster
[13:43] Speaker 1: of emotion towards and about a player than you likely
[13:47] Speaker 1: would as an analyst, because you, as an analyst, have
[13:50] Speaker 1: seen this thing go on, you know, year in and
[13:52] Speaker 1: year out, you know, so you have this backbone of like, Okay, yeah,
[13:56] Speaker 1: I've experienced this before with a certain player, or I
[13:59] Speaker 1: know that things generally regress and all that kind of stuff,
[14:02] Speaker 1: and so to me, like it's it's my job to
[14:04] Speaker 1: at least stay level headed for people, like to be that.
[14:07] Speaker 2: Backbone for them.
[14:08] Speaker 1: But at the same time, it doesn't mean that I'm
[14:09] Speaker 1: not reacting to stuff, you know, like Chase Brown has
[14:12] Speaker 1: fallen in my you know, rest of the season rankings,
[14:14] Speaker 1: Brian Thomas Junior has fallen in my rest.
[14:16] Speaker 2: Of season rankings. But to your point, the crazy thing
[14:19] Speaker 2: with with Brian.
[14:20] Speaker 1: Thomas, let's just get to that right now, because I
[14:22] Speaker 1: did have a question about Brian Thomas Junior, you know,
[14:24] Speaker 1: on the show sheet on the show sheit, I said,
[14:26] Speaker 1: on the scale from one to quite panicked, how panicked
[14:29] Speaker 1: are you with Brian Thomas Junior. The wide receiver position
[14:32] Speaker 1: is just kind of a disaster right now in terms
[14:35] Speaker 1: of after you get outside the top, I don't know,
[14:38] Speaker 1: like five or six like, there's not many that we
[14:41] Speaker 1: are comfortably relying on right now. And so even even
[14:45] Speaker 1: with the way Brian Thomas Junior has performed, I'm still like,
[14:48] Speaker 1: is he like a low end one and high end two?
[14:50] Speaker 1: Still just from like a like where you know the
[14:54] Speaker 1: rest and how the rest of the position is performing.
[14:56] Speaker 1: But I want to hear you out because you said
[14:58] Speaker 1: that of the guys you were talking about, you think
[15:00] Speaker 1: that this is his fault more than the other guys,
[15:03] Speaker 1: you know, like Drake London having to play with Michael
[15:04] Speaker 1: Pennix and all that kind of stuff in the way
[15:06] Speaker 1: that they performed last week. So tell me how panicked
[15:09] Speaker 1: you are about Brian Thomas Junior. Like, do you think
[15:10] Speaker 1: that we're looking at a wide receiver three rest of
[15:13] Speaker 1: season or is it wide receiver two?
[15:15] Speaker 2: Or do you think that he can get back to
[15:17] Speaker 2: his wide receiver one status.
[15:18] Speaker 3: I mean, I definitely think he can get back. They're
[15:21] Speaker 3: like two competing things going on. He's earning the ball
[15:24] Speaker 3: a lot, and I think earning the ball is a
[15:25] Speaker 3: very good proxy for talent, especially at the wide receiver position,
[15:28] Speaker 3: but frankly anywhere, but at the wide receiver position, he's
[15:31] Speaker 3: still got a really strong target share, really strong air
[15:33] Speaker 3: yard share, strong expected fantasy points, and guys who get
[15:37] Speaker 3: thrown the football a lot. One they tend to score
[15:40] Speaker 3: because volume is a very predictive stat But two, I
[15:42] Speaker 3: just think it tells us a lot about their talent,
[15:44] Speaker 3: and so that's great for him. On the other hand,
[15:47] Speaker 3: like next Gen NFL's next Gen stats has him as
[15:50] Speaker 3: bottom three and yards after the catchover expected, bottom three
[15:53] Speaker 3: in catch right over expected, and bottom three sounds bad.
[15:56] Speaker 3: It is so much worse when you realize he is
[15:59] Speaker 3: the only one who who sits there at the bottom,
[16:01] Speaker 3: with Xavier Lagette like him and Xavier for Band as
[16:04] Speaker 3: the worst mine receivers in the NFL. And I think
[16:07] Speaker 3: so these two things are competing. But our prior on
[16:10] Speaker 3: his talent, like purely what you think of him as
[16:13] Speaker 3: a good player, because of what you said about rookies,
[16:16] Speaker 3: Rookies who are productive in any sort of way you
[16:19] Speaker 3: want to measure production being typically very often very good,
[16:22] Speaker 3: not only the next year, but just throughout the career.
[16:24] Speaker 3: Our prior should be relatively strong that the micro talent
[16:28] Speaker 3: X over expected YZ stats are going to be shaky
[16:32] Speaker 3: in a small sample, and we should hang to our
[16:34] Speaker 3: priors a lot on someone like Brian Thomas Junior. He
[16:37] Speaker 3: is both horrific in the metrics and really not looking
[16:40] Speaker 3: good when you watch him play, but the team does
[16:42] Speaker 3: not care. They're trying to get him the ball just
[16:44] Speaker 3: as much as they were last year. And we know
[16:46] Speaker 3: that is at least our most important stat when we
[16:48] Speaker 3: want to look at like how are you going to
[16:50] Speaker 3: perform in fantasy? Do you get the ball? Lot? That's
[16:52] Speaker 3: usually pretty good, and like you said, wide receiver is
[16:55] Speaker 3: pretty I mean part of the reason is guys like
[16:56] Speaker 3: Brian Thomas JUNI you're underforming. But it's so ugly right now,
[16:59] Speaker 3: that guy who has not done a lot and it's
[17:01] Speaker 3: getting the football a ton still has to rank as
[17:04] Speaker 3: like a top fifteen weekly wide receiver. I mean, if
[17:07] Speaker 3: he does this for the next month, of course we
[17:09] Speaker 3: can continue to say, like, guess he's just not who
[17:11] Speaker 3: we thought he was. But three games mostly isn't enough.
[17:14] Speaker 3: I my talent evaluation of him has come down. I
[17:17] Speaker 3: wouldn't would not have thought a player as good as
[17:20] Speaker 3: twenty twenty four BTJ would be capable of three games
[17:23] Speaker 3: as bad as the first three games of twenty twenty five.
[17:26] Speaker 3: But I don't think that means mean to throw out
[17:28] Speaker 3: the pre twenty twenty five talent evaluation. I still think
[17:31] Speaker 3: we should lean on it pretty hard. So I six
[17:34] Speaker 3: point five out of super worried or whatever the question was.
[17:36] Speaker 3: That's what I'm at, six six point five, six point five.
[17:39] Speaker 2: I like that, you know.
[17:40] Speaker 1: I also think that the Travis Hunter storyline is kind
[17:43] Speaker 1: of being downplayed when it comes to what that could
[17:45] Speaker 1: do for Brian Thomas and just having a floor of
[17:48] Speaker 1: volume and not feeling as concerned about Travis Hunter maybe
[17:52] Speaker 1: you know, overtaking a role.
[17:53] Speaker 2: Like a very very significant role, you know, in that offense.
[17:56] Speaker 1: And then obviously, you know, doanmy Brown is banged up
[17:59] Speaker 1: right now in any other world, Brian Thomas right now
[18:03] Speaker 1: is like everyone's favorite wide receiver from a fantasy perspective,
[18:06] Speaker 1: because I do think conceptually like the things that I'm
[18:09] Speaker 1: seeing out of the Jags offense, I like, you know,
[18:12] Speaker 1: like it's it's exciting, and they're they're scheming players open
[18:15] Speaker 1: the way that they should, and we're seeing some of
[18:17] Speaker 1: the concepts that we saw from Liam Cohen and Tampa
[18:20] Speaker 1: transfer over into into Jacksonville. They're just kind of not
[18:24] Speaker 1: on the same page. Yet you know, they're they're they're
[18:26] Speaker 1: doing stupid things. Wide receivers don't seem like they're in
[18:29] Speaker 1: the right place. Trevor Lawrence hasn't played well even in
[18:32] Speaker 1: a clean pocket, you know, and he's not being pressured
[18:34] Speaker 1: at a very high rate either, so he should be
[18:35] Speaker 1: playing better than he's playing. But I think that there's
[18:38] Speaker 1: just like a possibility here that a lot of things
[18:42] Speaker 1: are just all happening at once and it's like a
[18:43] Speaker 1: perfect storm for Brian Thomas to not produce and that
[18:47] Speaker 1: and that very soon we could see that turn around
[18:50] Speaker 1: a little bit. So I'm with you, like I think
[18:52] Speaker 1: six point five is a very good maybe six point
[18:54] Speaker 1: six would be my would be my number, you know,
[18:56] Speaker 1: and just just say that, Uh, we should be a
[18:58] Speaker 1: little bit panic for sure, But I don't want to
[19:00] Speaker 1: go too too far in one direction because look, we
[19:02] Speaker 1: keep mentioning like like rookie season peripherals and metrics and
[19:06] Speaker 1: production metrics and all that kind of stuff. If you
[19:08] Speaker 1: watch the dude too, no one disagreed with this, you know,
[19:11] Speaker 1: like people like every facet of the football world said
[19:14] Speaker 1: Brian Thomas is you know, maybe there were some concerns
[19:17] Speaker 1: about how complete he was as a receiver and there
[19:20] Speaker 1: was still some room to grow from like a route
[19:22] Speaker 1: running perspective, but he still was a very like, very.
[19:25] Speaker 2: Good player that no one would have really disagreed with.
[19:27] Speaker 1: So I don't want to lose you know, Hope, just
[19:29] Speaker 1: based on this this three game sample, same question to you.
[19:34] Speaker 1: You don't have to give me a number, but if
[19:36] Speaker 1: you want to give me a number, I think numbers
[19:37] Speaker 1: are fun. How worried are you about these Bengals skill
[19:40] Speaker 1: players after what we saw in the first week with
[19:42] Speaker 1: Jake Browning under center.
[19:43] Speaker 3: That's much closer to like an eight and Jake Ronnings
[19:46] Speaker 3: like I'm sorry, Like godspeed for Jake Browning, I believe
[19:49] Speaker 3: you got a contract extension. Like last offseason played, I
[19:52] Speaker 3: would say he played well with the Bengals in twenty
[19:55] Speaker 3: twenty three. I think he went four and three as
[19:57] Speaker 3: a starter, but weirdly it did not manifest in any
[20:00] Speaker 3: production for Jamar Chase or t Higgins. Both of them
[20:03] Speaker 3: were banged up at the end of that year. They
[20:04] Speaker 3: missed some time out, they were out of the playoff
[20:06] Speaker 3: hunt late in the season. Like I think Jamar Chase
[20:08] Speaker 3: just left we were eighteen early because he was just done,
[20:10] Speaker 3: so like when you look at his splits, they're gonna
[20:11] Speaker 3: be a little unfavorable to him. But the target share
[20:14] Speaker 3: for Jamar Chase in those games was around twenty two percent.
[20:18] Speaker 3: It was twenty five percent last week. Twenty five percent
[20:21] Speaker 3: is good, it's also not what you spent the number
[20:23] Speaker 3: one overall pick on, especially when it's twenty five percent
[20:26] Speaker 3: of Jake Browning's targets and T higgins target share in
[20:28] Speaker 3: the games Jake Browning previously was something like ten or
[20:31] Speaker 3: fifteen percent, and it's again it's around that ten percent
[20:33] Speaker 3: as well. To me, like Jake Browning is a good
[20:36] Speaker 3: enough backup and that he can execute the very bare
[20:39] Speaker 3: bones of an offense. But like, you didn't again, you
[20:42] Speaker 3: didn't draft Jamar Chase the one on one to be like, well,
[20:44] Speaker 3: this is gonna be the most bare bones offense in
[20:46] Speaker 3: the NFL and I'm gonna get about a quarter of
[20:47] Speaker 3: the targets. So given that we have to say, like
[20:50] Speaker 3: what is the expectation going forward versus the price we
[20:53] Speaker 3: paid to get these guys, Jamar Chase twenty five percent
[20:55] Speaker 3: target share is still good. I still think they'll find
[20:57] Speaker 3: ways to get him going. T Higgins the concern is
[20:59] Speaker 3: like a nine point five out of ten. I agree,
[21:02] Speaker 3: do not know if and I I think I do
[21:05] Speaker 3: know if Jake Browning is capable of feeding him these
[21:09] Speaker 3: difficult to complete but high value targets. I think I
[21:12] Speaker 3: know the answer, and I think the answer is no.
[21:14] Speaker 3: At least Chase can dominate at any level of the field,
[21:17] Speaker 3: on screens, on deep stuff, middle of the field. Whatever
[21:19] Speaker 3: Jake Browning is capable of, Jamar Chase will be doing
[21:22] Speaker 3: some of that. So Jamar Chase is like a seven
[21:26] Speaker 3: to seven point five out of ten concern, mostly because
[21:29] Speaker 3: I just don't think he's gonna pay off ADP with
[21:31] Speaker 3: Jake Browning as his quarterback. But I think he'll survive
[21:33] Speaker 3: as a wide receiver. One Tahigan's super insane massive concern.
[21:37] Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Tagans Raptors the same. Your year every two
[21:40] Speaker 3: years is Tagans year and this is cour of course
[21:41] Speaker 3: the other year. So doesn't look good. And I mean
[21:45] Speaker 3: Chase brown I don't think the situation can get worse
[21:49] Speaker 3: than it has been because ESPN has them as the
[21:52] Speaker 3: worst run blocking line in the NFL. PFF has them
[21:55] Speaker 3: as like a bottom five unit as well. Of course,
[21:57] Speaker 3: they have the backup quarterback in I think we've seen
[22:00] Speaker 3: maybe the worst three game stretch, But on the other hand,
[22:03] Speaker 3: like we've sort of lost the dead zone in that
[22:05] Speaker 3: I think Fantasy drafters have price dead zone style running backs,
[22:08] Speaker 3: if you want to call them that, pretty well over
[22:10] Speaker 3: the past two years, much better than we did in
[22:11] Speaker 3: twenty fifteen, sixteen seventeen. But he was the prototypical dead
[22:15] Speaker 3: zone where you're like, he's getting all the work. I
[22:16] Speaker 3: don't know if he's that good, but boy does he
[22:18] Speaker 3: get all the work. Because his peripherals last year in
[22:20] Speaker 3: terms of like PFF rush grade, yards after contact, breakaway
[22:23] Speaker 3: rate all had him around like twenty fifth in the NFL.
[22:26] Speaker 3: He was very Naj Harris in that capacity. And Nase
[22:30] Speaker 3: is a really good running back if he plays on
[22:32] Speaker 3: the best offense in the NFL and he gets all
[22:33] Speaker 3: the work. So of course never really saw that for him.
[22:35] Speaker 3: But if he told me Nase Harris say he was
[22:38] Speaker 3: the one who was the Chargers loan starting running back
[22:41] Speaker 3: right now, You're like, yeah, he's gonna score a lot
[22:42] Speaker 3: of Fantasy points. They give him the ball a lot.
[22:44] Speaker 3: And that's what we saw with Chase Brown last year
[22:46] Speaker 3: is they gave him the ball a ton and he
[22:48] Speaker 3: was solid on that. And when you get when you're
[22:49] Speaker 3: solid and you get the ball a lot, you're a
[22:51] Speaker 3: clear RB one. This is not a good offense, it's
[22:54] Speaker 3: not a good offensive line, and he's playing poorly enough
[22:56] Speaker 3: that I'm not sure he will continue to get all
[22:59] Speaker 3: of the work going forward. He is up there for that,
[23:02] Speaker 3: Like he's probably like an eight out of ten concern,
[23:05] Speaker 3: i'd say, But at least he's still he is getting
[23:07] Speaker 3: all of the work, which is good. That matters a lot.
[23:09] Speaker 3: It also matters that he's not playing well and the
[23:11] Speaker 3: team is doing nothing to help him at all, obviously.
[23:15] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:15] Speaker 1: No, I think the Chase Brown discourse has been really
[23:17] Speaker 1: interesting this week because you know, speaking of reaction at
[23:20] Speaker 1: being reactionary and panicking, I've seen, you know, I got
[23:24] Speaker 1: an email this week I'm not even kidding from someone
[23:26] Speaker 1: asking if they should drop Chase Brown for what he marks.
[23:29] Speaker 2: You know, like there's there's like that.
[23:31] Speaker 1: Kind of dialogue going on right now and discourse going on,
[23:34] Speaker 1: and like that's the part where I'm like, guys, you
[23:36] Speaker 1: need to relax a little bit, Like to me, if
[23:39] Speaker 1: you want to look at this as objectively as possible.
[23:43] Speaker 1: You could argue that they've faced the worst, one of
[23:46] Speaker 1: the worst possible opponents in Week three for their situation
[23:48] Speaker 1: and circumstance where the Vikings are coming off a loss.
[23:51] Speaker 1: They're playing in Minnesota, we know the Vikings front can
[23:54] Speaker 1: just be ferocious at times, and they're playing INSA's backup quarterback.
[23:58] Speaker 1: They make these mistakes early in the game, things just
[24:00] Speaker 1: start to kind of crumble and just sort of fall
[24:03] Speaker 1: apart once that starts to happen, and so like when
[24:06] Speaker 1: you think about it from that perspective, you're like, oh, yeah,
[24:08] Speaker 1: like this could just end up being, in hindsight, a
[24:11] Speaker 1: bad game, a blip.
[24:13] Speaker 3: Right.
[24:13] Speaker 2: The problem is that upcoming the next few weeks they
[24:16] Speaker 2: don't have the easiest schedule in the world for Brown.
[24:18] Speaker 1: But I do think would you say that he's just
[24:20] Speaker 1: given the sentiment and this is always hard because there's
[24:23] Speaker 1: no like this is the market, you know, but given
[24:26] Speaker 1: the sentiment, do you think he's a sell like a
[24:29] Speaker 1: cell Low or do you think that he's more of
[24:31] Speaker 1: like a hold right now?
[24:32] Speaker 3: I think he's probably more of a hold, mostly because
[24:34] Speaker 3: guys who are getting all of the work tend to
[24:36] Speaker 3: score fantasy points. He hasn't toored any fantasy points yet.
[24:39] Speaker 3: I if you gave me a bet of first three
[24:42] Speaker 3: weeks PPR points per game or week four onward PPR
[24:45] Speaker 3: points per game, which is higher, it's got to be
[24:48] Speaker 3: week four onward. Like, you can't get much worse than
[24:50] Speaker 3: what he's done through three games, So I would say
[24:53] Speaker 3: probably makes him a hold. At that point. The offense
[24:55] Speaker 3: is potentially has the you know, has the potential to
[24:58] Speaker 3: be so terrible that I'm not sure he's like a
[24:59] Speaker 3: screen by And like I said, he's not playing well
[25:02] Speaker 3: himself either, right, Like, he's not making the most of
[25:04] Speaker 3: a bad situation. It's possible that costs him work in
[25:07] Speaker 3: the long run. I don't know if it's likely that
[25:09] Speaker 3: it does, but it's at least possible, especially if the
[25:11] Speaker 3: team is like this is a lost season. I'm gonna
[25:13] Speaker 3: be honest, there's totally lost season when you lose grow like, hey,
[25:15] Speaker 3: there's some great nick Full stories out there. Most of
[25:18] Speaker 3: them are not great nick Full stories. Most of the
[25:19] Speaker 3: time you're starting to quarterback, the season just over. So
[25:22] Speaker 3: I think there's a not an impossible chance, like Toshbrooks
[25:25] Speaker 3: starts to pick up a little more work down the stretch,
[25:27] Speaker 3: but I wouldn't call himsel because I think this is
[25:28] Speaker 3: at least like the lowest meaningful value he will have
[25:32] Speaker 3: for the short to medium term.
[25:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exactly where I'm at.
[25:35] Speaker 1: I'd like, the expectation can't be his pre draft cost
[25:38] Speaker 1: whenever or his draft day costs whenever they lose Joe Burrow, Like,
[25:42] Speaker 1: that can't be the expectation. And if that is the
[25:44] Speaker 1: expectation from someone in your league, then sure, like it's
[25:46] Speaker 1: that that's not reasonable. But realistically, there are other running
[25:50] Speaker 1: backs in the league who are volume based running backs
[25:52] Speaker 1: behind bad offensive lines in not desirable situations, and no
[25:56] Speaker 1: one is like overly emotional about those players.
[25:58] Speaker 3: But people are used to Hubbard last I mean, I
[26:00] Speaker 3: know Bryce Young turned it on the second half, right,
[26:02] Speaker 3: and he's doing a little bit of that this year.
[26:04] Speaker 3: But over the past two years, even Chuba has just
[26:06] Speaker 3: played on a truly a dreadful team like de Panzer's
[26:08] Speaker 3: not been a good team their line maybe, I mean
[26:10] Speaker 3: almost certainly he's been in the Bengals are this year,
[26:12] Speaker 3: but the quarterback play at times was quite literally the
[26:14] Speaker 3: worst in the NFL. Al. Yeah, and Chuba's good, right,
[26:17] Speaker 3: But he's not a world beater, but he's still managed
[26:19] Speaker 3: to overcome the bad situation because he's a good player
[26:22] Speaker 3: who got all of the work. And I think that's
[26:24] Speaker 3: at least like on the table, if not a relatively
[26:27] Speaker 3: likely outcome for Chase Brown right now.
[26:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, same, And like I don't think that again, like
[26:31] Speaker 1: you nailed it where it's like, I don't think anyone
[26:33] Speaker 1: would say that Chase Brown is like a top ten
[26:35] Speaker 1: running back in the league. But if you're a top twenty,
[26:38] Speaker 1: top like maybe fifteen type player in the league and
[26:41] Speaker 1: you are in that offensive environment with Joe Burrow, yeah
[26:45] Speaker 1: it could be game over, like the ceiling is crazy.
[26:47] Speaker 1: But without Burrow, then all of a sudden, you're a
[26:50] Speaker 1: pretty you know, above average running back in a not
[26:53] Speaker 1: great situation. And like you said, we've seen this before,
[26:56] Speaker 1: players have been RB two's I still think he can
[26:58] Speaker 1: be that RB two wouldn't be like, you know, so
[27:01] Speaker 1: panic that you have to.
[27:02] Speaker 2: Sell well is basically where of that.
[27:04] Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about Jackson Dart who's taken over
[27:07] Speaker 1: the Giants quarterback job. Do you think that this like,
[27:10] Speaker 1: when you see stuff like this happen, are you changing
[27:14] Speaker 1: your expectations dramatically for the pass catchers or is it
[27:17] Speaker 1: more of a wait and see thing for you.
[27:19] Speaker 3: I mean in this case with quarterback injury, Like with
[27:21] Speaker 3: quarterback injuries you go from Joe burn or Jake Browning,
[27:23] Speaker 3: we should dramatically change things with Dart. It's a weird
[27:26] Speaker 3: situation because russ was playing fantasy friendly football and that
[27:30] Speaker 3: the Giants were just passing a lot, and he had
[27:32] Speaker 3: one of the highest aid outs in the league, like
[27:33] Speaker 3: all of us. Every play for the Giants was like,
[27:36] Speaker 3: this is like one point one expected PPR points from
[27:38] Speaker 3: Elie Neighbors because it gets all the targets and these
[27:40] Speaker 3: are just like the Lak Neighbors down there somewhere throws
[27:42] Speaker 3: and those are really good for fantasy, even if it's
[27:44] Speaker 3: ultimately a doomed, doomed prospect for the team actually trying
[27:48] Speaker 3: to win games. So from that perspective, at least, Russell
[27:51] Speaker 3: Wilson was trying to get his fantasy past catcher's points.
[27:54] Speaker 3: And as much as like I like Dart as a prospect,
[27:56] Speaker 3: a lot a lot of prospects fail, like you look
[27:59] Speaker 3: at more, was clearly a better prospect than in the
[28:01] Speaker 3: NFL evaluated cam Ward as miles better, and you look
[28:05] Speaker 3: at how much cam mord is struggling, and you say, like,
[28:07] Speaker 3: that's also pretty reasonable to expect cam Ward to struggle.
[28:10] Speaker 3: Most rookie quarterbacks will come in and struggle. It is
[28:13] Speaker 3: not normal for a rookie quarterback to come in and
[28:15] Speaker 3: elevate his pass catchers. So I feel like the like
[28:17] Speaker 3: to be reasonable. The most likely outcome is the passing
[28:20] Speaker 3: output is worse. Like if you look at the line
[28:23] Speaker 3: movement for a team going from even Russell Wilson to
[28:25] Speaker 3: their backup quarterback, Like bookmakers will still say the average
[28:28] Speaker 3: rookie quarterback is really a sink on your team. It's
[28:31] Speaker 3: just not fun in their first few starts, even their
[28:33] Speaker 3: first entire season. But that being said, I do think
[28:36] Speaker 3: one there is a like stylistic comparison of Dart was
[28:39] Speaker 3: a super aggressive and pretty good deep ball thrower and
[28:41] Speaker 3: intermediate thrower in college. Some of that is the system
[28:44] Speaker 3: he I mean a decent amount that is going to
[28:46] Speaker 3: be the system he played in. But he rocked it
[28:48] Speaker 3: in the system he played in, and it's the same
[28:50] Speaker 3: types of throws I was talking about Russell Wilson making.
[28:52] Speaker 3: He's just super high value. You're gonna gain a lot
[28:54] Speaker 3: of yards, and they're throwing them a lot type of stuff.
[28:56] Speaker 3: And I just saw I think it was Daniel Jeremiah
[28:58] Speaker 3: saying he expects them to come out and play with
[29:00] Speaker 3: a ton of pace Spreaderman Treadham's type of stuff. It's
[29:02] Speaker 3: exactly what they did in college, because that's kind of
[29:04] Speaker 3: the scheme he played in. So if Dart succeeds, I
[29:07] Speaker 3: think the ceiling is really high.
[29:09] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[29:09] Speaker 3: Probably should have to have like reasonable expectations of most
[29:12] Speaker 3: freaky quarterbacks are just not that good in their first
[29:14] Speaker 3: few starts.
[29:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
[29:16] Speaker 1: I totally agree, And not only that, like the Giants weapons,
[29:19] Speaker 1: I think at least compliment each other really well, Like
[29:21] Speaker 1: they have the right pieces around him. You know, It's
[29:24] Speaker 1: not like he's walking into a situation that would be
[29:27] Speaker 1: as poorly or as poor or as bad as what
[29:29] Speaker 1: cam Ward is dealing with. Right, And I think at
[29:33] Speaker 1: this point, you know, say what you want about Brian Dable,
[29:35] Speaker 1: but I trust him more than Callahan and Tennessee and
[29:38] Speaker 1: that coaching staff. So I am cautiously optimistic about Jackson Dart.
[29:44] Speaker 1: Like you said, we always have to bring it in
[29:47] Speaker 1: a little bit because rookie quarterbacks tend to be more
[29:49] Speaker 1: disappointing for fantasy purposes than exciting. But I said it before,
[29:54] Speaker 1: I think that Jackson Dart has sort of that like
[29:56] Speaker 1: Josh Allen's psycho mentality to him, and that's fun.
[30:00] Speaker 2: It's at the very least we're gonna see a.
[30:02] Speaker 1: Very fun offense with him, and like camp Scattaboo back
[30:04] Speaker 1: there now with the Tyrone Tracy injury. Obviously, Milieue Neighbors
[30:07] Speaker 1: is a stud so I'm very excited to see what
[30:11] Speaker 1: they can do there.
[30:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, Dark was a big runner in college too. He
[30:13] Speaker 3: ran for like you have to take away sackyards because
[30:15] Speaker 3: stupid NCAC count sackyards rushing, so he gotta find some
[30:18] Speaker 3: database to strip those out. But he ran for like
[30:20] Speaker 3: two thousand combined yards over his final three season college football.
[30:24] Speaker 3: I think, at least for him, he himself is a
[30:26] Speaker 3: really fun super flex asset to have right now. Again,
[30:29] Speaker 3: you have to kind of recalibrate your expectations for the
[30:31] Speaker 3: pass catchers, but he himself should be like I think
[30:33] Speaker 3: he might just walk right into QB two just based
[30:35] Speaker 3: on rushing and we Drake made it. Drake May was
[30:37] Speaker 3: like a spotty hit or miss thrower as a rookie,
[30:39] Speaker 3: but he was a runner as a rookie, and I
[30:41] Speaker 3: think we could get that from Dark in the same
[30:42] Speaker 3: way that like Josh Allen even early in his career,
[30:45] Speaker 3: was a really scattershot, poor passer, but the rushing always
[30:48] Speaker 3: kept him afloat.
[30:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent, all right, other rookies, these these
[30:51] Speaker 1: rookie running backs. We saw Mari and Hampton finally sort
[30:54] Speaker 1: of break out in week three. Now, obviously Naji Harris's
[30:58] Speaker 1: injury helped make that happen and helped that happened, but
[31:00] Speaker 1: I thought Hampton at least like started to look the
[31:02] Speaker 1: part in that game. Finally we saw him sort of
[31:05] Speaker 1: like live up to what we thought we were drafting,
[31:07] Speaker 1: you know when we got him, you know, in like
[31:09] Speaker 1: the middle of round three. Do you think that that
[31:11] Speaker 1: there will be better days ahead for the other guy?
[31:13] Speaker 1: So Trayvon Henderson, Ashon, gent R J. Harvey will go
[31:17] Speaker 1: with those three. We can go one by one with
[31:19] Speaker 1: each guy. And if you want to talk about Caleb Johnson,
[31:21] Speaker 1: feel free to talk about Kile Johnson.
[31:23] Speaker 3: Look, there can literally not be worse days ahead for
[31:26] Speaker 3: Kleb Johnson. Not possible. The worst game for a player
[31:31] Speaker 3: for especially like a young player, you will ever find
[31:35] Speaker 3: is you're like only or maybe your second only touch
[31:37] Speaker 3: of the day is a kick off your muck because
[31:39] Speaker 3: you don't know the rules. Yeah, but look, they could
[31:42] Speaker 3: cut like it's not impossible. But unless that happens, better
[31:46] Speaker 3: days are ahead for Caleb Folks. Good news there. How
[31:49] Speaker 3: much better? I don't you know, Probably not that much better,
[31:51] Speaker 3: but I mean getting zero touches will be better, and
[31:54] Speaker 3: he's doing that right now. So Chevon Henderson man, Look
[31:59] Speaker 3: I get it, fantasy and bio. Why are they doing
[32:02] Speaker 3: this to us? Like you gotta be kidding the lease
[32:04] Speaker 3: And to be fair to both Josh McDaniel and McDaniels
[32:09] Speaker 3: and the head coach, Romandre's played well. Take away the
[32:12] Speaker 3: horror FicT fumbles, which is a staple of his game.
[32:16] Speaker 3: Right he actually has popped in all the nerdy metrics
[32:19] Speaker 3: and he looks when you watch him like he had
[32:20] Speaker 3: that really nice catch that was supposedly designed for Trevion
[32:23] Speaker 3: Henderson two weeks ago and he ends up being the
[32:25] Speaker 3: one out there. I think it was because Trevion Henderson
[32:27] Speaker 3: was messing up consistently in pass Pro. But you look
[32:30] Speaker 3: at the two players the active leaders in fumbles per carry,
[32:34] Speaker 3: and they are both on this roster. They're Antonio Gibson
[32:37] Speaker 3: and Ormandre Stevenson, and they did that thing they do.
[32:39] Speaker 3: Stevenson fumbles twice, and of course the frustrating part, they
[32:42] Speaker 3: don't bring Trevion Henderson and to replace Stevenson they bring
[32:44] Speaker 3: Antonio Gibson and he does of course what I mean,
[32:47] Speaker 3: it's fantasy and bio guys like, yeah, totally, he fumbled.
[32:50] Speaker 3: Who could have seen this coming? I think after that
[32:53] Speaker 3: you have to give Trevion Henderson more work. Do I
[32:56] Speaker 3: think he will come out and just dominate all of
[32:58] Speaker 3: the touches. I'm a bit skeptical. He didn't even dominate
[33:01] Speaker 3: the touches in college, let alone something we'll maybe project
[33:04] Speaker 3: him to never do in the NFL. But I do
[33:06] Speaker 3: have to think that the role for him through the
[33:08] Speaker 3: first three weeks is maybe going to not resemble in
[33:11] Speaker 3: any capacity the role from week four onward. Do I
[33:14] Speaker 3: think he'll come out and just start to the way
[33:16] Speaker 3: Bucky Irving just completely shut out Rashad White from the lineup.
[33:21] Speaker 3: I don't think that will ever happen for Trevion Henderson
[33:23] Speaker 3: has a rookie but I think this is probably the
[33:25] Speaker 3: lowest value you have. I mean, really last week, heading
[33:28] Speaker 3: in the last week was the lowest value you're gonna
[33:30] Speaker 3: have on Trevion Henderson. I do think it'll get better from.
[33:32] Speaker 1: Here, Yeah, I mean I think that it's like if
[33:34] Speaker 1: you want to look at the positives too, like environmentally,
[33:37] Speaker 1: the Patriots have not had any sort of pass catcher
[33:39] Speaker 1: really emerge on that team. And that's obviously like Travion's
[33:42] Speaker 1: bread and butter, like where he can really thrive his
[33:44] Speaker 1: get him out in space and let him do things
[33:45] Speaker 1: as a pass catcher. You know, he brings that to
[33:48] Speaker 1: the table that you know, Ramandre had that nice play,
[33:50] Speaker 1: like you said, but that's probably the best receiving play
[33:53] Speaker 1: that Stevenson has had over the last year and a half,
[33:55] Speaker 1: you know, and so like.
[33:56] Speaker 2: Like that's what Trayveon can do.
[33:58] Speaker 1: And if you drafted Travion, you did so knowing that
[34:01] Speaker 1: the likely outcome is maybe a fifty percent running back
[34:04] Speaker 1: rush here. Maybe like that's the like we knew Ramandre
[34:07] Speaker 1: Stevenson would be involved. It's just that we know that
[34:10] Speaker 1: targets and pass catching and receiving is very very important
[34:13] Speaker 1: at running back in fantasy football, and if Travon Henderson
[34:17] Speaker 1: could steal that eleven twelve percent target share and get
[34:20] Speaker 1: up to that fifteen percent mark as like a very
[34:23] Speaker 1: staple part of that offense, then he would easily pay
[34:25] Speaker 1: off at his at his eight even as his increasing
[34:28] Speaker 1: ADP that we saw, so he was like a he
[34:31] Speaker 1: was like a floor play that had a ceiling, if
[34:34] Speaker 1: you know.
[34:34] Speaker 2: They just decided to use him more.
[34:36] Speaker 1: On the in the ground game than going with a
[34:38] Speaker 1: guy like Stevenson. But I agree, I think after what
[34:40] Speaker 1: we saw last week, we should see more Travion. Now
[34:43] Speaker 1: let's go to Ashton Genty, who you know. I mean,
[34:46] Speaker 1: the usage has been weird, and obviously the offensive line
[34:49] Speaker 1: play has been horrible, But where are you at with
[34:51] Speaker 1: Ashton Genty right now?
[34:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't have to call it weird. The usage
[34:54] Speaker 3: has been pathetic, Like obviously he's getting a lot of
[34:55] Speaker 3: the between the tackles work. But Ashton Genty was one
[34:59] Speaker 3: of like three players drafted in the first one hundred
[35:02] Speaker 3: picks to have a single season yards per out run
[35:04] Speaker 3: over three running backs that is in the past fifteen years.
[35:07] Speaker 3: Like he did not do a ton of pass catching
[35:08] Speaker 3: in his final year at Poise State, because like, why
[35:11] Speaker 3: the hell would you just hand him the football and
[35:13] Speaker 3: that's what they did. But the year before that, he
[35:15] Speaker 3: was like a five hundred yard receiver while still being
[35:18] Speaker 3: a really efficient between the tackles player. He is, or
[35:21] Speaker 3: I mean, at least in college. Maybe he just that
[35:23] Speaker 3: was all an aberration, like he was playing in the
[35:25] Speaker 3: Mountain West or whatever, and none of that is replicable.
[35:27] Speaker 3: But he is, at least in my mind, a really
[35:29] Speaker 3: talented pass catcher, and they just don't seem to think that,
[35:32] Speaker 3: or at least they are concerned enough with something like
[35:34] Speaker 3: pass protection that they are not willing to put him
[35:36] Speaker 3: out there for passing downs, for the two minute drill,
[35:38] Speaker 3: that kind of stuff, and the fact that they are
[35:41] Speaker 3: just taking that portion of the fantasy production pie off
[35:44] Speaker 3: of his plate entirely, and they're not replacing with like
[35:47] Speaker 3: scheme targets that much either. It's not like they're doing
[35:49] Speaker 3: you know, Alvin Kamara rookie year stuff, or maybe he
[35:51] Speaker 3: wasn't taken like the third down back, but John Payton
[35:53] Speaker 3: loved to scheme his running back targets. They're not even
[35:56] Speaker 3: doing that either, And the offensive environment looks really bad,
[35:59] Speaker 3: much like Chase Brown another team where between Pro Football
[36:02] Speaker 3: Focus and ESPN's offensive line stuff, they're one of the
[36:05] Speaker 3: two or three worst and basically every metric the AR
[36:07] Speaker 3: four contact, which is also in part a running back
[36:09] Speaker 3: stat But I do think it's a little bit helpful.
[36:12] Speaker 3: He's worse than the NFL. He gets hit hind the
[36:13] Speaker 3: line scramage like every single attempt he gets, and then
[36:15] Speaker 3: they're not letting us pad out the poor games with
[36:18] Speaker 3: PPR production. Another spot where adjusting for the cost you
[36:22] Speaker 3: paid to get him maybe the most concerning of the
[36:25] Speaker 3: rookie running backs, just because you needed him to come
[36:27] Speaker 3: out of the gates as a top fourteen back and
[36:30] Speaker 3: then progressed into a top five back or maybe just
[36:32] Speaker 3: stay as a top ten back in the entire year.
[36:34] Speaker 3: But you needed some really strong production early and elite
[36:37] Speaker 3: production late, and at best you're probably getting like really
[36:40] Speaker 3: good production late. But this role needs to change drastically
[36:43] Speaker 3: to get to elite production. So I still think he
[36:45] Speaker 3: can rebound, but like we're burning games quickly in which
[36:48] Speaker 3: is actively hurting you, I think it almost certainly he'll
[36:51] Speaker 3: go down. Is at least a smallness, and it's very possible.
[36:54] Speaker 3: There's stuff like this continues, it ends up beeing big bores. Yeah.
[36:57] Speaker 1: You know what's funny is that my rankings were lower
[36:59] Speaker 1: on gent than than consensus this year. And this is
[37:01] Speaker 1: gonna sound like a victory lap, but it is not,
[37:03] Speaker 1: because the reason I had him lower is because of
[37:05] Speaker 1: those wide receivers that we talked about earlier that we loved,
[37:09] Speaker 1: and they obviously aren't, you know, coming to fruition. But
[37:12] Speaker 1: the problem I think you nailed is that they're just
[37:15] Speaker 1: not using him as a pass catcher nearly enough. Last
[37:18] Speaker 1: week long down in distance snaps. This is, according to
[37:20] Speaker 1: Fantasy Life data, eighty nine percent snapshare on long down
[37:24] Speaker 1: and distance downs for Zamir White. Like, what are we
[37:29] Speaker 1: doing here? What is going on? You have a negative
[37:32] Speaker 1: game script and you're gonna be using Zamir White? Are
[37:34] Speaker 1: we kidding? A guy who has literally never been a
[37:38] Speaker 1: pass catcher at any level of reasonable football.
[37:41] Speaker 2: He was not one in college.
[37:43] Speaker 1: He obviously has not really been one in the NFL,
[37:46] Speaker 1: and we saw him perform last year. You know, not
[37:48] Speaker 1: to expectation too. You have to imagine that that Gens's
[37:52] Speaker 1: gonna see more and more work. But this could easily
[37:55] Speaker 1: be a situation where the coaching staff is like, yeah,
[37:58] Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna slow play this because we can,
[38:01] Speaker 1: and this is the way that we think we should
[38:02] Speaker 1: be doing things, even though Gent probably should be getting
[38:05] Speaker 1: the ball in more ways than he currently is. Another
[38:07] Speaker 1: player who is disappointed at running back rookie running.
[38:10] Speaker 2: Back is RJ. Harvey, So where are you at with him?
[38:13] Speaker 3: Yeah? Speaking speaking of frustrating usage, the gent one has
[38:16] Speaker 3: to be more frustrating, but like, this one's pretty frustrating too,
[38:19] Speaker 3: because I get it.
[38:20] Speaker 1: JK.
[38:20] Speaker 3: Dobbins was signed to do a specific thing, which is
[38:23] Speaker 3: handle like bolt carries between the tackles, stuff boxes like
[38:27] Speaker 3: short yardage stuff. And he's played really well. Like I
[38:29] Speaker 3: don't need to bore you with all the data in
[38:31] Speaker 3: terms of rush yards over expected, his success rate yards
[38:33] Speaker 3: after contact. He's played really well and he's earned the
[38:36] Speaker 3: role he has right now. I don't think you should
[38:39] Speaker 3: just as like it would even be too fantasy in
[38:41] Speaker 3: bio for me to be like we've seen too much JK. Dobbins.
[38:43] Speaker 3: He's playing really well. The frustrating, stupid part is the
[38:47] Speaker 3: Tyler baty slash bidet usage, which I will note finally
[38:50] Speaker 3: quieted down in Week three his role almost completely vanished
[38:53] Speaker 3: in week three, but that did not result in an
[38:55] Speaker 3: increased route rate for RJ Harvey. There was like, hell,
[38:58] Speaker 3: just put JK. Dobbins out those time of the day snaps.
[39:01] Speaker 3: It makes me hopeful that when you cut one of
[39:03] Speaker 3: these pieces out that that leaves room for RJ. Harvey
[39:06] Speaker 3: to pick that roll up, even if he didn't pick
[39:07] Speaker 3: it up last week. But like, god, that's frustrating, and
[39:10] Speaker 3: it increases the or it extends the timeline of like
[39:13] Speaker 3: here's when you're gonna be starting RJ Harvey in fantasy
[39:16] Speaker 3: weeks out from now potentially, So I think this one
[39:19] Speaker 3: is one of the most exciting potential because he's looked really,
[39:22] Speaker 3: really electric. Another guy who really pops in all the metrics,
[39:25] Speaker 3: largely because of one long run. But like, wait, you
[39:27] Speaker 3: do like if you don't count the long runs, it
[39:28] Speaker 3: doesn't look as good. Yeah, I know, it doesn't look
[39:30] Speaker 3: its gonna be don't count the long runs. He did
[39:32] Speaker 3: pop a long run, got three targets last week as well,
[39:34] Speaker 3: really high targets per rout run. Hopefully they're trying trying
[39:36] Speaker 3: to scheme him up a little more stuff even if
[39:38] Speaker 3: he doesn't actually hold that two minute drill type of role,
[39:42] Speaker 3: but another one where you paid for at least some
[39:45] Speaker 3: amount of early season production and you've gotten none of it. Like,
[39:48] Speaker 3: he's not startable in week four on the role he has,
[39:50] Speaker 3: and if he gets up to like thirty five to
[39:52] Speaker 3: forty percent of the snaps, like twenty five to thirty
[39:55] Speaker 3: percent of the carries, he's still vaguely startable at most
[39:58] Speaker 3: in week five. So fresh trading. Albeit the talent does
[40:02] Speaker 3: seem to be there, and we know Sean Payton's kind
[40:04] Speaker 3: of a king maker for running backs, So I feel
[40:06] Speaker 3: maybe the best about this one hitting in weeks I
[40:09] Speaker 3: don't know, twelve to seventeen. You're the fantasy playoff push
[40:13] Speaker 3: and the playoffs, but the fact that's where we're at
[40:16] Speaker 3: is probably going to make them go down as a
[40:17] Speaker 3: slightly if not meaningfully overpriced pick.
[40:20] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that we're all learning and
[40:23] Speaker 1: seeing firsthand, and I mean we knew this going into
[40:26] Speaker 1: the season that rookies tend to start slower and then
[40:28] Speaker 1: they can come alive during the second half of the season,
[40:31] Speaker 1: and that's part of the allure for them, is that
[40:33] Speaker 1: that's the more important time of the fantasy football season.
[40:36] Speaker 1: And even when you look at season long numbers and say,
[40:39] Speaker 1: and see how well these guys like perform eight outperform
[40:42] Speaker 1: ADP expectation. Even when you look at the season long numbers,
[40:45] Speaker 1: rookies tend to look pretty good. I mean, especially a
[40:47] Speaker 1: wide receiver, but even at running back and so across
[40:50] Speaker 1: the season, when we look back, I still think that
[40:53] Speaker 1: some of these guys will look Okay.
[40:55] Speaker 2: You know, there's gonna not all of them are going
[40:57] Speaker 2: to just pan out and work.
[40:58] Speaker 1: You know, but like you said, said Tyler Biday, not
[41:01] Speaker 1: seeing the work that he saw last week, I agree.
[41:04] Speaker 1: I mentioned that in the ten Trends show this week,
[41:06] Speaker 1: how it's nice to have a two headed monster instead
[41:08] Speaker 1: of a three headed monster. You know, like at least
[41:10] Speaker 1: that tells us that maybe there's gonna be a drive,
[41:13] Speaker 1: one extra drive that R. J. Harvey gets or something,
[41:15] Speaker 1: and you know he's able to just just slowly get
[41:17] Speaker 1: more and more work. And then obviously JK. Dobbins hasn't
[41:19] Speaker 1: been able to stay healthy throughout his career, so that's
[41:21] Speaker 1: that's another thing to keep in mind. But Dobbins, obviously,
[41:24] Speaker 1: you know, rest of season, you have to at this point,
[41:27] Speaker 1: you know, if if you haven't adjusted you have to
[41:29] Speaker 1: have JK.
[41:29] Speaker 2: Dobbins ahead of RJ. Harvey rest of season.
[41:31] Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, And I think this is like a good
[41:33] Speaker 3: reminder of like we are not drafting players, we are
[41:36] Speaker 3: building teams. And if RJ. Harvey finishes from weeks fourteen
[41:41] Speaker 3: through seventeen as a top five fantasy running back, he
[41:44] Speaker 3: probably goes down as like a good pick from a
[41:47] Speaker 3: ten thousand foot view, even if he does not outproduce
[41:50] Speaker 3: his He was drafted as the RB twenty five and
[41:53] Speaker 3: finishes the RB thirty six type ADP, he goes down
[41:56] Speaker 3: as a great pick if you took if you ate
[41:58] Speaker 3: your vegetables and drive, drafted a Travis Etn who got
[42:01] Speaker 3: you there, and maybe Etn fades down the stretches bas
[42:03] Speaker 3: Shall Tooton gets more work. Like, I love drafting rookies because,
[42:07] Speaker 3: like you said, the data generally supports that not only
[42:09] Speaker 3: are they really good during the fantasy playoff push, but
[42:12] Speaker 3: they're just generally at least a little bit undervalue. We've
[42:14] Speaker 3: been drafting them more lately, but especially in your home drafts,
[42:16] Speaker 3: like pretty good value to just like keep drafting the
[42:19] Speaker 3: rookies who seem like they're in decent spots who seem
[42:21] Speaker 3: like they're good prospects and just hope for the best
[42:23] Speaker 3: because it typically ends up being better than ADP suggests,
[42:27] Speaker 3: Like I love drafting them, but it would have been
[42:29] Speaker 3: and I tried to do this much more this year.
[42:31] Speaker 3: Very smart to build out your roster to take advantage
[42:33] Speaker 3: of those rookie hits, even if they end up just
[42:36] Speaker 3: being a hit in weeks ten, eleven, twelve or fifteen,
[42:38] Speaker 3: sixteen seventeen.
[42:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that that's one thing that I want
[42:42] Speaker 1: to research more and like focus my writing more on
[42:45] Speaker 1: this offseason, like and the draft guide is talking about okay,
[42:48] Speaker 1: like for instance, I had, you know, Tory Horton as
[42:51] Speaker 1: a late round Darth Brow, which is coming to fruition more.
[42:53] Speaker 1: And by the way, we're recording this before the Thursday
[42:55] Speaker 1: night game. But looking back, you know, maybe that's a
[42:59] Speaker 1: terrible example. Maybe if it's like, I don't know, a
[43:02] Speaker 1: wide out like or even a running back like ba
[43:04] Speaker 1: Shall Tutan, because you know, Tutan obviously isn't like getting
[43:08] Speaker 1: it done yet, but a player that you might be
[43:10] Speaker 1: able to just get later in the season in some way,
[43:14] Speaker 1: whether cheap through a trade or off the waiver wire
[43:16] Speaker 1: or something like that. Tutan's probably terrible example, but a
[43:19] Speaker 1: player that you could get later in the season or
[43:21] Speaker 1: off the waiver wire. Instead of using you know, a
[43:23] Speaker 1: last round pick to draft that player you know like
[43:26] Speaker 1: and then holding onto that player because you can't assume
[43:28] Speaker 1: that people are gonna hold on to him, it might
[43:30] Speaker 1: be just be a better idea to, you know, just
[43:33] Speaker 1: just wait on it and get those kinds of rookies.
[43:35] Speaker 1: But at the same time, if you're not spending on
[43:38] Speaker 1: some of these rookies, you are missing out on some
[43:40] Speaker 1: of the guys who do end up, you know, doing well.
[43:42] Speaker 1: Like Phukunakua was a late round Darth throw in the
[43:44] Speaker 1: draft guy when he was a rookie, and if you
[43:46] Speaker 1: didn't draft him, you were you know, not you were
[43:49] Speaker 1: you were fighting for him off the waiver wire with.
[43:51] Speaker 2: People, you know.
[43:52] Speaker 1: So it's this balancing act that I do want to
[43:54] Speaker 1: look into more and more from like a usability standpoint
[43:57] Speaker 1: of how we actually use these rookies within our team.
[44:00] Speaker 1: Like you said, we're drafting a team, not these individual players.
[44:02] Speaker 1: I think it's really really important. All Right, I'm gonna
[44:07] Speaker 1: say this player or that player, and you're gonna tell
[44:09] Speaker 1: me who you prefer rest of season more between these
[44:12] Speaker 1: two guys. Okay, you're ready to play this really really
[44:14] Speaker 1: fun game.
[44:15] Speaker 3: This sounds great.
[44:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, let's do it first one Amarion Hampton, another
[44:20] Speaker 1: rookie running back versus Kien Williams.
[44:24] Speaker 3: Amario Hampton. I think really the Kyen Williams, like Omarion
[44:28] Speaker 3: Hampton is just going to become the next Kyron Williams
[44:31] Speaker 3: and that like Hampton hasn't looked great through three games,
[44:33] Speaker 3: and his profile was like the best aspect of his
[44:36] Speaker 3: fantasy production profile coming out of college was like they
[44:39] Speaker 3: give this guy a whole lot of touches, and that's
[44:42] Speaker 3: what we care about. Like you know, at the end
[44:43] Speaker 3: of the day, that is the best value you can
[44:45] Speaker 3: have at almost any position. Is like your team trusts
[44:48] Speaker 3: you to take twenty carries a game. That's a really
[44:51] Speaker 3: cool thing in fantasy, even if he's not the best
[44:53] Speaker 3: actual running back in the NFL. And kyrone was that
[44:56] Speaker 3: the poster child of that for two years. Like he
[44:58] Speaker 3: ran all the route towards like past for those routes too,
[45:01] Speaker 3: got all the carries, got all the goal line work.
[45:03] Speaker 3: His fancy metrics said he was kind of just an
[45:05] Speaker 3: above average guy. But now we're actually seeing the mix
[45:08] Speaker 3: and Blake Korm a little bit for some goal line
[45:09] Speaker 3: work for some more routes, like both the snapshare, the
[45:12] Speaker 3: route rate, the carry share have all fallen for kyrone,
[45:16] Speaker 3: he was the perfect player who cannot sustain even a
[45:19] Speaker 3: small amount of drop and just overall cut of the pie.
[45:21] Speaker 3: It's like Hampton, even if it doesn't work out, is
[45:23] Speaker 3: probably similar to Kyroen, and maybe he does turn things around,
[45:26] Speaker 3: maybe he is great, which I think is the bones
[45:27] Speaker 3: you get on taking him versus Kyron.
[45:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
[45:30] Speaker 1: I was actually surprisingly ahead of the market when I
[45:32] Speaker 1: compared my rest season rankings to Fantasy pros rankers this
[45:35] Speaker 1: week on Kyrien Williams, which hasn't always been the case.
[45:38] Speaker 1: I think part of that is just that again, once
[45:41] Speaker 1: you get into that like high end RB two range,
[45:43] Speaker 1: you start to get into like, okay, what are these
[45:45] Speaker 1: guys you.
[45:46] Speaker 2: Know you have to place? So like a lot of
[45:49] Speaker 2: it is just like the stability of Kyrien.
[45:50] Speaker 1: I still think there's gonna be a floor, but I'm
[45:52] Speaker 1: with you where you know, if you look at like
[45:54] Speaker 1: Blake Korm's also looked really good, like very good, and
[45:57] Speaker 1: so you know when that's happening, he's losing some of
[46:00] Speaker 1: that work.
[46:01] Speaker 2: We know they don't target running backs at a high rate.
[46:03] Speaker 1: I know that Kyron had that receiving touchdown this past week,
[46:05] Speaker 1: but that saved his day in a way, and so
[46:09] Speaker 1: you know, I'm at least a little bit concerned.
[46:11] Speaker 2: I still have him as like a low end one,
[46:12] Speaker 2: high end two, but I have.
[46:13] Speaker 1: A Marion Hampton higher Zay Flowers versus George Pickens.
[46:17] Speaker 3: I mean Zay Flowers. This one wasn't even close to me,
[46:19] Speaker 3: like say, Flowers is just a star. I think he's
[46:21] Speaker 3: very clearly he I mean he fits the bill. He's
[46:23] Speaker 3: not wasn't quite as special. He wasn't as special as
[46:25] Speaker 3: a Brian Thomas or like Lak Neighbors. But he was
[46:28] Speaker 3: a good prospect who's good as a rookie and then
[46:31] Speaker 3: gets meaningfully better in his second year. Ups his targets
[46:33] Speaker 3: per out run, his yards per route run while also
[46:36] Speaker 3: operating any farther depth down field, so he's earning more
[46:39] Speaker 3: per route of higher value targets. He was the clear
[46:41] Speaker 3: like upward trajectory toward I don't even to say superstart. Right.
[46:44] Speaker 3: He still has probably another step to get there maybe,
[46:47] Speaker 3: but he was clearly just from the moment the NFL
[46:49] Speaker 3: started considering him as a first round pick to Week
[46:52] Speaker 3: one of the twenty twenty five NFL season, just consistent
[46:55] Speaker 3: upward trajectory. I get that the passing attack is probably
[46:59] Speaker 3: not going to be as good, but I will just
[47:01] Speaker 3: take the player who is right now dominating targets super efficient.
[47:04] Speaker 3: For George Pickens, who's like obviously ceedee Lamb's not going
[47:06] Speaker 3: to be there for a while, he should see a
[47:08] Speaker 3: meaningful uptick in targets, but there's like a step forward
[47:11] Speaker 3: Pickens has to take to be the fantasy producers that
[47:13] Speaker 3: save Flowers.
[47:14] Speaker 1: Is all right, Let's go to Chase Brown, who we
[47:17] Speaker 1: talked about earlier, versus Chuba Hubbard, who we also kind
[47:20] Speaker 1: of indirectly talked about it.
[47:21] Speaker 3: I didn't realize that I made that connection without I mean,
[47:24] Speaker 3: maybe there was something in the back of my head
[47:26] Speaker 3: Chuba Hubbard, like as we talked about, Like we've seen
[47:28] Speaker 3: Chewba Hubbard quite easily survive a very bad offensive outlook,
[47:32] Speaker 3: and I think at least it's going to be better
[47:34] Speaker 3: this year. Probably sill pretty high variants, like Bryce has
[47:36] Speaker 3: pretty shockingly low lows but he has some legitimate high eyes.
[47:41] Speaker 3: I just think the offensive environment for a similar player
[47:43] Speaker 3: is better for Hubbard.
[47:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, I'm with you. The thing that scares
[47:47] Speaker 1: me a little bit with Hubbard is is they are
[47:48] Speaker 1: mixing in Rico Daddle a little bit more. Like last
[47:50] Speaker 1: two weeks, Daddle has had like a thirty five percent
[47:52] Speaker 1: running back rush are when it was like twelve percent
[47:54] Speaker 1: week one, and then weeks one and.
[47:55] Speaker 4: Two, Hubbard saved his day both weeks with this like
[48:00] Speaker 4: late garbage time receiving touchdown, and both both games were
[48:04] Speaker 4: I might have even been the same play, but he
[48:05] Speaker 4: was like wide open on both.
[48:06] Speaker 2: Plays and he ended up scoring.
[48:08] Speaker 1: And so there is a little bit of that where
[48:10] Speaker 1: I think you're right where it's like RB two type
[48:13] Speaker 1: production because there's just a lot of RB twos, you know,
[48:15] Speaker 1: Like that's kind of but like I doubt Tuba gives
[48:17] Speaker 1: us that RB one season, and there might be some
[48:20] Speaker 1: inconsistencies there. But again, we already talked about how Chase
[48:23] Speaker 1: Brown has sort of been that bucket too.
[48:24] Speaker 2: All Right, We'll go to JK.
[48:26] Speaker 1: Dobbins, who we just talked about versus David Montgomery, who's
[48:29] Speaker 1: coming off a ridiculous game against Baltimore.
[48:31] Speaker 3: I did not have a strong answer for this one.
[48:33] Speaker 3: I went David Montgomery mostly because I think David Montgomery
[48:36] Speaker 3: just is what he is, and that is a really
[48:38] Speaker 3: good committee back on what turns out like obviously a slow,
[48:41] Speaker 3: I mean, really bad week one, still one of the
[48:43] Speaker 3: best offenses in football, and even being clearly behind JK.
[48:48] Speaker 3: Dobbins terms of like how many what percent of your
[48:50] Speaker 3: team's carries, what percent of your team's routes, all of
[48:52] Speaker 3: the market share type stuff, Clearly JK. Dobbins has the
[48:54] Speaker 3: advantage there. You still have a straight up just more
[48:57] Speaker 3: expected fantasy points no matter how you measure like PFF
[49:00] Speaker 3: so Rodo has expected fantasy points. Dave Montgomery comes in
[49:03] Speaker 3: ahead of JK. Dobbins because he plays on maybe the
[49:05] Speaker 3: best offense in football and you get in a lot
[49:06] Speaker 3: of advantageous situations there, and there's at least a reasonable
[49:10] Speaker 3: expectation that Dobbins's role is going to shrink going forward.
[49:13] Speaker 3: I think the lines have probably proved that that is
[49:15] Speaker 3: not going to happen with the Gibbs Montgomery split. They
[49:18] Speaker 3: just like Montgomery too much and he's really good at
[49:20] Speaker 3: what they ask him. To do.
[49:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean contingent upside too, right, Jamir Gibbs
[49:23] Speaker 1: goes down.
[49:24] Speaker 2: Knock on wood, everyone.
[49:25] Speaker 3: The top three fantasy running back of Jamir Gibbs goes down.
[49:28] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean everyone, please please please knock on
[49:30] Speaker 1: wood everyone right now.
[49:31] Speaker 3: Please.
[49:32] Speaker 1: We don't we do not need Jamiir Gibbs to go down,
[49:34] Speaker 1: but yeah, we have to think about the upside there,
[49:37] Speaker 1: whereas JK. Dobbins doesn't really have that kind of out. Okay,
[49:40] Speaker 1: three rookie running backs. I think this one's really interesting
[49:42] Speaker 1: to talk through. Cam Scataboo, Trayvon Henderson, quinnschod Judkins. Who
[49:47] Speaker 1: do you like most? You can even rank them if
[49:49] Speaker 1: you want to.
[49:49] Speaker 3: Risk, Yeah, I think scatibo Quin, Shawn, Trevion Henderson. I
[49:55] Speaker 3: actually feel like all I mean clearly all of them
[49:57] Speaker 3: are on the upswing right now. I will just say
[49:59] Speaker 3: Scott bo right now is in a pretty good position
[50:02] Speaker 3: to get all of the work both carries and catches
[50:05] Speaker 3: on a team that without Tyrone Tracy has like like,
[50:07] Speaker 3: they do not seem interested in giving Devin Singletary work.
[50:10] Speaker 3: I mean they don't even see him anymore, and interested
[50:11] Speaker 3: in giving Tyrone Tracy work. He's doing the thing that
[50:13] Speaker 3: like Ramandre does where man every chance he gets, he
[50:17] Speaker 3: makes you want to play the backup if you're a
[50:19] Speaker 3: head coach. Like he has had fumbling issues, he's had
[50:21] Speaker 3: drops issues. He's not good in past prone of course
[50:23] Speaker 3: he's hurt right now. And Scatabo looks really good too.
[50:26] Speaker 3: Not to say that like we don't think quin Shawn
[50:28] Speaker 3: and Trevion hendersons are gonna look good. If you're telling me,
[50:31] Speaker 3: Scatabo ranks really well in PFF. I think he's like
[50:33] Speaker 3: PF's third ranked running back right now, and he's getting
[50:36] Speaker 3: all the work. I'll just like that feels like I'll
[50:39] Speaker 3: just take the one who has pluses in all categories
[50:41] Speaker 3: where I do not know if travi On Henderson is
[50:43] Speaker 3: going to get all the work, and he hasn't looked
[50:45] Speaker 3: as good as Kim Scatabow. It's a small sample. I
[50:47] Speaker 3: still think we should expect him to be a better player.
[50:49] Speaker 3: But right now, the combo of work plus looking good
[50:53] Speaker 3: is both the most in favor of Scatabow because he's
[50:55] Speaker 3: going to be a pass catcher, but also really does
[50:57] Speaker 3: favorite Quinn Shawn Judkins as well. He came back and
[50:59] Speaker 3: just immediately took to the backfield. He was immediately getting
[51:02] Speaker 3: the majority of the carries in his first game back
[51:05] Speaker 3: from not practicing the almost entire summer, and then the
[51:08] Speaker 3: next game he almost completely shuts out the rest of
[51:10] Speaker 3: the running backs. Dylan Sampson doesn't appear to have any
[51:13] Speaker 3: bit of a role anymore. Jerome Ford is just out
[51:15] Speaker 3: there for pass catching. The only flaw in the Judkins
[51:17] Speaker 3: profile is that he probably is limited to primarily between
[51:20] Speaker 3: the tackles. Work on a team that I believe is
[51:23] Speaker 3: ten point underdogs this week, and they're going to be
[51:25] Speaker 3: This will be a you know, a crazy underdog situation.
[51:27] Speaker 3: They believe here road tripping to Detroit. I know they
[51:29] Speaker 3: play Detroit. I think it's on the road. They won't
[51:32] Speaker 3: play the one of the best teams in football on
[51:33] Speaker 3: the road every week, but they will be underdogs every week.
[51:36] Speaker 3: And that makes Judkins a very like I hope he
[51:38] Speaker 3: gets in the end zone because he's just not going
[51:39] Speaker 3: to catch enough passes. But like, who knows, they could
[51:42] Speaker 3: also just start playing him on passing downs too, because
[51:44] Speaker 3: he was an okay pass catcher, perfectly acceptable pass catcher
[51:47] Speaker 3: in college too.
[51:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I kept comping him to just like from
[51:51] Speaker 1: a usage standpoint to Jonathan Taylor whenever he was coming out.
[51:54] Speaker 1: You know, it's like not not to say that he
[51:55] Speaker 1: was as good of a prospect as Jonathan Taylor, but
[51:57] Speaker 1: in terms of like he could be like a nine
[51:59] Speaker 1: to ten percent target share player. And then obviously you
[52:01] Speaker 1: know JT's seen his workload and stuff even get better
[52:04] Speaker 1: this year. But regardless, Like the reason I brought them
[52:06] Speaker 1: up is because in my rest season rankings, they're basically
[52:08] Speaker 1: all in the same tier for me. But I think
[52:10] Speaker 1: it's one of those situations where it's like what do
[52:12] Speaker 1: you need for yours?
[52:13] Speaker 3: That made the question so hard? Go ahead, Yeah, that
[52:15] Speaker 3: was my first thought. It is like I can think
[52:18] Speaker 3: of different teams I have where I'm glad to have
[52:20] Speaker 3: one player and I wish I had the yet.
[52:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I think I think Henderson's probably the stash
[52:24] Speaker 1: candidate of the three, like the highest upside candidate, right
[52:26] Speaker 1: because you know Tyrone Tracy is gonna come back eventually,
[52:30] Speaker 1: and there could still be more of a split back deal,
[52:31] Speaker 1: but if you.
[52:32] Speaker 2: Need that production right away, I'd go Scataboo.
[52:34] Speaker 1: And then in between the two is kind of quinch
[52:36] Speaker 1: on Judkins right, and so that's kind of why I
[52:39] Speaker 1: wanted to see if if theyre But I'm glad it
[52:41] Speaker 1: seems like we're on the same page of just like,
[52:43] Speaker 1: these are guys who all do different things for your
[52:45] Speaker 1: fantasy team depending on what you.
[52:47] Speaker 2: Need for your squad.
[52:48] Speaker 1: Right now, all right, let's look at DK Metcalf versus.
[52:54] Speaker 3: T Higgins oh Man neither I mean Metcalf. I think
[53:01] Speaker 3: I think the answer is Metcalf. I mean, I will
[53:05] Speaker 3: say that the Steelers are kind of interesting in that, like,
[53:07] Speaker 3: I think Rogers is like seventy five to eighty percent cooked,
[53:11] Speaker 3: but everyone in a while he does do something really cool,
[53:13] Speaker 3: Like there are three flashes where his old man's strength
[53:15] Speaker 3: surges to a truly incredible peak. Rogers as play, the
[53:19] Speaker 3: valleys between them are just pretty stunning. But they are
[53:23] Speaker 3: also playing at like a relatively neutral pace and a
[53:26] Speaker 3: neutral pass rate over expected, which is like they're finding
[53:28] Speaker 3: some sort of probably relatively unhappy, but some sort of
[53:31] Speaker 3: medium between the type of football that Aaron Rodgers wants
[53:35] Speaker 3: to play, which is pass heavy but super slow, and
[53:38] Speaker 3: the type of football that Arthur Smith wants to play,
[53:40] Speaker 3: which is the most runt heavy in the NFL. The
[53:42] Speaker 3: fact that that volume in theory is there for guys
[53:45] Speaker 3: like Metcalf or the tight ends or Calvin Austin as
[53:48] Speaker 3: opposed to there's a scenario which they were the most
[53:51] Speaker 3: run heavy and slowest team in the NFL that has not,
[53:54] Speaker 3: you know, come to pass. So there's at least like
[53:57] Speaker 3: some meat on the bone for Metcalf. These are both bad.
[54:01] Speaker 3: I don't like these.
[54:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's tough because I don't think Metcalf.
[54:04] Speaker 1: I think I think he's proven at this point he's
[54:06] Speaker 1: not a target earner, you know, like he's not He's
[54:09] Speaker 1: just not going to be that, Like, because the way
[54:10] Speaker 1: that he was going to really pay off this year
[54:12] Speaker 1: was if he was like a twenty eight percent target
[54:14] Speaker 1: share player, right, and I think we're seeing that. I
[54:17] Speaker 1: don't know, if I were to project rest of season
[54:19] Speaker 1: target share for him, twenty two percent maybe something around that.
[54:22] Speaker 3: Quite literally just the same as any other year of
[54:24] Speaker 3: his career. Yeah, right, Yeah, he played with some good players,
[54:27] Speaker 3: like obviously he played with JSN who didn't break out
[54:29] Speaker 3: until the second half of DK's final season. Played with
[54:32] Speaker 3: Tyle Lockett, who's really good. Even if it was towards
[54:34] Speaker 3: the tail end of his career, but he proved there
[54:36] Speaker 3: at least you know, there was a chance he didn't.
[54:38] Speaker 3: But it turns out that the guy's target shaw was
[54:40] Speaker 3: pretty stable with him as a player, and the same
[54:42] Speaker 3: way that like player adots have a surprising amount of
[54:45] Speaker 3: stickiness year to year because the guy runs a similar
[54:48] Speaker 3: route tree last year as he did this year. Dk
[54:50] Speaker 3: Metcalf is no more laterally agile than he was five
[54:54] Speaker 3: years ago. He is to day like there are just
[54:55] Speaker 3: certain things he's not capable of and that limits his
[54:57] Speaker 3: ability to just go out and be like every third
[54:59] Speaker 3: play he's a target.
[55:00] Speaker 1: Dk Metcalf, Yeah, one hundred percent. All right, this is
[55:03] Speaker 1: a fun one. Caleb Williams versus Daniel Jones.
[55:06] Speaker 3: Look, I I was, I was. I'm picking the obviously
[55:11] Speaker 3: the fell forward again ward Daniel Jones, Like this time counts.
[55:14] Speaker 3: He's finally good. But Caylo was really awesome last week
[55:18] Speaker 3: as of right now that's week three, but he's still
[55:21] Speaker 3: on the year, Like we can't just say, like, well,
[55:23] Speaker 3: the last thing he did was pretty awesome and not
[55:24] Speaker 3: ignore the fact in the first two games he was
[55:26] Speaker 3: pretty terrible on the year. He's fifteenth in EPA per
[55:29] Speaker 3: play twenty fifth in completion percent over expected. PFF has
[55:33] Speaker 3: him as one of the least accurate quarterbacks in terms
[55:35] Speaker 3: of accurate throw rate. Daniel Jones is crushing all that stuff,
[55:38] Speaker 3: and like, if it's a gimmick, I'm fine with that
[55:40] Speaker 3: and saying that, like they're running right now, a ton
[55:42] Speaker 3: of play action, a ton of RPO. They're generally keeping
[55:45] Speaker 3: him clean pocket too. All of this stuff has worked
[55:48] Speaker 3: in the favor of Daniel Jones. But I also don't
[55:51] Speaker 3: see why that stuff wouldn't persist. Maybe it comes down, right, like,
[55:54] Speaker 3: maybe they aren't the most play action, heavier, RPO heavy
[55:57] Speaker 3: team in the league going forward, but it's not like
[55:59] Speaker 3: they had the world's a schedule, right, Like one of
[56:01] Speaker 3: the wins came against a really good Broncos team in
[56:03] Speaker 3: which he played really good football against those Broncos. And
[56:06] Speaker 3: maybe the if you if you want to just say,
[56:08] Speaker 3: like this is all like two pie in the sky stuff.
[56:12] Speaker 3: They're using Daniel Jones as a goal line running back.
[56:13] Speaker 3: He has one He has one pewer carry inside the
[56:16] Speaker 3: five than Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. So if you
[56:19] Speaker 3: think Caleb is better, perfectly acceptable, And I don't want
[56:21] Speaker 3: to be the one going to bat for Daniel Jones.
[56:23] Speaker 3: But if for fantasy purposes you need the very clear
[56:27] Speaker 3: tie breaker, it's a guy who's like a goal line
[56:30] Speaker 3: running back.
[56:31] Speaker 2: We get it. You love Daniel Jones and you think
[56:33] Speaker 2: he's the best quarterback in football, we get it.
[56:34] Speaker 3: Man, he's playing really well.
[56:36] Speaker 2: He is playing well. Yeah, it was crazy.
[56:38] Speaker 1: I was like, his pressure to sack ratio right now
[56:40] Speaker 1: is by far, not even close, by far the best
[56:43] Speaker 1: in the league, which is crazy because two years ago
[56:47] Speaker 1: that he was horrible in that within that metric, and
[56:50] Speaker 1: we know that that's often a quarterback type metric, you know,
[56:53] Speaker 1: from a from a stickiness standpoint. I'm very this is
[56:55] Speaker 1: what I'm gonna I'm gonna put this out there into
[56:57] Speaker 1: the universe. I think this game this weekkend against that
[57:01] Speaker 1: Rams front is going to be the most interesting test
[57:04] Speaker 1: for me with Daniel Jones, just to see.
[57:07] Speaker 2: How that offense is able to handle more pressure.
[57:10] Speaker 1: Like you said, they played well against Denver, so I
[57:12] Speaker 1: don't want to, you know, say that they haven't faced anyone,
[57:15] Speaker 1: but I'm you know, they're on the road.
[57:17] Speaker 2: It's just gonna be a really interesting matchup. In my eyes.
[57:19] Speaker 1: I'm not saying either way, like I'm just kind of
[57:21] Speaker 1: living in the middle with Daniel Jones, which is a
[57:23] Speaker 1: really really very much a cop out type answer.
[57:25] Speaker 2: And I like Kleb a lot.
[57:28] Speaker 1: Just because of that environment that he's in, you know,
[57:30] Speaker 1: like he's scrambling a lot, he's got the weapons, and
[57:33] Speaker 1: their defense is absolutely putrid.
[57:35] Speaker 2: So I'm excited about like what that upside might look like.
[57:39] Speaker 1: But I understand if people want to go Daniel Jones
[57:41] Speaker 1: with this one last one. I think this one's fun too,
[57:44] Speaker 1: because Travis Kelcey's been doing what he's doing, which is
[57:47] Speaker 1: not a lot, and then Juwan Johnson has had insane usage.
[57:50] Speaker 1: But Juwan Johnson versus Travis Kelsey, who do you want?
[57:53] Speaker 2: Rest of season?
[57:54] Speaker 3: I didn't like for a lot of these. Obviously it
[57:55] Speaker 3: came with a lot of stats. I was like, I
[57:56] Speaker 3: don't mean stats. Travis kelce is so washed. I mean,
[57:58] Speaker 3: you could look, okay, he's on pace for like career
[58:02] Speaker 3: worse in yards for outrun targets per outrun PFF for
[58:04] Speaker 3: steven grade. Last year was his worst year in yards
[58:07] Speaker 3: run out run The year before that worst year maybe
[58:10] Speaker 3: until like his first or second year he didn't actually
[58:12] Speaker 3: play it his first year, but ten year lows basically
[58:14] Speaker 3: across the board three years ago, two years ago, in
[58:17] Speaker 3: this year, like that is, there is no more obvious
[58:20] Speaker 3: player in decline in the NFL right now than Travis kelcey,
[58:23] Speaker 3: and he has the benefit of not having a single
[58:26] Speaker 3: pass catcher of note to compete with right now because
[58:28] Speaker 3: everywhere he's played what like three snaps or whatever it was,
[58:31] Speaker 3: and Rashid Rice has not played a snap yet, so
[58:33] Speaker 3: things are only getting worse from here and he's barely
[58:36] Speaker 3: doing anything. Whereas Juwan, like like it or not, is
[58:40] Speaker 3: one of the highest usage tight ends in the NFL,
[58:42] Speaker 3: his usage will probably fall because our prior should be
[58:45] Speaker 3: that like, he's not the best target earning title. He's
[58:48] Speaker 3: not McBride, is not tra McBride, and if he falls
[58:51] Speaker 3: to just Hunter Henry, he will probably still outscore Travis kelcey.
[58:55] Speaker 3: And the truth is probably somewhere in the middle that
[58:56] Speaker 3: he probably will continue to earn targets at a good
[58:58] Speaker 3: clip even if not. Tramick I didn't even have to
[59:02] Speaker 3: think about this.
[59:02] Speaker 1: It was very clearly Juwan, Yeah, I've found myself like
[59:05] Speaker 1: every week since week one, being higher than the market
[59:09] Speaker 1: considerably with Juwan Johnson, just because I mean, what more
[59:13] Speaker 1: could you ask for from a usage standpoint, And like
[59:15] Speaker 1: the Saints are playing in these negative scripts, they play
[59:18] Speaker 1: at a fast pace. Like the Saints are actually not
[59:21] Speaker 1: a horrible environment for fantasy because of that and because
[59:24] Speaker 1: of the passing volume that we might be able to
[59:26] Speaker 1: see there, And so yeah, I mean I think this
[59:28] Speaker 1: is I mostly wanted to, you know, just like bury
[59:32] Speaker 1: the Travis Kelcey talk at this point and just not
[59:34] Speaker 1: have to do it anymore.
[59:35] Speaker 2: So thank you for doing that.
[59:36] Speaker 1: All right, a few more questions by candidate, favorite by
[59:39] Speaker 1: candidate right now for the rest of the season.
[59:42] Speaker 3: I mean, you just mentioned how good the Saints environment is,
[59:44] Speaker 3: and mine is Chris o'lovi. He is the number one
[59:47] Speaker 3: receiver in expected fantasy points. He is in terms of
[59:50] Speaker 3: PPR expected fantasy points, the number three overall flex player,
[59:53] Speaker 3: behind only Christian McCaffrey, Engaineer Gibbs. Like you said, I
[59:57] Speaker 3: get the Saints are not going to throw the football,
[59:59] Speaker 3: particularly a f They're going to have to do it
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: a lot, and they are leaning into that as a
[1:00:04] Speaker 3: fast paced team. That is I mean, at worst, right now,
[1:00:07] Speaker 3: you're getting PPR scam the targets aren't that great in
[1:00:09] Speaker 3: terms of like accuracy, but they are enough of enough
[1:00:12] Speaker 3: of the targets to support wide receiver two ish production.
[1:00:15] Speaker 3: But if he just comes close to living up to
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: just capturing the equity of the volume he has, he
[1:00:21] Speaker 3: is a I mean quite literally, if he comes close
[1:00:22] Speaker 3: to that, he's a top five fantasy receiver because he's
[1:00:25] Speaker 3: seeing the ball more than any other player in the NFL.
[1:00:28] Speaker 3: And we have I think a pretty strong prior that
[1:00:30] Speaker 3: I think he's really good. He's another player who you
[1:00:33] Speaker 3: talk about comes into the NFL immediately I think eleven
[1:00:36] Speaker 3: hundred yards two plus yards per out run and back
[1:00:39] Speaker 3: to back to back seasons to start his career. I
[1:00:41] Speaker 3: am very confident, at least I'm reasonably confident that he is,
[1:00:45] Speaker 3: at his core, a very good real life football player.
[1:00:48] Speaker 3: And now the team is just pumping him with volume
[1:00:50] Speaker 3: of the likes we have never seen before for him,
[1:00:52] Speaker 3: and we are not seen with anyone else in the NFL,
[1:00:54] Speaker 3: and he just hasn't made good on it, and maybe
[1:00:56] Speaker 3: he never will because maybe he's not as good as
[1:00:58] Speaker 3: I think he is, And of course his quarterback plays
[1:01:00] Speaker 3: pretty poor. But when we're getting as much volume from
[1:01:02] Speaker 3: a player I think is as good as I think
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: Olave is, and he hasn't lift up to the expectation yet.
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: I feel like that is the most obvious bisignal.
[1:01:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, love that. How about a cell candidate.
[1:01:12] Speaker 3: We talked about him earlier, This one, I think you
[1:01:14] Speaker 3: could lump into a lot and maybe maybe fantasy has
[1:01:16] Speaker 3: advanced too far for this to be a viable strategy.
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: But in the like vein of JK. Dobbins or like
[1:01:22] Speaker 3: Remandre heading into last week, obviously he's not high anymore,
[1:01:25] Speaker 3: but I had Travis Eten. He is just greatly outkicking
[1:01:28] Speaker 3: the coverage on in terms of his efficiency and what
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: the volume says he should be getting. And I think
[1:01:32] Speaker 3: that's fair to say he probably will do that to
[1:01:34] Speaker 3: some degree. This wileam Cohen Offens is super friendly to
[1:01:37] Speaker 3: getting running backs fantasy points. But he's twenty second and
[1:01:40] Speaker 3: percent of team carries twenty fifth in route rate. But
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: he's a ppr RB nine and also like total slappy
[1:01:46] Speaker 3: move Base Duton looks good Man Basechill Tuton looked really
[1:01:49] Speaker 3: good and he didn't play a ton last week. He
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: still plundered a short yardage touchdown. He didn't play a
[1:01:53] Speaker 3: lot last week. I think because he's dealing with his
[1:01:55] Speaker 3: shoulder injury that I would assume they're kind of protecting
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: him from. But every time he gets on the field
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: he will great. I think he will force a true
[1:02:01] Speaker 3: fifty to fifty committee. I don't know by like week
[1:02:03] Speaker 3: ten or something, at which point Travis Etn probably falls
[1:02:06] Speaker 3: back closer to that RB twenty range. Still a good
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: fantasy asset for right now, he's easily outproducing that.
[1:02:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, look, I mentioned this in the mailbag.
[1:02:14] Speaker 1: It's not even released yet at the time of this recording,
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: but that is a play. Like someone asked me about
[1:02:18] Speaker 1: Travis Etn and my answer was, like, he's outside the.
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: Top twenty and every volume.
[1:02:23] Speaker 1: Related metric that we care about, where we're looking at
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: rush share, you're looking at route participation and so on
[1:02:29] Speaker 1: and so forth, and he's clearly outperforming how he's been
[1:02:32] Speaker 1: used in Last week, he scored a touchdown because the
[1:02:34] Speaker 1: Texans let him score a touchdown and happened at the
[1:02:37] Speaker 1: end of the game. They let the jag scores they
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: could could get the ball back. He should have just
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: fallen out in the one, and they talked about that
[1:02:43] Speaker 1: after the game.
[1:02:44] Speaker 2: I am a.
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: Massive, massive bashall Tuton Stan and so I am a
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: believer that he's going to steal more and more work
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: as the season goes on. And it's been wild to
[1:02:53] Speaker 1: me looking at because again I create my rest of
[1:02:55] Speaker 1: season rankings and I just compare it to how other
[1:02:58] Speaker 1: people were ranking, because then that way I can say, hey,
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: I'm higher or lower on this player, Travis Etn. This
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: week has consistently been like a high at least a
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: high end two for people high end RB two, whereas
[1:03:08] Speaker 1: I have them more in like the RB twenty range
[1:03:10] Speaker 1: like you mentioned, and so I am definitely more in
[1:03:12] Speaker 1: the cell camp for Etn. So very funny slash not
[1:03:15] Speaker 1: surprising that we have agreement with both the buy and
[1:03:19] Speaker 1: the cell candidate. Or the last question before I let
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: you go, I do this with every guest during the season.
[1:03:24] Speaker 1: Give me a bold, a fire prediction for Week number four.
[1:03:29] Speaker 3: Lad McConkie. We talked about him earlier. It's been frustrating
[1:03:32] Speaker 3: and I don't know if it'll change over the course
[1:03:34] Speaker 3: of the season, but Week four looks like an absolute
[1:03:37] Speaker 3: smash spot for Lad McConkie. I'll say one hundred and
[1:03:39] Speaker 3: fifty yards in a touchdown. This is the breakout spot
[1:03:41] Speaker 3: we've been waiting for.
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: Are you? Are you a belief?
[1:03:44] Speaker 3: Like?
[1:03:44] Speaker 1: How would you rank those three wide receivers rest of season?
[1:03:46] Speaker 1: Because there was a viral tweet going out that the
[1:03:48] Speaker 1: ESPN guys had lad third of the three, all three
[1:03:52] Speaker 1: of them did. And this is not I love all
[1:03:54] Speaker 1: three of those guys. This is not saying they could
[1:03:56] Speaker 1: easily be right. So I'm not saying anything negative about
[1:03:59] Speaker 1: how they ranked them. How would you rank the because
[1:04:01] Speaker 1: I don't have it in that order, But how would
[1:04:02] Speaker 1: you rank the Chargers wide receivers rest of season?
[1:04:05] Speaker 3: No, they're super nice people and like sometimes you just
[1:04:07] Speaker 3: disagree with nice.
[1:04:08] Speaker 2: Face, just disagree with It's fine, yeah, right, but I
[1:04:11] Speaker 2: do the.
[1:04:11] Speaker 3: Thing is I do. If you don't stand for something,
[1:04:13] Speaker 3: you'll fall for anything. And I'm not falling for this.
[1:04:16] Speaker 3: I don't want to say nonsense because both Keenan Allen
[1:04:18] Speaker 3: and Quentin Johnson have legitimately played well, Like I don't
[1:04:20] Speaker 3: think they're doing anything that like they don't deserve. But
[1:04:24] Speaker 3: like I said earlier, there is this very tricky tight
[1:04:26] Speaker 3: rope to walk of our priors coming into the season
[1:04:29] Speaker 3: versus three weeks of data, and to me, the three
[1:04:32] Speaker 3: weeks of Lad being disappointing but not atrocious like Brian
[1:04:35] Speaker 3: Thomas Junior has been atrocious. I still have faith in
[1:04:38] Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Junior. He's played like garbage. Ladd has not
[1:04:41] Speaker 3: played like that. Even in Week one he had a
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: deep ball that Justin Herbert just missed him on. And
[1:04:45] Speaker 3: if he hits on that one play, I am confident
[1:04:47] Speaker 3: we are not talking about him in the same way
[1:04:49] Speaker 3: that we are right now. I would rank them Lad, Keenan,
[1:04:52] Speaker 3: QJ credits QJ. They're like I did not think he
[1:04:56] Speaker 3: was a good prospect. I felt very vindicated when he
[1:04:59] Speaker 3: played poorly in his entire rookie season. He is a
[1:05:02] Speaker 3: legit good football player. I think the targets just have
[1:05:05] Speaker 3: to go somewhere, and I'm so confident that Lad is
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: the most talented of them. And Keenan is really quite
[1:05:09] Speaker 3: a good fit for what Justin Herbert is doing. Anytime
[1:05:11] Speaker 3: he doesn't want to look deep, Keenan's there and he's open.
[1:05:14] Speaker 3: But I'm still going to cling to the fact that
[1:05:15] Speaker 3: Lad's rookie season was so elite that he will bounce
[1:05:18] Speaker 3: back great spot versus the Giants too. The Giants have
[1:05:21] Speaker 3: given up more yards, more yards and targets two slot
[1:05:24] Speaker 3: receivers than any other team in the NFL right now.
[1:05:26] Speaker 3: And of course Ladds running about sixty three if I
[1:05:29] Speaker 3: remember correctly, percent of his routes from the slot. So
[1:05:31] Speaker 3: to me, just very clear spot where again I don't
[1:05:34] Speaker 3: know if he lives quite up to my very lofty
[1:05:36] Speaker 3: expectations for him, but Week four actually strikes me as
[1:05:39] Speaker 3: a game where he.
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: Does lad McConkey smash. I love it, Kyle, this was great.
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: Let everyone know where they can find you, what you're
[1:05:46] Speaker 1: working on, and what they can expect from you rest
[1:05:48] Speaker 1: the season.
[1:05:49] Speaker 3: Find me. You try and keep up with tweeting all
[1:05:51] Speaker 3: of my stuff out on Twitter at Kyle tweets here,
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: but if not always on the Rotal World Football Show
[1:05:56] Speaker 3: and always dropping like a few weekly articles on Rotor World.
[1:05:59] Speaker 1: I can't believe that we didn't mention Denny Carter once
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: on this show where where you were one of the
[1:06:04] Speaker 1: rare people that actually get to experience doing a show
[1:06:06] Speaker 1: with Denny consistently, and you know the you know how
[1:06:10] Speaker 1: how awful that experience can be.
[1:06:12] Speaker 3: Look, we've developed a system where anytime Denny says something
[1:06:15] Speaker 3: we don't like, we just make fun of him or
[1:06:17] Speaker 3: remuse Mike, and then at the end of the show
[1:06:19] Speaker 3: like it wasn't that bad of take for being honest,
[1:06:21] Speaker 3: But we don't concede that until the joke has fully
[1:06:23] Speaker 3: run its course.
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, Denny, Denny, I mean, especially on Living the Stream,
[1:06:27] Speaker 1: because Living the Stream is not I mean, it's basically
[1:06:28] Speaker 1: not even a football show, fantasy football show anymore. But
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: the kinds of things that he's said in the past
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: have have made my jaw drop many times, but I
[1:06:35] Speaker 1: love him for it.
