[0:01] Speaker 1: Rich Man, How is your Father's day?
[0:02] Speaker 2: Father's Day was great, super chill, went to the community pool,
[0:06] Speaker 2: had a nice day. Couldn't be happy. What about you?
[0:09] Speaker 1: It was good? You know. My daughter had a dance competition.
[0:12] Speaker 1: She was in nationals.
[0:13] Speaker 3: They got second place in her in her group, in
[0:15] Speaker 3: her category.
[0:16] Speaker 1: So props to her.
[0:17] Speaker 3: We got back from that competition, and I got a
[0:21] Speaker 3: present from my son, who's three.
[0:23] Speaker 1: Okay.
[0:23] Speaker 3: It was one of those laminated sheets that you know,
[0:26] Speaker 3: you answer questions based on what their teachers are asking
[0:29] Speaker 3: about your dad, and so you know, like my dad's
[0:32] Speaker 3: name is, and he said daddy.
[0:33] Speaker 1: For that particular question.
[0:35] Speaker 3: And then one of the questions was my dad is
[0:38] Speaker 3: blank years old, and so you know, usually when kids
[0:41] Speaker 3: answer that, they could say, oh, my dad's one hundred
[0:43] Speaker 3: and ten years old, and then it's funny because you
[0:45] Speaker 3: know that they have no concept of age, or my
[0:47] Speaker 3: dad's eight years old and they have no idea what's
[0:48] Speaker 3: going on. But instead, I think that he gave the
[0:51] Speaker 3: most insulting answer you could possibly give.
[0:54] Speaker 1: He said fifty two.
[0:56] Speaker 3: I'm JJ and over the last couple of years, I've
[0:58] Speaker 3: been doing everything I can to be a best ball
[1:01] Speaker 3: bro and last season things finally fell into place. I
[1:04] Speaker 3: got fortieth in the DraftKings MILLI Contest, taking home twenty
[1:08] Speaker 3: thousand dollars. Maybe I became a best ball bro, but
[1:11] Speaker 3: I'm still looking to learn more about this game, and
[1:14] Speaker 3: i still want others.
[1:15] Speaker 1: To come on this ride with me.
[1:17] Speaker 3: So even if you consider me a best ball bro,
[1:19] Speaker 3: this could be your year. This could be the year
[1:22] Speaker 3: that you officially become a best ball Bro.
[1:41] Speaker 1: This episode is sponsored by DraftKings.
[1:43] Speaker 3: We've partnered up with DraftKings again this year for Best

[1:55] Speaker 3: weekly lineup management, and your top scorers start automatically.
[1:59] Speaker 1: Each week all season long.

[2:17] Speaker 1: The crown is yours.
[2:21] Speaker 3: Welcome into another episode of Becoming a Best ball Bro.
[2:23] Speaker 3: I'm jj zacharieson joined as always by Rich Ryan Rich.
[2:28] Speaker 1: What's going on, buddy, doing good?
[2:29] Speaker 2: It's funny when you were workshopping that cold open. I
[2:32] Speaker 2: let you know this story. When I was younger and
[2:34] Speaker 2: my mom was turning forty, my dad told me as
[2:37] Speaker 2: a joke that she was turning fifty, and of course me,
[2:41] Speaker 2: I'm talking all my friends they're telling their parents. So
[2:44] Speaker 2: for the next week or so, every parent is going
[2:46] Speaker 2: up to tell my mom and they're like, Doren, you
[2:48] Speaker 2: look great, you look fantastic. Such a mean joke by
[2:52] Speaker 2: my dad.
[2:53] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[2:53] Speaker 3: I mean, like fifty two is like the perfect age
[2:55] Speaker 3: where it's believable, right, where like you could you could
[2:58] Speaker 3: understand why someone would be with a three year old,
[3:01] Speaker 3: like that's not an untotally uncommon thing.
[3:03] Speaker 1: But I'm not.
[3:04] Speaker 3: I'm not that old, Okay. I know some people on Twitter.
[3:07] Speaker 3: I've revealed my age before in the past. I'm thirty
[3:09] Speaker 3: eight for the record, everybody, but I've revealed my age
[3:12] Speaker 3: before in the past, and people on Twitter have been like, oh, man,
[3:15] Speaker 3: like some people thought that I was like maybe early
[3:17] Speaker 3: thirties or something. But then randomly people are like, oh,
[3:19] Speaker 3: I thought you were like in your mid fifties and such,
[3:22] Speaker 3: And I'm like, do I really come across that way?
[3:24] Speaker 3: Do I really present myself as a as a a true,
[3:28] Speaker 3: true middle aged man.
[3:29] Speaker 1: I mean, don't answer that question. Actually, you probably don't
[3:32] Speaker 1: want to answer that.
[3:33] Speaker 3: I think it's the I think it's the sleeping stuff,
[3:35] Speaker 3: you know, the East Coast dad stuff that I complain about.
[3:37] Speaker 2: For sure. You guys gotta stay up late for every
[3:39] Speaker 2: sporting event. But yeah, when I look in the mirror,
[3:41] Speaker 2: I still see the young self more often than not.
[3:46] Speaker 2: Now I'm starting to see the older guy, the dad,
[3:49] Speaker 2: the guy that's gonna be like you turning forty in
[3:51] Speaker 2: a couple of years. But I still squint and see
[3:54] Speaker 2: the young kid that has a lot of heart and
[3:56] Speaker 2: a lot of energy.
[3:57] Speaker 1: I don't feel different than I did. I genuinely like like.
[4:02] Speaker 3: Late thirties or like like like you know how they
[4:05] Speaker 3: felt last generation about the late twenties. In my opinion,
[4:08] Speaker 3: you know, like every generation gets younger. Go look at
[4:11] Speaker 3: pictures of your grandparents when they were like fifty six
[4:14] Speaker 3: years old. They look like they're they're one hundred and ninety.
[4:17] Speaker 3: It's it's bizarre. I don't understand how are why that happens.
[4:21] Speaker 3: Like I look at my dad right now. My dad's
[4:23] Speaker 3: in his late seventies, and I look at him right now,
[4:25] Speaker 3: and I'm like, man, he's in really great shape. He
[4:27] Speaker 3: looks like like if my grandparents were like when they
[4:30] Speaker 3: were that same age, when they were in their late seventies,
[4:33] Speaker 3: they look like they were they were on their deathbed.
[4:35] Speaker 1: Like it's just it's just crazy how each generation just.
[4:38] Speaker 3: Keeps getting younger and younger, and hopefully we you know,
[4:41] Speaker 3: us US millennials, continue that.
[4:42] Speaker 2: It is true. There's a famous roster photo or headshots
[4:46] Speaker 2: of like a ninety one Penn State team that always
[4:48] Speaker 2: pops up on my feed maybe monthly, and every single
[4:51] Speaker 2: dude on that team looks forty five. Like I'm like, oh,
[4:54] Speaker 2: these guys playing gallege football.
[4:56] Speaker 3: You know those like old high school videos that they'll
[4:58] Speaker 3: put put on like social media sometimes, you know, like
[5:00] Speaker 3: see like the late eighties, early nineties, I'm like, why
[5:02] Speaker 3: is there a thirty three year old that's in the
[5:04] Speaker 3: senior in high school. This doesn't make any sense to me.
[5:06] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, or basically, like any any TV show or
[5:09] Speaker 3: movie from back then, all the kids look so much older.
[5:12] Speaker 1: Anyway, we got to talk a little best ball today.
[5:15] Speaker 3: My plan is to talk about my top exposures right now,
[5:19] Speaker 3: a couple of them at each position through twenty eight
[5:22] Speaker 3: MILLI drafts.
[5:23] Speaker 1: How many? How many million drafts have you done so far?
[5:26] Speaker 2: I haven't done a single MILLI yet. I've just been
[5:28] Speaker 2: sickened to the three dollars one million prize pool guarantee.
[5:33] Speaker 2: But I'm up above a dozen. I'm pushing. I'm getting
[5:35] Speaker 2: towards I think twenty drafts in that so I'm holding
[5:39] Speaker 2: off my millies and just firing the three dollars for now.
[5:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a lot of sloughs that I had
[5:43] Speaker 3: entered right after the NFL drafts, but I'm only through
[5:46] Speaker 3: twenty eight MILLI drafts. Obviously I'm gonna be max entering,
[5:49] Speaker 3: so I'm through twenty eight. I think overall, I'm at
[5:52] Speaker 3: about like post draft. I'm at about one hundred and
[5:54] Speaker 3: ten or so drafts that are either ongoing or completed.
[5:58] Speaker 3: But like I said, I'm gonna go through some of
[6:00] Speaker 3: my top exposures. I guess I'll just kick it off
[6:02] Speaker 3: at quarterback real quick, and I'm gonna talk about Malik
[6:05] Speaker 3: Willis now. I do think that there's some concern maybe
[6:10] Speaker 3: about him losing his job late in the season, like
[6:13] Speaker 3: maybe that would happen and they would go down that
[6:16] Speaker 3: path like a you know, cover your ears, rich like
[6:18] Speaker 3: a Justin Fields type situation, right where there's some hope
[6:22] Speaker 3: that this because it's not like the most extreme contract
[6:25] Speaker 3: in the world for Malik Willis. It's not like they're
[6:27] Speaker 3: like locked in for six years and they have to
[6:29] Speaker 3: play him necessarily.
[6:31] Speaker 1: So I do think that there's like maybe.
[6:33] Speaker 3: Some risk that Willis is just not it and you know,
[6:36] Speaker 3: they end up benching him and they want to see
[6:38] Speaker 3: what other quarterbacks can do within that offense.
[6:41] Speaker 1: And I mean, look, it's a.
[6:43] Speaker 3: Frighteningly bad offense from a personnel standpoint, right, Like it's
[6:46] Speaker 3: devon a chan and then it's the fact that we're
[6:49] Speaker 3: talking about Greg Dolcic as their top drafted player outside.
[6:53] Speaker 1: Of a chan is frightening, right.
[6:55] Speaker 3: So I get I get the downside risk with Willis
[6:57] Speaker 3: for sure, but I think the upside risk it's simil
[7:00] Speaker 3: to what we saw or the upside potential. It's similar
[7:02] Speaker 3: to like like you can use Justin Fields if you
[7:04] Speaker 3: want as an example, where like, yeah, you need the
[7:08] Speaker 3: passing numbers to really elevate the rushing stuff to be
[7:11] Speaker 3: like super relevant fantasy. But Field still could give you
[7:15] Speaker 3: very usable QB one production, you know when he was starting.
[7:18] Speaker 3: So I have some notes here about what Willis has done.
[7:22] Speaker 3: In a small sample he's had six starts, He's averaged
[7:24] Speaker 3: eight and a half points per game via rushing in
[7:27] Speaker 3: those starts. Now, for context, even if you remove last
[7:29] Speaker 3: year's season from Lamar Jackson, where he was under that
[7:32] Speaker 3: four point per game mark via rushing, he's been at
[7:35] Speaker 3: about eight points per game throughout his career Lamar Jackson has.
[7:38] Speaker 3: So in our very limited sample six starts of the
[7:40] Speaker 3: leak Willis, he's given you the same number of rushing
[7:43] Speaker 3: points per game as Lamar Jackson has. Now, look the
[7:47] Speaker 3: thing with Lamar that I think just still doesn't get
[7:49] Speaker 3: talked about enough. And even Josh Allen, you know, you
[7:52] Speaker 3: could you could blump him in there. But Lamar is
[7:54] Speaker 3: obviously looked at as like, oh, he's a cheat code
[7:56] Speaker 3: in fantasy because he runs the ball so well, right,
[7:59] Speaker 3: Like that's that's obviously a great floor and upside play.
[8:03] Speaker 3: But Lamar Jackson has consistently beaten touchdown rate odds and
[8:08] Speaker 3: has been a really efficient thrower in terms of what
[8:11] Speaker 3: we look for from a fantasy football perspective, which is,
[8:14] Speaker 3: you know, being able to throw for touchdowns and not
[8:16] Speaker 3: just run for them, right, And so I think that
[8:18] Speaker 3: we have to keep that in mind with like a
[8:19] Speaker 3: Melik Willis. Is that yes, if you look at twenty
[8:22] Speaker 3: seven quarterback seasons since twenty eleven where they had seven
[8:26] Speaker 3: or more PPR points per game or you don't say PPR,
[8:29] Speaker 3: you know they're not catching many passes, but points per.
[8:32] Speaker 1: Game via rushing.
[8:33] Speaker 3: Only four of those twenty seven seasons ranked outside the
[8:36] Speaker 3: top ten in fantasy scoring at quarterback in points per game.
[8:40] Speaker 3: So you have twenty seven quarterback seasons where the quarterback
[8:43] Speaker 3: had seven or more points per game via rushing. Malik
[8:46] Speaker 3: Willis has been an eight and a half throughout his
[8:48] Speaker 3: brief you know, six starts. Only four of those twenty
[8:51] Speaker 3: seven have ranked outside the top ten in points per game,
[8:53] Speaker 3: which is crazy. But if you look at the players
[8:56] Speaker 3: who didn't, it's like the the Anthony Richardson type right
[8:59] Speaker 3: where where they can get it done on the ground,
[9:02] Speaker 3: but their passing is very questionable. That's a very real
[9:05] Speaker 3: outcome for Malik Willis, and I understand that in drafting
[9:07] Speaker 3: him and taking that on, but I think his ADP
[9:10] Speaker 3: is still fairly low given where these quarterbacks are going
[9:13] Speaker 3: right now. And then on top of that, the nice
[9:16] Speaker 3: part on DraftKings with having those two extra rounds, it's
[9:19] Speaker 3: a lot easier to make three quarterback builds. And so
[9:22] Speaker 3: if you're making a three QB build, you can get
[9:24] Speaker 3: Malik Willis on top of maybe you know two guys
[9:28] Speaker 3: that you get in around nine to ten, or Malik
[9:30] Speaker 3: Willis with a CJ. Stroud and then like a Jalen
[9:32] Speaker 3: Hurts or something like that, and all of a sudden
[9:35] Speaker 3: you have a pretty good trio where there is a
[9:36] Speaker 3: lot of that upside that you can capture with Malik
[9:39] Speaker 3: Willis's legs. So because of all of that, I am
[9:42] Speaker 3: drafting a lot of Malik Willis. I don't know where
[9:44] Speaker 3: this we'll finish and stand. But he's also one of
[9:47] Speaker 3: those guys where if you miss out on that quarterback run,
[9:49] Speaker 3: he's sitting there very often as an easy player to get.
[9:52] Speaker 2: And Malliku Wills won't be affected as much by that
[9:55] Speaker 2: market pressure because he is the first person of the
[9:58] Speaker 2: stack that's going off the board in round eleven. Right
[10:01] Speaker 2: the receivers, Washington going off in fourteen, then Dulsach in fifteen,
[10:05] Speaker 2: and the rest of the guys are in the final
[10:07] Speaker 2: rounds of the drafts, So there aren't going to be
[10:10] Speaker 2: players likely there aren't going to be players who have
[10:12] Speaker 2: drafted receivers on Miami and then need to connect the
[10:16] Speaker 2: dot with that stack that are that are pushing that
[10:18] Speaker 2: pressure up. So he should just chill in that round
[10:21] Speaker 2: eleven range. What I was going to ask you is,
[10:23] Speaker 2: we've seen Greg Dulsich move. He's up two rounds since
[10:26] Speaker 2: we started potting, and we've we've spoken about him. Are
[10:29] Speaker 2: there any witch of if any of these Miami receivers
[10:32] Speaker 2: are you throwing darts at to complete the stack or
[10:35] Speaker 2: is it just Dulsag right now?
[10:37] Speaker 4: No?
[10:37] Speaker 1: I mean, like I've thrown random darts at other guys.
[10:41] Speaker 3: I started coming in pretty hot with Jalen Tolbert at
[10:44] Speaker 3: the beginning of the of the you know, the summer.
[10:48] Speaker 3: I haven't really been doing that as frequently because I
[10:49] Speaker 3: actually think there's a chance that they just don't want
[10:51] Speaker 3: to use him and maybe even like cut him if
[10:53] Speaker 3: they just really like the depth that they have. I mean,
[10:55] Speaker 3: there's a lot of just random directions that you can
[10:57] Speaker 3: go in. You know, Kevin Coleman.
[10:58] Speaker 1: Even there's Slot, their rookie slot guy who.
[11:00] Speaker 3: The ZA model actually liked a decent bit versus where
[11:03] Speaker 3: the consensus had him.
[11:05] Speaker 1: But you know, he's kind of limited just as a
[11:07] Speaker 1: slot player.
[11:07] Speaker 3: I think he's only going to be a slot player
[11:09] Speaker 3: at the NFL level, you know, you could. I haven't
[11:11] Speaker 3: really drafted much Caleb Douglas just because I'm not that
[11:14] Speaker 3: big of a fan of his talent in that profile.
[11:17] Speaker 3: So it's really just sprinkling in the wide receivers. I
[11:19] Speaker 3: think Dolsich is the easy one to go to. I
[11:21] Speaker 3: haven't drafted a ton of Malik Washington either, just because
[11:24] Speaker 3: I think the market it's like odd that the market
[11:26] Speaker 3: is so bullish on him being like the guy when
[11:29] Speaker 3: the opportunity cost in getting him is actually not insignificant.
[11:32] Speaker 3: I mean, it's not significant, you know, in the grand scheme,
[11:35] Speaker 3: but it's not insignificant when you're talking about Malik freaking Washington,
[11:38] Speaker 3: who hasn't really done anything since he entered the NFL. Right,
[11:41] Speaker 3: So you know, I understand why he would be the
[11:44] Speaker 3: top wide receiver drafted, you know, from Miami, but I
[11:47] Speaker 3: don't understand why it would be such a massive gap
[11:50] Speaker 3: as it is right now, which right now it's like
[11:51] Speaker 3: five or six rounds, you know, in those in those
[11:53] Speaker 3: later parts of the drafts.
[11:54] Speaker 1: So and I think you can go naked Malik Willis if.
[11:57] Speaker 3: You want to right where he I mean, I just
[12:00] Speaker 3: showed you his point per game rushing numbers, like he's
[12:03] Speaker 3: very capable of just scoring a lot of points and
[12:06] Speaker 3: maybe not bringing along one of the wide receivers or
[12:09] Speaker 3: even Greg Dolcich with them.
[12:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm Malik Washington up fourteen spots since we've started
[12:14] Speaker 2: this summer. People in love with the presumed I guess
[12:18] Speaker 2: you are one. But yeah, I mean there's.
[12:20] Speaker 3: Been some there's been some positive coach speak and talk
[12:23] Speaker 3: about Malik Washington, but I don't know. To me, I
[12:26] Speaker 3: don't want to like get so bullish on a player
[12:30] Speaker 3: that just really hasn't proven anything. I didn't mind him
[12:32] Speaker 3: as a prospect. I think he's a good yat guy.
[12:34] Speaker 3: I don't think that he's like the most traditional, you know,
[12:37] Speaker 3: perimeter wide receiver or X guy that we're gonna rely
[12:40] Speaker 3: on or that can find a really consistent place in
[12:43] Speaker 3: that offense. So he just like he's fine, but I'm
[12:46] Speaker 3: not going to be overweight.
[12:48] Speaker 2: Let's move to another quarterback, another mobile fella up in Philadelphia,
[12:52] Speaker 2: Fly Eagles, Fly Galen Hurts.
[12:54] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[12:54] Speaker 3: I love where Jalen Hurts goes in these drafts. I
[12:57] Speaker 3: think he's just really undervalued. You can even go naked
[12:59] Speaker 3: and not get him on Smith, especially McKay lemon falling
[13:02] Speaker 3: recently in some of these drafts, Like it's you can
[13:05] Speaker 3: even you know, stack him if you get Hurts. You know,
[13:08] Speaker 3: there's Dallas Goddard, there's Dantavian Wix at the end of
[13:10] Speaker 3: drafts that you can you can go with. Obviously Eli Stowers.
[13:13] Speaker 3: So I like Hurts from the standpoint of, like you
[13:17] Speaker 3: can be flexible, you don't absolutely need to and obviously,
[13:19] Speaker 3: like I had a team last night that I drafted,
[13:21] Speaker 3: and I drafted DeVante Smith and then I got Jalen Hurts,
[13:24] Speaker 3: So I just got the go to stack.
[13:26] Speaker 1: But I don't think you have to have DeVante Smith.
[13:28] Speaker 1: Over the last.
[13:28] Speaker 3: Five years as starter, Jalen Hurts has averaged twenty or
[13:32] Speaker 3: more points per game in all but one season. That
[13:34] Speaker 3: was last year with Kevin Batulo, where he was almost
[13:38] Speaker 3: at nineteen points per game. Which is still not that bad.
[13:40] Speaker 3: That's standard scoring, that's not even drafting scoring. He's still
[13:43] Speaker 3: ranked eighth last year though in points per game like
[13:45] Speaker 3: he still wasn't like horrific last year as a fantasy quarterback.
[13:50] Speaker 3: You don't have Aj Brown anymore, I get it, but
[13:51] Speaker 3: you get mkay Lemon, you have Dantavian Wicks, you have
[13:54] Speaker 3: Eli Stowers, you have a new offensive coordinator.
[13:56] Speaker 1: And then the other thing to point out is what
[13:57] Speaker 1: I talked about on the.
[13:58] Speaker 3: Market Score episode yesterday, which is that market score loves
[14:02] Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts like right now. So market score, if you
[14:05] Speaker 3: guys don't know, market score is a metric that Brandon
[14:07] Speaker 3: Godola and I created where we're looking at average draft
[14:10] Speaker 3: position and we're looking at other inputs from the previous
[14:12] Speaker 3: season to basically give a score of zero to one
[14:14] Speaker 3: hundred for a player, and then you can essentially rank
[14:18] Speaker 3: players that way if you want to, just based on
[14:19] Speaker 3: their overall scores. And Jalen Hurts right now is number
[14:22] Speaker 3: two in markets He's right above barely above Lamar Jackson,
[14:26] Speaker 3: but he's above Lamar Jackson. It's not how I'm ranking guys,
[14:29] Speaker 3: but it is a additional context as to you know,
[14:33] Speaker 3: understanding player evaluation and how we should feel about certain players.
[14:36] Speaker 3: So market Score really likes Jalen Hurts, which means it's
[14:40] Speaker 3: taking ADP. It's looking at all these predictive metrics around
[14:43] Speaker 3: ADP to help predict how well this player is going
[14:45] Speaker 3: to perform this year, and it's saying Jalen Hurts is
[14:48] Speaker 3: a value right now. So I think he's just undervalued.
[14:51] Speaker 3: It's crazy seeing some of these plays, like Dak Prescott
[14:54] Speaker 3: went above him in the draft I did yesterday, which
[14:58] Speaker 3: I get from the standpoint of step And that's why
[15:01] Speaker 3: that's happening. Because you have multiple inputs in the early
[15:04] Speaker 3: rounds with George Pickens and Cedee Lamb at either end
[15:07] Speaker 3: of the draft too, which which makes it even more
[15:09] Speaker 3: of like this this game of Chicken with those two teams,
[15:12] Speaker 3: because the CD Lamb manager might even reach for Dak
[15:15] Speaker 3: in round six, right because like at the beginning of
[15:17] Speaker 3: round six with Cede Lamb going at the end of
[15:20] Speaker 3: round one. But then if he doesn't or if that
[15:23] Speaker 3: drafter doesn't, then you get into that six seven turn
[15:26] Speaker 3: and the George Pickens manager sitting there and they're saying.
[15:29] Speaker 1: I gotta get Dak now. Because he's not gonna fall.
[15:31] Speaker 3: To the eighth right, So all that's doing is creating
[15:34] Speaker 3: Dak Prescott's ADP to be inflated. Right, And it's nothing
[15:38] Speaker 3: against Dak, He's fine, but Jalen Hurts objectively as a
[15:41] Speaker 3: higher ceiling than Dak Prescott, Like, objectively, right, he's objectively
[15:45] Speaker 3: a better fantasy asset than Dak Prescott is. So from
[15:49] Speaker 3: that perspective, this is what we were talking about. I mean,
[15:51] Speaker 3: we talked about it for like a year and a half.
[15:53] Speaker 3: Now it feels like, but this is why quarterback ADP
[15:57] Speaker 3: can get so funky and weird and best ball, and
[16:00] Speaker 3: it's so different in season long, where we're gonna sit
[16:03] Speaker 3: here and be like, yeah, we're gonna draft Jalen Hurts.
[16:05] Speaker 3: We'ren't even gonna care about stacking our in our home
[16:08] Speaker 3: leagues and stuff. But you know, hopefully, well hopefully for
[16:11] Speaker 3: our benefit, the best ball ADP transfers over to season long,
[16:16] Speaker 3: because then we'll be able to get some of these
[16:18] Speaker 3: quarterback values. But I don't think that's going to happen
[16:20] Speaker 3: in the same way. So this is a really good
[16:21] Speaker 3: way to get exposure to some of these early round guys.
[16:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, the gravity of stacking. Just it's a thing, right
[16:26] Speaker 2: these quarterbacks, because of the selections that have been made previously,
[16:30] Speaker 2: they get pulled into that direction. And like you said,
[16:32] Speaker 2: it's very interesting when there's two pieces. We see this
[16:35] Speaker 2: with Cincinnati as well, where there's two guys competing for
[16:40] Speaker 2: fulfilling that stack later on, which creates this interesting pressure
[16:44] Speaker 2: as to when that player comes off the board. Let's
[16:46] Speaker 2: do the running back, Let's go to Denver, Let's go
[16:49] Speaker 2: to Jonah Coleman.
[16:51] Speaker 3: Yeah, I just feel like I'm kind of on an
[16:53] Speaker 3: island with Jonah Coleman at this point because I think
[16:55] Speaker 3: his ADP has dropped since since the draft, so since
[16:58] Speaker 3: since the Millie opened, And I feel like I said,
[17:01] Speaker 3: I feel like I'm kind of on an island because
[17:03] Speaker 3: I see a lot of people who are JK.
[17:05] Speaker 1: Dobbins Bros. And RJ. Harvey Bros. But there's not many
[17:08] Speaker 1: Jonah Coleman bros.
[17:09] Speaker 3: And it's not to say that I think Coleman's amazing
[17:11] Speaker 3: and that you know, I'm purely on team Coleman. I've
[17:15] Speaker 3: sprinkled in more RJ. Harvey, but I will say I'm
[17:17] Speaker 3: not drafting much JK.
[17:18] Speaker 1: Dobbins.
[17:19] Speaker 3: I just don't get the allure, especially on draftings where
[17:22] Speaker 3: it's full PPR.
[17:23] Speaker 1: I don't get the allure of JK.
[17:25] Speaker 3: Dobbins that much when you know he's had injury history,
[17:29] Speaker 3: when you know that Jonah Coleman is stepping in, I
[17:32] Speaker 3: think they drafted Coleman.
[17:33] Speaker 1: I've said this all along.
[17:34] Speaker 3: I think they drafted Coleman because he can kind of
[17:36] Speaker 3: back up both players in this backfield. Like he's a
[17:39] Speaker 3: do it all back who's just good enough at pass catcher.
[17:43] Speaker 3: He's good enough in pass protection, he's good enough at
[17:45] Speaker 3: the early down stuff in between the tackles, and he's
[17:48] Speaker 3: big and he can play the goal line role too.
[17:50] Speaker 3: So like he's good enough at all of these things
[17:53] Speaker 3: that number one, he can back those guys up. But
[17:56] Speaker 3: number two, I also think there's a real genuine possibility
[17:59] Speaker 3: that he just carves out a role in the Denver
[18:01] Speaker 3: backfield that he Joonah Coleman sees some sort of backfield
[18:06] Speaker 3: share with those guys being healthy.
[18:08] Speaker 1: RJ. Harvey He's a legit threat as a pass catcher.
[18:11] Speaker 3: But not so much as a rusher, just based on
[18:13] Speaker 3: what we saw last year with his bottom tiered rushing
[18:16] Speaker 3: yards over expected per rush JK. Dobbins, Like I said,
[18:19] Speaker 3: four percent target share last year for JK. Dobbins, and
[18:21] Speaker 3: there's durability concerns. So Coleman being a do it all back,
[18:25] Speaker 3: it's a good offense that you're attaching him to.
[18:27] Speaker 1: I just think he's a.
[18:27] Speaker 3: Good pick right now, and I'm getting him in a
[18:29] Speaker 3: round fifteen consistently now.
[18:31] Speaker 1: And I thought he was gonna rise.
[18:33] Speaker 3: Honestly, I thought getting him in around fourteen after the
[18:36] Speaker 3: draft was I thought he would get to like round twelve,
[18:39] Speaker 3: and he just hasn't. There's been some positive favorable reports
[18:43] Speaker 3: with him too, which is another reason why I'm surprised
[18:45] Speaker 3: there hasn't been that much moving with Jonah Coleman. I'm
[18:47] Speaker 3: sure people in the comments are gonna give me a
[18:49] Speaker 3: reason as to why this is.
[18:50] Speaker 1: Happening and why I'm a moron.
[18:51] Speaker 3: But I do think that that there's a lot of
[18:53] Speaker 3: outs for Jonah Coleman to be a useful piece in
[18:56] Speaker 3: Best Ball this year.
[18:58] Speaker 2: Yeah. Sometimes we've seen this time in time Again, Sometimes
[19:01] Speaker 2: just going with the cheapest option in an ambiguous situation
[19:05] Speaker 2: oftentimes is a pretty solid strategy, right You're getting the
[19:10] Speaker 2: cost off, and as we see throughout the summer, Which
[19:15] Speaker 2: of these Denver running backs could benefit the most from
[19:19] Speaker 2: some sort of buzz or news or injury in the summer.
[19:23] Speaker 2: It's most likely Jonah Coleman, because like, how high could R. J.
[19:26] Speaker 2: Harvey and JK. Gobbins reasonably go. I don't think it
[19:29] Speaker 2: could be much higher than where they're going already.
[19:32] Speaker 4: R J.
[19:32] Speaker 3: Harvey's dealing with an injury too, Like there's that's that's
[19:35] Speaker 3: going on, and like, like I do think that we're
[19:38] Speaker 3: doing ourselves a disservice when we lump together day three
[19:42] Speaker 3: picks and day three draft capital as all the same
[19:44] Speaker 3: because like he was like top one ten Jonah Coleman,
[19:48] Speaker 3: he was an early fourth round pick. That is not
[19:51] Speaker 3: that much different than a third round pick from a
[19:54] Speaker 3: draft capital and an investment standpoint, and for whatever reason,
[19:57] Speaker 3: like people, you know, I think that part of it
[19:59] Speaker 3: is people like me, and it's our faults because when
[20:02] Speaker 3: we communicate these ideas, we lump these guys together and say,
[20:05] Speaker 3: Alwa's a Day three pick, et cetera, et cetera.
[20:07] Speaker 1: But it's a gradient. It's the same way that I
[20:09] Speaker 1: view average draft.
[20:10] Speaker 3: Position and like all the threshold stuff that I work
[20:12] Speaker 3: on on the draft guide where you know, I bucket
[20:14] Speaker 3: these players up into top eighteen wide receivers and then
[20:16] Speaker 3: you know wide receiver nineteen to forty two to represent
[20:19] Speaker 3: the middle rounds in each of those groups. There's different
[20:21] Speaker 3: trends that we look for to see if a player
[20:24] Speaker 3: is gonna bust or if they're gonna break out. Realistically, though,
[20:27] Speaker 3: if you're at the low end of you, if you're
[20:30] Speaker 3: wide receiver eighteen, if you're like Tedoro McMillan right now,
[20:33] Speaker 3: your trends, yes, you might get bucketed in with the
[20:36] Speaker 3: top eighteen guys. The trends in the next group matter
[20:39] Speaker 3: just as much as the one in that group, right,
[20:41] Speaker 3: Like it's it's similar with the with draft capital and
[20:45] Speaker 3: not having these harsh cutoffs, because a sixth round running
[20:48] Speaker 3: back is not the same at all as a one
[20:50] Speaker 3: hundred and tenth or one hundred and eighth or whatever
[20:52] Speaker 3: Jonah Coleman was overall running back. Jonah Coleman's ADP or
[20:56] Speaker 3: draft capital is not that far off from like what
[20:59] Speaker 3: Caleb Johnson was last year. Now I know he busted,
[21:02] Speaker 3: of course, but like it's it's not as bad as
[21:05] Speaker 3: draft capital as you think. And like base Jall Tuton
[21:08] Speaker 3: was was a fourth rounder last year, right, and people
[21:10] Speaker 3: were looking at him a little bit more favorably than
[21:12] Speaker 3: they're looking at Jodah Coleman. So I actually think that
[21:16] Speaker 3: like the fourth round for running backs in today's game
[21:19] Speaker 3: is sort of like what it was in the third round,
[21:21] Speaker 3: maybe like five or six years ago.
[21:24] Speaker 2: Moving out west a little bit further in my backyard
[21:28] Speaker 2: training in Costa Mesa, it's Keaton Mitchell of the Los
[21:31] Speaker 2: Angeles Charters.
[21:33] Speaker 3: This is not an anti Amarion Hampton stance. I like Hampton.
[21:37] Speaker 3: This is just a pro Keaton Mitchell pro Chargers situation stance.
[21:43] Speaker 3: I love the Chargers offense this year. I don't care
[21:45] Speaker 3: how chocky that is. I don't care if everyone's backing them,
[21:48] Speaker 3: they should be good offensively this year. Quintin Johnson has
[21:51] Speaker 3: seen like a crip by the way, as in the side,
[21:54] Speaker 3: Quentin Johnson saw like a two round rise in ADP
[21:56] Speaker 3: out of nowhere the last like two weeks or week
[21:59] Speaker 3: and a half. I love drafting the Chargers offense have
[22:02] Speaker 3: a lot of everybody. Quentin Johnston, like I said, he's
[22:04] Speaker 3: a little bit high right now, so I haven't been
[22:05] Speaker 3: getting as much as him, But I'm still drafting him.
[22:07] Speaker 1: But with Keaton Mitchell, I just.
[22:09] Speaker 3: Think he's like the perfect best ball guy, where yes,
[22:13] Speaker 3: I don't like I do think that it being a
[22:14] Speaker 3: full PPR platform, you know, I don't think he's gonna
[22:17] Speaker 3: catch a ton of passes because it's never really been
[22:18] Speaker 3: his game necessarily. But at the same time, Mike McDaniel
[22:22] Speaker 3: with speed is just check mark right like we've seen
[22:26] Speaker 3: it with Devon Chen. Devon Ahen's obviously very good, and
[22:29] Speaker 3: he's a much more prolific runner and rusher than Keaton
[22:32] Speaker 3: Mitchell has been. Even if you look back at you know,
[22:35] Speaker 3: collegiate numbers and such, I do think that Mitchell brings
[22:37] Speaker 3: that big playability you get Slater and all back on
[22:40] Speaker 3: the offensive line. I think the run game is gonna
[22:42] Speaker 3: be a lot better than it was last year just
[22:44] Speaker 3: based on that, and he's gonna have some role on
[22:46] Speaker 3: that team, like there's gonna be some usage for Keithon Mitchell,
[22:48] Speaker 3: and he has the big playability because of that speed.
[22:51] Speaker 1: So you will get spiked weeks from Keaton.
[22:53] Speaker 3: Mitchell and best ball, and that's part of the reason
[22:54] Speaker 3: why I've been drafting him as much as I have.
[22:56] Speaker 1: I think, right now he's my highest roster running back.
[22:59] Speaker 2: The arrow is pointing out up right now in terms
[23:01] Speaker 2: of ADP for every single man, almost every single member
[23:05] Speaker 2: of the Los Angeles Chargers. Hampton's up two spots, lads
[23:08] Speaker 2: up two spots, like you said, Quentin Johnson's up seventeen
[23:11] Speaker 2: and a half spots since we started doing this, Heaton
[23:14] Speaker 2: Mitchell's up nine, Trey Harris is up nineteen point four.
[23:17] Speaker 2: I think people are starting this is the meme of
[23:20] Speaker 2: the dumb guy and the genius who have the obvious
[23:23] Speaker 2: thought of, hey, maybe Mike McDaniel's gonna be awesome, and
[23:26] Speaker 2: the guy in the middle like, oh, the praise is
[23:28] Speaker 2: too much, we can't do it. But like, Mike McDaniel's
[23:30] Speaker 2: just that guy, like he's gonna have a very strong
[23:33] Speaker 2: impact on this offense.
[23:34] Speaker 3: I've also had this thought about the current landscape of
[23:37] Speaker 3: fantasy football, where I believe that this spike wouldn't have
[23:43] Speaker 3: been happening until August five or six, seven years ago,
[23:47] Speaker 3: right within the landscape, not necessarily the best ball landscape,
[23:50] Speaker 3: but like just the fantasy landscape in general.
[23:52] Speaker 1: Like we were, there was a delay.
[23:53] Speaker 3: There was like a period of time where you could
[23:56] Speaker 3: get these players in these obviously upgraded situations a lot
[24:00] Speaker 3: cheaper than what's happening right now. And we've talked about
[24:02] Speaker 3: this plenty, you know, over the last couple of weeks
[24:04] Speaker 3: of just like I think the market's sharper in the
[24:06] Speaker 3: way they're looking at running backs in general. You know,
[24:08] Speaker 3: like the fact that Trayvon Henderson and Ramandre Stevenson, which
[24:11] Speaker 3: by the way, honorable mentions for running back. Ramondre Stevenson
[24:14] Speaker 3: and Chase Brown are two guys that I've I've drafted
[24:16] Speaker 3: a decent amount of, but Ramondre Stevenson going, you know,
[24:20] Speaker 3: two rounds ish after Traveon Henderson at this point, maybe
[24:23] Speaker 3: round and a half depending on some drafts, but about
[24:26] Speaker 3: two rounds after Traveon Henderson.
[24:28] Speaker 1: It's crazy because most years.
[24:30] Speaker 3: I would just be like, yeah, I get Trayvon Henderson,
[24:32] Speaker 3: He's the ascending player, you know, year two guy, whatever.
[24:36] Speaker 1: But now I'm getting Ramondre Stevenson.
[24:37] Speaker 3: Because I'm sitting here, I'm like, oh, the market's kind
[24:39] Speaker 3: of like downplaying what happened in the playoffs last year
[24:43] Speaker 3: and what the situation looks like in New England, et cetera,
[24:46] Speaker 3: et cetera. And it almost feels just completely backwards right
[24:49] Speaker 3: because like year two running backs are the backs that
[24:51] Speaker 3: we generally should be going after. It's it's just not
[24:53] Speaker 3: as clear as clean and clear cut. I do think though,
[24:57] Speaker 3: that we're working with sharper drafters who are playing ball
[25:00] Speaker 3: in May and June, like we are sick individuals. If
[25:03] Speaker 3: you're listening to this right now, you're a sick individual,
[25:06] Speaker 3: and you know naturally you're going to be more in
[25:09] Speaker 3: tune with what we should be doing from a trend standpoint.
[25:12] Speaker 3: I think once season long draft pickup and stuff, we're
[25:15] Speaker 3: going to see a different kind of situation with Ramandre
[25:17] Speaker 3: and Trevion.
[25:18] Speaker 2: Nobody is anti sweating. Ramandre touches more than people playing
[25:22] Speaker 2: best ball in June. I can promise see that they're
[25:25] Speaker 2: graping every time he touches the ball. Moving through receiver,
[25:28] Speaker 2: a guy we've discussed a lot. He's got a new
[25:31] Speaker 2: coordinator in mister David Bling. Blang Blou. It is scary
[25:35] Speaker 2: Terry McLaurin with the Commanders.
[25:37] Speaker 3: I just think that this offense could very much run
[25:40] Speaker 3: through Terry McLaurin. I mean, Blao has said that himself
[25:44] Speaker 3: multiple times, and there's been a lot of favorable reports
[25:46] Speaker 3: about what he's trying to do with the offense.
[25:48] Speaker 1: I also just don't think that Terry McLaurin is dust.
[25:51] Speaker 3: I mean, he saw his best yards per out run
[25:52] Speaker 3: of his career last year at two point two two,
[25:55] Speaker 3: his best targets per out run rate at twenty three percent,
[25:58] Speaker 3: his best first downs per route run rate which is
[26:00] Speaker 3: thirteen percent. Historically, players with that kind of combination do
[26:04] Speaker 3: very very well against ADP expectation. So McLaurin I think
[26:08] Speaker 3: you could draft realistically, just given the landscape right now
[26:11] Speaker 3: and how things have shifted in that like third to
[26:13] Speaker 3: fourth round area. I don't have a problem if you
[26:16] Speaker 3: want to take him in the at the three four turn,
[26:18] Speaker 3: just because that's when that like wide receiver tier starts
[26:21] Speaker 3: for me, where there's just a lot of upside type players.
[26:24] Speaker 3: I think McLaurin belongs in that tier. You don't have
[26:27] Speaker 3: to take them there because if you're doing a lot
[26:28] Speaker 3: of drafts. I mean, I've gotten him at the at
[26:30] Speaker 3: the four or five turn plenty. But I think McLaurin
[26:32] Speaker 3: is set up to have a very very good year.
[26:34] Speaker 2: Speaking of stacking, it's so funny his ADP's forty five
[26:37] Speaker 2: Jaden McDaniels is a very nice sixty nine exactly twenty
[26:41] Speaker 2: four spots after him. I wonder why it's exactly Yeah.
[26:45] Speaker 3: I mean, look, it's an easy stack to like you
[26:48] Speaker 3: can usually get Jayden Daniels if you get Terry McLaurin
[26:51] Speaker 3: because the person, you know, the other teams are not
[26:52] Speaker 3: looking at Jayden Daniels.
[26:53] Speaker 1: If they don't have ter McLaurin, and.
[26:56] Speaker 2: We might even get a discount. There's a world I'm
[26:58] Speaker 2: happy getting him at ADP. Now there's a world where
[27:00] Speaker 2: this Ayuk thing does come to fruition and we might
[27:03] Speaker 2: even get a slight discount on on Terry McLaurin because
[27:07] Speaker 2: people are worried about target distribution.
[27:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's a very real possibility. I've actually
[27:11] Speaker 3: drafted a lot of AYUK teams with McLaurin and with
[27:17] Speaker 3: Jade Daniels, and like, I think Ayuk is actually not
[27:20] Speaker 3: a bad pick right now. We've kind of talked about that,
[27:22] Speaker 3: you know, with the guests and stuff. But you know,
[27:25] Speaker 3: if and when he signs, his ADP is going to
[27:27] Speaker 3: go up. Now he hasn't played in a while, so
[27:30] Speaker 3: who knows what that's going to look like. I'm not
[27:31] Speaker 3: having like you know, crazy crazy aspirations about what Brandon
[27:34] Speaker 3: and Ayuk might be able to do after coming off the
[27:36] Speaker 3: couch and you know, doing the Instagram thing that he's
[27:38] Speaker 3: been doing over the last six months. But I do
[27:41] Speaker 3: think that, like, if you're looking at like just expected
[27:43] Speaker 3: value and cost benefit eighteenth nineteenth round pick, I think
[27:46] Speaker 3: it's fine to go that direction.
[27:48] Speaker 2: Back on the Bolts, you could probably make this one
[27:50] Speaker 2: short Trey Harris as your others.
[27:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, well, look, I'm fine with lad, I'm fine with QJ.
[27:55] Speaker 3: Even even though qj's ADP is skyrocketed. I think that
[27:58] Speaker 3: might settle a little bit. But this is just a
[28:00] Speaker 3: cheap play in an offense that I think is gonna
[28:03] Speaker 3: be really good. Reports are saying that there's gonna be
[28:06] Speaker 3: a bigger role for Trey Harris. I mean, I think
[28:07] Speaker 3: he's the wide receiver three on that team, and so
[28:09] Speaker 3: there's some role for him to just be used and
[28:12] Speaker 3: have you know.
[28:13] Speaker 1: Sixty targets or something this year.
[28:15] Speaker 3: But then there's also the upside of you know, him
[28:18] Speaker 3: being a year two breakout of QJ or Ladd going
[28:21] Speaker 3: down to injury and then him being used more.
[28:23] Speaker 1: There's multiple injury outs for him, and it's just a
[28:25] Speaker 1: good offense.
[28:26] Speaker 3: So you know, part of this is also like I'm
[28:28] Speaker 3: getting so many chargers that he's just a stacking partner,
[28:31] Speaker 3: right So I have a lot of Trey Harris right now.
[28:33] Speaker 3: As a result of all.
[28:34] Speaker 2: That moving the tight end, We've got a little Homer
[28:38] Speaker 2: jj here he goes back to the berg Ceesians people,
[28:42] Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, he's clicking a lot of
[28:44] Speaker 2: Pat Fryerman.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[28:46] Speaker 3: By the way, two honorable mentions that wide receiver Davante Smith.
[28:49] Speaker 3: A lot of DeVante Smith right now. That was pre
[28:52] Speaker 3: boosted ADP before the aj Brown stuff happened. I was
[28:54] Speaker 3: getting a lot of them, and then I still think
[28:56] Speaker 3: Ricky Piersall is a good pick based on his previous
[28:58] Speaker 3: season peripherals. I think he and play the number two
[29:01] Speaker 3: wide receiver role. You know, market score doesn't love Mike
[29:05] Speaker 3: Evans right now.
[29:06] Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not like heavily drafting Evans.
[29:09] Speaker 3: I'm not, you know, not drafting him, but I've had
[29:11] Speaker 3: a hard time clicking Mike Evans' name just because of
[29:13] Speaker 3: the running backs and wide receivers that go around him.
[29:15] Speaker 1: So Ricky Piersall, I think is an interesting click.
[29:17] Speaker 3: But yes, Pat Fryermouth underutilized in my opinion, in that
[29:21] Speaker 3: Arthur Smith rotation that he had at tight end, you know,
[29:24] Speaker 3: with the John new and Darnell Washington stuff. He's there's
[29:27] Speaker 3: a new offense might feature him a little bit more,
[29:30] Speaker 3: and he's still just twenty seven years old and you're
[29:31] Speaker 3: getting him in like the nineteenth round of these drafts.
[29:34] Speaker 3: So again, part of this too is that I'm attaching
[29:37] Speaker 3: him to like a late prayer stack with Aaron Rodgers,
[29:40] Speaker 3: who I think Aaron Rodgers from a from a fantasy
[29:43] Speaker 3: perspective is pretty undervalued right now. To me, there's truly
[29:46] Speaker 3: not really a reason that Aaron Rodgers should be going
[29:50] Speaker 3: after Bryce Young, let alone two or three rounds after
[29:53] Speaker 3: Bryce Young in a lot of cases, right because like
[29:55] Speaker 3: a lot of times people get their quarterbacks and they're
[29:57] Speaker 3: at two or three and they don't really force the
[29:59] Speaker 3: issue with some like the Genos of the World. And
[30:01] Speaker 3: obviously there's stuff going on off the field now with Geno,
[30:03] Speaker 3: But like the Genos of the World or Aaron Rodgers
[30:06] Speaker 3: or these guys who we think are gonna play for
[30:08] Speaker 3: the majority of the season, I think Rogers is gonna
[30:11] Speaker 3: be the starter for this team throughout the year, and
[30:14] Speaker 3: especially because we know this is last season or supposedly
[30:17] Speaker 3: his last season, it just seems like they're not gonna
[30:20] Speaker 3: just bench him at the end of the year, you know,
[30:22] Speaker 3: like and the Steelers should probably be like at least
[30:25] Speaker 3: semi competitive, at least you know, in that like eight
[30:27] Speaker 3: to ten win range potentially. So as a result of that, like,
[30:31] Speaker 3: I think Rogers is just kind of undervalued, And so
[30:33] Speaker 3: I've been attaching Pat Fryarmouth to him because I'm.
[30:36] Speaker 1: Not getting up I'm not definitely not getting a lot.
[30:37] Speaker 3: Of Dk Metcalf and I'm getting some Michael Pittman, but
[30:40] Speaker 3: not enough to like really force the issue. So Pat
[30:43] Speaker 3: Fryarmuth is kind of my and I get some German
[30:45] Speaker 3: Bernard too, but Pat Fryarmouth is kind of like the
[30:47] Speaker 3: easy late stack if I'm if I'm missing out on
[30:50] Speaker 3: that on that third stack or even second stack in
[30:53] Speaker 3: some cases.
[30:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, And when in instances where I'm not going elite
[30:58] Speaker 2: tight end, it's a great click in the end of
[31:00] Speaker 2: the drafts when I just want to fill my tight
[31:02] Speaker 2: endroom with guys that are going to be on the field.
[31:04] Speaker 2: Because we know Darnold Washington has his role on the team.
[31:07] Speaker 2: He's not going out there and running a bunch of routes.
[31:09] Speaker 5: Right.
[31:10] Speaker 2: This is this is Pat Firenmouth show at the tight
[31:12] Speaker 2: end position in Pittsburgh. Your other tight end speaking of
[31:16] Speaker 2: a crowded tight end room, but a very explosive young
[31:20] Speaker 2: player in Terrence fergus.
[31:22] Speaker 3: Look, I'm kind of a Terrence Ferguson Truther. I understand
[31:25] Speaker 3: that the Zap model liked him. I think he's good.
[31:29] Speaker 3: You know, he gave us some production last year down
[31:31] Speaker 3: the stretch. We know the Rams are going to be
[31:33] Speaker 3: heavy with their twelve and thirteen personnel usage, so he
[31:36] Speaker 3: should be on the field plenty. Now he's gonna be
[31:39] Speaker 3: competing with other tight ends for sure, Colby Parkinson being
[31:43] Speaker 3: sort of like the top one that and I'm trying
[31:45] Speaker 3: my best to sprinkle in Colby Parkinson and not just
[31:49] Speaker 3: like he's so enamored with.
[31:51] Speaker 2: I like having a take this is this is one
[31:53] Speaker 2: of the spots in the draft door. I just like
[31:54] Speaker 2: having a take like, I don't think this is a
[31:57] Speaker 2: part where you need to be balanced right when we're
[31:59] Speaker 2: in the eighth I think you can kind of here's
[32:01] Speaker 2: the thing.
[32:02] Speaker 1: But I don't want to.
[32:03] Speaker 3: I don't want to walk away from the Millie this
[32:04] Speaker 3: year and have eighteen percent Terrence Ferguson in.
[32:06] Speaker 1: One person Colby Parkinson.
[32:09] Speaker 2: That just seems like.
[32:10] Speaker 1: Like not playing you know, the ev game very well.
[32:13] Speaker 3: Right, where Whereas could could I walk away with thirteen
[32:15] Speaker 3: percent Terrence Ferguson in four percent Kobe Parkinson?
[32:18] Speaker 5: Sure?
[32:19] Speaker 1: Like, I think that's a little.
[32:19] Speaker 3: Bit more reasonable, right, And so I am getting some
[32:22] Speaker 3: coolby Parkinson because they're their ADPs are shrinking the gap
[32:25] Speaker 3: between the two. It's really just a coin flip at
[32:27] Speaker 3: this point, whereas before Parkinson was going pretty consistently ahead
[32:31] Speaker 3: of Terrence Ferguson. So I've gotten more Ferguson, or sorry,
[32:34] Speaker 3: I was getting more Ferguson before. I'm getting a little
[32:36] Speaker 3: bit more Parkinson now. But there's nothing scary after puk
[32:39] Speaker 3: and Aku and Devonte Adams on this team, Like they
[32:42] Speaker 3: don't have a third wide receiver, They're gonna clearly use
[32:45] Speaker 3: their tight ends in pass catching roles, and to me,
[32:48] Speaker 3: Terrence Ferguson's most athletic and the most versatile tight end
[32:51] Speaker 3: that they have on that roster to move around the
[32:54] Speaker 3: formation and kind of be the de facto wide receiver
[32:56] Speaker 3: three on that team, right, So I think he's a
[32:59] Speaker 3: good prospect. There's good it's a good system to be in.
[33:02] Speaker 1: You know. I don't think that he's one of those players.
[33:04] Speaker 3: That I'm going to be heavy on in season long
[33:07] Speaker 3: this year just because he'll be a waiver wire guy.
[33:10] Speaker 1: I don't think you need to draft him, you know.
[33:12] Speaker 3: I don't think you need to throw that dart and
[33:15] Speaker 3: be like so confident in that player unless you're in
[33:17] Speaker 3: a deeper format. But you can, you know, obviously have
[33:20] Speaker 3: him on speed dial off the waiver wire. But I
[33:22] Speaker 3: think that he can give you some musable weeks. It
[33:23] Speaker 3: might not be predictable, but he'll give you some musable weeks.
[33:26] Speaker 3: Just given the environment.
[33:27] Speaker 2: There are eight rounds that pass from when Blake Korm
[33:30] Speaker 2: goes off the board until the next RAMS player, And
[33:33] Speaker 2: if you just go pass catcher, there's thirteen rounds between
[33:38] Speaker 2: DeVante Adams and Golbi Parkinson. We know the target funnel
[33:41] Speaker 2: is going to be very narrow. We know these guys
[33:44] Speaker 2: at the top are going to get a ton of targets.
[33:46] Speaker 2: But somebody else that has to catch some balls and
[33:49] Speaker 2: be productive in this offense.
[33:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy.
[33:54] Speaker 3: So it's a really really interesting build for that offense
[33:58] Speaker 3: in general. And I think Terrence Ferguson is going to
[34:01] Speaker 3: play you know, it's a year two tight end. We
[34:03] Speaker 3: should be looking at into players like that. I know
[34:05] Speaker 3: people are gonna say, but what about Max Claire. I
[34:07] Speaker 3: think Max, like they the Rams have shown us pretty
[34:10] Speaker 3: consistently under McVeigh that they kind of red shirt their rookies, right,
[34:13] Speaker 3: Like it's kind of like a like.
[34:15] Speaker 1: They did that with Quorum. You know they've done that.
[34:17] Speaker 3: I mean, if you want to throw dark West Hunter
[34:18] Speaker 3: in there, you know, technically they just didn't use him
[34:21] Speaker 3: at all.
[34:21] Speaker 1: I mean, I think Dark Ois Hunter has bigger problems
[34:23] Speaker 1: than just you know, let's go, we're not gonna We're
[34:27] Speaker 1: not gonna unleash him this year. Yeah, look it's an
[34:30] Speaker 1: l I like Dark.
[34:30] Speaker 3: West as a prospect, but we've seen it, We've seen
[34:33] Speaker 3: it happen with them, right Obviously pokin Akua was just undeniable.
[34:36] Speaker 1: But and they use them.
[34:37] Speaker 3: But you know, you got I think you have to
[34:39] Speaker 3: be that kind of talent in order to really be
[34:41] Speaker 3: heavily utilized for them. And Max Claire is a really
[34:44] Speaker 3: good prospect too, but I think that that's more of
[34:47] Speaker 3: a looking forward thing because Tyler Higby and Colby Parkinson
[34:50] Speaker 3: could be gone next year and they know that they're
[34:52] Speaker 3: going to continue being tight end heavy, so they got
[34:54] Speaker 3: ahead of it in a good tight end class and
[34:56] Speaker 3: they got Max Claire where they did.
[34:58] Speaker 1: So I'm not like overly whereorried about that this year.
[35:00] Speaker 3: I think I think Terrence Ferguson is set up to
[35:03] Speaker 3: at least give us a handful of usable weeks.
[35:05] Speaker 2: Who do you got for honorable mention at tight end?
[35:08] Speaker 3: I think Doultic was one. I realized I didn't put
[35:10] Speaker 3: that on here, but I I think Doulcic was one
[35:12] Speaker 3: of them. I think I actually had a decent amount
[35:15] Speaker 3: of Kate Oughton, oddly, which it's just a dude, right, Like,
[35:20] Speaker 3: I don't have like conviction about Kate Oughton. You know,
[35:23] Speaker 3: the Dulsaice thing has been Malik Willis. But also I
[35:27] Speaker 3: was drafting Doulsic because he was one of the players
[35:29] Speaker 3: we talked about right away.
[35:30] Speaker 1: When we started this season of the show, where I
[35:34] Speaker 1: was drafting him a decent bit.
[35:35] Speaker 3: But his ADP's gotten up like three rounds since that happened,
[35:38] Speaker 3: So I haven't gotten him as much, but Dulcie is
[35:41] Speaker 3: still pretty pretty highly exposed for my in my portfolio
[35:44] Speaker 3: right now. I think Kate Oughton was another one that
[35:46] Speaker 3: I was drafting a lot, partially just as like a
[35:48] Speaker 3: you know late stack you know Baker. I think it
[35:51] Speaker 3: is kind of an interesting click sometimes because he slips
[35:53] Speaker 3: and you know you can stack him with like McMillan
[35:56] Speaker 3: and Kate Otton late.
[35:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's also Gunner Home or kad outen Aj
[36:02] Speaker 2: or kade Oton, you know the I.
[36:04] Speaker 3: Will say I've gotten some Gunner Helm too. I don't
[36:07] Speaker 3: know if he is. I don't think he's as high
[36:10] Speaker 3: as as Otten, but I part of that is again
[36:12] Speaker 3: cam Word just throwing the dart and getting him when
[36:15] Speaker 3: he slips and stacking him in some way.
[36:17] Speaker 1: If I don't get Carnel Taate or Wandell Robinson. Let's
[36:20] Speaker 1: move on to.
[36:20] Speaker 3: Our glorious guest for today, a friend of mine that
[36:23] Speaker 3: I have gotten to know since starting becoming a best
[36:25] Speaker 3: ball bro. Really he's a great YouTube channel the flannel verse.
[36:28] Speaker 3: It's Neil Orfield. He's successful in dfs, He's won the
[36:32] Speaker 3: Millie and DFS. He's had many six figure wins in
[36:35] Speaker 3: Daily Fantasy. He's also a successful best ball player. He
[36:38] Speaker 3: actually last year in the Millie he finished two spots
[36:41] Speaker 3: ahead of me. There's so my When I was screenshotting
[36:44] Speaker 3: my my finish of being fortieth, every time I look
[36:48] Speaker 3: at that, I got to see Neil's freaking user name
[36:50] Speaker 3: two spots ahead. So he got the same payout though
[36:53] Speaker 3: same payout, it's all the same. You know, he'd beat
[36:56] Speaker 3: me by like I think, like less than half a point.
[36:59] Speaker 3: But we chatted about this year's landscape, like I've done
[37:02] Speaker 3: with the other guests so far, because I think it's
[37:04] Speaker 3: just an interesting topic running backs at the one two
[37:06] Speaker 3: turn where we're seeing a lot of those guys go.
[37:09] Speaker 3: So I wanted to get his take on that, how
[37:11] Speaker 3: he's handling quarterback and so much more. So, without further ado,
[37:14] Speaker 3: here is that interview with Neil Warfield. So, Neil, a
[37:34] Speaker 3: question I've been asking other guests, and I want to
[37:37] Speaker 3: hear your take. I'll probably eventually stop asking this to guests,
[37:40] Speaker 3: but I think at this point, since it's still June,
[37:42] Speaker 3: I'll continue asking it. But you look at the landscape
[37:45] Speaker 3: this year on DraftKings, and you look at it last year. Now,
[37:48] Speaker 3: last year you obviously had a lot of success. You know,
[37:51] Speaker 3: I won't mention that you beat me by two spots
[37:53] Speaker 3: in the.
[37:54] Speaker 1: Final last year.
[37:56] Speaker 3: I was telling Rich that every time I look at
[37:58] Speaker 3: that screenshot or something or it like pops up, I
[38:01] Speaker 3: always see your freaking user name right above it. So
[38:05] Speaker 3: you get to hold that over me forever. But when
[38:08] Speaker 3: you look at the landscape on DraftKings year over year,
[38:11] Speaker 3: what do you think one of the biggest differences is
[38:13] Speaker 3: for this year compared to last year.
[38:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, First of all, I want you to know I
[38:17] Speaker 4: was not going to bring up the fact that I
[38:18] Speaker 4: finished in thirty eighth place in the DraftKings Midlily Maker
[38:21] Speaker 4: last year, besting you on whatever the final reception.
[38:24] Speaker 1: For Puka or Bijon one by point two.
[38:27] Speaker 4: No, I don't, yeah something like that, like it it
[38:29] Speaker 4: was nothing, and you were beating me until like it
[38:31] Speaker 4: was just like PPR scamming my way there with both
[38:33] Speaker 4: Puka and Bijon on the team.
[38:35] Speaker 5: So yeah, I got there at the last second to
[38:37] Speaker 5: beat you up.
[38:38] Speaker 4: But we made the same amount of money, that's really all.
[38:40] Speaker 4: It's all pretty the same fortieth and thirty eighth. Oh yeah,
[38:43] Speaker 4: So the landscape, I feel like There's a few different
[38:46] Speaker 4: ways you could answer this question how has the landscape changed?
[38:48] Speaker 4: One of them being running backs are kind of an
[38:51] Speaker 4: obvious one. But I feel like quarterbacks, to me, is
[38:53] Speaker 4: almost the biggest change in the landscape on DraftKings this year.
[38:57] Speaker 4: And it was already pretty like a quarterback thirsty landscape
[39:01] Speaker 4: on draftings last year. I feel like that was a
[39:03] Speaker 4: big thing that we talked about quite a bit. A
[39:04] Speaker 4: lot of people wanted to get their three quarterbacks. They
[39:07] Speaker 4: would pull up kind of the pocket passing quarterbacks to
[39:10] Speaker 4: an odd range last year. But I think it's gotten
[39:12] Speaker 4: even worse this year. I mean, we have the range
[39:14] Speaker 4: of quarterbacks. I mean, you have Josh Allen kind of
[39:16] Speaker 4: his own tier going in the third round, but then
[39:19] Speaker 4: after Josh Allen, you've got between rounds five and ten,
[39:22] Speaker 4: eighteen quarterbacks come off the board. There's just sixty picks,
[39:26] Speaker 4: just just over sixty picks separating Lamar Jackson and Tyler Shuck,
[39:30] Speaker 4: Whereas in past years, I think that would have been
[39:32] Speaker 4: like one hundred and ten one hundred and twenty pick
[39:34] Speaker 4: difference between those two. And then even after that rang
[39:37] Speaker 4: so I said, eighteen between rounds five and ten, six
[39:41] Speaker 4: more quarterbacks come off the board in rounds eleven and twelve,
[39:44] Speaker 4: and then this year we're dealing with some kind of
[39:46] Speaker 4: uncertain quarterback room. So I think it kind of makes
[39:49] Speaker 4: sense because we have so many situations like the Browns
[39:52] Speaker 4: and the Falcons and all these like kind of uncertain
[39:55] Speaker 4: quarterback rooms going into the year. But then we also
[39:57] Speaker 4: have like quarterbacks that we think could lose the job
[40:00] Speaker 4: Jakobe Brissette by the end of the year, Geno Smith,
[40:03] Speaker 4: so like it is kind of important to get those quarterbacks.
[40:06] Speaker 5: But to me, that's that's.
[40:07] Speaker 4: Kind of the bigger shift is just all the quarterbacks
[40:10] Speaker 4: have moved up so much this year relative to even
[40:14] Speaker 4: last year when quarterbacks, you know, people are already pretty
[40:17] Speaker 4: thirsty for their quarterbacks this year. Just like the separation
[40:21] Speaker 4: between the like kind I mean, I would still consider
[40:24] Speaker 4: Lamar Jackson, Jade and Daniels like these are top tier quarterbacks.
[40:28] Speaker 4: I kind of consider them to be the same tier
[40:29] Speaker 4: as Josh Allen. They're going like there's like no separation
[40:32] Speaker 4: between the top tier and the second tier, and it's
[40:35] Speaker 4: just like really just a quick, you know, growth from
[40:39] Speaker 4: the from the top tier to like the fifth tier
[40:42] Speaker 4: of quarterback teams, like there's just five six round separating them.
[40:45] Speaker 4: So to me, that's that's actually the biggest change this
[40:48] Speaker 4: year is you really need to get your quarterback pretty
[40:50] Speaker 4: early or you're gonna fall behind it. You're going to
[40:52] Speaker 4: be fighting for some quarterbacks who might not even be
[40:55] Speaker 4: the starter to start the year or you know, have
[40:58] Speaker 4: some risk of losing their job by the end of
[41:00] Speaker 4: the year. So the quarterback landscape to me is even
[41:03] Speaker 4: thirst year than it was last year.
[41:04] Speaker 3: So how are you handling that? Like, are you kind
[41:06] Speaker 3: of alluded to it?
[41:07] Speaker 1: Are you?
[41:08] Speaker 3: I don't want to call it early round because it's
[41:10] Speaker 3: not really early around. It's not like Lamar and Jade
[41:12] Speaker 3: Daniels are going in round three or round four or
[41:14] Speaker 3: opportunity costs is a little bit higher. Are you leaning
[41:17] Speaker 3: into drafting those players because again you mentioned like Tyler
[41:21] Speaker 3: Shuck and where he's going, and nothing against Shuck. I
[41:23] Speaker 3: like Shuck this year, but like, you know, Shuck, where
[41:26] Speaker 3: he's going, that gap being closer to where Lamar is
[41:29] Speaker 3: and stuff. That is that making those elite guys a
[41:31] Speaker 3: little bit more enticing for you?
[41:33] Speaker 5: Yeah?
[41:33] Speaker 4: For sure, Like I love taking the Lamar Jackson, Jade
[41:37] Speaker 4: and Daniels, Drake May, Jalen Hurts like where they're going.
[41:40] Speaker 4: It's also kind of a great range to take quarterback
[41:43] Speaker 4: because you're dealing with some if your profiles at other positions.
[41:46] Speaker 4: It's like, okay, I can take Drake May, who I
[41:48] Speaker 4: wouldn't be surprised if he's the quarterback one overall this year.
[41:51] Speaker 4: Should not surprise anybody if Drake May or Jalen Hurts
[41:54] Speaker 4: or Jane Daniels if they end up as like the
[41:56] Speaker 4: quarterback one overall. Or you're taking Tony Pollard, taking remondros Stevenson,
[42:01] Speaker 4: who's the you know, the running going going as the
[42:03] Speaker 4: running back to on his own team, or you know
[42:04] Speaker 4: Jalen Warren, so you're dealing with some more questionable profiles
[42:08] Speaker 4: at running back or wide receiver. Or you can just
[42:12] Speaker 4: take an elite quarterback. So to me, I love taking
[42:15] Speaker 4: that range of quarterback, and then you can get back
[42:18] Speaker 4: to taking your your running backs receivers in a later round.
[42:20] Speaker 4: Whord to me, it's a pretty flat tier, you know,
[42:23] Speaker 4: taking the like I said, romondro Stevens and Tony Pollard,
[42:25] Speaker 4: whereas later on instead of taking a quarterback, you know,
[42:29] Speaker 4: in the nineth tenth round. You can take a Jonathan Brooks,
[42:32] Speaker 4: common Ung guy Blake Koran, and it's not that big
[42:34] Speaker 4: of a separation in those tiers. So I love taking
[42:37] Speaker 4: the you know, kind of the top of that range
[42:40] Speaker 4: of quarterbacks starting around like five or six, as opposed
[42:42] Speaker 4: to waiting on quarterback. I'd rather get my my quarterbacks early,
[42:46] Speaker 4: where you're just getting way more fantasy points from I mean,
[42:49] Speaker 4: Tyler Shuck to to Lamar Jackson is I think a
[42:51] Speaker 4: pretty good, pretty good example of that separation. You're just
[42:54] Speaker 4: going to get so many more fantasy points from Lamar
[42:57] Speaker 4: Jackson than Tyler Shuck or Jade and Daniels from Tyler Shuck,
[43:01] Speaker 4: et cetera. Then you know, the running backs you could
[43:04] Speaker 4: get in that range versus the running backs that you
[43:07] Speaker 4: can take later on.
[43:09] Speaker 3: So a question that I've gotten in that I feel
[43:11] Speaker 3: sometimes as I'm as I'm you know, doing a lot
[43:14] Speaker 3: of drafts and obviously wanting to not get too crazy
[43:18] Speaker 3: with exposure. Is sort of so from your perspective, and
[43:23] Speaker 3: I agree, it's optimal to be sort of at the
[43:27] Speaker 3: top of the quarter of any run. But then let's
[43:29] Speaker 3: just call it a quarterback run, right, because there is
[43:31] Speaker 3: a run that happens from that like six to seven
[43:34] Speaker 3: range through round like ten. Right, there's there's this massive
[43:38] Speaker 3: quarterback run where if you're getting the guy at the
[43:40] Speaker 3: end of that run, especially if it's not an upside
[43:43] Speaker 3: guy that you like, and you're just drafting a quarterback
[43:45] Speaker 3: to draft a quarterback, you're.
[43:46] Speaker 1: Obviously devaluing that pick. Right.
[43:48] Speaker 3: So it's it's it's smarter to be at the top
[43:50] Speaker 3: of that run than the back of that run.
[43:52] Speaker 5: Right.
[43:53] Speaker 3: But the thing that I always struggle with is then
[43:56] Speaker 3: getting proper exposure based on what I think I think
[44:00] Speaker 3: is the optimal strategy to take in some of these drafts.
[44:03] Speaker 3: Like for instance, like if you think going running back
[44:05] Speaker 3: running back is like the way to go, especially if
[44:07] Speaker 3: you're in the back half of the first round or
[44:09] Speaker 3: something like that, which we'll get to in a second.
[44:11] Speaker 3: If you think going running back running back like that
[44:13] Speaker 3: is optimal, then sure you'll get some different iterations for
[44:16] Speaker 3: the running backs that you're taking, but maybe you never
[44:18] Speaker 3: get CD Lamb, even though you probably want some exposure
[44:21] Speaker 3: to ced Lamb. Is that something that you're constantly thinking
[44:24] Speaker 3: about in general? Is it something that you're thinking about
[44:27] Speaker 3: right now in June, or is it something that you
[44:29] Speaker 3: worry about a little bit later in the season if
[44:31] Speaker 3: you're doing something like the MILLI where you know that
[44:33] Speaker 3: you can kind of even out exposure as the summer
[44:36] Speaker 3: goes on.
[44:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's definitely something that I'm thinking about constantly,
[44:40] Speaker 4: but it's not something that I'm acting on as much
[44:43] Speaker 4: right now as it will be later on. Like you said, like,
[44:46] Speaker 4: because you and I we're gonna be drafting all summer,
[44:49] Speaker 4: we have time to even at our exposures if we
[44:52] Speaker 4: want to. But generally, I think it's just draft to draft,
[44:55] Speaker 4: just making the best pick for that draft. I think
[44:57] Speaker 4: it's generally the correct approach because ADP is going to
[45:01] Speaker 4: shift throughout the year, and you're going to have different
[45:04] Speaker 4: opportunities throughout the year because you know, ADP shifts like
[45:06] Speaker 4: we saw with you know, we've seen a J. Brown
[45:09] Speaker 4: shift from a third round pick to a second round pick,
[45:11] Speaker 4: and so you know it's better to get him in
[45:13] Speaker 4: the third round, and you see that throughout the summer,
[45:16] Speaker 4: all these different players are going to shift in their
[45:19] Speaker 4: ADP now for you know, the opposite example would be
[45:22] Speaker 4: like I'm not really taking Melik Neighbors right now, but
[45:25] Speaker 4: I'm not worried about it because I think Melik Neighbors
[45:27] Speaker 4: is going to move backwards later in the summer. We're
[45:31] Speaker 4: going to be able to get him later. So I think,
[45:32] Speaker 4: you know, generally, it's something that's always on my mind,
[45:34] Speaker 4: what are my exposures looking at and my comfortable with
[45:36] Speaker 4: these exposures. But I also know that ADP is going
[45:39] Speaker 4: to shift over time. And also just like draft to draft,
[45:42] Speaker 4: you can see even right now, if I do ten
[45:45] Speaker 4: drafts today, I can keep my rankings the exact same,
[45:48] Speaker 4: but I'm gonna have different opportunities draft to draft, so
[45:52] Speaker 4: you know, I might always be taking those those running
[45:55] Speaker 4: backs in the later rounds. But there's gonna come a
[45:59] Speaker 4: draft where, like it you say Ceedee Lamb, if you
[46:01] Speaker 4: want to get Ceede Lamb, there's gonna come and draft
[46:03] Speaker 4: where Seedy Lamb is just gonna fall to you at
[46:05] Speaker 4: the eleven pick or something. So you can keep him
[46:07] Speaker 4: ranked behind Justin Jefferson, Alman ros Saint Brown and Christian
[46:10] Speaker 4: McCaffrey or whoever it is that you're taking over him,
[46:12] Speaker 4: and you're gonna have opportunities to draft him without reaching
[46:16] Speaker 4: to take him ahead of players that you like better.
[46:18] Speaker 4: So I don't worry about it that much right now.
[46:20] Speaker 4: But yeah, once we get to August, if I'm like,
[46:23] Speaker 4: you know, I don't really see a big separation between
[46:25] Speaker 4: Ceedee Lamb and Alman Ross Saint Brown, then I might
[46:29] Speaker 4: start just I'll reach a little bit and take Ceedee
[46:31] Speaker 4: Lamb over Alman Ross Saint Brown.
[46:32] Speaker 5: But yeah, for now, I'm not.
[46:34] Speaker 4: I'm not really you know, going out of my way
[46:37] Speaker 4: to even out my exposures that much.
[46:38] Speaker 5: Now.
[46:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, I say this, I think that that is the
[46:41] Speaker 4: correct approaches to not do it that much. I do
[46:43] Speaker 4: it some like I can't help it because there are
[46:45] Speaker 4: players that I'm like, you know, I really don't feel
[46:47] Speaker 4: that differently about. Like I had this conversation with Karan
[46:50] Speaker 4: last week, Ted Roe McMillan and Luthor Burden, Like, yeah,
[46:53] Speaker 4: if I use his product, I'm always gonna get Tedero
[46:56] Speaker 4: McMillan ahead of Luthor Burden. I'm to me, like, to me,
[46:58] Speaker 4: it's not that clear that of like t Mac that
[47:01] Speaker 4: much better than Luther Burden, because I think there's pros
[47:04] Speaker 4: and cons to both. So I might sometimes reach and
[47:06] Speaker 4: take you know, a Burden over tetromopile and you know,
[47:09] Speaker 4: profiles like that where it's like, it's not that clear
[47:11] Speaker 4: to me that this is a different tier of player.
[47:14] Speaker 4: So I do I do sometimes reach a little bit,
[47:16] Speaker 4: but I think that the correct approach is is the
[47:18] Speaker 4: you know, let it, you know, work itself out over time.
[47:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, makes a lot of sense to me.
[47:23] Speaker 3: So also this year, we're definitely seeing more people. I
[47:26] Speaker 3: will say, I think that part of like the running
[47:29] Speaker 3: back heavy discussion, which is why I love that you
[47:31] Speaker 3: answered that first question with quarterback and not running back,
[47:34] Speaker 3: because I think.
[47:34] Speaker 1: It's sort of like the default to talk about the
[47:37] Speaker 1: running back.
[47:37] Speaker 3: Not to say that it's right or wrong, but I
[47:40] Speaker 3: do think that it might be a little bit overblown,
[47:42] Speaker 3: like the idea that people are like going so crazy
[47:44] Speaker 3: for running backs right now and such and like that,
[47:46] Speaker 3: like it's so totally different than what we saw last year.
[47:49] Speaker 3: I would argue that last year we still saw a
[47:51] Speaker 3: decent amount of running backs going early in these drafts,
[47:54] Speaker 3: especially because the year before that running back was actually
[47:57] Speaker 3: pretty strong, and so we are seeing some like I
[48:00] Speaker 3: think that part of it is the narrative of like
[48:02] Speaker 3: some zero rb bros who are now touting you know,
[48:06] Speaker 3: going earlier around running back is making the entire industry
[48:10] Speaker 3: be like, oh, man, like everyone's going earlier around running
[48:13] Speaker 3: back now, which is probably true to a degree, but
[48:14] Speaker 3: there's still some good wide receiver picks in there, but
[48:16] Speaker 3: the meta has certainly shifted. Let's just say that, let's
[48:19] Speaker 3: say that people are more okay and drafting multiple running
[48:22] Speaker 3: backs with their first couple of picks.
[48:23] Speaker 1: So my question though, and this is one that.
[48:26] Speaker 3: I asked Liam last week as well, is this a
[48:29] Speaker 3: year then to zig when everyone's zagging and go zero
[48:32] Speaker 3: RB as people are more comfortable with a robust RB approach.
[48:37] Speaker 4: I think that the correct approach is always to just
[48:39] Speaker 4: take what the draft room gives you. So no, I
[48:43] Speaker 4: don't think that it's necessarily the right year, Like I
[48:45] Speaker 4: don't think that you should be forcing zero RB this
[48:48] Speaker 4: year because we don't have the same type of late
[48:51] Speaker 4: round running backs that we used to have. So part
[48:53] Speaker 4: of the reason that you know, I was really in
[48:56] Speaker 4: on zero RB, I mean even last year when it
[48:58] Speaker 4: didn't really work out for me, was because I thought,
[49:00] Speaker 4: at least last year that there were tons of late
[49:02] Speaker 4: round running backs that had really strong profiles. It was,
[49:06] Speaker 4: you know, a really strong rookie running back draft class
[49:10] Speaker 4: where you could get these rookie running backs late who
[49:12] Speaker 4: should have a ton of upside, have some continued value.
[49:15] Speaker 4: Now for me, I took all the wrong ones. I
[49:17] Speaker 4: was taking Richard Smith, Darks Hunter, et cetera, et cetera.
[49:19] Speaker 4: But I know you started talking about kaman Ungay late
[49:22] Speaker 4: later on in the season after not really loving him
[49:24] Speaker 4: early on. Woody Marks like, there were these running backs
[49:27] Speaker 4: that you could get later on, so it made more
[49:30] Speaker 4: sense to do more zero RB when they're were stronger
[49:33] Speaker 4: running backs later. Now you have a lot of the
[49:36] Speaker 4: running backs that were that are like young running backs
[49:39] Speaker 4: that we see have a lot of upside, you can't
[49:41] Speaker 4: really get them in the later rounds anymore.
[49:43] Speaker 5: Like even last year you could get like a Tyler Lgier.
[49:46] Speaker 4: So I love the running backs, particularly in Best Ball
[49:48] Speaker 4: that have some standalone value, like they don't need anything
[49:51] Speaker 4: to happen, and they're going to have some double digit
[49:53] Speaker 4: scoring weeks, but then also have like awesome contingent upside.
[49:56] Speaker 4: So last year was like Tyler Lgiear, if something happened
[49:58] Speaker 4: to be Jean Robinson is going to be awesome. You
[50:01] Speaker 4: just don't really have a ton of those guys later on.
[50:05] Speaker 4: So if you and you need to score some running
[50:07] Speaker 4: back points early on, so you really can't wait too long,
[50:10] Speaker 4: I think to start drafting running backs now. I still
[50:13] Speaker 4: do some zero RB ish builds where I won't take
[50:16] Speaker 4: a running back until like the seventh round, but it's
[50:19] Speaker 4: tougher because we don't have, you know, a ton of these,
[50:22] Speaker 4: and you do have some like you. I mean, Brian
[50:24] Speaker 4: Robinson might be an example this year, replacing Tyler Aldiere
[50:26] Speaker 4: in Atlanta, who knows like you can. You can probably
[50:29] Speaker 4: find some of those later on in drafts who are
[50:31] Speaker 4: going to have who will have those you know, ten
[50:33] Speaker 4: point weeks here and there throughout the season, even without
[50:36] Speaker 4: an injury. But they're more difficult to find because people
[50:38] Speaker 4: have gotten sharper about how to find the right running
[50:42] Speaker 4: back profile. So like the running backs who have that
[50:45] Speaker 4: you know, standalone value, Blake Quorum is now going in
[50:48] Speaker 4: the top one hundred bick, Kya Munungai going to the
[50:50] Speaker 4: top one hundred bicks. The type of running back that
[50:53] Speaker 4: you used to maybe be able to get at like
[50:54] Speaker 4: pick one forty one fifty, you can't get them there anymore.
[50:58] Speaker 4: So it is to me more difficult to go zero
[51:01] Speaker 4: RB this year than it has been in years past.
[51:04] Speaker 4: But then you know, the tricky part there is it
[51:07] Speaker 4: does feel like, you know, we have a lot of
[51:09] Speaker 4: kind of aging running backs with a lot of miles
[51:11] Speaker 4: on their legs at this point who are going in
[51:13] Speaker 4: the early rounds. So it does feel like we're probably
[51:16] Speaker 4: going to find some later a round running backs who
[51:19] Speaker 4: don't have a ton of standalone value but probably do
[51:22] Speaker 4: have massive continent value behind Saquon Barkley, Derrek Henry, Jonathan Taylor, whatever,
[51:26] Speaker 4: and name any of these running backs who are veterans
[51:29] Speaker 4: who have a ton of miles on them. But to me,
[51:31] Speaker 4: it's like, you can you can still go after some
[51:35] Speaker 4: of those backup running backs without going zero RB, because, like,
[51:39] Speaker 4: I just think that the tough part is, you do
[51:41] Speaker 4: need to get points early in the season to advance
[51:43] Speaker 4: your team. You need to get some points from running
[51:44] Speaker 4: back early on, and it's tougher to find those running
[51:47] Speaker 4: backs who are going to score early points later in
[51:50] Speaker 4: drafts this year. So I'm doing I am doing some
[51:52] Speaker 4: zero RB, but I'm not taking it to the extreme
[51:55] Speaker 4: that I've done in past years where it's like I'm
[51:57] Speaker 4: not taking a running back till the tenth or eleventh round,
[51:59] Speaker 4: like to me, zero RB now is like sixth or
[52:01] Speaker 4: seventh rounds when I started taking running backs.
[52:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, agreed.
[52:05] Speaker 3: Are there any middle or late round backs that you've
[52:08] Speaker 3: really gravitated towards overrun DK?
[52:10] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean a lot of the ones that I mentioned,
[52:13] Speaker 4: I've taken a fair amount of Blake Korum, Kamon Unguy.
[52:18] Speaker 4: The one that I'm really in the middle rounds that
[52:21] Speaker 4: I've gravitated toward is Jonathan Brooks. I just I can't
[52:23] Speaker 4: can't get enough Jonathan Brooks. Just I think I've just
[52:26] Speaker 4: memory wiped the past two years and just like you know,
[52:29] Speaker 4: he was so exciting a couple of years ago coming
[52:31] Speaker 4: in And I don't know, like I'm not a doctor.
[52:35] Speaker 4: I don't know how to read the medical reports, and
[52:36] Speaker 4: I think like depending on who you read, you're going
[52:38] Speaker 4: to get a different vantage point on like Jonathan Brooks's
[52:41] Speaker 4: outlook this year, Like did he have did he actually
[52:44] Speaker 4: tear his ACL twice or was it a repair the
[52:46] Speaker 4: second time? And he's good to go now. I don't
[52:48] Speaker 4: know that stuff, but I know that there are some people,
[52:51] Speaker 4: some you know, Twitter doctors who believe Jonathan Brooks should
[52:55] Speaker 4: be good to go at this point, should be healthy
[52:57] Speaker 4: and then we just get such bullish coach week on
[53:00] Speaker 4: Jonathan Brooks that kind of leads me to believe that, like,
[53:03] Speaker 4: you don't really need an injury ahead of him to
[53:06] Speaker 4: Toobe Hubbard for Jonathan Brooks to take over as the
[53:09] Speaker 4: top running back on a team that really wants to
[53:11] Speaker 4: run the ball. So to me, Jonathan Brooks is is
[53:14] Speaker 4: kind of that mid range running back that I've really
[53:16] Speaker 4: gravitated toward. Now he is, He's getting a little bit
[53:20] Speaker 4: more difficult as he gets closer to the Blake Korum
[53:22] Speaker 4: and kamon Unga because to me, like that's kind of
[53:24] Speaker 4: the tier that he belongs in now. I do think
[53:27] Speaker 4: that he has a probably better odds than either of
[53:31] Speaker 4: those two to take on like the one A role
[53:35] Speaker 4: without an injury, but I think that they have probably
[53:38] Speaker 4: a stronger hold on the or you know, we're surer
[53:41] Speaker 4: of their floor, like as the one B for a
[53:44] Speaker 4: guy like kaman Unguy Blake Orm. So to me, that's
[53:46] Speaker 4: kind of the right range for Jonathan Brooks until we
[53:49] Speaker 4: hear something more bullish, and he's moving kind of in
[53:52] Speaker 4: that direction, but he has not quite gotten there yet.
[53:54] Speaker 5: So I've been drafting just a ton of Jonathan Brooks.
[53:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that call a lot I have been too.
[54:00] Speaker 3: And some of it is when you look at the
[54:02] Speaker 3: way you mentioned the market's being been sharper, and I agree.
[54:05] Speaker 3: And one of the ways that it's been sharper, and
[54:07] Speaker 3: this has been brought up before on the show, but
[54:09] Speaker 3: you know, you look at some of these like like
[54:11] Speaker 3: New England for instance, where Trayvon Henderson goes in round
[54:14] Speaker 3: five and then Remandre goes in round seven, and I
[54:17] Speaker 3: feel like historically that would have been flipped where the
[54:20] Speaker 3: younger guy would have been the easier click, like very
[54:22] Speaker 3: much easier, or like Bashall Tuton before would.
[54:25] Speaker 1: Have gone in like round eight or nine.
[54:27] Speaker 3: You know, like now he's going in like the five
[54:29] Speaker 3: you know, the five range like pretty comfortably now.
[54:31] Speaker 1: He was more in the six range before.
[54:33] Speaker 3: But like, I feel like the Carolina backfield is one
[54:37] Speaker 3: of the few backfields where like maybe you could maybe
[54:40] Speaker 3: make an argument about Tampa Bay if you're really pro
[54:43] Speaker 3: Kenny Gainwell, but the Carolina backfield is one of the
[54:46] Speaker 3: backfields where like the younger potentially ascending talent. Now obviously
[54:50] Speaker 3: this is all because of the ACLS, but the younger
[54:53] Speaker 3: potentially ascending talent is the one that's actually going a
[54:56] Speaker 3: decent bit later than the other guy, And like that's
[54:58] Speaker 3: kind of attractive because we're not getting those situations very
[55:01] Speaker 3: frequently right now, you know, within the environment.
[55:04] Speaker 1: So I love the Jonathan Brooks call out. I think
[55:06] Speaker 1: that's a.
[55:06] Speaker 3: He's to me, he's like the like, if I go
[55:09] Speaker 3: early running back and get a couple of them in
[55:11] Speaker 3: the first like two or three rounds, I'm fine with
[55:13] Speaker 3: him as my RB three, you know, and and then
[55:15] Speaker 3: and then just tagging on a few, you know, two
[55:18] Speaker 3: or three of them later after Brooks, because I do
[55:20] Speaker 3: think he has that upside of just being the one
[55:23] Speaker 3: A in the backfield, like you said, and if that
[55:25] Speaker 3: hits while you have the other two running backs you
[55:27] Speaker 3: drafted early, that's a really good stable of running backs
[55:29] Speaker 3: for your for your best ball team.
[55:31] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[55:31] Speaker 4: I feel the exact same way. He's really strong as
[55:35] Speaker 4: a running back three who could break in and be
[55:37] Speaker 4: like your your top top two running back pretty easily.
[55:40] Speaker 4: The funny thing is we talk about this, but it's
[55:42] Speaker 4: still like you know, and it's one of those rare
[55:44] Speaker 4: situations where like you can get the more exciting younger
[55:46] Speaker 4: running back later, but it's still like you you still
[55:48] Speaker 4: have to take him in the you know, ninth round,
[55:50] Speaker 4: like we're not getting like.
[55:51] Speaker 5: The crazy good discounts.
[55:52] Speaker 4: So it's like I love the pick, but it's not
[55:54] Speaker 4: like such a clear obvious one where whereas there was
[55:57] Speaker 4: a point where he was going you know, in the
[55:58] Speaker 4: one forties. One fifties is something where where it was
[56:01] Speaker 4: a more obvious click. Now it's like, all right, it's
[56:03] Speaker 4: still like I still really love taking it. I still
[56:05] Speaker 4: feel like that the profile here relative to the other
[56:07] Speaker 4: running backs around, I love it, but it's it is
[56:09] Speaker 4: like the draft drafters have gotten a lot sharper than
[56:12] Speaker 4: than they were in past year. So I so I
[56:14] Speaker 4: love doing it. I think he's a really strong, you know,
[56:16] Speaker 4: like running back three. Like you said, I'll even sometimes
[56:19] Speaker 4: use him as like my running back to it. It's
[56:20] Speaker 4: pretty rare though at this point that I'm that I'm
[56:23] Speaker 4: drafting and running back to that late or he can,
[56:26] Speaker 4: like to me be the final running back on like
[56:27] Speaker 4: a four running back bill.
[56:28] Speaker 5: Yes on DraftKings.
[56:30] Speaker 3: Yes, I'm hoping that in regular season long leagues and
[56:32] Speaker 3: home leagues that it's not that that he's more of
[56:34] Speaker 3: an afterthought, like I'm hoping that we end up seeing
[56:37] Speaker 3: adp in like the season long environment, not be I
[56:41] Speaker 3: guess as sharp, but like you know, we see a
[56:43] Speaker 3: little bit of these changes and like makes it easier
[56:45] Speaker 3: to get guys like Tootin and stuff like that than
[56:47] Speaker 3: it is, like nothing against those guys, I think you
[56:49] Speaker 3: can draft them. I'm just saying, like I want it
[56:51] Speaker 3: to be like the most obvious click in the world,
[56:53] Speaker 3: you know what I mean, instead of you actually having
[56:55] Speaker 3: to think about it and be like.
[56:56] Speaker 1: Do I want to take on this cost when I'm
[56:58] Speaker 1: taking on this player.
[57:00] Speaker 3: With the running backs, like we've been saying, like we're
[57:02] Speaker 3: taking them early and oftentimes, especially if you're in the
[57:05] Speaker 3: back half of the first round, you're double tapping running
[57:07] Speaker 3: back a lot, right, just because of the group that's there.
[57:10] Speaker 3: So I want to ask you, are there any favorites
[57:13] Speaker 3: that you have at that one two turn area.
[57:16] Speaker 1: I mean, you can you can extend it into middle.
[57:18] Speaker 3: Round two and even late round two if you really
[57:21] Speaker 3: like a Derreck Henry or something. But are there any
[57:23] Speaker 3: running backs that you've seen seem to go after a
[57:26] Speaker 3: lot more in that range or are you kind of
[57:28] Speaker 3: just spreading things out more?
[57:29] Speaker 1: Evenly?
[57:30] Speaker 4: I love Ashton Genty in that range like he's I
[57:33] Speaker 4: mean to think he kind of goes at the top
[57:34] Speaker 4: of that range.
[57:34] Speaker 5: Maybe he goes after James Cook.
[57:37] Speaker 4: And I sometimes I question whether I'm foolish for for
[57:39] Speaker 4: liking Ashton Genty better than James Cook. But I just
[57:42] Speaker 4: think he has like krue belcow upside, like the offense
[57:45] Speaker 4: could take a step forward. The question is like, am
[57:48] Speaker 4: I just wishcasting that he'll become James Cook like what
[57:51] Speaker 4: James Cook has been the past couple of years. I'm
[57:53] Speaker 4: not sure about this, but I but I really like
[57:55] Speaker 4: taking Ashton Genty kind of at the the end of
[57:58] Speaker 4: round two and then you know, if you can pair
[58:00] Speaker 4: him up with Saquon Barkley. I think Saquon could take
[58:02] Speaker 4: a pretty big step forward with the new offensive coordinator
[58:05] Speaker 4: this year. You've kind of talked me into you, among others,
[58:08] Speaker 4: have talked me into Chase Brown as being a really
[58:10] Speaker 4: strong second round running back target. So there are kind
[58:12] Speaker 4: of a number of these second round running backs that
[58:15] Speaker 4: I like.
[58:16] Speaker 5: Kenneth Walker.
[58:16] Speaker 4: I think it's kind of fun, like just just going
[58:18] Speaker 4: to the Chiefs. We haven't really seen the Chiefs with
[58:20] Speaker 4: a good running back in a while. And who knows
[58:23] Speaker 4: how they're going to change their offense, especially with Patrick
[58:25] Speaker 4: Mahomes kind of coming off an injury. Maybe they go
[58:28] Speaker 4: a little bit more run heavy with Kenneth Walker there.
[58:31] Speaker 4: So I like Kenneth Walker in the second round, and
[58:34] Speaker 4: then Omar and Hampton. I do think, like the Chargers
[58:37] Speaker 4: were so injured on the offensive line last year, Like
[58:40] Speaker 4: if they can just keep their offensive line healthy, I
[58:43] Speaker 4: think it'll be an above average offensive line. And amar
[58:46] Speaker 4: In Hampton was pretty good last year, so I'm pretty
[58:49] Speaker 4: into him also. So yeah, I do kind of like
[58:52] Speaker 4: that range of running back in the late first, early
[58:55] Speaker 4: second round, Like it feels pretty good to doubliclick running
[58:57] Speaker 4: back there, where you know in years past it's difficult
[59:00] Speaker 4: to do so because you feel like you're getting behind
[59:02] Speaker 4: at wide receiver. And part of the reason that it's
[59:05] Speaker 4: also easier to just do these early round running backs
[59:08] Speaker 4: is like the mid late rounds, there's a lot of
[59:10] Speaker 4: receivers that I kind of like, So I'm I'm totally
[59:13] Speaker 4: willing to double click those that that kind of range
[59:16] Speaker 4: of running back I'm like, And one that I'm that
[59:19] Speaker 4: I didn't bring up here that I'm kind of overlooking
[59:21] Speaker 4: is Devin h Chan, who you know, to me is like.
[59:23] Speaker 5: It's hard for me to do it.
[59:24] Speaker 4: I don't want to bet on the Miami offense. And
[59:26] Speaker 4: then it's like he's just going to be targeted so
[59:28] Speaker 4: so often that I'm probably overlooking him more than I
[59:31] Speaker 4: should on on DraftKings. And then of course there's the
[59:34] Speaker 4: the elephant in the room is that I told you
[59:36] Speaker 4: last year that I was probably not going to draft
[59:38] Speaker 4: Derreck Henry at all on DraftKings, and then he took
[59:40] Speaker 4: you to to fortieth place in the draftings. You still be, well,
[59:45] Speaker 4: that is true, but that's because I had be John
[59:46] Speaker 4: Robinson absolutely crush also. But yeah, Derek, he's a tougher
[59:52] Speaker 4: profile for me on draftings just with the lack of PPR.
[59:55] Speaker 4: Even if he's fallen a little bit back in drafts,
[59:57] Speaker 4: you can get him sometimes in the late second round,
[1:00:00] Speaker 4: in which case I'm willing to take it Derrick Henry,
[1:00:02] Speaker 4: but he's He's He and Devin h And are kind
[1:00:05] Speaker 4: of the running backs in that room that I'm a
[1:00:07] Speaker 4: little bit less excited to take.
[1:00:09] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:00:09] Speaker 3: No, the a chance stuff is really really difficult for me.
[1:00:12] Speaker 3: I think he's one of the hardest players to really
[1:00:14] Speaker 3: evaluate this year. You know, I've been doing a lot
[1:00:16] Speaker 3: of work with the draft guide, and he checks all
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: the boxes that you want for an early round pick
[1:00:20] Speaker 3: until you get to the situation part. And the situation
[1:00:24] Speaker 3: is just putrid for Miami. And we do see the
[1:00:27] Speaker 3: best outcomes typically when they when these running backs have
[1:00:31] Speaker 3: good team environments, and his team environment's terrible, and so
[1:00:34] Speaker 3: it is something that it's like how much do we
[1:00:37] Speaker 3: weigh that in the end. You know, I do think
[1:00:40] Speaker 3: that a chan can pay off, but I think he's
[1:00:41] Speaker 3: gonna need like a twenty percent target share to do so,
[1:00:44] Speaker 3: Like it's gonna have to be that high, and that's.
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: Scary, especially with a mobile quarterback. So I'm with you.
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: I haven't drafted him.
[1:00:51] Speaker 3: Sometimes he'll fall, Like if you do enough drafts, he
[1:00:53] Speaker 3: does because a lot of people have the same logic
[1:00:55] Speaker 3: as we're throwing out there right now. So like sometimes
[1:00:58] Speaker 3: he falls to like the back half for the second round,
[1:01:00] Speaker 3: and it's like, yeah, I'll click them there so I'll
[1:01:02] Speaker 3: get some exposure and that's where I'll get my exposure.
[1:01:05] Speaker 3: But I'm with you with a lot of the takes
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: that you just had, you know, Ashton Genty looks great
[1:01:09] Speaker 3: in market score, you know, published that episode yesterday and
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: Ashton Genty looks awesome in there. And then the Amri
[1:01:15] Speaker 3: and Hampton thing, I need to get a little bit
[1:01:17] Speaker 3: more of him because and it's not that I was
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: like aggressively fading or anything. It's just the way that
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: like drafts have kind of unfolded for me. But the
[1:01:24] Speaker 3: thing I feel like with a Mari and Hampton is
[1:01:26] Speaker 3: that I think the floor is actually probably pretty decent
[1:01:29] Speaker 3: because the offensive environment's so good, and then he's gonna
[1:01:32] Speaker 3: get work in that offense. But then the ceiling could
[1:01:35] Speaker 3: really hit if things just sort of go his way,
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: you know, like if he if he gets like a
[1:01:41] Speaker 3: little bit more of a backfield chair than what people
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: are projecting and stuff. And I have enough Keaton Mitchell
[1:01:45] Speaker 3: that I probably should get more Amri and Hampton. So
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: I do think that this range is probably why people
[1:01:50] Speaker 3: have the idea that they have about running backs this year, right,
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: where like second.
[1:01:54] Speaker 1: Round we're pounding them when we don't. Like last year
[1:01:56] Speaker 1: was wide receivers.
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: In this range, you know, and they screwed a lot
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: of people, including me and in some drafts, right, So
[1:02:01] Speaker 3: I do think that's probably where the narrative is really
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: stemming from. But in the end, it's not dramatically dramatically
[1:02:07] Speaker 3: different if you look at the totality of round two,
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: I suppose just the early parts of round two. Now,
[1:02:12] Speaker 3: another decision you have to make in that area is
[1:02:15] Speaker 3: brock Bowers, because he will go smack dab in the
[1:02:18] Speaker 3: middle of those of those running backs now and that
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: running back run. And then there's also Trey McBride, who
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: will slip to the early third round pretty frequently at
[1:02:25] Speaker 3: this point. But I guess my question for you is,
[1:02:28] Speaker 3: like on DraftKings, are you going with an elite tight
[1:02:31] Speaker 3: end approach?
[1:02:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm the guy who falls for elite tight end
[1:02:34] Speaker 4: every year. I'm the goofy meme. I'll f and do
[1:02:36] Speaker 4: it again. I'm doing it again with with brock Bowers
[1:02:39] Speaker 4: in particular. This year's funny because Trey McBride is the
[1:02:41] Speaker 4: one who actually did separate last year, you know, outscored
[1:02:45] Speaker 4: the tight end two by over one hundred ppr mad
[1:02:47] Speaker 4: weeks one through seventeen.
[1:02:48] Speaker 5: He was so good.
[1:02:49] Speaker 4: But like, I just have so little faith in Like,
[1:02:51] Speaker 4: is it even going to be Jacoby Verst? Is it
[1:02:53] Speaker 4: going to be Jacoby Brissett in the weeks that matter,
[1:02:55] Speaker 4: and does it matter? Can Jacoby Brissett repeat what he
[1:02:58] Speaker 4: did last year? So I have so many questions about
[1:03:00] Speaker 4: Trey McBride, whereas brock Bauer was just like, man, he's
[1:03:03] Speaker 4: so good when he's healthy. Like last year, I feel
[1:03:05] Speaker 4: like last year was just a huge just like forget
[1:03:07] Speaker 4: about it, four brock Bowers, because not only did he
[1:03:10] Speaker 4: miss time, but while he was playing, he played like
[1:03:12] Speaker 4: three or four games where he was just clearly hampered
[1:03:15] Speaker 4: by injury early in the year. So I think you
[1:03:17] Speaker 4: throw out most of the year four brock Bowers. And
[1:03:19] Speaker 4: then on top of that, there's a whole just the
[1:03:20] Speaker 4: offense wasn't working, the team fell apart. I think rock
[1:03:24] Speaker 4: Bauers could take just a massive, massive step forward this
[1:03:27] Speaker 4: year and separate in a big way from other tight ends.
[1:03:30] Speaker 4: And yeah, I love the elite tight ends because and
[1:03:33] Speaker 4: it might just stem back from like I've been playing
[1:03:35] Speaker 4: season long for thirty years now and I just yearn
[1:03:38] Speaker 4: for the days of Tony Gonzalez or Gronk and just
[1:03:41] Speaker 4: feeling like I'm going to beat my opponent by ten
[1:03:42] Speaker 4: points every week. And I feel like you can get
[1:03:45] Speaker 4: that from from a brock Bowers, so he can just
[1:03:46] Speaker 4: separate so much from the other tight ends that I
[1:03:50] Speaker 4: do really love going after rock Bowers that year. Now,
[1:03:53] Speaker 4: with that said, I'm not like strictly e elite tight
[1:03:56] Speaker 4: end guy, like I don't like reach to get brock Bowers,
[1:03:58] Speaker 4: which I did last year, as I've taking about the
[1:04:00] Speaker 4: one two turn.
[1:04:01] Speaker 5: Yeah last year.
[1:04:02] Speaker 4: I'm doing less of that this year, but I'm still
[1:04:05] Speaker 4: going to be pretty significantly overweight. The difference for me is,
[1:04:08] Speaker 4: especially with twenty rounds on DraftKings. In Best Ball, you
[1:04:11] Speaker 4: can just take five tight ends and hope that you
[1:04:13] Speaker 4: know they'll cobble together scores week to week. That it's
[1:04:16] Speaker 4: like the separation of rock Bowers versus my five tight ends.
[1:04:20] Speaker 4: You just need one of them one of their scores
[1:04:21] Speaker 4: every week to get close to his to not just
[1:04:24] Speaker 4: get completely bashed in by the rock Bower score. So
[1:04:29] Speaker 4: I'm because it is Best Ball and because you like
[1:04:31] Speaker 4: have enough draft spots that you can take five tight ends,
[1:04:34] Speaker 4: I'm doing it less, so I'm not like.
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: Reaching for it.
[1:04:37] Speaker 4: But yeah, if I can get rock Bowers that pick
[1:04:39] Speaker 4: twenty twenty one, I love it. I'm always excited to
[1:04:42] Speaker 4: get Brock Bowers there.
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: Have you gone, have you frequently gone five tight ends
[1:04:46] Speaker 3: or have you gone like you'll go up to that
[1:04:48] Speaker 3: number of tight ends.
[1:04:50] Speaker 4: I don't think that I've done more than five. I
[1:04:52] Speaker 4: think I've done five a number of times. Just like
[1:04:55] Speaker 4: you get to those later rounds, and maybe it'll happen
[1:04:57] Speaker 4: less as we get more clarity on like running back
[1:05:00] Speaker 4: two situations, pecking orders for wide receivers, et cetera, et cetera.
[1:05:04] Speaker 5: I think it might happen less.
[1:05:05] Speaker 4: But now it's like you can get like a number
[1:05:07] Speaker 4: of starting tight ends pretty later or tight ends with
[1:05:10] Speaker 4: really fun upside later in drafts. So yeah, I have
[1:05:13] Speaker 4: done five five tight ends on DraftKings a number of times.
[1:05:17] Speaker 1: Interesting, I think the most.
[1:05:18] Speaker 3: I think the most I've done is four is the like,
[1:05:22] Speaker 3: like I'm thinking, like from an allocation standpoint, is it
[1:05:27] Speaker 3: a for you when you do that and you have five,
[1:05:31] Speaker 3: is it basically like final five rounds? You're basically just
[1:05:34] Speaker 3: like doing that at tight end and then you have
[1:05:36] Speaker 3: what I guess seven wide receivers if you go wide
[1:05:39] Speaker 3: receiver early or something, and then like five running backs,
[1:05:42] Speaker 3: you're kind of going with that approach with it.
[1:05:44] Speaker 4: Yeah, So I try not to make most of my
[1:05:47] Speaker 4: analysis based around using the sidekick. So I use pack
[1:05:51] Speaker 4: Rains sidekick tool from legendary Upside, which simulates the season
[1:05:55] Speaker 4: and simulates the contests. And I never would have done
[1:05:59] Speaker 4: five tight ends in the past just using my brain,
[1:06:02] Speaker 4: like you using my own logic. Yeah, I never got
[1:06:04] Speaker 4: to five titands. It is because I've been using this
[1:06:06] Speaker 4: tool that's like keeps on telling me. So I did
[1:06:09] Speaker 4: a live draft yesterday on DraftKings where I took Rock
[1:06:12] Speaker 4: Bowers and still kept on getting recommended to take up.
[1:06:15] Speaker 4: I took five tight ends in this draft even after
[1:06:17] Speaker 4: like it was, I was getting recommended Jackson Hawes, and
[1:06:20] Speaker 4: I was like, I'm not going to take Jackson Hawes.
[1:06:22] Speaker 4: So I took somebody else and kept let in and
[1:06:23] Speaker 4: fall and final I was like, I guess I'll do
[1:06:25] Speaker 4: whatever that this will be my one share of Jackson Hawes.
[1:06:28] Speaker 4: So it's honestly, it's based largely on the SIMS tool
[1:06:31] Speaker 4: that I'm using telling me, hey, you should just take
[1:06:33] Speaker 4: take tight ends. Here it's you you're taking a tight
[1:06:34] Speaker 4: end who's going to score you some points, or you're
[1:06:36] Speaker 4: taking a running back who's probably going to be a
[1:06:39] Speaker 4: zero most of the time, but yeah, that one, that
[1:06:42] Speaker 4: was one where it surprised me. Usually it kind of
[1:06:44] Speaker 4: makes sense where i'say, okay, you're getting five tight ends,
[1:06:46] Speaker 4: but they're all in the final seven rounds of draft.
[1:06:49] Speaker 5: Like that is usually when it happens.
[1:06:50] Speaker 4: It's not usually when you have a Bowers of McBride,
[1:06:53] Speaker 4: But yeah, so sometimes I do. I do find that
[1:06:56] Speaker 4: I'm being recommended taking fourth and fifth tight end when
[1:06:59] Speaker 4: I'm like, this doesn't make any sense to me. I've
[1:07:01] Speaker 4: taken Brock Bauers and Harold Fannin and Dalton Schultz, and
[1:07:05] Speaker 4: why do I need a fourth tight end here?
[1:07:07] Speaker 5: But occasionally I just give in and do it anyway.
[1:07:10] Speaker 3: The beefier tight end room approach, if you want to
[1:07:13] Speaker 3: call it, that makes sense when you factor in what
[1:07:17] Speaker 3: you just said about where we're at in the off season,
[1:07:21] Speaker 3: right or you know, we don't have clarity in a
[1:07:24] Speaker 3: lot of these running back rooms and even wide receiver rooms,
[1:07:27] Speaker 3: but we do get these usable, startable tight ends late
[1:07:30] Speaker 3: that we'll be able to find our lineup more frequently,
[1:07:33] Speaker 3: probably than some of the other running backs and wide
[1:07:35] Speaker 3: receivers that we would be drafting. But then on top
[1:07:37] Speaker 3: of that, it is easy to forget that the tight
[1:07:40] Speaker 3: end can find your flex right, Like, it's not like
[1:07:42] Speaker 3: you're only using that player in the singular tight ends,
[1:07:46] Speaker 3: but now they generally score a fewer points than the
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: other positions do, but there's still the possibility. It's a
[1:07:52] Speaker 3: full PPR platform where like tight end can match running
[1:07:55] Speaker 3: back in some way, especially a late round running back
[1:07:56] Speaker 3: in some weeks and such. So I haven't gotten up
[1:07:58] Speaker 3: to five, and I've done four or frequently because like
[1:08:01] Speaker 3: when I can get like Terrence Ferguson type players in
[1:08:04] Speaker 3: the nineteenth round, like when I feel confident or Pat Fryarmouth,
[1:08:08] Speaker 3: when I feel confident that those guys are gonna have
[1:08:11] Speaker 3: some role, I do like kind of kind of putting
[1:08:13] Speaker 3: that together and not having to worry about the position
[1:08:16] Speaker 3: as early. But it's interesting that you've done it, you know,
[1:08:19] Speaker 3: based on what some of the sims are saying, even
[1:08:21] Speaker 3: with some of the earlier round tight ends.
[1:08:23] Speaker 1: So it's a really interesting approach.
[1:08:25] Speaker 4: Yeah, honestly, that's one that's like I never love doing it,
[1:08:27] Speaker 4: Like I even when I'm using the simulations tool. I
[1:08:30] Speaker 4: want the team to make sense to me. I want
[1:08:32] Speaker 4: the pick to be like, Okay, that's a pick that
[1:08:34] Speaker 4: I like, I want to make that pick. So sometimes
[1:08:36] Speaker 4: i'll ik be off of the sims suggestion, but sometimes
[1:08:39] Speaker 4: like just to kind of follow, like see what the
[1:08:41] Speaker 4: sims will do and then try.
[1:08:43] Speaker 5: To figure out why they did what they did.
[1:08:45] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:08:45] Speaker 5: So yeah, it can be fun to kind.
[1:08:47] Speaker 4: Of make teams that you wouldn't otherwise draft because I'll
[1:08:50] Speaker 4: do some drafts where it's just like I'm just doing
[1:08:51] Speaker 4: what I want to do throughout the draft, and then
[1:08:53] Speaker 4: I'll have a mix of these that it's like, I
[1:08:55] Speaker 4: don't know why this team makes any sense at all,
[1:08:57] Speaker 4: but this is what the sims are saying, So I
[1:08:59] Speaker 4: guess I'll do it this time.
[1:09:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it. I love it all right. I
[1:09:02] Speaker 1: get a question all the time from listeners. Do you
[1:09:03] Speaker 1: care about Bye Weeks?
[1:09:05] Speaker 5: Yeah?
[1:09:06] Speaker 4: I feel like this is a loaded question where you
[1:09:08] Speaker 4: want me to answer no, in part because I've heard
[1:09:10] Speaker 4: you say that you don't care about by Weeks.
[1:09:12] Speaker 1: Look, I want your true genuine answer to this.
[1:09:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, my true genuine answer is yes, I do. Actually
[1:09:18] Speaker 4: I do care about Bie Weeks. You know I've been
[1:09:20] Speaker 4: I've been doing Best Ball content for a few years now,
[1:09:22] Speaker 4: and a few years ago that was sort of like
[1:09:25] Speaker 4: my my thing. Like people knew me as the bye
[1:09:27] Speaker 4: week guy. Neil is the guy who cares about bie weeks.
[1:09:29] Speaker 4: He's always breaking every tie based on bye weeks I have.
[1:09:33] Speaker 4: I've become a bit less bi week pilled over time,
[1:09:36] Speaker 4: but I do think like so it's different to me.
[1:09:39] Speaker 4: It's a pretty big difference between best ball in redraft.
[1:09:42] Speaker 4: I don't care at all in redraft because in a
[1:09:43] Speaker 4: redraft you can just pick somebody up off the waivers
[1:09:45] Speaker 4: to fill in your bye week, but best ball, like
[1:09:47] Speaker 4: you can't do that. So to me, it's just like
[1:09:49] Speaker 4: a matter of I'm trying to find stack every little
[1:09:52] Speaker 4: edge i can find to beat this room of twelve opponents,
[1:09:56] Speaker 4: being the top two of the twelve opponents in my room,
[1:09:59] Speaker 4: and that's one of those edges that you can stack.
[1:10:01] Speaker 4: Is just like I'm not going to take a zero
[1:10:03] Speaker 4: at quarterback, and ideally I'm not gonna take a zero
[1:10:06] Speaker 4: at tight end, and ideally I'm going to have like
[1:10:09] Speaker 4: multiple players that can cover every week at every position.
[1:10:12] Speaker 4: So it is it is something that I pay attention to,
[1:10:15] Speaker 4: but I also acknowledge that part of the reason that
[1:10:19] Speaker 4: I maybe pay more attention to somebody like yourself. You've
[1:10:22] Speaker 4: been doing fantasy football analysis for I don't know, a decade, yeah, decade,
[1:10:27] Speaker 4: a really long time at this point, so you're almost
[1:10:30] Speaker 4: certainly better than I am at picking players just just
[1:10:33] Speaker 4: like finding like the profiles and layer in the profiles
[1:10:36] Speaker 4: together of players, whereas I'm more of like I come
[1:10:39] Speaker 4: from DFS, Like I have been playing fantasy football for
[1:10:42] Speaker 4: three decades. I've had a lot of success at it,
[1:10:43] Speaker 4: so I don't want to, you know, downplay my strengths also,
[1:10:46] Speaker 4: but I feel like my strength is more in the
[1:10:48] Speaker 4: like game theory and try to find other little edges,
[1:10:52] Speaker 4: whereas I think like you are elite at like find
[1:10:55] Speaker 4: picking players and ranking best of like fantasy football players,
[1:10:59] Speaker 4: in which gay, if you're really good at that, then
[1:11:01] Speaker 4: maybe your edge is actually in just like finding all
[1:11:04] Speaker 4: of the best players and stacking all those best players together.
[1:11:07] Speaker 4: So I think it makes more sense for those of
[1:11:09] Speaker 4: us who have not been you know, doing fantasy football
[1:11:12] Speaker 4: content and you know, creating a zap model, you know,
[1:11:15] Speaker 4: all of this for a long time, maybe makes more
[1:11:17] Speaker 4: sense for me to focus more on the minutia stuff,
[1:11:20] Speaker 4: the little edges that I can find, as opposed to Yeah,
[1:11:22] Speaker 4: I just think this player is way better than this player.
[1:11:24] Speaker 5: So I'm not gonna worry about the bye week.
[1:11:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, just another thing for us to worry about, guys,
[1:11:29] Speaker 3: Just just another thing for us to think about as
[1:11:31] Speaker 3: we're drafting these teams.
[1:11:32] Speaker 1: All right, One question I do want to ask.
[1:11:34] Speaker 3: Before I get your bold take, because I love asking
[1:11:37] Speaker 3: about the bold takes too. The round four to five
[1:11:40] Speaker 3: range of wide receiver, which, by the way, we were
[1:11:42] Speaker 3: in a draft together. I didn't even realize it until
[1:11:44] Speaker 3: we were in like round three or four, but we
[1:11:46] Speaker 3: were in a draft together the other day. I loved
[1:11:48] Speaker 3: your team. You guys drafted a great team. Mine was
[1:11:51] Speaker 3: kind of whatever. It was fine. It was one that
[1:11:53] Speaker 3: I walked away from them, like this is at least usable,
[1:11:55] Speaker 3: Like I don't think it's a dead team. But in
[1:11:57] Speaker 3: that draft I was really mad because at the four
[1:11:59] Speaker 3: or five turn, you Tookarry McLaurin and Jalen Waddle, and
[1:12:01] Speaker 3: I had taken Luther Burden at four or eleven, hoping
[1:12:05] Speaker 3: that maybe one of them would come back around and
[1:12:07] Speaker 3: I could get one of them, because I like both
[1:12:09] Speaker 3: Jalen Wattle and Luther Burden and Terry McLaurin quite a bit,
[1:12:12] Speaker 3: but that four to five round range maybe or maybe
[1:12:15] Speaker 3: like late third because of the way that ADP is
[1:12:17] Speaker 3: sort of like changed and morphed, like where you know
[1:12:20] Speaker 3: Lad Goes or z A Flowers at this point that
[1:12:23] Speaker 3: whole group. Are there any favorites that you have from
[1:12:25] Speaker 3: that group or are there any guys that you just
[1:12:27] Speaker 3: don't like? Because to me, I look at all these
[1:12:29] Speaker 3: wide receiver profiles and I'm like, yep, I can get
[1:12:31] Speaker 3: behind that, Yep, I can get behind that, And I
[1:12:33] Speaker 3: really want the wide receivers in that range so much,
[1:12:36] Speaker 3: And I'm just curious if there are any guys that
[1:12:38] Speaker 3: like really stand out to you or if you're just
[1:12:40] Speaker 3: kind of even with those guys.
[1:12:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we already kind of like Jalen Wattle
[1:12:44] Speaker 4: to me has been a pretty big target just because
[1:12:47] Speaker 4: he goes so late. So I have over twenty percent
[1:12:51] Speaker 4: Jalen Wattle on DraftKings. He's the one that really stands
[1:12:53] Speaker 4: out to me. I'm big time. I have zero percent
[1:12:57] Speaker 4: of DJ Moore so far since you open it up
[1:12:59] Speaker 4: to face, I just have not been doing DJ Moore
[1:13:02] Speaker 4: at all. I just like the profile is not great,
[1:13:05] Speaker 4: and I know he's going to Buffalo. He's playing with
[1:13:07] Speaker 4: Josh Allen, so maybe he revives his career. But like
[1:13:09] Speaker 4: he had not a ton of tart competition early in
[1:13:12] Speaker 4: the year last year with Caleb Williams playing pretty well,
[1:13:14] Speaker 4: I didn't really do anything, so you know, And sometimes
[1:13:18] Speaker 4: I like betting on the like resurrecting their career, like
[1:13:21] Speaker 4: the bounce back for a wide receiver, especially who changes teams.
[1:13:24] Speaker 4: But so far I have not been doing that with
[1:13:27] Speaker 4: DJ Moore, so he's a pretty big fade. But yeah,
[1:13:29] Speaker 4: the favorites for me Jalen Waddle and I kind of
[1:13:31] Speaker 4: like the old guys Devanta Adams and Mike Evans. Just
[1:13:34] Speaker 4: I think the price is really fair for players who
[1:13:37] Speaker 4: should have a lot of receptions and a lot of
[1:13:38] Speaker 4: touchdowns this season. The more kind of off the wall
[1:13:43] Speaker 4: one for me would be Christian Watson is somebody that
[1:13:45] Speaker 4: I feel like I'm buying in more than most just
[1:13:48] Speaker 4: because he was so efficient last year. Loses a couple teammates,
[1:13:53] Speaker 4: so I could see Christian Watson being an even bigger
[1:13:55] Speaker 4: focal point of the Packers offense this year.
[1:13:58] Speaker 5: And I like the price.
[1:13:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, I just love that range.
[1:14:00] Speaker 3: The whole range is like, I can tell a story
[1:14:02] Speaker 3: about all these guys, but it's funny. I agree with
[1:14:04] Speaker 3: you totally. Like the one guy that I have a
[1:14:06] Speaker 3: hard time clicking. It's probably because I haven't gotten super
[1:14:09] Speaker 3: crazy with Josh Allen either, but it's DJ Moore right,
[1:14:11] Speaker 3: Like his his last two season peripherals have been pretty horrendous,
[1:14:15] Speaker 3: and it's just a scary bet to make whenever it's
[1:14:18] Speaker 3: amongst so many other good wide receivers. Like to me,
[1:14:22] Speaker 3: DJ Moore would be clickable in like the early to
[1:14:24] Speaker 3: mid sixth right where he just goes around or two
[1:14:27] Speaker 3: before that often, you know, and I think part of
[1:14:29] Speaker 3: it is probably the Josh Allen stacking stuff, but also
[1:14:33] Speaker 3: you know, people are like, I can see where this
[1:14:35] Speaker 3: goes south. Where where both of us are sitting down,
[1:14:38] Speaker 3: you know, in January, and we're like, why did we
[1:14:40] Speaker 3: do that? Like it's a it's a a guy who
[1:14:43] Speaker 3: has a backbone that's that's playing in a Josh Allen
[1:14:45] Speaker 3: led offense. So like, I understand where it can go south,
[1:14:47] Speaker 3: But a lot of the trends and the stuff that
[1:14:49] Speaker 3: his historically worked for these players and like where they
[1:14:52] Speaker 3: hit in this range, DJ Moore does not check those Boxes.
[1:14:55] Speaker 1: So I'm with you on that one.
[1:14:56] Speaker 3: But before I let you go, I need I need
[1:14:59] Speaker 3: your your your old take for this season, whether it's
[1:15:02] Speaker 3: player or roster construction anything. I just need I need
[1:15:05] Speaker 3: some some fire for me.
[1:15:06] Speaker 5: Neil.
[1:15:07] Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been going back and forth on like do
[1:15:09] Speaker 4: I want to just a player take on like AJ
[1:15:12] Speaker 4: Brown or Jonathan Brooks. I've been toying with the idea
[1:15:15] Speaker 4: of the winning three million dollar team has already been
[1:15:18] Speaker 4: drafted because it kind of ties in all these players together,
[1:15:21] Speaker 4: because there was a period where all of Jonathan Brooks,
[1:15:24] Speaker 4: A J. Brown, Brock Bauers. You get all of them
[1:15:26] Speaker 4: like at a pretty nice range together. I'm gonna I'm
[1:15:29] Speaker 4: gonna go Jonathan Brooks.
[1:15:29] Speaker 5: I'm just gonna go.
[1:15:30] Speaker 4: Jonathan Brooks outscores Chewba Hubbard on the season and is
[1:15:35] Speaker 4: a league winner. Is the player that you need in
[1:15:37] Speaker 4: the playoff weeks.
[1:15:38] Speaker 3: I love it. I love that take, Neil. This is
[1:15:40] Speaker 3: great as always. Let everyone know where they can find you,
