[0:00] Speaker 1: Now here's a highlight from Coast to Coast AM on iHeartRadio.
[0:05] Speaker 2: And welcome back. George Norrie with you. Victoria Gross with us. Psychic, medium,
[0:09] Speaker 2: and paranormal investigator. She's the author of the book Ghosts
[0:12] Speaker 2: of Orange County and featured in the Ghost of Hollywood
[0:14] Speaker 2: book series by Maria Brooks. Victoria was also the story
[0:18] Speaker 2: producer on the television series My Ghost Story and the
[0:22] Speaker 2: show An Unknown Encounter. Tonight we talk about Hauntings worldwide
[0:27] Speaker 2: on Coast to Coast. Victoria, welcome to the program.
[0:30] Speaker 3: Well, thank you for having me. It's good to be here.
[0:34] Speaker 2: This is your first time on the show ever, isn't it?
[0:37] Speaker 3: Yes, it is.
[0:39] Speaker 2: Are you a regular listener?
[0:41] Speaker 3: Yes, I am. I've been listening to Coast to Coast,
[0:44] Speaker 3: I remember, probably since the 90s.
[0:48] Speaker 2: It goes way back to the Art Bell days.
[0:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, right. It was right after Art Bell, yeah.
[0:54] Speaker 2: Tell us a little bit more about you and your background.
[0:57] Speaker 3: Well, my background is I am a psychic and a
[1:00] Speaker 3: medium and paranormal investigator. I was the story producer on
[1:05] Speaker 3: My Ghost Story, the first two specials and the first season,
[1:10] Speaker 3: and then the story producer on Case Files Unknown, which
[1:14] Speaker 3: aired on Destination America in 2015. And I started not.
[1:22] Speaker 3: I started my psychic work probably about 40 years ago,
[1:26] Speaker 3: not realizing that's what I was going to be doing.
[1:31] Speaker 3: I was looking for a church, and I just moved
[1:33] Speaker 3: to Corona here in California, and I found a church
[1:38] Speaker 3: called Corona Light. And I thought, well, that's good. It's
[1:40] Speaker 3: the name of a beer. I'll go there. And it
[1:42] Speaker 3: was a great spiritualist church. So that's what started me
[1:46] Speaker 3: in my training doing psychic work. I do palmistry, crystal gazing, tarot,
[1:54] Speaker 3: and I also teach different things on metaphysics.
[1:57] Speaker 2: That's fantastic. And how did you key in on Ghosts
[2:01] Speaker 2: of Orange County out there in California?
[2:06] Speaker 3: I was featured in Marla Brooks' book series, The Ghosts
[2:10] Speaker 3: of Hollywood, the three books. And so... Schiffer, publisher, contacted
[2:16] Speaker 3: me to do a book on Orange County because there
[2:19] Speaker 3: were so many different places. And a lot of the
[2:23] Speaker 3: stories in the book were my own, but I have
[2:25] Speaker 3: also used other people and, of course, given them credit
[2:30] Speaker 3: with that, their stories.
[2:33] Speaker 2: How many ghosts are in Orange County, Victoria?
[2:36] Speaker 3: Oh, I think there's a lot. I think there's a
[2:40] Speaker 3: lot of ghosts everywhere. You know, my Being a paranormal investigator,
[2:45] Speaker 3: I was really blessed to work with some wonderful groups.
[2:49] Speaker 3: The first group I worked with was Rob Wodowski, who
[2:54] Speaker 3: is an archaeologist. And to be honest, I wasn't really
[2:58] Speaker 3: interested in hunting for ghosts. He's an archaeologist, and so
[3:03] Speaker 3: we would just do... these old homes and just like
[3:11] Speaker 3: Rosemary Clooney's home and just different places that we could
[3:15] Speaker 3: go into. And being an antique dealer, I always loved
[3:18] Speaker 3: the antique part of it. And so part of the
[3:22] Speaker 3: joke was after a while, they would send me in
[3:24] Speaker 3: first just to get that out of my system because
[3:26] Speaker 3: I'm looking at all the old tiles and everything. And
[3:30] Speaker 3: then I go back and look for the ghost. So
[3:33] Speaker 3: with With that, you know, it just got my interest
[3:37] Speaker 3: more into working on these paranormal investigations, but also hearing
[3:45] Speaker 3: the stories of people for my book. And when we
[3:49] Speaker 3: were doing the shows, hearing those stories, because everybody has
[3:53] Speaker 3: a ghost story if they know it or not. So
[3:56] Speaker 3: in Orange County, L.A. County, we have a lot.
[4:00] Speaker 2: In your paranormal investigations, what is the strangest story you've
[4:06] Speaker 2: come across?
[4:10] Speaker 3: Well, I would say the strangest would be from one
[4:14] Speaker 3: of the shows that I was a producer on. And
[4:19] Speaker 3: that would have been the Ghost That Scream that we
[4:22] Speaker 3: did on Destination America. Barry Conrad is the creator of
[4:26] Speaker 3: that show. And I worked with him on that. And
[4:30] Speaker 3: that was a story that came out of Minneapolis from
[4:33] Speaker 3: a psychic, Echo Bodine. and a police officer, Brian Coyle.
[4:38] Speaker 3: This happened in 1984. And this is where, and it's
[4:42] Speaker 3: all over the internet now, where you can actually see
[4:46] Speaker 3: the image of the spirit of the boy after he
[4:50] Speaker 3: was killed in a car accident. I think that was
[4:53] Speaker 3: probably the most unsettling story that I've ever done. And
[4:59] Speaker 3: we have so many photographs that were taken by the
[5:03] Speaker 3: police officer. And at that time, there was no computer.
[5:07] Speaker 3: These were all developed by the police lab. So they
[5:11] Speaker 3: weren't forged or faked or anything like that. But they
[5:14] Speaker 3: were really incredible, incredible photographs. And I think of a
[5:20] Speaker 3: spirit that left the body at the time of the accident.
[5:24] Speaker 3: So I think that would be one of the most
[5:28] Speaker 3: heartwarming about stories I worked on. As far as an investigation,
[5:33] Speaker 3: one of the most kind of creepiest stories, I have two.
[5:39] Speaker 3: One was the Hollywood Wax Museum, but the first one
[5:42] Speaker 3: was at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, California. It was
[5:48] Speaker 3: with Rob's group. And what we did, we were doing
[5:51] Speaker 3: an experiment because we had previously done an investigation at
[5:57] Speaker 3: a mortuary in Pasadena that was now being used as
[6:01] Speaker 3: an office. And these people were wondering why they were
[6:04] Speaker 3: so tired all the time. It was like, well, it
[6:07] Speaker 3: was a no brainer. It's a mortuary. So we took
[6:11] Speaker 3: the EVP from that. And when we were doing an
[6:15] Speaker 3: investigation at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, we thought, OK,
[6:20] Speaker 3: let's play the EVP from the mortuary to see if
[6:24] Speaker 3: there's anything that's going to change because the plumber is
[6:26] Speaker 3: also very haunted in its own way. So we were
[6:29] Speaker 3: sitting up in the balcony and. And as we're playing
[6:34] Speaker 3: the EVP, you could just hear, you could just sense
[6:37] Speaker 3: the whole vibration of the place changed and it got
[6:40] Speaker 3: very heavy. And then all of a sudden over the
[6:44] Speaker 3: balcony wall, a hand just appeared just for a split
[6:48] Speaker 3: second and then it was gone. So that was pretty,
[6:53] Speaker 3: I thought, interesting, you know, and a little scary also.
[6:58] Speaker 2: What have you concluded, Victoria, about what all this is
[7:01] Speaker 2: and what it means?
[7:03] Speaker 3: Well, I think it means a lot of different things
[7:06] Speaker 3: because there's so many different types of hauntings. There's so many,
[7:10] Speaker 3: you know, we've got your residual haunting, which is like
[7:13] Speaker 3: a video tape recorder. You know, the famous story of
[7:18] Speaker 3: the woman walking down the stairs in a white dress
[7:21] Speaker 3: at nine o'clock every night in a haunted place. That
[7:24] Speaker 3: would be your video recording of an incident, maybe a tragic,
[7:29] Speaker 3: a very traumatic incident that happened there that is imprinted
[7:34] Speaker 3: into the ethers. And then you have your intelligent hauntings,
[7:38] Speaker 3: which would be, you know, the actual spirit. And then
[7:42] Speaker 3: your portals of different places that would be opening to
[7:46] Speaker 3: different dimensions. And then your egregores or thought forms. And
[7:51] Speaker 3: those are, Those kind of hauntings, I call them also
[7:58] Speaker 3: bottom feeders because when a person dies, and I'm talking
[8:04] Speaker 3: about extreme, extreme addiction. then if they're not able to
[8:09] Speaker 3: cross over, they still need to feed off of the
[8:12] Speaker 3: living for their addiction. So that is, well, that's more
[8:17] Speaker 3: of the bottom feeder where a thought form is generated
[8:21] Speaker 3: by the atmosphere. There was a video I saw a
[8:25] Speaker 3: number of years ago on a protest. And out of
[8:30] Speaker 3: the protest, there was a black cloud that just rose
[8:36] Speaker 3: up and just swirled around. Now, that would be an egregore,
[8:39] Speaker 3: a thought form. Because that's from all the anger and
[8:44] Speaker 3: the frustration of that whole massive crowd with create that
[8:49] Speaker 3: thought form. But people can create thought forms just by having, again,
[8:56] Speaker 3: extreme addictions or, you know, extreme negativity, anything that's really
[9:02] Speaker 3: on the lower level of consciousness.
[9:06] Speaker 5: And I know you're going to want some after hearing this.
[9:07] Speaker 5: This is an amazing story. We've got Stephen and Malachi
[9:10] Speaker 5: Gregory in Nelson, New Zealand. I understand that Malachi, who's eight,
[9:15] Speaker 5: almost nine years old now, was suffering with Not just
[9:19] Speaker 5: one or two warts, but I mean a significant outbreak
[9:22] Speaker 5: of warts all over his body. So significant it impacted
[9:24] Speaker 5: his ability to really function.
[9:27] Speaker 6: Yeah, he was having trouble even holding a pencil to write.
[9:30] Speaker 6: It was Ty's book actually that got me thinking about it.
[9:33] Speaker 1: I'm not surprised. It is an amazing immunomodulator. And so
[9:37] Speaker 1: I can see that it would work.
[9:39] Speaker 5: And so at what point did you see that there
[9:41] Speaker 5: was actually improvement? Is it really going to work?
[9:44] Speaker 6: Well, look, we really started to notice it around 12
[9:46] Speaker 6: weeks later. you can see these things actually getting smaller
[9:50] Speaker 6: and smaller and then going down to where they're just
[9:53] Speaker 6: little red marks.
[9:54] Speaker 1: The whole things are gone.
[9:54] Speaker 6: And we're talking about once you know one the size
[9:57] Speaker 6: of a walnut i thought no way that's gonna wow
[10:00] Speaker 6: it's just been miraculous to see him get.
[10:02] Speaker 1: Into a pair of shoes yes How wonderful.
[10:05] Speaker 6: It's great to see him so happy and confident.
[10:08] Speaker 5: Absolutely wonderful.
[10:09] Speaker 1: Our friends that have seen it, they're just blown away.
[10:11] Speaker 2: Ty, this is awesome.
[10:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, this is awesome.
[10:14] Speaker 4: Another amazing story.
[10:15] Speaker 3: Why?
[10:15] Speaker 4: We're talking about carnivora. Call them to awaken your immune
[10:18] Speaker 4: system and protect yourself now.
[10:20] Speaker 2: Call 1-866-836-8735.
[10:24] Speaker 4: That's 1-866-836-8735 or visit carnivora.com. C-A-R-N-I-V-O-R-A carnivora.com.
[10:35] Speaker 2: Were you always a believer?
[10:40] Speaker 3: Well, I think so, but I can't say that I
[10:45] Speaker 3: was interested in ghost or even the psychic part. I'm,
[10:51] Speaker 3: Looking back, it explains my life. In fact, I just
[10:54] Speaker 3: reconnected a number of years ago with my childhood neighbor
[10:58] Speaker 3: who And she said, don't you remember when we were seven,
[11:01] Speaker 3: you would read everybody's palms on the porch?
[11:04] Speaker 2: That's seven years old. And I'm like, I.
[11:08] Speaker 3: Don't remember that. Or I would play, you know, witch
[11:12] Speaker 3: under the tree. And then come to find out many
[11:15] Speaker 3: years later, my ninth great grandmother, Margaret Scott, was hung. Actually,
[11:20] Speaker 3: it was yesterday, the anniversary, as one of the witches
[11:22] Speaker 3: in Salem. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
[11:26] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[11:26] Speaker 3: You know, I can't say I was psychic all my life,
[11:29] Speaker 3: but looking back at my life as a child, yeah,
[11:35] Speaker 3: it makes sense. And I had a UFO experience that
[11:39] Speaker 3: I didn't even know what it was until many years
[11:43] Speaker 3: later when I was speaking with someone else. But I was...
[11:47] Speaker 3: Just coming home from church, it was in the evening
[11:51] Speaker 3: and I was just laying down in the back seat
[11:54] Speaker 3: and all of a sudden I saw a beautiful gold
[11:58] Speaker 3: and purple gyroscope, very small, just following the car through
[12:04] Speaker 3: the window. And I'm just watching this follow all the
[12:09] Speaker 3: way home. And I don't know what this was. And
[12:11] Speaker 3: I never mentioned it until many years later. So I've
[12:15] Speaker 3: had these wonderful experiences not knowing what they were.
[12:20] Speaker 2: We're talking with Victoria Gross about hauntings. Her website is
[12:23] Speaker 2: linked up at coasttocoastam.com, tied to her book, Ghosts of
[12:27] Speaker 2: Orange County. These investigations that you conduct, do you bring
[12:33] Speaker 2: any special equipment with you?
[12:36] Speaker 3: I don't personally, but, you know, if I'm working with
[12:39] Speaker 3: the team, I've worked with Rob's team and North Orange
[12:41] Speaker 3: County Paranormal Society. They have their all their equipment, you know,
[12:47] Speaker 3: their cameras and their EMS and thermometers. So they all
[12:52] Speaker 3: bring the equipment. But I personally don't bring anything. I
[12:56] Speaker 3: just bring myself. You know, I may bring a pendulum
[12:59] Speaker 3: at times sometimes. And I have worked with the Ouija board,
[13:02] Speaker 3: which I'm okay doing. But usually, if I'm just out
[13:07] Speaker 3: on an investigation, I'm just going to be going in
[13:11] Speaker 3: not knowing anything about what it is I'm investigating and
[13:15] Speaker 3: just using my senses on that.
[13:19] Speaker 2: What have you concluded, Victoria, about what the spirit world
[13:23] Speaker 2: might be?
[13:23] Speaker 3: Oh, I think it might be a lot of different things.
[13:27] Speaker 3: It just depends. You know, I've always been taught, and
[13:30] Speaker 3: this is how I feel, that when we pass over,
[13:35] Speaker 3: our level of consciousness is where we're going to be. And,
[13:39] Speaker 3: you know, I think there's different layers. And it has
[13:43] Speaker 3: been my experience when people have died all of a sudden.
[13:51] Speaker 3: It has been my experience that I have seen them
[13:53] Speaker 3: in a hospital room on the other side because there
[13:56] Speaker 3: are people that do take care of them. There's nurses,
[14:00] Speaker 3: there's hospital rooms because they have to adjust to the
[14:06] Speaker 3: different dimensions. You know, I don't think we just die
[14:09] Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, we're there. I think we go
[14:12] Speaker 3: through different layers, so depending on our consciousness. But my
[14:17] Speaker 3: experiences have shown me that, especially if people have died tragically,
[14:24] Speaker 3: there are people on the other side that do help
[14:26] Speaker 3: them to adjust to their new surroundings. So it may
[14:30] Speaker 3: take more time for some people and it may not
[14:33] Speaker 3: for others.
[14:35] Speaker 2: Do you believe, Victoria, in evil spirits?
[14:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, and I was always taught, you know, just because
[14:43] Speaker 3: they're dead doesn't mean they're smart or nice, you know.
[14:47] Speaker 3: I think we have to be really cautious when we're
[14:51] Speaker 3: working with the paranormal that we do need to be
[14:55] Speaker 3: trained in whatever way that may be. I've been trained
[14:59] Speaker 3: as a medium at the Arthur Finley College, at the
[15:04] Speaker 3: church that I went to. I do believe that there
[15:08] Speaker 3: are the evil spirits. Now, I think so much has
[15:12] Speaker 3: been brought out like everything's a demon, and I don't
[15:15] Speaker 3: believe that. I think there are demons, but I think
[15:20] Speaker 3: if most people encountered them, they would be running the
[15:24] Speaker 3: other way. Not everything is a demon. You've got your
[15:27] Speaker 3: lower thought forms. You've got your egregores. You've got a
[15:31] Speaker 3: lot of lower entities. So, yeah. If there are bad
[15:36] Speaker 3: people here, they're going to be bad people there. So
[15:39] Speaker 3: we do need to know the terrain that we're walking
[15:42] Speaker 3: into just to go over and say, oh, I want
[15:45] Speaker 3: to do an investigation without even knowing anything or working
[15:50] Speaker 3: as a medium. You know, it can be very dangerous.
[15:53] Speaker 3: So it's nothing to really poo-poo or go in without
[15:59] Speaker 3: some type of education and knowledge of what we're doing.
[16:04] Speaker 2: Have you ever found yourself in a situation that you figured,
[16:07] Speaker 2: I better get out of this right now?
[16:11] Speaker 3: Yes. And, you know, that goes to really, it was
[16:17] Speaker 3: someplace here in Southern California a long time ago, and
[16:20] Speaker 3: it was a very creepy place. And how this does
[16:24] Speaker 3: affect us is that, yeah, you know, I did get
[16:27] Speaker 3: out of there, and some of the people that I
[16:29] Speaker 3: was with, we left. But I didn't know until a
[16:35] Speaker 3: couple weeks later because I got really depressed after that.
[16:39] Speaker 3: I just... It was hard to sleep. I got depressed.
[16:42] Speaker 3: And I even had a friend of mine tell me,
[16:44] Speaker 3: she goes, God, there's something wrong with you. I just
[16:47] Speaker 3: feel something really negative about you. And I'm like, well, thanks.
[16:50] Speaker 3: That makes me feel better. And then I was talking
[16:54] Speaker 3: to another medium that had also been on that same investigation.
[16:58] Speaker 3: And she was saying the same thing. And we're like, oh,
[17:01] Speaker 3: my gosh, no matter how much we protect herself or
[17:04] Speaker 3: say our prayers, things do happen. So we do have
[17:09] Speaker 3: to be aware of how it can affect us, definitely.
[17:16] Speaker 2: Have you ever been confronted by the devil?
[17:19] Speaker 6: No.
[17:23] Speaker 3: Worked with a couple in Hollywood, but not besides that.
[17:27] Speaker 3: But nothing evil?
[17:29] Speaker 2: I would say.
[17:36] Speaker 3: I felt evil around me, but not confronted by the devil.
[17:43] Speaker 3: I think I have a strong protection around me that,
[17:47] Speaker 3: you know, and I'm not one to really get off
[17:51] Speaker 3: on going into really gruesome places, you know, like, I mean.
[17:58] Speaker 3: I don't even want to go up to Alcatraz or anything.
[18:01] Speaker 3: I just don't try to get into those kind of environments,
[18:05] Speaker 3: though I wouldn't shy away if it was for a
[18:10] Speaker 3: legitimate reason. But just to go into a creepy environment,
[18:14] Speaker 3: it's like, you know what? Hey, you know, I work
[18:19] Speaker 3: in L.A. I work on Ventura Boulevard. We get a
[18:22] Speaker 3: lot of stuff there. So, you know, I have my
[18:25] Speaker 3: fill in this world. And so I try to maintain
[18:31] Speaker 3: not having that in this world and not having that
[18:34] Speaker 3: in the other world. But yeah, I mean, there is
[18:37] Speaker 3: evil and we do need to be aware of that.
[18:41] Speaker 2: Why would you say that in places of turmoil like Gettysburg,
[18:46] Speaker 2: where lots died during the Civil War, that it tends
[18:50] Speaker 2: to be haunted?
[18:53] Speaker 3: Well, you know, you've got so many people that died there.
[18:58] Speaker 3: And when we were doing my ghost story, we did
[19:01] Speaker 3: a really good clip. One of the guests that we
[19:04] Speaker 3: had had taken footage and it was like soldiers just
[19:09] Speaker 3: walking across the field. Now, were they the actual spirits
[19:14] Speaker 3: or was it more of the residual? So I think
[19:18] Speaker 3: when there is so much trauma that you're going to
[19:20] Speaker 3: get a lot of residual energy there. Because I think
[19:25] Speaker 3: it makes a ripple in the ethers. That's the only
[19:28] Speaker 3: way that I can explain it. It makes a ripple
[19:31] Speaker 3: in the ethers. So that trauma, and that was extreme
[19:34] Speaker 3: trauma with thousands of people, that it does stay. And
[19:42] Speaker 3: this footage that we saw from our guests when Barry
[19:46] Speaker 3: and I were doing my ghost story was really incredible.
[19:50] Speaker 3: incredible because you could just see them walking through the field.
