[0:00] Speaker 1: Now here's a highlight from Coast to Coast AM on iHeartRadio.
[0:05] Speaker 2: And welcome back, George Norrie, along with Dr. Judith Orloff,
[0:08] Speaker 2: our psychiatrist empath. Judith, psychic vampires, energy vampires, what are
[0:15] Speaker 2: they in your opinion?
[0:18] Speaker 3: Psychic vampires and energy vampires are people who have the
[0:23] Speaker 3: power to suck your energy dry. And you could feel them.
[0:28] Speaker 3: If you're around somebody and suddenly your energy starts to
[0:33] Speaker 3: go down, maybe it's slowly, maybe it's just very quickly,
[0:38] Speaker 3: you need to be aware of that intuitively so that
[0:41] Speaker 3: you honor that. And energy vampires can be narcissists. They
[0:48] Speaker 3: could be rageaholics. They can be vicious types, just people
[0:54] Speaker 3: who are mean-spirited and vicious and want to hurt you
[0:57] Speaker 3: in some way. Or they could be a chronic talker,
[1:01] Speaker 3: somebody who talks so much you can't get a word
[1:04] Speaker 3: in edgewise and your energy is going down. So everybody
[1:10] Speaker 3: can relate to that. And what happens in that situation
[1:13] Speaker 3: is somebody's talking and then you move back maybe a
[1:18] Speaker 3: foot or two and then they move forward. So they're
[1:22] Speaker 3: very crafty in terms of wanting to corner you so
[1:25] Speaker 3: that They might not look at the fact that they're
[1:28] Speaker 3: draining your energy. They might not, but they are. And
[1:32] Speaker 3: so it's important not to get cornered by them and
[1:35] Speaker 3: to be able to set boundaries at that time and say,
[1:38] Speaker 3: you know, I have to go on and talk with
[1:40] Speaker 3: these people now. It was nice talking to you and
[1:43] Speaker 3: just exit. It's very important to do that. Empaths are
[1:46] Speaker 3: terrible at doing that. They're so polite. They just want
[1:49] Speaker 3: to stand there and listen forever, which is not healthy.
[1:53] Speaker 3: And so it's important as an empath, as a sensitive person,
[1:57] Speaker 3: to identify these energy vampires. We're talking about the chronic
[2:01] Speaker 3: talker now. But know that they're real. And just because
[2:05] Speaker 3: they seem benign, if your energy is going down, that's
[2:09] Speaker 3: what's important because that could lead to a lot of things.
[2:11] Speaker 3: If you're chronically around energy vampires and they're sucking at
[2:17] Speaker 3: you and you're not doing anything to protect yourself, it
[2:20] Speaker 3: can affect your health and your well-being. And so, first
[2:24] Speaker 3: of all, you want to identify who the energy vampires are,
[2:28] Speaker 3: to ask yourself, to look around in your life and say,
[2:31] Speaker 3: who are the people, if I have any at all,
[2:34] Speaker 3: that are draining me? And to be very honest about that,
[2:38] Speaker 3: you're not necessarily judging them. You want to just identify
[2:43] Speaker 3: who they are so you can develop strategies to stop
[2:47] Speaker 3: this from happening. You don't want to allow people to
[2:50] Speaker 3: drain your energy. It just is not healthy. And it's
[2:55] Speaker 3: something that, you know, you as part of self-care, as
[2:58] Speaker 3: far as I'm concerned, you know, just identifying the people
[3:01] Speaker 3: in your life who maybe aren't so good for you,
[3:04] Speaker 3: you know, or maybe you're just not compatible with energetically.
[3:08] Speaker 3: But whatever it is, ask yourself with anybody. You know,
[3:12] Speaker 3: as an empath, I have to do this all the time. Otherwise,
[3:15] Speaker 3: my energy would be drained. Where I have to say,
[3:18] Speaker 3: is this relationship, this energy, even if it's just for
[3:21] Speaker 3: a short period of time, something positive. Is my energy
[3:25] Speaker 3: going up? This is, you know, the opposite of an
[3:29] Speaker 3: energy vampire. Do I feel better? Do I feel close
[3:33] Speaker 3: to the person? Do I feel like I'm more energized
[3:38] Speaker 3: around this person? Am I drawn to this person? Whatever,
[3:41] Speaker 3: you know, as opposed to being drained. So you want
[3:44] Speaker 3: to ask yourself that. And so everyone who's listening, who's
[3:47] Speaker 3: interested in changing this about their lives and wants to
[3:50] Speaker 3: deal with the energy vampires, this is wonderful. Now, as
[3:54] Speaker 3: a psychiatrist, it's very important to me that my patients
[4:01] Speaker 3: make sure that they're accountable for who they're with and
[4:04] Speaker 3: what relationships they get in and who's draining them and
[4:07] Speaker 3: who isn't, and be able to take steps that are
[4:10] Speaker 3: positive with those that are draining their energy, perhaps limit
[4:15] Speaker 3: contact with them, or at least identify who they are.
[4:19] Speaker 3: That's really important and it's so good for your well-being
[4:23] Speaker 3: and it's part of your intuitive self and your empath
[4:26] Speaker 3: self because as an empath if i didn't do this
[4:30] Speaker 3: if i wasn't aware if i just went out doors
[4:33] Speaker 3: every day and went into the world and i wasn't
[4:36] Speaker 3: aware i didn't acknowledge who was gaining me who was
[4:39] Speaker 3: giving me energy and really just feel that intuitively you
[4:44] Speaker 3: know i don't think i would you know be as
[4:48] Speaker 3: energized as i usually am you know i i want
[4:52] Speaker 3: to feel well i want to be happy i want
[4:54] Speaker 3: to use my intuition i want to use my empathy
[4:58] Speaker 3: and um be able to just say what isn't working
[5:01] Speaker 3: in my life too and that can include these energy
[5:05] Speaker 3: vampires um you know one of which is is a
[5:09] Speaker 3: narcissist i know george you have mentioned that before that
[5:11] Speaker 3: you wanted to talk about the narcissist because The narcissist
[5:17] Speaker 3: is very common and it's all over our world. We're
[5:22] Speaker 3: getting so many examples of narcissists on the world stage,
[5:26] Speaker 3: on a personal stage. People are just experiencing them. So
[5:29] Speaker 3: they're learning a lot about narcissists. But narcissists are people
[5:33] Speaker 3: who have what is called empathy deficient disorder. And this
[5:38] Speaker 3: means that they're not capable of having empathy as we
[5:42] Speaker 3: know it. And this is really, really important that you
[5:45] Speaker 3: know this. Because a narcissist can be very self-absorbed. They
[5:50] Speaker 3: can be very charming as well. And they present a
[5:54] Speaker 3: false kind of empathy where they're not exactly pretending, but
[5:59] Speaker 3: they know how to charm you into believing that they
[6:02] Speaker 3: really understand you and that they are the person you've
[6:06] Speaker 3: been looking for.
[6:07] Speaker 2: A lot of psychic vampires do this. as you mentioned,
[6:12] Speaker 2: don't even know they're doing it, do they?
[6:14] Speaker 3: That's true. No, they don't even know. Some are just
[6:18] Speaker 3: born with this capacity where they come into the world,
[6:22] Speaker 3: and it could be partly narcissism, where they don't look
[6:26] Speaker 3: at it that way. They don't say, oh, I'm lacking empathy,
[6:30] Speaker 3: and it's something I want to develop. They think they
[6:32] Speaker 3: have it. And if a narcissist, you know, and the
[6:37] Speaker 3: narcissist's partner come into me as a therapist, and they
[6:40] Speaker 3: want to have psychotherapy, it's almost impossible because the narcissist
[6:45] Speaker 3: will always say it's your fault. The narcissist is never
[6:49] Speaker 3: accountable for the part they might play in a relationship.
[6:54] Speaker 3: So it's difficult to deal with them. And especially if
[6:57] Speaker 3: they don't know what they're doing, you know, if they
[7:00] Speaker 3: don't have that consciousness of this is what I'm doing
[7:03] Speaker 3: and I'm consciously charming this person or setting off love bombs,
[7:06] Speaker 3: you know, in order to charm them and reel them in.
[7:10] Speaker 3: They might not think about it exactly that way. They
[7:13] Speaker 3: might just think themselves as irresistible. And so that's why
[7:17] Speaker 3: it's all happening. But they're not saying, oh, I have
[7:19] Speaker 3: a lack of empathy and this disturbs me. They think
[7:22] Speaker 3: they are. So they don't have a real sense of reality.
[7:29] Speaker 4: And I know you're going to want some after hearing this.
[7:30] Speaker 4: This is an amazing story. We've got Stephen and Malachi
[7:33] Speaker 4: Gregory in Nelson, New Zealand. I understand that Malachi, who's eight,
[7:38] Speaker 4: almost nine years old now, was suffering with not just
[7:42] Speaker 4: one or two warts, but I mean a significant outbreak
[7:45] Speaker 4: of warts all over his body. So significant it impacted
[7:47] Speaker 4: his ability to to really function.
[7:49] Speaker 5: Yeah yeah he was having trouble even holding a pencil
[7:52] Speaker 5: to write it was ty's book actually that got me
[7:55] Speaker 5: thinking about it i'm.
[7:56] Speaker 4: Not surprised it is a an amazing immunomodulator and so
[8:00] Speaker 4: i can see that it would work and so at
[8:02] Speaker 4: what point did you see that there was actually improvement
[8:05] Speaker 4: is really going to work.
[8:07] Speaker 5: Well look we really started to notice it around 12
[8:08] Speaker 5: weeks you can see these things actually getting smaller and
[8:13] Speaker 5: smaller and then going down to the where they're just
[8:16] Speaker 5: little red marks, the whole things are gone. And we're
[8:18] Speaker 5: talking about one the size of a walnut. I thought,
[8:21] Speaker 5: no way that's going to.
[8:22] Speaker 1: Wow.
[8:22] Speaker 6: It's just been miraculous to see him get into a
[8:25] Speaker 6: pair of shoes.
[8:26] Speaker 3: Yes.
[8:27] Speaker 1: How wonderful.
[8:28] Speaker 6: It's great to see him so happy and confident.
[8:31] Speaker 4: Absolutely wonderful.
[8:32] Speaker 6: Our friends that have seen it, they're just blown away.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Ty, this is awesome.
[8:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, this is awesome.
[8:37] Speaker 2: Another amazing story.
[8:38] Speaker 4: Why?
[8:38] Speaker 7: We're talking about carnivora. Call them to awaken your immune
[8:41] Speaker 7: system and protect yourself now.
[8:43] Speaker 2: Call 1-866-836-8735.
[8:47] Speaker 7: That's 1-866-836-8735 or visit carnivora.com. C-A-R-N-I-V-O-R-A, carnivora.com.
[8:58] Speaker 2: I knew a psychic vampire who asked me for help
[9:03] Speaker 2: one day and it worked. He would bore the living
[9:07] Speaker 2: daylights out of people by just sitting next to them.
[9:10] Speaker 2: It was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like this. When
[9:13] Speaker 2: he talked, it was even worse. And you could see
[9:16] Speaker 2: people just try to mingle and walk away from this guy.
[9:20] Speaker 2: And one day he called me and he said, George,
[9:23] Speaker 2: I need a favor. You're into a lot of this.
[9:27] Speaker 2: Is there something wrong with me? And I said, what
[9:29] Speaker 2: do you mean, physically? And he said, no, I mean,
[9:33] Speaker 2: I'm with people at a party, at a group, sitting
[9:38] Speaker 2: at a bar, at a lounge, and they always leave me.
[9:42] Speaker 2: They walk away within minutes. What am I doing wrong?
[9:46] Speaker 2: And I told her, and I'll say, Bob, just for
[9:50] Speaker 2: lack of a name, I said, Bob, you're a psychic
[9:54] Speaker 2: energy vampire. You're sucking the energy from these people who
[9:58] Speaker 2: are around you. I happen to know what he was,
[10:01] Speaker 2: and it never affected me. And I want to ask
[10:04] Speaker 2: you about that in a minute. But I said, you
[10:07] Speaker 2: need to change your direction about people. Don't bore them
[10:12] Speaker 2: so much. Don't wander on. Don't keep talking, as you mentioned.
[10:17] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[10:18] Speaker 2: Just interject yourself slightly and, you know, listen to them.
[10:24] Speaker 2: And he did. And he worked at it. And he changed.
[10:27] Speaker 2: And he changed. They can change, can't they?
[10:32] Speaker 3: Some of them can change. The narcissists really don't change.
[10:38] Speaker 3: You know, what happens is the empath feels that they
[10:42] Speaker 3: could change the narcissist. I've had so many conversations over
[10:45] Speaker 3: the years with empaths who are just Vince, they found
[10:48] Speaker 3: their soulmate or they found their soul friend, and they're
[10:53] Speaker 3: going to change them. They're going to help heal them.
[10:55] Speaker 3: They're going to love them. And with a narcissist, they
[11:00] Speaker 3: have a neurological difference. They don't have empathy. And empaths
[11:06] Speaker 3: can't get that. A lot of them really can't get that.
[11:09] Speaker 3: And so they have to live through the painful experience
[11:13] Speaker 3: of getting involved with a narcissist. But the fellow that
[11:16] Speaker 3: you talked about, didn't sound like a narcissist because he
[11:20] Speaker 3: was really open to looking at his part and draining
[11:23] Speaker 3: all these people. And he would see all these people
[11:25] Speaker 3: walking away. That was an incredible story. I mean, it's
[11:27] Speaker 3: very visual. He could see it and he wanted to
[11:32] Speaker 3: be liked by people and he didn't want people to
[11:34] Speaker 3: walk away, but he had no insight into himself until
[11:37] Speaker 3: you gave it to him, which was a very direct
[11:40] Speaker 3: way of helping him.
[11:43] Speaker 2: Now, why didn't it seem to affect me being around him?
[11:48] Speaker 3: It sounds like you had a lot of empathy for
[11:50] Speaker 3: a situation where you saw him and you saw people
[11:56] Speaker 3: leaving him and you heard him and that nobody would
[12:01] Speaker 3: stay with him. And he asked you, well, how can
[12:03] Speaker 3: I change? Can I change this? And you said yes.
[12:07] Speaker 3: So I think it was a very therapeutic intervention, George.
[12:10] Speaker 2: Could I be immune to vampires?
[12:12] Speaker 3: Are you susceptible to some vampires?
[12:16] Speaker 5: Yes.
[12:20] Speaker 2: Interesting. There was a situation years ago. I was with Tommy,
[12:25] Speaker 2: my producer in Las Vegas, and we were sitting at
[12:29] Speaker 2: a blackjack table that had somewhat of a roulette wheel
[12:35] Speaker 2: attached to it. It was a different kind of a
[12:37] Speaker 2: blackjack game. But if you got a blackjack, you know
[12:41] Speaker 2: what that is, right?
[12:42] Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
[12:44] Speaker 2: You got the chance to spin the wheel... And you
[12:48] Speaker 2: would win whatever the wheel ended up on. And I
[12:54] Speaker 2: picked up a couple blackjacks. And Tom and I are
[12:58] Speaker 2: at this table. And there's another guy sitting at the
[13:00] Speaker 2: table with us who was a psychic vampire. And we
[13:04] Speaker 2: spin the wheel. And it's clicking. Click, click, click, click.
[13:08] Speaker 2: And it's getting close to $ 1, 000 on one of the clicks.
[13:12] Speaker 2: And Tom and I are just looking at this wheel,
[13:15] Speaker 2: wishing it. to click on $ 1, 000. The guy next to Tom,
[13:22] Speaker 2: the negative guy, kept saying, it ain't going to happen.
[13:26] Speaker 2: It's not going to get close. Well, it stopped one
[13:30] Speaker 2: click away from $ 1, 000. It was $ 2. And we are
[13:35] Speaker 2: convinced to this day, Judith, that that guy's negativity stopped
[13:40] Speaker 2: that wheel from clicking to the $ 1, 000. Is that possible? Oh, definitely.
[13:46] Speaker 3: And it sounds like he did that purposefully. He didn't
[13:49] Speaker 3: want you to get that. He totally got the situation.
[13:52] Speaker 3: But people can have this negative energy or they can
[13:55] Speaker 3: just have the ability to direct their energy to make
[13:59] Speaker 3: physical things happen. And it was one or the other,
[14:03] Speaker 3: as if he had that psychokinetic power where he could
[14:07] Speaker 3: actually alter the motion of the blackjack table so that...
[14:14] Speaker 3: it would not hit the $ 1, 000 mark. I think he
[14:17] Speaker 3: probably sits there all the time and does that.
[14:21] Speaker 2: Now, where does the sociopath come in?
[14:24] Speaker 3: The sociopath is somebody who doesn't have a conscience. There
[14:30] Speaker 3: are a lot of common traits of the narcissist. They
[14:32] Speaker 3: can be totally self-absorbed. They don't have empathy. They have
[14:38] Speaker 3: the empathy deficient disorder. They have the ability to charm
[14:43] Speaker 3: their victims. and to convince them that whatever the sociopath
[14:47] Speaker 3: is into is a great idea. And the sociopaths can
[14:53] Speaker 3: be very dangerous financially for people because they can get
[14:56] Speaker 3: in there and get involved with people's finances and then
[15:01] Speaker 3: run off with them, you know, or just, you know,
[15:04] Speaker 3: leave people penniless and they don't have a conscience so
[15:07] Speaker 3: it doesn't hurt them. So this is the perceptual differences that,
[15:13] Speaker 3: you might feel with a sociopath. So it's hard to
[15:16] Speaker 3: understand how this is possible. But I'm glad we're talking
[15:21] Speaker 3: about this because in terms of empaths and empaths saving
[15:24] Speaker 3: their energy, you need to identify who these people are,
[15:28] Speaker 3: who the narcissists are, who the sociopaths are, who the
[15:33] Speaker 3: chronic talkers are, who the rageaholics are. That's another one,
[15:36] Speaker 3: someone who can drain you with rage. And somebody who
[15:40] Speaker 3: just has pure, psychokinetic powers, you know, or negative energy,
[15:45] Speaker 3: just like the dark cloud over the person. And everywhere
[15:49] Speaker 3: they go, they bring people down with them. The guy
[15:53] Speaker 3: that you were describing who seemed to like doing what
[15:57] Speaker 3: he was doing.
