[0:00] Speaker 1: Look may oh, I see you, my own my bow
[0:04] Speaker 1: and look over there is that culture. Yes, goodness, lost.
[0:10] Speaker 2: Ding Dong lost in tactile with me right now, get tactile.
[0:15] Speaker 2: Here we are Bowen Yang. It's a very special episode.
[0:19] Speaker 1: Why is that because ten.
[0:21] Speaker 2: Years ago this week we started this podcast.
[0:24] Speaker 1: That's crazy feels silly to me. Ten years well, I
[0:29] Speaker 1: mean we're not helping with this whole like twenty sixteen
[0:33] Speaker 1: nostalgia thing going on right now.
[0:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, there is a lot of that.
[0:38] Speaker 1: I mean I was gonna ask like, where were you
[0:40] Speaker 1: ten years ago? But now we literally can't.
[0:41] Speaker 2: We were in our friends with a mattress in the
[0:47] Speaker 2: window to keep out the sound.
[0:49] Speaker 1: That was our that was our soundproofing at the time.
[0:51] Speaker 2: And we are now ten years later sitting here with
[0:54] Speaker 2: our guests.
[0:56] Speaker 1: Look at that, Look at God.
[0:58] Speaker 2: And I gotta say, look at God because she's with
[1:01] Speaker 2: us in the room. I don't know that we could
[1:05] Speaker 2: have booked a better guest for our ten year anniversary
[1:09] Speaker 2: a podcast about pop culture. Right, you think that the
[1:12] Speaker 2: ten year is gonna happen, we probably should get a
[1:14] Speaker 2: full blow and pop culture icon in here.
[1:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, I I did my thing of like I'm gonna
[1:22] Speaker 1: watch I'm gonna watch a project. I'm gonna go back
[1:25] Speaker 1: and revisit the classics, and it's the it's the sort
[1:28] Speaker 1: of decision paralysis thing that happens with I think our guests,
[1:31] Speaker 1: where I'm sure she's used to this by now, where
[1:33] Speaker 1: everyone's like, I loved you and uh and then like
[1:36] Speaker 1: they must like sort of short circuit and then liked.
[1:40] Speaker 1: So I picked. I was very happy with to Die
[1:45] Speaker 1: For and uh the others which I and then I
[1:49] Speaker 1: watched the Criterion Collection featurette where there's something I want
[1:53] Speaker 1: to ask you. She mentioned something that I want to
[1:55] Speaker 1: ask her about, which is that she almost quit because
[1:58] Speaker 1: she was like, I can't do this. This is a
[2:00] Speaker 1: woman who is awf oulder her children. Not a spoiler alert,
[2:03] Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, Well, well it's the others.
[2:06] Speaker 1: If you're seeing the others, if you know, you know.
[2:09] Speaker 2: I went for something old, something new.
[2:14] Speaker 1: Uh.
[2:14] Speaker 2: I went for final final two episodes of Big Little
[2:17] Speaker 2: Eyes season one, perfect, and I went for Eyes Wide Shut,
[2:20] Speaker 2: which I had never seen. And boy are there questions
[2:24] Speaker 2: as a result of this list of projects, But there
[2:26] Speaker 2: are approximately a million rolls that our guest has been
[2:29] Speaker 2: incredible in, just as an actress as a producer, I mean,
[2:35] Speaker 2: fashion icon, et cetera. Arguably best performance is the Chanelle
[2:39] Speaker 2: number five commercial, Oh which, yes, this is the podcast
[2:44] Speaker 2: that's going to bring it up.
[2:45] Speaker 1: Absolutely our ten.
[2:47] Speaker 2: Year anniversary special and our guest is the one. The only.
[2:55] Speaker 3: It was so had to stay quiet through that.
[2:57] Speaker 2: You stayed very stoke.
[2:58] Speaker 3: Do you see me?
[3:00] Speaker 1: You take direction?
[3:00] Speaker 3: I was like, you told me to shut up?
[3:02] Speaker 2: But then when we said number five commercial, you did?
[3:05] Speaker 2: You did jump up?
[3:06] Speaker 3: Bas just texted me, did he Literally you must have
[3:10] Speaker 3: been telepathically picking something.
[3:12] Speaker 2: We're just talking about it.
[3:13] Speaker 1: We were just talking about because my Basie.
[3:18] Speaker 2: Wonderful.
[3:18] Speaker 3: What is his name for me is dear one?
[3:21] Speaker 2: Dear one? Has that been for the beginning?
[3:26] Speaker 1: Dear one, dear one? So well again, same number of
[3:29] Speaker 1: syllables as Nicole, but.
[3:33] Speaker 3: Somehow deal one is nice.
[3:36] Speaker 1: I can say he has a nickname for me because
[3:37] Speaker 1: I met him at an event and his nickname for
[3:40] Speaker 1: me is I kid you not you bitch, because it's
[3:45] Speaker 1: how he thinks he's going to book the podcast. He
[3:47] Speaker 1: wants to come on the podcast.
[3:49] Speaker 2: Of course.
[3:54] Speaker 1: He is. He's because he sent me the loveliest email
[3:59] Speaker 1: after r on a Grande and I did this Mulan
[4:02] Speaker 1: Rouge sketch and you go, no, no, but it was
[4:06] Speaker 1: it was kind of the best thing. The best outcome
[4:09] Speaker 1: possible was to like be able to be in conversation
[4:12] Speaker 1: with him anyway, and he's.
[4:14] Speaker 3: He's with it. I mean, all you want to do
[4:16] Speaker 3: is be the center of his universe. Yeah, when you
[4:19] Speaker 3: drop from that spot, it's very painful.
[4:21] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, when you're in his orbit, it's something else. Yeah,
[4:27] Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I have to say I think mulin
[4:30] Speaker 2: Rouge was like we asked that question a lot, like
[4:33] Speaker 2: what was the culture that made you say? Culture was
[4:35] Speaker 2: for you? And Mulan Rouge came out in two thousand,
[4:37] Speaker 2: so it was just around the time when we were
[4:39] Speaker 2: starting to like be like I'm going to watch a
[4:41] Speaker 2: movie that my parents don't know I'm going to watch,
[4:43] Speaker 2: and my mother would see the trailer from Mulan Rouge
[4:46] Speaker 2: and she would say, that looks racy. That looks very racy.
[4:50] Speaker 2: And I was like, I went into fifth grade and
[4:52] Speaker 2: I told my teacher, my mom says, Mulan Rouge looks racy.
[4:56] Speaker 1: And then she was like, well, you know it might
[4:58] Speaker 1: be a little racy.
[4:59] Speaker 2: Well, that's sort of about what it's about. But then you.
[5:01] Speaker 3: Watch it to a courtisan.
[5:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, courison and consumption, that's right, the consumption racy topics.
[5:11] Speaker 2: The greatest consumption death put on Cellu Lloyd. I think,
[5:14] Speaker 2: what can we talk about it? Okay? And even people
[5:20] Speaker 2: on the team are like, like gagged, just the consumption.
[5:24] Speaker 3: Of it all. And then I get carried though in feathers.
[5:28] Speaker 3: Pink feathers, come on, Yes, I get to fly on
[5:31] Speaker 3: a trapeze in sequence with men underneath me with top hats.
[5:35] Speaker 1: Pretty good, badass, badass.
[5:37] Speaker 3: And then I get to die and be held by
[5:41] Speaker 3: Ewan McGregor singing to me. And then but I also
[5:45] Speaker 3: get to get carried in pink feathers.
[5:48] Speaker 1: Right, pink feathers seem to be.
[5:49] Speaker 3: Oh, that's really lovely.
[5:51] Speaker 2: A lot of fulfillment there.
[5:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just so exquisite.
[5:56] Speaker 2: And also, like the soundtrack that was birthed, I think
[6:01] Speaker 2: that that doesn't get enough respect to put on its
[6:03] Speaker 2: name because all bangers on that soundtrack.
[6:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, well he's he's just a music whiz, yes, So,
[6:11] Speaker 3: I mean bas is classically built in terms of all
[6:15] Speaker 3: his knowledge and the way in which he's been trained
[6:18] Speaker 3: and then he talked about culture and pop culture. Then
[6:22] Speaker 3: he's able to enter the zeitgeist though, but he's got
[6:25] Speaker 3: all his education and classical training kind of the best
[6:29] Speaker 3: of the best. Right else, do we want to talk
[6:33] Speaker 3: about you? Because he throw someone at me and.
[6:39] Speaker 1: I'll answer, Nicole Kidman, how about that? Because I feel
[6:43] Speaker 1: like me I'm boring. Come on. The reason why I
[6:47] Speaker 1: think the reason why you've had this incredibly illustrious career
[6:53] Speaker 1: is because random career.
[6:55] Speaker 3: It's also rad.
[6:57] Speaker 2: But random in the best way. Like I love that
[6:59] Speaker 2: we never know we're working to get from you.
[7:01] Speaker 3: It is random.
[7:02] Speaker 1: Scarpett and March eleventh on Prime Today.
[7:06] Speaker 3: I think by binge, I know you're not meant to
[7:09] Speaker 3: binge things, but binge.
[7:11] Speaker 1: You think it's a binger.
[7:13] Speaker 3: I think this is a binger. If you like binging,
[7:16] Speaker 3: love I like binging. It comes you know it's not healthy,
[7:20] Speaker 3: but I love it.
[7:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, all one.
[7:23] Speaker 3: Huh yeah, just watch it? Okay, watch it and watch
[7:26] Speaker 3: it and watch it and watch it and watch it
[7:27] Speaker 3: and done.
[7:28] Speaker 2: Perfect couple.
[7:28] Speaker 3: I binged.
[7:29] Speaker 2: Netflix made that easy.
[7:30] Speaker 3: Right, Okay? Well, hopefully this makes Jamie Lee and I.
[7:36] Speaker 1: Jane Lee Bobby kind of and he just he is Crime,
[7:43] Speaker 1: Dela Crime, and then Simon Baker.
[7:46] Speaker 3: And you and everyone and everyone else.
[7:48] Speaker 2: Well, he was famously he holds a place in gay
[7:50] Speaker 2: culture because he was Will's boyfriend on Will and Grace. Yeah. Yes,
[7:55] Speaker 2: he was like the tough talking I think he was
[7:57] Speaker 2: a firefighter, right or was he a cop?
[7:59] Speaker 3: He was? What? Yeah, yeah, he's not at all.
[8:04] Speaker 1: No, right, Look, some people some people have.
[8:08] Speaker 3: Burn is very lucky.
[8:09] Speaker 2: She's the best. We were watching clips of her and
[8:12] Speaker 2: Kristen wigg going back and forth in an outtake real
[8:14] Speaker 2: and Bridesmaids right before you walked in.
[8:16] Speaker 3: I was just talking about that. That is my daughter
[8:18] Speaker 3: and I. We watch Bridesmaids when we're feeling down. Whenever
[8:22] Speaker 3: we need a lift, we watch it. We recite it,
[8:25] Speaker 3: we acted out and we do that in the kitchen,
[8:28] Speaker 3: and that is our go to saving. That's our savior
[8:31] Speaker 3: films film. Yeah, to pull us out of a funk.
[8:35] Speaker 1: Of course, there's an underappreciated. That's a new vocal stem
[8:39] Speaker 1: for me, which is a Rosebyurne line in that which
[8:41] Speaker 1: is after like the toast off, Roseburn goes dessert, wine
[8:45] Speaker 1: is out. You want to talk about It's such a
[8:48] Speaker 1: funny little like evening it's dirt.
[8:52] Speaker 2: There's also we were blown by, like the patronizing way
[8:54] Speaker 2: she looks at Kristin Wig whenever she's trying to say
[8:56] Speaker 2: like an accomplishment of hers just like.
[8:58] Speaker 3: Wow, been like wow, you're a train wreck. Get the hook, Get.
[9:06] Speaker 1: The hook exactly perfect. Oh but I just okay, Yeah,
[9:09] Speaker 1: I was gonna, I was gonna, I was gonna pay
[9:11] Speaker 1: you the compliment, and then I was gonna transition to
[9:12] Speaker 1: take it. Do you get this? Do people say that
[9:18] Speaker 1: you don't do you receive a compliment? Well, I don't know.
[9:21] Speaker 3: I'm trying to. It's not an Australian attribute like we
[9:24] Speaker 3: always have to. Yeah, humility is very important, but also
[9:28] Speaker 3: it's just hard to take compliments because the last thing
[9:31] Speaker 3: you want is to be seen as.
[9:32] Speaker 1: Bigheaded, right right, right, of course you have.
[9:35] Speaker 3: To always come in under But I'm learning to take
[9:38] Speaker 3: the strokes because it feels good. I mean, you hard
[9:44] Speaker 3: give me something.
[9:47] Speaker 1: From We do this too much, some might say is
[9:49] Speaker 1: that we fond too much, which we will keep to
[9:51] Speaker 1: a minimum. But I think the reason why, because you're
[9:54] Speaker 1: talking about baths being so plugged into the culture, I
[9:57] Speaker 1: feel like you have that same sense too of just no.
[10:00] Speaker 1: When something is a worthwhile, not even worthwhile, it's just
[10:06] Speaker 1: a risk period, right. I feel like this randomness that
[10:09] Speaker 1: you're talking about is just risk.
[10:11] Speaker 3: And it's curiosity, Okay, it's desire, it's and it's always
[10:19] Speaker 3: just being willing to try things and jump off the cliff.
[10:23] Speaker 3: That would be the way in which I approach things.
[10:27] Speaker 3: But I want to have fun.
[10:29] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[10:30] Speaker 3: I grew up in a family that had a slight
[10:32] Speaker 3: bohemian quality to it, but it was very intellectual family.
[10:36] Speaker 3: So there was I was taken to see all sorts
[10:40] Speaker 3: of theater and opera and art. I was raised on culture,
[10:45] Speaker 3: and my mother loved fashion. My grandmother could sew and
[10:49] Speaker 3: knit and embroider, and they played piano and spoke French
[10:54] Speaker 3: and all those things that you go, oh, okay, teach me.
[10:58] Speaker 3: But they were socially conscious and sort of just an
[11:02] Speaker 3: interesting group of people to have been born into yeah,
[11:06] Speaker 3: and to be launched into the world by.
[11:08] Speaker 2: So things that were fascinating were around you.
[11:12] Speaker 3: There weren't boundaries. There were in terms of sometimes my
[11:16] Speaker 3: mother would have a strict moral code and at other
[11:18] Speaker 3: times you'd be like huh. But there was a huge
[11:22] Speaker 3: There wasn't a lot of judgment there was. The barriers
[11:27] Speaker 3: were taken away and you could express all sorts of
[11:30] Speaker 3: thoughts and ideas in terms of philosophy or secrets. And
[11:36] Speaker 3: some of my greatest moments were curled up in my
[11:39] Speaker 3: mom's bed, sort of us both sharing human just humanness
[11:46] Speaker 3: and ideas. And I nursed her through cancer, and so
[11:50] Speaker 3: I saw all of that. I saw her losing her hair.
[11:53] Speaker 3: I saw a fifty year marriage and the way that
[11:57] Speaker 3: unfurled as it went along with truth and honesty. Kind
[12:02] Speaker 3: of interesting, right, And she gave me insight into what
[12:07] Speaker 3: it was to be just to be alive. Yeah, and
[12:13] Speaker 3: that and I could ask her anything, and my dad
[12:16] Speaker 3: as well. So that's a really good basis to start
[12:19] Speaker 3: life from, right.
[12:23] Speaker 1: But I'm just sorry to get serious.
[12:26] Speaker 2: It is funny, no, but literally, like sometimes I watch
[12:29] Speaker 2: your movies and I think when she got the script
[12:31] Speaker 2: for this, like there's no way to really see it.
[12:34] Speaker 2: Like Mulan Rouge, for example, Like the whole first half
[12:37] Speaker 2: hour of Mulin Rouge, it moves so fast and it
[12:40] Speaker 2: is so crazy, like the scene where you're changing under
[12:44] Speaker 2: then in the tent with Jim Broadbent and you're sort
[12:46] Speaker 2: of like trying on your different personas and stuff. It's
[12:49] Speaker 2: got to be impossible to see. But I guess then
[12:51] Speaker 2: for you, that's just like thinking and trusting of the director,
[12:54] Speaker 2: because I feel like that drives you a lot, right director.
[12:58] Speaker 3: And because he and Catherine Martin, the two of them,
[13:03] Speaker 3: they had a beautiful, big house that they would create
[13:07] Speaker 3: in and that's where we would rehearse. And there was
[13:10] Speaker 3: very much of a human quality to the way they
[13:13] Speaker 3: they create their art. And so when you're brought into that,
[13:17] Speaker 3: you spent six weeks workshopping. But prior to that, I'd
[13:22] Speaker 3: done a photoshoot for Vogue with them, and I'd seen
[13:25] Speaker 3: their work growing up in Australia and watched them morph
[13:29] Speaker 3: into who they were, and there were just like these
[13:33] Speaker 3: crazy talented I mean, bas was an actor and a
[13:38] Speaker 3: really good actor. I bet his Winter Winter of Our
[13:45] Speaker 3: Dreams with Judy Davis and he's fantastic in it. He
[13:48] Speaker 3: plays a junkie. Oh wow, yeah, so there's a tidbit
[13:51] Speaker 3: for you. Yeah, go find out Winter.
[13:54] Speaker 1: What is it?
[13:55] Speaker 3: Winter of Our dream Judy.
[13:57] Speaker 1: Davis one of the the best?
[13:59] Speaker 3: Oh my god. So yeah. And then CM and Bez
[14:03] Speaker 3: went to Naida, which is our national Institute of Dramatic Arts.
[14:06] Speaker 1: Yes, I'm getting this bohemian sort of No, no, no,
[14:11] Speaker 1: there's a bohemian element here to the way that you
[14:16] Speaker 1: were raised. And I think also, I'm just going to
[14:18] Speaker 1: pick up on the opera piece opera, because I think
[14:22] Speaker 1: that I'm going to like have those two heloses come
[14:26] Speaker 1: together in terms of like it describing like the Nicole
[14:30] Speaker 1: kidman of which is like it's operatic, but it is
[14:34] Speaker 1: also so like artfully diverse for lack of a better term, right,
[14:38] Speaker 1: because it's like I think in you talking about the others,
[14:42] Speaker 1: it's like you were like, this is media, this is yeah,
[14:45] Speaker 1: this is classic Greek Euripides, but it's also it's this
[14:49] Speaker 1: operatic kind of thing. But I think that applies to
[14:50] Speaker 1: a lot of your roles.
[14:52] Speaker 3: Yeah. Agree, I well, I I think what opera gives
[14:56] Speaker 3: you is it gives you pathos and it gives you
[15:00] Speaker 3: big emotion. And because I was taken to the opera
[15:05] Speaker 3: all the time, and I would sit there with my
[15:08] Speaker 3: dad and my mom and we would cry, I mean,
[15:10] Speaker 3: and my mother would explain because she could speak Italian,
[15:13] Speaker 3: she could speak French, so she would explain the stories
[15:17] Speaker 3: and the stories I mean They're fantastic in the same
[15:22] Speaker 3: way that Shakespeare the Greeks. And I grew up reading
[15:25] Speaker 3: Russian literature. I was obsessed with the Russians.
[15:29] Speaker 2: Really, yes, how did you come to be obsessed with that?
[15:32] Speaker 3: Just because I had one of those lists of the
[15:34] Speaker 3: hundred books you're meant to read? Oh, okay, But I
[15:37] Speaker 3: started on Dostoyevsky, and then I went, oh, hold on,
[15:41] Speaker 3: and then I just kept going on Dostoyevsky, and then
[15:44] Speaker 3: I moved over to Tolstoy, and then before you know it,
[15:47] Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with the Russians. And I went to Saint
[15:50] Speaker 3: Petersburg actually and saw all of the places that Tolstoi
[15:56] Speaker 3: had built war and peace around, and people pointed out where,
[15:59] Speaker 3: you know, Andre all of it, and I was like, what,
[16:03] Speaker 3: So that was kind of the beginning of my artistic
[16:06] Speaker 3: basis is the Russians. And then I moved over into
[16:11] Speaker 3: the Bronzes, of course, which give you the yearning.
[16:15] Speaker 2: Yes, it certainly does.
[16:17] Speaker 3: I'm on a More Nights, yes, and I loved it.
[16:22] Speaker 3: I loved it. And but I've read Wuthering Heights six times, right,
[16:29] Speaker 3: and I love teeth Cliff. Yeah, so I just you know,
[16:33] Speaker 3: and that state of yearning that the Bronzes existed in
[16:37] Speaker 3: that probably was my stata as a teenager and probably
[16:40] Speaker 3: continues on now. It's one of the most it's the
[16:43] Speaker 3: one of the most underrated states have been.
[16:46] Speaker 2: Year I would agree, because it is so it's so painful,
[16:51] Speaker 2: like when you're in it, but then you can only
[16:55] Speaker 2: be in it. First, tell me if you think this
[16:57] Speaker 2: is true, Like, I'll never yearn like I did when
[17:00] Speaker 2: I was like fifteen to twenty five. Like, and you
[17:03] Speaker 2: don't realize that you're not going to feel that feeling
[17:06] Speaker 2: as intensely anymore.
[17:07] Speaker 3: Oh I feel it?
[17:08] Speaker 2: Really?
[17:09] Speaker 1: I still yeah, you still do.
[17:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to study yearning.
[17:12] Speaker 2: Now you are.
[17:13] Speaker 1: And it can be towards anything or anyone, Okay.
[17:16] Speaker 3: But it keeps you alive, keeps you moving forward.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Okay, I got a yearn again.
[17:21] Speaker 3: Come on, yeah, yeah, let's bring back the YEARN.
[17:24] Speaker 2: I know I'm trying to feel like I guess I
[17:26] Speaker 2: was specifically thinking about it in terms of like the
[17:30] Speaker 2: romantick desire, you know what I'm saying, especially being closet.
[17:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it tingles, I know, come on, chivery delicious.
[17:42] Speaker 3: I had a line once in this film called floating
[17:45] Speaker 3: where I play a small role. But I just remember
[17:49] Speaker 3: that the description of being Hivy delicious chivery delicious.
[17:55] Speaker 2: Oh that's really good, Chivy Delicious title of app. That's
[17:59] Speaker 2: actual the title of this episode.
[18:01] Speaker 3: I shivery deliver.
[18:03] Speaker 2: It's become and I couldn't think of anything better.
[18:05] Speaker 1: Thru Wait.
[18:08] Speaker 2: On eBay, every find.
[18:10] Speaker 1: Has a story, Like if you're looking for a vintage
[18:12] Speaker 1: band tea, not just at.
[18:14] Speaker 2: The band tea from the last shell your favorite band
[18:17] Speaker 2: ever played.
[18:18] Speaker 1: If you wore it everywhere, but then your girlfriend or
[18:21] Speaker 1: boyfriend or BFF started wearing it.
[18:23] Speaker 2: Which was cute until they dumped you or unfriended you
[18:27] Speaker 2: and took it with.
[18:28] Speaker 1: Them, which was not so cute.
[18:30] Speaker 2: Anyway, Now you're on eBay.
[18:32] Speaker 1: And there it is, same tea from the same tour,
[18:35] Speaker 1: still living in your memory. You rent free forever.
[18:38] Speaker 2: See the things you love have a way of finding
[18:41] Speaker 2: their way back to you.
[18:42] Speaker 1: But eBay isn't just forgetting whatever your X or XBFF
[18:45] Speaker 1: stole back.
[18:46] Speaker 2: It's also for that rare championship foul ball you caught
[18:49] Speaker 2: then heroically gave to the kid next to you.
[18:51] Speaker 1: And where else are you going to find your first car?
[18:54] Speaker 2: The one you wish you never sold, but now finally
[18:57] Speaker 2: get the chance to take back home.
[18:59] Speaker 1: For a good time.
[19:00] Speaker 2: Shop eBay from millions of fines, each with a.
[19:03] Speaker 1: Story eBay Things People Love.
[19:07] Speaker 2: Do you have like a favorite line of dialogue you've said?
[19:11] Speaker 3: I have? I mean, I've worked with the greatest writer
[19:13] Speaker 3: you true, I think. I think the hours gave me. Yeah,
[19:18] Speaker 3: when you're David Hare wrote just just exquisite dialogue inspired
[19:28] Speaker 3: by Virginia Wolf from Michael Cunningham and then directed by
[19:33] Speaker 3: Stephen Daldry. But that that that screenplay was was just
[19:39] Speaker 3: beautiful and to be able to do it justice that
[19:42] Speaker 3: that monologue in the hours of oh yeah, that was
[19:47] Speaker 3: like too and we rigorously worked that. And I have
[19:51] Speaker 3: to call out the praises of Stephen Delane in that
[19:55] Speaker 3: because that's so much what acting is. There's two of
[19:58] Speaker 3: you in that scene. He love her does he wants
[20:01] Speaker 3: to take her and and save her in a way
[20:05] Speaker 3: from herself, but she says no, it's the right of
[20:08] Speaker 3: every human being to choose. I get to choose my destiny.
[20:14] Speaker 3: I get to choose, and I really believe in that.
[20:17] Speaker 2: Will you direct because you you speak like a director?
[20:22] Speaker 2: I do, Yeah, because I feel like you're like really
[20:24] Speaker 2: working in like the obviously actress but like, but what
[20:29] Speaker 2: I'm saying is, like you, I think would be an
[20:32] Speaker 2: actor's dream as a director, because no one understands it
[20:35] Speaker 2: better than you.
[20:36] Speaker 3: Well, I I've always I mean, you never say never
[20:39] Speaker 3: to anything, because whenever I do that, that's that's a disaster.
[20:42] Speaker 3: And then you go, oh, okay, well I changed my mind. Yeah,
[20:46] Speaker 3: my prerogative. But I love being an actor. Yeah, I
[20:50] Speaker 3: actually love being in the hands of a great director
[20:53] Speaker 3: and a great writer, and I love being there to contribute.
[20:57] Speaker 3: But to lead it that's fair difficult. That's decision making
[21:02] Speaker 3: that is unfaltering in your vision, whereas I see all
[21:08] Speaker 3: all ways. So I need, okay, this is what we're doing.
[21:17] Speaker 1: You want to be amenable to all kinds of apps.
[21:19] Speaker 3: I'm interested. I'm just interested. That's beautiful, and so I
[21:24] Speaker 3: hope I always shay interested. I love asking questions more
[21:29] Speaker 3: than having questions asked.
[21:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, so I have a question then, just because I
[21:34] Speaker 2: have to tell you again, just looping back to those
[21:36] Speaker 2: things that you remember from pivotal moments in your life,
[21:40] Speaker 2: I think that every every queer person our age probably
[21:45] Speaker 2: remembers walking into a Blockbuster, and which was the video
[21:49] Speaker 2: rental store where you can rent VHS's, and walking over
[21:53] Speaker 2: to the Batman aisle and seeing Doctor Chase Meridian on
[21:59] Speaker 2: the cover of the Batman Forever VHS the Veronica Lake hair.
[22:05] Speaker 2: I found out something about myself seeing that picture of
[22:09] Speaker 2: you on there. I was like, I need to know everything.
[22:13] Speaker 2: And I rented it again and again and again, and
[22:16] Speaker 2: I watched it and that movie, I have to say,
[22:19] Speaker 2: and Batman and Robin Camp underrated Camp Classics masterpieces.
[22:23] Speaker 3: Joe Schumacher, Yes, that was Yeah, we created her together,
[22:28] Speaker 3: that hair, everything, and he was like, here she is,
[22:31] Speaker 3: here's doctor Chase.
[22:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, and he probably felt the same way we did.
[22:35] Speaker 2: Walk into the Blackbuster.
[22:36] Speaker 3: When you walking was I'm not pretty enough to come on? Truly,
[22:41] Speaker 3: I really felt when I was doing that that I
[22:44] Speaker 3: was not pretty enough?
[22:44] Speaker 1: What was the idea? What were you trying to? Were
[22:47] Speaker 1: you training Ronica?
[22:50] Speaker 3: But I mean also just just that sort of the dream,
[22:55] Speaker 3: the dream blonde, right, And I did not feel like that.
[22:58] Speaker 3: I've never felt like that. So but that's the beauty
[23:01] Speaker 3: of acting is you can pretend to create become right, yes,
[23:06] Speaker 3: which is what we love. Yeah, you can put on
[23:09] Speaker 3: a wig. You can suddenly put on red lipstick, and
[23:13] Speaker 3: you can dress differently and put heels on, and suddenly
[23:16] Speaker 3: you are kind of you would love to be and
[23:20] Speaker 3: then it all comes off again in your back. But
[23:23] Speaker 3: it's so great being able to step into that. I mean,
[23:25] Speaker 3: the same was so many different characters. But a lot
[23:29] Speaker 3: of people also cite the Channel number five commercials, so
[23:33] Speaker 3: they always say to me, was I'll.
[23:37] Speaker 4: Never I must have been the only person in the
[23:44] Speaker 4: world who didn't know who she was.
[23:50] Speaker 2: It was on repeat. It's my favorite movie. Now Number
[23:54] Speaker 2: five commercial was starring you and Rodrigo Santoro, directed by
[23:58] Speaker 2: Baz Luhrman. Here's my film.
[24:02] Speaker 3: And and that pink.
[24:03] Speaker 2: Dress, everything about.
[24:06] Speaker 3: It running down the street. But that's fat, that's the's
[24:09] Speaker 3: dreams and that CM too, and they can just create that.
[24:11] Speaker 3: That's why the pink feathers, the pink.
[24:13] Speaker 2: Dress I love.
[24:19] Speaker 1: So much.
[24:20] Speaker 2: It is the best, and it was it's like.
[24:27] Speaker 3: But no one had ever done that sort of film.
[24:29] Speaker 3: I remember Carl Laga felt being like, I love this.
[24:33] Speaker 3: He gave the thumbs up to it, which was a
[24:35] Speaker 3: huge thing for Carl who was just like she personified
[24:38] Speaker 3: right of course, And and it was like, okay, but
[24:42] Speaker 3: they spent an enormous amount of money on that. Yeah
[24:47] Speaker 3: they didn't. They didn't go cheap, But why go cheap
[24:51] Speaker 3: when you don't have to and you can create something iconically.
[24:54] Speaker 2: That we remember it.
[24:55] Speaker 3: I'm so glad they didn't skim.
[24:57] Speaker 2: No, I love like a big ask commercial that at
[25:01] Speaker 2: the last second you find out it was about something
[25:03] Speaker 2: that had nothing to do with this story.
[25:07] Speaker 1: It's perfect. Like you don't like it's how it should be.
[25:10] Speaker 1: It's because at that point it's like you're not being
[25:13] Speaker 1: duped into buying something. You're just in the world.
[25:16] Speaker 2: You've already bought it.
[25:17] Speaker 1: You've already bought it because you're in the world of
[25:19] Speaker 1: the thing. Yeah, but can I ask on the acting now,
[25:21] Speaker 1: on this love of acting? I was watching this feature
[25:25] Speaker 1: this featurette on the others for the Criteria collection, which was, uh, yeah,
[25:29] Speaker 1: it entered that a couple of years ago, but congrats huge.
[25:34] Speaker 1: But you were saying that you almost said no.
[25:38] Speaker 3: And I said yes and then I said no, but
[25:40] Speaker 3: that you also that this.
[25:41] Speaker 1: Is your usual process, that you kind of said that
[25:44] Speaker 1: this is like something that happens not a lot.
[25:45] Speaker 3: But I try not to do it now because it's
[25:47] Speaker 3: incredibly frustrating and irritating for people.
[25:50] Speaker 2: But it's super the line producer for everybody, Like.
[25:54] Speaker 1: What but forget other people? It's like if because I
[25:57] Speaker 1: think you were acknowledging it. It's part of your process, right,
[26:00] Speaker 1: like oh for anything that is kind of maybe scaring
[26:03] Speaker 1: you a little bit, like that is part of how
[26:05] Speaker 1: you approach it. Like you're saying you don't do it
[26:07] Speaker 1: anymore now, but like what was?
[26:08] Speaker 3: No, I still do it?
[26:09] Speaker 1: Okay, great, I just do it less. Yeah.
[26:13] Speaker 3: Step to healing is awareness. Yes, so I'm on the road.
[26:19] Speaker 1: You're on the road. Can you tell the like do
[26:22] Speaker 1: you understand that now as a thing of like this
[26:24] Speaker 1: is just something about going through it?
[26:26] Speaker 3: Well, that particularly was I was making Molin rouge when
[26:30] Speaker 3: I agreed to do it. So I was steen when
[26:35] Speaker 3: I read Grace, which is you know, the others, the
[26:38] Speaker 3: character and the others. So I had not delved psychologically
[26:43] Speaker 3: into her because I'd accepted in a different state of
[26:48] Speaker 3: being that being said, got it. I then arrive over
[26:54] Speaker 3: there and I'm like, oh my god, I've got to
[26:57] Speaker 3: now start prepping this woman who who kills her children? Yes, no,
[27:01] Speaker 3: I don't want to do that. I'm like, I don't
[27:03] Speaker 3: want to do this. I do not want to kill
[27:05] Speaker 3: the children. So then you go back to is it
[27:09] Speaker 3: killing the children or is it saving the children? So
[27:12] Speaker 3: as soon as I could shift into oh, I'm saving
[27:17] Speaker 3: the children, even though that is so insane and crazy,
[27:22] Speaker 3: it was choosing to save them from terrible pain, and
[27:29] Speaker 3: then I could motivate into the role. Does that make sense?
[27:32] Speaker 1: It makes sense? And was that something you found with
[27:34] Speaker 1: Alijndro or is that something?
[27:36] Speaker 3: And with the acting coach I work with and the
[27:38] Speaker 3: way in which my whole just my nervous system, and
[27:41] Speaker 3: the way in which I approach something. I have to
[27:44] Speaker 3: feel it. If I don't feel it, I'm going to
[27:47] Speaker 3: be faking it and then I'm no good. So I
[27:50] Speaker 3: have to somehow find this weird state of being that
[27:54] Speaker 3: keeps it real even though I'm still existing in life
[27:57] Speaker 3: with my feet on the ground.
[27:59] Speaker 2: But your stomach there you get from it comes from.
[28:02] Speaker 3: The body work.
[28:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[28:05] Speaker 3: Emotians are in your body, So where do you find them? Yeah?
[28:10] Speaker 2: That's really I guess that's a really good thing to
[28:12] Speaker 2: remember too, is if your body is if your body
[28:15] Speaker 2: is telling your brain something that probably means more than
[28:18] Speaker 2: you know.
[28:19] Speaker 3: Well, you know a lot of times you go, especially
[28:23] Speaker 3: with trauma, and where do you feel it in your body?
[28:26] Speaker 3: And so it's a really great way to approach your character.
[28:28] Speaker 3: Where do you feel them in your body?
[28:30] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's interesting.
[28:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, is it here? Is it in the chest? What happens?
[28:33] Speaker 3: Is it in the gut? Is it in the groin?
[28:36] Speaker 3: Is it in? Where is it? And let's start from there.
[28:40] Speaker 3: I sound kind of crazy, No, no.
[28:42] Speaker 2: But you don't at all like I feel like that.
[28:46] Speaker 2: That is sort of an answer to my question of like,
[28:49] Speaker 2: what would compel you to say yes to certain scripts,
[28:52] Speaker 2: because for example, something like Destroyer or like The Paper Boy,
[28:57] Speaker 2: it's like you'd read these things and be like huh.
[28:59] Speaker 2: But then the huh of it sort of is a
[29:04] Speaker 2: guttural instinct and so it's not, Oh, I don't feel
[29:08] Speaker 2: comfortable with that, so I'm going to say no to it.
[29:11] Speaker 2: It's I feel uncomfortable with that. Let me listen to that.
[29:15] Speaker 3: And Charlotte Bless say in The Paper Boy, I mean
[29:18] Speaker 3: that was just she's all like she sex, she's wild,
[29:22] Speaker 3: she's all body, she's all like she's you know, and
[29:26] Speaker 3: I wanted to go and we were shooting down there
[29:28] Speaker 3: and there in in Louisiana in the heat, and it's
[29:34] Speaker 3: swampy noir and that's kind of great to go and
[29:38] Speaker 3: do something with Lee Daniels do swampy.
[29:40] Speaker 2: Noir and zac Efron not bad.
[29:42] Speaker 3: Dancing in the rain, yeah yeah, yeah, and sitting out
[29:46] Speaker 3: in front of the Prism with my feet up on
[29:48] Speaker 3: the dashboard and it's just kind of like, yeah, she's
[29:52] Speaker 3: she's she's a cat.
[29:53] Speaker 2: She's wild, and then you get to be wild Louisiana swan.
[29:57] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[29:57] Speaker 3: They always say live a normal life and then in
[29:59] Speaker 3: your imaginary life you can do whatever you want.
[30:03] Speaker 1: Part of the coolest that's the coolest thing, part of
[30:05] Speaker 1: your mind.
[30:06] Speaker 3: Very normal.
[30:07] Speaker 1: Yes, well, part of your normal life was going to Antarctica. Yeah,
[30:12] Speaker 1: there's not We're connected here, We're connected.
[30:15] Speaker 2: I believe we just missed each other.
[30:17] Speaker 1: We just missed it. We were on the same so everyone,
[30:20] Speaker 1: Nicole and I were on the same vessel, but at
[30:23] Speaker 1: different times.
[30:25] Speaker 3: So before you you.
[30:26] Speaker 1: Went before me and people on the ship. People. First
[30:31] Speaker 1: of all, can we just shout out the loveliest crew on.
[30:35] Speaker 3: The on Silverish, right, the loveliest, loveliest people.
[30:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, And it just felt like this wonderful, like, well,
[30:43] Speaker 1: our boat was.
[30:45] Speaker 3: Tell me your story, Okay, how'd you end up in Antartica?
[30:48] Speaker 3: Who were you with? And why did you go?
[30:50] Speaker 1: Okay? And then and then would love to hear your
[30:53] Speaker 1: version of yeah, of course. Honestly, I just got back yesterday,
[30:58] Speaker 1: Yes yesterday.
[30:59] Speaker 3: Because so it's all so present.
[31:02] Speaker 1: I woke up this morning still feeling the sway of
[31:06] Speaker 1: Drake path, of the Drake passage, like my brain is
[31:08] Speaker 1: still used to like being rocked by the by by
[31:11] Speaker 1: the current, so by the big car, by the big current.
[31:15] Speaker 1: So my it's my mom.
[31:17] Speaker 3: And the smell of penguins and the smell of penguin
[31:19] Speaker 3: ship that that's not the most alluring.
[31:23] Speaker 2: Smell breaks the majesty.
[31:26] Speaker 3: The penguins of divine gent penguin chin strap. We love them,
[31:31] Speaker 3: we love just not their diarrhear their.
[31:37] Speaker 1: Hate it and and what makes you so confident?
[31:40] Speaker 3: Diarrhea Island, diarrhea Island. It was diarrhea island. Yeah. I
[31:47] Speaker 3: was like, I'm gonna just stay down here. I don't
[31:50] Speaker 3: need to see those chicks those was calling a diarrhea
[31:53] Speaker 3: island and our whole family. Yeah, yeah, because it was diary.
[31:58] Speaker 3: I saw no ice, just diar rehear, Oh.
[32:03] Speaker 2: You missed that.
[32:04] Speaker 3: Their stomachs must not have been upset.
[32:05] Speaker 1: No, no, they were upset.
[32:07] Speaker 2: He didn't bring this up.
[32:08] Speaker 3: Well, no, but this is this is just a sidebark
[32:11] Speaker 3: and tidy Curry is Gordon.
[32:12] Speaker 1: You don't have to know, We don't have to make
[32:14] Speaker 1: the books. Take this the main bar. This is diarrhea
[32:19] Speaker 1: Island is the topic of the rest of You're never
[32:22] Speaker 1: going to island.
[32:24] Speaker 2: Already was never going to go to Antarctica. It's I
[32:26] Speaker 2: don't think it's for me.
[32:27] Speaker 3: This is a small little section where there was a
[32:31] Speaker 3: few penguins that had upset stomach. But beyond that they're molting.
[32:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there's there there. They're just in a moment
[32:41] Speaker 1: of just like letting it all that.
[32:43] Speaker 3: I said it.
[32:44] Speaker 2: I'm hooked on it.
[32:45] Speaker 1: I just just to just to hear, just to be
[32:47] Speaker 1: asked by you, how did you go hiking on diary Island?
[32:51] Speaker 1: Diarrhea island, diarrhea island?
[32:55] Speaker 3: But back to glorious, glorious and the sea lines and
[33:00] Speaker 3: the kayaking we kayak? Is that not the greatest thing
[33:05] Speaker 3: it was? I was the silence, the silence.
[33:09] Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting, Yes, it must be the.
[33:11] Speaker 1: Most No, it is spectacular there truly untouched.
[33:16] Speaker 3: And the silence is unrivaled. I mean there is you
[33:19] Speaker 3: hear nothing. Yeah, and the most piece that you I
[33:24] Speaker 3: mean it truly is. And I meditated on the kayak
[33:27] Speaker 3: for like five minutes and just went I think this
[33:31] Speaker 3: is the happiest I've ever been.
[33:34] Speaker 2: Now is that because of the quiet.
[33:37] Speaker 3: I think it's just everything that surrounds you there and
[33:41] Speaker 3: there that it's timeless. And then you're aware of the
[33:46] Speaker 3: fragility of everything.
[33:48] Speaker 1: Because you're aware of because because you're looking out and
[33:51] Speaker 1: it's like this is untouched, un uncorrupted by man, and
[33:58] Speaker 1: you realize how much of our surroundings and how much
[34:01] Speaker 1: of our like interactions, and how much of our psychic
[34:05] Speaker 1: being is ruined by man. You know what I mean.
[34:10] Speaker 1: It's like it feels like you're the most in touch
[34:15] Speaker 1: with like nature as as you ever have been. I
[34:18] Speaker 1: felt that exact when kayaking, the seals were were were abundant.
[34:24] Speaker 1: We saw a glacier sort of crumble before our eyes
[34:27] Speaker 1: and people were like, oh, And I'm like, oh, I
[34:29] Speaker 1: think that's normal. I think it's a thunderous sound and
[34:34] Speaker 1: it's not crazy. No, But we so we had to
[34:38] Speaker 1: go to Punta Arenas. Es been there, been there, and
[34:41] Speaker 1: we were held for three days and they were about
[34:43] Speaker 1: the weather. Because of the weather, so they had to
[34:46] Speaker 1: We were like, so if they if they pushed your
[34:48] Speaker 1: trip back by three days, they canceled the entire cruise.
[34:52] Speaker 1: So we were on day three. It was just it
[34:54] Speaker 1: was like Groundhouse's day and like print rainas. It's lovely
[34:56] Speaker 1: Chile in town.
[34:58] Speaker 3: So nice, so yeah, so warm, so friendly.
[35:01] Speaker 1: Great friendly, great food and then great coffee, great coffee,
[35:06] Speaker 1: great sea bass. Anyway, and now I'm coming around and
[35:10] Speaker 1: we're coming around.
[35:12] Speaker 3: Did you not want to go?
[35:13] Speaker 2: I really didn't. It was going to be I don't
[35:14] Speaker 2: think you got to go.
[35:16] Speaker 3: Says you got to go. But you go with people
[35:18] Speaker 3: that are very very like the cruise we went on. Services.
[35:22] Speaker 3: You have to clean everything. I mean they are so
[35:25] Speaker 3: ecologically minded. You have to be so careful because you
[35:29] Speaker 3: can't take any of our viruses or bacteria or anything
[35:33] Speaker 3: into the into that continent.
[35:35] Speaker 1: Yes, you you can't. Even they won't let you kneel like,
[35:38] Speaker 1: they won't let you crouched down like.
[35:40] Speaker 3: They have to wipe everything. Yeah, it's very regimented, very
[35:43] Speaker 3: very sterile and clean yeah, yeah, right.
[35:47] Speaker 1: Exactly listen to us.
[35:52] Speaker 3: No, Well, it's it's kind of like.
[35:54] Speaker 1: It's a thing people, that's a thing.
[35:56] Speaker 3: You're going, you're yeah, And it's also there's still very
[35:59] Speaker 3: few people that are in. Yeah, what is the percentage?
[36:01] Speaker 1: I think it's like my mom was saying, it's like
[36:05] Speaker 1: one percent, which is not which makes it gives it
[36:07] Speaker 1: a bad rap. It's like it's not one percent clear
[36:10] Speaker 1: what people do?
[36:11] Speaker 3: You venturers?
[36:12] Speaker 2: Who?
[36:13] Speaker 3: And you're an adventurer.
[36:15] Speaker 2: Well, it was his parents dream to go, his mother's
[36:18] Speaker 2: dream to go.
[36:20] Speaker 1: Yes, as my parents. And it was like a good son.
[36:26] Speaker 1: I loved it son. It was great.
[36:29] Speaker 3: Yes, you didn't want to go, but you went.
[36:32] Speaker 1: I was genuinely excited.
[36:34] Speaker 3: Yes, I'm a good son.
[36:36] Speaker 1: Six right, Yes, I'm on six.
[36:39] Speaker 3: You haven't done seven.
[36:40] Speaker 1: I haven't done seven. So I was stolen valide content
[36:43] Speaker 1: have not done. I am dying to go to Africa.
[36:46] Speaker 1: I'm still having gone.
[36:47] Speaker 2: I need Africa.
[36:48] Speaker 1: Yes okay, and Anerica was, oh, but this is just
[36:52] Speaker 1: to say that, like we so they really got We
[36:55] Speaker 1: lost three days but we're on the ship. This is great.
[36:57] Speaker 1: And then I had to fly back in time to
[36:59] Speaker 1: do the actor wards. But then they kept pushing the
[37:03] Speaker 1: dates out of King because did you fly in or
[37:05] Speaker 1: did you cross Drake Passage?
[37:06] Speaker 3: We flew in.
[37:07] Speaker 2: We were yeah, we heard about this.
[37:11] Speaker 1: King George Island crazy.
[37:13] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[37:13] Speaker 1: So they wouldn't clear us to fly for three days.
[37:16] Speaker 1: So then we got the other, the flip side of
[37:18] Speaker 1: it on the way back, which is we're sailing Drake Passage,
[37:21] Speaker 1: which is where the Atlantic and the Pacific meat the
[37:24] Speaker 1: harshest waters happens.
[37:25] Speaker 3: If you don't, if you can't fly out, you you
[37:28] Speaker 3: do have to cross.
[37:29] Speaker 1: You do have to cross the passage.
[37:30] Speaker 3: I did not know that. I didn't do my full research.
[37:33] Speaker 1: No, And so when they broke the news to us,
[37:35] Speaker 1: the room erupted in equal cheers and groans of agony.
[37:41] Speaker 3: We were about the second we had it. We were
[37:43] Speaker 3: hell for an extra day, yes, And there was tears
[37:47] Speaker 3: of joy and tears of I've got to get back.
[37:50] Speaker 3: I've got a job to do. I'm going to lose
[37:52] Speaker 3: my job. We got to get off this boat.
[37:54] Speaker 1: So how did you and the daughters, how did you
[37:55] Speaker 1: guys react to that, to being held in.
[37:57] Speaker 3: I was happy, okay, and.
[38:00] Speaker 1: Now you're a cruise person, you said on.
[38:01] Speaker 3: It, And then I was like, but I got to
[38:03] Speaker 3: get off. I can do one day, maybe two days,
[38:08] Speaker 3: but I've got to get back.
[38:10] Speaker 1: So I think you and I are.
[38:11] Speaker 3: I'm a cruise person.
[38:12] Speaker 1: Now are you really? Yeah, because you said you have
[38:15] Speaker 1: you have two more planned? Oh yeah with Silver Sea. No, okay,
[38:19] Speaker 1: one with Silver Sea great, they're they're they're lovely.
[38:22] Speaker 3: And one with Ritz Carlton.
[38:23] Speaker 1: Oh fine, and the A.
[38:25] Speaker 3: I'm trying them all. I'm ready. I'm ready. But my daughters,
[38:30] Speaker 3: because there's only two of them, they're like, we want
[38:33] Speaker 3: our family. So my sister has six kids, they have partners,
[38:36] Speaker 3: they all so I bring everyone, and then my best
[38:38] Speaker 3: friend since I was four, all her children and their partner.
[38:42] Speaker 3: It's just we have a big tribe that we travel
[38:45] Speaker 3: with and we're all like and then Katie, who's here,
[38:51] Speaker 3: is like my sister. So we have like this huge
[38:54] Speaker 3: tribe of people. And there's two women that work with
[38:57] Speaker 3: me who've worked with me for years, who are also
[38:59] Speaker 3: like sister. So it's like, come on, we got to go.
[39:04] Speaker 3: And I love I grew up in a family where
[39:07] Speaker 3: we travel in big groups and we would do things
[39:11] Speaker 3: in big groups, so it's very comforting to me. Yeah,
[39:14] Speaker 3: so if I'm in the position to be able to
[39:16] Speaker 3: share and do it. Of course I'm doing it. I
[39:19] Speaker 3: will work so hard so I can play hard.
[39:22] Speaker 2: Yeah. And also it's like we were talking before the
[39:24] Speaker 2: episode started about like why you'd rewatch something you've already
[39:29] Speaker 2: seen or do something for me, It's often like I
[39:32] Speaker 2: want to watch other people experience this thing, you know
[39:35] Speaker 2: what I mean, Like sometimes I don't know what that is,
[39:37] Speaker 2: but yeah, it's like maybe there's something to it for you,
[39:39] Speaker 2: and wanting everyone to be together. It's like we're going
[39:41] Speaker 2: to have an experience together, and I really do enjoy
[39:45] Speaker 2: the I don't know what that what that would be called,
[39:48] Speaker 2: but that's sort of like transference that happens when someone
[39:51] Speaker 2: else is having a moment of awe and wonder or
[39:54] Speaker 2: whatever the emotion is. You might be able to anticipate
[39:57] Speaker 2: it yourself. But that's like, that's that's a thing.
[40:01] Speaker 3: It's a thing. It's a thing. That's why I love
[40:03] Speaker 3: throwing parties and giving gifts. Yeah, I love doing that.
[40:09] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a party girl. Yeah, I said once to somebody,
[40:14] Speaker 3: and my kids were making fun of me. Oh, I
[40:16] Speaker 3: love small dinner parties, but I also love a rave Yeah,
[40:20] Speaker 3: like does not go together, mom, And I'm like, for me,
[40:23] Speaker 3: it does.
[40:23] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:25] Speaker 1: You how do you feel do people still uh come
[40:30] Speaker 1: up to you and bring up Basement as sort of
[40:34] Speaker 1: a cultural like touched them now in a post Baby
[40:36] Speaker 1: Girl society.
[40:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, Baby Girl hit. We thought it was going to
[40:41] Speaker 3: be speak to older women primarily. It hit a younger
[40:46] Speaker 3: generation and gay men in a way that I had
[40:49] Speaker 3: no idea.
[40:50] Speaker 2: The milk was huge. Milk is back now because of it.
[40:52] Speaker 2: I had a glass of milk at dinner.
[40:54] Speaker 1: The other good.
[40:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, I just.
[40:59] Speaker 3: No, But it was fascinating what people related to in
[41:04] Speaker 3: that film. We thought it was a very very very
[41:07] Speaker 3: niche thing, and it actually kind of it moved. It
[41:12] Speaker 3: had tentacles that spread wide and then in the same
[41:17] Speaker 3: way that Big Little Eyes reached sort of a particular
[41:20] Speaker 3: group of people Baby Girl did.
[41:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[41:23] Speaker 3: I love that. Yeah, because it's unexpected to me, of course. Yeah.
[41:27] Speaker 3: But I loved I loved dancing in Baby Girl. Down
[41:30] Speaker 3: there in that basement, Oh so good. And we started
[41:34] Speaker 3: and I came out of that with COVID and the flu.
[41:38] Speaker 2: A double where that's where it goes down.
[41:42] Speaker 1: That's where it went down, And how did how did
[41:45] Speaker 1: it come back that you just ran all the tests.
[41:48] Speaker 3: I got so sick and they and I knew going in.
[41:52] Speaker 3: I was like, oh yeah, I'm going down here. I
[41:55] Speaker 3: can just feel it. It's the middle of Winner and
[41:57] Speaker 3: it's running rampant right now. So oh well, baby girl
[42:01] Speaker 3: went down, Baby girl, drop drop down.
[42:06] Speaker 1: You heard on all fours?
[42:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, not even on all fours. Flat on my back.
[42:13] Speaker 3: There we go.
[42:14] Speaker 2: Okay, we're getting now.
[42:16] Speaker 1: We are right now.
[42:17] Speaker 2: We now we have to ask you the question, which
[42:20] Speaker 2: is the central question of our podcast. What was the
[42:23] Speaker 2: culture that made you say culture was for you? This
[42:26] Speaker 2: can be a film, you saw a musical artist, something atmospheric.
[42:30] Speaker 3: No, I'm going to tell you couture, couture. Yeah, it
[42:36] Speaker 3: actually was because all my dreams were based on it.
[42:39] Speaker 3: I would look at like the clothes and fashion and
[42:45] Speaker 3: exquim and my mom would say, look at that and
[42:47] Speaker 3: look how it's made. So from Audrey Hepburn to Grace
[42:51] Speaker 3: Kelly to all the different houses Javona, all of them.
[42:55] Speaker 3: I that's what culturally for me made me dream Wow.
[43:00] Speaker 2: Fashion.
[43:01] Speaker 3: Oh, I grew up loving it. I somehow stumbled into
[43:05] Speaker 3: being exposed to it, standing there with Galiano fitting dresses
[43:11] Speaker 3: on me and Lagafel fitting dresses on me and being
[43:14] Speaker 3: on the cover of Vogue and having access to the
[43:18] Speaker 3: most beautiful things to wear on your body.
[43:21] Speaker 2: When did that start?
[43:23] Speaker 3: Was little, because I was I would stand on a
[43:26] Speaker 3: table and my grandmother would make all my clothes, but
[43:31] Speaker 3: not kind of just haphazard put them together, like hours
[43:35] Speaker 3: and hours and hours, and she would put little collars
[43:39] Speaker 3: on and little fur and a little trim and some ribbons.
[43:43] Speaker 3: Everything was yeah, couture. So I was baby couture.
[43:48] Speaker 1: Huh.
[43:48] Speaker 3: I was like yeah, And I would stand there for
[43:51] Speaker 3: hours because I wanted to wear the clothes.
[43:54] Speaker 2: Do you remember the Then I.
[43:56] Speaker 3: Addressed my Barbie in couture clothes because my grandmother would
[43:59] Speaker 3: make my Bobby clothes. So I had clothes for my
[44:02] Speaker 3: Bobby that nobody had. And then even my Kendle had guitar.
[44:10] Speaker 2: This is before Salome. So wait, when do you do
[44:14] Speaker 2: you remember the first designer or like artist in the
[44:18] Speaker 2: fashion world that you worked with directly and you felt like, oh,
[44:22] Speaker 2: this is a moment for me in terms of an
[44:25] Speaker 2: entry into the fashion world.
[44:27] Speaker 3: I mean the first one was John Galliano and I
[44:31] Speaker 3: was shooting iceword shut and so I was able to
[44:36] Speaker 3: go over to Paris regularly, and and I would stand
[44:41] Speaker 3: there for them and they would try things on me
[44:44] Speaker 3: and try different fabrics, and then I would go in
[44:47] Speaker 3: and try on the hats and and then I would
[44:50] Speaker 3: go to Carl's. How then it sort of just was
[44:54] Speaker 3: you know, it was just a bridge. And from that
[44:56] Speaker 3: point on I was and you had, really, they don't
[45:01] Speaker 3: come to you. You have to go to them, and
[45:03] Speaker 3: you have to be willing to be a mannequin like
[45:06] Speaker 3: a model and just stand there and let them, let
[45:11] Speaker 3: them design to you. And because I've been so tall
[45:14] Speaker 3: and skinny my whole life, suddenly there was a reason
[45:17] Speaker 3: to be tall and skinny. Yeah, I want it always
[45:21] Speaker 3: to be shortened curvey. And so suddenly it was like, oh,
[45:25] Speaker 3: I can be tall and skinny and somebody doesn't mind that.
[45:27] Speaker 1: And there's a purpose. I mean, what are you anticipating.
[45:30] Speaker 3: You can utilize it.
[45:31] Speaker 1: Of course, of course, are you anticipating anything in particular
[45:36] Speaker 1: with Mcalla this year as being part of the host committee,
[45:40] Speaker 1: Like because I feel like it's such a pivotal year
[45:42] Speaker 1: for well, I just get.
[45:44] Speaker 3: To be there with Beyonce. That's it done. Yeah, I'm
[45:49] Speaker 3: done here. We go.
[45:52] Speaker 2: And is it a thing where you guys do you
[45:54] Speaker 2: discussed you get as being part of the host community
[45:57] Speaker 2: with Anna.
[45:58] Speaker 3: Yeah, we work with Anna and who is iconic and
[46:02] Speaker 3: a genius.
[46:03] Speaker 1: No, she's she's staying on to always chair the Galla
[46:06] Speaker 1: the Galla.
[46:07] Speaker 3: Okay, we need Anna, we need Anna. Anna has created
[46:12] Speaker 3: so many people's careers. She's a massive supporter of art
[46:16] Speaker 3: and fashion and and women. I mean, she's she's extraordinary
[46:22] Speaker 3: and so therefore to be able to and it's this
[46:26] Speaker 3: is I think it's the third time I've coach had
[46:30] Speaker 3: I think so, but to do it now, I'm so
[46:35] Speaker 3: so happy. And my daughter Sunday will be coming amazing. Yeah.
[46:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's another thing you get to do with your daughter.
[46:43] Speaker 2: That's incredible.
[46:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, and she loves fashion. She's actually just walked the
[46:48] Speaker 3: door show. Jesus. Yeah, I'm back from Paris now. I know,
[46:53] Speaker 3: I know which I have nothing to do with. It's
[46:55] Speaker 3: her whole world and her relationship and she and Jonathan Anderson. Yeah,
[47:00] Speaker 3: it's incredible.
[47:01] Speaker 2: I was thinking as you were talking, like you mentioned
[47:03] Speaker 2: Grace Kelly who you got to portray. You mentioned Audrey Hepburn,
[47:06] Speaker 2: who obviously in Big Little lives, you guys all get
[47:08] Speaker 2: to do with the Audrey Hepper got and I did
[47:10] Speaker 2: read and the man. Of course I'll always be in
[47:13] Speaker 2: love with mat I mean yes. And also I wanted
[47:16] Speaker 2: to ask about Lucille Ball because I think that that's
[47:20] Speaker 2: one of my favorite performances you've ever done. You really
[47:23] Speaker 2: did capture just like her, like relentless commitment to get it,
[47:30] Speaker 2: just to getting it right. And I wonder if that's
[47:34] Speaker 2: something that you connected with that was it?
[47:36] Speaker 3: Like she she's a harder worker than me. She knew
[47:39] Speaker 3: what she wanted, she had to be. She came in
[47:42] Speaker 3: an era when she had to be such a trial blazer.
[47:46] Speaker 3: She had to. She was so brilliant that her and
[47:50] Speaker 3: comedy is detail.
[47:51] Speaker 4: Yep.
[47:52] Speaker 3: So, as she would say, comedy is detail. You can't
[47:55] Speaker 3: be generalized. You can't be haphazard. Sometimes you'll stumble on
[47:59] Speaker 3: a joke. But if you're really doing comedy and comedy
[48:03] Speaker 3: every week that has to deliver time and time again,
[48:06] Speaker 3: then that is arduous, hard technical, skilled work. It's not
[48:13] Speaker 3: just fly by night. Give it a whirl, you know,
[48:17] Speaker 3: And that's what that's what I learned from playing her.
[48:20] Speaker 3: She was also an amazing business woman at a time
[48:24] Speaker 3: when they were not women at the helm, and she
[48:28] Speaker 3: had a very you know, complicated love relationship and she
[48:32] Speaker 3: loved him and she was this, you know, just extraordinary
[48:38] Speaker 3: being so to be able to play her, whether I
[48:41] Speaker 3: looked like her or not, I was able to capture
[48:44] Speaker 3: her voice at least and her mannerisms. And then it
[48:46] Speaker 3: was like I couldn't get rid of her, and she
[48:48] Speaker 3: was in me. But it was so fun and half
[48:51] Speaker 3: the stuff that we prepared and everything was not in
[48:54] Speaker 3: the film, so really yeah, yeah.
[48:58] Speaker 2: The staging of the show, that's really cool.
[49:01] Speaker 3: So I could do every movement, every single movement like
[49:05] Speaker 3: by I studied and studied and with a movement like
[49:09] Speaker 3: we did so much prep and then a tiny bit
[49:12] Speaker 3: of it is in there. But that's that's performance. You
[49:15] Speaker 3: have to do an enormous amount of work and maybe
[49:17] Speaker 3: it makes the cut or maybe it doesn't. It can't
[49:20] Speaker 3: be attached to it.
[49:21] Speaker 2: Kind of complicated theater that was doing sitcom at the
[49:24] Speaker 2: time that I guess you have.
[49:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I was doing but like gosh, and
[49:28] Speaker 1: we're talking about it because I completely agree, and I
[49:31] Speaker 1: was It's funny. I was even watching Being the Ricardos
[49:34] Speaker 1: when I had Omicron and I had to miss my
[49:37] Speaker 1: only SNL which was that which was that episode in
[49:41] Speaker 1: December twenty twenty one. But I was watching you and
[49:44] Speaker 1: it did just give me this. It just did just
[49:46] Speaker 1: download me with this notion that, like you have to
[49:50] Speaker 1: be comedy is logistics, would you say earlier, comedy is detail? Yeah,
[49:55] Speaker 1: detail all in the d It's all in the details.
[49:58] Speaker 3: And then where's the laugh?
[49:59] Speaker 2: Was?
[49:59] Speaker 3: Okay, there it is. And they were lucky because they
[50:02] Speaker 3: have the live studio audience so they had the feedback.
[50:05] Speaker 3: I think it must be so hard trying to do
[50:08] Speaker 3: that without that, because this is like, okay, great, we
[50:11] Speaker 3: know that works. We know that. It's like when you
[50:13] Speaker 3: do theater and you go, great, that's working. Oh you're
[50:16] Speaker 3: surprised at what works, and then you go, jeez, I
[50:19] Speaker 3: thought that wasn't gonna work, and that just landed. We'll
[50:22] Speaker 3: hold that, save that. We can lay of that now,
[50:25] Speaker 3: and now we can add and add and add.
[50:27] Speaker 2: There's also nothing more distracting than an artificial laugh track,
[50:31] Speaker 2: like some of some of the multicams that they know,
[50:35] Speaker 2: the multicams that they do now, where you can tell
[50:37] Speaker 2: there's an artificial laugh track. I don't think we I mean,
[50:40] Speaker 2: we probably didn't need it, no, because it's just we
[50:43] Speaker 2: know from years of growing up on that.
[50:45] Speaker 1: Like it's like watching an AI video. It's like, I
[50:48] Speaker 1: know the artifice here.
[50:49] Speaker 2: It's just a little off in terms of the volume
[50:53] Speaker 2: of the reaction or the timing of the reaction.
[50:56] Speaker 1: I mean, but you've never hosted SNL before.
[50:58] Speaker 2: No, back in the nineties you did.
[51:00] Speaker 1: Oh oh oh yeah. I does this motivate you to
[51:02] Speaker 1: do it? Did any of that motivate you? Or are
[51:05] Speaker 1: you yeah?
[51:05] Speaker 3: I would love to do it again.
[51:07] Speaker 2: Oh you should.
[51:07] Speaker 3: It's just a lot of work, it is. It's a
[51:10] Speaker 3: lot of wie.
[51:11] Speaker 1: It's about sort of gosh, it's because I was gonna
[51:13] Speaker 1: say it's it's about relinquishing the control but also being
[51:16] Speaker 1: so just so fastidious with it too.
[51:20] Speaker 3: I'm happy to relinquish control to people that know what
[51:23] Speaker 3: they're doing. So I would be happy to come back
[51:25] Speaker 3: and do it and try stuff and just play, because
[51:28] Speaker 3: really it is playing, right. But it's also when you
[51:32] Speaker 3: have two kids and you live in Nashville, and you work,
[51:35] Speaker 3: and you've got a whole other it's a lot to
[51:38] Speaker 3: commit to. But it would. I mean, it's an honor
[51:41] Speaker 3: if you ever asked, So, yeah, bow down, I would like,
[51:45] Speaker 3: I would so love to. I'm sort of ready now
[51:47] Speaker 3: because I'm also at a place where I go, Yeah.
[51:50] Speaker 1: Let's do it.
[51:51] Speaker 3: Give it a try. You fall flat on your face.
[51:54] Speaker 1: It's okay, get back up, you dear diarrhea island.
[51:58] Speaker 2: You have no idea where I've been and what it
[52:00] Speaker 2: smelled like.
[52:03] Speaker 3: A particulous smell.
[52:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, I not replica, are you?
[52:09] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[52:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going to get to this part of you
[52:12] Speaker 3: have a personality.
[52:13] Speaker 2: You have a heightened smell. Yeah, well you complemented.
[52:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm either drawn to or drawn away based on
[52:22] Speaker 3: a smell.
[52:23] Speaker 2: Thank god you're still here, and.
[52:26] Speaker 3: You made me laugh and I love you both, and
[52:30] Speaker 3: I love how you smell.
[52:32] Speaker 1: This is good.
[52:36] Speaker 2: Okay, So I do we have to ask you this
[52:38] Speaker 2: other thing, which is so we've had Reese and Laura
[52:41] Speaker 2: here now the best, the best time with both of them.
[52:46] Speaker 2: Reese came in and she did an impression of you.
[52:50] Speaker 3: I've heard it and it's wrong. Wrong.
[52:53] Speaker 2: Laura came in and did an impression of Reeese. So
[52:57] Speaker 2: we have to know if you have a Laura dr
[53:02] Speaker 2: in a way you definitely do.
[53:04] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, now let's talk about.
[53:14] Speaker 2: Right.
[53:15] Speaker 3: I know, Yes, it's the warmest, most responsive and you go,
[53:22] Speaker 3: she gets me.
[53:24] Speaker 2: Her spirits. Yeah that is wow r Yeah it is,
[53:30] Speaker 2: isn't it? And then she said like it's a little
[53:34] Speaker 2: bit at the elbows. You know what I mean.
[53:37] Speaker 1: From here I'm saying.
[53:40] Speaker 3: But seeing those two together, watching them improv, oh my god, hilarious. Yeah,
[53:47] Speaker 3: they should actually have their own improv show. The Yeah, hilarious.
[53:53] Speaker 2: We were laughing.
[53:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, but you haven't seen them together, no, throw it back.
[53:58] Speaker 3: I mean they're both brit comedians, Yes, brilliant. And then
[54:02] Speaker 3: I just worked with one of the other brilliant comedians
[54:04] Speaker 3: of my generation. And Sandy Buller, oh magic too, Yeah,
[54:11] Speaker 3: I mean those women own it of course, come on yeah,
[54:16] Speaker 3: and and Julia Julia, oh of course, the great comedians
[54:20] Speaker 3: of Can we not.
[54:21] Speaker 2: Sleep on your performance and just go with it?
[54:23] Speaker 1: Please?
[54:24] Speaker 2: Okay, because there are people I know and I'm going
[54:26] Speaker 2: to shout them out, Jared Frieder, who says that's Nicholl's best. Yes,
[54:31] Speaker 2: just go with it. You don't have you have no
[54:33] Speaker 2: idea how many.
[54:34] Speaker 3: Dave Matthews where I'm dancing on the thing.
[54:36] Speaker 1: You've got to do everyone, haven't you done. It's amazing,
[54:41] Speaker 1: It's truly incredible.
[54:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, we're in I was in Hawaii with Adam Sandler
[54:45] Speaker 3: and Jen I mean, John, can it? Can it get
[54:48] Speaker 3: better than that?
[54:48] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[54:49] Speaker 3: And Dave Matthew.
[54:50] Speaker 2: We got to get you in the Morning Show. Yeah,
[54:52] Speaker 2: we're going to get you in there with recent gen
[54:54] Speaker 2: on the Morning Show.
[54:55] Speaker 3: In all my spare time, I do have.
[54:58] Speaker 2: A question about how you do all of it? Do
[55:00] Speaker 2: your calendar and is it? Are you booked through December
[55:03] Speaker 2: at this point?
[55:04] Speaker 1: Actually not, you're not, No, I'm not.
[55:07] Speaker 2: Is that a purposeful choice for this year?
[55:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm open as of the summer. I'm just like,
[55:12] Speaker 3: I'm going, Okay, what's coming my way? I give you,
[55:19] Speaker 3: But I'm I'm I've got some holidays planned.
[55:22] Speaker 2: There we go.
[55:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm all about the vacation. Yes, right, So so
[55:29] Speaker 3: I got a cruise planned.
[55:30] Speaker 2: Yes, where are you going?
[55:32] Speaker 3: I can't tell, I'll tell you please.
[55:36] Speaker 2: I'm going to Thailand for the first time.
[55:39] Speaker 3: Lovely. Oh yeah, I love Thailand. Yeah, all over Thailand.
[55:42] Speaker 3: I do feel like, for some reason, filmed in Thailand.
[55:45] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's twice.
[55:47] Speaker 3: I did bank Call Kilton when I was really really young,
[55:49] Speaker 3: and then I did a film Railway Man.
[55:51] Speaker 2: Oh, yes, yes, yes.
[55:52] Speaker 3: No you don't know that.
[55:53] Speaker 2: I don't think yeah, but.
[55:58] Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes.
[56:00] Speaker 2: Nicole, yes, yes, I'm happy you didn't. You can't watch
[56:05] Speaker 2: it all. But no, I'm excited because I do feel
[56:10] Speaker 2: like it's this weird, random thing that keeps happening where
[56:12] Speaker 2: I end up going on a vacation to whatever. The
[56:14] Speaker 2: last White lotus was, thank you, Mike White.
[56:21] Speaker 3: Where is he going next? Where did he say he's going?
[56:23] Speaker 1: Well, you should get ahead of it.
[56:25] Speaker 2: He's going to it's you.
[56:28] Speaker 3: That's the rumor far out that's gonna that's gonna throw down, right,
[56:34] Speaker 3: this is what the.
[56:37] Speaker 1: Well he said.
[56:39] Speaker 2: There was an interview he did the other day where
[56:40] Speaker 2: he said the interview deals some with celebrity and about
[56:44] Speaker 2: people who are comfortable being seeking out a love that
[56:48] Speaker 2: is more than just with one other person. They need
[56:51] Speaker 2: a love of something larger, and about answering that question
[56:54] Speaker 2: of why and about how people can feel when they're
[56:58] Speaker 2: in a relationship with someone who needs more love than
[57:01] Speaker 2: just one person can provide really interesting and I think that,
[57:05] Speaker 2: like you know, obviously there's going to.
[57:07] Speaker 3: Well if that comes back to that person is not
[57:09] Speaker 3: satiated with themselves, right, they're not in love with themselves?
[57:15] Speaker 1: Right? Is that what.
[57:18] Speaker 3: They're not at peace?
[57:19] Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
[57:20] Speaker 3: So that's a pretty you're I mean, you're going to
[57:25] Speaker 3: face You're going to have to face the reality of
[57:30] Speaker 3: what this life is at some point. So whether you're
[57:33] Speaker 3: going to allow yourself to come to that place or
[57:36] Speaker 3: whether you're just gonna get felt by it, right, it's
[57:41] Speaker 3: it's a choice. So you can do the work to
[57:43] Speaker 3: actually try to and it's never done, but you can
[57:47] Speaker 3: always be going, Okay, what do I do here? How
[57:50] Speaker 3: do I what? What is the next chapter? Particular, when
[57:52] Speaker 3: you get to a certain stage in life, it's like, okay,
[57:54] Speaker 3: where am I at now? With who I am? And
[57:57] Speaker 3: am I okay being alone? Because as soon as you're
[58:01] Speaker 3: okay with and when I say being alone, like really
[58:04] Speaker 3: being sure, it's not just being alone for a couple
[58:07] Speaker 3: of days in your in your apartment, it's am I
[58:10] Speaker 3: okay with being alone? There will be nobody there when
[58:14] Speaker 3: I die? Is that going to be okay?
[58:17] Speaker 1: Are you no?
[58:18] Speaker 3: But you know you can't. You don't know. So at
[58:21] Speaker 3: some point you've got to just face the facts.
[58:24] Speaker 1: It's which is about your guy?
[58:28] Speaker 2: Geez? Right there? True.
[58:31] Speaker 3: I think about yeah, three am in the morning when
[58:34] Speaker 3: you wake up and you are alone. Well, that then
[58:37] Speaker 3: is like, okay, this is where I have to be
[58:39] Speaker 3: at peace.
[58:40] Speaker 1: And being a piece is just about like assigning meaning
[58:43] Speaker 1: to if the meaning you're assigning to your life is
[58:46] Speaker 1: not like deleterious in some aspect to your vitality. It's
[58:51] Speaker 1: like if it's like this thing of like if you
[58:53] Speaker 1: were if your love has to involve the love of
[58:58] Speaker 1: other people in this way, that is a little grotesque
[59:00] Speaker 1: or untenable or unsustainable. It's like that is going to
[59:03] Speaker 1: eat away at something. You have to find. You have
[59:06] Speaker 1: to switch gears and find a different reason to like
[59:08] Speaker 1: be alive and to give yourself meaning besides this thing
[59:12] Speaker 1: that is not healthy for you.
[59:13] Speaker 2: You can't give you what you're needing from it.
[59:16] Speaker 3: Never will never never.
[59:19] Speaker 2: Mike White, and do you ever watch any reality television,
[59:25] Speaker 2: because he's fully on Survivor right now. You to know this.
[59:29] Speaker 2: Mike White is a Survivor contestant. He came in second. Oh,
[59:32] Speaker 2: I'm so happy to tell you this. He came in
[59:35] Speaker 2: second on a season of Survivor years ago, post him
[59:39] Speaker 2: being a well known Hollywood writer. Way after you know,
[59:42] Speaker 2: School of Rock and Enlightened and all of that. He
[59:44] Speaker 2: went on Survivor, came in second place in a tough
[59:48] Speaker 2: like to eat something. I'm sure it's what do you
[59:51] Speaker 2: have to do?
[59:53] Speaker 1: Live?
[59:53] Speaker 2: You gotta live, you gotta do the tribal council, the votes,
[59:56] Speaker 2: all that come in second place, second, And now he's
[59:59] Speaker 2: on the This is the fiftieth season where they've brought
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: back all the icons of the show. And I guess
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: some somehow he fit into his schedule going out there
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: for nearly thirty days and competing on Survivor. He's on
[1:00:11] Speaker 2: it right now.
[1:00:12] Speaker 3: How's he doing.
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: Well, It's only one week, but so far, so good.
[1:00:15] Speaker 2: And his whole narrative in the first episode was and
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: he had like this ripped body, and everyone was like
[1:00:21] Speaker 2: Mike White, but I was like, I mean, man, it's
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: got a Hollywood trainer.
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: There you go.
[1:00:27] Speaker 2: That was the whole His whole narrative on the first
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: episode was, Oh my god, he's ripped.
[1:00:31] Speaker 3: That's crazy. I had no idea.
[1:00:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, but you watch everything but reality TV. No.
[1:00:39] Speaker 3: I sometimes watch reality TV. I've watched it with my
[1:00:42] Speaker 3: daughters and I've been like, oh no, this is too much.
[1:00:44] Speaker 3: Turn it off. I'm not allowed to talk about what
[1:00:48] Speaker 3: they're into anything. Okay, I'm too what I get called
[1:00:54] Speaker 3: millennial So.
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: During the jo the club.
[1:00:59] Speaker 3: Place, and that's not a compliment, right.
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: Right, But you do have reputation, like like for watching
[1:01:09] Speaker 2: a lot like Reese does the impression of you being like,
[1:01:12] Speaker 2: we have to get this to me.
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: But I watch films and I watch Yeah, I'm like, yeah,
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: I'm like, who is this over here in Norway right now?
[1:01:22] Speaker 3: And over Yeah, I'm like I love to that. I've
[1:01:26] Speaker 3: grown up doing that. I would go and I would
[1:01:29] Speaker 3: sit in a dark there and I would watch subtitle
[1:01:31] Speaker 3: films since I was little. Yeah, it was my access
[1:01:36] Speaker 3: to the world. And I also wanted to raise global children.
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: So that's why my kids have been to seven continents.
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: That's amazing as of two weeks ago or three weeks ago.
[1:01:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, crazy, right, they hit seven at what ages?
[1:01:48] Speaker 3: She's fifteen?
[1:01:49] Speaker 1: The yeah, beautiful, that's amazing.
[1:01:53] Speaker 3: Yeah. Now they've got to go round.
[1:01:55] Speaker 2: To find a continent. There is the moon, the eighth continent,
[1:02:02] Speaker 2: the moon. It's actually real culture number fifteen.
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: There is the moon, the eighth the Moon.
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: Well, I'm trying to think if before we do I
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: don't think so, honey. If there's anything else, I need
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: to pick our guests. Oh no, an expression I don't
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: like pick brain brain.
[1:02:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, you can pick my brain, pick my heart your herd?
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: Oh okay, wait, you know that you have one of
[1:02:23] Speaker 2: the most iconic vokes seventy three questions.
[1:02:26] Speaker 1: I do you do?
[1:02:27] Speaker 3: I did not know?
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: My six our packs?
[1:02:31] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I mean there's only four.
[1:02:34] Speaker 1: Now there's only four. Sorry, yeah, we're gonna get two
[1:02:37] Speaker 1: new ones.
[1:02:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, good, Yeah, we got to keep it at
[1:02:40] Speaker 2: six out packers, my six our packers.
[1:02:42] Speaker 3: And then they're like, can you lead the outpackat through
[1:02:44] Speaker 3: the frame. We're like no, no, you do not understand.
[1:02:47] Speaker 3: We're like, come on, come on, come on. Byron named
[1:02:51] Speaker 3: after Lord Byron, come on, come on Byron.
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: No.
[1:02:55] Speaker 3: Byron was like no. Then we're like, forget it. It
[1:02:57] Speaker 3: just doesn't look good. By we're pulling, So just like, no,
[1:03:03] Speaker 3: sit on the porch on the steps.
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: How many takes?
[1:03:06] Speaker 2: Wass uh?
[1:03:09] Speaker 3: Maybe six?
[1:03:10] Speaker 2: Oh wow, it's a it's a long day.
[1:03:13] Speaker 3: It's a long day, but you kind of play and yeah,
[1:03:15] Speaker 3: but you walked all through my country estate.
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: I love it.
[1:03:20] Speaker 3: It's different. Now okay, yeah, I've redesigned it. I redid it.
[1:03:24] Speaker 3: Might might need another seventy three questions, then.
[1:03:27] Speaker 2: We have to go back. We'll do it. That want
[1:03:30] Speaker 2: to do it? Yeah, more animal, there you go, reason
[1:03:33] Speaker 2: to return.
[1:03:35] Speaker 3: Questions and perfect for the first time. Two horses horses.
[1:03:42] Speaker 3: You didn't meet the horses. We didn't get to many many.
[1:03:45] Speaker 2: More because he had never Okay, so he had he
[1:03:48] Speaker 2: had a blind spot, which was he had a blind
[1:03:53] Speaker 2: just to die for? Which was I love now, love
[1:03:58] Speaker 2: to die for? I love Susanstone, su Sandstone.
[1:04:01] Speaker 3: I feel like sand Stone is a killer.
[1:04:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I love her for pretty killer. She was
[1:04:07] Speaker 2: a gorgeous skiller. But I have to say like that,
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: there's just something again, maybe it.
[1:04:12] Speaker 3: Is Henry and I can't believe I wrote that.
[1:04:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, and Gus.
[1:04:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, buck Henry for everyone. If you saw The Graduate,
[1:04:20] Speaker 3: he wrote The Graduate and he's one of the great
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: great writers. And then Gus Vincent, what can we say?
[1:04:25] Speaker 2: I also shout out to obviously walking but Ileana Douglas,
[1:04:30] Speaker 2: Oh amazing in that movie and gets lost in the
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: conversation of great performances from that era. That's a great performance.
[1:04:37] Speaker 1: Was she already a skater? When you guys.
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: She couldn't. She said she could skate.
[1:04:41] Speaker 1: Hey, we're at I love it.
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: Can you I skate? Absolutely as and then she was
[1:04:46] Speaker 3: on the ice not so good. It's so good in
[1:04:52] Speaker 3: the movie in a double, but she did. She got there.
[1:04:57] Speaker 3: But you know that's what you say. Can you ride
[1:04:59] Speaker 3: a host? Can you I skate? Yes? I can? Can you?
[1:05:03] Speaker 2: What have you?
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: I've said yeah, I can sing? And then Baz is like,
[1:05:09] Speaker 3: we're going to need more singing lessons. You know, it's
[1:05:13] Speaker 3: always yes, and then you.
[1:05:15] Speaker 1: Grow because you know who I'm talking. I'm talking to
[1:05:18] Speaker 1: Gina because her book My Love I Will Yeah, all
[1:05:23] Speaker 1: through her memory she's like every every roll I've got,
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: like show Girls, can you dance? Yeah, it's yes, I will.
[1:05:33] Speaker 1: I will.
[1:05:34] Speaker 2: But then it's going to become that thing where it's
[1:05:35] Speaker 2: like can you ski? And I'm going to be like yeah,
[1:05:38] Speaker 2: and you really can't, and then it's a hazard. So
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: say yes within reason people, yeah, and.
[1:05:44] Speaker 3: You dangerous when you say it's like how much do
[1:05:47] Speaker 3: you want? Want the role?
[1:05:48] Speaker 2: Exactly?
[1:05:50] Speaker 3: And they're onto us now because then they're like, okay,
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: we'll show us.
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: Video.
[1:05:55] Speaker 1: They've got it.
[1:05:56] Speaker 3: They've hacked us directors and produces a like send me
[1:06:04] Speaker 3: a tape, show me.
[1:06:05] Speaker 1: Not that anyone has to put you through your piece.
[1:06:07] Speaker 2: I know, like you've proven you can do everything. Also,
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: like what I'm on, I'm on.
[1:06:14] Speaker 3: I'm just on a massive learning curve. I'm always like, okay,
[1:06:17] Speaker 3: teach me, teach me. I'm teachable. That would be a
[1:06:21] Speaker 3: good attribute to say, I'm teachable.
[1:06:23] Speaker 2: Teachable, that's a great thing to be.
[1:06:26] Speaker 1: I think it's it is.
[1:06:28] Speaker 2: I don't think so, honey, And I'm not rigid.
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: I always wake up, yes, I.
[1:06:34] Speaker 3: Always always always.
[1:06:36] Speaker 2: What do you attribute that to?
[1:06:38] Speaker 3: I don't know. Born that way always, I've always woken
[1:06:43] Speaker 3: up in a good mood.
[1:06:45] Speaker 2: Does that correlate to how you go to bed?
[1:06:48] Speaker 3: I go to bed. I have trouble sleeping because I
[1:06:51] Speaker 3: have a lot of energy. Yeah, you or not after midday,
[1:06:57] Speaker 3: but I did today. That's why I'm kind of jacked up. Now,
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: can you tell me? I'm usually a lot more sedate. Yeah,
[1:07:05] Speaker 3: I feel a bit jacked up.
[1:07:06] Speaker 2: Actually, I had a cold brewt today and then two
[1:07:09] Speaker 2: Coke zero, so I'm a killing machine.
[1:07:11] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:07:12] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:07:12] Speaker 3: Will you sleep tonight?
[1:07:14] Speaker 2: Maybe not, but that would be because I was so
[1:07:15] Speaker 2: excited about this. No, I'm serious, we have been dying.
[1:07:21] Speaker 2: I know.
[1:07:21] Speaker 1: It felt cosmically right when when on the boat you
[1:07:24] Speaker 1: were like, you know, who's just here' Nicole Kim and
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: I was like, I'm talking to her next week. It
[1:07:27] Speaker 1: was it was crazy. I feel like even though you
[1:07:31] Speaker 1: are capping post mid day, it is still talking to
[1:07:35] Speaker 1: you and being with you in person. It is still
[1:07:37] Speaker 1: the thing of like, oh well, Nicole Kimen like has
[1:07:41] Speaker 1: levitated in all her roles essentially, you know what I mean.
[1:07:43] Speaker 1: It's you have this like airy lightness.
[1:07:47] Speaker 3: You can feel so good.
[1:07:50] Speaker 2: Well, you have given so much to culture, and that's
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: what our podcast is about. And we've now been doing
[1:07:56] Speaker 2: it for ten years. And I would imagine you probably
[1:07:58] Speaker 2: come up like you know, quite often to say the least.
[1:08:03] Speaker 2: And I just think back to all the eras of
[1:08:06] Speaker 2: like our life as moviegoers, and you have a place
[1:08:10] Speaker 2: in all of them, and I just and in so
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: many different ways, like whether it's like as mainstream as
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: Batman or as niche as something like birth, you know
[1:08:19] Speaker 2: what I mean, or you know Dogville or dog Ville.
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: I mean like this is like you are a true
[1:08:26] Speaker 2: you have a true artist spirit, and you're also this
[1:08:30] Speaker 2: like Megawatt movie star, and they just they don't make
[1:08:34] Speaker 2: them like it anymore. Like Margot Robbie must be like
[1:08:38] Speaker 2: sister Tea.
[1:08:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, and I love Emma Stone. She's so brave and
[1:08:43] Speaker 3: she's just like, yeah, shave my head. Absolutely, what do
[1:08:48] Speaker 3: you want your ghost? Let's go.
[1:08:49] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:08:50] Speaker 3: But then you know, I've I've just went and worked
[1:08:53] Speaker 3: with Osgod Perkins. I did a small role in Young People,
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: which is this horror film that he's got coming in,
[1:08:59] Speaker 3: and I love him and wanted to go and support him.
[1:09:02] Speaker 3: So he's like, I've written this role. It's three days work,
[1:09:04] Speaker 3: and I'm like, yep, yep, I'm coming coming your way.
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:09:08] Speaker 3: So I just love being able to do something like
[1:09:10] Speaker 3: Practical Magic, which is a big studio film, and then
[1:09:13] Speaker 3: go do a fully independent, crazy wild thing. Can you
[1:09:18] Speaker 3: give a bunch of really great young actresses who are
[1:09:21] Speaker 3: rising stars.
[1:09:22] Speaker 2: I mean we're friends with Meghan Fay and.
[1:09:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I just yeah, And she's she's so good. She
[1:09:31] Speaker 3: is on the cusp of being massive.
[1:09:35] Speaker 2: She can do it all. She can do it all, yeah,
[1:09:37] Speaker 2: I mean.
[1:09:37] Speaker 3: And she's sort of effortless.
[1:09:40] Speaker 1: She was in this movie.
[1:09:40] Speaker 2: Called Drop, which came out last year, which was She
[1:09:42] Speaker 2: plays a single mom, recently single mom who goes on
[1:09:46] Speaker 2: the first date she's been on since her abuse. Her
[1:09:49] Speaker 2: husband like took his own life and tried to kill her,
[1:09:53] Speaker 2: and she's finally got her legs again, and she goes
[1:09:56] Speaker 2: on a blind date with this guy and she sits
[1:09:59] Speaker 2: down at dinner and she starts getting air dropped messages
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: from someone at her home who's kidnapped her son. And
[1:10:05] Speaker 2: so it's just it's sort of like like a it's
[1:10:07] Speaker 2: like a red Eye meets like I don't even know.
[1:10:11] Speaker 3: It's I'm going to watch it.
[1:10:12] Speaker 1: Oh, it's good.
[1:10:13] Speaker 2: And Megan is fantastic, and she holds the frame and
[1:10:16] Speaker 2: she's just so.
[1:10:17] Speaker 3: She's gorgeous and she's talented.
[1:10:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna teach her after this. Yeah yeah, But anyways,
[1:10:24] Speaker 2: all that and more. Don't think so, honey, which we
[1:10:29] Speaker 2: take one minute to tear something up in culture. We
[1:10:33] Speaker 2: time it, you'll see how it goes. No, I know,
[1:10:36] Speaker 2: all right, I'm ready to go, and it's not going
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: to be popular with with the rest of the panel
[1:10:40] Speaker 2: here today, but I'm just gonna go ahead.
[1:10:41] Speaker 1: And I know where this is going. I think Matt Rogers,
[1:10:43] Speaker 1: I don't think so money as time starts.
[1:10:44] Speaker 2: Now, I don't think so, honey, Antarctica, because I FaceTime
[1:10:48] Speaker 2: my girl on the way to Antarctica, and she's soup
[1:10:51] Speaker 2: pine in a rickety vessel.
[1:10:54] Speaker 1: With the what do you call it, a scop past,
[1:10:58] Speaker 1: a scop.
[1:10:58] Speaker 2: Patch, whatever this is. To learn what that is, He's
[1:11:02] Speaker 2: got the scott patch whatever it is, however you goddamn
[1:11:04] Speaker 2: spell it on his neck. I go, is that helping?
[1:11:06] Speaker 2: He goes, yeah, But I can't see my girl's cross
[1:11:09] Speaker 2: eyed soup pine on the Drake's passage. Now I know
[1:11:12] Speaker 2: what the Drake's passage is. The most treacherous water is.
[1:11:14] Speaker 2: So the Atlantic meets the Pacific. I don't think so, honey,
[1:11:17] Speaker 2: keep them separate. I see my girl finally gets to Antarctica,
[1:11:21] Speaker 2: takes a few pictures, sends me a video. It's the
[1:11:24] Speaker 2: iceberg falling apart the iceberg. Takes the video of the iceberg,
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: and I say, now, is that supposed to happen? He says,
[1:11:30] Speaker 2: They go yes and no. I go, okay, not great
[1:11:33] Speaker 2: information from me on tonight. I don't think so, honey. Antarctica,
[1:11:37] Speaker 2: you can kind of get there, kind of not you
[1:11:39] Speaker 2: have to wait days. Nicole Kimmon's flying in on an ice.
[1:11:44] Speaker 2: What is it called the pathway? I don't know, so, honey,
[1:11:49] Speaker 2: I don't think so, honey. And that's one man. Maybe
[1:11:53] Speaker 2: not for me. I can get I can get Africa
[1:11:56] Speaker 2: in and that'll be six.
[1:11:57] Speaker 3: And you, Yeah, we will work on you.
[1:12:01] Speaker 1: I just know that's a bad that they're not.
[1:12:04] Speaker 3: We can delete that.
[1:12:07] Speaker 2: We're deleting. We can delete that on this mony. Okay,
[1:12:09] Speaker 2: I will say, yeah, I had planned to do that once,
[1:12:11] Speaker 2: so I did it. But you guys do make it
[1:12:13] Speaker 2: sound really appealing and adventurous. The quiet.
[1:12:18] Speaker 3: You've already changed your mind.
[1:12:23] Speaker 1: The patch is transdermal. It steadies your optic nerves, so
[1:12:27] Speaker 1: then I couldn't see.
[1:12:29] Speaker 3: Yikes. I didn't do the patch. I just was pug.
[1:12:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I did it.
[1:12:36] Speaker 3: I'm a Navy seal. Yeah no, I've been told that
[1:12:40] Speaker 3: with pain.
[1:12:41] Speaker 2: Really, yeah, what what made someone say that to you?
[1:12:44] Speaker 3: Because I can no, No, for some reason, destroyer and
[1:12:49] Speaker 3: just still not even go and get it X ray
[1:12:51] Speaker 3: and not check it and walk around and just say
[1:12:53] Speaker 3: it's a pull muscle. Really yeah?
[1:12:56] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[1:12:57] Speaker 3: Holy, Now that's not not normal all for a redhead,
[1:13:00] Speaker 3: because usually you feel extra pain.
[1:13:02] Speaker 2: That's what they say felt yeah.
[1:13:05] Speaker 3: The way there, Yeah, it's something to do. They just say, well,
[1:13:09] Speaker 3: I'm not that Yeah, I can like I don't know.
[1:13:12] Speaker 3: I put myself in a trance. They go, do you
[1:13:15] Speaker 3: need the anesthesia?
[1:13:17] Speaker 2: No, huh, so you need a do survivor.
[1:13:21] Speaker 3: What you're saying whish I know Mike was doing it.
[1:13:23] Speaker 3: I would have done it with him.
[1:13:24] Speaker 2: I don't think it's too late. We might get him
[1:13:26] Speaker 2: back for another season.
[1:13:27] Speaker 3: If you should have texted me and said you want
[1:13:30] Speaker 3: to do this together, honestly, we would have gone head
[1:13:34] Speaker 3: to head. I definitely would have come in second. I
[1:13:38] Speaker 3: think I think I will come in last though, because
[1:13:40] Speaker 3: I give up easily.
[1:13:41] Speaker 2: No, you don't. You can walk around with a broken board.
[1:13:44] Speaker 3: No, But in terms of a competition, that's that I
[1:13:47] Speaker 3: would just go, I give up?
[1:13:50] Speaker 2: Are you not a competitor.
[1:13:50] Speaker 3: I'm not good to have on a sports team because
[1:13:53] Speaker 3: I was always chosen last for the volleyball team, because
[1:13:57] Speaker 3: I just was like, wow, is this really important to
[1:14:02] Speaker 3: win this? I'm not a good doubles tennis partner because
[1:14:05] Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, I can psychologic. I need I need
[1:14:09] Speaker 3: some sports psychology.
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: I got.
[1:14:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, I give up. I'm like didn't matter. We lost
[1:14:16] Speaker 3: six zero. I'm so sorry.
[1:14:18] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.
[1:14:24] Speaker 3: It's just too stressful. Life's too stressful.
[1:14:26] Speaker 2: It's too stressful to care about.
[1:14:30] Speaker 3: Not all the tennis match. Let's just play some recreational tennis.
[1:14:35] Speaker 2: Hit the ball, said, hit the ball?
[1:14:39] Speaker 3: What are you doing?
[1:14:41] Speaker 2: Serve it? They're not going to get what they want, right,
[1:14:46] Speaker 2: your tennis partner.
[1:14:48] Speaker 3: But I'll play, and I'll wear a short tennis girt
[1:14:51] Speaker 3: and I look.
[1:14:52] Speaker 2: Cute the vibes.
[1:14:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, ur.
[1:15:00] Speaker 2: Are you ready? Here we go?
[1:15:03] Speaker 3: Really fall.
[1:15:05] Speaker 2: This is mownangus. I don't think Sony. His time starts now.
[1:15:07] Speaker 1: I don't think Sony. The scam, the long con that
[1:15:11] Speaker 1: is outdoor furniture. What do you mean I gotta tie
[1:15:16] Speaker 1: it down? What do you mean that a cough of
[1:15:19] Speaker 1: a Victorian child could blow the cushions into another yard?
[1:15:25] Speaker 1: Now I'm doing parkour from one patio to the next,
[1:15:30] Speaker 1: just to fetch my damn stained, water stained cushions for
[1:15:36] Speaker 1: my thrickity Ratton reptan chair. I gotta tie up the
[1:15:43] Speaker 1: umbrella that is also going to be marked by the
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: the dirt and minerals of rain. I don't know, man,
[1:15:51] Speaker 1: if you gotta tie down anything starting blow away like tumbleweed.
[1:15:56] Speaker 1: I don't think it's worth buying and placing in in
[1:15:59] Speaker 1: the in your own space. Outdoor furniture it's it's a scam.
[1:16:04] Speaker 1: You're outdoor rugs. They're gonna look like ship in six months,
[1:16:07] Speaker 1: wait for one season to pass by, to look bad.
[1:16:10] Speaker 2: And that's one minute. That's true. I have to sign this.
[1:16:12] Speaker 3: I'm co signing it.
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: To and you're you want a damn farm nicole and.
[1:16:16] Speaker 3: I'm like, you get the beautiful, warm, stained wood and
[1:16:20] Speaker 3: they're like, no, the silver, ratty thing is actually what
[1:16:24] Speaker 3: it's meant to look like. And you're like, no, no,
[1:16:26] Speaker 3: I wanted it to stay looking like it was in
[1:16:29] Speaker 3: the store. That's what you said it would do. It's
[1:16:33] Speaker 3: just like any furniture you put outside and then it
[1:16:35] Speaker 3: gets old and ratty. It's faster, fast, faster, actually furniture.
[1:16:41] Speaker 3: You're right, So just drag the indoor furniture outside when
[1:16:44] Speaker 3: you need it.
[1:16:45] Speaker 1: You might as well. You might as well.
[1:16:49] Speaker 2: It gets incredibly dirty, incredibly quickly, especially in La where
[1:16:52] Speaker 2: at least where my place is like just and I agree.
[1:16:56] Speaker 1: I anyway, I'm just saying.
[1:16:59] Speaker 3: I don't think so, honey, thank.
[1:17:02] Speaker 2: You that part. And you know, I hate thinking about
[1:17:05] Speaker 2: you doing parkour around the building Spider Man or something.
[1:17:08] Speaker 1: I'm running around going, hey, pal my, my little topiari
[1:17:13] Speaker 1: fell into your whatever, you know what I mean?
[1:17:15] Speaker 3: Like yeah, And then you've got the outdoor cushions piled
[1:17:19] Speaker 3: up indoors, taking up space, not looking good. Where do
[1:17:24] Speaker 3: we put these? Just shove them in the corner, and
[1:17:27] Speaker 3: you're like, just just get rid of them. They're ugly.
[1:17:32] Speaker 1: I have to have a storage bin for these tarps
[1:17:35] Speaker 1: to cover. I don't like grill.
[1:17:37] Speaker 2: I don't think so, honey, tarps. Can I say, nothing
[1:17:41] Speaker 2: good happens around the tarp?
[1:17:42] Speaker 1: No, no, no.
[1:17:44] Speaker 2: Lay down on the tarp.
[1:17:45] Speaker 1: That was another thing in Antarctica that we had. You
[1:17:46] Speaker 1: couldn't put anything to you to put it down on
[1:17:48] Speaker 1: the tarp, to put your life jacket onto.
[1:17:50] Speaker 3: The tarp, to protect it all, to protect it all, some.
[1:17:54] Speaker 2: More of the Antarctica energy around the world. I think so,
[1:17:58] Speaker 2: because I will say, we went to Tokyo then came
[1:18:00] Speaker 2: back to America. Couldn't believe how filthy we are by comparison.
[1:18:05] Speaker 2: Like you walk around New York and you compare it
[1:18:06] Speaker 2: to Tokyo. It's like absolutely obsurd, like you don't even
[1:18:11] Speaker 2: see it because you're so used to it.
[1:18:13] Speaker 1: I know.
[1:18:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like that.
[1:18:14] Speaker 3: And it's all about the contrast, isn't it. And then yeah,
[1:18:18] Speaker 3: to open your eyes.
[1:18:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why it's important to travel.
[1:18:22] Speaker 1: I agree.
[1:18:23] Speaker 2: I agree.
[1:18:23] Speaker 1: Now it's time.
[1:18:26] Speaker 2: It's gonna be good.
[1:18:27] Speaker 1: I think I think you've got it. You've got the idea.
[1:18:29] Speaker 3: I just got the idea.
[1:18:30] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're gonna absolutely crush it.
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: Though this is Nicole Kidman's I don't think so, honey,
[1:18:36] Speaker 1: and her time starts now, I.
[1:18:39] Speaker 3: Don't think so honey. If you have bad breath, I
[1:18:42] Speaker 3: cannot stand bad breath. I mean this is a deal
[1:18:47] Speaker 3: breaker for me. Like you could be the most gorgeous,
[1:18:51] Speaker 3: gorgeous guy and you come at me with bad breath
[1:18:54] Speaker 3: and I'm like, no, no, no, it's off right. It's
[1:18:58] Speaker 3: like if I say wreathe on me and I have
[1:19:01] Speaker 3: to recoil. Yikes, I'm out. I am out. You could
[1:19:07] Speaker 3: not offer me enough money. And so therefore, when Alexander
[1:19:11] Speaker 3: scarsguard ate a Faluffel sandwich before we did the scenes
[1:19:16] Speaker 3: in big little eyes, I'm like, no, no, no, alex
[1:19:20] Speaker 3: I'm meant to be kissing you and into you. Put
[1:19:23] Speaker 3: away the faluffel now right, because the bad breath does
[1:19:29] Speaker 3: not turn me on. As I said, it is very
[1:19:34] Speaker 3: important to smell good, but more importantly the mouth, the
[1:19:39] Speaker 3: taste of the mouth and the smell of the mouth
[1:19:41] Speaker 3: is very important to me.
[1:19:43] Speaker 1: And that's one minute.
[1:19:45] Speaker 2: I have to say, Alexander Scarsguard has been having such
[1:19:49] Speaker 2: a moment with Pillion and you just knocked him out.
[1:19:53] Speaker 3: I'm sure he did not eat a faluffel ever.
[1:19:56] Speaker 1: Again, Yeah, you looked him in the eyes and I said.
[1:19:59] Speaker 3: No more for lufful, no more that. Nope, not before
[1:20:02] Speaker 3: you kiss, not before you make love, No more fluffoul away.
[1:20:09] Speaker 2: It's a rule of culture number fifty.
[1:20:12] Speaker 1: Before you make love. And I just have to say,
[1:20:16] Speaker 1: for an actor of your caliber to say that falafful
[1:20:22] Speaker 1: could destroy the reality of the scene, could just render,
[1:20:28] Speaker 1: could render the scene work completely meaningless, purely on breath.
[1:20:34] Speaker 1: You really are an old breath.
[1:20:36] Speaker 2: You are factory.
[1:20:37] Speaker 3: So the smell yeah, yeah, your sense totallyah smell memory,
[1:20:46] Speaker 3: which is why when I lost it, I was relieved.
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: After basement, you said, unburdened me.
[1:20:53] Speaker 3: I was like, few, oh, this is straight.
[1:20:57] Speaker 1: This is after the girl.
[1:21:00] Speaker 3: To the smell.
[1:21:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, I was in it.
[1:21:03] Speaker 3: I was in a good way because it was a mutet.
[1:21:07] Speaker 3: It was finally article.
[1:21:11] Speaker 1: I was free, so that when it came back, I
[1:21:17] Speaker 1: am obsessed.
[1:21:18] Speaker 2: I can't now now knowing.
[1:21:20] Speaker 3: And you want to know who smells the best ever?
[1:21:24] Speaker 1: Oh of course I've heard that.
[1:21:27] Speaker 3: Actually it's true.
[1:21:29] Speaker 1: Do you think it's.
[1:21:30] Speaker 2: That like she just has a scent that like like
[1:21:34] Speaker 2: like a fragrance that she isn't It's something.
[1:21:36] Speaker 3: We don't need to We don't need to unwrap, we
[1:21:38] Speaker 3: don't need to just know it's all true.
[1:21:42] Speaker 1: What does it smell like?
[1:21:44] Speaker 3: I've intoxicating. It is like I will follow you around
[1:21:49] Speaker 3: and it is like you smell Oh my god.
[1:21:53] Speaker 1: I will follow you around. So you're saying, yeah.
[1:21:59] Speaker 2: The most respectful way.
[1:22:03] Speaker 3: No, truly, she smells divine. But are you also really
[1:22:06] Speaker 3: smell divine?
[1:22:07] Speaker 2: I have my characters on today We Love Looney to Love. Yeah,
[1:22:15] Speaker 2: there is no don't you little quack? There's tweet? Oh
[1:22:23] Speaker 2: my good, honestly I want.
