# HMRC to begin signing up taxpayers for MTD income tax

From September 2026, HMRC will sign up taxpayers within scope of MTD income tax from April 2026 that have not done so themselves. Taxpayers – and agents on their behalf – are encouraged to take action before HMRC does.
