[0:12] Acts chapter 15 verse 1 to 20.
[0:42] And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phineas and Samaria, declaring the conversions of the Gentiles, and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
[0:58] And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
[1:10] But there rose up, certain of the sects of the Pharisees, which believed, saying that it was needful to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
[1:23] And the apostles and the elders came together to consider of this matter.
[1:27] And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up and said unto them, Men and brethren, Ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us that the Gentiles, by my mouth, should hear the word of the gospel and believe.
[1:45] And God, which knoweth, bear them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us, and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
[1:57] Now therefore, why tempt ye God to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
[2:07] But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved as they.
[2:15] Then all the multitude kept silent and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wroth among the Gentiles by them.
[2:25] And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, harking unto me, Simon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles to take out of them a people for his name.
[2:41] And to this agreed the words of the prophet, as is written, After this I will return and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is falling down, and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up.
[2:55] That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
[3:06] Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
[3:12] Wherefore, my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are, tend to God.
[3:21] But that we write unto them, that they abstain from politions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
[3:33] He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the church.
[3:37] Let's pray.
[3:37] Father, thank you for bringing us together to hear your word one more time.
[3:42] We pray as we hear your word.
[3:43] Give us exposure into yourself and into grace.
[3:48] That grace will be the predominant factor and the manifestation of your kindness in our lives.
[3:54] Thank you for all to see that we are objects, and we are products of your grace through your word.
[4:01] Thank you that as your word is taught, sicknesses are being healed.

[4:30] So, we saw in our previous session how God sent his word to the Gentiles.
[4:41] And for the first time in the history of the church, we saw a Gentilic church, or a church that is only Gentiles, in Acts chapter 14.
[4:53] Then we come to Acts chapter 15.
[4:57] Then the first verse, we see a problem surfacing.
[5:02] And certain men came down from Judea.
[5:08] Where did he come from?
[5:10] Where did he come from?
[5:11] Now, Judea, that's practically Jerusalem.
[5:15] Jerusalem is in Judea.
[5:17] So, certain guys, they took the trouble.
[5:19] From Judea to Antioch.
[5:24] It's a very long journey.
[5:26] And certain men came down from Judea and taught their brethren.
[5:32] Let's all say their brethren.
[5:33] Their brethren.
[5:34] When you read, I believe the New King James or the New American Standard will use the brothers.
[5:39] So, they came and they were teaching.
[5:43] You know, church life has a lot to do with teaching.
[5:47] So, they were teaching their brothers.
[5:51] They were, it's not like they said something and left.
[5:53] They were teaching the thing.
[5:55] They were busy trying to explain and prove to their brothers.
[6:00] Say their brothers.
[6:01] That tells you how Christianity is just family.
[6:05] Brothers.
[6:06] They were teaching their brothers.
[6:07] Brothers.
[6:07] In the, I think the verse 3 or so, he also mentions the brothers.
[6:12] In the verse 22, 23, the mention of the brothers is made again.
[6:18] The brothers.
[6:18] And the apostles and the elders with the whole church decided to choose of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas.
[6:27] They chose Judas called Basaba, sorry, and Silas.
[6:30] Two men who were leaders among the, this is brotherhood.
[6:36] Church is brotherhood.
[6:37] So, enough of that squabble and I don't like this person.
[6:40] I have a problem.
[6:41] Enough of it.

[6:44] We are brothers.
[6:45] Those of us who come from certain type of families where mom, you know, mothers are always interested in, let's be one.
[6:55] Usually families will have some feudal tensions and one or two things.
[7:00] Depending on what kind of, different families are, different, some families, they are very connected.
[7:04] You touch one, they will team up and fight you.
[7:07] There are some families too, they will come and call you to fight your brother.
[7:11] They will come and call you to fight their brother.
[7:16] So, you know, good families stick together.
[7:19] They might have disagreements and issues or personal grievances.
[7:24] But you know, when all is said and done, let's put that aside.
[7:27] We are family.
[7:28] You hear a good mother, a good father say, listen, we are family.
[7:32] So, it's okay.
[7:33] Your brother didn't do well.
[7:35] But it's okay.
[7:35] We are family.
[7:36] So, church is a family.
[7:38] That's why I call them brothers.
[7:39] People came from Judea to come.
[7:43] They were teaching their brothers.
[7:45] In John chapter 21 verse 23, Bible talks about the brothers, the brothers.
[7:51] John chapter 21 verse 23 says that then because of this, the rumor spread amongst their brothers.
[7:59] That's this disciple.
[8:00] Jesus says somebody will know that will live.
[8:02] He said the whole thing has been brotherhood from the time of Jesus.
[8:06] As soon as Jesus resurrected from the dead, he said, go and tell my brothers.
[8:10] Go and tell my brothers.
[8:13] John chapter, I think, 20 verse 17 or so.
[8:15] Go and tell my brothers.
[8:17] That's the first time Jesus called human beings his brothers.
[8:21] He just said, I have not yet returned to my father.
[8:24] But go instead to my brothers and tell them.
[8:28] Why was he calling them brothers?
[8:30] He says, because now after the resurrection, we are also in.
[8:34] In John chapter 14 verse 1, he says, let not your heart be troubled.
[8:37] Believe in God and believe also in me.
[8:39] For in my father's house there are many mansions.
[8:42] If he were not so, I would have told you.
[8:44] He said, for I go to prepare a place.
[8:46] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself.
[8:52] That where I am, you may be also.
[8:55] He said, I'm going to prepare.
[8:56] So he went into death to conquer the prevailing division between God and man, the enmity.
[9:03] This morning, as I was reading 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 19.
[9:08] He said, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself.
[9:12] Oh, that was so nice, isn't it?
[9:14] He said, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself.
[9:17] So on the cross, God was removing the enmity that separated God and us.
[9:24] By putting his wrath against sin on Christ.
[9:28] So that when you come into Christ, now, he said, now therefore, Romans chapter 5 verse 1.
[9:33] We have now peace with God.
[9:35] Having been justified.
[9:36] Wow.
[9:37] Therefore, having been justified, we have peace with.
[9:40] Previously, we did not.
[9:42] But we have peace.
[9:43] So that's the point I'm making.
[9:45] We have peace with God.
[9:46] Because Christ, when he went into death, he removed the barrier.
[9:52] And then now he brought us to himself.
[9:54] Do you understand what I'm saying?
[9:55] So I'm not talking about just heaven.
[9:57] When he says that, I'm going to a place, I'm preparing a place.
[10:00] He was going into grace to deal with that enmity between God and man.
[10:05] To reconcile us to God.
[10:07] And now we are all together in Christ.
[10:10] That's when we became his brothers.
[10:11] So in Romans chapter 8 verse 20, now he says that for those who for new predestined and those who preestined,
[10:18] to be conformed into the image of his son, that Christ will be the firstborn amongst many brethren.
[10:24] So Christ is the firstborn for the after grave.
[10:27] After the grave, now he's our senior brother.
[10:31] And so if Christ is our senior brother, look, if A is my brother and B is my brother,
[10:38] then A and B are brothers.
[10:41] If Christ is my brother and Christ is your brother, then you are my brother as well then.
[10:49] Because then we are all family.
[10:51] We are a fam.
[10:52] Oh, we are fam.
[10:53] Sorry.
[10:57] I'm trying to use their lingo, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
[11:01] So he says that they came and polluted the hearts of the brothers.
[11:06] They were teaching the brothers.
[11:08] Back to Acts chapter 15.
[11:10] They taught them.
[11:10] They were teaching the brethren, the brothers, that look at the teaching.
[11:14] Unless you are circumcised according to custom.
[11:18] There is a certain custom that we Jews are familiar with.
[11:21] That's what gave us our relationship with God.
[11:24] Now, he said you have to be circumcised.
[11:26] The problem was circumcision.
[11:28] Because every Jew must maintain the covenant relationship with God by being circumcised.
[11:34] Male.
[11:35] Okay.
[11:36] When the men are okay, the women are fine.
[11:38] That's the system of God.
[11:39] If the men are strong, the women will be strong.
[11:42] You can have strong women, but if you have weak men in the community, the community will
[11:47] be weak.
[11:48] A Christian church that has strong men will be strong.
[11:54] I'm trying to say women cannot be strong.
[11:55] No, I didn't say that.
[11:57] You chose to hear that.
[11:58] I didn't say that.
[12:00] I didn't say, please.
[12:02] I didn't say that.
[12:03] Please, don't do that to me.

[12:08] So, he says, the brethren came and they taught them because circumcision was a necessary part
[12:16] of being Jewish.
[12:18] And being Jewish was access, having a relationship with the one true God.
[12:23] So, to have a relationship with the one true God, he has given himself through the Jews
[12:28] in the past and gave them now.
[12:30] He called Abraham and Genesis chapter 17, gave him the covenant of circumcision.
[12:37] That on the eighth day, every male that is born in your life must be circumcised so to
[12:44] integrate them into a covenant standing with me.
[12:47] So, the Jewish people are the covenant people.
[12:51] And to maintain the covenant, you have to go through circumcision.
[12:55] And so, that's what it said.
[12:57] And then, it was now enshrined into law.
[13:00] So, the law Moses gave, part of it, it was enshrined into it that, speak to all the congregation
[13:08] of Israel saying, on the tenth of this month, every man shall take himself a lamb.
[13:15] Leviticus.
[13:16] It's Leviticus.
[13:17] On the eighth day, the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
[13:23] So, God gave them a restriction, a law.
[13:27] So, it was now part of the Mosaic law.
[13:30] But watch this.
[13:31] The Jews, they practiced this for a long time so much that they lost the spirit in it.
[13:38] Because even when they were following idols, this became their national tradition.
[13:44] And so, when they were missing God, they would still make sure circumcision is there.
[13:49] It became part of their Jewish identity.
[13:53] So, over a period of time, they lost their spirit behind it.
[13:57] And they were just following the letter of it.
[14:00] And because they were following the letter of it, when God was even changing it and amend it,
[14:04] they didn't see it.
[14:05] And so, now, for the Jew, if a Gentile is going to have, watch this,
[14:11] if a Gentile is going to have a relationship with a Jew in worship,
[14:15] the Gentile of a necessity must be circumcised in worship.
[14:21] And that was their custom.
[14:23] Now, these Jews have found out that there are people, the Gentile church,
[14:29] now, a church that is entirely Gentile,
[14:32] they said, you know, all the other churches prior to that,
[14:35] it started with Jews, and then some Gentiles came in.
[14:38] But now, in Antioch, we have entirely Gentile church.
[14:43] And so, some brethren, when they heard that Gentiles are now also in worship,
[14:48] they had to go and protect the Jewish tradition within the worship.
[14:53] So, they traveled from Judea all the way to, it's a long journey.
[14:59] In those days, nowadays, there are a lot of easy mode of translation.
[15:02] Those times, it takes a lot of days.
[15:04] They traveled, and they got there, and they started teaching.
[15:09] They started teaching the people that unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses,
[15:19] what's that?
[15:22] What's that?
[15:23] In 1 Corinthians 7, verse 18, Paul makes mention of circumcision and tries to deal with the issue of circumcision.
[15:31] He said,
[15:31] He said,
[15:43] He said,
[15:45] He said,
[15:47] Because circumcision is not part of the requirement.
[15:52] Galatians 5, verse 2.
[15:55] Paul said again,
[15:58] Indeed, I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised,
[16:04] See, watch this.
[16:05] Watch this.
[16:05] Because when you are Christian,
[16:08] And now you are beginning to,
[16:10] Christ plus certain traditions,
[16:13] You are now annulling Christ.
[16:16] That's why I said earlier on that the gospel,
[16:19] If you add something to the gospel,
[16:21] When you dilute the gospel,
[16:22] You have actually lost the gospel.
[16:24] When you add anything to Christ,
[16:28] For it to become the foundation of salvation,
[16:31] You have actually lost the Christ.
[16:33] Because Christ is only,
[16:36] He stands alone.
[16:38] As soon as you add anything,
[16:40] You lose the Christ.
[16:42] Do you understand what I'm saying?
[16:43] So they went and told the people that,
[16:46] Christ,
[16:47] Hey,
[16:48] Christ is not enough.
[16:50] Years ago,
[16:51] I was told,
[16:52] And they was teaching,
[16:53] That's still going on.
[16:54] Maybe it's true.
[16:54] Maybe it's not.
[16:55] You walk there and be saying that,
[16:57] I'm in Christ.
[16:57] I'm in Christ.
[16:58] So I'm delivered.
[16:59] Demons cannot touch me.
[17:00] I'm in Christ.
[17:01] No, you have to go for deliverance.
[17:04] When we got born again,
[17:05] We were told,
[17:07] That you have to go for them to conduct deliverance.
[17:10] Don't be walking around because,
[17:12] Maybe your father was,
[17:13] Your uncle or your granddad was a fetish priest.
[17:15] Now you are born again.
[17:17] Fetishism is coming after you.
[17:18] The blood of Christ is not enough.
[17:20] Just like that.
[17:21] Saying that I'm born again.
[17:22] You have to go,
[17:23] For a specialist to lay hands on you.
[17:25] And be commanded,

[17:27] So there are people who are walking around,

[17:48] Can happen for somebody.

[17:57] Work with God,
[17:58] And that's where,
[17:59] Your freedom comes from.

[18:51] Don't say you need,
[18:52] Deliverance first.

[18:56] And stop the other things,

[18:58] Don't be doing.

[20:19] Somebody say,
[20:19] False brethren.

[20:23] They look like brethren,
[20:24] But they are actually coming to spoil,
[20:26] What Christ is doing.
[20:28] False brethren.
[20:30] Paul calls them false brethren,
[20:31] In 2 Corinthians,
[20:32] Chapter 11,
[20:33] Verse 26.
[20:34] When he was talking about,
[20:35] Some of the things he suffered in life.
[20:37] The last one,
[20:38] He says that,
[20:39] In peril amongst,
[20:40] False brothers.
[20:42] They are supposed to,
[20:43] They are called brothers,
[20:45] But when you look at their,
[20:46] Activities and their actions,
[20:48] They are actually enemies,
[20:50] Of the cross.
[20:52] So,
[20:52] Paul said,
[20:53] I believe that,
[20:54] Some of these people,
[20:55] Who came in,
[20:56] To come and confuse their brethren,
[20:58] Paul saw them,
[20:59] As false brethren.
[20:59] You are spoiling,
[21:01] The work of Christ.
[21:01] You are weakening the church.
[21:03] You are,
[21:04] You see,
[21:05] The point here is this,
[21:07] Anytime,
[21:08] You try to,
[21:09] Add,
[21:10] Other things,
[21:11] To Christ,
[21:13] You have,
[21:13] Annulled,
[21:15] The word here,
[21:15] Annulled,
[21:16] The efficacy,
[21:17] Of the cross.
[21:19] You have neutralized,
[21:20] The effectiveness,

[21:23] Efficiency,

[22:03] We have our norms.

[22:06] You can be wearing,
[22:08] A very short skirt,
[22:09] And God saved.
[22:11] After you are saved,
[22:12] If you don't change the skirts,
[22:14] We will have a problem with you,
[22:15] Because we think,
[22:16] The salvation is not valid.
[22:20] God didn't have a problem,
[22:21] In saving you in the skirts.
[22:23] We have a problem,
[22:25] In calling you a brethren,
[22:26] In the skirts.
[22:26] You had long,
[22:30] Funny hair,
[22:31] And you came to the altar,
[22:33] You gave your life to Jesus.
[22:34] Now we say,
[22:35] To you to maintain,
[22:36] Your salvation,
[22:37] You have to shave that hair.

[22:40] We can all fall,
[22:42] Be guilty,
[22:43] Of that kind of,
[22:44] Systems that we feel,
[22:45] Is acceptable to us.

[22:49] For you to remain a Christian,

[22:56] That is an acceptable norm,

[23:09] If you are not circumcised,
[23:10] It doesn't matter,

[23:12] We need to get,
[23:13] Get it fast.
[23:14] Then,
[23:15] In Colossians chapter 2,
[23:16] Verse 11,
[23:17] Paul said that,
[23:19] Says that,
[23:20] In him,
[23:21] Look at Paul,
[23:21] Where he placed circumcision,
[23:23] In Christ,
[23:24] You were also circumcised,
[23:26] With circumcision made with our hands.
[23:28] So if the circumcision,
[23:29] Is what they are talking about,
[23:30] Don't worry,
[23:30] You also be already,
[23:31] Be circumcised.
[23:33] The cross,
[23:34] Is circumcision,
[23:35] For those who are in Christ.
[23:36] He said,
[23:38] You always be circumcised,
[23:39] By putting off,
[23:40] The body of sins,
[23:42] Of the flesh,
[23:43] By the circumcision of Christ.
[23:45] We have already been circumcised,
[23:47] If you are in Christ.
[23:48] So don't worry,
[23:49] The circumcision God spoke about,
