[0:00] Hallelujah! We thank God you've tuned into this message by David Entry at Caris Church.
[0:06] No hand can help you with the fulfillment of your destiny but the Word of God.
[0:11] May God's hand align you further into your destiny through this word.
[0:16] Hebrews 13 verse 4, Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled.
[0:23] But all mongers and adulterers God will judge.
[0:28] Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things as ye have.
[0:36] For he has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee, so that we may boldly say that the Lord is my helper
[0:48] and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
[0:54] Now, today's reading.
[0:58] Remember them which have the rule over you,
[1:02] who have spoken unto you the Word of God,
[1:06] whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation.
[1:12] Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever.
[1:19] Verse 9, Be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines.
[1:24] For it is, it's a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with meat,
[1:32] which have not profited that have been occupied during year and during the young God's Word.
[1:41] Amen.
[1:42] The text speaks about we have to be mindful and respect marriage and be mindful about adultery.
[1:52] And then it says that we should not let our lives be with covetousness.
[1:57] So our lives should be without covetousness.
[1:59] Don't target what others have.
[2:01] Thinking that no, I deserve it more or I must also have it.
[2:06] Somebody's wedding shouldn't determine how your wedding should be.
[2:12] So, it said covetousness.
[2:16] Why?
[2:17] God has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
[2:22] So that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper.
[2:28] Somebody say, the Lord is my helper.
[2:31] The Lord is my helper.
[2:32] I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
[2:35] Amen.
[2:36] So, you see, it sets the platform that God, because God helps me, no problem.
[2:42] I won't let covetousness and what I don't have be so much a worry and a border because God will care, provide for me.
[2:52] All right.
[2:53] So, he can tell there might be a prevailing situation and he's trying to lift us from that situation to trust in the providence of God.
[3:02] So, whatever the situation, whatever situation we might find ourselves in, we should look up and we should look forward.
[3:09] Look up to him and forward because conditions will not always be as it is.
[3:14] So, he said, then he goes on to interject with something very interesting.
[3:19] He says that, remember, say remember, verse 7.
[3:22] Remember those, them which have the rule over you.
[3:27] Talking about church leadership, people, not just church leaders, spiritual leaders.
[3:32] They have rule over you.
[3:33] He said, remember them.
[3:34] In what way?
[3:35] He says that, remember them who have spoken unto you the word of God, whose faith you should follow considering the end of their conversation.
[3:42] So, it talks about how there are people, you cannot be a Christian without having someone speaking the word of God to you.
[3:51] So, wherever you are in your spiritual journey, if it's a healthy thing, it's as a matter or as a result of somebody who introduced the word of God to you or spoke the word of God to you.
[4:03] No one can ever know God unilaterally.
[4:06] And no one can ever discover God for himself entirely, comprehensively and conclusively just by reading the scripture.
[4:14] The scriptures tell us a lot about God revealed to us about, revealed God to us, help us to understand God.
[4:21] But understand that word that read it.
[4:23] They didn't continue just in the scripture.
[4:27] They continued in the apostles' doctrine.
[4:30] That means that whatever we continue, it must be coming from some people.
[4:34] The words that I commit to you, St. Timothy, 2 Timothy 1, verse 2, that the same thing you have heard from me, the same commit to faithful men who teach others.
[4:46] And so, we pass on the message.
[4:48] So, you cannot be an effective Christian outside of effective teaching.
[4:55] Then the verse 8 is a very interesting text.
[5:01] That's already a lot.
[5:02] Let's go.
[5:03] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever
[5:07] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever
[5:13] Can I have the ladies to read it please. Ladies, let's go please.
[5:15] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever
[5:19] Can I have the gentleman read it. Let's go
[5:22] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever
[5:25] All of us, let's go for the last time.
[5:27] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever
[5:32] to the verse 9.
[5:33] The verse 9 says that
[5:35] don't be carried away with
[5:37] diverse and strange doctrines.
[5:39] Don't be carried away with strange doctrines.
[5:42] You know, sometimes
[5:43] teachers,
[5:45] preachers
[5:46] might be inconsistent
[5:48] over a period of time because
[5:51] sometimes if I stop feeding
[5:53] and I stop
[5:55] receiving nourishment and teaching
[5:57] and studying
[5:58] and just all what I've learned is
[6:01] what I'm running with is what I've learned
[6:03] in the past and I keep teaching
[6:05] I may start
[6:07] churning out some things.
[6:09] So I will become inconsistent
[6:11] to the message.
[6:14] So their faith
[6:15] follow. There is a message that is responsible
[6:17] for a state
[6:19] you are in Christianity.
[6:22] That message,
[6:23] the messengers might be inconsistent
[6:25] but the message about
[6:27] Christ is the same.
[6:29] So when you look at the verse 8,
[6:30] it seems to stand
[6:32] tall between
[6:34] verse 7
[6:36] and verse 9.
[6:38] It looks like it's a foundation.
[6:40] So that it all
[6:41] that verse 7
[6:42] becomes a foundation
[6:44] for verse 8
[6:45] and then verse 8
[6:46] becomes
[6:47] a guide
[6:49] against verse 9.
[6:52] So it's either
[6:52] verse 8
[6:53] is holding
[6:54] verse 7
[6:55] and verse 9
[6:57] to be able
[6:58] to
[6:58] clearly
[6:59] bring
[7:00] safeguarding
[7:01] or
[7:02] verse 7
[7:03] is the platform
[7:04] for verse 8
[7:05] and verse 8
[7:06] is the protection
[7:07] for verse 9.
[7:08] But the key point
[7:10] of that scripture,
[7:11] verse 8
[7:11] doesn't need
[7:12] explanation.
[7:14] Verse 8
[7:14] is such
[7:15] a text
[7:16] that you can
[7:16] take it
[7:17] and you don't need
[7:18] anyone to interpret it.
[7:20] It's self-explanatory.
[7:22] You don't need
[7:23] exegesis
[7:23] to understand
[7:25] verse 8.
[7:26] Verse 8
[7:27] speaks for himself.
[7:28] Verse 8
[7:29] doesn't need
[7:30] a mediator.
[7:31] Verse 8
[7:31] doesn't need
[7:32] a helper.
[7:33] Verse 8
[7:33] doesn't need
[7:34] an interpreter.
[7:35] Verse 8
[7:36] just interprets
[7:37] itself.
[7:38] Jesus Christ
[7:38] the same
[7:40] yesterday,
[7:41] today,
[7:41] and forever.
[7:42] This text
[7:43] Jesus Christ
[7:44] the same
[7:45] yesterday,
[7:45] today,
[7:45] and forever
[7:46] can be left
[7:47] by himself
[7:47] and there are
[7:48] no ambiguity
[7:49] about it.
[7:49] Now,
[7:52] that very text
[7:53] verse 8
[7:54] seems to be
[7:55] the highest
[7:56] point of the
[7:57] book of Hebrews.
[7:59] The highest
[8:00] point.
[8:00] That verse 8.
[8:02] Jesus.
[8:03] Let's all read
[8:03] it a lot again.
[8:04] Let's go.
[8:04] Jesus Christ
[8:06] the same
[8:06] yesterday,
[8:07] and today,
[8:08] and forever.
[8:08] The original
[8:09] Greek
[8:10] sounds something
[8:13] like this.
[8:14] Jesus Christ
[8:15] the same.
[8:16] So,
[8:18] it doesn't
[8:18] make grammatical
[8:19] sense,
[8:20] but it
[8:21] makes theological
[8:22] depths.
[8:24] Jesus Christ
[8:24] the same.
[8:27] Let's all say
[8:27] Jesus Christ
[8:28] the same.
[8:29] Jesus Christ
[8:30] the same.
[8:31] There is
[8:31] nobody like
[8:32] Jesus.
[8:35] Let's all say
[8:36] Jesus Christ
[8:36] the same.
[8:37] Jesus Christ
[8:38] the same.
[8:39] Sometimes,
[8:40] a church,
[8:40] the pastor
[8:41] can change.
[8:41] Oh,
[8:46] somebody is
[8:47] almost,
[8:47] it looks like
[8:48] somebody is
[8:48] getting where
[8:49] I'm coming
[8:49] from.
[8:50] You can
[8:51] have a change
[8:52] of pastor,
[8:52] but not a
[8:54] change of
[8:54] savior.
[8:57] Why?
[8:59] Jesus Christ
[9:00] the same.
[9:02] Jesus Christ
[9:03] the same.
[9:06] That's why
[9:07] I said
[9:07] sometimes,
[9:09] the messengers
[9:10] can be
[9:10] inconsistent.
[9:15] Worriedly
[9:15] inconsistent,
[9:17] but the
[9:17] message is
[9:18] gloriously
[9:19] monotonous.
[9:22] The message
[9:23] is the
[9:24] same.
[9:25] So,
[9:26] he says,
[9:26] just in
[9:27] case,
[9:28] you are
[9:28] following
[9:29] teachings that
[9:29] have brought
[9:30] you closer
[9:31] to Christ
[9:31] to appreciate
[9:32] the pure
[9:33] gospel,
[9:34] stick with
[9:35] Christ.
[9:37] Stick with
[9:38] Christ,
[9:39] because he's
[9:39] the only one
[9:40] who is the
[9:41] unchanging
[9:43] changer.
[9:45] He is the
[9:45] constant.
[9:48] The constant
[9:48] of proportionality.
[9:50] This just
[9:51] doesn't change.
[9:52] Now,
[9:52] watch this.
[9:53] So,
[9:54] when we say,
[9:56] looking at the
[9:56] text,
[9:58] let's look at the
[9:58] text again.
[9:59] Let's go.
[9:59] read it out.
[9:59] Let's go.
[10:00] Jesus Christ
[10:01] is the
[10:01] Savior,
[10:02] Savior,
[10:03] Savior,
[10:03] Savior,
[10:03] Savior,
[10:04] and forever.
[10:05] Let me talk
[10:06] about Jesus
[10:07] Christ.
[10:07] In the book
[10:08] of Hebrews,
[10:09] there are only
[10:09] three instances
[10:11] where the
[10:12] term Jesus
[10:13] Christ was
[10:14] used.
[10:14] Sometimes it's
[10:15] Jesus,
[10:15] sometimes it's
[10:16] Christ,
[10:16] but only three
[10:17] places.
[10:18] This is one of
[10:18] the places
[10:19] where it's
[10:19] used,
[10:20] and this
[10:20] place is
[10:21] pointing to
[10:22] Jesus Christ
[10:23] who sustains
[10:24] us.
[10:25] The other
[10:26] place is in
[10:27] Hebrews 10,
[10:28] verse 10,
[10:29] Jesus Christ
[10:30] who saves us.
[10:31] And the other
[10:32] place is Hebrews
[10:32] chapter 13,
[10:33] verse 21,
[10:35] Jesus Christ
[10:35] who strengthens
[10:36] us.
[10:37] He sustains,
[10:38] He saves,
[10:39] He strengthens
[10:39] us.
[10:40] Now,
[10:40] coming back
[10:40] to that
[10:41] term,
[10:43] Jesus Christ,
[10:44] anytime you see
[10:44] the word
[10:46] Jesus Christ,
[10:46] I've taught you
[10:47] already that
[10:47] Christ is not
[10:48] His surname.
[10:50] Okay.
[10:51] Christ is not
[10:52] His surname.
[10:53] Christ is
[10:54] His
[10:54] office.
[10:57] It's His
[10:57] office.
[10:59] So the Bible
[10:59] says that
[11:00] Jesus Christ,
[11:01] who are we
[11:01] talking about?
[11:01] Jesus Christ.
[11:02] What about
[11:02] Jesus?
[11:03] Jesus is His
[11:04] human name.
[11:04] He wasn't
[11:05] the only one
[11:05] called Jesus.
[11:07] The Hebrew,
[11:08] original Hebrew
[11:09] is Yeshua,
[11:10] which is also
[11:10] translated as
[11:12] Joshua.
[11:13] Joshua.
[11:14] So Jesus
[11:15] Christ,
[11:15] Joshua.
[11:16] There are a
[11:16] lot of people
[11:16] called Jesus
[11:17] in the days
[11:18] of Jesus
[11:19] Christ.
[11:20] There are a
[11:20] lot of people
[11:21] called Jesus
[11:21] because Jesus
[11:23] is a normal
[11:23] Jewish name.
[11:24] And it's
[11:25] actually when
[11:25] you call
[11:26] your child
[11:26] Jesus,
[11:27] which means
[11:27] Jehovah
[11:28] saves.
[11:29] So when a
[11:30] Hebrew parent,
[11:32] a Jewish
[11:32] parent calls
[11:33] their child
[11:33] Jesus,
[11:34] what they are
[11:35] saying is that
[11:36] there is a
[11:37] statement of
[11:37] faith knowing
[11:38] that there's
[11:39] salvation in
[11:40] Jehovah.
[11:42] So every time
[11:43] they call a
[11:43] child Jesus,
[11:45] they mean there
[11:46] is a statement
[11:46] of faith pointing
[11:48] to the fact that
[11:48] there is salvation
[11:49] in God,
[11:50] in Jehovah
[11:51] God.
[11:52] Then in
[11:52] Matthew chapter
[11:53] 1 verse
[11:54] 21,
[11:55] the angel
[11:56] said that
[11:58] his name,
[12:00] the angel
[12:00] says that
[12:01] he shall
[12:02] bring for
[12:02] and he shall
[12:03] call his
[12:03] name Jesus.
[12:04] That's just
[12:05] like everybody.
[12:06] But the
[12:06] difference between
[12:07] this Jesus
[12:07] and the
[12:08] other Jesus
[12:08] that this
[12:09] Jesus,
[12:10] he is the
[12:10] Jehovah
[12:11] who saves
[12:11] himself.
[12:12] The other
[12:13] Jesus is
[12:14] pointing to
[12:14] Jehovah
[12:14] who saves.
[12:15] This Jesus
[12:16] is pointing
[12:16] to Jehovah.
[12:17] This is
[12:18] the Jehovah
[12:18] that's our
[12:19] salvation.
[12:20] Jesus is
[12:21] Jehovah
[12:21] our salvation.
[12:22] So anytime
[12:23] you come
[12:23] across the
[12:24] name Jesus,
[12:24] you are
[12:25] talking about
[12:25] a human
[12:26] being,
[12:26] a historic
[12:27] figure.
[12:28] It's a
[12:29] historic
[12:29] figure.
[12:30] It's a
[12:31] human name.
[12:32] That name
[12:33] Jesus connotes
[12:35] the one who
[12:36] we all can
[12:37] identify with.
[12:39] The one who
[12:40] was like us.
[12:41] But he was
[12:43] like us in
[12:44] every way except
[12:45] the fact that
[12:45] he was without
[12:46] sin.
[12:48] And that's
[12:49] why he died
[12:50] and resurrected.
[12:51] You're talking
[12:52] about the
[12:52] Jesus,
[12:52] the normal
[12:53] Jesus who
[12:54] was born
[12:55] by a
[12:56] Virgin Mary.
[12:57] The normal
[12:58] Jesus who
[12:59] spoke.
[13:00] Just that
[13:01] there is
[13:02] something
[13:02] different about
[13:03] this Jesus.
[13:05] He, even
[13:05] though he was
[13:06] fully man,
[13:10] he had,
[13:11] he lived
[13:12] before he
[13:13] lived.
[13:15] In a way
[13:15] no one had
[13:16] lived.
[13:16] I feel like
[13:17] rich.
[13:18] He was
[13:21] born in a
[13:22] way no one
[13:22] has been
[13:23] born,
[13:23] ever been
[13:24] born.
[13:26] He spoke
[13:27] in ways no
[13:28] one ever
[13:28] spoke.
[13:30] He did
[13:31] things in
[13:32] ways that
[13:32] no one
[13:33] ever did.
[13:35] He died.
[13:37] Oh, I feel
[13:38] like rich.
[13:39] He died in a
[13:40] way that no
[13:41] one has ever
[13:41] died.
[13:42] He resurrected
[13:43] in a way that
[13:44] no one has
[13:45] ever.
[13:45] He ascended
[13:46] all the
[13:47] religious
[13:48] leaders.
[13:48] Check if
[13:49] any human
[13:49] being was
[13:50] able to
[13:50] do any
[13:51] of these
[13:51] things that
[13:51] he did.
[13:52] He ascended
[13:54] in a way that
[13:54] no one and
[13:55] is coming
[13:56] back.
[13:58] Hallelujah!
[14:01] He's coming
[14:02] back in a way
[14:03] that no one
[14:03] can ever come
[14:05] back.
[14:06] That's what we're
[14:06] talking about.
[14:07] Jesus, we are
[14:08] talking about a
[14:09] human figure, a
[14:10] historic figure we
[14:11] can all identify
[14:12] with.
[14:14] That's Jesus.
[14:15] Now, he's
[14:15] different.
[14:17] There's no one
[14:18] like Jesus
[14:18] because he's
[14:21] just Jesus
[14:22] Christ.
[14:24] Because of the
[14:26] majesty of his
[14:26] name.
[14:28] So he says,
[14:29] keep that text
[14:30] on that screen.
[14:32] So he said,
[14:33] Jesus Christ.
[14:34] Somebody say,
[14:34] Jesus Christ.
[14:36] The reason why
[14:37] we can count on
[14:38] him is because
[14:38] he is Jesus
[14:39] Christ.
[14:41] Number one,
[14:42] I told you that
[14:43] Jesus connotes
[14:44] the human name
[14:45] to make sure,
[14:47] to let us know
[14:48] he identifies
[14:49] with us.
[14:51] How about the
[14:51] Christ?
[14:52] Oh, the Christ
[14:53] connotes his
[14:54] office.
[14:55] In the olden
[14:56] days, when you
[14:57] read the Old
[14:57] Testament, there
[14:59] are three major
[14:59] important offices.
[15:02] The king, the
[15:03] priest, and the
[15:05] prophet.
[15:06] Every time a
[15:07] king is enthroned
[15:08] or is stood, he
[15:09] will always have a
[15:10] priest and a
[15:11] prophet.
[15:12] The priest who
[15:14] was supposed to
[15:15] make way, or the
[15:17] priest who was
[15:17] supposed to help
[15:18] him to have access
[15:20] to God, grant him
[15:21] access to God.
[15:22] And the prophet who
[15:23] was supposed to
[15:24] declare God to
[15:25] him, brings God
[15:26] to him.
[15:27] And the king
[15:28] himself who was
[15:29] supposed to carry
[15:31] out the purpose of
[15:32] God.
[15:33] You know what I
[15:33] So in the Old
[15:34] Testament times, the
[15:35] Jewish times, Hebrew
[15:37] times, the king
[15:38] The king's job is
[15:40] to, that's why
[15:41] when David was
[15:42] called in 13,
[15:45] Acts chapter 13,
[15:46] verse 22, the
[15:47] Bible said God
[15:49] himself deposed
[15:50] Saul.
[15:51] He removed Saul and
[15:53] he brought David
[15:54] because he said
[15:55] about David, I
[15:56] found someone who
[15:58] is there, which
[15:59] shall fulfill all
[16:01] my will.
[16:02] So the job of a
[16:03] king in those
[16:04] days was to advance
[16:06] God's agenda on
[16:08] earth.
[16:09] The job of the
[16:11] priest was to give
[16:13] God's people access
[16:14] to God.
[16:15] The job of the
[16:16] prophet was to
[16:18] declare unto them
[16:19] what God is saying
[16:21] or bring God to
[16:22] them.
[16:23] Now, there's no one
[16:24] in history who
[16:26] occupies these three
[16:27] offices.
[16:28] So a king will have
[16:30] a prophet.
[16:30] So David was a king
[16:32] and a prophet.
[16:33] But he was never a
[16:34] priest.
[16:35] He couldn't be a
[16:36] priest.
[16:38] Moses was a
[16:39] prophet.
[16:40] Moses was a
[16:41] prophet, but he
[16:42] wasn't a king.
[16:44] There were times he
[16:45] was almost bordering
[16:47] the line of a
[16:48] priest, but he
[16:49] wasn't even a
[16:49] priest.
[16:50] He was just a
[16:51] prophet.
[16:51] Aaron was a
[16:52] priest.
[16:53] There's no human
[16:54] being that can
[16:55] combine all the
[16:56] three.
[16:56] But when we talk
[16:57] about Christ, we
[16:58] are talking about
[16:59] the only person who
[17:00] was a king, who
[17:02] was the priest, who
[17:03] was the prophet?
[17:05] Jesus, the
[17:06] Christ.
[17:08] That's what it
[17:08] means when we say
[17:09] Jesus is the
[17:09] Christ.
[17:10] He is the
[17:11] Christ.
[17:12] The Hebrew word
[17:13] is in the Old
[17:15] Testament, the
[17:16] Hebrew Messiah.
[17:17] Okay.
[17:18] It's Messiah.
[17:19] It's the same.
[17:20] Christ.
[17:20] That means the
[17:21] only one who is
[17:23] anointed.
[17:23] Now, there's even
[17:24] something interesting
[17:25] about Jesus.
[17:26] When you hear
[17:27] names like Abraham,
[17:29] one of the things
[17:30] you remember about
[17:30] Abraham is, or
[17:32] many people, there
[17:33] are behaviors or
[17:37] certain individual
[17:38] specific graces that
[17:40] are accredited to
[17:41] them.
[17:41] So like Abraham, he's
[17:43] a man of faith.
[17:44] Like Moses, he's a
[17:46] man of meekness.
[17:48] Okay.
[17:48] Like Samson was a
[17:50] man of strength.
[17:52] Solomon, a man of
[17:54] wisdom.
[17:56] You know, David, a
[17:57] man of war who
[17:58] never lost battles.
[17:59] John, the apostle,
[18:02] man of love.
[18:04] So everyone, you
[18:05] can have one thing,
[18:07] one unique grace or
[18:09] two that was
[18:10] identified with them.
[18:12] But when you come
[18:12] to Jesus, every
[18:14] other grace, you
[18:17] want hope, it's in
[18:18] Jesus.
[18:19] You want strength, it's
[18:20] in Jesus.
[18:20] You want peace, it's
[18:21] in Jesus.
[18:22] You want love, it's
[18:23] in Jesus.
[18:24] You want encouragement,
[18:25] it's in Jesus.
[18:26] You want grace, it's
[18:27] in Jesus.
[18:28] Somebody shout, Jesus
[18:29] Christ.
[18:29] Jesus Christ.
[18:31] Yeah.
[18:33] You can count on him
[18:35] because of his
[18:36] majestic name.
[18:38] He is the Jesus
[18:39] Christ.
[18:40] He is the only
[18:41] all sufficient
[18:42] savior.
[18:44] Hallelujah.
[18:45] And the Bible
[18:46] says that Jesus
[18:47] Christ, the same.
[18:51] Oh, somebody
[18:53] shout the same.
[18:54] The same.
[18:55] Shout it again,
[18:55] the same.
[18:56] The same.
[18:56] The same.
[18:57] And so his
[18:57] majestic name and
[18:59] then his exclusive
[19:00] claims is the same.
[19:01] He hasn't changed.
[19:03] He, Jesus is, is the
[19:06] self, is the
[19:07] existent one.
[19:08] He existed before he
[19:08] was born.
[19:10] He existed.
[19:11] So when the, yeah,
[19:12] the Bible says that
[19:13] actually in the
[19:14] beginning was the
[19:14] word and the word
[19:16] was with God and the
[19:18] word was God.
[19:20] You know, times
[19:22] change.
[19:22] People change.
[19:23] Some of you know
[19:25] people who every
[19:26] time you are going
[19:27] to, anytime you
[19:28] meet them or you're
[19:29] going to talk to
[19:29] them, you are not
[19:30] sure whether they've
[19:32] changed.
[19:32] So you always, instead
[19:34] of asking how are you,
[19:35] you ask who are you.
[19:38] Sometimes you can live
[19:39] with, you can live
[19:40] with a person who
[19:42] has all kinds of
[19:43] mood swings.
[19:45] You don't know who
[19:46] you are dealing with.
[19:48] At what, so you have
[19:48] to wait to find out,
[19:49] okay, who are you
[19:50] today?
[19:50] I'm a happy person.
[19:51] Then you can flow in
[19:51] the happiness.
[19:52] Some of us have
[19:53] friends who you don't
[19:55] even know what they
[19:56] are going to say when
[19:57] you meet them.
[19:58] Because there's this
[19:59] oscillation, inconstance
[20:02] about human nature.
[20:06] That's why you can't
[20:07] put all your trust in
[20:08] one person.
[20:10] Because human beings
[20:11] change.
[20:13] You can't keep asking
[20:14] people every time you
[20:16] are, sometimes you may
[20:17] not ask them, but you
[20:17] are thinking, who are
[20:18] you?
[20:19] So who am I going to
[20:19] be dealing with now?
[20:20] So human beings,
[20:22] sometimes we are, we
[20:23] oscillate.
[20:24] But it means that he
[20:26] has immutability.
[20:30] Times are changing.
[20:32] The way the internet was
[20:34] working five years ago
[20:35] has changed.
[20:38] But there's one thing
[20:39] that doesn't change.
[20:40] because of that, you can
[20:48] always count on him.
[20:51] You can count on Jesus
[20:53] because, but thank God
[20:56] that Jesus is the same
[20:59] yesterday, today, and forever.
[21:02] You can count on him
[21:04] because of his majestic name.
[21:06] You can count on him
[21:08] because of his majestic name.
[21:10] You can count on him
[21:11] because of his claims.
[21:13] And he claims it that,
[21:14] he claims to not change.
[21:17] It's only God who doesn't
[21:18] change.
[21:19] Jesus has immutability.
[21:21] The way he was yesterday
[21:22] is that you can trust him.
[21:23] That's the way he is today.
[21:24] And that's the way he'll be
[21:26] tomorrow.
[21:26] So if he was able to
[21:28] sustain you, I think,
[21:29] Mark, not Martin Luther,
[21:30] Charles Pergin, who said,
[21:34] it is foolishness to think
[21:36] that God provides grace
[21:38] for every trouble you've
[21:39] been through except the one
[21:41] you are going through
[21:42] right now.
[21:45] It is foolishness to think
[21:46] that God provides grace
[21:49] for every trouble you've
[21:50] been through except the one
[21:51] you are going through now.
[21:53] What does that mean?
[21:54] If God helped you yesterday,
[21:55] it's the same today.
[21:58] It's the same today.
[22:00] The same God who sustained
[22:03] you, the same God who did
[22:05] that for you, he's the same
[22:06] today.
[22:08] I want you to know that
[22:10] Jesus, there's no one like
[22:12] Jesus.
[22:12] You can count on him.
[22:15] That's why I said that,
[22:16] I will not fear, what can
[22:18] man do to me?
[22:19] He is there.
[22:21] He is a constant of
[22:23] proportionality.
[22:24] He's the one you can count
[22:25] on.
[22:25] You can count on Jesus any
[22:27] day, any time.
[22:28] If he loved you yesterday,
[22:30] he still loves you.
[22:31] Oh, if he loved you today,
[22:32] he will love you tomorrow.
[22:34] Jesus does not change.
[22:35] He is the same yesterday,
[22:37] today, and forever.
[22:39] Pastors might change.
[22:41] Prophets might change.
[22:42] Situations might change.
[22:44] Friends might change.
[22:45] Circumstances might change.
[22:46] But Jesus does not change.
[22:49] He's the same yesterday,
[22:51] today, and forever.
[22:52] If you believe in God,
[22:53] if you believe in God,
[22:53] yes, Lord.
[22:54] Yes, Lord.
[22:56] Jesus does not change.
[22:58] He is the same.
[23:00] You can count on his love.
[23:02] He's the same.
[23:03] You can count on his mercy.
[23:05] He's the same.
[23:06] You can count on his kindness.
[23:08] He's the same.
[23:09] You can count on his goodness.
[23:10] He's the same.
[23:11] Jesus doesn't change.
[23:13] He said, Jesus Christ,
[23:14] the same.
[23:15] I really want to encourage somebody.
[23:17] It doesn't matter
[23:18] what's going on in your life.
[23:20] It doesn't matter
[23:20] what you have been through.
[23:22] It doesn't change.
[23:23] It doesn't matter
[23:24] the circumstance
[23:25] you find yourself.
[23:26] It doesn't change.
[23:27] It doesn't matter
[23:27] who is against you.
[23:29] Jesus doesn't change.
[23:30] You can count on him.
[23:32] I don't know
[23:33] what you might be going through.
[23:34] But have you forgotten
[23:35] what he did for you?
[23:39] There was a time
[23:40] you taught everything.
[23:41] All hope was lost.
[23:43] And God, Jesus,
[23:44] came through for you.
[23:46] He has immutability.
[23:48] He doesn't change.
[23:49] He's the same.
[23:50] Am I preaching this?
[23:51] I'm going to talk.
[23:52] Jesus doesn't change.
[23:53] He has immutability.
[23:55] When you look at all others,
[23:56] they change.
[23:58] His holy character
[23:59] never changes.
[24:00] His righteous standards
[24:01] never changes.
[24:02] His divine purpose
[24:04] never changes.
[24:05] His faithful word
[24:07] never changes.
[24:07] His omnipotent power
[24:10] never changes.
[24:11] His steadfast love
[24:12] never changes.
[24:14] His divine sovereignty
[24:16] and sovereign authority
[24:18] never changes.
[24:19] If he could do it
[24:20] last time,
[24:21] he would be able
[24:21] to do it again.
[24:23] Praise the Lord.
[24:24] Jesus,
[24:25] the same yesterday,
[24:26] today,
[24:27] and forever.
[24:29] So then,
[24:29] if we say
[24:30] Jesus has immutability,
[24:32] that means we're talking
[24:33] about his God.
[24:35] If he has,
[24:36] didn't you remember
[24:37] I've been teaching
[24:37] about the deity
[24:38] of Jesus Christ?
[24:39] In fact,
[24:40] this scripture
[24:40] we've been using,
[24:41] 2 Timothy 2,
[24:42] verse 12,
[24:43] remember?
[24:44] If we suffer,
[24:46] we shall also reign
[24:47] with him.
[24:48] If we deny him,
[24:49] he will also deny.
[24:50] The 13 is where
[24:51] I want to go to.
[24:52] Look at verse 13.
[24:53] If we believe not,
[24:54] yet he abides faithful,
[24:56] he cannot deny.
[24:57] He does not change.
[24:59] He abides faithful.
[25:01] He abides faithful.
[25:03] Oh, come on.
[25:03] I said Jesus,
[25:04] abides faithful.
[25:05] Now,
[25:07] this is actually
[25:08] talking about God,
[25:09] but it applies to Jesus.
[25:12] It applies to Jesus.
[25:13] So if it applies to Jesus,
[25:15] that tells us
[25:15] that Jesus Christ
[25:16] is God.
[25:18] James 1,
[25:19] verse 17,
[25:19] it says,
[25:20] God,
[25:20] there's no shadow
[25:22] of turning
[25:22] or variableness.
[25:24] God,
[25:24] nothing says that,
[25:26] every good gift
[25:28] and every perfect gift
[25:29] is from above
[25:30] and comes down
[25:31] from the Father of light
[25:32] with whom
[25:33] is no variableness,
[25:34] neither shadow of turn.
[25:35] There's no variableness
[25:37] with God
[25:37] and Jesus Christ said,
[25:39] I am constant.
[25:40] Jesus Christ said,
[25:41] I have immutability,
[25:43] no variable.
[25:43] So Jesus Christ
[25:44] is God.
[25:45] He's the divine one
[25:46] and so that's why
[25:47] we can count on him.
[25:49] These are his claims.
[25:50] They said that
[25:51] you haven't seen Abraham
[25:52] and he said,
[25:53] Abraham,
[25:54] you are not even yet 50.
[25:55] He said,
[25:55] Abraham saw your days
[25:56] and he said,
[25:57] I'm telling you,
[25:58] before,
[25:58] John 8,
[26:01] 58,
[26:01] before Abraham,
[26:03] before Abraham,
[26:04] I am.
[26:05] So you can tell clearly
[26:06] that Jesus Christ
[26:08] is God.
[26:10] These are his claims
[26:10] so we can count on him.
[26:12] Say,
[26:13] I can count on Jesus.
[26:14] I can count on him.
[26:15] Three things.
[26:15] So number one,
[26:16] you can count on Jesus
[26:17] because of his majestic name.
[26:19] You can count on Jesus
[26:20] because of his faithful claims
[26:22] and his claims,
[26:24] sorry,
[26:25] because of his claim.
[26:26] And then number three,
[26:27] that's very important.
[26:30] His claims are exclusive,
[26:31] sorry,
[26:32] you can count on him
[26:32] because he's exclusive.
[26:33] Number three,
[26:34] because of his unwavering faithfulness.
[26:39] Let's look at the text again.
[26:40] Jesus Christ,
[26:41] the same.
[26:43] When?
[26:45] When?
[26:47] And then when?
[26:49] And then when?
[26:50] For Abraham.
[26:51] His unwavering faithfulness,
[26:53] the same.
[26:54] He can count.
[26:55] So this scripture tells us
[26:57] that there's no one like Jesus
[26:59] and you can count on him
[27:00] because of his name.
[27:02] You can count on him
[27:03] because if he's the same
[27:04] and God is the same,
[27:05] he's deity.
[27:06] And you can count
[27:07] because of his exclusive claims
[27:08] and you can count on him
[27:10] because of his unwavering faithfulness.
[27:12] Listen to this.
[27:13] Christianity,
[27:14] this is a very strong point
[27:16] I'm about to make.
[27:18] Christianity is not just about
[27:20] believing in doctrines
[27:22] or believing in a theology.
[27:25] Even though what you believe
[27:27] will determine how you behave.
[27:28] So your belief is belief
[27:31] or acceptance of some facts.
[27:33] Christianity is,
[27:34] the base of true Christianity
[27:36] is trust in a person.
[27:41] Your trust,
[27:42] your faith in a person.
[27:44] That is what determines
[27:45] how Christian you are.
[27:48] And the person is Jesus.
[27:49] He's a personal Jesus.
[27:51] Your faith in Jesus
[27:52] more than theological facts you know
[27:55] and agree with.
[27:56] More than greed
[27:58] that you accept.
[28:01] It's faith in a person.
[28:03] Your trust in a person.
[28:05] And you trust that
[28:06] in spite of what is going on,
[28:08] what you are going through,
[28:09] he is the same.
[28:10] He is faithful.
[28:13] God is faithful.
[28:15] Jesus is faithful.
[28:16] You can count on his faithfulness.
[28:18] He said,
[28:18] God has said this
[28:20] so we can boldly say,
[28:22] the Lord is my help.
[28:23] I shall not fear.
[28:23] What shall man do unto me?
[28:25] What shall man do?
[28:26] He's faithful.
[28:28] He's faithful.
[28:30] He is not changing.
[28:31] Your situation
[28:32] will not make God different.
[28:35] It's not the complexity
[28:36] of your condition
[28:37] that makes God
[28:38] now has to adapt
[28:39] to something else.
[28:42] Suddenly,
[28:42] a big problem comes.
[28:43] God is now trying to,
[28:44] okay,
[28:44] how am I going to handle this one?
[28:46] How am I going to handle this one?
[28:47] The same yesterday.
[28:53] The same today.
[28:55] The same forever.
[28:57] That means that
[28:58] tenses don't matter.
[29:00] Past tense,
[29:01] present tense,
[29:02] future tense,
[29:02] doesn't matter.
[29:04] Sometimes,
[29:05] he might come late
[29:06] by his own time.
[29:09] You remember?
[29:10] He said,
[29:11] Lord,
[29:11] if you have been here,
[29:12] my brother,
[29:14] John 11,
[29:15] from verse 23,
[29:16] Martha said to Jesus,
[29:17] if you had been here,
[29:19] my brother would not
[29:20] have been dead.
[29:22] But Martha switched
[29:23] and said,
[29:23] nevertheless,
[29:25] whatever you ask God,
[29:27] he can do it.
[29:28] Nevertheless,
[29:29] Jesus Christ
[29:30] might not be
[29:32] on schedule,
[29:34] according to our schedule,
[29:35] but he's still on time.
[29:37] Bible says,
[29:38] at the fullness of time,
[29:39] God sent forth his time,
[29:41] his son,
[29:41] born of a woman,
[29:42] born under the law.
[29:43] The point I'm making
[29:44] is that he's reliable.
[29:46] He's trustworthy.
[29:48] I know sometimes
[29:48] things can happen
[29:49] to hurt you.
[29:50] Somebody you trusted,
[29:52] somebody you believed in,
[29:53] did something
[29:54] and you even questioned.
[29:56] Some people have always said,
[29:57] I don't trust anybody again.
[29:58] Oh, yes.
[29:59] I can understand why.
[30:01] I can understand
[30:02] because human beings
[30:03] are not entirely.
[30:05] So if,
[30:06] but don't let that
[30:07] drive you away
[30:09] from putting
[30:10] all your trust
[30:11] in him.
[30:12] why?
[30:14] He's the same yesterday,
[30:16] he's the same today
[30:17] and he's the same forever.
[30:19] Actually,
[30:20] look at the text.
[30:21] He never said
[30:22] he's the same tomorrow.
[30:27] There's a difference
[30:28] between he's the same tomorrow,
[30:30] he's the same yesterday,
[30:31] today and tomorrow.
[30:31] No.
[30:32] There's a difference
[30:32] between today and tomorrow
[30:33] and the same today
[30:34] and forever.
[30:36] How long is forever?
[30:37] As far as forever
[30:37] can take you.
[30:38] He's the constant one.
[30:42] There's no one like Jesus
[30:43] you can count on him.
[30:44] I don't know what
[30:45] and we all have
[30:47] varying situations.
[30:49] Some are dealing with
[30:50] situations that
[30:51] people don't have a clue.
[30:53] The threat
[30:54] your life is under,
[30:55] your health is under,
[30:56] your finances are under,
[30:58] your marriage is under.
[30:59] The threat,
[31:00] I mean,
[31:00] if somebody,
[31:02] I've heard stories
[31:02] that people have given birth
[31:04] at the age of 60.
[31:06] At the last two years,
[31:07] I heard it.
[31:08] in Nigeria,
[31:09] she gave birth.
[31:10] She's been married
[31:10] for 23 years or so
[31:12] and finally,
[31:14] at the age of 60
[31:16] or 58 or something,
[31:17] she gave birth.
[31:18] Listen,
[31:20] I want to say something.
[31:25] The records of Bible
[31:27] is not just
[31:28] historical information
[31:30] to know
[31:31] about the character of God.
[31:32] It's also to tell you
[31:34] about what God will do.
[31:38] because
[31:38] He is
[31:40] today.
[31:41] He is
[31:41] today.
[31:41] He is
[31:42] today.
[31:42] He is
[31:42] today.
[31:43] He is
[31:43] today.
[31:43] He is
[31:44] today.
[31:47] So,
[31:47] if He did it
[31:48] some time ago,
[31:49] stop worrying.
[31:54] the God
[31:56] who took care of
[31:57] your mother
[31:58] and father
[31:59] yesterday
[31:59] is taking care
[32:01] of you
[32:01] today
[32:02] and you
[32:03] take care
[32:03] of your
[32:03] children
[32:03] tomorrow.
[32:06] The God
[32:07] who took care
[32:08] of your parents
[32:09] yesterday
[32:09] is taking care
[32:10] of you
[32:11] today
[32:11] and you
[32:12] take care
[32:12] of your
[32:12] children
[32:13] tomorrow.
[32:14] He is
[32:14] the same
[32:15] yesterday,
[32:16] today,
[32:17] and forever.
[32:17] I came
[32:19] with an
[32:19] announcement
[32:20] that you
[32:20] can count
[32:20] on Jesus.
[32:22] You can
[32:23] count on
[32:23] Him.
[32:25] You can
[32:26] count on
[32:26] Him.
[32:27] Even when
[32:27] the messenger
[32:28] looks different,
[32:31] when the
[32:31] messengers
[32:32] feel different
[32:33] to you,
[32:34] count on
[32:35] Jesus
[32:35] because He is
[32:37] the same
[32:37] yesterday,
[32:38] He is the
[32:39] same today,
[32:40] and He is
[32:40] the same
[32:41] forever.
[32:42] Not
[32:43] tomorrow,
[32:44] but forever.
[32:45] As long
[32:46] as forever
[32:46] can take
[32:47] you,
[32:47] Jesus
[32:48] doesn't
[32:49] change.
