[0:51] And there was a lot of time he had bewitched them with sorcery.
[0:56] But when they heard Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
[1:08] Then Simon himself believed also.
[1:10] And when he was baptized, he continued with Philip and wondering, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
[1:20] Now, when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John, who, when they were come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost.
[1:35] For as yet it was falling upon none of them.
[1:39] Only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[1:44] Then laid they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
[2:14] For as yet it was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

[2:45] Then I said, Simon and said, pray ye to the Lord for me that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
[2:54] And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
[3:07] And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip saying, arise and go towards the south unto the way that goes down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

[3:23] Father, we pray that let the scrolls be opened for you are worthy.

[3:34] Lord, as we come to you, open the scriptures to us, open our understanding and that we can comprehend the scriptures and see Christ in every page.
[3:46] I submit myself under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
[3:49] That Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable to you.
[3:55] Let the words of my heart be acceptable to you.
[4:25] In verse 8, the Bible says that, and there was great joy in the city.
[4:34] Shall we all read it out together?
[4:37] And there was great joy in that city.
[4:39] There was great joy in that city.
[4:42] What caused the joy?
[4:44] Verse 5, Philip went down to Samaria.
[4:48] And people go down to Samaria, but Philip did something in Samaria.
[4:53] And that was the cause of the joy.
[4:56] Went down to Samaria and preached Christ unto them.
[5:00] What did he preach?
[5:02] What did he preach?
[5:03] He preached Christ unto them.
[5:05] And then we saw as well that, I think in the verse 3, that they that were scattered abroad, verse 4,
[5:12] They that were scattered abroad, went everywhere, preaching the word.
[5:17] From Philip's preaching, we can understand that when the Bible said they were preaching the word,
[5:24] verse 5 tells us what the word meant.
[5:27] He went down.
[5:28] Everyone was preaching Christ in the word.
[5:31] Philip went down and preached Christ to them.
[5:33] So the preaching of Christ is the preaching of the word.
[5:36] You can't separate the word of God from Jesus.
[5:40] When the word of God is preached in truth, Jesus is revealed and known.
[5:45] When the word of God is preached in truth, Jesus is revealed and known.
[5:50] So if you are in church for a while and you don't know Jesus,
[5:54] it looks like you have not been exposed to the preaching,
[5:58] the true preaching of the word of God, which is also called the gospel.
[6:02] Now, we see that Philip, because of true gospel preaching,
[6:08] or because of the testimony of Jesus, there was great joy in the city.
[6:15] It's the preaching of the true gospel that accounted for the casting out of demons,
[6:22] or demons screaming out, or clean spirit coming out with loud voice coming out of many.
[6:28] He didn't say he was casting.
[6:31] The preaching was making demons come out.
[6:34] Verse 6 says that,
[6:36] And the people of one accord gave heed to the things which Philip speak,
[6:41] hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
[6:43] So as they gave attention to him and saw the signs and wonders,
[6:48] not demons he was casting, he was doing miracles.
[6:50] As he was preaching, his core job was declaring the gospel.
[6:55] And as he declared the gospel, Mark chapter 16 verse 20 happened.
[6:59] God was working with them, confirming his word with signs following.
[7:04] So as the people, he was declaring the word,
[7:07] he was announcing the gospel of the kingdom.
[7:10] He was preaching Christ.
[7:12] God was confirming his word with signs and wonders.
[7:14] And the people were following, looking at him,
[7:17] and the people were with one of God.
[7:19] They gave heed.
[7:20] Listen to that.
[7:21] I like that word, they gave heed.
[7:23] It wasn't like they were just watching.
[7:26] He had something to say.
[7:28] So people who only want to do signs without Jesus to speak about,
[7:32] they are misleading people.
[7:34] I said last Thursday that the Bible is not,
[7:39] it's not our preaching that makes the Bible the word of God.
[7:44] It's the word of God that makes our preaching meaningful.
[7:48] The power is not in the preaching,
[7:52] but powerful preaching is based on the word declared.
[7:56] When the word is declared, the power of God comes to bear.
[8:00] So it is not our preaching that makes the word of God powerful.
[8:05] It's the word of God that makes our useless preachings powerful.
[8:10] It's the word.
[8:11] Now, I want to draw your attention to something very interesting in that text
[8:15] that they gave heed.
[8:18] That means you could not ignore what he was saying
[8:21] and only watch what he was doing.
[8:24] What he was saying was so married to what he was doing
[8:27] or what was happening
[8:28] that you can't just focus on what was happening
[8:32] and ignore what he was saying
[8:33] because his mission was to say.
[8:38] That is the gospel.
[8:39] The gospel is worse.
[8:42] The gospel is a message.
[8:44] So we can't be silent on our message
[8:47] and try to win people by our activities and our actions.
[8:51] The activities themselves are not good enough.
[8:55] It's the message that gives birth to the activities
[8:58] that give the power behind the activities.
[9:02] So they gave heed with one accord.
[9:04] Bible says they gave heed and the people with one accord gave heed.
[9:09] I like the word.
[9:10] It is in watching what he was doing first.
[9:12] They gave heed unto the things which Philip spoke,
[9:17] hearing and seeing the miracles.
[9:20] They gave heed, hearing and seeing the miracle.
[9:23] The miracles that they heard and saw made them give heed to.
[9:29] This guy, let's listen to what he's saying
[9:30] because they realized that it's what he's saying
[9:32] that was producing what was happening.
[9:35] And Bible says that there was
[9:37] and then for unclean spirits crying out
[9:44] with loud voice came out from many.
[9:48] Usually demon possession is a lot of people.
[9:53] Yeah, it's not only a few people.
[9:55] A lot of people.
[9:56] So when you are on the street,
[9:58] about 80% or more of the people are demon possessed.
[10:05] In the nightclub,
[10:07] about 99% of the people are demon possessed.
[10:13] I'm telling you the truth.
[10:16] Demon possessing sin even influence your tastes
[10:19] and your decisions.
[10:22] There are things you like
[10:23] that are as a result of demon influence.
[10:26] Because the way you like alcohol,
[10:30] no.
[10:32] Because in you, your right sense,
[10:33] you know it's affecting your health.
[10:37] There are people who like things they don't want to like.
[10:41] And it is usually many.
[10:44] Right?
[10:44] I'm talking about people here.
[10:46] Usually not only one or two people.
[10:48] Many.
[10:48] You think you're alone.
[10:49] You don't know.
[10:54] If we ask everybody
[10:57] to write three things
[10:59] anonymously,
[11:01] that really troubles them.
[11:03] That tempts them.
[11:05] And we collect it all.
[11:07] You'll be shocked
[11:07] that almost everybody
[11:09] are very similar.
[11:10] Many who were possessed,
[11:16] Bible says,
[11:17] demons were coming out of many
[11:19] who were possessed.
[11:20] For unclean spirits crying with loud voice
[11:23] came out of many
[11:25] that were possessed with them.
[11:27] As a result of the preaching of the gospel.
[11:29] Bible didn't tell us he was lay hands.
[11:31] He was just preaching Christ.
[11:33] And demons were running out of people.
[11:35] That's why
[11:36] don't stay at home.
[11:39] Don't just stay at home
[11:40] when you can come to church.
[11:42] Because when you come to church,
[11:45] there's an opportunity
[11:46] for that demonization
[11:47] or demon influences
[11:49] or any
[11:50] sometimes they may know
[11:52] but maybe there's a demon
[11:53] in your pocket.
[11:57] It really troubling you.
[11:59] It's trying and timing you.
[12:02] During the preaching,
[12:03] they leave.
[12:05] Many demons live,
[12:07] move out of an environment
[12:09] or a territory
[12:10] where Christ is preached.
[12:14] That's why
[12:15] how many of you
[12:16] have experienced this before?
[12:17] After church,
[12:18] you feel freer.
[12:22] Okay,
[12:23] I know you won't lift your hand
[12:24] because you may think
[12:24] that's a certain thing.
[12:26] But usually,
[12:26] after church,
[12:27] you feel lighter.
[12:29] You feel
[12:31] freer in the living
[12:32] because
[12:33] he said,
[12:33] if you abide my way,
[12:35] John chapter 8 verse 31,
[12:38] if you continue in my way,
[12:39] then you are my disciples indeed
[12:41] and you will know the truth
[12:42] and the truth,
[12:44] the truth you know
[12:45] is what makes you free.
[12:47] You will know the truth
[12:49] and the truth
[12:49] shall make you free.
[12:50] So usually,
[12:52] when there's good,
[12:53] true,
[12:54] Christ-centered
[12:55] gospel
[12:56] of the kingdom of God

[13:55] nice things to me
[13:56] and I was so happy.

[14:01] only to real
[14:01] and I felt so free.
[14:05] I woke up

[14:07] The word of God
[14:08] does something to you.
[14:09] When we hear
[14:10] the word of God
[14:11] publicly read,
[14:12] Isaiah chapter 43,
[14:13] it did something
[14:14] to some people
[14:15] who were paying heat.
[14:18] A paying heat.
[14:19] And so
[14:19] when they
[14:21] gave heat to Philo
[14:22] or they heard
[14:23] the things he was preaching,
[14:24] demons left by themselves
[14:25] and because of that
[14:26] there was great joy
[14:28] in the city.
[14:29] When people
[14:30] don't have joy,
[14:31] it's a sign
[14:31] demons are harassing them.
[14:34] No.
[14:35] Demon harassment
[14:36] is
[14:38] not congruent
[14:40] with joy.
[14:41] So when you're
[14:43] on the train,
[14:44] you look at people,
[14:46] you can tell,

[14:48] possessed with demons
[14:50] or harassed with devils.

[17:25] some powers

[17:28] That is sorcery.

[17:32] who are supposed
[17:33] to be preachers
[17:33] and who are using
[17:34] sorcery.

[18:17] this name
[18:18] and his brand
[18:20] was high.
[18:22] Top brand.

[18:25] And how did he get it?
[18:26] He was using sorcery.

[18:30] big congregation.

[18:33] politicians
[18:33] consulted him.
