The 6 foot 6 inch next Sammy Hoopia. The record sale for a finished top flight player. Yeah he would be that much. That's all on you Pete. Anything you need to know about him is style of play for FoxEgg.News. plenty on there for Elari, Kangas and the Amy. Pete, anything you want to point people in the direction of before we get cracking with the preview?
speaker-0: Well, we've said many time on the podcast regarding for Fox8.news that for Fox8.news is where we have not just the breaking news, but essentially give it a a a beat, give it a step, give it a breather, and then after a day or two, we'll have a big article about that person, about the news, etc., about the story. We'll let the story breathe and then talk to the right people. And in the last couple of weeks, the examples are again, with our news sign in Kengas Niemi. You've spoken to the guy who broke the story. So we've got all the info on him from the person who broke it out on the world on on social media. And then, of course, 48 hours later he joins Leicester. So you've got that on for Foxtake.news. And then also regarding the sale of Leicester City, the person who broke the story was Rob Tanner, who you may remember from the Leicester Mercury's now with the Athletic. And we've got a fantastic interview with Rob. It will be on for Foxtake.news shortly in terms of ⁓ you'll be able to read the interview but also if you want to watch it you can first of all it's on the podcast however you're watching this etc you can on Apple Podcasts on Spotify if you want to watch it on ⁓ YouTube you can it's on there now you can watch it on ⁓ Spotify as well and it's been on for the last couple of days loads of discussions about it again from the people who break the news who break the stories so again Lots of breaking news going around in the world of Leicester City at the moment with the transfers, et cetera. More on that next week after the transfer window with our ins and outs show where we talk about all the transfer news again after it's happened, once it's all been completed. But that's what you get with for Fox8.news. Give it a day or two, and then you get the lowdown from the people who actually break the news. So you don't get a snippet, you get all the details. So yeah, head over to Fox8.news. And if you've already subscribed, thank you very much. And we're talking
speaker-1: Yeah, you're one of your many places of work, but the one that you spend most time at is absolutely in Milton Keynes. And you spent a bit of time living around that kind of area before you came to your senses and moved back to Leicestershire, didn't you?
speaker-0: I did, yes. I I the studios basically T V studios are based in ⁓ in Milton Keynes. That's why I go there. So ⁓ yeah, sixty-four miles. ⁓ two of them are ⁓ off the motorway at their end and two of them are off the motorway at junction twenty three. So a lot of it is on the ⁓ one, Junction fourteen, ⁓ and then ⁓ yeah, I I lived for ⁓ essentially a year in the central Milton Keynes, ⁓ met the wife and then we we lived in Leighton Buzzard, which is only a couple of miles from ⁓ Milton Keynes. So I know the area well, ⁓ know the stadium well. worked there. I don't know whether you've worked there, but I remember covering and commentating on the ⁓ on the women's ⁓ European championships there actually on a couple of games because I was based there at the time. So it was nice and easy. Some ⁓ yeah, very enjoyable ⁓ stadium. We've done many events there actually, they're not inside the football ground. ⁓ they've got an arena next to it as well. ⁓ weightlifting, all sorts of bits and bob. But ⁓ yeah it's it's a it's a fabulous stadium that many people will kind of mock because obviously Milton Keynes don't fill it's MK Dons. ⁓ but the actual stadium itself, in terms of just the ground, it's a fabulous ground. It's slightly different to the King Power, slightly different to say the Riverside, et cetera, Southampton. There it's just something different, but I think it's a fabulous stadium. So everyone should have a great time. Dead easy to get to, loads of parking, etc. etc. Have a great time. Central MK, you can't go wrong. ⁓ head to the 30 district and that. And if if you do go in the mid summer tap, tell them that Pete sent you, you'll be fine.
speaker-1: There you go, that's insider information from for Foxx Pete Selby on an away day at MKDON's tomorrow lunchtime. That is what we're looking ahead to probably in a few minutes time. We need to look back before we look forward though, because we've had a couple of games since we last sat on a podcast. we I went to I was at the King Power, the first league game of the season, it's Bert and Albion, Sun was shining, ⁓ really decent crowd. the pre-match sort of fan zone outside the stadium, brilliant. The band was playing, there was food trucks, was games for the kids, there was like tech ball, there was all sorts of stuff. And it was brilliant. And the birch was there, it was his birthday, you're belting out when you're smiling. And then the referee's whistle went and it all went downhill from there, unfortunately. The football started and the fun stopped. Yeah, the first quarter of that game, they concede two goals. and have a sending off obviously made the rest of afternoon extremely difficult to watch, regardless of whether you think Leicester should be putting six goals past Burton Albion. It's just ultimately there's people who maybe don't remember the league one season from 08 09, maybe thought that it would be easy to turn every team over in league one. And I think what we've realized early doors is that's not the case. We're not going to go into the specifics of what happened at Burton Albion really. ⁓ but Tuesday night against Ipswich in terms of performance level was better, but I guess the question I want to open with Pete is, do we have to be sort of aware of the reality that one, Ipswich weren't playing their strongest side, two, we weren't the favourites for that game and three, Ipswich tend to play more open games so that would allow Russell Martins-Lester to play in the areas that they want to play in. So I think there are a number of reasons why the performance against Ipswich looked better. But can we use that as fans as a stepping stone of confidence
speaker-0: Three things that you mentioned there, three kind of questions at the start. and I would say no to all of them, and then yes to the the final question. So is it because Ipswich played a reserve side? No. Is it because they play in open style? No. I'm not really worried about Ipswich at all. They're a Premier League club, we're a league one club. The reality of that I think Leicester fans all kind of ⁓ agree with now. I think if we won the two games in the league beforehand. three or four nil, then we might be able to look at that difference and go, well actually when you look at the reserves, is it anything too different? No, it miles apart. So I think it was just a a hugely ⁓ encouraging performance without going over the top. I think it was miles better than anything that we've seen in the league so far. and I think we should be very encouraged. So ⁓ I and there are specific reasons for that. And we all know that I I We've all got some some opinions on Leicester. We all know that certain players we like and we don't like, certain styles, managers, et cetera. ⁓ and when it's when it comes to for Fox Ake, and me and yourself, Rob, have been talking for 13, 14 years on this podcast, I'm I don't think I've ever been as strong in my view. I wrote on for FoxAke.news this week, the other day, head to and you can read the column now, regarding Harry Suter to shouldn't play for Leicester again. And I used Harry Suter as main man because he's the captain. And you can apply his name and my thoughts about him to the likes of Caleb McCauley and Oliver Skip. And maybe one or two others who probably won't play again, the likes of Walt Fass, etc. But my point was kind of proved against Ipswich. You can't play players who don't want to be at the football club for many reasons. Many reasons. ⁓ the the the biggest example would be you don't want to get injured. Think of an Ollie Watkins, doesn't want to play for Aston Villard because he's gonna basically earn five hundred thousand
speaker-1: Yeah, the clear out is going pretty well. think Russell Martins seems happy with the business that Leicester have done so far. I think as fans and as journalists and commentators who cover the club, we would look at the window so far and go, actually, we've managed to ship out quite a big number and a couple of very problematic ones and brought in some players who I think will do very well for Leicester City. It's just about making sure that these last few days, the sort of intensity of that continues. and that the remaining dead wood or the remaining stench of failure is sort of aired out if you like. We'll talk about specifically a couple of the younger players who did very well against Zip Switch in a couple of minutes. We'll just have a look at what people are saying on the comments. We've also got Liam from MK1 Podcast waiting patiently in the wings. We'll get him on in a few minutes to find out everything we need to know about Milton Keynes' Dons, MK Dons. regular viewer of the show says, big game this weekend. Even in defeat switch at least we put up a fight. Harry Howe looks like a young King Clancy when dribbling. It's very niche reference that. Got to watch Callum Patterson for MK Don's veteran workhorse. Andy Moore of For Fox Sake saying he was in the home end when Gradle scored a late equalizer back in our other league one year. That's one of the ways that we like to refer to it. Paul saying that the team played with vitality and enthusiasm against Ipswich. The acid test will come against MK Dons. And resist control says good evening and says that the second Ipswich goal, Soutar didn't even put a leg out. And that kind of echoes what Pete's saying about him. Maybe not being 100 % committed. It's interesting with Soutar because the Sheffield United interest went away. And that kind of was timed with him getting the captain's armband for a second game in a row or whatever it was at the time. So everything looked like, okay, Su to stay in and then Rexam
speaker-0: Yeah, Paige. Paige for me it has to be ⁓ a Luco at the back, but Paige, and that's the the point about trusting these young players and not having the likes of Oliver Skip, which is not interest at all, go away. Do you need to sign a more defensive minded central midfielder? Probably, but that's again in the transfer window. But what we've got is we've got a youngster who's being touted around and touted around that that Manchester United and Arsenal, etc., are gonna purchase him. It didn't look like a player who wanted away ⁓ against Ipswich. Was he playing for a move? Fine. Play against MK Dons. Play brilliantly on TV and then get your move. That's not a problem. But you've got to play him because if not, he is the cent if it doesn't go, he's the central player in my arm midfield alongside Braybrook. Now, does that mean he drops deeper? Well he's such a classy player. And again, we're in League One with respect to all the opposition. He should be more than comfortable playing in that position. Him and Braybrook could really dovetail that position and then maybe a chaplain alongside them ⁓ a little bit further back or one of maybe a culin, etc. So there's there's plenty of options there. But for me, Paige has to play. Nice big pitch, nice ground, et cetera. Howl out on one side, Watson out on the other side. It looks like it's a game that Leicester can really attack and play these youngsters. Play them. These are our players. Okay. Fit those players that we've signed all around these players. And and we should be fine. At the back, a little bit of an issue obviously in center half, whether our new guy's going to play or not, not too sure. Depends on whether he's fit or not. But if a Luca is going to be fit, he's got to start. And he's got to start in the center of defense. Now, alongside him, that would be a big question mark. Thomas played in that position and was okay, maybe at fault. someone who mentioned Suter, I think, was probably referring to the Burton
speaker-1: Ultimately, the slightly longer form idea, the bigger picture, like, if Leicester do get their target of getting out of this division this season, then those young players that have come from the academy have stepped up and played a full season in League One and are then better prepared to play in the Championship. Nick Carvels commented, evening Nick, thanks for your comment, thanks for watching, saying, hope we never see Suta Rakoli skip Hamza Mavadidi ever again, ⁓ echoing Pete's thoughts there and I think... Russell Martin starting to sort of shake that out, isn't he? I was going to ask you about then me is the last one ⁓ before we get. OK, yeah, all of those players have been for years.
speaker-0: Had that chance, this is a Yeah, it's not a case of, ⁓ don't like him, gone. Like Skip always comes across as a nice chap. Fine, but you can't play him. You cannot play him. Harry Souter, in my article, I mentioned we all sat up at one o'clock in the morning watching ⁓ Australia going, If we had him last season, we may not have gone down. Look what he did in the last two or three games. He was our best player by a country mile, scoring goals as well as blocking them at one end. But all of a sudden, when you want to move, you're nowhere near, you're off it. So they've got to go. And again, it's not Give the youth a chance. When things go wrong, it's always an easy thing to say, give the youth a chance, just throw in a load of kids. These aren't kids. These are from one of the best academies around. They've proved themselves against Ipswich, a Premier League side, that they're more than capable of holding their own. Put them on the big pitcher MK, and I'm sure they can perform. Against a very good side, by the way, which we'll hear from Liam.
speaker-1: We will, we're going to get him in now. Liam from MK1 podcast. Thank you for waiting. We're always late Liam, because one, we have, we talk for about 10 minutes before we actually go live and then we talk too much about other stuff. Liam, before we get into the game specifically, first of all, thank you very much for being with us. Secondly, I would like to know, because we've not really talked about him on this show, which is quite rare. I would like to know your thoughts on Russell Martin.
speaker-2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, obviously we're one of the clubs you know him very well compared to sort of wider football ⁓ pyramid, you could say, and ⁓ have on a podcast a few times, met in person a few times outside of the club when he's for example when Dean Lewinton retired, he was there for the evening, sort of celebrating Dean Lewington's career. ⁓ yeah, I mean he's my mite, isn't he? I think you have to love him or hate him. I think he the context of our football club ⁓ obviously came in w had a massive impact during COVID and then two days before the season ⁓ we had Bournemouth away in the Caribbean Cup and he decided to leave. ⁓ completely out of the blue, toddled players at halftime he was leaving. ⁓ And then yeah, obviously we go on that second half and get absolutely pumped five one by Bournemouth. So ⁓ yeah, I think ever since then, I think there's been a bit of a a sour taste in a lot of Don's fans' thoughts on him. And I think you'll see that on Saturday. ⁓ just in just terms of the way he left. I think as a manager, as a coach, he you know, he's he's very forward thinking as as you guys know, and he has a I think he's very stubborn. ⁓ but it sometimes, you know, that can pay off. And you we I think we've seen it pay off at times. It's just I think you know the cut the common the common thing with Russell Martin is you know, where's the success in in in that approach? You know, a lot of mid-table finishes, a lot of nearlies, and not of a lot of Could have, shoulda, would have, ⁓ and you know, not a lot of trophies in that cabinet. So that's the big concern with him is that can he convert that style into success? And I think a lot of clubs like that, like his style of football in theory. And then when it comes to you know, January, February, March, and you're you're in 10th or 9th, and you know, not really whether Leicester should be in League One, to be honest. and then you're like, Okay, well, we're not where we want to be. How do we go from there? And I
speaker-1: I think the higher ups probably will Liam. It's not about us lowly, fan channels, fans, journalists, commentators. think the rest of us are probably, especially after the few seasons that we've had, patience is not something that we've got a huge amount of at the moment. And patience for a stubborn style of play that as you say, hasn't got a remarkable track record of success. Pete you're nodding along there. I think you probably. I the same thing as me. I would be concerned by sort of November time. If we haven't started to look like a side that's going to be challenging for an automatic promotion place, then the patients are going to run out very quickly.
speaker-0: Yeah, absolutely. I mean my my first port of call really on this on this podcast is I am very much lacking in the lid department here. Look at the s look at your hair, Liam and Rob compared to mine. This is yeah, this is absolutely disgraceful. It's almost that that is
speaker-1: Got a few years on us, Pete, it's fine.
speaker-0: do have a few years but I I'm I'm lacking it. ⁓ my my question to you Liam and obviously this is before this is before the Leicester game and this is a couple of games into the season, but if you just take us back because we we believe you. We know that you've not changed your mind. If we were talking before the season started and I know quite a lot about MK because I work in Middleton Keynes an awful lot and ⁓ we've got scarves up in the in the gallery at work this in the studio ⁓ of teams that people support and there are there are MK scarves believe it or not. And ⁓ and obviously it took a while to get back up into the where we are in in in League One, et cetera. But I wanted to know what your thoughts were going into this season. What were your expectations about Milton Keene's stuns? ⁓ where did you hope you would finish? But also where realistically you expect. Did you expect to fight for promotion or to expect to ⁓ fight for promotion? Because I personally, just to throw this in for ten pence beforehand, I thought you were and I think you will do very, very well this year.
speaker-2: Yeah, I mean, you know, I I I think I mean, a lot of people see it as ⁓ we've had two seasons now or three trans windows to prepare for League One football. Obviously, ⁓ last season ⁓ the squad was very much recruited to be in League One the the following season. Obviously, we did end up doing, you know, you look at players like Nathaniel Mendez Line, Callum Patterson, Aaron Collins, you know, they're they're not recruited to play elite football, quite frankly. ⁓ and you know, they had to, you know, prove to to get out of that league and and almost prove their worth and now they're now they're in that division and But the recruitment's continued ⁓ for based off that notion. You know, ⁓ Dan Balassa, Ryan Winsel, who's in League One team of season last season, ⁓ Charlie Good was also in League One team of the season last season. ⁓ and that's just a few names, there's so many more on top of that. you know, like I Ryan Barnett is the most recent signing, ⁓ Will Dennis, who had a good sort of loan spells in the league last season, who's potentially nearly number one in goal. So yeah, I I think ⁓ this season's an interesting one. ⁓ I I think League one is super, super competitive. ⁓ more competitive than maybe it's ever been potentially. ⁓ I wouldn't say the teams come down for the championship are gonna have an easy time. I think we've seen with obviously yourselves, Wednesday, you know, not exactly getting your way in the first couple of games. I think Leicester's a bit an exception, but you know, regardless, ⁓ the the point still stands. And I think there's been history in the past of League Two teams who have, you know, really committed to spending ⁓ you know, loads of money in in the in the in the in that fourth tier, coming up to the third tier, tend to do well. ⁓ know, I f I think the model to follow is Stockport. I think Stockport have had a really solid sort of couple League One campaigns and you know that I reckon this season they'll be up there again. And I
speaker-1: It's a, it's an interesting one because Lester fans are saying pretty much the same thing about tomorrow lunchtime. Hopefully it's going to be the start of our season. We've had, we've obviously had the, we've had a draw against knots County defeat to Burton. You've had a couple of draws. ⁓ you got knocked out of the league cup in the, in the first round as well against, against Norwich. So we, mean, looking at the lineups on paper, I've got to admit, I haven't seen MK Duns yet this season, but, looks like sort of three, five, two, am I right? Wing back kind of thing. What And you say there that you're used to in the past, trying to break down our positions that aren't quite as good with the ball. So what are your thoughts in terms of, because Leicester have had a ridiculous amount of the ball, as you would expect under Russell Martin, and done very little with it. So do you expect to see your side sort of sit in, absorb any potential early pressure, and then I don't know, are you counter attacking? you high pressing? What are going to see from MK Dant tomorrow?
speaker-2: ⁓ I can imagine how I would how I would manage the game is that I I would let Les have the ball early, ⁓ and let them get comfortable on the football, try and catch them out early. ⁓ I think we've seen signs this season where, you know, they try to play out the back and it's not really worked. ⁓ and I think teams like Northampton have almost capitalised on it, for example. So I'd like to think with the likes of Aaron Collins, Sam Nombe, you know, let's say Ben Wiles, et cetera, et cetera, that those are players who are, you know, pre seasoned League One League One professionals and have you know have proved they've got goal record decent goal records in this league and ⁓ and have been basically nurtured to just press, press, press. ⁓ so I I think if if Leicester come into the game thinking they're gonna be able to knock it around the back for sixty minutes, it's it's not gonna work for them. They're gonna get themselves in a bit of hole early. so I I mean it depends how Russell Martin wants to play. Obviously, he knows his pitch very well, knows stadium very well. So I I reckon he'll be a bit ⁓ I think he will be stubborn. I think he will take that approach. And I think then it'll be up to Dons to hopefully capitalise on it. I think maybe for like 10 15 minutes that'll be the way. And then I think after that it'll settle down and and usually Paul Warren likes to get his team half time and even sort of even Stevens and go out in the second half and tweak a couple of things and then really go for go for games. I think we saw it with Huddersfield ⁓ on the previous weekend where we got absolutely battered by them in that first half. And to be fair, rightfully so, Huddersfield are a very good team. ⁓ and then second half, we changed it up a little bit, changed our approach, and a bit more counter-attacky. And ⁓ yeah, obviously got the rewards. Yes, we got a bit lucky. ⁓ but you know, you need you need luck on football sometimes. So yeah, I I think I think if it falls our
speaker-1: Yeah, the names are absolutely right in terms of attacking options that we've got. the problem is our centre backs have too much of the ball and our two centre backs that have started the league games at Soutar and Akoli are absolute donkeys. are players that are there to push people over, barge into them, win the ball back. And Akoli doesn't even really manage that to be perfectly honest with you. But we have signed a new a new Finnish center back who's six foot six and he's telling everybody that will listen that he's an amazing footballer he's very good on the ball and he's going to play in the premier league one day. That was his interview that was published today with E2 Okola who was the journalist that we spoke to on for Fox eight.News who broke the story. Yeah, Kangas name. He's got a very high opinion of himself. He's got curtains and ear and two earrings in even any place. I know he's going to be a ball playing center back. Before I get Pete. Cause Pete looks like he's got at least one more question for you, Liam. I'll just remind everybody that's watching and listening, ⁓ that, ⁓ in a moment or two, we'll do our usual two features on the, on the preview podcast to finish. So get your thinking caps on anybody that has represented both clubs, either on the field or on the bench. And also we'll finish off with predictions. So if you've got any score predictions, get those in the comments now and get your thinking caps on because the, the, the pool of players and coaches to choose from. is very very small for this one it's a tricky one. Pete anything else to quiz Liam on before we get into those two?
speaker-0: Well I I just wanted a couple of names really from Liam. Like two names on your side for Leicester fans to look out for and why. And then two names from the Leicester team that ⁓ that yourself are are particularly worr worried about.
speaker-2: Yeah, sure. ⁓ yeah, Dan Barlazer, I is is the first name. ⁓ coming in from Middlesbrough this summer. ⁓ yeah, was kind of had to replace Liam Kelly, he's gone to Peterborough, ⁓ a player who won our player of the year and players player of the year, ⁓ in League Two. So had a big big shoes to fill, or small shoes considering out the size of Liam Kelly. ⁓ but yeah, ⁓ Dan's been fantastic so far this season. ⁓ has been that ultimate sort of pivot in that sort of ⁓ midfield three. And ⁓ yeah, has been I got a couple of assists already this season, but it's just disputing the ball at an incredible level, really. I've not that we've really seen for a while in this football club, I'd say. And I think, you know, we we obviously he's been paid a I'm assuming a very nice wage packet every week to to play for the football club. But ⁓ yeah, he's a absolutely fantastic footballer for this level. And I think he's gonna take us I think quite far this season if he can stay fit and play forty plus games. I think we'll be doing all right with him and then Think up top, obviously Aaron Collins is getting the goals, but Sam Nombe is the engine room in that in that front line, ⁓ absolute press machine, just ultimate team player. ⁓ was at the academy previously and then was ⁓ was ⁓ moved on and has come back since then and has yeah, gone back to being a fan's favourite straight away. And I think, you know, he's gonna be I think if anyone's gonna cause Leicester issues on Saturday, it'll be him. I just think he's gonna be all over those centre backs and make it a very tough day for them. Terms of Leicester players, I mentioned them already, ⁓ Wes Burns, Alves, ⁓ those two wide players, I think they're gonna be the key to to breaking Eston's team down. ⁓ the right side in particular, ⁓ where Alves will be playing. Geffen Jones has been the main wing back and he's not really a wing back, to be completely honest with you, which is quite I think it's why we're kinda hoping Barnett will start,
speaker-1: Yes, it will. Let's get into a little bit of fun to finish with then. Any... are you going first? Well, no, let me see, because Amit might have beaten you to it here. Amit's very quick. He knew I was asking the question. Lloyd Dyer played for both. Absolutely did. And that was not pre-MK Dons. That was in the MK Dons era. So Lloyd Dyer, legendary winger. Pete, was that yours? I've stolen it.
speaker-0: ⁓ he he yes, he was going to be one of mine. if you go to for fox8.news, we are now in number forty-five to forty, forty-four to forty in our t countdown for the top one hundred Leicester City players of all time. And I'm gonna just let you into a bit of news. He's not in those numbers, he's way towards the hundred mark. But Lloyd Dyer is in there. He is in there. Head to for foxeight.news. The reasons why he's in there. You have to read on for fox8.news. He is there, believe it or not. But again, when you read and you go, actually, yeah, of course he is. ⁓ fabulous player. Love Lloyd Dyer. ⁓ real shame as I write on for Fox8.news that he didn't play in the Premier League for us. But anyway, ⁓ I had him, I had Harvey Barnes on loan. Yeah. ⁓ as well. And then I was struggling because I know that Ben Chilwell was from Milton Keynes, but I don't believe he played for them. But he's from Milton Keynes. Does that count?
speaker-1: You can have that for a half point. Liam, any other names coming to you, either coaching or playing?
speaker-2: Well you you stole mine with Harvey Barnes, which is a shame. yeah. I mean not not on the top of my head to be completely honest. ⁓ obviously yeah, Harvey was a big one for me. ⁓ yeah, we had a lone spell here and he was absolutely fantastic ⁓ that in that season. ⁓ and obviously his club is fantastic.
speaker-1: We've already spent 10 minutes on him, doesn't count. A couple of others that I picked out. Robbie Nielsen, remember him? Scottish right back. All he had on him was a long throw. He literally had nothing else about him. ⁓
speaker-2: And a driver.
speaker-0: Slept outside the ground by looks of things, didn't he? Yeah.
speaker-1: And there's an Academy graduate from Leicester who played one game for Leicester and had a spell at MK Don's years later, Ryan Watson.
speaker-0: ⁓ of course.
speaker-1: And then in terms of coaching, Deepmar Haman was on ⁓ Sven's coaching staff at Leicester and had a player coach, had a player coach stint at MK Dons, didn't he? And big finish, Mad Dog Martin Allen.
speaker-2: ⁓ god. Martin Allen. Yeah. I was dupier when he was there.
speaker-0: I d I don't I don't remember. I don't remember Didi Haman being at Leicester on the coach and stuff.
speaker-1: Yeah, not on the playing staff, coaching staff.
speaker-0: ⁓ this is a this is an this is an article on for FoxAke dot news over the next fortnight. I don't remember that. I'm gonna do some digging. I'm I'm gonna find out that that that's passed me by, that has.
speaker-1: Yeah, well, my research, I say my research, the research that through our new writer, Honey Hicks, who did it, who put it in her preview article today, low down on the opposition. So if it's wrong, don't blame me, blame her, blame the new kids. That's what I said.
speaker-0: Can I just say, by the way, Honey Hicks, I mean, that's got some kind of like Spider Man, Peter Parker, Clark Kent type thing. It's got she's gotta be some superhero somewhere. She's a real She's a Honey Hicks, that is an alias for a superhero, really.
speaker-1: No person! Great writer as well and a great first piece. She's going to be doing a regular feature doing the lowdown on the on the opposition for us looking at form, tactical analysis, players and coaches with feet in both camps, that kind of thing. So that's on foxache.news right now. Right. We'll finish with a prediction. If you're watching along live, get your comments in very quickly because we're going to wrap up in the next couple of minutes. I want at least a score line from everybody involved in the show. I also maybe if you think you can name a goal scorer. or you think you can give us an idea as to how the game's gonna pan out. Let's have a look at that. So Pete, we'll start with you.
speaker-0: ⁓ I think Leicester will win. I I don't think they'll keep a clean sheet, but I think they will will win. And I'm gonna go for two one, but I'm gonna go for Leicester being 2-0 up. I just see that pitch. ⁓ glorious stadium, fabulous stadium, Liam. I don't know whether you were ⁓ listening earlier when we were talking about working at the ground, commentating at the ground, fabulous viewpoint, etc. ⁓ really nice inside the ground. stayed there actually. There's a hotel, isn't there? Double Tree. ⁓ and I've stayed there many times actually with working down there. ⁓
speaker-2: Yeah, Hilton, yeah.
speaker-0: Yeah, really like it. But I can just see that pitch and I go our wingers. You've got Alves, you've got Watson, and you've got Howell. And I think Howell will be the opening goal score. I can see him playing really well. Gonna go for the big man, Alan Biscuits, to s open his account for Leicester up front. Alan Biscuits to score, but Howell and the wingers to really make hay. ⁓ with hopefully Page and Braybrook having the ball for the majority of the time in midfield. And having the ability to pass out wide to two players who will have ⁓ white chalk on their boots because they'll be using the full width of the pitch and ⁓ getting the ball into the big man. That's how I can see the game going. But of course we won't keep a clean sheets. I think it's quite interesting actually. We haven't mentioned the goalkeeper, who's gonna play in goal, whether it's gonna be Stoilarcek or it's gonna be McCarthy, who's been quite poor actually, to be perfectly honest. Let's get it right over the first two games. I got it right with McCarthy being our goalkeeper, but I wouldn't be surprised if Martin looks at ⁓ Stolarček and ⁓ and keeps him in. I I wouldn't be surprised. That's gonna be my prediction. Stolacek will have go gold, but I'm gonna go for a 2-1 Leicester win, conceding late after being 2-0 up.
speaker-1: Liam even though you're on a lester podcast you are allowed to give us your true opinion on how you think the games gonna go tomorrow nobody's gonna let you so let's have your predictions.
speaker-0: No pressure, no pressure, but I know where you are, Danny Milky, don't you?
speaker-2: yeah, no, I mean I gave my s ⁓ rough sort of gauge how I think the game might go, particularly early on. ⁓ I think it'll be goals for sure. I think both teams are better at attacking than they are defending at the moment. ⁓ so yeah, I I I think that yeah, players like Harry Howe for Leicester, what Alves has mentioned, I think they'll have some some luck for sure and and probably get on the score sheet. But I think Don's will as well. ⁓ I think Don's ⁓ one of the better attacking teams of the League One so far this season and they haven't I actually played bad teams in Oxford and Huddersfield. ⁓ obviously, you know, Oxford has still got a good a good League One ⁓ starting eleven at moment and and Huddersfield have always been a good team in League One and always been up there. ⁓ and Don't have competes with them, if not, should it beat at least one of them. So yeah, I think I think San Nombe will finally get off the mark for the season. ⁓ think he'll he'll do some pressing and and just get lucky and be in the right place, right time. And yeah, I mean Aaron Collins, he's the man of the full at the moment. Two two goals, ⁓ two games. I think he gets a third here. And ⁓ yeah, I after we as we spoke about ⁓ our season starting here, we both take a point from Milton Keynes.
speaker-1: Let's have a look at a couple of predictions on the comments before I give mine. Nick Carville saying score prediction 2-2. Couple of goals apiece there. Thomas Simons saying, I predict that I'll lose hope after 10 minutes. We did ask for a scoreline, Thomas, but I've got to say, having been there at the Burton game on Saturday, I cannot argue with the fact that you might go down there with more hope than you end up. for having after the first 10 minutes. I'm gonna go one one, but I hope that that Bristridge is the man to score for Leicester because, you know, getting his account open, getting it going. I mean, all he did against Burton was get barged about by some big centre backs. I know MK Don's
speaker-0: ⁓
speaker-1: You're playing three centre backs and they're all pretty hefty lads. and Bristridge has come from the Slovenian league where I'm not I'm not convinced that he would have been under the same pressure. So the ball bounced around a bit often, but maybe this can be the game where especially if we're talking about less having success in wide areas, maybe if those deliveries are right, Russell Martins actually come out and try to get away from the fact that he's tall by saying his headings, not his game. But I mean, surely you've got you've got a striker who's plus six foot in the box. get a ball into him, he's going to be able to get on the end of that.
speaker-2: You certainly hope so.
speaker-0: You would
speaker-1: Well, he's trying to give another justification for keeping the ball on the floor, anyway, got more predictions in before we finish. Resist control saying that Lester are going to win 2-1, Paul coming in with a 3-1 score prediction. So that is what everybody else thinks. My five things to look out for article will be live on for Fox 8.News shortly. And of course, in reviewing the game, Andy Moore will do five things that we learnt from the game as well. And Pete Selby, like a good little school child, has got his hand up for For the last word, surprise, surprise. Liam, I'll say thank you now for joining us because God only knows what Pete's going to cut him out with now. So really, really appreciate you finally, and good luck tomorrow at lunchtime. Maybe a point a piece would be fair all around considering you've come on our show. Pete, last word for you.
speaker-0: Well, two things actually. ⁓ first of all, Liam, sort them roundabouts out because the ⁓ the the the tarmac on them roundabouts is dreadful. It's ripping up my tires all over the place. It's terrible. So there's that. ⁓ and secondly, ⁓ and and ⁓ more importantly, our new podcast, headlines. And again, this is out on a Monday. Hopefully you're enjoying it. Basically, headlines is where we talk about the headlines at the weekend. So in the Sunday papers, who's writing what about Leicester? What are the headlines and what do they make of the game, but also What you were talking about during the game, social media posts as the game goes on and afterwards. And hopefully it's a little bit more positive than last week because it was rather entertaining. It's about 15 minutes long. I go through the headlines for you, and it's with you first thing on a Monday in your podcast inbox of choice. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, wherever you're listening to this or watching this, you will find headlines. Monday morning, and it's there first thing for you on a Monday. Again, about 15 minutes of going through the headlines. And just a word about the fantastic. ⁓ interview. Of course it was fantastic because it was with me. And Rob Tanner, Rob Tanner from ⁓ formerly of the Leicester Mercury from the year say 2008 through to 2018, and now with the athletic. He broke the story about a fortnight ago about Leicester being for sale. He was the one, along with his ⁓ colleague, who had that brochure and then broke the story. So I interviewed Rob Tanner, talking all things, the sale of Leicester City. Does he think they're going to be sold this season? Why does he think they're being sold? More details about it. And also, it's about 40 minutes long. The last 15 minutes or so, really good because we talk about the good old days. It's funny stories regarding ⁓ Sven, regarding ⁓ Nigel Pearson, Jamie Vardy, ⁓ plenty with Claudio, etc., in those years. ⁓ news from the that what happened in the press
speaker-1: Thank very much, Pete. Thank you very much, Liam. Thank you very much to everybody who's watched this live or watched it back or listened back. For Fox 8.News, for all things in depth, independent Leicester City Football Club coverage. we'll speak to you on our next show next week. Bye for now.
