The Southern Wide Field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO) is a next-generation ground-based array employing the Water Cherenkov technique for gamma-ray detection. Planned at 4,770 m a.s.l. in Chile's Atacama Astronomical Park, SWGO will cover energies from hundreds of GeV up to the PeV range, complementing northern observatories such as the High-Altitude Water Cherenkov Observatory (HAWC) and the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) and providing access to the Southern sky, including the Galactic Center. To meet the requirements of precise time synchronization among distributed detection units, the experiment will rely on White Rabbit (WR) technology. To optimize the detector configuration, the SWGO collaboration is performing detailed simulations of the outer array layout and photosensor technologies for Cherenkov light detection in water tanks. In this framework, the INFN SWGO Naples group has proposed a multiPMT optical module for the outer array, composed of seven 3″ PMTs. The intrinsic directional sensitivity of this configuration is expected to improve event reconstruction and enhance gamma/hadron separation. The multiPMT Main Board is based on a Zynq SoC system and is responsible for handling data acquisition, power supply, trigger logic, and communication with the DAQ. In addition, it integrates the hardware features required to operate as a node within a White Rabbit (WR) network, addressing the experiment's requirements for precise synchronization among distributed detection units. The implementation of the WR node on the Zynq system has been successfully completed. The various peripherals for node control and management have been fully integrated into the system and are easily accessible from the Zynq processor, which runs a custom lightweight Linux distribution. This provides the significant advantage of enabling monitoring of the WR system using the same tools employed for data acquisition management. Performance comparisons between the…
