Gravitational wave (GW) events are an exciting new tool for cosmology, with major applications as an independent measurement of the Hubble constant and as a probe of departures from General Relativity. Crucially, however, we must understand the astrophysics of GW sources in order to make these measurements.I'll explain the dark siren method used to extract this information from gravitational wave events, and apply this method to the most recent data from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA gravitational wave detectors. I'll present the latest results related to H_0, modified gravity parameters, and the population of compact objects.Time permitting, I'll also introduce an extension of these techniques: cross-correlation of GW sources and galaxies. We'll wrap up by considering how these new probes fit within the toolbox of modern cosmology. .
