Abstract:

The existence of astrophysical neutrinos has been firmly established in the past decade. Possible connections of high-energy neutrinos with astrophysical sources have been found by IceCube, and theory studies have been improving in explaining these connections. The recent measurement by Km3Net reporting about an exceptionally high-energy event has contributed to the excitement in the field, and pushed several speculations about its possible origin.

In this seminar I will present some of the recent experimental findings on high-energy neutrinos, as well as models for the interpretation of these results, with a multimessenger view. I will discuss how cosmogenic neutrinos could help in deciphering the redshift distribution of astrophysical sources of high-energy particles, as well as the fraction of protons in the ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. In addition, I will report about how source modelling advances our understanding of the possible associated sources, as well as the region of the source where neutrinos could be originated.
