Many of the CERN IT services are distributed and have microservice-based architectures, making debugging and event correlation harder. Jaeger, the distributed tracing system of Uber, was designed to simplify the troubleshooting and monitoring of microservice-based distributed systems. In conjunction with CERN's centralized Elasticsearch service, Jaeger makes it possible to significantly reduce the struggle of troubleshooting services at CERN..
