An adult sandhill crane (Antigone canadensis) flies over the Llano Seco Unit of the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge Complex in Butte County, California, in late October 2020. The Llano Seco Unit is a winter wetland area south of Chico and one of the best locations for viewing water birds in the fall, winter and early spring months. – This image has been selected as a finalist in the 2021 Global Photo Contest of The Nature Conservancy.
