Windmill in Lette, Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany The Lette windmill is a landmark of the Coesfeld district of Lette. The current tower windmill was built in the 19th century and served for decades as a grain mill for the agricultural surrounding area. Like many windmills in the Münsterland region, it lost its economic importance with industrialization and the introduction of modern milling technology in the 20th century. Milling operations were eventually discontinued. However, thanks to the commitment of local associations and citizens, the mill was preserved and restored. It is now a listed building and, as a technical cultural monument, serves as a reminder of the former importance of wind power for agriculture and regional supply.
