A micrograph of a stellar dendrite snowflake captured using standard bottom lighting. The image was taken under a microscope using an 8x objective. A focus stacking technique was applied to achieve sharp detail across the entire crystal. Because capturing multiple frames for focus stacking requires an extended photographing time, the branches of the snowflake have begun to melt slightly, causing the normally sharp corners of the branches to appear slightly rounded in this photograph.
