An F/A-18 Hornet performs a high-angle-of-attack manoeuvre during an air show display, with condensation revealing vortices shed from the leading-edge root extensions in humid air. Condensation forms due to near-adiabatic expansion in the core of the vortex leading to a drop in temperature in the air. The aircraft is a Finnish Air Force McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet (reg. HN-442, serial no. 1459/FNC042 ) flying a display at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2025.
