Azucarera Alavesa, a former sugar refinery in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Cuadrilla de Vitoria, Álava, Basque Autonomous Community, Spain. The company was founded on the initiative of a group of industrialists from Álava, including the Ajuria and Hueto families. It was inaugurated in 1904 and, a year later, it was incorporated into the Sociedad General Azucarera de España. It continued to produce until 1966. Today, the old beet pulping pavilion stands, with a careful Manchester-style aesthetic. It was renovated in 1998-99 at the initiative of Sprilur, following a project by Mikel Garbizu, to be used as a research center for the local automotive industry.
