A water mite (Hydrachnidia) photographed under a microscope using an 8x objective. The specimen was collected in June 2023. Water mites show considerable variation in color and body patterns between species - this specimen displays characteristic white patches on its brownish body. The image clearly shows the typical spherical body in lateral view and appendages covered with setae. A dark region of internal organs is visible through the semi-transparent carapace. The image was captured using reflected light, which particularly emphasizes the surface structure and fine details of the appendages. The image was created using focus stacking technique, which ensures great depth of field throughout the subject.
