Captain John W. Tarleton, three-quarter view, overpainted salted paper print. While his uniform shows his rank is Commander, he was serving as captain of the Euryalus at the time, which the caption, shown below, shows was the title he would have been referred to at this time. Apparently, due to it changing over time, the rank insignia is apparently accurate for the actual "Captain" rank for the time period.

Caption

Captain Tarleton, R.N. commanding the Euryalus 1858-9-60_ Mayall \[sic\] 1860_

Measurements:

24.0 x 19.8 cm (image)

28.4 x 23.0 cm (page dimensions)

29.5 x 25.0 x 5.0 cm (album)

Restoration notes The paper borders are a bit odd, and I realised why when I cropped to the image: It's a bit shoved to the right. I've added a small amount of extra space right accordingly (exactly 13px) to balance it without requiring the paper.
