Early Triassic (251 Ma) gymnosperm pollen Lunatisporites transversundatus (Jansonius) Fisher from the Vologda Region (European Russia). Once a few viable cells of male gametophyte were hosted inside this pollen coat. Note the specific name, i.e. L. transversundatus, belongs to dispersed pollen not to their parent gymnosperm plant. Electron photomicrograph of the pollen grain was done using scanning electron microscope TESCAN VEGA 3 (PIN RAS). Extracted in 2019 from Lower Triassic terrigenous rocks (siltstones) of the Nedubrovo section (Vologda Region)} / The image in the lower right corner shows a 10 MCM scale bar. MKM is a micrometer in Russian.
