In Uruguay, there is carnival all around the year. It manifests in different ways, with different approaches throughout the year. Murgas, comparsas, revues, parodists, comedians and many other different types of artists participate. Once a year, an international meeting of women murgas and women murguistas takes place, where know-how and experiences are exchanged and the role of women in the murga, a place historically dominated by men, is discussed. This is a photograph of the Uruguayan-style Chilean murga called La Corre y Vuela, performing at the Teatro de Verano in Montevideo, Uruguay, as part of the Encuentro de Murgas de Mujeres y Mujeres Murguistas.
